thanks for making us part of your day. A lot going on today. Team USA crushes. Nick Saban says, be careful. Caleb Williams. There could be problems in Chicago, but J-MAC, we begin with a story on Nick Sariani, the coach of the Eagles, the young coach, and Jalen Hertz breaking this morning, and that relationship is broken all year long.

Not great. Not great. So the story, multiple sources, according to ESPN, said that quarterback Jalen Hertz and head coach Nick Sariani at no point last year was at a healthy relationship. And when they're together one-on-one, it doesn't work at all. It doesn't work at all. It works a little better when you have somebody who is a buffer between the young quarterback and the young coach. And this is key, because this is what my sources told me when he got the job. I didn't think it was going to work.

A source described a lack of respect for Siriani's X's and O's. And that's important. So I made two phone calls when Nick Seriani got hired. They both said the same thing. He's not ready. He doesn't have an expertise on either side of the ball yet. You could criticize Lincoln Riley at USC. He knows offense.

You can criticize, you know, Kirby Smart, first year at Georgia, but the defense immediately got better. Immediately. The great coaches, even the really good ones, Matt Eber Flues in Chicago. He got the defense figured out. The last 10 weeks of the year, Chicago is the best defense in the league. And that's in a division with a lot of good offenses, offensive coaches, right? So, Seriani doesn't have an expertise. And so people aren't buying it.

There was also something that I pointed out, and people loved to push back, but I knew I was right. Remember his opening press conference? It was a disaster. He was just word salad. He was nervous. It does matter. Sean McVeigh and D'Amico Ryan's opening press conferences. sharp, a plan, and precise.

That's how their teams play. Siriani, the words, didn't match the sentences, didn't match. It was just throw croutons and anchovies in that thing. It was word salad. It was a mess. Now, people will say, well, Dan Campbell's opening press conference. No, it was intense and over the top, but that's what the lions are. He had a plan.

His plan was, we're going to bite kneecaps off. We're going to be intense. We're going to fight to the final whistle. Well, that's what the Lions are. Go back to even when Dan Campbell's opening team, remember the first year or two with golf, and they weren't winning a bunch. But I can remember coming on this show and saying, God, nobody plays harder than the Lions.

They are losing games on the back end because their defense is a sieve. It's awful. But that team plays harder than anybody in the league. So Dan Campbell may have been over the top and biting kneecaps, but he had a plan. and the lions are winning due to Dan Campbell. The Eagles are winning, it feels like, despite Nick Seriani. There's a big difference.

I talked about this yesterday. Baseball makes moves reacting to problems. Football, the NFL make moves. They make moves proactively while they're on top. To tweak and remain on top. Those are two different set of changes. That's the difference between somebody like the NFL, who's healthy and decides, I want to do an all-plant diet and get even healthier.

And baseball's the chain smoker who's told, stop or you'll die in a month. Okay, I'll stop. They're not the same changes. Okay. Don't take all press conferences that are different the same. Seriani would word salad. He looked overwhelmed. McVeigh never does.

D'Amico Ryan's never does. By the way, Bill Belichick, grumpy press conferences. That's what he is. At some point, that's why nobody wants to hire him. Control freak tries to control the media. So the only time Siriani has truly flourished with arguably the best roster in football his entire time there. They've had the best offensive line since he arrived,

and he's an offensive coach. They've had unbelievable tight-end wide receiver talent. They've been a little sketchy on the back end, but almost every team in the league is. I mean, who's got great corners and safeties? Like Kansas City, and they just had to get rid of a corner. Like almost everybody in the league could use another corner or a great safety.

So this is a real thing, is that the players do not respect Siriani's X's and O's, and that's what sources told me. They're like, you got to be, when you walk into what, you could be a college coach or a pro coach, you got to know one side of the ball. You've got to be an expert. You don't have to be an expert on both. I mean, McVeigh's run through defensive coordinators. Kyle Shanahan's run through defensive coordinators.

But the Niners are about that offense and the physicality of it. and the Rams are about that offense and the precision of it. And so this is a real thing. Those opening press conferences, they're a glimpse. I say this. You go to Wednesday press conferences for quarterbacks. They don't say everything. Nothing is everything, but everything's something.

And this story does not surprise me. They don't respect his accents and those. He can't, he's like strangely difficult to get along with, sometimes juvenile barking at fans, refs. So there you go. Eventually, the truth comes out. The truth always comes out.

