Six and a half months with no football live in Los Angeles. It's the herd wherever you may be and however you may be listening. IHeart Radio. Fox Sports Radio, FS1. Joy Taylor is joining me today. I went out to celebrate Valentine's Day. Saw a lot of football people. Vaughn Miller and some of the Rams were in the restaurant.

Very, very happy. think they probably tipped a glass or two, a very celebratory evening in Los Angeles. Yes, it should be. Should be. I saw Tom Brady had a funny quote this morning. He does a podcast with Jim Gray, and it was there like last one. And he said, man, I eat a lot more key lime pies now. Oh, Key lime pies the best.

Oh, I know where I was the first time I had a key lime pie at a Hyatt in Tampa, Florida, overlooking the bay. That's how good it. I'd never have one before. Only go to eat key lime pie. Makes so much sense. There is no better dessert. Let's start with this.

You know, you've heard it before, and it is true. All the crappy stuff that happens in your life will benefit you later. It'll toughen you up, give you some metal, some moxie, some toughness. But when you're living in that tunnel of garbage and nonsense, it's no fun. Right? But I will say this, and it's universal. I've talked about this with my friends. The bad times, toughen you up, and you should go through some bad times.

You really should. You should struggle. You should be fired. You should have to deal with, you know, like a bad boss or somebody breaks your heart. It all comes out eventually to toughen you up. That's Matt Stafford's career before this year with Detroit. And so now the debate is, well, well, well, is he going to be a Hall of Famer? No, there's a headline this morning.

Richard Sherman is adamant. Matthew Stafford isn't a Hall of Famer. Yes, that's the true headline. They should put dot, dot, dot, dot yet. But he's a great example of what you saw this year was overwhelmingly due to the garbage in his life. Now, he doesn't have an MVP. He's got a losing record. He's got one Pro Bowl.

There are benchmarks you've got to hit. And right now, he's not a Hall of Fame player. But he's 34 and he's got a long runway. But at 34 years old, he's probably out of his athletic prime. And this is a great example of own your space, be willing to move. my knock on Matt Stafford is he was too patient with the Lions. Now, he should get into the Hall of Fame, but he has a losing record. Now, in two years, he'll have a winning record with the Rams if McBay stays, and I think he will.

In two years, he'll be top 10 in passing yards all time, passing Lway. He'll be top 10 in passing touchdowns, passing Lway and Warren Moon and Eli Manning. And probably the best thing he's got going for him, though, he's got an identifiable trait. And Hall of Fame voters need something to grab onto, right? You got to give them something. All-time base stealer, all-time leader in three points or block shot. You got to give him something.

His identifiable trait is, bro, is clutch. So this year was the best year ever for a quarterback in the fourth quarter. 14 touchdowns and no interceptions. He was the best fourth quarter quarterback in the NFL. He is also seventh all-time. in game-winning drives. He will probably end up number one or two all-time. So you give the voters something to grab onto.

He's going to get the volume stat if he plays four more years with McVe, 38-39. He's got the hardware, at least one. But I think what he gives you is an identifiable trait. Like that no-look pass is a really big deal for him. Because when you're sitting there in that Hall of Fame thing, when Patrick Mahomes is retweeting that going, wow. That's the trait. That's what you grab on to.

And the two other things that benefit him is Sean McVeigh's great, and we know that offensive coaches elevate quarterbacks. And the second thing, and this is the Detroit thing, is that I do think a lot of us now realize, man, how bad is Detroit? When you see the pivot from Detroit to the Super Bowl that makes you go, man, and it's easy to pick on Detroit because they're probably not going to be a Super Bowl team in years. it benefits him. And that goes back to my argument.

The crap benefits you. But in the end, if you're on the fence with Matt Stafford, the thing that could push him over is, look at how many times he came from behind a win. In Detroit, with their nonsense. So it all eventually, if you work hard, keep your head down, the crap will help you. It's just no fun in the middle of the tunnel. It stinks. You're getting ripped.

now I didn't have to go up with social media. Now you got the social media picking on you and Instagram and TikTok and Twitter. I didn't have to deal with any of that. Obama was the first president that had to deal with the vile nature of social media. I remember asking him once in an interview. Like, you're the first guy that had to deal with this. And he's like, yeah, it's angry. The sea is angry, my friends.

