This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, this is Robert from the Stuff to Blow Your Mind podcast.
Joe and I are both lifelong Star Wars fan, so we're celebrating May the 4th with a brand new week of fun, thought-provoking Star Wars-related episodes.
Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away, such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot, or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule.

A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what you're saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in
sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Cliver Show.
This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not
only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
So let's get to it.

You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Oh, it is a Thursday, a dynamic, robust Thursday.
Lots to talk about Brady and the Ravens tonight.
It's the herd.
We're in L.A., wherever you may be, and however you may be listening.
Iheart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
One hour from now, Greg Kosell.
You like fantasy football?
You like betting football.
You like to get smarter with football.
one hour from now, Greg Kossel makes all of us, certainly me,
smarter every week.
He'll be joining us.
Jay Mack, watched a couple NBA games last night.
I like this time of the year.
So you get starting Friday, the World Series, World Cups around the corner.
NBA, you can't take too much from the first month,
but there are some obvious things we need to discuss.
How about the 76ers?
They look awful.
They're terrible.
Well, they're one and four.
They're lucky the Lakers are winless, and the Phillies are going to the World Series.
Eagles undefeated.
NBA is a little wild to start the season.
It is.
So the Lakers are 0 and 4.
And of the Lakers, many issues, they are an atrocious second half team.
The second half in the NBA is the coaching half.
That's adjustments.
The Lakers now tied at half with Denver, had a garbage third quarter and got blown out.
So we don't know if Darvin Ham can coach.
Last year, they weren't any good.
but they were a pretty decent second-half team.
So they're officially the worst shooting team in the league.
We don't know if they have a great coach.
But what's really, really obvious with this Laker team when you watch,
they don't have enough good players.
Good God, can you stop with Kendrick Nunn?
The Warriors had them in their G-League and let him go.
Miami had him, let him go.
Eric Spolster and Steve Kerr don't miss much on talent.
They both had him, let him go.
The Lakers are not close to a top 12 roster in this league, not even close.
And they've got only two pieces you can really move.
You're not going to move LeBron.
He's still great.
You can sell tickets because of LeBron.
He gets other people baskets and he gets baskets.
So you're not moving LeBron.
I would never do that.
But to get this roster right, you've got to make big trades.
This is not a tweak.
This is a full demo.
Okay, this is not a tweak.
This is not a little paint in the bathroom.
It's like tear it down to the studs.
And there's two players to trade.
One of them, Russell, Westbrook is obvious.
The other Anthony Davis is two, but Laker fans don't want to admit it.
Move him.
For two different reasons.
Westbrook has an expiring contract.
That's very attractive.
And AD has size, can defend at the rim, and is athletic and gives you
20 a night. That's very attractive.
But this is not me
overreacting to an 0 and 4 start.
I predicted before this season,
J. Mack wasn't here.
Ryan was as my witness.
I said, Anthony Davis
is going to have a very
good first half because
of all the criticism levied
against him
last year. Apathy,
laziness, never available.
He's off to a good start.
But he is a declining player.
At 24, he dominated an entire season.
He only played 75 games.
That's the most he's ever played.
That was his best full year.
At 26, he dominated in the bubble in Orlando.
But as we talked about, he got three and a half months off to get healthy.
He has declined ever since.
He is now 29.
He's already got a back issue this year.
Move him.
But like everything the Lakers do, they try to
fool the league. They tried to fool it with Westbrook. They should have made the Westbrook deal.
Talked to somebody yesterday who said it was a done deal and they didn't do it. They wanted
to get more. They wanted to get greedy. They thought there was a future. Part of being a great
business is identifying what you're not, not just what you are. The Lakers are not talented.
LeBron's always been very, very good at getting new pieces and making them work almost instantly.
I mean, he worked with Kevin Love instantly.
He worked with Anthony Davis instantly.
It took him 15 to 16 games with D. Wade.
He worked with Bosch.
LeBron's one of the smartest players ever.
He can work with new stuff, but he can't work with people that aren't good and can't shoot.
You could blow this thing up before the trade deadline.
and LeBron in 15 games would figure out a way to make it work.
He's done that his entire career.
It's Magic Johnson.
Everybody that played with Magic was better.
You can't say that with Michael Jordan.
You can with Magic.
You can with LeBron.
And Magic has always been LeBron's closest comp.
You can't say that with Kobe.
He's more of an MJ comp.
You could blow this up and LeBron in 15 games would make it work.
Westbrook deal.
You get Buddy Healed, another rim guy, Turner.
