The herd hierarchy. The truth is coming out. I'll just give you heads up. Cowboys aren't in the top ten. I want you to be disappointed an hour from now. Nick Wright, Michael Irvin stops by. J-Mack, I am a believer. You know when somebody goes into bankruptcy?

They get protection, government protection. You can, chapter 11, chapter 7. The NFL doesn't do that. And the Dallas Cowboys right now as a football roster are bankrupt. Right? And there's no government protection. So I want to start the show today with this. No need to talk about the game.

The cowboy roster and the franchise. right now is essentially bankrupt. So Jerry Jones in his life, he was a wild catter. I'll get to that in a minute. But when he's taken big swings, football and non-football, it's paid off. Remember, he bought an NFL team.

I mean, wedged in to buy it. Jimmy Johnson always told me the first year and a half, he was paying bills. He took a big swing to buy that team. And it barely qualified. He fires Tom Landry. He hires Jim. Johnson. He brings in Dion Sanders. Big swings. And Jerry's always been rewarded with those.

It's when Jerry plays it safe. It doesn't work out. Re-signing DAC. Because, you know, as DACs here will, you know, we'll be competent, we'll be good in the regular season, or replacing Jason Garrett with Mike McCarthy, somebody who needed a job and Jerry could control. Or letting go of Amari Cooper to give us more cap flexibility or let's pass on Derek Henry because you know at $8 million it's a little too much

every time Jerry plays it safe and comfortable that's all you get he's preached that resigning DAC you really think Dak forget the NFC you think Dak's going to beat Josh Allen Burrow Herbert now with Harbaugh

Mahomes in his Super Bowl and hoisted trophy. Bruh, come on. Can we have a grown-up talk? Jerry also has to consider that Jaden Daniels is now in his division. Twice a year, 20 times minimum over the next decade. And Jalen Hertz with that roster in Philadelphia significantly better. The Lions are just moving into a three to four-year dominant window.

And oh yeah, the Packers and Jordan Love are stacked with young talent, not being paid for several years. Again, that's just the NFC. Forget that in my lifetime, I've never seen a conference like the AFC where the five best quarterbacks are all in their prime. Burrough, Mahomes, Alan, Lamar Jackson.

So if Dallas, after they lose their next game, they're a three-and-eight team, after they lose their next game at Washington, they face the Giants on Thanksgiving. If they lose that game, and I suspect they, will. I like the Giants more, even with Tommy DeVito. I don't think Dallas wins another game.

Carolina is trying to build a culture, build a staff, build momentum for next year, and find out if Bryce Young is the guy. They're playing for stuff. Dallas is playing for nothing. So let's go back. Start looking at the draft order right now. If Dallas doesn't beat the Giants.

So Jacksonville and Tennessee are above them, but they play each other twice. Cleveland's too talented to not win a couple more games. Jets will win another game. Carolina wants to. I mean, I'm watching the Patriots. They're giving the Rams a struggle. They're going to win more games.

They're playing for something. Rookie coach, rookie quarterback. The Giants and Vegas, if the Cowboys beat the Giants, this may not matter. But if the Giants win, the Cowboys, in my opinion, it'll be the Giants, the Cowboys and the Raiders. all vying for that number one pick. And I'm here to tell you, if I was the Dallas Cowboys, I don't care about Dax's new contract.

I would go get Dion Sanders, and I would sign, I would pick Shadur Sanders. If I had to give up Micah Parsons and three firsts, I would do it. You do not get out of bankruptcy, putting $13 a month into your 401K. You get out of it with big swings. that's how you get out of it. You start looking at the draft order. You look at Dallas's schedule. The only team they play the rest of the year that's got nothing to play for is the Giants.

If the Giants can beat them and Dallas is awful at home, not much better on the road. They got a shot to get the number one pick. They got a real shot. Yes, Dak will be upset if you draft Shadoor Sanders. So what? Denver Broncos, Russell Wilson was upset. They moved off him. They're in cap hell.