But I think in the end, Matt's got some tarmac. I think he should have left earlier from Detroit. But I think the fact that it was Detroit and what he overcame will probably nudge him into the Hall of Fame. And here was McVeigh after the game with more than the usual on Matt Stafford. He elevates everybody.

And I'm not just talking about his teammates. I'm a better coach for being around this guy. The way he's so smart, he does the way that he goes about his preparation, his recall, his ability to take experiences and apply them for the right reasons. This guy's a baller. He's so much better than anybody ever

thought. He makes everybody around him better and that's what the greats do. He's a great I don't know how he's not a gold jacket guy. Let's talk Kyler Murray, who's not a gold jacket guy, but it looks like to me he's a great one. So in the last week, Super Bowl week, there's been a lot of stuff. So let's go in chronological order of the weirdness between the star quarterback and the organization. All right, number one, they played a playoff game against the Rams and Kyler Murray didn't run. Had the fewest rushing attempts in his career.

that's weird because that's his strength and he didn't run and I thought that was really weird and I said it. Number two, Kyler Murray then scrubs his social media accounts, all of them of Arizona Cardinal stuff. Number three, there's a leak inside the building for the team taking a shot at Kyler Murray, calling him a finger pointer. He's immature, blah, blah, blah. And then number four, Kyler fires back. Okay, we said this last week. Baker Mayfield, drama, Aaron Rogers, drama, Cam Newton, some drama. Kyler, some drama, Jay Cutler, some drama, Aaron Rogers, some drama, Brett Farrs, some drama.

He's not the first, and you've got to come to terms with it, because he's great and getting better. Not everybody's going to be Dak and not everybody is going to be Matt Ryan. I mean, think about this. Eli Manning, who I've known for a long time, I've done events with Eli, is one of the nicest guys in league history. I mean, he's really a gem. You cannot get a better person than Eli Manning. even in the end of his career in New York. They benched him.

Everybody hated the coach. I lived in Connecticut at the time. So I would listen to Sports Radio in New York. It was a hate fest for two months with Eli Manning. I mean, Eli Manning's unhatable. And it was just the team wasn't even good. Eli at that point wasn't very good. And it was just major drama.

Even the good guys, there's drama. I think Russell Wilson's a good. guy. There's drama. You just got to come to terms with this stuff. Patrick Mahomes, great kid. His mom's firing on social media. His brother's on TikTok. His family can be kind of different. He's got drama in his life. And he's about the most likable, coachable guy in the league. So is Kyler Murray great? Yes. Does Kyler Murray come with some drama? Absolutely. But give Kyler Murray credit for this. So Josh Allen of the bills got paid early. Josh, and this matters, is big and strong and 6-6 and 250. He got paid early. But Baker Mayfield

didn't and he's hurt. And Lamar Jackson's smaller, didn't and he's hurt. And Kyler is looking at that going, I'm not stupid. I'm like 5-11, 5-10. I've been hurt back-to-back years. Pay me. That's what this to me is all about. Is it Kyler is looking at Baker and looking at Lamar and saying those guys are called too thin or too small and they're both hurt and they haven't been paid yet and we're not sure we think Cleveland won't pay Baker the big bag and we're not sure on Lamar Jackson what if he suffered another injury nick this year early and so Kaiser's going okay I'm not six six two 50 like the guy in Buffalo I haven't hurt twice those other two guys didn't get paid I'm not sure they are and I think I'm as good as any young quarterback in the

league. He's got an argument. He wants to get paid. And I think you have to pay him. And I think it helps him that he's in the SEC of the NFL, the NFC West. You got McVeigh. You got Pete Carroll. You got Kyle Shanahan. Got pay him. Sometimes, listen, if you're expecting a quarterback, their American royalty, it used to be NBA stars were kind of our, they were like international soccer stars. They had shoe deals, Magic Johnson, Larry, Bird, and maybe our boxers, Muhammad Ali. But NFL guys now make better than NBA money, and increasingly, they're getting endorsements and they're getting shoes. I can remember years ago, and I could be wrong on this one, Donovan McNabb got a soup commercial, Campbell soup, chunky soup.