He'd make it work.
fast. But AD is the piece. We all saw this coming. Right? Bilo's sell high. His high,
you got the bubble the following year after the bubble. He literally came into camp out of shape
several years ago. And the Lakers could never, can't admit it. You got to take big swings.
You are 0 and 4 and you haven't played most of the really good teams in this league. The West is
loaded. Portland's better than we thought.
So are the Pelicans. The Eastern
Conference. You're not getting through Boston
and Philadelphia and Milwaukee.
I watched the bucks last night.
You're not close to those teams. You're not close
to the Warriors. I don't even
like the Suns much this year and you're not close
to them.
But LeBron, as he's prone to
do, puts it on his shoulders
after the game last night.
LeBron is, I can do more.
How do you balance
looking at the four losses so far at this point of the season with just everything going on.
What do you think the biggest thing you guys have to do to turn it around?
We're going to make some shots.
I wasn't aggressive enough on a lot of my turnovers.
I was coming off a lot of screens looking to pass to the guys involved.
And I wasn't aggressive enough.
And I was some careless turn was on my part.
LeBron's in his 20th year.
He wasn't aggressive enough?
LeBron's doing his part.
He's the only great thing about.
the team that is not movable because he already, he not only makes himself great, he makes others
great. He makes coaches better than we think they are. But outside of LeBron, he can't make average
great. And that's what this roster is a collection of. All right. I know I know a lot of you guys are
getting tired about the Aaron Rogers stuff, but he talks. He's a content creator. He's a human
TikTok. And so I called out Aaron yesterday. I said,
It's not all his fault, but, you know, everything he does now is very public.
The eye rolls are public.
The finger pointing is public.
The body language is public.
Pat McAfee every week is public.
The podium is public.
There's a reason big companies have PR departments and they sit down and go, yeah, let's keep this in house.
Let's put that message out.
Aaron, everything is public.
And I don't think when you're a quarterback or a CEO or a high school principal or somebody in a leadership
spot, everything needs to be public.
Some people put their meals on Twitter.
Here's what I had for breakfast.
Here's what I had for lunch.
Nobody cares.
Some stuff's for Twitter.
Some stuff's for my wife and I or my kids and I.
Not everything needs to be public.
So Aaron came out and publicly criticized his teammates, right?
Kind of publicly for the second time in a couple of weeks,
publicly criticized his coach, finger pointed.
And, you know, people like myself and others,
push back and Aaron talked yesterday again publicly. He's good at the talking part. I don't know
always love what he says, but he's always available. He deserves credit for that. He does. LeBron,
Aaron Rogers, Brady, they're always available to talk and that is something. Here's what he had
to say about that criticism. If one of those guys has a problem with it, I'm right here. I'd love to
have a conversation. I enjoy those conversations. I enjoy any type of conflict like that because I
know the resolution the other side is going to make us, you know, a better, you know, a better,
unit, a better friendship, better cohesion on the field.
That sounds good, but Aaron has a reputation of ghosting people who don't agree with them.
Ghosting friends if they criticize them on TV.
Aaron's not exactly, hey, bring conflict on.
I'm good with it.
Aaron plays favorites.
Aaron can be petty.
Aaron ghost people.
Also, Aaron's an iconic, rich American superstar.
Shocking that a wide receiver from Reno wouldn't want to come up and have some
conflict-driven relationship.
He's intimidating to people.
He's this good-looking rich, super-smart guy that's an American icon, shocking that
Christian Watson and, you know, Romeo Dobbs wouldn't come up and go, yeah, let's
spar, let's have con.
Aaron's vibe is sort of above the fray, super smart.
I know the truth.
That can be very intimidating.
So some people aren't getting the vibe that Aaron wants to hang out, have a conflict.
And I don't believe Aaron likes it.
conflict. How do I know that? Because I've watched it forever. It's always passive-aggressive
stuff. Here's the second thing he said. I don't understand why people have a problem with
things that are truthful. You know, I'm calling things the way I see it. People don't think
I need to air that stuff out. That's their opinion. But I'm doing what I think is the best
of our guys. And I've tried a lot of different things from a leadership standpoint this year.
and, you know, I was just relating my personal feelings in the situation.
Mirror, mirror on the wall.
Aaron does know his love the truth.
There's a reason Belichick gives you very little at the podium.
But yet he would call out Tom Brady in the film room, right?
He didn't want to do it publicly.
There's a reason people have PR firms and PR people that not everything is.
for public consumption. When you have very, very young players and you are a superstar, Tom Brady often
had young receivers who struggled. He didn't call him out in the press. He's not eye rolling him.
