This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer,
Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band
with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast. Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan,
so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away,
such as the biology of Tontons and Wampas on the Ice Planet Hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule.

I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in
sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Cliver Show.
This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that

From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84's big to me.
I'm Sam Jay.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here,
unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians,
and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
Before it was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people.

You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
All right, who's ready for a super fun time day?
I am.
I don't know about you.
I'm ready to roll.
Let's do it.
I said super fun time day.
I'm Kavino.
That is Rich.
Hope you had a great Monday night.
Let's have a kick-ass Tuesday.
Let's enjoy some tacos for lunch.
Speaking of, we're going to play a game today.
A game that's sweep in the nation called Chipotle Worker
or a WNV.
player. But hang tight. We got prizes. We got giveaways today.
So thank you for being here. Again, I'm Steve Covino. That is Rich Davis. Spotty's on the
videos at Covino and Rich if you want to play along at home. Danny G. Super
producing on the phone's 818, 8177509. That's
8188-1-7509. We also got music
and Ryan hanging out with us. And thank you. Fox Sports
Radio Nation. Again, CNN, in for Colin on the herd.
I think everyone's dragon ass a little bit this week.
After that nice 4th of July break, I think everyone's like, dude, it's Tuesday only?
What is going on?
There's not a lot of sports.
There's not a lot of anything, really.
Millions of people pumped to hear Colin to get that Tuesday kicking the ass second wind.
And they're like, Kvino and Rich.
What?
Yes.
Yes.
And I'll tell you what, speaking of dragon ass, though, Rich.
Yep.
Of all nights, I chose last night to start my, is it called the CPAP study?
What's it called?
That sleep test?
for people who snore and don't get a good night's rest.
Are you going to wear anything on your face for the rest of your life?
I'm going to start sleeping with one of those,
which screams sexy time in the bedroom if you didn't know.
But you have to take a test.
You have to pass this test first.
And I've had a sitting.
And I was like, you know, tonight's a good night.
And I was up all night.
Up all night like Gilbert Gottfried on USA.
I was up all night.
I was up all night with this thing strapped to my finger,
seeing if I qualify for this breathing machine.
And I just got to tell you, the most miserable night.
So for those of you that are dragging ass,
you don't feel worse than me right now.
However, the caffeine's kicking in,
and we're here for the herd, so I'm pumped about that,
very pumped about that.
But not as pumped as this Cooper Flagg fella.
Who's Cooper Flagg?
We're going to tell you all about him.
We're going to talk about Zach Wilson.
There's a story today.
Joey Chestnut is an American hero.
We'll tell you why.
We're going to play some games, like you said.
A lot going on.
But yeah, Cooper Flagg.
I want everyone to think to themselves right now,
what were you doing when you were 17 years old?
Think about that for a second.
Activate the flux capacitor,
go back to the 90s or 80s
or whatever the hell you were 17,
and think, what was I doing?
Because I'll tell you what you weren't doing.
You weren't schooling the best players in the NBA
and having the world wonder who the hell you are?
Cooper Flagg is this gangly 17-year-old, 6-8, 200 pounds, kid from Maine.
He's a Duke incoming freshman.
He's part of the USA Select team, the U.S. select team,
that scrimmage against the USA Olympic team the past three days.
And apparently he had a day.
And he had several great days, but he had a day.
So it does pose that question.
When you're making three pointers over Anthony Davis, when you have a put back and you're schooling, bam out of bio, an all defensive player, when you're hitting jumpers over Drew Holiday, you're doing big things.
You're opening a lot of eyes.
And that's what he's doing against the best of the best.
Again, as a kid who doesn't even turn 18 until December.
So had a day and what were you doing at 17?
I'll tell you straight up what I was doing a 17.
17, I was working at a clothes store that doesn't even exist anymore.
Making, what was it, $4.25 an hour?
What was minimum wage back then?
In the 90s, I remember I worked at Wendy's,
and I remember it was $5 an hour,
and I was like, wow, Wendy's overpaced.
Obviously, yeah, I was living at home with my parents.
I would sneak girls in
and tell them I lived with some old people
I rented out the basement
I lived in the basement of my parents' house
I was driving a Nissan Centra
a 93...
I didn't ask what you were doing at 30
I said what were you doing at 17?
No no this is...
No, no.
When I was 30 I upgraded to a crolla, yeah.
Okay.
No, no, no, this is 17.
I had a 93 Centra.
I was working at a store,
a clothes store called the garage.
and they were known for selling brands like Chess King.
I mean, not Chess King.
Chess King was an off brand.
They sold like bum equipment and Levi's and things like that.
Big Johnson T-shirts, get you ready for the summertime.
So the garage on Route 22 in Union, New Jersey, that's where I was working.
And I had no clue about where I was going to college, what I was going to do.
I was buying CDs with all the money I had.
I was buying lots of music.