So Team USA clobbered Brazil. 122.87. They shot almost 58% from the floor. If we wanted a shot, we got it and mostly made it. So we do know that the world is getting much better at basketball. We're still crushing everybody. Now, Yokic is really great. So is Wembe and South Sudan's length and athleticism has given us some problems.

But in those five exhibition games, you know, I'm watching these thinking, man, they're pretty close. But Katie didn't play, and these European teams tend to play together more often. So they were initially tighter units. But the more we practice, the more we play, let's be honest. We came at his favorites. We didn't play much defense or with much intensity in the first five exhibition games. Now the game's starting, and our biggest rival is apathy. Are we going to stay engaged enough to beat Serbia and Yokic for the third time?

And it should be pointed out that Serbia may have a Yokic and Greece may have a Yonis and Canada's got an SGA and France has a Wembe. We have an all-star team. And we've had four leading scores in the last four games. We can do anything. We can go big and defensive first with Derek White, AD, and BAM. We can put a shooters lineup out there. Those are the ones KD's in. And then you have super high basketball IQ, LeBron James, to make it all work.

So in basketball, the best Euros come to our country to face the best. And in our country, our best soccer players go to Europe to face the world's best. And that's just the way it is. The top two or three players right now are European. But, I mean, we just have to stay in. engaged. And the other thing I think that's going on, and I think it's a real thing. Remember when Michael Jordan and Scotty Pippin, one of the first great European players was Tony Kooch coach. And Koo coach was long, 6-7, 68, left-handed shooter, clever, clever finesse player. And M.J.

and Koo-coach has since said it was, it was awful. It was an awful experience. Pippin and MJ, like, locked him out, like pushed him around, made it really difficult. They wanted to prove domestic American superiority. And they were right. And I do think part of what you're seeing with Team USA is, they've been told now for two or three years, Europe's taken over the NBA. Our guys have been told Europe's got all the best players. So our guys are like, oh, you think so? Oh, okay. Have you noticed the defensive intensity in some of these games? You're getting guys that are worth $500, $900, $900 a billion playing like it's game seven of the finals. Is it for the flag?

Yep, but I also think it's for pride. Everybody's talking about Yokic and Janus. Here comes Wembe and Luca. And our guys are like, no, bro, no, no, we're not going to have that. We're going to blow you guys out. So there's a little bit of a Ryder Cup pride going on right now. And as you've had this sort of umbrella, this discussion, this narrative of Europe's taking over the NBA. I think our guys have had enough of it.

And so they're just walloping people. Again, can they stay engaged? Can they fight the apathy? I think one thing that helps, the games are shorter. So, I mean, it's like a baseball game for seven innings. Like if your starter goes, six, you're good. And I kind of find with Team USA, the shortage of time, it's harder to sub in everybody because our bench is so deep, but it can keep you, you don't have to play as intense as long.

And it's a thing to behold. I mean, American hero, LeBron, playing with St. bitches yesterday, could have a hundred back on the floor. The flag bear, great American hero, LeBron, dominating for Team USA. Lisa Leslie, by the way, is on our show tomorrow, I'm told, to talk about the women's team, which I think would be more interesting with Angel Reese and Caitlin, but they're walking through everybody as well. So did you watch the hard knocks, Bears hard knocks, have a little Nick Saban on it? I did not see that last night after our night of debauchery. Well, we were watching Dodgers Phillies. We were watching Dodgers. Disappointing

stuff from the Dodgers last night. Well, I mean, the Phillies are the better team. They are absolutely not the better team, Colin. Oh, Otani now leading off. You bat him anywhere in the order you want. Yeah. But it was interesting. Nick Saban told Matt Eberfluse, hey, this is why all these quarterbacks fail in the NFL.

And it's an interesting observation from Nick Saban. I wish it was as simple as what he says. But I thought about something this morning. about the failure of first-round quarterbacks and why I don't think it'll happen to Caleb Williams. And we'll talk about that coming up next. Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You are. I'm not a killer. I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh.

So, Hard Knocks, this different version, we've already seen the New York Giants Hard Knocks, not great for the team. Now it's the Chicago Bears Hard Knocks. And it was interesting last night. They're much more interesting than the Giants because they have better players and a rookie sensation at quarterback Caleb Williams.