Not everything is for public consumption. I've said this. I've never had a problem. If I ask an
athlete something and they say, I don't want to talk about that. I'll say, well, why? And then when they
give me the answer, all right. You have a right not to talk about everything? Not everything's for me.
I'm media. I'm like the IRS. I'm auditing constantly. The media and the IRS are not built to be loved.
They're built to monitor. And sometimes you should keep stuff away from us. A lot of people in the
media are naive and think they have the right to all the answers. Not really. There are things
companies are going to acquire and they don't want it to hit the market.
They can screw with the valuation or the price.
There's hirings that are going to be made, but a company doesn't want it out yet, right?
It could be a competitive, negative, competitive situation where they like somebody,
they want to hire somebody.
Robert Quinn went to the Eagles yesterday.
None of us knew about it.
Eagles probably didn't want it out there that they wanted Robert Quinn because they got a
better evaluation or didn't have to give up as many draft picks.
not everything we are owed.
So therefore, you have to sometimes, as a Peyton Manning or a Brady or a Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahomes,
you don't have to call out every young teammate.
It's okay to make that a private discussion.
I always appreciate that Aaron's willing to talk.
That part he deserves great credit for.
He doesn't run from microphones ever.
LeBron doesn't.
LeBron's great at that stuff.
And I absolutely appreciate it.
And this is not all Aaron's fault.
But when he starts talking about sometimes people don't like the truth, mirror, mirror on the wall.
Sometimes Aaron doesn't like the truth.
And the other thing is, I like this conflict stuff.
There is proof he doesn't like this conflict stuff.
That's why he goes on a radio station and drops a message here,
goes on YouTube and drops a message there.
That's called passive aggressive.
That's not conflict.
So there's a lot of proof.
Some of that talk there is just not on, you know,
That's how he perceives it.
That's not how it lands for a lot of us.
All right.
And by the way, I'll defend Aaron later on something that I looked up this morning
and was actually shocked at an issue in Green Bay that is way worse than I thought.
That's coming out.
And by the way, the Eagles yesterday made a move.
And I think it's a way better move than they got credit for.
And I'll talk about that in Philly next.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack, so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now, so...
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Now entering the no bull zone sponsored by credible great rates, none of the bull.
Philadelphia yesterday went and acquired a defensive end Robert Quinn, multiple time pro-bowl.
Or not having a great year, but he gets to the quarterback.
And it's the right move.
They gave up a late fourth round draft pick.
Chicago needs draft picks and more good young players.
They don't need expensive Robert Quinn.
They'll pay most of his salary this year.
But they got to move on.
They've got to sell some of their defensive parts off.
He's a great guy.
He's a great locker room guy.
I mean, really respected in the league.
And it's the kind of piece that San Francisco just made with McCaffrey.
When you think you're close, go get another piece.
The Rams were close.
They went and got Vaughn Miller and Obie.
The bills reportedly want OBJ.
The Super Bowl bubble is about as small as I've ever had.
I usually have eight teams in it and three on the edges.
Right now, I got five teams in my Super Bowl bubble and a handful of teams on the edge.
And I don't really think those teams on the edge have much of a chance to win a Super Bowl.
I think the bills, the Chiefs, the Eagles, the Bengals, and the Niners.
Niners just have to get healthy.
They're really, really good.
better now with McCaffrey.
Then I think the Vikings, but there's the Kirk Cousins factor, shrinks in big games.
Dallas, we don't love the coach.
And that story is all defense, very little offense.
Tampa can't run the ball at all.
Worst in the league, O-line issues, asking Tom to throw 45 times.
I don't think it's a Super Bowl team.
And in Baltimore, I'll watch them for the next three or four or five weeks.
They keep losing games with big leads.
it's become a trend.
They keep losing games to teams they're better than, but I like Baltimore a lot.
And so I think Philadelphia looks at it and says, and this is the way the Niners looked at it.
This is the way the Rams looked at OBJ.
Can OBJ make a play in a big game if it's close?
And OBJ did.
He was on his way potentially to be in the Super Bowl MVP against the Bengals.
And that's how, by the way, that's how they look at McCaffrey.
They're not giving McCaffrey 25 carries, 8 to 9 touches.
Red Zone Specialist.
Can he take away some of the runs for Debo Samuel and keep Debo mostly in the passing game?
The answer is yes.
When you're close, go for it.
And these good teams, by the way, the Buffaloes and the Philadelphias and the Rams,
they're at the bottom of the round.
Philadelphia is giving up a late fourth round pick.