But at 17, zero direction, really.
I was playing sports, obviously, playing baseball,
but nothing to this level.
This kid might be the coolest 17-year-old that ever was.
Let me ask you, do you think Cooper Flagg
and any 17-year-old knows what a Big Johnson T-shirt is?
No, not at all.
Not at all.
By the way, what happened to Big Johnson T-shirts?
That's an investigation on its own.
But, you know, you think about what you were doing at 17,
and there's so many layers to this Cooper Flagg,
story.
Like embracing the moment, living it up, capitalizing on your opportunity, because this went
from a situation where day one of scrimmages, he showed that, well, I can hang.
I could compete.
Day two, based on what he did against the best of the best, people already thinking,
ooh, 2025 draft.
It's like, are you serious?
But then again, if you see this guy competing like that, you know, Duke must be licking
their chops knowing that they got a must watch.
guy now because a guy whose name you didn't know yesterday or the day before now you know and when
college hoop starts what's the number one guy people are going to be scoping out from game one of
the season covino cooper flag so he did his job we open it up to you fox sports radio nation
the herd 818 81775-09 your greatest day today was a good day for this guy which was actually what
yesterday. So he had a day and what were you doing at 17? Now it makes me think of not only what was I
doing at 17 again just trying to get my name in the paper playing sports. That was really the focus,
right? What was your coolest moment? Waring your jersey to high school?
Waring your jersey to high school was a cool feeling.
Yeah, hoping you got a blurb in the local paper like Rich went three for four with two doubles.
Like you were hoping you got the little write up in the local paper.
Yeah, maybe, you know, hanging on the parents, refrigerator.
Like, what was the big thrill?
This guy's playing with the best of the best.
Granted, you got to figure he's going all out.
He's just straight balling.
Again, trying to open up some eyes, trying to get some respect.
These dudes are just practicing for the most part.
But then when he starts being dominant, any competitor is going to step up.
I'm sure Anthony Davis wasn't happy about it.
Steve Kerr couldn't really speak about it, although he did say that the select team was
bringing it, you know, with all these young players and G-Leat players.
So when I think of my best days, because this has to go down in this kid's young life as
his best day yet, I would imagine.
How bunk is that, by the way?
Danny G., I'm guessing I think that's draft rules and a current NBA coach can't talk about
a current possible college player.
Yeah, that's tampering.
But the fact that Kerr can't even say, yo, the kid lit it up like he can't even say anything.
It's sort of lame, right?
He just made a generic statement about how they all played competitive and they were all great competitors.
But everybody was talking about this kid Cooper Flag.
So basically, it might be a kid you never heard of, but today everybody's talking about him because of this performance.
Like, how cool is that to wake up to?
You're just some, again, tall kid out of Maine.
And by the way, he was always a great player.
Music was telling us before, like, he was all everything and he was so good.
he was so bored he had to go to some private school
to find competition at his level in Maine
and it's no surprise that he's good
nobody knew he can compete on this level
well yeah one day
the average person doesn't know your name the next day
every sports fan's like oh you hear about a Cooper flag
it's like Hawk toa girl one day she's just a girl
in the street in Nashville the next day she's
making tens of thousands of dollars at club appearances
and people have merchandise and every meme now your parents are seeing
the Hawk toa meme
Yeah, but he's always been good, is my point.
It's not like he just out of nowhere is good.
It's just out of nowhere we know him.
What was his, where were his stats music?
So in high school, he was the Gatorade player of the year as a freshman in Maine.
And then at the end of his freshman year, he was like, I need some better competition.
So he had to transfer to an academy school down in Florida.
And has basically been the consensus number one overall recruit for the 2025 class.
And now as we see, people are probably quickly across the NBA getting ready to tank for Cooper Flag.
Yeah, so he was no slub, but it's got people saying, hmm, all right.
Now, people are going to lag for flag.
Yeah, no, yeah, exactly.
So again, most of us didn't know this guy now.
Everybody's talking about him today.
So it's a two-part doozy.
Your best day.
And what were you doing at 17?
because he's got most of our acts beat by far, by far.
My best day, I would say,
because this was what, three days of scrimmaging?
So he had a series, right?
So I'd say my best two-day span ever was in 2009.
And I hope I have more great days to come.
But in 2009, get this, Yankees are in the World Series.
I'm super pumped about it.
Hell yeah.
And then,
I'm having a baby.
Not me, my ex.
My ex is, I know I might look like it.
I already had a few tacos.
He's going to be a soccer player.
He is.
But I'm having a baby.
The Yankees lose on November 1st.
I'm like, ah.
No, they, when did they win?
Do you forget your daughter's birthday and the Yankees World Series?
The Yankees win the World Series.
On the third, my daughter was born on the second.
So I was in the hospital for the second and the third.
Those are my best two days.
So great and so great, and I forgot the dates.