So what? The Denver Broncos are viable. Why? They went and got a great coach, and they went and got a great rookie quarterback. And all of a sudden, Denver's in the playoffs in the better conference. They may not stay there, but they went from Capel, thin roster, missing draft picks, embarrassing franchise to is Sean Payton coach of the year? And Bo Nex, is he the best rookie quarterback? They took big swings. Sean Payton was a big, expensive swing, $15 million, $18 million a year.

Bo Nicks a quarterback. Play him day one, big swing. Move off Russell Wilson and pay the contract. Pittsburgh gets him for a nickel. Pittsburgh wins, but so does Denver. You're not getting out of this mess. This team is, this roster's bankrupt. Move off, Micah, give up three picks.

If you don't beat the Giants and you got nothing to play for, I'd argue Brian Daibble has something to play for, his job. The weird Giants could run him out of town. But if you go to the end of the Troy Aikman era, after Troy Aikman left and before Tony Romo arrived. What do they do? They went and got Bill Parcells. That's the first thing.

Let's go get Bill Parcells. And then they found Tony Romo. But the difference is Tony Romo was undrafted, so he was free for five years. Whoever gets this roster, you are a handcuffed with Dak's contract. You know, DAC is a $90 million cap hit next year. Now, they'll restructure it. But if you go get Shadour Sanders, who is a much better prospect than Dak. And Dak, by the way, after his first surgery, lost mobility.

What's he going to be after? this. Lisa Salter said last night, last night, eight months, not back for eight months. What, what? 90 million, he's not back in eight months. The last surgery, he became immobile. He became Kirk Cousins. But he didn't throw as well as Kirk Cousins. What's he after the second surgery? So what if he's upset? Russell Wilson was upset. Russell's happy now. You move, Dak, even if you have to pay 80% of his salary. If you hit in a quarterback, if Shadour Sanders is great, nobody cares. Tom Landry, I can't believe you fired Tom Landry two years later.

Nobody cared. Jimmy Johnson. Dion Sanders. How can you bring in Dion Sanders? Oh, he's great. Super Bowl. Nobody cares. I can't believe Jerry bought an NFL team.

He's a wildcat or he can barely afford it. Jimmy Johnson wins. Nobody cares. Everybody now joins the avalanche. Everybody would crap on you with moving off that Prescott. Who cares? God, Joe Rogan goes through a controversy a week. Who cares?

Win games. Take swings. Jerry was a wildcatter. And I'm sure most of you know what a wild catter is. It's a speculation business. You're drilling holes on the earth and you don't know what's down there. But here's the thing. Shador Sanders and Dion Sanders are not speculation.

You know what Deion is as a college coach and as a player and as a leader and as a culture builder. And I'm telling you, Shadur Sanders is a great prospect. He's the only quarterback in this class I like, but he's a great prospect. But if you want to sit around to be average, then make average moves. Don't offend anybody. Make DAC happy. But Russell Wilson was pissed when they got rid of him. He's happy now.

Send Dak somewhere. Pay most of his salary. Guy's going to get paid. I mean, you saw Dak about three weeks ago on the sidelines. Remember what the cameras caught him saying? This team blanking socks. Those were Dak's words. The camera caught it.

Does he really want to be there? If tomorrow you found out, Dak went somewhere to an organization that lost a quarterback to injury and had a stacked roster, you think he'd be brokenhearted? He's a pro athlete. I wouldn't blame him. Pro athletes should take care of pro athletes, not worry about the billionaire owner.

But, I mean, Jaden Daniels, Jalen Hertz in division, five great quarterbacks in the AFC all in their prime. All of them. You think you're winning with this roster? take a huge swing. If you lose to the Giants on Thanksgiving, because you're losing to Washington, and you're a 10-point dog next week,

you have a real shot to end up in that top two or three. I'd give up Micah. I'd move three first-round picks. If I had to, of course, the Giants aren't going to give you that. They don't care. Nor would the Raiders. But the Raiders play hard. The Raiders play hard.

