Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey, Jonas, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, Hope From a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice. Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me. This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Listen to Help from a Hypocrite Wednesdays on the Eyeheart. Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, it's Edwin Castro, also known as Castro 1021. And I'm Conky, his best friend and business manager. And we've got a new show called The 1021 Podcast. I'm taking you behind the scenes on how I became one of Twitch's most popular streamers. We also love sports. And with the World Cup right around the corner, we'll be breaking down the biggest
Starting point is 00:01:55 storylines ahead of the big tournament here in the USA. Listen to the 1021 podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday on Fox Sports Radio in noon to 3 Eastern, 9 a.m. to noon Pacific. Find your local station for the herd at Fox SportsRedia.com or stream us live every day on the IHeart Radio app by searching Fox Sports Radio or FSR. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. But it is Friday. Lots going on as we head into the weekend live in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:02:42 It's the herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be listening or watching. Thanks for making us part of your day. Well, it was another night where Draymond Greed was center stage. Yes, indeed. Your friend, Draymond, yes. Sheepshot artist. Well, let's just say this. Whatever path you choose to take in life,
Starting point is 00:03:04 I'm not going to be judgmental. But we have history of NBA players who choose the villain role. The three best of all time were Bill Lambeer, Dennis Rodman, and Draymond Green. It was a chosen path. Lambeer and Draymond were better offensively, but they played the wrestling heel too. And with that, it gets messy. So last night's another Draymond night. he gets a foul. It's obviously a technical foul. They go to the replay. You could argue it's a
Starting point is 00:03:40 flagrant. I wouldn't, but some would. Now, he has told the line his entire career. I don't see him as a victim, but I have defended him. I defended Lambeer and Rodman. They are great at what they do. They provide an edge and toughness. They're annoying. They get into people's heads. Now, Draymond also has some impulse control issues, and Steph Curry and Steve Kerr are often almost therapists during these outbursts. It's interesting, Draymond actually statistically gets more technicals when Steph Curry doesn't play. So there is something psychologically about Draymond when his guy, when the star's gone, he gets ramped up. Then later in the game, he's on the bike. Draymond has an altercation with a fan, a fan says something.
Starting point is 00:04:29 inappropriate. The fan, it's a slur, gets tossed out of the game, as he should be. There's knuckleheads everywhere. And afterwards, Draymond Green was very upset about an agenda and how he is often viewed in his eyes. Look like the angry black man. I'm not an angry black man. I'm a very successful, educated black man with a great family, and I'm great at basketball. I'm great at what I do. The agenda is trying to keep making me look like an angry black man. It's crazy. I'm sick of it. ridiculous. Now, I have said this before. I have employed him for several years. He's as coachable as any employee I have because Tom Ezzo and Steve Kerr are tough coaches, so he likes to be coached.
Starting point is 00:05:11 He gets along with people. He's totally professional. But he has chosen the path like Bill Lambere did to be a confrontational player with that path in life because fame comes riches and it gets messy. I went to a Bill Lambere game and heard people attack him in the layup line before the game. That is the path Lambier chose. He didn't have to do that. And Draymond Green, last night was Steph out. You knew the crowd was going to be all over him. So that's the path he has taken.
Starting point is 00:05:47 But I would say with Lambere, and I'm old enough to remember Bill Lambier with those pistons, that Lambere and Dremont are effective, they're complex, they embrace it, it is a very volatile path to take. You'll get rich, you'll get famous, and you'll get a ton of crap. If Steph Curry or Kobe Bryant beat you, it feels artful. If Rodman, Lambere, or Dremon beat you, it feels like they're cheating. They're skirting the rules. They're pushing the envelope. And they are. and I have defended it. Bulls fans and Laker fans, they thought Lambere was inappropriate. It's one thing to get beat by the artist, by the scalpel. It's another thing to be beaten over the head, and sometimes with Lambier and Rodman and
Starting point is 00:06:39 Draymond, it feels that way, so aggression meets aggression, and the fans are really, really. I sat in the Lambere game. I've been to a Draymond game on the road. It is different. but I will say this about the value of what Draymond provides. So the three most disruptive players in terms of like style in my life are Rodman, Lambeer, and Draymont. Now, Lambier and Draymond are better offensive players, but those three. Think about this for a second.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Who are they coached by? In my opinion, the four best coaches in league history, at least in my life history. Popovich, Chuck Daly, Phil Jackson, and Steve Kerr. So the smartest coaches in league history had the three villains because they understand the value, the rebounding, the screen setting, the toughness. NBA playoffs have always been loosely officiated. They allow more physicality. Phil Jackson absolutely knew that they had different rules for Rodman.
