J. Max back. It's a Tuesday live in Los Angeles. It's the herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day. My favorite part of today, just laughing before the show started. So the NFL teams are now releasing depth charts. Sam Darnold, starting for the Vikings, clearly the leader.

Not J.J. McCarthy in the clubhouse. And then J. Mack pointed out to me. Should you want to save it for the herd line news? Or you want to fire now? It is kind of funny that Bo Nix, like J.J. McCarthy in Minnesota, they're in third. So the offensive coaches, Kevin O'Connell and Sean Payton, they bury their rookie quarterbacks. You've got a lot to learn, kid. They bury him behind Jarrett Stidham and Sam Darnel.

Just saying. Kind of shocking. Like Michael Pennix in Atlanta. I don't know. Second third. He made some nice throws at practice. Oh, lovely. So I was thinking about this.

There is no quarterback in the NFL that's won a playoff game. Daniel Jones has won a playoff game. There is no quarterback in the NFL that gets ripped more, and there's no empathy or no sympathy. Even on HBO's hard knocks. I mean, it was like anti-Daniel Jones. The Giants, Mara, the GM would talk about him. Daniel Jones was watching it

He's got a playoff win Now, did the Giants reach to draft him at number six? Yes. Is he overpaid currently in the NFL? Well, it's $40 million a year, not $55, but yeah. So yesterday there was a big

scuffle. Lions, Giants at practice. And I've got to be honest with you, Daniel Jones jumped right into the middle of it and was right there pushing back with everybody and the coaches are like trying to pull the quarterback out. But I don't know. Maybe it's because, you know, he's getting paid more than he deserves. So what? So does the entire NFL.

He maybe he went to Duke, easy to dislike, privilege school. Or that he's a member of a team in New York, you know, that we tend to think of New York teams as getting too much free press. But nobody gets bashed more than Daniel Jones and he's won a playoff game. And so I grew up when I watched the Olympics and I've had a ball watch. watching the Olympics. So much patriotism, optimism. You know, the real stories aren't the ones people are talking about on Twitter. The real stories are Simone Biles, Katie Ladecki, these amazing women, Ukrainian athletes, Canadian athletes.

It's just been wonderful. But, you know, the Grifters are going to go to the negative. And talk about something that didn't know existed a month ago. But be that as it may, I grew up with baseball, football, basketball. there were box scores. And in gymnastics, when I watch it sometimes, I'm like, it's all subjective. I can't figure out the scoring. It's all subjective.

I mean, I know if somebody falls off, you know, one of the beams, it's bad news, but I can't tell. And that's one of the things that it's kind of mystifying to me about the Olympics. You train all these years. You cross your fingers. You get the right judge. But I was thinking about how I grew up with box scores and facts. And, you know, you could look at numbers and data. And so it's interesting as much as we bash Daniel Jones.

Yet, for like two years, people in the same city defended Zach Wilson. Daniel Jones is much better than Zach Wilson. Kenny Pickett was supported for a year in Pittsburgh. Daniel Jones is much better than Kenny Pickett. And then there's Justin Fields, who Daniel Jones is absolutely better than as well. You think I'm wrong? This is not gymnastics. Let's go to numbers.

This is not gymnastics. In every crucial category, without question with a worse offensive line, PFF, last two years, ranks the Giants O line as bad as any in the league, and with clearly fewer weapons. No DJ more, right? No DJ more on the outside. Daniel Jones has won over twice as many games, completes a significantly higher percentage of his passes, averages more yards a game, touchdown interception ratios better, so is the passer rating. Behind a significantly worse O' line with fewer weapons.

Well, well, Brian Dable, the head coach, is Matt Eberflus, the head coach. Both are on the hot seat. Both have not proven to be great head coaches. Both are very good on their side of the ball. The Bears week 10 last year on with the best defense in the league. didn't have the best defensive personnel. Eber Fluse can clearly, as a young coach, dial up his side of the ball. And Day Bulls done an excellent job with Josh Allen and getting Daniel Jones into the playoffs.