They play hard. They're going to win another football game the next six, seven weeks, or whatever it is. Jerry Jones, after last night's predictable loss. Jerry, at 3 and 7, do you still hope that the season could turn us?

Well, that's 10 games, and certainly the numbers are coming to us, and certainly we have to be realistic about how we're playing. We have to be realistic what we're dealing with at, quarterback. The guys that were out there tonight did some good things, but they made some real mistakes.

the Texas scored on the first play of the game. Oh, an eligible man downfield, which is a dumb rule. But I mean, a couple of plays later, Joe Mixon, who had three touchdowns. I mean, it's Jerry's history is big swings. I don't even think Shadur Sanders is a big swing. I think trading Mika, three first round picks is like, ooh. But this is not a Traylant situation in San Francisco. Shadur can play.

Shudor's dad was the greatest corner ever. Shadur can play. We got like a lot of games. now. Again, other teams that have given up three first round picks, you've got a guy from a small college that we haven't seen much video. And Chador's been crushing it everywhere he's been. He has a chance

to win a Big 12. And I've got to tell you something. I got no problem with Dion Sanders as an NFL coach. Do you think he was going to stay in Colorado forever? It's a great story. It's not a great team. Colorado, when he took it over, was the first program in the country. They don't have big NIL money. They don't have big boosters. And I think he's done a great job. And I think he loves what he does. And I think he's elevated the lives of

young people. But when his son leaves, you really see, you really see Dion is the future of Colorado football. I can see him as the future of the Dals. Cowboys, that smells about right. J-Mack swings. Got to take big swings. So close the curtains on the stadium, close the curtains on the season. Is that the strategy here? Just shut it down? Yes. Yeah, I kind of like that. Now, the only problem is, can you convince an 82-year-old who wouldn't spend for Derek Henry? to go all in and tank for Chedore Sanders, an 82-year-old. It's one thing at 60, you know, 50, 40 to take big swings. By the way, this idea that if you tank and get Chadour Sanders, we won't be viable.

Denver got Bo Nix, who isn't the prospect Chadour Sanders is. Denver's in the playoffs right now. Okay, this is the NFL. Houston was the laughing stock of the league. D'Amico Ryan, C.J. Stroud, playoff team. This is not baseball, where if you don't have the money, you can't compete. It's not the NBA. If you don't have two stars, you can't compete.

It took Denver years and years and years to build that. Andrew Luck shows up to the Colts. They win 11 games and 11 games and 11 games. Didn't win Super Bowls. They were immediately legit. Would you consider sitting Shadur for a year behind Dak then before moving on from Dak? I would go to DAC and say, hey, listen, we're going to do this thing. If you want to stick up for a year, that's great.

And Dak would probably go, no, no, no, no, no, no. not going to do that. And by the way, you moved Russell. We've seen this before. Dead cap money if you hit on a quarterback gets mitigate. It does not pull you down. If you get the right coaching quarterback in this league, look at Harbaugh right now. I mean, like Harbaugh is the same roster with a better right tackle and a receiver they like. They may be the best team on certain Sundays in the league. This is not a hard league to figure out. Quarterback coach is right. You're good. you got a star C.D. Lamb, you got a couple young offensive linemen. You got to get a running back quarterback. By the way, if Shadour Sanders can run, you don't have to have a great running back room for years when Josh Allen broke into the league the first four years? He was your running game. Did Cam Newton aid a great running back room? He had McCaffrey, but did he need one? The first three or four years with a highly mobile quarterback, it's nice that Kyler Murray has now Connor now, but for several years in the league, he becomes like quarterback slash number two running back.

So Thanksgiving, Cowboys play every year. I believe they have the Giants this year. Is that accurate? Yep. So DeVito Cooper Rush on Thanksgiving and a tank. I would take the Giants because Brian Daibble has something to coach for. You think Brian Daibel is going to retain his job? Mike McCarthy isn't.