Starting point is 00:07:45 He could go to Vegas during the finals. and the same with Lambert or Draymond Green, they have incredible value. But being the villain is a choice and it's messy. Here is Draymond angry after, and here's Steve Kerr as well. I look like the angry black man. I'm not an angry black man. I'm a very successful, educated black man with a great family. And I'm great at basketball.
Starting point is 00:08:14 I'm great at what I do. The agenda to try to keep making me look like an angry black man is crazy. I'm sick of it. It's ridiculous. He's going to have to stay composed. Obviously, we need him. And I'm confident that he will because he knows, you know, he knows the circumstances. It's part of, it's part of Dream Mountain.
Starting point is 00:08:34 You know, the same thing that makes him such a competitor and a winner. puts him over the top sometimes. And, you know, we know that. And it's our job to try to help him. Stay, stay poised, stay composed. But the competition is so meaningful to him that, you know, occasionally he goes over the line. And last night was viewed as going over the line.
Starting point is 00:09:04 All right, speaking of noisy. A couple of stories here. There was a story by Pablo Tori, talented podcaster, that said, Carolina had banned Bill Belichick's girlfriend Jordan Hudson from the football facility. Carolina came out this morning and said, no, she's not an employee of our university. She is welcome in the football facilities. She'll continue to manage coach Belichick's personal brand outside. So I've said this.
Starting point is 00:09:31 Jordan Hudson is a very young and ambitious and willful young. young lady. And colleges are full of hierarchies. So this is going to be combative. This was probably bound to get a little turbulent. Belichick empowered her. She took the baton. She's aggressive. If you look at her life history, this is a moment in time for her. It's all right. Be empowered and find success. I get it.
Starting point is 00:10:04 But from day one, Belichick to me on a college campus never made sense. He didn't draft well because he didn't pay a lot of attention, despite his dad's history. He didn't pay a lot of attention to college football. You could tell from his drafts. He had no feel for it. Belichick then hires Mike Lombardi, who I know at North Carolina. These are NFL guys first, second, and third, and fourth and fifth and sixth. They don't care about being part of a university's athletic department. fake it, they can go to a basketball game.
Starting point is 00:10:37 What I would argue in all of this is Belichick is rebranding himself. Young girlfriend, college campus young, young recruits, he's staying current. I'm surprised he didn't go to Coachella. Hey, I thought there'd be coaches here. Well, what's going on? I mean, the truth is, the NFL viewed Bill Belichick as old, combative, and grumpy and one team Atlanta gave him the time of day. And yet in the last 12 months, what has he done?
Starting point is 00:11:14 He went on ESPN and laughed and smiled a lot. He found a young girlfriend. He's on a young college campus. He's doing TikTok and Snapgram and Insta chat and all that stuff he used to make fun of. I believe Bill is rebranding himself, even if you look at his contract at Carolina, the out is after a year. So I'm not blaming Bill whose DNA is pro football
Starting point is 00:11:41 wanting to use Carolina to get back to the NFL. I think that's his real dream. Nor do I blame Jordan Hudson for being ambitious, willful, driven. And budding heads, if it happened with anybody on a college campus. College campuses is all about tenured professor. I mean, here at USC and UCLA, it's politics, it's tenure,
Starting point is 00:12:04 it's you know everybody's trying to get their space and their lane and protect it and get that nice pension um i think belichick's rebranding but him on a college campus i i've said this from the very beginning it just doesn't feel natural it doesn't feel terribly authentic you can go you know him laughing on espn he gave it the college try but bill's not a media guy bill doesn't have any interest in the media guy you've watched his book media tour it's not who he is He's a pro football coach, the best defensive coach of all time, the most profound and prodigious NFL coaching resume of all time. The game changed. It's more collaborative.
Starting point is 00:12:47 He tends to be more bottom line and a little bit corrosive and tough and combative and collaborative and combative are two different things. And, hey, Jordan, can you give me a little help in the branding stuff? That's what it feels like to me. I'm not saying they don't have a great time together. But I've said I think they're both kind of using each other to empower their careers going forward. I'm here for it. I'm okay with it.
Starting point is 00:13:14 But I've never bought into Belichick and a college campus fits. It's like Bobby Knight and the pros. That was never going to work. Belichick 12 years at Carolina. Mack Brown feels like a college coach. He's smiling, not great in the details, wonderful guy, southern smooth Texas charm. Jack Brown's a college coach. Nick Saban could do both.
Starting point is 00:13:39 He just didn't stay around the NFL long enough to be a great head coach. But this has always felt a little unnatural to me, and that's okay. So you had the Pablo Tory report. Carolina comes back and says that's not true. Julian Edelman was on our show earlier this week on all the noise around Belichick, Carolina, and the current situation. The number one thing we used to talk about all the time in New England was distractions. Let's not make distractions.