A late fourth round pick in the NFL, unless you're a bad team, it's not a starter year one.
on Philadelphia, a late fourth pick is a kid you bring in,
you special team him, he's a backup, hopefully second-eary becomes part of the rotation.
But Philadelphia is in the win-now mode.
This stuff doesn't last forever.
That Nick Foles team went down here real fast.
Half the NFL goes into the tank after they make the playoffs.
I mean, look at this year.
How many of you predicted the Jets and the Giants would be as good as they are?
Okay, that's the leak.
How many predicted, we did, but how many predicted,
Green Bay would be this mediocre.
Denver, I thought, would be good.
They're atrocious.
So I love what they're doing.
He's a good guy.
He's the kind of player.
Robert Quinn's the kind of player.
If I said this to you, yeah, week 13, week 14, huge divisional game.
He made the big sack in overtime.
You'd be like, yeah, that's exactly what Robert Quinn would do.
Or if I said San Francisco, got into the red zone, tied with the Rams, quick little move,
and McCaffrey ended up making the offensive play of the game in the red zone.
You'd be like, yeah.
Yeah, I can see that happening.
Robert Quinn, good guy, not having a great year.
Bears are picking it up.
You're giving away no really, really valuable draft capital for a great roster.
Again, if it's a Chicago's rebuilding, that fourth round pick for Chicago could start.
I mean, God, they drafted a corner and a safety, and two of their best players,
certainly the safety is one of their best defensive players.
J-Mac with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
It doesn't quite feel like the Von Miller acquisition by the Rams.
But this is a scale-down version of that.
Okay, but think about that.
That's a great point.
When Vaughn Miller got picked up, there were those that said, boy, that's a lot.
Because remember, he wasn't in that space having, remember Denver trailed latent games.
So Vaughn Miller, you know, teams were killing the clock in the fourth quarter against Denver.
Denver. The Rams were leaving games late, so he was a pass rusher. And Bradley Chubb was hurt
last year, so Vaughn was getting all the attention on the edge. He wasn't, and then he comes
to the Rams and he's dominant. I think the Vaughn Miller move is classic. If you go back and read
media reports, people didn't think it was a difference maker. People were shocked how good he
was in the postseason. He was a complete game changer. He got that contract in Buffalo.
nobody would have thought he would have gone from Denver to Buffalo for that contract.
Rejuvenated his career.
So I think Quinn, whose career feels like it's flailing, now he's on Philadelphia.
They lead games.
He's now a pass rusher late in games as teams are trying to catch up to Philadelphia.
You can just tee off, you know, and he's got like a rotation of guys coming off the edge.
They got a lot of talent on that defensive line.
Have you looked at the schedule for the Eagles coming up, Colin?
It's WCity.
I mean, we're looking at 10 and 0.
Seriously, the quarterbacks are a joke.
But think about this.
Think about this.
In Chicago, he's often playing Robert Quinn against teams that lead the bears.
And they're eating the clock.
So what's Robert's value?
Now, have the Eagles led?
I mean, they've won every game, but they've jumped out to big leads on.
Yeah, they're one of the best first half teams in the league.
So his value in the second half is huge.
Go get the quarterback.
Yep.
See you later.
All right.
First up, Denver Broncos.
You know, we were both very wrong on them.
expectations coming in. They're two and five. It feels like an elimination game in London.
A lot of talk yesterday on this show about Nathaniel Hackett maybe getting left in London
if they lose the game. He's taken a lot of heat, but GM George Peyton says, I'm sorry, Patton
says he has total confidence in Hackett. I believe in Nathaniel. You know, he, I support Nathaniel 100%.
He's been in this seven games, you know, as a head coach. The scrutiny he's he's faced is
is unprecedented.
You know, we've had four primetime games,
so he's kind of had to learn in front of the entire world.
But I really like how the team, he's kept the team together.
They're connected.
He's kept our building together.
And I appreciate how he's fought through that.
A lot of positives for a guy who is struggling big time.
What happens if they get blown out against Jacksonville?
Jacksonville can't blow out anybody, except the charges, of course.
A couple stats for you, Colin.
I look this up.
Nathaniel Hackett, offensive mind.
They are 31st on third down.
You know, winning time, right?
What happens when you get close to the end zone, red zone?
Dead last in the league.
Yeah.
It's a difference between, like the Lakers.
It's one thing to say that they're not a very good shooting team.
It's another thing to say the Lakers are on pace to be the worst shooting team in league history.
It's not that Denver's bad in the red zone.
They're awful.
So there are levels of bad and levels of good.
We always talk about on this show the levels of good.
He's very good.
He's great.
There are levels of bad.