But they're both in a hot seat. Both were not really sure. Day Bulls got that fiery temper off-putting to some. Iber Fluse has changed his looked up, but is he over his head a little? They're both the same guy. We really don't know if they're going to last through the end of their contracts. We do not know. Both good their side of the ball. So also, Daniel Jones actually has a playoff win.

Justin Fields has never sniffed it. So it's interesting, as I watch the Olympics and so much is subjective, be very careful about being swayed by optics and aesthetics. Justin Fields looks to be better, but winning in this league is from the pocket. And he is an inaccurate thrower. Now, both guys are bad in the fourth quarter, but the difference is Daniel Jones is actually better there, too. The other thing to remember, whereas in Daniel Jones Division, since he's been there, the Eagles have made a Super Bowl. The Cowboys have won 12 games multiple times.

In Caleb Williams Division, they had to rebuild because Aaron Rogers left. His first few years, first couple years, the lines were a mess. and the Vikings are the Vikings. Oh, is okay. So just take this into consideration, but I watched Daniel Jones get in that fight yesterday, and I thought, God, does anybody say anything, including me, ever nice about this kid? Here they get into a fight, and he's jamming his head into it, and his teammates are pulling him off, and it's like, listen,

I don't have a problem criticizing Daniel or Justin Fields, but it's amazing who we at least are optimistic about. I mean, Justin Fields, everybody's like, that guy deserves a second chance. Maybe Daniel Jones just deserves one day of support. Even on HBO Max's hard knocks, they were mocking him, openly talking about his replacement, a college kid. Here was Daniel Jones yesterday about that scuffle. Situation happens like that. Just staying up for your guys.

But I thought it was good competitive practice all day to day. And, you know, we made some plays and did some good things. There's some things we need to show up for sure, but it's good, you know, good intensity and competitive spirit today. So again, not saying it's great, but I'm saying if Justin Fields has all these supporters, Daniel Jones is better in every crucial category. Maybe take a deep breath and I can give him a little support. A little support, little optimism this year.

Speaking of optics. And a level of optimism or hype that maybe isn't deserved. Micah Parsons, apparently yesterday in practice, just discombobulated the Cowboys' offense. And Micah Parsons says, I'm eating now. It's pretty much over. I'm in rhythm. I can single-handedly wreck the Cowboys' offense. Really?

Do you remember how dominating Micah Parsons was against the youngest play? playoff team since 1970, the Green Bay Packers? Two total tackles, zero sacks. He was invisible. He was also invisible mostly against Detroit, no sacks, and the Niners, no sacks and two pressures. Micah Parsons' three worst games of the year last year came against the three best teams he faced in the NFC,

Detroit, San Francisco, and Green Bay. Didn't do squat. He's talented, like death. He's not a savior. He's not as powerful as Miles Garrett. He's not as relentless as Boza for the Niners or T.J. Watt for the Steelers. He's not. He's Aidan Hutchison of the Lions, a very good player.

The difference is he is sold to us like a legend. Sort of like the quarterback for the Cowboys. Micah Parsons is productive, very good. if you look it up against really bad teams and then disappears in January. Heard that before? His biggest sack game was against awful Carolina. In fact, half of his sacks came against Washington, the Jets, and Carolina. In four playoff games, one sack and often invisible, disappears in January.

So today's opening in the herd is, deep diving. into the numbers with Micah Parsons against the best teams. Deep dive in the numbers about quarterbacks you bail on or support. This is not gymnastics. Numbers, box scores, data, completion

percentages, sacks against better tackles. This stuff stills matters. Nick Wright in one hour from now. So, did you see, I just loved Jim Harbaugh yesterday. So the

NCAA, which is, at this point, has no teeth, came out yesterday. Oh, Michigan. Impropriety. And Jim Harbaugh said, not apologizing. I don't lie, cheat, or steal. Never did. Unaware of it. And I believe him. I do believe him.