I was going to say, you're that bad at calendar.
I knew my daughter's birthday, obviously.
I was trying to remember when the Yankees won.
The Yankees didn't win that day.
The Yankees won the day after.
Not the day before, the day after.
So I was like, ah, but two great days back to back and belly to belly.
And I remember, wow, I'm not sure if it gets better than this.
I just became a dad.
I was super pumped about it.
And the Yankees won the World Series.
celebrating the World Series win in the hospital, and I still got those pictures of like,
here's me, brand new dad with the baby. Good moment, good day, good time. How about you?
When it comes to best day ever, or best series, best few days. I have nothing compared to Cooper
Flag or you, who doesn't even remember the days. I would say, I mean, individual days, like,
would you say, I mean, everyone's going to say,
what, I became a dad or a mom.
Well, hold on.
Mine had a little caveat.
The Yankees won the World Series and I became a dad.
Look, we've all, most of us have the ability to become dads.
It's the fact that it happened that same time.
Yeah, I, the 49ers almost helped me there because my son's birthday was on Super Bowl Sunday this year.
And the 49ers lost and I'm a big Niners fan.
I told my wife, I'm like, how cool it would it be if the 49ers won the Super Bowl for the first time since 94-95 when I was a little teenager on our son's birthday?
Damn, Patrick Mahomes ruined my day.
So I don't have anything, Kavino, right?
My teams lose, and being a dad is a generic answer.
So I'd be honest, those days where you get the phone call, no matter what you do for a living, when you get that call from the boss, like, hey, we want to talk, and you get like a big raise or, hey, listen, I'll be honest, top 10, top 10.
moment has to be when we got the call from the Fox Sports Radio bosses saying, hey, we're making
room for you guys on the full-time lineup. That was pretty dope. Yeah, we had a cool meeting.
I'll never forget that. Yeah, those are great moments, fist pumps in the air for anybody.
Great news. And it's funny, you put things in perspective. Because our happiness relies on these
teams and some other cool life moments. But these are the guys that are actually doing it, guys like
Cooper Flagg. They're actually playing in these games that we're all excited about.
I mean, people are going to think back to.
Remember opening that envelope when they probably don't mail it anymore?
Remember opening the envelope?
Is it thick or thin based on, did you get admitted to that college?
Yes, but growing up on the East Coast, I really didn't apply it to many schools.
You know, like I said, take me back to 17.
I had zero guidance, man.
Zero guidance.
I know school I was going to.
I had no idea what I was going to do.
You didn't apply to a bunch of colleges and get all the response letters in the mail and opening it.
I did, but only the local ones.
I'm from, again, the East Coast, New Jersey,
and I ended up going to Montclair State University
because they had a decent baseball team at the time.
They were national champions.
I was like, all right, I'll do that.
All I knew at 17 was baseball and playing music.
And I don't really know much more now, to be honest, but that was it.
So what were you doing at 17 and your greatest day, 818, 817-7509?
I'd love to hear Danny G's greatest day, music.
Have you ever had a moment that?
compares? Probably not because we're all here in the radio studio, right? We weren't that great at sports.
We just love sports, but this dude was competing with the best of them. Danny J., you got something?
Super producer. You know, Rich, we're in our old studio, and I think everybody forgot how to use it.
No, what it is is they refurbished this studio, so it's new equipment in front of some of us.
I like the feeling of our old studios. Yeah, it feels good to be back.
This is cool. This is where the CNR extravaganza began on Sunday nights on the network.
Yeah, for me, I would say the greatest day ever was August 5th, 2023.
Coa was born, Future Raider.
Hashtag future Raider.
He's as big as a linebacker already, about to turn one.
And as far as being 17, I know what you're going to think.
You know, how could my career get any better after this?
But I peaked young.
I was already working in radio at 17 for 98.3 K-M-I-X.
Radio Modesto Stockton
and I was like the little
Duggy Houser on the staff
and then now fast forward to Covino
and Rich yes I peaked then and my
career has gone downhill ever since
Wait you're Danny G
from KMix? Yes sir
He's that Danny G. You know
I think we all have to hold
on to the thought
even if it's just
it's just false
we have to hold on to the thought
that we haven't peaked yet
Like, no, no, no, the best is yet to come.
If your day pales in comparison to Cooper flags, and for most people, it has.
You have to believe somehow to keep you going that.
No, no, no, it's just because it hasn't happened yet.
No, of course.
I'm still motivated by that.
I think about that with not only sports community.
I think about that with music, not music, the producer, like actual music.