So this will be much more interesting. The most interesting part last night was Nick Sabin talking to Matt Eberfluse, and he's talking about Caleb Williams and his concern about his rookie season and Caleb overall. Here's my theory on why NFL quarterbacks fail at such a dramatic rate. To me, expectations are a killer. This kid you got, this kid's got so much media, so much hype, so much expectation on doing well. And he has to develop so quickly to meet the expectations that everybody has for. It's almost impossible. I think it's a really, really good point. and that Caleb expectations are be good now,

and the truth is Patrick Mahomes admitted he could read a defense in year three. But he was winning in year two because he had the best offensive coach, arguably, along with Bill Walsh in the history of the sport. But Mahomes, smart kid, cognitively, sees it, throws it, lets it rip, smart kid. Year three, I can read a defense.

Year three, Kenny Pickett's done. they're done and I'll get to pick it in a second but I want you to think about it this way so in the last decade I think we've had 32 first round quarterbacks seven had become stars is that actually a lot think of any industry in the country anything how many great

anything are there there was an article a couple days ago and this is something that I've talked to my I have a podcast company And so these numbers within the podcast industry are true. And it's been the discussion for the last two years for people that have podcasting companies or I heart people that develop these big, you know, podcasting empires. One percent of podcasts. One percent.

Everybody's got a podcast. One percent have just over 10,000 listens of podcast, which is not a lot in a country at 350 million. just 10,000 only 1% and most 90% don't even have 2,000 so how many musical stars

emerge on an annual basis in the country and I mean stars fill an arena when's the last movie star in America I know Tom Cruise could fill a theater who else can honestly I'm more likely to go to watch a Christopher Nolan film than I am a movie star

because I trust him more than the star Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, I'd argue those two directors get me to a theater. After Tom Cruise, I'm not sure who does. So seven of 32 quarterbacks are stars sounds alarmingly low. Are there seven great coaches? In the last decade? Are there seven great pass rushers? Go to any industry.

Seven out of 32 stars, is that that low? I mean, think about college football. Sabin's industry. How many great star coaches are there? Saban's gone. Urban's gone. Chris Peterson's gone. Harbaugh's gone.

Are there seven? They can recruit. They know their side of the ball. They compete for Natty's. Are there seven? There's 132 programs. Maybe more now. So if you consider bad coaches, GMs over their skis,

impulsive owners, relentless media and big markets, it's hard. I mean, there's only one team in the entire league. One team that we look at and go, yeah, they always get quarterback right, the Packers. And they, with their last few, draft them or acquire them and then make them sit for years. Like Aaron Rogers sat for three years. Jordan Love sat for three years. So they slow bake them. There's no microwave in Green Bay.

Everything's a slow roast. And it works. That points to what Sabin's. referring to is that the expectations are high. They weren't for Aaron Rogers. You had Farrv. They weren't for Jordan Love. You had Aaron Rogers.

So the one team that does it right, there's no expectations. The expectation is you're going to sit for a while. So I just, you know, a prime example, one thing we can all definitively say on quarterbacks. This is not arguable. They're overdrafted because they're so important in the NFL. They're overdraft. Don't give you an example. Kenny Pickett.

So that was a bad quarterback year. there was a kid from Liberty, and then there was Kenny Pickett. So I called two GMs. These are really good GMs, like Super Bowl GMs. And one of them said, we have a mid-third round, and one of them said, like, late second, top third round. The Steelers needed a quarterback. He was a local kid. What do you do?

So, I mean, Big Ben was very sensitive about Mason Rudolph for years, and so they were very reticent to draft the quarterback. So they got trapped, and they went with Kenny Pickett. So that's part of it. The other thing is, I know we have somebody running for president that likes to scream fake news whenever it doesn't like compliment him. But the media is mostly right when it comes to star quarterbacks. Matt Stafford was going to be a star, John Elway, Andrew Luck. And I'm not talking like Peyton Manning.

If you go look at the NFL where we're like, oh yeah, Bryce Young wasn't thought of as that. Bryce Young was like he's kind of small. We didn't think Herbert, mechanical, to gets hurt. But like Joe Burrow was being compared to Tom Brady. I can remember coming on this show. Joy Taylor was here. And I was like, what are they doing to this kid?

He can't compare people to Joe Montana. Well, when he's healthy, he looks like Joe Montana. So, and if you look at the history of when the media goes, when you start getting 13, 14, 15-year-old kids being talked about as the chosen one, The media is almost always right. Bryce Harper. I mean, he's going through right and he had at least one hit I saw last night, but he's just now having the longest slump of his life.