But in Jim Harbaugh's case, he won't bend a knee because he's right. The NCAA, toothless, without. power, gutted, thankfully, came out and has said, seven members of the Michigan staff were doing naughty things. Let me read you some of the things they did. And then I'll let you listen to Harbaugh, who was a riot yesterday. The draft by the NCAA says Harbaugh can face a show cause restriction if he ever returns to college sports.

He's not. He's going to go win Super Bowls for the Chargers. Chargers Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter and the DB coach Steve Klingscale came to the Chargers for Michigan. They're accused, this reads like a Saturday Night Live comedy skit. They're accused of violations at Michigan. Here's one of them. Klingscale is accused of helping a recruit get verified on Instagram. That same recruit, you could pay a million dollars a year to play.

out of high school. But this is one of the big ones that the assistant coach got one of his players verified on Instagram. I mean, is this a witch hunt or not? Another one is allegedly sending text messages to high school sophomores. You mean the same ones Ohio State or Michigan or Clemson or Georgia could pay $600,000 too legally? I mean, you've got to be kidding me on this.

this stuff. So you can pay a high school player half a million dollars cash. You can wear shirts. We pay players. Park Lambos in front of the recruiting facility. But you can't verify an IG account or send a text. This is a witch hunt. There is nothing in this ruling, nothing that proves Harbaugh knew any of it. He's being punished honestly because he said, no, you can't have my cell phone. No, it's nonsense. That's what he's in trouble for. The other part of the draft that I found interesting, it says he did not identify possible red flags. I didn't know he was the director of internal affairs at Michigan. I thought he was the football coach.

What a joke. The NCAA is a foregone era. It's a dinosaur. It's Jurassic. It's a, I mean, it's a relic. They have no power anymore. And this is a witch hunt. Day one on Jim Harbaugh's Michigan watch, they were going after him.

And you know who was really going after him? Michigan State and Ohio State. They're the ones getting all riled up here as Harbaugh started rolling them. I mean, I've had a saying for years. I wrote about it in my first book. Say it out loud. If you're wondering how dangerous something is, how formidable something is, say it out loud. I will.

really you want me to be outraged by that he was a target day one I know what my eyes told me Michigan built a powerhouse based on all of Harbaugh's career principles, physicality, intensity, every day at practice matters. I still don't know what Ohio State's offense is.

It's pretty. It's not physical. I don't know what Michigan State is either, other than a gigantic tire fire. But I know what Harbaugh's teams are, and I know what Jim Harbaugh is. And yesterday with the Chargers, he talked about these allegations.

Never lie? never cheat, never steal. I was raised with that lesson. I have raised my family on that lesson. I have preached that lesson to the teams that I've coached. No one's perfect. If you stumble, you apologize, and you make it right. Today, I do not apologize.

I did not participate, was not aware, nor complicit in those said allegations. So for me, it's back to work and attacking with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. Ticky-tack nonsense for a gutted and powerless NCAA. If Michigan wanted to send their aggressive attorneys after them, they'd win, hands down. This is desperate, it's ticky-tack, it's laughable.

I mean, you've got to be kidding me. verifying an Instagram account, writing a $100 check to a charity golf tournament. Really? This stuff doesn't even qualify as level two stuff. It's like level eight. Fake mustache, dark glasses on a cloudy day on the sidelines from an assistant. Low, low, low, low level one step above grad assistant, whose name is patio furniture to get a sideline pass?

I mean, come on, man. You've got to be kidding me. This stuff is nonsense. Good for Harbaugh. I know what I see when I watch Harbaugh teams. Physicality, toughness, resilience. If you think people really care about this outside of Columbus and East Lansing, bring up Pete Carroll's name in L.A.

Nobody cares. It's all. He won games. He changed kids' lives. He was optimistic. He was amazing for the city of Los Angeles. Nobody cares about the Reggie Bush nonsense. Nobody cares about this either outside of Columbus and East Lansing.

J-Mac with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Verifying an Instagram. It's good to be back hearing you just go off on some topics. Like college football, that stuff is just silly. I think, God.