And I remember being on the air, this was like 12 years ago in thinking it was one of the only big commercials. I'm dead serious. I mean, guys had local commercials, but it, but it stuck out to me as like, man, the NBA guys always had commercials. Shoe commercials everywhere. Magic back in the 80s and Bird and Converse. But like, I remember Donovan McNad have a chunky soup commercial. I'm like, and not many of those. Now NFL guys have commercials everywhere. The Super Bowl went up 8% this year.

Last year it had Brady and Mahomes in it. This year it had the Bengals and the Rams aren't even the most popular team in their own city. It went up 8%. They are now, quarterbacks are now American. royalty. And guess what? Sometimes Michael Jordan tick you off, magic, Larry Bird, Dr. Jay.

Deal with it. There's about six guys in the planet as good as Kyler Murray. You have to pay him. Drama? It's the new reality for star quarterbacks. All right. Brady, maybe I won't retire. McVeigh, maybe I will. I've got some thoughts on that. It is, you know, I woke up

last night I went out because usually during the week I don't go out much. during the football season. And last night was Monday, and I'm not going to, I'm not going to lie to you. I partied last night. I had a good time. I celebrated in Los Angeles last night at a swanky hotel and a swanky restaurant, the Rams were there.

You've been very Hollywood. Very, very. You know what? I think I'm just going to take a bite out of that Hollywood apple just a little bit. You can lean into it? Not at all. When in Rome? Not at all.

I mean at this point Mark this is the second episode where we've discussed crack so I'm starting to see that there's a through line We also have AIDS on the table right now so that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really?

Oh, it's good to have you in on a Tuesday. So I've said for years, the media is the IRS. We are not built to be liked.

Sometimes we audit you. Sometimes you've got to pay us more than you want to. Other times we give you a return, favorable. But the media isn't one thing like the IRS. The media is a lot of things. I'm media, newspapers media. Twitters now, to me, feels like media. The more options you have in life, you should give fewer absolute answers. And the media's job is to get definitive answers. So the media keeps asking Sean McVeigh, are you coming back or retiring? And he won't give them a definitive answer. He probably shouldn't. They keep asking Tom.

Brady. Tom, are you sure you're not coming back? Yesterday, Tom Brady said he's super content, but he'd like to take it day by day. Listen, if you're the eighth best realtor in a 12-person office, your answers are probably going to be more absolute. I'd like to keep my job. If you're the seventh best attorney in a 20-person attorney, your answers can be more absolute. But if you're the best young football coach, the game has, and Sean McVeigh certainly has that argument, or you're the greatest football player in league history and you're still in great shape, Tom Brady, you shouldn't give absolute answers. McBey wants to return, but he makes about $8 million bucks a year. L.A.'s expensive. Belichick makes closer to 15, and he wants a raise. If they don't

give him to him, he may go to television. But I'm told he'd prefer to coach. He loves the team. He loves the owner. He loves the front office. He loves the players. He'd like to coach. But why should he give his hand up? He's got options. I think he'll come back. We'll see is what he said yesterday. Same for Tom Brady. Look at Tom Brady. Let's say the 49ers, the Trey Lance thing, go sideways. He's just got a ceiling.

It's not good. He's not as good as Russell Wilson. He's not as good as Kyler Murray. He's not as good as Matt Stafford. We all know this. Good luck with the fourth best quarterback in the division. Brady watches it. His hometown San Francisco.

What wore him out in Tampa? The looseness. What is Kyle Shanahan the opposite of loose? so that intensity is very Belichekian. And if Trey Lance didn't work, he sat for a year, he comes in, he's the fourth best quarterback in a division, you see a ceiling, you'd have to admit simultaneously, yeah, that was not a good pick. What would get people not to talk about that? Bringing Tom Brady in.

It would be front page news. So I could see Brady going back to San Francisco in a year. I don't think it's going to happen, but there's a 10% chance, 15% chance if the Trey Lance thing doesn't work. I think it will, but that division's ridiculous. You're watching Russell Wilson and Stafford and Kyler Murray every weekend. And if Trey looks like a notch below, San Francisco might start sweating things. Remember, Kyle Shanahan doesn't have a winning record without Garoppolo. He wants to win games.