But you think Brian Davel in New York, without relentless media, is going to keep his job with six more wins, losses in a row. So essentially the Giants and Cowboys are in a race for Shadhaarkey. I think it's, I really believe it. Because I think if you start looking at teams like Jacksonville, Cleveland, New England, they're going to win games. I think the Raiders play too hard not to win games.

And I think Antonio Pierce is too prideful and too competitive. He's trying to keep his job too. They'll win a game. Yeah, Callahan and Tennessee, they're trying to win. You watched last night, Houston's first play on the road. Dallas isn't losing. They're getting blown out at home. You start looking at that board.

Is Carolina's playing for it? for something. Brian Dable's coaching for something. Kevin Stefanski's coaching for something. If the Jags are smart, start Mac Jones and say, hey, Dallas, give us Michael Parsons and a number one and we'll give you the number one pick. You know? Some kind of package. It's going to get excited. This is a good race for Shador. I like it.

More change in New York. The jets have now fired their jobs. General Manager Joe Douglas, Adam Schaefter broke this story.

So now it's Robert Sala, who I said, do not fire. He's the best coach on the staff. You do not have a strong enough staff to elevate some brilliant young DC or OC, and the Jets have been absolutely worse both sides of the ball since Robert Sala was fired. I think this is another mistake. Now, he missed on a quarterback, Zach Wilson, who for the record, I didn't like coming out of college. but let's contextualize that. There was a two-year period because of COVID

where college football quarterbacks, a lot of smart guys I know and trust, a lot of sources I've had. It was wonky. Quarterbacks were playing. BYU was playing a weird schedule. And, I mean, you didn't know what to make. You weren't practicing like normal.

So General Jets needed a quarterback. They took a big swing. He wasn't the only GM that liked Dak, Wilson. I didn't, he did, multiple guys did. That's his big miss. But when you look at this Jets roster, best cornerback tandem in the league, excellent young linebacker, Quinn and Williams, I mean, defense, they got players. They're not coached very well, but they got players offensively. They got a star receiver. They got a really good back, if not a great back. This is not a roster that's void of talent. It's not Carolina or Dallas. There's players here. I think this is a

mistake. I think it's another mistake. And by way, why would you do it now? Why in the world would you do it now? The reason you'd fire Sala early is somebody wanted him out. I wonder who that is. Why in the world would you fire a general manager now?

Does Aaron Rogers think we're idiots? You don't do that. Nobody fires a GM in the middle of a season. Complete retail. I mean, it's, first of all, Joe Douglas is an excellent personnel guy. He knows his stuff. I think this is a mistake.

Sala was a mistake. Joe Douglas, I think, is a mistake. Yes, his record's 30 and 64. He missed on a quarterback. But why in the world would you fire a coach and a GM 60% through a season? Who fires a GM now? You know what I think it is? I think Word got back.

There was a story that broke last week. Remember that story that broke last week? after Aaron said I'd like to come back and there was a story about two days later that said I'm not sure they want Aaron back Aaron read that because Aaron's incredibly reactionary and somebody had to go because Aaron thought that was a leak somewhere in the building

and maybe it was Joe Douglas but Aaron said I want to come back and I think it was two days later it may be three there was a story saying after they lost somebody I forget who it was did it wasn't the Colts it was the game before And it's like, I don't know if anybody's going to want him back. And that story was sourced.

And who's the source saying that? Aaron said, somebody's got to go. He went to Chris Johnson, one of the owners upstairs, and made it happen. And he'll deny it all day long. By the way, Adam Schaefter pointing out, under Douglas, the Jets had notable draft success, Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Germain Johnson, Brise Hall, and the same draft. However, they never solved the quarterback position.

Yeah, that's 64% of the league. You know, I mean, yes, Kansas City and Green Bay tend to get the quarterback right. Everybody else is, how long has it been for Miami to replace Marino? How long did it take Denver to replace Elway? You know, going from Montana to Steve Young just, or Manning to Andrew Luck, congratulations, or what Green Bay does. And even Green Bay sits guys for years. This whole league misses on, I mean, San Francisco's well-run, well-owned, smartly GMs, smartly coach.