Starting point is 00:14:14 The game's already as hard as it is. We're talking about this three weeks later. It's on ABC. It's on this. It's on that. I mean, it's getting to a point where we got to start worrying about the ACC. We got to start worrying about Dabo Sweeney. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:32 He sees it. Julian sees it. He is keeping it real on this. I don't feel Mike Lombardi, Bill Belichick, Carolina, that doesn't sound like a Tom Hanks-Rita Wilson marriage. It doesn't feel like 20, 30 years to me. Even if Bill of Belichick was 55, he's a pro guy. You can usually see a guy.
Starting point is 00:14:56 That guy's a college guy, that guy's a pro guy. Dabo Zweeney's a college guy. Belichick's a pro guy. And he reads a pro guy. Sean Payton's a pro guy. J-Mack, Draymond Green gets everybody arrived at you almost knew last night
Starting point is 00:15:10 without Steph Curry. We talked about this on the show yesterday. Golden State had one way to win. Get ugly, get physical, and it went sideways. I don't know. Other than Jonathan Cominga having a pretty solid game, I saw nothing from Golden State
Starting point is 00:15:24 that leads me to believe they're winning any more games in the series. I mean, Anthony Edwards played like crap again last night. Got hurt. On one ankle, yeah. Yeah, I mean, listen, their bench showed up, Nasree, Devencenzhenzo. Julius Randall, pretty good. Devenzo's trending toward Draymond territory with some of these two shots. Well, he's a very, again, I don't think he's Draymond, Robbier, but he's a very physical feisty player.
Starting point is 00:15:45 I think his dad was a cop. Well, he's a Villanova guy. Villanova guys are tough. You go after Luca and LeBron, and now in this series, Jimmy Butler, he had a hard shot on him. You know who likes DeFenzo? Chris Finch. He's his tough guy. everybody needs an enforcer.
Starting point is 00:16:02 You know? Jay Wright loved him. Yeah. I mean, the bottom line is I'll defend Rodman, Lambere, Defend Genzo, Draymond Green, every. What do we think the Celtics are missing? Dog. Tough guy. Minnie's got dog.
Starting point is 00:16:19 I mean, I know, I'll tell you who's got dog, Denver. Yokic has banged on players for years. Denver's got dog. Boston had Marcus Smart. They were like, too much. The dog thinks he's too much of a big dog. taking all the shots, no thanks. I'm sorry, I'm going to defend these guys forever,
Starting point is 00:16:33 not just because I've worked with Draymond. I'll defend them forever. Popovich, Phil Jackson, Steve Kerr, Chuck Daly. Four best coaches arguably ever. All loved their enforcer. It's also like when you and I hang out, you need me to step in sometimes when fans get overzealous with you
Starting point is 00:16:50 and you don't want to buy your drink. I'm like, hey, hey, Calh. Settle down. Yeah. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeard Radio app. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
Starting point is 00:17:04 We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:17:16 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we, should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
Starting point is 00:17:38 This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapults Jacob into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking things. criminal conspiracies I've ever come across.
Starting point is 00:19:01 When Jacob met Levan this went to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know. Is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Highlights are trending, opinions are flying, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where Sports Slice comes in. I'm Timbo. Every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the plays, the controversies,
Starting point is 00:19:48 and the stories behind the headlines. We go straight to the source, the athlete themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions, the stuff nobody gets to hear. The laughs, the drama, the triumphs, the moments that never make the highlight real. From viral moments to historic games, from buzzer beaters to controversial calls,
Starting point is 00:20:05 we break it down, give you context, and ask the questions everybody wants answered. SportsSlice brings you closer to the action with stories told by the people who live them. Listen to SportsSlice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more,
Starting point is 00:20:20 follow Timbo Sliced Life 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. So this is interesting. Brian Winhorst is a guy I trust, and Brian Winhorst has been talking about this over the last couple days. If the Celtics lose this series, and I still think Boston should win it. But we acknowledge this yesterday. The NBA is allowing the most physicality that I remember in the playoffs,
Starting point is 00:20:46 even above most years, and we told you and have for years, this is what the NBA does. It's a different level this year. And that plays into New York's hand much more than it does, the same thing. Celtics hand. But I still think the Celtics should be favored to win the series. And I know that's Looney Tunes. But Winhorst has been saying win or lose, but especially lose,
Starting point is 00:21:08 they're going to break this team up. They have new owners, and there's just, there's a lot of money here if you don't win. But what's interesting is Brad Stevens is a very smart GM, and he is always ahead of the curve. If they go after Janus, and they're one of the
