This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Join us as we tackle science and culture topics from a galaxy far, far away,
such as the biology of tauntons and wampas on the ice planet hot,
or the practicality and corporate business sense of the Sith rule.

We're here.
We made it.
In for Colin Cowherd on the Herd.
Oh, oh, oh.
I've been here.
You've been here.
You're flying by the seat of your pants here.
It's the CNR show.
In for Colin on the herd.
I'm Steve Covino.
That is Rich Davis.
Thank you guys for hanging out with us.
It's a pleasure.
Always a pleasure.
The most interactive, most inclusive show on radio, according to us.
Begin.
So, call in 818, 907,00062.
And at Covino Enrich,
at Fox Sports.
radio, so we have lots to get to.
We're going to throw it back on this Thursday.
It's already Thursday's the new Friday, so the weekend begins today.
We're going to talk about your missed moments in sports.
Maybe you had a ticket, maybe he decided not to go.
Maybe it was a superstar in your town, and you missed it along the way.
You blow it.
Again, old school when 50 hits on the clock, when 50 hits in life, we throw it back again.
We talk about the worst rip-offs, the poor man's blank.
Oh, the Wish versions.
Yes, the T-Moo versions of Blank.
But Rich, I want to say again, good day and good morning.
We're live in L.A.
And I want to start the show by saying, well, welcome to the studio.
Dude, it was one of those mornings.
No one wants to hear someone else talk about traffic, so I'll spare you.
But L.A. traffic is no joke.
People talk about it.
They don't live here.
Yeah, you know what they do, they prepare for it.
But when you're thrown off into a different schedule, you don't keep it
mind sometimes. Rich isn't normally driving
on the 101 at this time to make it to the herd.
Ryan, who works with the herd every day.
Ryan, usually when we do our afternoon show,
15 to 20 minutes from my house to the Fox Sports Radio
Studio. Today, I drop my daughter off 7.45. I'm like,
hey, maybe I'll stop and get a cup of coffee, head over there.
Put in the ways. I haven't tried Google Maps. I'm like, this must be wrong.
There's no way it's going to take an hour and 20 minutes to get here.
hour 20
and I pulled
a real a hole move
I drove on the shoulder
of the road for like a half a mile
just to get to the Fox Sports Radio exit
I'm like if I get pulled over
what am I going to say
officer I'm filling in for Colin Coward
he's like yeah yeah whatever
I hate that guy
extra ticket for you
I will say if you don't pull the shoulder move
you would have been late
and not made the start of the show
you know what Ryan so if you get pulled over
it doesn't really matter
You had only everything to gain.
Yes.
He would have ended up at the same result.
I think you not done it.
He did what he was supposed to do.
Look, we work in radio, and that's one of the golden rules.
You're not late for radio.
Consider us a little old school.
You know how weaniels just show up and want to leave whenever they want?
That's not how radio works.
Like that girl that's been viral on TikTok and Instagram this week,
complaining that I have to work 40 hours a week Monday through Friday?
What?
Yeah, exactly.
We're a little old school.
Listen, never late for a radio show.
This is as close as I may have ever cut it.
And listen.
And when Rich just cut it, he means the cheese.
He had the nervous farts, the whole ride here in hopes to make it on time.
Let me tell you.
We're going to get to all your NFL and NBA.
We're going to get to all the sports, filling in for Colin.
But if you don't know, Kavino and Rich, hey, nice to meet you.
We're from the East Coast originally.
And I have one quick 30-second story.
Won't take up your time.
We'll get into it.
But when I lived in New York,
I worked at a pop radio station, Z-100, big I-heart station.
And I was in my early 20s.
So I was just lucky enough to be working there on the air.
And if you know New York City, the tunnels are trash.
Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel.
There was construction by a tunnel, and I was about to be late for a radio shift.
And I was like 22.
I'm like, I'm going to get fired.
I cut around all these construction cones and got stopped by a cop.
no joke
I cried
I was like I'm gonna lose my job
I'm in my early 20s and I blew it
I blew this opportunity
and the cop NYPD
Port Authority police looks at me and goes
you're effing pathetic
just go wow you must have been showing a lot
of leg that day or cleavage
I don't know what was going on I can't believe they let you off
like that little nip poke out you were wearing your John Stockton shorts
or something but hey welcome thanks for
dealing with us for the first 10 minutes
five minutes. Let's get into it.
Yeah, let me give you a little recap on something we discussed yesterday,
filling in for the great Dan Patrick show.
Consider us fill in Frank this week.
Normally we're on 2 to 4 on the West Side, 5 to 7,
Monday through Friday here on Fox Sports Radio.