They gave up three first rounds for Tray Lance. It happens. It's the hardest position to draft because it's especially with in the COVID space. Joe Douglas is guessing they're playing half their games. They're not practicing. He's pretty, he was a Gatorade high school player. He's a pretty athletic college guy. I think it's another mistake.

What an impulsive weird organization. J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. is the herd line news. Oh, boy. Let's start with Sequin Barclay, Colin. He is in the MVP conversation.

He's having a monster season. However, he's been tackled 11 times this season at the one or two yard line, which is most in the league. Obviously, not having as many touchdowns. Not going to help the MVP case. Here's Nick Siriani talking about Sequin Barclay getting taken down at the one or two yard line.

You always think about that. I think one thing we think about a lot in the red zone a quarterback sneak is tough to lose yardage there right so when you come out and you and the worst thing that you can do in red zone football is move backwards right you know that's one of the worst things that can happen there and put you behind the sticks you always want to stay ahead of the sticks

because things are things get harder and tighter down there well I don't look at short yardage is a huge problem for the Eagles I think uh I think eventually they'll be fine there The things I worry about are coaching, consistency, but I think getting a yard's never been in. If I have Jalen Hertz, that O line, and Saquan Barkley, I don't think I'm going to worry much about getting crucial one-yard games. Barkley's been so good. You know, he's been a bigger factor than Derek Henry in Baltimore. I know Henry got a lot of pub, but I think Berkeley's been a bigger deal to the Eagles than Derek Henry has been.

I think there's no question. And I think, well, first of all, I think he's better. Yeah. He's got more juice. And by the way, how bad does it look at the Giants? Remember, they spent $5 million on Drew Locke. He's now the backup. He was supposed to be the guy after Daniel Jones were to push him.

That $5 million could have easily been rolled into Saquan Barclay, and the Giants keep him. By the way, and I'm not advocating getting rid of people, but if there's a general manager, a football general manager in New York, you want to have a question about, it's Joe Shane signing Daniel Jones to a big contract. That was Joe's idea. And punting on Saquan Barclay. That could get you fired. but missing on a college quarterback like Joe Douglas should not get you fired. He had a couple of great drafts. I'm telling you right now, when that story came out saying, you know, Aaron may not be the answer.

Somebody had to pay for that. I guarantee it. And they'll deny it. That's what they do. But nobody fires a GM now. Unless there was some sort of personal situation. And maybe Woody Johnson thinks he's got a shot at Belichick. The Belichick will give you total control.

Oh, jeez. GM and coach, it's yours. And deal with Aaron Rogers, too. He's not going to the Jets. I was joking. Next up is the 49ers, Colin. What a fault. They're the only team in the NFL that's been favored in every game since the start of the season.

And yet here they are five and five, three division losses. And Colin, they are now favorites to miss the playoffs. Okay? I mean, it's just crazy. To win the Super Bowl, super duper long shot. But according to draft kings, odds to make the playoffs plus two. 200 win the division plus 350. They've got an uphill climb.

The injuries are mounting. Colin, this is a weird situation. And again, I don't put much stock in social media, but I got a lot of guy 49ers fans saying I'm done with Shanahan. I'm so sick of this guy. I don't understand it. Settle down. I don't get it.

I didn't like Ricky Pearsall as a pick in the first round. I would have gotten a right tackle or a left tackle. So I like John Lynch, but some of this, the Trey Lance move. That's not solely. There was a story that he wanted more of a pocket guy or Kirk Cousins. So Kyle's a very good coach. This is an increasingly old, brittle roster. That's the problem.

They've missed on just enough draft picks and given up just enough first-round picks where they need about three more dynamic players, and they'd have them if they hit on draft picks or had first-round draft picks. Okay, let's Shanahan real quick. So close games, he has not been good at all. Downright, he's been bad this year. My knock on him has always been. He stays tied to his play sheet.

So he blew the game against the Rams. Remember that one? That was catastrophic loss. They blew the game against Arizona. You could argue he blew the game against Seattle. I mean, just the poor decisions. Special teams hasn't been there. They couldn't get up for that Kansas City game.