Starting point is 00:21:28 few teams that would have a package to do it, and he could stay in the east. What does it tell you about what he thinks about Tatum? Fans tend to think that if you score a bunch of points, you're a number one. No, James Hardin was never a number one. He was a number one score. But Houston mistakenly thought you could build around him. Westbrook, Chris Paul, he didn't work with anybody because he doesn't work on the defensive end, and he's flighty and flaky. Okay, so he's not a number one. He's a number one score.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Kauai and M.B. To me, they can't be number ones. They're never available. You can't have a quarterback play 11 to 12 games a year. I don't care if there was good as Lamar Jackson. You've got to be there. Every single Sunday playing hurt, you've got to be there. And so the NBA now even has minimums for awards. You have to play so many games. So I've always said this. I've always called Anthony Davis the best number two in the sport. he has the talent to be a one, but you can't really depend on him. Sometimes he's there, sometimes offensively, he's not present. So if I had to pick a starting five with one bench guy is the best number two's in the league, many of these feel like number ones. I'd have Jimmy Butler,
Starting point is 00:22:47 Jalen Brown, Chet Holmgren, Anthony Davis, Kaui Leonard, and KD. And you think, oh, KD's a one. No, he's not. You can't build around him. He's a wanderer. You can never get an answer. He didn't like confrontation in the locker room from Draymond or on the bench. Steph is a one. KD's personality. His game's a one. So is John Moran's game.
Starting point is 00:23:11 So is Zion Williamson's game. But they're twos, gifted twos. So to me, there are four things you need to be a one. Production. I mean, you can't score 12 a game and be a one. Production. Number two, physical and emotional. Reliability. You gotta be there. You got to have your head on straight. That's hardened.
Starting point is 00:23:34 Not a one. Number three is durability. Kauai. You got to play. And number four is dog. Gotta be a dog. And that's where Jason Tatum, and I'm not saying Tatum's not a one. But he struggles with the fourth one. He got to be talked into it. Even when he didn't play much in the Olympics, in his pro. his response was, well, it's just part of basketball. You think you're going to sit Kobe and MJ and not hear from it?
Starting point is 00:24:07 You think you're going to sit LeBron and not hear from it? He was like, Michael Jordan still holds a grudge because Isaiah Thomas froze him out in an all-star game. In an all-star game. Number four is dog. You want the ball and you demand it. When I watched Jason Tatum's last shot, he goes left, chooses the wrong side, works himself into a double, goes into the defender, and shoots a fallaway.
Starting point is 00:24:36 Two of his last three shots were followways. I'm not denying he's a one, but he struggles with dog. He just does. And so I'm fascinated to see what Brad Stevens does. When they brought in Porzingis and Drew Holliday, what they were telling you was, you know, We need to bring in two more offensive guys because sometimes our guy is not quite as dependable in big spots as we like. I always said this. You can tell what a team thinks of its quarterbacks by the plays it calls.
Starting point is 00:25:15 You can tell what a GM thinks of his stars by what he surrounds him with. So if they said, we'll get rid of Jalen Brown, we'll do this, we'll do this, we'll do this, we'll bring in Yannis. They're telling you, sometimes with Tatum, we're not sure if he got that dog. Yonis may not be able to hit a free throw. He wants to dominate. LeBrono was wanted to. Michael, we all know the players. Bird, magic, we all know.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Doesn't mean you play great in every game six and seven. I'm not saying that. Everybody has bad games. Here's Rick Buecker yesterday on Tatum. He doesn't have a go-to spot. He doesn't have a go-to shot. He took fewer shots. at the rim this season than he ever has in his career.
Starting point is 00:26:00 And his mid-range went down as well. What compensated for that? He took nearly half of his shots from three-point range. So now we're looking at your go-to guy who, if his three-point shot is not falling, which it has not in this series, what's he going to? I've said this. Phil Jackson may have had the triangle,
Starting point is 00:26:24 but sometimes Colby and MJ just went, yeah, We're going to do my triangle, not yours. Give me the ball. I think Tatum too often complies and is collaborative with this analytical three-point parade. And I think he should push back. And sometimes, guys, I'm getting a bucket. I'm taking the last eight shots. And I'm not shooting threes.
Starting point is 00:26:47 I'm getting buckets. But he's such a nice kid, and he's so collaborative. This is just my opinion that this three-point analytic parade that Boston does, He just goes along with it. I see him constantly beat guys off the dribble, then step back and shoot a three. Dude, just get to the basket and dunk. Just go to the basket, get better shots. But he is such a quality guy.
Starting point is 00:27:07 And again, to me, there's four things you've got to have to be an absolute one. And I'm not saying he doesn't have dogs sometimes, but, man, it can be a struggle. J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Just promise me we'll bring back that list for later on in the show. Can you promise me that?