I think about that with, you see some teenage,
teeny bopper on stage and you're thinking
there are like Olivia Rodriguez
like if you got daughters or kids like
you see some young woman on a stage at like
Madison Square Garden or something
and you're thinking to yourself
this kid is on stage in front of 20,000 people
when I was 16, 17 I was picking my nose
working at Wendy's like it's like it's
it's amazing how a guy like Cooper Flag
could come out of not nowhere
because as Ryan pointed out
he was a you know
elite young player in Maine
moved down to Florida
but the simple fact that you always think about this
remember the show pros versus Joe's
of course
everyone always wonders
you know like what if a regular dude
did compete against the like a pro
I was a bigger fan of American gladiators
I was like I think I could take Nitro
I think I could do this yeah
but when you think about like pros
versus Joe's I know
Cooper isn't necessarily
a Joe,
but he is just a regular
17-year-old kid
that's a good basketball player.
Yeah, he's still a kid, so it's a fun story.
He's dominated every step of the way.
You don't think he's ever daydreamed, like,
hey, what if I did play against LeBron or A.D.
Or Drew Holiday or any of these guys?
He's daydreamed about it.
The opportunity came up,
and he held his own and actually played really well.
What a great moment for this kid.
And that's the goal to hold your own.
And he went above and beyond.
And I said it, and I'll say it again.
And it's not to take away.
and I can't take away from his moment and the cool story and that's not my point.
But you have to imagine he's going all out, dude, and they're very casual about it.
They're just there.
We're scrimmaging.
We're not trying to get hurt.
You know, we're just going through the motions.
And he's pushing them to their limits going all out.
There's a difference there.
There's a difference between, you know, that guy that's going all out and the guy that's shooting.
We could all sort of, we could all sort of relive that to some degree.
as you get older if you ever hit a basketball court.
You're just shooting around.
You just want to shoot around.
That's all I want to do.
Shoot around and maybe play the old guy role.
And I'm not old, but I'm not trying to get hurt.
I'm not trying to roll an ankle.
So I'll play, but I just want to shoot really.
I'm not trying to get in the mix.
The K-mix with Danny G.
So my point is some younger dudes,
some younger dudes will roll up to the court,
and they're acting like they're in it to win it,
and they're playing real aggressive,
and then they start pushing you to play harder.
But you're like, hold on, slow down.
I was just shooting around, and these guys are going all out.
That's kind of what's going on here on the highest of levels.
I get your analogy, but you with some, you know, alpaca-headed 20-year-olds at 24-hour fitness,
I don't think it's the same thing as LeBron.
On a lower level, these broccoli heads, if I'm there shooting,
these broccoli heads roll up and they start wanting to play because they're 20-something and aggressive.
I'm 40-something, I'm just hanging.
These guys are in that mindset and in that mode.
They're not trying to really compete right now.
They're just scrimaging.
And he got this young broccoli-headed dude.
You got this 17-year-old kid playing like his career depends on it.
There is a difference.
I just want to point that out.
I got to ask, since we are filling in for the herd,
who wins in a three-point shootout?
You or Jason McIntyre.
You've seen his Instagram.
That dude's always...
hooping.
The competitive side of me says I'll win in anything.
That's just me being delusional.
Wait, is there a hand in the face or not?
Because Covino's great when there's no defense.
Is he defending me? Because then he'll probably win.
If there's no defense, yeah, I'll take them.
If people don't know, Covino uncontested 75% from three-point range,
contested 7%.
Yeah, but when I have an alpaca boy,
some young kid with his broccoli haircut in front of my face,
yeah, then it's a little different.
So I'm just pointing out, again, the obvious,
but I want to make it clear.
I doubt that these Olympic caliber players,
these superstars that we know like Anthony Davis,
were playing all out the way this kid was.
Maybe at some point they did,
but I'm sure they weren't expecting all that from him.
But props to him, again, what were you doing?
And tell us about your greatest day ever.
Plus, I know you want to get to this mystery anniversary, Richard.
Oh, yeah, you know what?
One year ago, actually, we missed it.
It was yesterday.
Shame on you, shame on me.
An anniversary in the world of sports and entertainment went down yesterday,
and I'll let you know what it is next.
And it sort of changed the whole trajectory of the sports world.
I'll explain.
This is a big one.
We'll talk about it next.
Kavino and Rich, hanging.
In for Colin on the Herd.
It's Fox Sports Radio.
More next.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m.
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1 and the I-Hard Radio app.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,
or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and
entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't
always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported
me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford
show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84's big to me.
not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite
therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade
of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests.
I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing,
we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing.
And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough.
Because people scoreboard watch.
Life becomes about wins and losses.
Steve Burns, Dustin Ross,
because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on Earth?
Are you a good person because you're afraid?
Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Absolutely.
And that's two different levels of trust.
I want you to just really be a good person.

thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics

such as the biology of tontons and wampas on the ice planet hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith Rule of Two.

We got Big Sexy Ryan on the Ons and twos.
Danny G. Super Producing on the phones,

Music's got your updates in a few minutes.
Spots on the videos at Covino and Rich,
the C&R show in for Colin on the herd.