He will be out of work like Andy Reid for five minutes. I'm not saying. Always ask yourself, if you're thinking about firing the coach, how long will if you're thinking about firing anybody or letting anybody go how long will they be unemployed if the answer is not very long

He's not the problem in San Francisco. No, but he's not the solution either to an aging roster. He's not the solution. Well, what is the solution? A star quarterback. Oh, come on. It's the solution everywhere. Yeah, just grab me a star quarterback. They grow on trees. I'll take one. Let me take two. I'll take two start. It doesn't work like that. It's going to be interesting.

I do think Shanahan has to take some ownership of blowing multiple fourth quarter leads his season. You got to admit he has not been great in fourth quarter. Now, I don't think you fire him, but I think he's got to like reevaluate some things about what I'm doing. As for the talent on that team. Getting old. They got too many dudes. They are getting a little

old. I would agree, but like Jennings is really good. Debo's had it up and down year. Pearsall flashed two weeks ago. You and I questioned. You and I said this. When they drafted Pearsall, my take is, okay, are you going to move off Debo? Because Debo has a market, not a great market, but a market.

Poor I, Yuk. you and I wondered if Iyuk was worth signing. You know, I mean, you and I both said they got a lot of weapons. That's not a need. You know, their need is to stay young around Bose on the defensive line, improve their offensive line. So I haven't agreed. I love John Lynch, but there's a lot of things upstairs I have not agreed with.

It's a well-run organization. I'm not denying that. But they've missed on some picks. They've given up picks. It just dawned upon me. The two noisiest players this entire offseason were Brandon I, Yook, in San Francisco, and Dak Prescott in Dallas. And they both ended up getting up.

getting injured and are out for the season, and both teams are cratering. I don't think Dak was noisy, was he? He was waiting for the contract all summer. They asked him that literally every week. Well, they asked him that. I know. But we were doing body language stuff and dad. I don't look at Dak as noisy.

For sure. Yeah, yeah. Final story is, let's go back to Houston Texans last night. I don't know, Kyle. I was not overly impressed. I know they got the win. They got the cover. Thank you.

But, I don't know, they had been struggling to score. in the second half of games. They got one yesterday with Mixing. Can I ask this question? Yeah, yeah. I've always said if I didn't do this for a living, my dream job is NFL GM. Do you know what the Houston Texans gave up to get Joe Mixed? Who I have been saying for years is a poor man's Adrian Peterson.

They gave up a seventh round pick for him. The Cowboys spent a fourth on a receiver last night that had zero yards. Did you see that? Zero yards. Joe Mixon, I've been saying this for three years. What is Cincinnati doing? They're not the same team without Joe Mixon because they can't kill the clock. It's all vertical scoring.

So Cincinnati can score, but they can ever like Detroit, kill the clock, have a lead, and drain the clock out and win. That's why they give up so much stuff late. Cincinnati's a bad team late in games, not because of borough. They can't kill the clock like Detroit or a good run team like Philadelphia. It's amazing to me that Joe Mixon was. available for a seventh round pick. D'emiko Ryan's talked about how the Texans hope to keep the momentum going. The run game starts with our offensive line.

I asked them, challenge them to play fast, play aggressive, thought they did a really nice job. And Joe, you know, when he's on, he's a force for us. Over 100 yards, three touchdowns. It's really like the way we just kept turning it in the run game and proud of the guys for stepping up to the challenge. I like Houston. Green Bay of the AFC. Probably a year away, but the coach, the quarterback, the young players are fun to watch.

So a couple teams went out and got wide receivers this offseason with quarterbacks on the rookie deal. Bears got Keenan Allen, right? And the Texans got Stefan Diggs. Both of their offensive lines stink. Okay, Caleb was sacked nine times two weeks ago, and, you know, the offensive line of the Texans seems to cave on every possession. Yeah.