He didn't have it for a long time. Bryce Harper, Messi, LeBron, Serena, Tiger. Tiger 11 years old signed with IMG. Nobody knew about it, but he already had signed with IMG. IMG just kept it quiet, 11 years old. So when the media goes, yeah, that guy's going to be great. Andrew Luck would still be great. day. The organization was such a mess. They couldn't surround it with protection. And so literally

he almost died. So Caleb Williams is in that class of when people start saying, there's some Patrick Mahomes here, Joe Burrow, there's some Joe Montana here. Generally, we're not talking, I mean, even Trevor Lawrence got good pub. It's not like this. We weren't saying Trevor Lawrence is like John Elway. We were saying this kid's clearly the number one quarterback. of the year. So my take is Nick is right, but if you really on a macro level

think in the last decade, we've developed seven star quarterbacks. Seven, and right now in the league, we have, I mean, look around the league, if you count young and old, Stafford obviously was drafted before the last decade, we got about 11, 11, 12 star

quarterbacks in the league. I'm sorry, Jared Goff is a, he's a really, really good quarterback. He may be at the bottom end of that star thing, but he's a star quarterback. Maybe that's more than we think. Not 12 actors get me to a theater. I'll say that. J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, let's start with Russell Wilson. He was listed as the starting quarterback on the Steelers' first unofficial depth chart. However, he's not going to play in the preseason opener due to

this calf injury so Justin Fields gets a start. There's really no details on the calf injury. Just, oh, he's got a bum calf. He's going to sit out. Mike Tomlin addressed the quarterback controversy this morning. He said it's very much still a competition between the two. And that the game action will be weighed more than what happens in practice. Duh.

So basically. Russ doesn't have a chance. No, I mean, if Russ doesn't want to play in the preseason, it's Justin Fields job. Oh, it doesn't want to or doesn't care? Well, he's got a calf injury, and those things, as you know, you get a calf injury. Not what's best of. Like, growing in calf injuries, you reaggravate constantly because you always think it's healed and it never is. Yeah.

So to me, this is great news for Justin Fields. Well, it is. I just, I'm worried about Russ. You know, we've been a fan. We've been, since I moved to L.A. to be on Fox eight years. Russ has been like a big talking point every year. He's like one of the better quarterbacks in the league, even though he's not top five. He got a lot of guys drafted.

It feels like the end is very close for Russell Wilson. I mean, Colin, it feels gets that job. And they do something crazy like trade for Brandon Ayuk, which we'll talk about here shortly. All of a sudden, Fields has some real weapons now, right? Pickens and Iuke if that would happen. I will argue with anybody that Pittsburgh's roster is stacked. I even think the O-line underachieves. I think they have more talent than people would subscribe to.

I think Pittsburgh's roster is unbelievable. We'll see. Boy, Russell Wilson cannot be loving this. Anyways, let's move on to the next story, which is the Brandon Ayuk rumors. They continue to fly. I'll tell you about one that just was dropped by a Pittsburgh radio host in the last 10 minutes. But New England reportedly is out now,

and it's between allegedly Cleveland and Pittsburgh. Ayuk's Niners teammate Nick Bosa went through his own contract holdout last here and described what Iyuk is going through as brutal. Bosa said it would be huge if Iyuk was traded because he's a tough player to replace. I would kind of disagree with that, don't you think? Well, I, no. Debo much tougher to replace it. Well, Debo's tougher to replace for the Niners.

Yeah. But if Josh Allen, if you said which guy would be greater with Josh Allen, it would be IUC because of Allen's arm. Debo works in the Niners system, but there's a reason he fell in the draft. He wasn't a first round guy, right? I think early second, I think. Yeah, I mean, he wasn't a coveted. He was a good college player, but we didn't think of him as Harrison or neighbors or these, a lot of these first round receivers.

Roam, a Dunzee, Debo was a different type of player, and the Niners run a different type of offense. He was, I shouldn't say he fell in the draft. But he wasn't like this coveted going to be a slam dunk home run. With the right smart offensive mind. He's great. He's great. And so my take is Iyuk would work with any offense, especially one with a strong arm quarterback. Okay, but replacing him.