There are fixable problems, right?
Like Baltimore has not been a good fourth quarter team.
But they're a good first half team and they're a well-coached team.
So I think Baltimore can solve its fourth quarter issue.
Lakers can't solve their shooting without big trades.
And Denver's Red Zone stuff, the O-line's bad.
Their best running back is out.
They're probably outside of Cortland Sutton.
They're going to move Jerry, Judy.
I don't think it's solvable unless...
You remember yesterday when you talked about Shane Waldron,
the Seattle offensive quarter of the...
He's doing awesome.
He was with Russ last year.
That was Russ's guy.
He's excelling now that Russ is gone.
I bet you Nathaniel Hackett goes somewhere next year.
Somebody's going to hire.
Come on.
He's got the pedigree.
Shane Waldron.
You mean Shane Waldron?
Waldron.
Yeah, he's going to get a job.
He's doing great.
But Nathaniel Hackett, when he gets fired in Denver,
is going to go somewhere, be an offensive coordinator,
and he's going to do a good job next year.
No spotlight.
None of this Russell Wilson business.
This is interesting.
This is a really interesting point you bring up.
So Shane Waldron is rejuvenating Gino
Smith's career. He's going to get a head coaching offer. Absolutely.
Probably get an interview at least, yeah.
Absolutely. First of all, he was a home run with the Rams, home run with Gino Smith.
He's getting a job. Okay, there's going to be eight openings. You know that. There's always eight
openings last 20 years. He's going to get offensive league, so Shane Waldron's going to get it.
It's interesting for Seattle. Pete Carroll's too smart not to know that. Pete probably, who
shuffled through a lot of OCs, hit a home run.
He got a blackjack.
So as Pete thinking before the trade deadline,
we may want to,
Seattle's got two first round picks,
two second round picks, two fourth round picks.
It'd be interesting to see if Seattle would give up a picker to
to get a real playmaker for their defense.
Make a run to the playoffs?
Listen, Pete knows.
Next year he's going to have a rookie quarterback
and no Shane Waldron.
So Pete's had a mixed bag of offensive coordinator.
he hit the lotto.
That kid ain't sitting around for three years in Seattle.
Are you friendly with Schneider, the Seattle O's GM at all?
I would love to know who had more input in the OC, Russell Wilson or Pete Carroll.
Because remember, if you read articles out there at NFL.com, Russell Wilson almost handpicked Waldron
because he saw the Rams in the division doing cool stuff.
Oh, we need to bring that over here.
And they didn't really dial up the good plays last year.
All right, moving on the New England Patriots, they're going to start Mac Jones at quarterback Sunday against the Jets.
Mac took about 90% of the snaps at practice Wednesday and is not listed on the injury report.
Bailey Zappi, he's going to be the backup.
Colin, the New England Patriots have won 12 straight against the Jets,
average margin of victory, 20.
Bill Belichick, Mack Jones.
What are your thoughts on this decision?
I, of course, would have stayed with Bailey Zappy last game.
They didn't.
I think starting Mac Jones on the,
the road away from Foxborough's.
Probably now after we saw Bailey's Appie's second half.
I don't have strong convictions.
I think they're both okay.
I think Mac's probably the more talented version.
I would have stayed with Zappy.
Sometimes the backup's humming.
Mac wasn't 100%.
It was at home.
It was a great defense.
It was Iber Flush.
You could predict it wouldn't have been a really great start.
I think they misjudged the moment in New England.
Okay.
But Colin,
Mac Jones played three drives, had an interception that yanked him.
Is he going to be on a short leash again this week?
And is he going to be looking over his shoulder?
Geez, what if I make a mistake in the first quarter?
Am I getting pulled again?
It's a good question.
I don't know the answer.
And by the way, the Jets.
But neither one of us liked how they handled the last game, right?
Correct. So that was surprising that they basically...
Uncharacteristic.
Three series pulled him out, crowd turned on Mac Jones,
and then Bailey Zappie, who I do think, I will say again.
I think Mac's more talented.
I think Bailey runs the offense better.
That's a difference.
I think Mac is more talented.
I think Bailey's Appie, from what I've seen, can run the offense better.
Now, some of that's Mac's been hurt.
I will point out, the Patriot's hung 54 on the Jets in one of the games last year.
We're throwing in the fourth quarter up like 40 points.
Jets remember that.
Just file it away.
All right.
This game is, all right.
Finally, 49ers made the big move, obviously adding Christian McCaffrey.
He joined an already stacked group of offensive weapons at San Fran.