But when I look at these situations, we're looking for absolutes. And the more talented you are, I don't care if you're an entertainer, a musician, a real estate agent, an attorney. the more talented you are, what the media is seeking, you shouldn't give them an absolute. Keep your options open. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news.

Well, the Bengals did not win a Super Bowl this season, but the franchise did take a big step forward for a Super Bowl in 33 years appearance. And safety, Jesse Bates, is expecting this level of success to be the new standard in Cincinnati. This group was special, but, you know, next year it's going to look different. But our standard is our standard. I think we set a standard here in Cincinnati that's going to continue for a long time. And, you know, even the guys that's not going to be here, that standard that we built this year was something special. Like I said, the last time the Bengals made the Super Bowl was the 1988 season. Remember it, yeah?

I don't. I was one. They made the playoffs nine times. since then and have four wins. Three of them were this season. Well, Marvin Lewis and Andy Dalton had several years back to back where they were very good. Yeah, they were playoff teams. Didn't win any games, but they were in the playoffs. You know, I do agree with him, though. I don't know that you're going to or you should expect to go to the Super Bowl every single year. I think fans need to have better perspective, although that's like wishful thinking.

Fans, you know, want a dream of the Super Bowl every single year. But I talk about the Steelers this way. Like this, if you don't get to the Super Bowl, win a Super Bowl, it's a failed season in Pittsburgh, and that's because that's what fans have grown to expect there. So when you do this in Cincinnati, when you make the Super Bowl this early in a very young quarterback's career, you're going to expect to get back there. But I actually think that's a good thing for Cincinnati. I think you should hold the franchise, not just the players, to the standard of let's get back to a Super Bowl. And that's what changes organizations. The Saints were terrible for a long time. And they came in, got you Breeze got Sean Payton. Now they are an organization that we consider to be very well functioning

and has standards. Yeah. I think you said this as somebody that was there. I just think Burrow is so gifted. Yeah. And I just think they'll be good. Like I just think there are certain time, generally speaking, how do you change a culture? Something great happens. Sean Payton's an all-time coach and Drew Breeze, an all-time quarterback. It's not like it's osmosis or it's magical. So we don't know if Zach Taylor's a great coach, but Joe Burroughs pretty remarkable. That's what you need. I remember for years and years, the Red Sox had really good teams. They could not break through.

I mean, they had teams that often were better than the Yankees and they couldn't break through. And then they got Manny and then they got Kurt Schilling. And then you're like, okay, shilling is as good a playoff pitcher as a sport had for a long time. And Manny was crazy and was, you know, peeing in the outfield wall. But doing stuff you couldn't do, you couldn't get him out. It does take Kurt Warner did this to Arizona. He literally changed the culture. You can do everything right in this league.

If you don't get the coaching quarterback right in this league, it's hard to break through that wall. You have to get the guy. You got to get the guy. And that's not just limited to the NFL. I mean, look at Cleveland. You got LeBron? I mean, we still think of Cleveland as a little dysfunctional.

But you need someone that's going to be the catalyst for that change. But I think that the fans need to hold the organization as responsible as they do. Joe Burrow and his level of talent. You need to go and get him an offensive line. You lost a Super Bowl because you didn't have an offensive line. We talked about this yesterday. Yes, you got to March Ace, who's been absolutely incredible, but you don't have an offensive line.

You know what's great about having a great quarterback? It creates clarity. So, like, let's say Burrow was 16th best quarterback in the league, 18th. You'd still have questions this morning. Is it the O line or is the quarterback? No, girl. Like, is it the running game? Burrough creates absolute clarity.