Let's say one of the alleged deals on the table is Cleveland sends Amari Cooper to San Fran and, you know, let's just say a third and a sixth or whatever. For Ayuk. Amari Cooper's a damn good receiver, Colin. He had two 1,000-yard receivings seasons in Oakland, two in Dallas, two in Cleveland. Regardless of the quarterback, he's good. He does not fit in San Francisco. Amari doesn't like the block. Okay, but.

Well, no, that's not an okay, but like... Okay, he's not a great blocker. No, he doesn't... Amari Cooper, to me, does not fit with the Niners. We'll see if Cleveland's even in the mix. According to a Pittsburgh radio host, under the last 10 minutes, Iuk is going to be added to Pittsburgh.

It's not confirmed by Schaefter Rapaport, who will always wait for. But either way, this is crazy that I, Youk, it sounds like he's probably on the move now. I mean, I thought two weeks ago, no chance he's going on. You know what? I wonder, instead of draft picks, could the Steelers give the Niners an offensive lineman? Now, remember this.

Offensive coaches, I'm going to throw this out, are much better than defensive coaches with offensive line development. McVeigh, Andy Reed, have rebuilt the offensive line with their teams in a year. Sean McDermott has, it's been a revolving door outside of left tackle. They can't get the O-line right. Pittsburgh can't get the O-line right. Remember, Dotson, the guard for the Steelers. The Rams went and got him for like a fifth round pick.

He was the highest-graded guard in the league with McVeigh's offense. Basically, he wasn't even going to start for the Steelers, reportedly. Couldn't start. McVeigh gets the same player. He's the best guard in the league. So if I'm Kyle Shanahan, if I'm giving up a star receiver, I don't want draft picks. I want a player. I want both.

Well, you may be able to get a third or fourth, but I want an offensive lineman center right from the Steelers because I believe Pittsburgh's O-line talent is better than what it's produced and accomplished. And I think San Francisco is saying, what is a draft pick newest now? We got to get in the one area with the Niners, center right guard, right tackle. I don't think it's a great O line. So I'm looking at the depth chart for the Steelers.

So Broderick Jones, a kid out of Georgia, supposed to be awesome. Looks like he's their right tackle. They drafted the kid from Washington, Fontunu. Yeah, no, no, no, he's really, really interesting. It looks like he's a backup. I don't know that the Niners could get him in the trade. But you look at the Steelers' offensive line, and the numbers were not great last year, Colin. I would take Washington's, the kid out of Washington, he will develop much faster and be a better player with Kyle than Pittsburgh, and then I'd take a pick.

You can have our star receiver. What I'm saying is we'll take the offensive lineman in a third round pick. you get Ayyuk. It's not about draft picks next year. San Francisco, this is a very old team. Their window is like now and next year and that's it. So were you replacing 17.9 yards per

catch from Ayuk and all pro season? You're just letting that walk out with no other receiver help unless they've seen the kid Pearsall in camp and been like, oh, he's ready. He's ready to use a plug and play. We'll get 900 yards out of him. You do realize they blew out virtually everybody last year. Yeah, with Iyuk.

well, they blew out everybody. They didn't need IUC to win. Does he give you more comfort? Is he a little more icing? He's not the cape. He made a good point. He's a really good blocker. Downfield?

Oh, my gosh. Listen, I don't love this for the Niners, Colin. Now, if you're getting me on a Mari Cooper, I'm doing that deal in a heartbeat. I think Mario Cooper's top top. I would take your best young offensive lineman. I would take a starting right tackle and a mid-pick. I'm telling you right now, find all the trophies being held by Super Super Super. So. Randy Moss got no Super Bowl trophies.

Calvin Johnson, no Super Bowl trophies. Find all the great star receivers with Super Bowl trophies. It's a tough sell to your squad. Hey, we let an all-pro receiver walk out the door and we replaced them with a swing tackle and a third-round pick. Like that, I don't... You know what's not hard? When you beat the Jets by 24 in the opener,

and you dominate the ground game and that offensive tackle is a freight train. You're running behind him. Jeez. All right. Final. Final story here. Let's go to Joelle and Bede, who keeps getting booed at the Olympics. However, he had a real nice game against Brazil. Whoopty damn due.

14 points, 5 or 6 shooting, 7 boards. Only played 12 minutes. Sat out the second half as a precaution after turning his ankle. I will add, if you watch closely, Brazil went at him relentlessly because he can only play the drop coverage, and B's going to protect the rim. He's not going to try to defend any guards on the perimeter. Even if it's a Brazilian guy, I think Quirtas was the guard.