And Steve Young, boy, Steve Young loves to pipe.
up with 49ers takes, he thinks the addition of McCaffrey will make it very difficult for opposing
defenses to slow them down.
Because if Kyle can design things that put Debo and him and Brandon in places where, and George,
in places where they can start to help each other and understand the space relationship
amongst each other and what we're trying to accomplish, with three of them, you can say,
wow, that's a problem.
But four of them, you can put people in a bind every play.
if everybody is on the same page.
And so that's, I think, why they paid them the price that they did
is because you can start to abuse people you're throwing at them.
I like the piece.
I like the Quinn piece.
When you add one of the best running backs in the league, it's going to help the offense.
Steve Young.
Earth-shattering stuff from Hall of Fame quarterback.
I mean, come on.
Listen, this game against the Rams is fascinating.
It really is.
I think it's the most interesting game of the week because McVeigh off a buy.
Good coaches, Andy Reid, McVeigh, Belichick off a buy,
lethal. But Shanahan totally
owns McVeigh. And the Rams
win almost every game except the
NFC championship. And the Rams really are a one
wide receiver team right now. That's what they are.
Do the Rams have the defensive backs, the linebackers,
to cover all these dudes? This is going to be a good
I'm not going. Are you going to the game? Nope.
Watching it.
I'll be watching it. Jay Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news. And thanks for
stopping by. The Hurdline
news. Yeah, the Mac Jones-Baley's
Appie thing is not that fascinating because
neither is great, right? And the team's not very
good. But Max, you know, as I've said, I think he's the better player, but you watch Bailey
Zappy and maybe it was because it was against two bad teams, but you watched it and you're like,
oh, he's more effective running the offense. He's just not the better player. It happens.
More drama in Brooklyn last night. What a mess. I'll get into it later. Pete Shreger, Greg

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app.

Say it again, I think the Robert Quinn moved to the Eagles is underrated.
They lead games late.
He can pin his ears back.
Go get the quarterback.
It's very Vaughn Miller to the Rams.
Vaughn Miller was in Denver.
They trailed late.
He wasn't in pass rushing situations.
Goes to L.A.
They lead games in the fourth.
Pass rushing situations.
Robert Quinn is way better than a deep fourth round pick.
He is going to be in big games, Eagles leading, four minutes left, and he's going to make sacks.
There's a big difference for a pass rusher when you lead late and you're trailing late.
It's a different role entirely.
Peter Schrager is joining us, Fox Sports, NFL kickoff on Sunday.
You know, we talked about Shane Waldron.
I said, listen, this is the second year.
He's rejuvenated, Gino Smith.
He's not going to be around Seattle long as a coordinator.
What do you make of this story, which is it really doesn't have a problem?
precedent. Gino from a bus to a backup to a star. Their energy is through the roof. You watch them
on television. They're fast. What do you make of it? Colin, I go back to the draft when I was
working for NFL network on that panel. And we have Pete Carolyn as a guest. And I say, all right,
Pete, just traded for Drew Locke. What do you like in Drew Locke? And he cuts me off. And he's
like, well, we got Gino. We got Gino. And I'm like, all right, Pete's going to make this into a
quarterback company. I think everyone thought Drew Locke. But here's the deal. Gino Smith was a free
agent this past season. He signed his fourth straight one year deal to join the Seattle Seahawks.
Fourth straight, meaning he was pretty confident that he can get this job over Drew Locke and that the
team might have told him, hey, you're going to be a starter here, just do your thing. And then they
go to the draft. And, you know, with everyone talking quarterback, quarterback, quarterback,
they get two starting tackles in the first and third round, which is unheard of for a team that's
actually playing good football. They get Kenneth Walker, who's leading all rookies in rushing yard since
week four. And then they get this incredible duo in the backfield of Tariq Wullen out of
at University of Texas, San Antonio. And then this guy, Kobe Bryant, who lined up on the other
side of Sauce Gardner and was the Jim Thorpe winner last year at Cincinnati. So you have now
all of these rookies, five rookies contributing. And I got this guy, Boye-Mafay out of Minnesota,
who starts at linebacker, six starters in a rookie class. And this is exactly a decade after the fact
that John Schneider and Pete Carroll decided, oh, we're going to take Bobby Wagner,
in the second round. We're going to take Russell Wilson in the third round. We're going to take Bruce
server. Like, this is unprecedented, not only for the Gino's story, but you don't see a coach and
GM get the opportunity to rebuild a franchise twice in their careers. And they're doing that
overnight with what Seattle's doing. You know, the Jets and the Giants, we both think it's a
defensive story and a running game story. But I do see a difference. The Giants are not taking the
ball out of Daniel Jones' hands. They're managing him, but he's making some throws. With the
Jets, they're just saying, Zach, we're not going to let you lose this game. You can tell there's
a concern about his sort of Johnny Mansell run around, make a play style, which often ends poorly.