Always a pleasure.
Last week, we did the Dan Slam,
our first ever Dan Slam.
Four shows for Dan Patrick.
Normally we're on 2 to 4 out here in the West.
on Fox Sports Radio, 5 to 7 on the East,
but love filling in for Colin.
I think it's wild because every day,
I'm just like you.
I watch Colin's clips on social media.
I listen to Colin, so when we fill in for him,
it's like, you know, dude, we're filling in for the guy
that I actually admire.
So, hey, pretty fun.
CNR, in for Colin on the herd.
Now, I'm down in Texas, Kavino,
just visiting friends and family.
That's why you got that cowboy hat on, right?
Yeah, y-ha, man.
Yeah.
That's why you're wearing those flip-flops
with the spurs.
You saw those.
I saw those.
So we're talking about Cooper Flagg.
We're done with that, but this kid lit it up, 17, he's going to be going to Duke.
We now know who the number one NCAA men's hoops player that everyone's going to have their eyes on,
and that's Cooper Flag.
And, you know, Ryan Music, he told us that he played in Maine, was so good, needed to find
competition, so his family picked up and went to Florida, right?
the one thing I've been talking to the most about with friends in Texas, all the kids' sports
and how they're out of control.
Every one of my wife's friends, my wife's from here, all her friends' parents, yeah,
we're traveling for soccer and basketball and my one kid's on this team and, oh, we have
travel baseball every weekend.
It is like the common denominator amongst people with kids that are young or teenagers.
It's a nightmare.
It's too much.
It's tearing apart families.
It really is.
Well, that is the sentiment.
That's the thing we keep hearing amongst our friends
and on social media is that people are going broke
trying to pay for it,
trying to keep up with the Joneses are out,
trying to keep up with the Kardashians.
It's expensive trying to get all these personal coaches
and trainers and camps and paying for all the traveling
and everything else.
And you got one parent with this kid,
another parent with the other kid,
and they're fighting over money
and how to pay for this stuff.
And it's causing this crazy amount of,
of stress, extra stress in these relationships.
And families are really struggling to get by.
And think about it, Rich, from a parental perspective,
you don't want your kid to fall behind
because you're not making the money
and all the other kids are paying for all these coaches
and camps and everything else.
So you're going to do everything you can
and make sure your kid keeps up or else he's out.
It's a really tough situation to be in.
You see a lot of elite athletes that are in the pros now,
and some of them say,
oh, I didn't even start that sport
until I was 15.
So it's...
They're exceptions, you know,
and that's why they're great.
Yo, last night I'm having dinner
with our friends Nick and Lindsay,
and Nick was telling me
that his son is getting really good.
He's on a travel soccer club.
Another parent suggested,
you know, you really need to get him
a nutritionist and a conditioning coach.
His kid's like nine.
I'm like, what?
So now we're going to talk about,
so what were you doing at nine?
Because I wasn't worrying about that.
No.
But you know what?
Today is the one-year anniversary.
Check that.
Yesterday was, we missed it.
Shame on you, shame on me, shame on Danny Gene, everyone.
So yesterday was the one-year anniversary of a moment.
I say this in a light way.
I hope you could interpret that.
Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of a moment that changed the football landscape
and the pop culture landscape forever.
I think I sort of hinted enough.
What do you think it is?
A year ago today.
Year ago today.
I mean, there's enough bozos in the studio where we should be.
able to figure it out.
Danny Janie
Any ideas?
Music?
I think music's got it.
He's like,
ah,
God.
I am.
No,
something to do
with Taylor Swift?
Oh,
is that it?
Am I right?
One year ago today
was the day
where Travis Kelsey
tried to give his number
to Taylor Swift
and it didn't work.
And then do you remember
Aaron Andrews got involved
and said,
hey, you should give him a chance,
but today was the day
where Travis Kelsey,
remember he publicly said,
yeah,
tried to slip Taylor Swift.
with my number and it didn't work. That was a year ago, huh? So the last year of our lives has been
inundated with Swifties and Kelsey and that relationship and everything. So that means they've
been together for about a year because wasn't the story, the real story that he just hadn't
told the public yet that he was already making moves? They apparently started dating a month
or so after that day. So they're coming up on a year and not to be all pop culture boy on you,
But did you see the other day she sang a song directed at him
and he was crying in the stadium?
I did see that.
What a wuss.
Yeah, I agree with Danny G.
And by the way, you think we should be all ashamed
that we didn't know that?
I didn't know.
I was joking.
But I just, you know, we do the show every day
and think of how many annoying updates.
We're like, you know, Sunday Night Football featured Taylor Swift
or, hey, they moved the Chiefs game.
And we even talked about how the schedule this year,
is like some, they admitted that they've accommodated Taylor Swift and the chiefs.
So it's been one year since Taylor rejected Kelsey's first move.
As ridiculous as that sounds.