It's like, oh, if we had a better offensive line with the best team in the league, we would have won the Super Bowl. Yeah, if you don't give up seven sacks in the Super Bowl. And 70 for the year. So what, like Andrew Luck told you, oh, the offensive line is absolutely egregiously bad. They could never fix it. So that's the key to the quarterback. You can get the offensive line right, like with the Dallas Cowboys,

and we still argue for years if Dax the guy. Yeah. But once the quarterback's right, you're like, yeah, that's like Justin Herbert right now, they should win more. The Chargers should be a playoff team. Now we've got a coach issue potentially. We got a defensive issue. When the talent level at that position is so obvious,

that's when fans need to hold the rest of the team and the organization accountable for what they put around him because you have that guy, which is very hard to do. So the Rams are still celebrating their Super Bowl, 56 victory, but early odds are already out for next year's Super Bowl. Did you see these odds? I did. Joy, okay, Joy, Find the team that doesn't belong.

How the hell are the Cowboys? I know. We do this every year with the Cowboys. No disrespect to Cowboys fans, but I said this a few weeks ago. I'm not believing it with the Cowboys anymore. No, I saw this. I will believe it when I see it.

Matthew Stafford wasn't a post-season quarterback. Now he is. I am not giving the Cowboys. The Cowboys have three playoff wins in 25 years. No, you're going to have to prove it to me. You know what the Cowboys are? The Cowboys are the guy in the family. Everybody's got this.

You know what? He's a good person and he's smart, but he can't keep a job. Yeah. And then he gets a new job, and it's his seventh one in three years. And you want me to believe he's going to keep it for years and become the CEO. Now, at some point... Yeah, but he's like the best-looking one in the family and super dynamic and like eats nothing but hamburgers every day and has a six-pack.

He's that guy, but just can't keep a job. So it's like at this point, Cowboys... The fact that year three or four is ridiculous. First thing I saw, I thought, come on, they're just doing that to get people to bet. Nobody's doing that, believes that. That's a sucker bet right now. Well, the Chiefs are favorite, number one, plus 650, bills plus 750, Rams plus 1, Cowboys plus 1,300, and the Bengals plus 1,400 to win the Super Bowl next year.

If I had to put my money anywhere, I probably would go with the favorite Chiefs. But, yeah, I agree with you on the Cowboys. It's ridiculous. I mean, they don't win. They have great regular seasons and they don't win in the playoffs. So Russell Wilson and the Seahawks will be the subject of trade rumors once again this offseason. Like last year, there were reports that Wilson wants to explore his options outside of Seattle. But he hasn't demanded a trade and the Seahawks reportedly have no desire to trade him.

I wouldn't either if I was Seattle. Keep in mind, again, last year they were 12 and 4. They were 6 and 8 this year, but it was a down year. Yeah. This was first losing season with the Seahawks. That was your theory that we're overreacting. Everybody gets a bad year. All right.

You should be allowed to have a down season. He also got injured. Yeah. He signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension that runs to the 2023 season that made him the highest played NFL player at the time. And his cap hit next year will be the six highest at $37 million. Again, I'm not trading Russell Wilson unless he makes me. It's just that we'll fix the rest of the team.

You have a Hall of Famer in the building, still in his prime. How are you going to do better than that? You could do a whole lot worse than Russell. Wilson and even an unhappy, expensive Russell Wilson. You got to figure it out if you're Seattle. Now, this might not be necessarily up to them if he really, truly wants out. But again, with the quarterback situation this off season, the first domino that has to fall is Aaron Rogers. Like everyone's kind of on Aaron Rogers watch right now. You have Russell Wilson as a possible moving piece, Jimmy Garapolo. All of that has to wait until Aaron Rogers makes his decision

because all these other teams then have to set up their trade and see what else is out there. Good stuff. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. You know, I saw I had Mark Schlerath on today. Let's bring him on live. Mark Schler, Super Bowl champ multiple times, three times, Fox Sports Analyst.

So I was watching Aaron Donald. Who was the best? Now, how much did you weigh? I've seen your driver's license. You were a big old boy. How much did you weigh when you were Pro Bowl in it? 320? No, no, I wasn't that heavy.

I was always around 290. Okay. And Aaron Donald, I don't. know what he is, about $290, $2.95. Who was the greatest defensive lineman you ever faced? And what did he do to you that, that, that, because nobody was pushing you around when you were in Idaho or in high school and most of your NFL career. But did you ever face Reggie White occasionally?