Anyway, let's get to reality, which is the NFL. Colin, big news out of the Denver Broncos. They have listed Jarrett Stidham as the starting QB. QB won on the first unofficial depth chart rookie Boeux is third. behind the immortal Zach Wilson, who's second. Denver has their first preseason game Sunday against the Colts.

So let me guess, this is a motivational tactic. This is that we don't want to put pressure on him. Minnesota, Darnold starting. Basically, J.J. McCarthy was not even annoyed it as the backup, despite great highlights on the internet and Bo Nex Third. What they're saying is that this is a first, they haven't played a preseason game. What they're saying is the veteran quarterback leads.

And I think it's also a signal by Sean Payton and Kevin O'Connell. I'm not ending the competition. We haven't gotten to the preseason yet. I want these guys fired up. So I think both these offensive coaches know the game. This is the first depth chart. This is basically on practice. And the veterans on

practice, there's no question that Donald and Jared Stidham was there last year. I mean, Steadum knows the offense better than Bo Nicks. But I do think it's funny because you know I love Sam Darnel. We do. And he is clearly separated from J.J. McGarthe.

I think we had that in headlines last week. But nevertheless, I am just curious. So now, Bo Nix starting at third on the depth chart, we'll go against guys who probably are not going to be in the NFL, right, that are on the Colts in this first preseason game. Right. That's a good opportunity for Bo Nix to look pretty good. Is it not?

And, say, fourth quarter garbage time against UPS drivers and off-duty firefighters. Like, that's a real thing. Well, there's no question that Darnold will face the best, and Jarrett Stidham will face the best. of the other team in the first drive. So that's very, very cunning of you to spot that, is that Bo Nix now will be allowed to face guys that will not make the league,

and so will J.J. McCarthy. Bo Nix probably is going to cook those guys, too. And so is J.J. McCarthy. A few days off, I've got clarity. You know, I can see a lot, no alcohol over the weekend. Really, not really. But anyways, let's get to the next story. Justin Fields, getting a chance to prove he can be the sealer starter

with Russell Wilson still dealing with that calf injury, Fields has been taking advantage of this opportunity. Mike Tomlin talked about what has impressed him so far. I love his professionalism, his consistent approach to work. He's got to even keel demeanor that's good for leadership. And I've been surprised by his athleticism, to be quite honest with you. I've seen video, obviously, but see it up close and personal every day. He's a special athlete, man, he can do a lot.

We had talked about this, you and I last week, is that he's going to pop at practice. Whereas, you know, Russell Wilson may be more composed, has more snaps. There are guys that pop at practice. And I got news for you. Justin Fields, you go look at practice video in Chicago. He was great in practice. And there's certain guys, the athletic guys, I mean, like,

I can remember getting reports from like when Justin Herbert for the Chargers came to camp. people were like, that dude's got an arm. Like, didn't quite know exactly where to throw it. But, you know, athletes love, that's why Tyree Kill was voted the best player in the NFL. Why? He's the fastest player. Players are obviously, if you're at practice with a guy, it's like being in a weight room and a guy's clean and jerking 800 pounds or whatever. Like, it's impressive to guys who lift weights.

So, Justin Fields is going to be much more impressive from a player's perspective. Now, coaches go back and look at the film and then, may say he didn't read a defense and Russell did or vice versa. But it's not a shock that he's blowing guys away in camp. I'm going to go back to your opening rant, which I hear yesterday's was a banger. Just incredible stuff. But today you puts up some stats saying Daniel Jones is clearly out of better career than Justin Fields. In all the crucial stats, with a clearly worse O-line and fewer weapons, he is marginally better in all of them. And all I'm saying is, I'm not saying either of these guys as a franchise quarterback.