You're right, Rich.
It gave us so much content, so many things to talk about, so many discussions about how many times they were showing her at the game.
Oh, the narrative changed so many times.
Remember, initially it was, who gives a crap about this stupid pop star?
And then it turned into, if you hate Taylor and Travis, then you're just,
jerk that like the narrative kept changing so one year later.
So definitely worthy of acknowledgement.
And the fact that he was crying,
you know what?
Vatos don't cry,
but we do pout really hard, right?
We're only allowed, how many?
13, 13 tears?
Well, isn't that song, don't you say you're a Mexican dude?
So they say 98 tier drops in your lifetime, right?
How much?
96 tier drops were allowed per lifetime.
So you got to use them wisely
But every once in a while
Something stupid will hit you
So I can't really get on him about that
Every once in a while you're sitting there
And something dumb will get you
And you're like, what?
So when you got Taylor Swift
Singing to you in front of all these people
And you realize a year's gone by
And it's been an up and down roller coaster of love
I'm not going to hate on him for that
In fact, I wish him well
I'm you know
You become a dad Danny G
Who's a tough
tough dude.
I bet you there's times where you saw
commercial or something reminded you
your kid and you got a little teary-eyed.
It hits the best of us.
I took my kids to see despicable me over the weekend
and there was a part in the movie where I'm like
this is beautiful.
Oh man, no.
Don't even admit that.
By the way, that movie's sleep in the nation right now.
So, all right.
Well, hey, happy anniversary
to Travis and Taylor.
Almost anniversary.
Now, before we get to,
the herd line news. Let me just say I'm looking at the feedback already. A ton of feedback of people
already saying my kid's sports are ruining my life. Matt in Minnesota just hit us up saying,
dude, it's someplace travel baseball. It's really tough for parents, like I said, to not enroll their
kids because by not enrolling their kids in these camps and in these tutorials or whatever it
may be, you're letting your kid fall behind. That's the fact. The other kids are getting better
while they stay the same.
So even my sister's kids out here in Los Angeles,
she's not rolling in the money.
So I'm like, look, if you need help, I'll help you.
Like Uncle Steve has to help out
just to make sure the kids are keeping up
with the other kids out here in Los Angeles.
Dude.
Otherwise, you feel as a parent
you're not doing enough to provide for your kid
or give them the tools that they need to keep up with the other kids.
It's a terrible situation to be in.
It really is.
You're like Uncle Scream.
Rich McDuck.
I don't want to see my nephew fall behind.
But one last thought.
And then again, I want to hit some herd line news with our dude Ryan.
When we were kids, and again, I never want to sound like the old guy.
Like, when we were kids, we played kick the can.
I'm just saying when we were kids, you played basketball, football, baseball.
You did all the things you did.
You did travel team.
But travel team was like sort of local.
Like you did the All-Stars.
Do you remember traveling state to state to state?
our buddy Mouser, who lives in Cincinnati,
that dude is in a different state every weekend
with his son who plays hockey.
It's absurd.
Not even close.
I rarely left the state.
You kidding me?
A trip for me with the family was to Sesame Place.
What was that?
Pennsylvania?
I never left New Jersey,
let alone for some sort of crazy travel sport.
Of course, we played other towns
in other counties and other places in New Jersey,
but rarely left the state.
So it's a different world, and it is tearing families apart.
That's not even a joke.
It just puts so much stress.
And imagine if you have more than one kid playing on a different team.
Well, the dude that hosts American Ninja Warrior, not Matt Iceman, Akbar, the other dude, went on a social media rant a couple months ago.
That was fantastic about how he played pro sports.
And this is absurd.
He's like, kid should not be playing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday with practices and traveling.
His whole stand for your family.
Exactly.
He was saying, you know, Sundays are for rest.
Sundays are for family.
It shouldn't be all weekend long, especially if you're a hardworking couple, if you're a hardworking parent.
You got Monday through Friday, you're breaking your ass, you're at work, you're being hassled and hoffed, and then you've got to take your kid to practice throughout the week.
Saturday, you're running around like an idiot, traveling all over the place.
Sunday, you got to say, leave me alone.
Sunday has to be for the family to balance out all that craziness throughout the rest of the week.
Otherwise, when do you have time for family?
That's the thing.
So he's trying to make a stance, and I'm all for that.
Because I love when there's nothing to do on my calendar.
And if that's Sundays, especially for, again, parents with kids on travel leagues, it should be that way.
Like, nope, that's day for prayer.
That's day for family.
That's day for running errands.
That's day for just dinner around the table talking about your week.
Because that's what we're losing.
And that's why families are struggling as a result.
You don't have any of that time.
I already told my kids the minute I realize they're not going pro
where none of this, this ends.
Hey, hey, do I get an inkling that you might have been?
Is there a scholarship in the works if not done?