Yeah. And he kept dropping. now Brazil kept missing the shots. I'll tell you right now. He tries that crap against Serbia and Bogdanovich is going to splash threes all day. I don't love what I've seen from Embed defensively. And Colin, I know you've been all over this. But, like, there hasn't even been a moment where Embed looks like an elite center in the NBA.

I haven't seen any of that in the Olympics. How about if he's not? Well, I mean, the numbers in the NBA, he's every like 35 points a game. The numbers tell you Carmelo was great. No defense, not in great shape, couldn't play well with others. where all the playoff wins. Don't fall in love just with stats in the NBA. There's 82 games.

People are mailing in nights. Stars now with load management, there are nights that Embed faces the second best center on somebody's team. I think he averaged over a point a minute or was close to it last season before the injury. The guy is dominant offensively. I don't even see that in the Olympics.

So is Carmelo. I mean, again, in the NBA, I don't think Amari Cooper works for the Niners because he doesn't block. In the NBA, if you score, nobody cares. Harden scores, Westbrook scores, they're all great. No, they're not. Great players also elevate others.

Magic elevated others. LeBron elevates others. Steph can elevate others. Steve Nash. So I think what we're seeing with Embed is what my eyes have been telling me for years. There are some Shaq abilities. When I watch him, I'm like, man, he pull up.

I'm not doubting that. But they're terrified. The front office, Darryl Morey, they're terrified to criticize him. Oh, gosh. And the media, because he's a funny guy and a good quote, loves him. But in the end, trust your eyes. When you watch him in the Olympics, you're like, he's a negative. Yeah.

Like, he clogs the offense up. I don't want to be a, and be defender, but he hasn't played a lot of international ball, right? He doesn't seem used to it. I'll just say this. Whether or not he's playing against Serbia. I'm going to assume he's going to play. Spread is 17 and a half. They'll cover.

I think Serbia will cover. Oh, okay, okay. Yeah, I would take Serbia to cover. It's hard to beat somebody three times. USA blows out Brazil and Serbia third meeting with them in the last like three weeks. Yeah, I don't bet Olympic basketball historically, but Serbia plus 17 is a good bet. I think this is going to be very dangerous game for the U.S. We haven't seen, and they haven't faced any adversity yet in the Olympics.

Well, I think, let's be fair. They never had a single- South Sudan's length and athleticism is challenging. In the exhibition. Well, yeah, I know, but it was challenging. And Yokic has been a headache for them. So there's been a couple minor migraines. Those were the exhibitions.

In Paris, zero adversity. It's all, let's go hang out with the gymnasts. And KD's the leading score of all. And it's like, let's do these photo. Anthony Edwards' surprise party. They're coasting. And they're going to come in confident against a team. They smacked around the last two times and whooping up on Brazil.

By the way, the NCAA, feeling the heat as people like me were making fun of them over the last couple of days with this nonsense about Jim Harbaugh, the NCAA has always been reactionary. Today, this morning, handed out a four-year show-com. against Jim Harbaugh for unethical conduct, it means nothing because Harbaugh's never going back to college football. And the other stuff's just ticky-tack. So he's not Department of Internal Affairs Director at Michigan. He's a football coach. He's got 85 players, 20 people staff, 18 people training. You don't know every single thing that's going on. College basketball, Rick Petino

at Louisville, you have a much smaller roster and a much smaller staff. It's much easier to get your arms around everything. There's stuff that happens on programs. You don't absolutely know every little detail. And I'm not, you know, I just think the stuff so ticky-tack and nonsensical that literally one of his coaches verified an Instagram account for a player. You could pay that player a million dollars in high school. That's okay.