But it is interesting to listen to the chorus always support fields and everybody clobbered Daniel Jones. Daniel's better with a worse line. Time out. First of all, fumble's not listed. That's a key stat and Daniel Jones is a fumble machine. Number two, Daniel Jones has played looks like 21 more games. That's over

a full season. And by the way, Brian Davel, you were you were sandbagging a little. Brian Daibald's an incredible offensive mind. What he did in Buffalo, with Josh Allen's great. Matt Eber Fluce and Daniel Jones. And Matt Iber Fluse and Brian Daibble are both on the hot seat by October. That's true.

So we don't know if they're, by the way, Daybull's not sitting there every snap. Daibol and Iber Fluse are head coaches. They're doing a lot of walking around. And by the way, those are total yards and touchdown. So it includes rushing. Yeah. So anybody's saying, you know, well, what about the run? Daniel Jones is not Justin Fields, the rusher, but the dude can run.

Yes. Daniel is athletic. Luke Getzzi. as his OC the last couple weeks. Luke Getsy, I guarantee you he'll never be hired as a head coach in the NFL. I'm just saying, no shot. My only point was, if you ask fans, there's a huge separation between Justin Fields and Daniel. And all the crucial numbers lean to Daniel.

But I'll just say this, I'm starting to get the vibe that Fields is probably going to start week one. If this keeps up and Wilson, it's a nagging thing, remember, he's a little older. He's not some spring chicken, you know. Fields are like 25 years old. I think Fields is going to start week. That's just my guess. this and it would be I believe against Atlanta. Well yeah it would be.

Isn't he from? Isn't he, oh no, no, no, no. I think he went to high school in Georgia. Yeah, yeah. Yes. So that's a nice little homecoming for fields. I think you and I talked last year about him going to the Falcons. We thought the Falcons would be in play.

Yeah, because they have a great O line. He'd finally get weapons in O line. We thought Arthur Smith at the time would be the head coach. No, I think it's really interesting. And that will be, I don't know that he'll be able to hold on to the job all season. on to the job all season, but that would be pretty rough for our guy, Russ Wilson. I know you guys have a little bromance going on. Listen, I had a discussion, was it yesterday of the day before?

Was it, it was somewhere, I think it was in the building but not on the air. If Russell Wilson gets beat out by Justin Fields, it goes down as one of the strangest quarterback careers ever. So two Super Bowls, we viewed him as, he was in line to get some Hall of Fame boat. He's probably top five. I think he was going to the whole. He was headed to the whole thing. To Pete Carroll, Sean Payton, both bailing,

to then potentially getting beat out by Justin Fields, who the Bears just said, we're not interested. I mean, even the Giants said, we'll keep Daniel Jones. The bear's just like, six-round pick, we'll take it. Like, there's no injury. He's not 39? He takes incredible care of his body. It is one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

just an absolute off the cliff. Now, I'm not saying he should be blamed in Denver because the defense was a mess last year. But there is, I have pretty good connections in the Broncos Empire in their facility, is they just thought Russell did not read the defense and did not complete wide open passes regularly. That may be from a Sean Payton perspective. but it's a weird career. Yeah, I think teams took away the deep ball with the too high shell, and he couldn't just chuck bombs to Medcaf and lock it.

So ask yourself, J. Mack does this all the time. Why is the story getting out? So not only is this story not getting out, it's detailed. Why would this story... I mean, they're already saying that the offers for New England and the offers for Cleveland, they've laid them out. Why? Because San Francisco wants you to know we're on the right side. We're stacked on offense. He's had one great year. He still has a year left on his contract. We're not going to pay him like

Justin Jefferson, nor should they. He's not as good as Justin Jefferson. He's not as consistently productive as Devante Adams. I don't think he's as spectacular as Jamar Chase. He wants to be paid like a top three or four receiver, and I love his talent. But I would be paid. I would be wouldn't pay him. When the details are getting out like they're getting out here, and I'm not saying he's a bad kid. He's very emotional. He's very young. He's a wide receiver. I've watched this in my entire life. But San Francisco's letting you know we've offered him. We have him around the facility. We bro hug. We like him. But we're not going to pay him what Jamar Chase is making. We're not going to pay him what Devante Adams makes. And we're not going to pay him Justin

Jefferson. And they shouldn't because he's got a year left. He'd been there four years. He wasn't like Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase where immediately popped. He's not as concessant as Devon to Adams. So this thing is he's, and I'm not saying he's a bad kid. He's really emotional. And there's a reason, myself included, where there have been multiple reports that have fluctuated back and forth. I was told on Thursday he was close to signing.