We need to remember in the offseason, there's trend. The trenches matter. Don't go get the wide receiver. We got to build the trenches. Well, look, Harbaal, went and got a right tackle Joe Alt, who has been spectacular? And suddenly, with J.K. Dobbins and Joe Alt, what happens? Herbert doesn't have to throw 45 times a game. It's totally changed the offensive culture. It's bully ball. So we're going to, we do this every offseason. Oh, look at that flashy wide receiver. We're going to go grab him in free agency.

Just remember, the trenches matter. And by the way, the Dallas Cowboys, they lost. It looked like three offensive linemen last night to injury. Now, I don't know if Guyton got hurt on the play where he scooped up the fumble and got drilled, or they benched him because he tried to run with the football. Something happened there. But I was stunned at how inept they looked. And Colin, I couldn't.

You said they're 10-point underdogs? Against the commanders. I like the commanders. I think I might too. No, it's my favorite bet of the week. I hate big favorites. I told this week, remember at the Blazing Five at the end, I said, take Detroit. I don't bet double-digit favorites, but take Detroit.

If you haven't heard the Jets fired a little past mid-season, their general manager, Joe Douglas, after a story leaked in the last week that maybe the Jets would not, would not view Aaron Rogers next year and beyond as their future. You think it's a coincidence.

I'm just going to say, Packer's offense got better when he left. And he was better then than he is now. But it's not a coincidence. The general manager and the Jets is fired about a week after a story surfaced. The Jets were uncertain if Aaron was the future. This is an errand job. You know it is. Yeah.

And I think Joe Douglas is more than capable. Top half of the NFL general manager. He missed on a quarterback during coach. COVID. All sorts of GMs did. John Lynch in San Francisco. Trey Lance missed on him. There was about a year and a half, two years. The COVID quarterback class, rough.

Nobody knew what to do. Teams weren't practicing. Teams were playing weird, you know, abnormal schedules. Just saying, I wouldn't have fired him. I wouldn't have fired Robert Sala. Every media guy in New York, all the problems were Robert Sala. that, you'd think you'd be a little embarrassed about that take. And I said, never fire the best coach on your staff.

Sala was the best coach on the staff. The defense has regressed. The team is worse since he left. Now let's fire the GM. Just go look at his Breece Hall draft. I mean, the guys had a couple of big-time drafts. They hit in a lot of players, far more hits than misses. They have an elite wide receiver.

I mean, they were able to eventually sign Aaron Rogers, which at the time looked like a pretty good deal. Top running back, rush ends, corner duo in the league, interesting, active, athletic linebackers. Just saying. So here's some stats. Generally speaking, over the course of the last 30, 40 years, the Super Bowl champions are a team, much like in college football.

Last year, Michigan wins the national championship, and they were so good, they decided in a big road game, we're not going to throw the ball. Entire second half. We don't even need our coach on the sidelines. We're not going to throw the ball and they beat Penn State. That's when you're dominant. Historically, the team that wins the college football now, National Championship has about eight wins by double digits.

They roll people. That's why I say, I need Ohio State to roll Indiana because they lost Oregon. So when you play good teams, I need your role over some of these teams. The Lions are doing what Super Bowl winning teams do. The Lions' fourth game this season with more touchdowns than incompletions this past weekend. Three wins by 38 plus points. The rest of the NFL has zero such games. and the opposing quarterbacks have an NFL low 73.6 pass a ring against the lines this season.

And you don't think Detroit has a great defense. What's happening is Detroit is so dominant offensively that they get two and three touchdown leads by the middle of the second quarter, and opponents have to throw. And so Detroit, by the middle of the second quarter, knows exactly what your offense is going to do. So even though Aidan Hutchison is not there, they're a tremendous third down defense. Nobody's running the ball against Detroit by the middle of the second quarter. You've got to throw. So it's a real, their offense is so dominant.