So that leads me to believe the giant style is more sustainable than the jet style. And here
come the Patriots off an embarrassing loss. Give me your thoughts on that game, Zach Wilson. Is it
sustainable? Because it's a wonderful story for New York, but not all stories, not all great stories.
are great team, Shrags.
Yeah, and you know Jets fans, and I know Jets fans, plenty in my life.
And it was, you know, Brees Hall goes down, Elijah Vera Tucker goes down.
Why can't we just have nice things?
And it's always we with Jet fans.
We, like as if, yeah, we.
Why can't we have nice things?
Why does this happen to me?
No, it's not you.
If there's a team and, all right, that's beside the point.
Zach Wilson at some point is going to have to make a play.
Zach Wilson at some point is going to have to win a game with his arm.
Zach Wilson at some point is going to have to go against another top quarterback in the
AFC and out duel him head to head.
I want to take nothing away from what this Jets team has done.
They are 4 and 0 on the road.
They're winning with so many young players and it's been a great story.
But with Brise Hall down and Verrett Tucker down,
and here comes Bill checking the Patriots.
I can't even tell you how much of a mental grasp the Patriots have on the Jets right now.
And you can say, well, it's all young guys.
12 straight times the Patriots have beaten the Jets.
the stat below that you see here,
that they have not beaten them since 2015.
They haven't beaten them in regulation
in a regular season game since 2010.
When our Fox colleague Mark Sanchez was the quarterback of that team,
that's how long it's been since the Jets have beaten the Patriots
in a regular season game and regulation.
And guess what?
They go to New Jersey this weekend and the Jets are riding high.
They're feeling themselves.
You got some like, you know, a lot of Jets fans feeling good.
Guess who's favored?
The Patriots are favored.
because they always are.
And if Zach Wilson could have a big game and win this one,
it's like a real turning of the page.
It's almost bigger than winning in Lambo.
This one is like, all right, like here's our flag in the ground.
We beat Belichick and we beat that uniform.
You know, it's interesting.
I always appreciate Aaron Rogers and LeBron James' willingness to always talk.
They'll answer any question.
And that's a credit to them.
And they deserve it.
And I think I should say that.
Aaron, though, a lot of what he says is public.
The eye rolls are public.
The McAfee shows public.
The podium stuff is public.
And he is an iconic figure.
And he has rookie receivers.
And so his thing is, hey, they just got to hear the truth.
And my takeaway is, does it have to be public?
You don't have to show what you eat for dinner on Twitter.
Not everything is for public.
You know what I mean?
Like, it's okay to have a private life too.
Remember the old movie Warren Beatty, Madonna?
He's like, does everything have to be public with you?
Can we have a private conversation?
and I'm aging myself.
But with Aaron...
No, I know the movie.
Black and white, always.
The whole thing.
Yeah, great.
Keep on.
So my takeaway with Aaron,
now he even took a little bit of a shot at Matt LaFleur publicly,
which is, you know, we don't have the right guys in.
Do you think there are little tiny fissures here?
I said yesterday, if Jordan Love could play,
they may have moved off him.
I think it's turning into a far-s situation where they know he's good,
but they're exhausted by it.
The movie you referenced was,
truth or dare. I loved it. I also used to get annoyed when people would post pictures of fireworks on July
4th on the Twitter. Yes, we get it. We've seen a firework. With LaFleur and Rogers, it's interesting because
it's such a unique personality. If Matt says something publicly back and claps back,
is Rogers' reaction? And if Rogers is only doing it behind closed doors and doesn't do it publicly,
are the players going to feel this responsibility? You know, it's interesting.
They came out and both Rogers and Mercedes Lewis talked about it,
a special teams player.
Dallin Leavitt was the one who gave like the motivational speech after the loss
or early in practice this week,
like on Monday.
And they were both like,
all right,
like that's a new voice.
I think Rogers is feeling not only the responsibility of having to do this all by
himself out there with the lack of talent at the skill positions and the receivers
and the and whatever else you have at the offensive line,
not holding up.