It's a little bit of a relief when your kid comes up to you.
And they're like, yeah, you know, these vocal lessons
or these acting lessons or art lessons or whatever it is that they're a basketball coach,
I don't like them.
It's kind of a relief because you're like, all right, well, then I could save me
400, 500 bucks a month.
And that's a terrible way
to think, but that's the truth.
You're like, hey, kid, be honest, because don't waste my money.
Oh, sweet. You're not going to be the next
Selena Gomez? Perfect.
I mean, oh, I'm sorry, kids.
All right, let's get to the Herdline News.
Let's do it.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the Heard Line News.
What's going on, guys?
Great to be with you today.
Let's turn our attentions to the world of the NFL.
It was the boot.
seen around the world. Yes, late last week, a picture of Dak Prescott
enjoying the offseason in Mexico when it picture surfaced
of Prescott in a walking boot. Of course, as quarterback of America's team,
people lost their collective minds on social media. Well,
Dak Prescott today, here he is, addressing the walking boot
controversy. Honestly, I'm getting older. It's the same ankle right that I snapped
and had a nasty surgery on four years ago. So a couple of hard days of training
and you get a little sore and then you're going on a fishing trip.
and you want to protect it and make sure that things don't get worse.
So literally it's absolutely nothing.
That's why I'm supposed to people are reaching,
trying to make things that they aren't.
I'm getting older.
I have to take care of my body.
Have to be smart.
And if I can take precautions and lessening something about putting on the boot,
I'm going to do it.
And so sorry that it costs such a world.
There you go.
Nothing to see here.
No big deal.
I don't buy it.
It's a precautionary boot?
Well, hold on, Cabino.
Do you think Bobby the Brain Heenan had a neck brace for more than precaution or for
all those years? I mean, I always thought he was severely hurt. Yeah, I took that serious always when
Bobby the brain wore the neck brace. But you're buying into that precautionary boot, nothing to
worry about? Who voluntarily wears that ridiculous thing? I mean, then again, kids wear crocs,
so I've seen worse. That's true. All right, we'll wrap up with this one. You're going to like
this one, Rich. NFL insider Jeremy Fowler pulled nearly 80 front office executives, coaches, and
scouts to rank the top running backs in the NFL right now.
Here's the top five coming in at number five, Jonathan Taylor.
Number four, Sequin Barclay, number three, Nick Chubb, number two, Brees Hall.
Number one, Christian McCaffrey.
Of course.
Of course.
And he's coming off his wedding to the beautiful Olivia Colpo.
You know who I want to party with after seeing that wedding?
Not only all the beautiful models that Olivia Coppull all hangs with, but Greg Olson
looks like that guy parties.
Did you see the pictures of Olson?
Oh, yeah.
He looked like he was having the best time.
He definitely had a tie around his head.
There was definitely a circle around him at the wedding, at the reception.
He was definitely doing the running man.
Without a doubt.
All right.
Any others, Ryan?
We can move along.
What do you want to do?
We'll hit one more here.
And we look at the NBA, Jason Tatum, preparing to play with Team USA and the Paris Olympics
on the heels of winning his first NBA championship.
Did winning a title finally bring an end to all the talk and doubt about Tatum?
Well, he says, yeah, it's pretty much.
over. Quote, just being the topic of
discussions, so many debates,
can I lead a team, am I a top five
player? Still a lot of things, I guess, they can
debate, but now something they can't say
or debate, I've won a championship.
Having that under my belt, the conversations,
whatever people want to say, but they'll
always have to refer to me as an NBA champion.
Oh yeah.
Thank you, music.
What's with the new haircut?
People are talking about Jason Tatum.
Do you have the new style fade or something? What's going on?
It's just a tight cut. That's all.
short, short and tight.
Okay. Yeah, not bad. Thank you, music.
Appreciate it.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Ly News.
All right, well, coming up, we got some NBA we're going to talk about.
Also, the NFL, less than a month away, and there is a reason to be hyped about tomorrow.
If you don't know what happens tomorrow, we will let you know next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Kavino and Rich, and for Colin Cowherd, on the herd.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd
Weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific.

Yo, as everybody knows,
we're the host of the award-winning
Polly and Tony Fusco show.
But instead of us telling you how great we are,
here's how Dan Patrick described us
when he came on our show.
Quick, knowledgeable, and funny, opinionated.
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
What are you doing?
You're interrupting our promo.
Yeah.
He wasn't talking about you.
You took those clips totally out of context.
Oh, yeah.
Well, after this promo, I'm going to
to take you out and beat you.
Let me put this into context.
Shut up.
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Folly and Tony Fusco show on IHart Radio, Apple Podcasts,

Yeah.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what you're saying.

It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all.
Embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett and I'm Alex English
Each episode we pick it here
unpack what went down
and try to make sense of how we survived it
including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill
waxing all about crack in the 80s
To be clear, 84 is big to me not just because of crack
I'm down to talk about crack on day
but just so you know
I mean at this point Mark this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack so I'm starting to see
there's a through line
We also have AIDS on the table right now
Thank you finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

When I say back, I mean back here on the herd, the CNR show in for Colin on the herd, and back in our old studio, we're in our old studio, which is now,
our cowherd fillin studio, I guess.
I'm Steve Kavino out here in L.A.
with Danny G., Ryan, music, and spotty boy.
Dickie Tejas out there.
Hop along Dickie in Texas for the summertime.
You're riding any rivers this weekend?
You know what?
That's the lifestyle down here,
floating rivers and just chilling out.
And by the way, for people new to us,
my name is not Dickie Tejas.
You know, or hop along Dickie or anything you call me.
but hey, you know what?
I'll take the names while I'm here
and visiting some family,
but Kavino and Rich in for the herd.
What do we learn so far today?
Camino, you've got to embrace that moment
and Cooper Flagg did that
playing with NBA players.
Now everyone's going to be watching them on Duke.
Cooper Flags the story of the day right now.
As of now, he's the story of the day, for sure.
And kids' sports are dominating our wallets in time.
And I want to talk about
something that
is on tomorrow.
Now, I know tonight
you're probably
going to be watching
Hard Knocks, right?
The Giants preseason
I feel like
they're such a boring team
that I got to convince
myself to watch that
because the Giants have
zero intrigue for me.
I'm watching it
and it's good.
It's a great show.
It's a great show regardless.
So yeah, I'm definitely checking out
this episode two tonight, right?
Danny G.
Hard Knocks tonight.
Yesterday was the premiere
of The Bachelorette.
Did you watch that?
I did.
I hated myself.
No, it was actually pretty good.
It's going to suck.
Did you cry like Travis Kelsey?
No, no, hell no.
It's going to suck eventually, Rich, but I was pleasantly surprised because I always
like to size myself up and be like, how would I act if some dude treated me that way?
Like some guy went up to this other guy.
He's like, yeah, how about you get up?
Because I want to talk to her.
He's like, I just sat down.
He's like, yeah, but it's my turn.
Like, how would you react in that situation?
You know, I think that's insane.
But yeah, anyway, I always look forward to what's on TV, and tonight it's hard knocks.
And if you missed out on the Bachelorette premiere, catch up on it.
Well, tomorrow is the big one because we all love quarterback last year.
You got to look into the lives of some of our NFL favorites.
You actually ended up really liking Patrick Mahomes more, which stinks because he's so good.
You want to hate him, but.
And Cousins, you realize what a nerdy was, and it was endearing.
You're like, this guy shops at Target.
he's wearing Goodfellow clothing brand.
Nothing wrong with it. It's fantastic.
But he's a quarterback in the NFL.
He's a Goonberger.
He was Sam's Club, remember?
Yeah, it was Sam's Club.
You got to know these guys on a more personal level
and made you appreciate them even more.
I think everybody loved Patrick Mahomes.
You just loved him a little more.
You appreciated his relationship.
I think you really got to see what Cousins was all about.
That's the fun of it, though.
And truthfully, we were like,
ah, Marcus Marriota.
He's all right.
No one fell in love with the Marriota story.
They love or hate it, yeah.
But tomorrow, receiver starts on Netflix.
Perfect, because football starts in a month.
And it is like, it just changes every habit you have.
I've always told men and women,
you got to date someone a full year before you get serious with them
because you have to see how they act throughout all four seasons of sports.
Because if my wife didn't know me until a football season,
she'd be like, all right, he watches the Mets, he'll watch a little NBA here and there.
Football, I'm a different man.
It's like, I don't know if you turn a switch on too or it's like NFL,
but NFL is like a different beast for me.
I'm so invested.
NFL's a different beast, period.
I will admit that.
Everybody knows that.
But I also think you're extra pumped because you're not invested in baseball the way you used to be.
I don't know why that is.
The Mets will do that to you.
Yeah, no, I get it.
But even though the Yankees had this 20 game slide and they're terrible and is the worst, most uninspiring baseball I've ever seen,
like I'm still way invested.
So not to say I'm not excited about football, but I'm still very excited about baseball at the moment.
I'm also mad at myself because I ordered a Mets grimmish shirt online and I'm like regretting it.
Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that.
I feel like I missed the boat.
I'm regretting it for you.
Because I'm the one that has to look at it.
You just got to put it on.
But tomorrow starts receiver.
And I'm really excited about this because, again, football starts in a month.
And I'm a Niners fan.
So you got Debo.
You got George Kittl and a bunch of other stars.
We'll go over receiver next.
Kavito and Rich, in for Colin on the herd.
Hang tight.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy.
Not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.

not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say
it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's superheaval,

Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast.
Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away,
such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule of two.