He was in the building. He had a very good day around his teammates, and I was told he wants to do it. But he is up and down. It's very fluid. That's why you're getting legitimate reporters. I'm not even counting myself here. People with the feet on the ground, reporters, all over the map on this story. But you are seeing now details come out.

And details come out when somebody wants it out. And the Niners want it out. Like, here's what we're offering. Here are the draft picks. But I'm on the team side. I said this yesterday. You weren't here. But I said if you're talking about talent, he's great.

But if you're talking about valuable, Trent Williams, who's holding. out is much more valuable. They can win without Brandon Ayyuk. They do not win when Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams do not play. Even with Kyle Shanahan, they don't win. You can win with Brandon Ayuk. He makes you better, but he doesn't make you significantly worse if he doesn't play. They drafted two wide receivers.

If one of them can play, Debo, McCaffrey, Kittle, Jennings, one of the rookie receivers, they'll be fine. This franchise is built on physicality and brainpower. it's nice to have an over-the-top receiver. They're great. But over-the-top receivers, Tyreek Hill. Kansas City's better since he left. Okay?

So I'm on San Francisco. I'm on the team side on this. I can like two things are true. I can like a receiver. I'm not paying him Justin, Jefferson, Devonthe Adams. I don't care what the market is. I'm not getting close to that. That's not what he is yet.

All right. So there's a framework in place for, a trade. I'm in the minority on this. I still don't think it's crazy that he could sign. They're just, San Francisco's like, here it is. If he leaves, we're ready to go.

Yesterday I'm driving home. And, you know, my college roommate, a good friend Dean up in Seattle, he's been watching my money forever, right? And, you know, so I dollar cost average, write a check every month, try to, you know, get my retirement in order. He calls me about five times a year. He called yesterday. All right. We got some powder. Let's put some money in the market.

It's down 1,000. That's what every good broker in the country did to his clients. The world wasn't ending, and it didn't restart today. The doom and gloom crowd, they're just waiting. The world's ending. And college football three years ago started the NIL and the transfer portal, the doom and gloom crowd. It will ruin college football, which, by the way, set a television ratings record last.

year. I looked at the preseason coaches poll top 25. It's the same damn teams that were in there pre-portal. Couple basketball schools like Arizona and Kansas. Utah still somewhere around 13th or 15th. It's a lot of Ohio states in Texas, Bama, Notre Dame,

Michigan, Penn State, Florida State, Georgia. LSU. Remember when Christian McCaffrey skipped a useless bowl game? This is the beginning of the end of Colin. football. No, a great player did not need to after carrying Stanford for several years playing a useless bowl game. Either did Leonard Fernett. Take a deep breath, doom and gloomers. The market's up 500 today. By the way, if you go back to 2019 pre sort of NIL transfer portal, six of the top

10 teams in this coach is polar in that one in Oregon and that one's 11. In this one, they're three. I mean, well, the rich are going to get richer. The rich have always been rich. Texas has always had money, and my school, Eastern Washington has never had any. Purdue doesn't have any money. Ohio states, a Brinks truck. USC and Oregon out west, a lot of talent, a lot of money. You know who doesn't?

Oregon State, my whole life. So it's a top-heavy sport. It's been lob-sided forever. It's like tennis. I mean, there's always one or two great men's players. or women's players that dominate the sport. So it's set a record in television ratings last year. It will, with a 12-team playoff this year,

the ratings, the bosses upstairs at this company at Fox say the ratings could be up 15 to 18%. The sport financially, yes, it's top-heavy. It's always been top-heavy. I mean, I'm telling you, man, fear, sells, panic, gets attention. Markets up 500 today. Colin, how's the economy? Fine.