But verifying an Instagram account, that is over the line, nonsense. The toothless, no-bite NCAA. A. This means nothing because Harba is not going to go back to college. He got out at the right time with all the NIL and transfer portal. The NFL is a better place to coach now because you get some time off. You'll get like six weeks of literally time off. Lincoln Riley at USC doesn't get six days. He got to take his phone with him for recruits. And by the way, I'm not saying college football is not going to grow. But from a coaching perspective, once they added a second recruiting signing day, those guys have no life. College football, coaches have no life. You may get like five, six days once a year to take off. NFL coaches get several weeks off. You can disappear for a couple of weeks in the

off season. You can't. I mean, now in the NFL, a lot of these coaches, like Sean McVeigh won't even go to the combine. It's a waste of his time. So, you know, nonsense. So apparently Brandon Ayuk, the Niners and the Patriots talked about moving the star receiver

to the Patriots, and they need him. Like, that's one of the places I think would work. They're not paying Brissette anything at quarterback. They're not paying Drake May. They're not paying their quarterbacks. So go get Brandon Iuk. They also are an organization for 20 years. Can't draft a

quarterback. A wide receiver, excuse me. They can't draft a wide receiver. Randy Moss, they had to go get. Wes Welker, they made a trade for. Edelman didn't play a lot in New England until like year four. He was developed into a great receiver. They can't draft receivers. Like New England

just can't. They're the opposite of the Steelers who can't miss on wide receivers, the Patriots can't draft one. And so Ayuk's a good fit. Ayuk basically said, ugh, ugh, no thank you. He called it off. And to me, the Patriots are becoming the Chicago Bulls Post Jordan. It's not just that the Bulls couldn't win. They went from totally cool to the most uncool franchise in the league.

they went from the Zen master Phil Jackson to college rigidity and Tim Floyd. Like players just didn't want to play for him. He won like 21% of his games. He was a college coach. People were like, uh, turn off. No, thank you. That's what the Patriots had become with Brady. Brady was so great.

He made you forget how badly the Patriots drafted the offensive side of the ball. He made you forget about it. I mean, again, they didn't get Gronk in the first round. He had back issues in college. They kind of stole him later. Hernandez. Aaron Hernandez was later in the Edelman developed into something. But Brady made you forget about the lousy weather, the grumpy Belichick persona.

Everybody had to sacrifice and take pay cuts. They couldn't draft skill players. Brady made you forget about all that stuff. And then when he leaves, that's all still there without Brady. And you're like, they made a defensive coordinator, the offensive coordinator? the offensive coordinator? How are they doing? So they went from like the smartest, most efficient franchise to like can't figure out how to run the VCR in the 80s.

Like they don't even know what they're doing. And that's what it wasn't just that Michael Jordan made the Bulls great. He made Chicago feel as big as New York. You had Oprah, Michael, you know, you had the best chef. in the world was in Chicago. Siskel and Ebert. Their movie reviews were bigger than anything in the New York Times. It was like Chicago felt massive.

And then he left and Chicago felt like, you know, a big city, like Chicago. And like, you know, a normal big city. It felt like Philadelphia, right? Although I liked Chicago better, but it felt like a big city. Michael meant it just feel like it was everything. Chicago was nobody, everybody forgot about the winter weather. It was just cool. Michael's playing in December, January, February, and big games, nobody talked.

cared about the weather. It was a coolest city. And Brady made you forget about cold, windy, dark nights in Foxborough. They can't draft offensive players. Belichick's grumpy. You've got to take a pay cut in a already expensive Massachusetts. It's, I mean, Brandon Iukes basically

like, you want your money, you want the bag, go to New England. No, that's okay. No, thank you. Not interested. That's something. That is something. In 26 seasons since MJ retired, the Bulls can't make the playoffs. Can't make the playoffs

14 times. Now think about that. That's in the Eastern Conference, which is the weaker of the two. Where the bottom two playoff teams are like 500. So Brandon Ayukes, like, I'm not even remotely interested. And what he's also telling you, this is funny.

Brandon Ayuk is still considering Cleveland. She's like, hey, I'll go to Cleveland. Forget it. New England? No way. And when's that happened? Cleveland's got a great coach and Stifansky. He's got a great coach and a great general manager.

He made the playoffs last year? Yeah. They got a quarterback who if he returns to four? Yeah. No, I got, I got, you know, quarterback's weird. The rumor is he really wants Pittsburgh for some reason. I'm unable to unearth why. No, I know why.

Pittsburgh with Tomlin is a very pro player environment. Pittsburgh allows drama. They allow personality. Oh, yeah. Leigh on Bell, Antonio Brown. How do that work out of that work out. They allow it. Pittsburgh's considered with Tomlin very pro player.

New England was very pro-Belichick and very pro-culture. Pittsburgh's pro-player. It's not the most organized team. It's one of the more emotional teams. You can have a personality. How many playoff wins last five years? Well, I'm not that. Pro-player vibe.