Oh, yeah. Absolutely. What was that like? Frightening. It was, it was frightening. Yeah, I mean, I think that people get this misnomer that, you know, that size, is the end-all-be-all. It's really, Aaron Donald's a small guy. Aaron Donald's 280 pounds. He's about six foot, six-foot one. It's leverage. And leverage is created from the ground up. Leverage is

created from footwork, you know, feet over ankles, over knees, over hips, and your ability to strike a guy from a low to high plane. That's really where leverage is created. I always used to find it fascinating when offensive line coaches would like, hey man, you got to stay lower. Oh, no, really? Really? Why? Because I'm getting impaled and shoved back into the quarterback. Yeah, I get that. How do I stay lower? Because if two guys are six foot four, each are coming off the ball and hit each other in the head, then one guy is in a foot lower than the other guy. The leverage is from the ground up and then creating this upward motion. That's how leverage is created. And there's nobody better in football than Aaron Donald at creating leverage

from a low to high plane. That's what makes him so just incredibly explosive. So he's a dude that you have to contend with, and he's a guy that you better have a game plan for. And even when you have a game plan for him, he can still recalve it like he did in the second half of that game. You know, it's interesting. Tampa last year paid everybody.

Everybody got a ring. Everybody got paid. Philadelphia Eagles after their Super Bowl. Brought back 17 starters. everybody's getting a car deal, getting paid, got a book deal. And in both instances, the following year did not end the way they wanted to. Brady made hints post- Thanksgiving. It was loose.

People weren't focused. So my feeling with the Rams is they won't suffer with that because it's a very transactional organization. And they're just not going to bring everybody back. That's it. They're going to try to get McVeigh back, Aaron Donald back, and working on Matt Stafford Extension. And after that, like OBJ, Sony Michelle, I think they'd probably move up.

Miller, I think they'd like to bring back. But you've been in these Super Bowl teams. There's always a sense of let's reward the guys. But boy, I watched Tampa and Philly do it, Mark. And there was a clear apathy that everybody, you know, it's just human nature. I'd be the same way. Go back to your Super Bowls. How do you keep that fire, that urgency, that little bit of fear that if I don't play

well, I'm out of work. Yeah, I think that's, I think it's tough. It's tough not to be sated by success. When you have success, a lot of teams and a lot of players, you know, they're looking for, you know, become social media stars. Or they're looking for, you know, big endorsement deals. They're looking, you know, they're on the rubber chicken circuit, so to speak. And it's hard to really be a focused football team. I think one of the things for us, when I, you know, when I was a member of the Broncos who won back-to-back championships,

we really feel like we should have been three-time champions. In 1996, we were 13 and 3, the number one seat. and we got bounced out of the playoffs by Jacksonville. And that was such a painful game, such a painful memory for us, that there wasn't a day that went by when things weren't great in practice or when things weren't great in games,

that we weren't saying in the midst of the game, in the midst of the huddle, like, hey, man, don't let Jacksonville happen again. Don't let that happen to you again. So there was this constant motivating factor. There was this constant, just like wanting to strive for greatness. that permeated that organization that we didn't become satisfied,

that there was none, that we weren't stated by success. We were so driven by failure that the success part wasn't, it didn't taste nearly as sweet as it probably should have. But I think it's one of the things that you have to fight against, and it's really, it's easy to talk about really hard to do, Colin. You know, I was thinking about the Denver Broncos, because I think everybody on this show, certainly, we kind of feel like they're the Tampa a couple years before Tom got there.

They're ready to win a Super Bowl. They just need the dude. They got players everywhere, especially on offense. Great corners, pass rusher, great young safety. And it's funny. I said this yesterday. I think it was yesterday, Joyer, it could have been Friday. The Packers do not talk.

They're like New England. They don't talk publicly about contracts. They're very covert. They draft. They develop. They're humble. Now, Aaron, Aaron goes public a lot. That's fine.

You have a right to do that. I got no problem. That's who Aaron is. But Green Bay doesn't. And yet. They have made an effort in the last two weeks. Oh, my God. We love Aaron.