Starting point is 00:27:27 That's my, it's my current number two All-Star team. We must talk about it later, okay? Deal. You unhappy with it? Yes. Anyways, let's get to her in life game ward, fresh off being the number one pick of the draft, and he's one of the favorites to win offensive rookie of the year. Well, last year's winner of the award,
Starting point is 00:27:48 Jaden Daniels had one of the best rookie seasons for a quarterback in NFL history. Here's his advice to Cam Ward. Just go out there and have fun. Enjoy playing the game that you've played since you were a kid. Boy, it's that easy. Just have fun, says Jaden Daniels. Well, I will say this. There is, you know, somebody years ago told me in our profession,
Starting point is 00:28:10 he said, do your prep and then let it rip. Don't overthink the room. There is value in saying, like, Peyton Manning was a legendary teeth clencher. Bill Polly and his GM said, like, Like, he wanted to practice on Saturday. And Saturday for the Colts was Family Day. Payton's like, no, no, I think we can get more work in. There is value to just saying and talking yourself into, I've done the prep, let's go have fun.
Starting point is 00:28:34 So I don't think that's bad advice. I think paralysis by analysis. And I think Cam Ward's style is fun. And he should lean into his style. Like, I'm going to coach Caleb Williams, and I'm going to coach Jaden Daniels. and I'm going to coach Laura Jackson. But the last thing I'm going to say
Starting point is 00:28:55 as a coach that I'm going out there, put my arm around him and say, hey, you've done the work, go have fun. So I don't think that's a bad message. I don't want Lamar getting tight. He gets tight in the playoffs. Go do you. You know, obviously our kids play sports.
Starting point is 00:29:09 That's like the last thing I say to them. You get out of the car at the tournament. Hey, go have fun. Do your best. Have fun. That's a smart advice from Jane Daniels. Now, the question is, you know, We haven't seen Cam Ward in a lot of high leverage games.
Starting point is 00:29:21 At Miami, he wasn't playing in big ones. He had some close games, but... I like his mindset. I like his personality. He's low-key. He's humble. I like everything about it. He's a little backyard football.
Starting point is 00:29:32 But, man, I have to look in the mirror on that. The league is getting more backyard football at quarterback. Well, Patrick Mahomes started it. I really... Well, I mean, Steve Young and a lot of guys that moved around. But at some point, I watched Pure Pocket quarterbacks, and it does feel like you don't get a play with 25% of the playbook. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:29:52 Next up is Aaron Rogers. Listen, I tried to stamp him out of the show, what, two weeks ago? We did that. He's back, Colin, unfortunately. Because your guy, Peter Schrager, says that Rogers is still deliberating a decision to sign with Pittsburgh, adding that while the team doesn't have any further insight than they did during the draft, they're willing to wait on the quarterback. Now, is there a world where Rogers is like, hey, let me see how long I can wait this out?
Starting point is 00:30:17 quarterback somewhere else gets hurt during training camp. Brock Purdy and the Niners fall apart. Do you think he's waiting for something else a better option than the Steelers? I don't think he, or is it Pittsburgh or Boston? I feel like he, this is, nobody knows with Aaron. I feel like he just wants to make sure everything's right with Pittsburgh. It's never, it's never, everything's never going to be right. If you're waiting for perfection, you're going to wait forever.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Yes, but I think Aaron's take is it's retirement or the Steelers. You know my theory on this has always been that he's, just making sure the Brock Purdy deal is done. It's still not done, right? No, it's not done. A lot of reports on that. But nothing from the Niners to suggest that there's issues. Of course not.
Starting point is 00:30:58 They wouldn't leak that. Well, last year with IUC, they were up front that things were not going. I was disruptive. Brock Purdy's not disruptive. I think if I was Aaron, I'm going to give the Niners negotiations four or five more days. That's what I would do. I would take Shanahan over Tomlin if I was a quarterback. Now, maybe I'm wrong, and he admitted to this.
Starting point is 00:31:21 You know, he acknowledged or told the Steelers I'm going. If I was Aaron Rogers, I would make sure the Brock Purdy deal is all buttoned up. He has also said publicly, I'd pay, I'd play for $10 million. Well, Purdy at 52 or Aaron at 10? Pretty easy choice for me. Well. I'm just saying. I mean, Rogers for one or Pretty for four.
Starting point is 00:31:43 Why wouldn't he sign? I don't know. That's the big mystery. And listen, all these people are reporting, nobody knows. Nobody has any clue. We've been hearing Brock Purdy. It's close for like three months down. Yeah, isn't that funny?