I also feel like there's,
he's trying every trick in the book to motivate.
these guys. And us on the outside are like, that doesn't work. You know, that's a Christian Watson's a
North Dakota state receipt, like calling him out publicly or calling out Dobbs. Like, that's not going to
work. But I think Rogers is trying every, every tool in his tool belt. And I'm not sure there's
enough motivational tactics that are going to work with the talent around him. The question is,
how does LaFleur keep this boat on the steady waters here? Right. If they, if they lose, I mean, look,
If they lose by 20 to Buffalo and Rogers tease off again on the coach,
at some point you think LaFleur's got to answer back publicly.
Right.
But if you lose Rogers, goodbye.
No, that's the great point.
Aaron said people don't want to hear the truth.
If Aaron gets boat race by Buffalo and LaFleur says, I didn't like Aaron's play,
does Aaron like the truth?
Because right now...
You won't hear it.
You won't hear it.
LaFleur's not going there.
He knows that for this team, you can't lose Rogers.
McCarthy lost Rogers.
Rogers. Guys have lost Rogers and then you're done. And I know that it might feel good in the moment.
LaFleur has to take the high road because the second you start getting in a public spat with Rogers,
you're not going to win. He's got a microphone everywhere he goes and he's pretty good with the with the tongue.
Yeah, no, he is. By the way, tonight, Bucks, Ray, I still love the Ravens, by the way. I'm never going to bet him again.
You're not giving him, I love them. Tampa Bay are there problem? We got two minutes. They can't run. Are there problems fixable?
Baltimore's are.
They can be a better fourth quarter team.
Are Tampa's problems fixable?
First of all, I work on a morning TV show.
When you say, we got two minutes, it means, hey, tighten up your answer.
Here's what it is.
Buccaneers are the worst rushing team in the league.
And not only are the worst rushing team in the league.
This goes back to like your 2000.
They're the worst rushing team in the league right now.
They have absolutely no run game.
So it all comes back on Brady.
And yet the offensive line is a sieve.
It's terrible.
I don't know if they can snap their fingers and get back.
But I would be shocked if they didn't try to establish.
Leonard Fernett early and at least make a statement with that.
I think Baltimore wins.
I think the Ravens are a better football team right now.
I have no idea what we're talking about Monday or tomorrow, actually,
if Brady just gets run off the field again,
it's hard to do the same storyline over and over again for you to say,
maybe this team just doesn't have it this year.
By the way, new podcast, the season with Peter Schreger.
He does it with a super smart guy.
Ken Dorsey, O.C. with the Bills. Episode 3 is up.
I heart media NFL.
It's a good lesson.
Dorsey's really, really fun.
he throws like an occasional headset, but I don't care.
He's great.
He's probably as good as OC as everybody in the league right now.
He's really, really sharp.
Shregs, it's great seeing you.
You're the best, Colin.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
Yeah.
Ken Dorsey's another guy.
There's going to be, we were talking about this during the break.
There's going to be eight coaching openings.
Arizona may have one.
Denver may have one.
Indianapolis.
Detroit.
Detroit.
Washington.
We're just guessing, but we're going to have eight so you can talk your way out of it.
Denver?
Oh, Denver, yeah.
Did I say Denver or not so you're at four or five?
Yeah, I think we counted seven probably.
You think Dorsey gets in the mix?
Oh, Dorsey's getting a job.
It's been good.
Shane Walren.
Chargers is interesting.
Chargers might already have their guy waiting in the wings.
I don't know.
I'm not saying that.
Dallas is interesting.
Again, it's all great now.
What happens when you go lose to the Eagles and the giant?
and Jerry's like getting close to 80.
Because McCarthy's an offensive guy and what part of the team is amazing, Dan Quinn on defense.
The defense is great.
So in the whole, in the world, the galaxy of Jerry, he looks at the defense and thinks,
I like what that looks like.
Also, Carolina's already open.
Matt Ruhl got dusted.
So you're talking.
We're about six or seven jobs.
I don't, Kingsbury, do you really think he's in trouble?
I think they're righted the ship and I don't want to give away.
a pick for tomorrow, but I may have laid the lumber
already on the Arizona car. No,
I think, I've said before,
do I think Cliff Kingsbury's elite?
No. But I don't, I don't
know what it is. I've said this with Matt LaFleur.
I don't think he's elite.
He's been annoyeded to an elite
class because he beat the lions
and the bears a lot. I don't think he's that.
But I'm not saying he's bad or incapable.
I think Cliff and Matt are both
very capable guys.
How about Lovey Smith, one and done in Houston?
God, could they give somebody? I'm sorry
bring up the Houston Texans on national television.
Well, I mean, just say this, at some point, can that organization not be chaotic?
Give Lovey a few years. Let it work. Let it bake a little.
I feel bad for C.J. Stroud already.
Greg Cole sells around the corner of the herd.