It was fine yesterday. It's fine today. It was a buying opportunity. Recessions, by the way, are garage sales for the prepared. Keep a little cash on hand for buying opportunities. So the kickoff was, they're bringing out the new kickoff.

And it is different looking. I will admit that. But Sean McVeigh was talking about this, and let's be honest about McVeigh. He made jet sweeps like protocol in the NFL. I mean, you'd see him a kid. He changes everything.

He's one of the real proactive coaches in the league. A lot of people in life react. Sean McVeigh is proactive. Last year, remember when they opened up against the Seahawks, Pete Carroll got caught flat-footed. They literally changed their entire run game and run concepts. Pete Carroll didn't know what hit him, and Pete's a good coach. So there's a lot of people in life that change because they have to.

You know, the doctor comes to you and says, you can't smoke four packs a day or you'll be dead. That's reacting. Proactive is somebody that's in shape trying a new diet to get even healthier. There's a difference. One I'm going to give credit to. Not the chain smoker. So even Sean McVe acknowledged this new kickoff is a little odd.

It just feels weird. I mean, it doesn't look like anything that has been anything I've been familiar with with football. And I know the intent is right. and we'll try to figure it out and I know everybody that's been involved in that has their intentions in the right place but it's a very foreign looking play and ultimately there's

however we feel that we've got to be able to adjust and make sure that we adapt and it can be something that's an advantage to us and it's one thing to work it against each other but when you see it against some other teams there'll be a lot that we can really dive into with the film that's what I mean by interesting so here's what I like about it the kickoff was a dead play 73% went into the end zone

It was a dead play. It looks like the PAT was. But now I watch the Hall of Fame game, seven of eight were returned. And it's going to give, not the complainers, but the creative, proactive coaches are going to find some tricks with this. Kickoffs are kind of played out. About three of them are returned for touchdowns a year, three or four or five. Like, it's played out. You know, the reverse, the sideline to sideline pass.

My guess is Andy Reid or a Sean Payton or a. or a Sean McVeigh will come up with something very, very clever, and that rewards you, the fan, and me, the broadcaster. So don't compare baseball and football. Baseball changes because their attendance and their TV ratings tanked for a decade straight. And companies like Fox said, speed the game up, or we're not signing another monster contract. I'm told ESPN wants mostly out of baseball,

and we're not in love with it sometimes here. That's the difference. Baseball changes because they have to. Executives go to baseball and say, create some in-season tournaments, speed the game up, change your schedule. That's reactive to declining ratings and social currency. Football changes like Oprah did. Number one, she changes her show.

Tiger Woods, number one golfer in the world, changes his clubs. That's not being reactive, it's proactive. That's the difference between the NFL and baseball. NFL's the king. It dominates 97 of the top 103 TV shows last year. We're football games. They don't have to change anything. But they're proactive as a business.

Baseball changes because they have to. They recently signed a contract with Roku. $30 million. $30 teams, $30 million. A million a team. Embarrassing. That's what happens when you start, playoff games, end at one in the morning,

and the games last four hours. I mean, again, people that change because they have to are not getting credit. people that change and don't have to, proactive, I'm given credit to. So my takeaway is the creative thinkers in this league will use this kickoff. We'll see all sorts of clever crafty ways to manipulate the kickoff team. And I'm here for it. I'm here for it.

It's a new rule. Creative guys will win, like always. J-MAC, you see Charles Barkley calling out Joe L.M.B. A little surprised given Barkley's... You know, shall we say history with weight? I mean, come on. That's a bit of a low blow. Now, Chuck did not have the injuries when he was playing.

He was able to still play a ton of games in minutes. Well, Chuck was known as kind of, he kind of mailed in practice. Yeah, but this has been a thing forever with centers. Remember Kobe went after Shaq? It was like, if you would work out and be in shape, you'd be one of the best players ever. And they got in fights repeatedly because Shaq's like, I'm just going to show up and dominate. Yeah. So I love Charles, but he was known as not a great.