It's very much like the Randy Moss Patriots. They led everybody often big by the beginning of the second quarter. And New England's like, well, all right, Belichick, do your magic. They got to throw. They're not going to run their way back into this thing. And so, they really, I think it's a great story. I got people from Michigan and my family. The lions have become the little brother.

has a growth spurt, and one day he walks out of his bedroom, he's 6'5, sounds like a man, and asked Dad if he could borrow his razor. This is bully ball. And here's what's amazing. Jared Goff won a game and had 85 yards passing. Jared Goff won a game with 400 yards passing, and in both games, they scored 52 points. It's almost like they're the only team in the league that can win by blowout consistently, and quarterback does not become crucial.

That is a dominant team. the rest of the NFL Chargers win, Herbert's got to be good. I mean, it got to be good. That's kind of the rule. San Francisco had a few years with Garoppolo and Brock Purdy. Quarterback didn't have to be great and they could win. That's a big-time roster. Detroit's become that.

Now, I think Jared Goff's really good. But you start looking at, I'm looking this morning at some of Jared Goff's wins. He won a road game with five picks, and he won a game with 12 completions. I mean, Mahomes usually has to play well, or, Kansas City's not going to win if he's terrible. He didn't have to be great, but they are all sorts of different. Here's Matt Hassel back yesterday on kind of the new look lions. This is a situation where these guys have been picked on for years and years and years.

And Dan Campbell has sold them something. And I think everybody, even the fan base has bought into it. Like, here's how we get back. We punch the bully in the mouth. And it started on prime time against Dallas. And this team really hasn't looked back. they're the new bully. The Detroit Lions have earned the respect of the entire league.

There's no doubt about that. Yeah, I think it's pretty special. And I've said it did feel inevitable that it was going to be Kansas City and Detroit in the Super Bowl. And I still think it feels inevitable that it's going to be Detroit or Kansas City or Buffalo in the Super Bowl. Those feel like the three teams to me that have separated from the league. Then I think there's other teams like the Chargers, the Eagles, Pittsburgh, that are clearly capable of winning a play. playoff game or two playoff games, but doesn't it feel like Lions, Chiefs, Bills just feel different? Situationally, Kansas City's the best.

Roster, Detroit feels like the best of those three, and Buffalo's a little bit of both. Josh Allen makes them great situationally, Sean McDermott, good coach situationally, and I like their roster and their offensive weapons. So, J. Mack, herd hierarchy top of next hour. I have a team with four and six record in my herd hierarchy. Okay. Excited for that. Let me quickly go back to something you said on Joe Douglas. He whiffed on a quarterback in the COVID draft, right?

So he got Zach Wilson, didn't work out. Can I just remind you of the other guys who went in the first round in that draft? So Trevor Lawrence went one. He's been a disappointment. He's about to be on his third head coach. But he was a disappointment. 100%. Trey Lance went third.

He is on his second team. He's a backup. Who is he? Justin Fields went. Where did you go? Miss. Yeah, it's a whiff. He's on his second team.

Matt Jones. went 15. Miss. Miss. Okay. So no quarterbacks panned out from that draft.

None. I'm not, listen, I'm not defending Joe Douglas here, but this idea that, oh, he may, whiffed on Zach Wilson. Like, okay,

every quarterback in that draft is a disappointed. And everybody, I, listen, I talked to a general manager in the league that year that did not need a quarterback. Right.

And he told me, he said, Colin, I don't like any of these. He goes, I don't have enough tape. The practice schedules are different. The game schedules are different. He goes,

I am so. glad I don't have to draft a quarterback. So if you're firing him because he missed on that. That's, yeah. By the way, he was in Baltimore, a classy organization. That drafts well. And you treated him like garbage by, the owner gets on his knees to fly to Green Bay to recruit Aaron Rogers.

And then the Hassan Redick and the firing, like, he had no power. I'm sure right now, I was just texting somebody who knows Douglas. And he's like, oh, he gets to spend the holiday with his family instead of being in the facility on a team that, with a bunch of quitters on defense. who aren't playing for the interim coach when they were playing for Sala last year. So, you know, good luck to Joe Douglas. He doesn't need this crap. Nobody needs to be there.