Starting point is 00:31:57 So you think it is? There's issues behind the scenes. I'm not saying issues. I'm saying if I was Aaron Rogers, I would much rather play for Kevin O'Connell or Kyle Shanahan than defensive-minded Pittsburgh. Out in the East Coast, which I did. I didn't like it, and it was a circus.
Starting point is 00:32:16 I, Pittsburgh and Aaron Rock, Does that feel like a place Aaron Pittsburgh? Doesn't sound right. So is this like, you know, this girl wants to go to the prom with you? You're not sure, but the girl you really want, she's on the rocks with her boyfriend. By the way, women do that too to guys. They do. If the girl breaks up with her boyfriend, all of a sudden, hey, that's who I want for the prom.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Maybe Rogers really wants the niners. Nobody knows, and Aaron would never admit if it's true. But what is he waiting for? And I've always said, just as a smart guy, if I'm saying, if I'm saying, saying, I want to play one more year. Pittsburgh may want two. Maybe he doesn't want to be a mentor. Just the idea, I get Kyle Shanahan in California.
Starting point is 00:32:58 I can do my private jet down to Malibu the minute after games end, or I'm in Pittsburgh. I don't know. I'm just telling you, if I was in. Why do you say Pittsburgh? Well, I mean, I have a place in Malibu. I didn't buy a place in Dayton, Ohio. I like the warm weather. I got a beach place in Malibu.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Niners game, Saturday 1 o'clock window. I am home on the beach having a marguerite at 5.45. Coastal elite cowards. Or I'm having a craft beer at Sully's in Pittsburgh. I mean, I'm just saying, what would you do? Yeah. You don't have to ask me. Anyways, let's go to the final story call to the NBA.
Starting point is 00:33:39 LeBron and the Lakers obviously lost in the first round. Well, now LeBron's on his podcast with Steve Nash. and LeBron addressed the criticism he and Luca have received since they got eliminated by the Wolves. Teams win championships, and I understand that, and it's never just about me and Luca. It was never just about, you know, Anthony Edwards and Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:34:01 You know, it was always Minnesota versus, like, and I understand that, and I am at a point in my career now where I don't lose sleep over that. Like, oh, how did me in Luca Luke? Like, well, yeah, well, there's eight other guys on the, Yeah, and for the record, he's absolutely right. When LeBron was in his athletic prime, the eight guys on the roster did not matter as much. But at this point, with LeBron, the roster composition matters a lot.
Starting point is 00:34:32 And the Laker, this is what I've been arguing all week. The Lakers roster is not close to good enough. They were the three-seed and won a ton of gains, Colin. Come on. Regular season. Now, Boston was dominant over New York in the reg. Tatum average like 34 a game against a second. Unbeatable. Now he can't hit a shot.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Here's an interesting thing on LeBron. So they lose in the playoffs. He does this podcast, and you know this is going to go all over social media. People are going to pick it apart. I so wish Michael Jordan had been doing a podcast after that first year in Washington with the Wizards. Well, he was done. He had his money. He wanted to own the team. He didn't care. He didn't care about women.
Starting point is 00:35:10 I would love to have heard about, because this is another reason people don't like LeBron. They're just, oh, now he's blaming the other eight guys on the court, which is reality. He's not blaming them. He's being honest. Minnesota, and this is true, has a much deeper, better roster. But the Lakers didn't lose because of LeBron. He averaged, by the way, 25, 9, and 5 on 48% shooting 35% from 3. LeBron has always sent messages.
Starting point is 00:35:36 He's very smart. You look at it as calculated. I look at it as smart. He is sending a message, improve the message. The roster. Gabe Davis is nice in February and March. You get to the playoffs, we need something a little, we need more ammo. LeBron's totally right on this.
Starting point is 00:35:56 Yeah, this roster, and I'm sorry, I'll argue it all day. It's not close. How about this? We've got a better roster. The Indiana Pacers are the Lakers. It's not close. Pacers have like nine guys they can play. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:09 I don't even think anybody in the league would argue take Indiana's roster over the Lakers and Clippers. You're like Ben Matherin's like a seventh or eighth guy. He would be the sixth man on the Lakers, undeniable. By the way, the cabs were great in the regular season, too. How's that working out? O and two. O.C. was dominant.
Starting point is 00:36:25 One in one now going to Denver. I know you're not betting NBA right now because it's suicide. I bet NBA. Did you look at the lines for tonight and Saturday? No, give me the lines tonight. Well, first of all, all of the road teams are favored. Pacers are underdogs at home against the cabs. Cabs three and a half.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Now, they're expected to get their guys back. All of them? Yes, but we don't know for sure. Celtics are favored in the garden. Is that tonight or tomorrow? That's Saturday. And then tonight's going to be great. So the game Saturday is in the garden.