They're leaking stuff to Schefter. And that's Adam's job. I'm not, but a lot of stuff is going public. And I theorized, I think it was yesterday with Joy, they're doing that. So if Aaron leaves, the fan base can't crush them for not loving Aaron. Because the fans would crush them. You drafted Jordan Love. You didn't call Aaron Rogers.

you guys are, my feeling is like, is Green Bay preparing for Aaron's departure? What do you make of it? Yeah. There's only one reason you negotiate in public, and that's to besmirch the player. That's the only reason that you lay stuff out there. You're greasing the skids for the departure of Aaron Rogers. Do you want them back? Absolutely you want them back.

Is Green Bay probably the best place for? for Aaron Rogers to continue his career and have a chance to win a championship? Yeah, look at the rest of the division. Of course it is. All those things are true. But at the same time, you know, at the same time, do you feel like you've repaired the relationship? Absolutely. But what you're trying to do is say, hey, salary cap-wise, we're a mess.

Aaron Rogers has the right to leave. He can hold his hostage. He can force us to trade him. So what we have to do is make sure that you as a fan base know how much we love. the guy and how hard we've worked to retain the guy. And if he leaves, it's because he wants to leave, not because we didn't want to keep him. I think it's the same thing that's going on in Arizona right now. Like I think the whole Arizona thing with Kyler Murray is, Kyler Murray wants a new contract. Kyler Murray just finished his third year. He wants a new big time deal. He's seen

Josh Allen get a big time deal. He's seen that Prescott get a big time deal. He saw Mahom get a big time deal. He's increased the win level of that organization every single year, last year. They're the first to 10. And then what? All of a sudden, he wants a deal. And the organization is like, well, we're not sure. You know, you were hurt. We didn't finish the season very strong. We were the first to 10. We were talking about potential MVP. You didn't finish strong. You didn't play very well. And so now what are we saying? Well, you know, maybe he's the first guy. He's the, the first guy out, the last guy in, not work ethic is the question. maybe is not mature as he should be, you know, that to me is to say,

here are the reasons we're not thinking about redoing a contract right now. And like that's when it gets contentious. And that doesn't come from the player. Obviously, those things come from the organization. That's just speculation on my behalf. But it's coming from somewhere, right? Somebody's getting a message out there. Why is the message getting out there?

Well, we want to make sure that you guys know as a fan base, it's not us. It's him. Right. That's what you do. Yeah. Mark Slareth, are you working on your yard today at all, Mark? No, it's a beautiful. I think we're going to get some snow here, though, later on today, maybe tomorrow.

So no yard work now. Like, I'm in the shoveling mode right now, Colin. I love to shovel. I have a snowblower, but I still shovel everybody's driveway in the cul-de-sac. I'm a big, I'm a physical labor guy because I'm not that bright. So I like the physical labor stuff. Joey and I are just shaking our head. Not interested at all in that.

A lot of people rooted against the pay. Patriots for years. But that doesn't mean all favorites are villains. We liked Michael Jordan winning. Kobe and Shaq was fun. The ratings were great. People don't have anything against the Rams,

right? Like, I mean, they don't have any Super Bowls. They don't have a bunch of cocky guys. Like, we said this last week. There were no villains. It was a Super Bowl without villains. It didn't hurt the ratings. But we had, we joked about this. Last week, Mike, ratings on both radio and TV were lower than many other NFL weeks in the regular season. Why? Because those weeks have villains. This week had no villains. It was just like two teams everybody liked.

But if you noticed the reaction from fans, media players on that Logan Wilson call against the Rams. But yet there's been almost no discussion on the Logan Wilson call, which, by the way, it did not change the score. It was only third down. They had another down. After that play, the Bengals were called for two penalties after that play. They got very clutchy, very grabby because the Rams went to tempo. The Bengals were gassed. It was a 15-play drive.

They were gassed. They were grabby and clutchy. And they saw the Super Bowl moving away from them. But it didn't change the score. It didn't even change momentum. The Rams were driving. At worst, they could have kicked a field goal, kicked off, called three straight timeouts. They could have had that option.

They wouldn't have used it, but they could have to try to get the ball back. And there's a lot of contact on this play. And Cooper Cubs is an MVP star in the league. You know how officials, latent games with stars, are going to watch them more closely. But yet there's no discussion, none of the past interference call. So that Bengals could not sustain drives the entire game. They're buried deep into their territory. There's a clear pass interference on the Bengal wide receiver.