Starting point is 00:36:55 At like 12.30 Pacific time. And what's the line? Celtics, three and a half is what I last saw. I like Boston. I'm sorry, I do. Now that's been going up. Three and a half, four. I think Boston won't.
Starting point is 00:37:06 I don't think that series is over, by the way. Okay, go to draft kings. I'm going to promote that right now. I'm betting that on my account. Who are you taking? Boston. For sure? What's Denver and OKC?
Starting point is 00:37:19 OKC was at least three and a half last night. Be careful about that. I would take Denver plus three and a half at home. I don't know. That's a serious. I don't know who's going to show up. I mean, Denver lost game too by like 48 points, didn't they? 50 points?
Starting point is 00:37:34 Yeah, but don't you think there's a point? They steal home court and then wave the old white flag in the first quarter. In fact, why don't you just not only beat us, humiliate us. Give you some false confidence. Now you come up to the mountains, the mile high. Take Denver and the points. Denver going up 2-1 would be a bit of a shock to the system.
Starting point is 00:37:58 Again, this regular season, your regular season, J-MAC, post-season coward. Wait a minute. I never liked O.K.C. all season. I know. I've been saying this for years. It's two different sports. Yeah. It is two different sports.
Starting point is 00:38:12 NFL's more intent. but it's not two different sports. Hockey's more intense. It's not two different sports. You get into basketball playoffs are officiated differently than they are during the regular season. So can the Celtics win four or five from the Knicks?
Starting point is 00:38:26 I don't know. I just think they're going to win game three. That's a big ask. It's hard to just beat. And also, New York now is so empowered. I don't know if New York thought they would win this series. They do now.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Just a reminder, they didn't play great at home against. The Pistons lost two of three in the garden, including a closed-out game. What we're watching with this series is nuts. Yeah. I watch New York struggle with the Pistons and beat Boston twice at home. Yeah. What am I watching?
Starting point is 00:38:56 Just make sure. I know Saturday's supposed to be like 75 degrees beautiful out here in L.A. Just make sure you're too in front of a TV for that next game. That's going to be crazy. J. Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lye News.
Starting point is 00:39:11 They are reportedly NFL teams are laughing at the Dallas Cowboys. And what the Steelers really thought of should do or that story is out to hurt. Starting point is 00:40:38 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range. of podcasts around there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it
Starting point is 00:40:54 one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:41:08 and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.

Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen kingdom on earth. He felt destined for greatness. So when a swaggering Armenian businessman catapulted Jacob's, into an extraordinary world, he doesn't look back. Ferraris and Lamborghinis, private jets,
Starting point is 00:42:13 meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant, this went to a billion-dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history.
Starting point is 00:42:36 You need to tell me, What you know, is somebody coming after me? Jacob told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind. Tonight, the UFL is in prime time as the D.C. defenders. Head to the Alamogone to battle the San Antonio Brahma. Fox UFL Friday kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern. Such good NBA playoff action this weekend to be so good. So some NFL teams reportedly according to the athletics.
Starting point is 00:44:08 Jeff Howell. According to how there was not a lot of interest in talking with the Steelers about a trade for receiver George Pickens. Some teams polled by the athletic at the time laughed at the idea of inviting
Starting point is 00:44:24 Pickens into their locker room for any price, let alone a second-day draft pick. Yeah, except the Cowboys. Gave him up for a third. So, I've said this. I think old Jerry Jones is becoming old Al Davis of the Raiders.
Starting point is 00:44:42 They both entered the NFL as visionaries and mavericks. They won titles in their prime, and then they aged really poorly. Al Davis at the end got rigid and would just draft fast guys. And Jerry Jones gives away draft picks now like they're Skittles. It is a head coach quarterback league, and Jerry will not draft a quarterback in the first round and hire second and third-tier head coaches. Now, I do think Dak Prescott's temperament potentially ensures some level of success here
Starting point is 00:45:20 because he's just got the kind of, you know, EQ maturity that he'll make Pickens work. But if you really look at the best teams in this league, the Baltimore's, Philadelphia, the Rams, how they're run, they are two-and-three-year plans. the Cowboys are doing whatever feels good today. And George Pickens, to all the Cowboy faithful, it feels good today. But Jeff Howe said people laughed at the idea of bringing him Pickens into their locker room.
Starting point is 00:45:56 And this was Albert Brewer yesterday on the Cowboy Acquisition. George Pickens, if he's not signed long term at that point, could be worried about his payday. And his history has been that he's had trouble controlling his emotions and his frustrations when he doesn't like the direction of the offense or his role within it. I think there is a reality to all of this that's going to have to be managed early. A lot of this falls at the feet of the new head coach who, you know, Shottie's got a great personality. I think he'll do a great job building a culture there.