It changes the score of the game. It's a 75-yard-free touchdown for a team that would have been called for a penalty, backed up deep into their territory, punted and given the Rams great field position, already leading the game. This game changed the momentum. It changed the score. It was a big, bad. big, bad whiff understood, but were worked up over Logan Wilson on a third down, who's clutchy and grabby.

The Bengals were called for back-to-back penalties after that play. They were gassed. Rams went to tempo. They were gassed. And by the way, I said it on Twitter, I'd have grabbed two. This is the season. I'd have grabbed two. That's what they were doing down there.

So, well, the refs didn't call it the whole game. Well, the refs should have called maybe both those penalties. But the idea that Logan Wilson's the call there's out egregious, and the other one's not, the other one changed the score. And one team, the Rams were moving the ball. They moved it early. They moved it late. Bengals didn't move the ball the whole day. They didn't have a normal touchdown.

They had that one and a half-back pass. Their line got blown up for the entire day. You take that play out of the game. The Bengals, like, had 120 yards passing with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins and Bulls. Boyd and Joe Burrow. And so I think some of this is, so why? Well, we don't hate the Rams. Nobody hates the Rams.

So why would everybody be so outraged? Number one, maybe it's Jalen Ramsey. He's like the only Rams player with a big personality. Maybe there's some people that don't like him. But is it like jealousy of L.A.? Lakers won, Dodgers won, Rams won, wealthy, gorgeous stadium. I'm sitting there this morning, I'm like, it's not like the Rams are hateable.

It was a really bad call. The Rams were the better team. Their stars are... I mean, Aaron Donald, Cooper Cup, Stafford, like the most likable guys in the league. They're like Mahomes and Travis Kelsey. Who doesn't like them outside of the people that are getting throttled by them? But I saw a Packer linebacker went on social media.

He's like, Devonre Campbell's just, this is an outrageous call. This is an atrocious penalty. Didn't change the score. It didn't change moment. It was third down. Some of this is, let's be honest about it. Little L.A. hate. Can't be the Rams because nobody hates the Rams.

They're really, I mean, outside of Niners fans, I don't even think Seattle hates the Rams. Like, they're stealing our coaches. I mean, hate, like, the Rams don't really, I don't think they have enough of a foothold in the city yet to be villains. I get hating the Lakers. They stole your best player. I get hating USC.

Well, also, like, the Lakers have been Dynasty and have had huge personalities and have been here in Los Angeles for forever. I'm just sitting here looking at this and I'm like, so you're not paying attention to a 75-yard touchdown gift and you're worked up on a third down holding. Well, when it happens in the game also matters as well. Like there can be miscalls throughout the game

that you're not going to be as outraged over as the end of the game. So when it happened in the game changes how intense people are going to react to it because it's going to feel like, you know, oh, if this hadn't happened, then it would change the outcome of the game. Well, yes, to your point, if they had made that call on Jaylen Ramsey, earlier in the game, it would have changed the outcome of the game probably as well. But we focus on the end of the game. And also, you know, because there wasn't a villain, you got to pick aside.

And generally the public is going to go with the scrappy underdog, which, you know, the Bengals were. All right, that explains it. I just don't get the reaction. We got to get into the psychology of it. To me, that's what it is. When it happened in the game is going to always, because we say that, all the time. Like, all right, yes. Like, they lost

in the end of the game. It was this play. Like, it's not on one player making one mistake. Like, what about all these other mistakes that you did throughout the game? Well, one feels like a fender bender. One feels like a car wreck. Like a 75-yard free touchdown by an official is a car wreck. Right. But when it happened in the game is going to change how people react to it. Because they're going to

feel like you have more time. To overcome. Yeah, to overcome that. All right. You just explained it. I'm going to do the blind resume game coming up next, which is one of my favorite games where we put a quarterback. The Carson Wentz stuff is fascinating. The idea that Carson Wentz,

the cults are just going to cut him. Folks, it makes no sense. It makes absolutely no sense. And I would admit, I didn't like the fact that he was unvaxed. I thought it was selfish. And I didn't like the way he played at the end of the year. Blind resume game.