Starting point is 00:46:29 You know, one of his first jobs now is to make sure that everything is clear with the receiver room as to the roles that they're going to play, how that could play out over the course the year. Okay, so I want to throw this story at you. It's being reported now by Jeremy Fowler, a reporter, said the Steelers viewed quarterback Chodor Sanders, who they considered taking in the fourth round, they considered him, quote, as a distributing point guard type, and clearly not Magic Johnson. And so I was thinking about this. So remember, before Aaron Rogers, because he's rumored to be going to Pittsburgh. Remember when Aaron Rogers had not chosen the New York Jets yet.
Starting point is 00:47:20 Yet they hired Nat Hackett. Now, we can say that Aaron did not force them to, but clearly they were having discussions. We're not dumb, Aaron. We know Hackett was yours. That's not who. That's not who Flores would hire the guy that was an abject disaster in Denver. So here's my take. Pittsburgh needed a quarterback, but did not view Sanders as a star. He was closer to Kenny Pickett. And that they drafted Will Howard instead of Shadour Sanders.
Starting point is 00:47:59 Shadoor's obviously a better prospect than Will Howard. Because Aaron, coming out of a circus in New York, when they talked to Aaron with D.K. Metcalf, George Pickens, they didn't want to add Shaddoer Sanders to the mix, because then you look at it and go, oh, crap, this could go sideways fast. And they're in the Aaron Rogers recruiting business. That is another reason. All these people that built a fence around should do, or the NFL doesn't know what they're doing, drafting quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:48:35 You know what? We're finding out that Pittsburgh, that's pretty good at the table, drafting and developing thing, they kind of viewed him as a ham and egg or a four or fifth round guy, which is what Kenny Pickens really should have been. And in the end, they didn't want a noisy fourth or fifth round guy because Aaron Rogers had just come out of a noisy mess in New York. And one of the things the Steelers probably sold Aaron on is, no chaos here, we're going to get rid of Pickens, we'll draft a backup, and it's not that Aaron's not.
Starting point is 00:49:08 capable and doesn't think he'd beat out Shadur Sanders. He would. But I could see Pittsburgh's, and this is where the noise really hurts, is that I could see Pittsburgh sitting there, because they reportedly considered drafting him in the fourth. And I think you have those discussions in the late third and fourth round. You're sitting there talking as a staff, and you're saying, listen, we have a chance to get Aaron. We really want George Pickens, Shadour, Sanders, and Noyes with Aaron. Aaron just came from noise. I really think those are the kind of
Starting point is 00:49:42 discussions the Pittsburgh Steelers had leading up to the draft, because I know teams that had those discussions. I know two teams in particular that had those discussions about Shadur. Dad, Shadur, noise.
Starting point is 00:49:59 So it's just interesting. I think Will Howard is a quiet draft pick. And, you know, he's a He played in a system at Ohio State. Not going to bring any air. Everybody knows he's a backup. And I think Shador's a backup to Aaron Rogers, too.
Starting point is 00:50:14 But he's not a quiet backup. The media is just going to unload on you like Tebow and be vultures hovering around practice. And Pittsburgh's trying to sell Aaron. We're not the Jets. We're not a circus. It's all about football. We're grownups here. That's why I do believe, I do believe that part of the George Pickens trade
Starting point is 00:50:35 is Tomlin saying, I don't have a quarterback. Last thing I need is Aaron thinking, babysitting George Pickens. You know, Steelers fans are not going to like this, Colin. But I would pass on Rogers. You're not going to be good, right? You already said, hey, trot out Mason Rudolph play for next year. And then you trade Watt at the deadline to a team that thinks they can make a Super Bowl move, the bills, the Ravis, whoever.
Starting point is 00:51:00 They already have 12 picks, get up to 14. Get another couple picks for Watt, and then you aim for next year. I just wouldn't. Is T.J. Watt winning you playoff games? I don't know. How many playoffs is he having his career? Yeah, there we go. Is he winning your playoff games? Congratulations in Pittsburgh having his jersey in your closet.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Yeah. Is he winning your playoff games? He's probably the most popular Steelers play. By far. Since Ben left, yeah. That's what the Rams care about. That's what the Eagles care about. Are you winning us playoff games?
Starting point is 00:51:28 Not we sell a lot of his jerseys. Yeah. Is that what Pittsburgh's literally become? And he's got value on the market. No question. All right, Ryan Rosillo, Paul Pierce, on a Friday. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers, I'm Joe.
Starting point is 00:51:43 I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick, and guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