So definitely join us and check out our podcast to search Kavino and Rich.
But this week, crazy week, I guess.
So filling in for Dan Patrick, which means it throws off our whole schedule.
Now, let's make it very clear.
Not complaining, just explaining.
When you gotta do Dan Patrick's show,
you gotta wake up at like 4.30 in the morning.
Yeah.
And we're just not used to that because we're on in the afternoon.
But again, it's always fun.
It's always a pleasure to talk to new people
and fill in and do our thing.
So when your schedule is thrown off like that,
sometimes you like to go home and take a nap.
A little nappy nap.
You're throwing off the rest of the day.
you're sort of tired the rest of the day because, well, you couldn't fall asleep early the night before.
And that's what happens.
So my sister's in town.
Get this.
My sister's in town from the East Coast.
She's rarely ever out here on the West Coast visiting.
And she brought her little daughter.
And, you know, my other sister was here with her kids.
And, of course, I got a teenage daughter.
And they were all going to Disney World.
I'm sorry, Disneyland.
Yeah, get your Disney, right?
Disneyland.
yesterday because again here visiting and I was debating on the Dan Patrick show yesterday
sort of a life conundrum a sort of life work balance pickle that everybody deals with right you
got to find that balance and I was saying look my sisters are taking my daughter to Disneyland
today and everyone's going to Disneyland but do I go after the show or do I just stay at home and
relax and prepare for the herd and just call it a day.
And so many people chimed in and called.
And I got to tell you, it was a really cool conversation because I was surprised to see the
feedback.
And I'll tell you, my daughter did say, Dad, I'd love for you to come so we could go on
the roller coasters together.
And she's at that age where how many years left do I really have for my 14-year-old
daughter to want to hang with her dad at all?
I'm surprised she still wants to hang with her dad at all.
Exactly. You know, when I was 14, I did not want to hang my parents. I wanted to hang with my girlfriend.
So she's like, Dad, if you could come and I'm thinking, but yeah, I could just chill out after the Dan Patrick show, kick my feet up and just enjoy the rest of my day.
While my sisters and my daughter, they all have a great day in Disneyland.
I saw Big Mike who runs this place, right? You know Big Mike who runs this place.
He said, he's one of the big mics. Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson.
Jackson, Michael Jordan, and Big Mike that runs this.
Yeah, yeah.
He says, man, let me tell you.
He's like, if I could go back in time and do that with my daughter
because she's all grown up now, I would do it in a heartbeat.
He gave you that routine.
He gave me that guilt trip.
Is he a TikTok video?
Your kids are only...
And then I went to Twitter and I saw the feedback from Fox Sports Radio Nation
and all the Dan Patrick listeners and everybody listens to the herd.
And they were like, yo, dude, you got to go.
Suck it up.
You know, the kids are only there.
and they're only little once.
Go there, meet them at Disneyland.
But I was thinking by the time I get there,
park and everything else,
spend $300 on tickets,
they're going to be ready to go home
and I wasted all my money.
The long short of it, Rich,
is I decided to go.
I took your advice, Fox Sports Radio Nation,
Big Mike's guilt trip.
And I had my daughter's voice in my ear.
Dad, just come.
We'll go on the Incredit coaster.
I drove there,
and I drove there, and I,
I met my family, and we had a blast.
See?
And it was awesome.
I told you.
It's the old lazy guy routine versus being a yes man.
It happens all the time with tickets, too.
Like, hey, I got an extra ticket to the Lakers game.
Or, hey, you're down for Dodgers Giants Tuesday night?
And when your buddy presents you with those scenarios, it goes through your head.
Do I want to be the guy that says yes?
and yeah, it gets in your car, gets in traffic, goes to the game.
What do you say?
I think I'm just going to sit in my ass at home.
Well, I'm glad he said that because that's exactly where I was going with this.
That's my personal update from yesterday.
We went on every roller coaster.
You know, I was fun uncle Steve.
I was the funcle yesterday.
My daughter was having a blast.
Situations were perfect.
You know, when you want things to go well, sometimes the kids are in a bad mood.
They start having a tantrum.
You know, maybe there's a long.
line or the Indiana Jones ride breaks down.
Something goes wrong.
It starts to rain.
Everything was fantastic.
And I was so glad I decided to go and I was there all night, had a blast.
But it is about saying yes.
How many times is your buddy reach out on a random Wednesday?
He's like, yo, dude, you want to go to the Kings game?
Hey, man, you want to go to the athletics game tonight?
And you're like, you're thinking, no, no one says that.
No one says you want to go to the athletics game today.
Well, I'm trying to downplay the.
No one.
I'm trying to downplay the offer.
I don't know.
And you're thinking, not really, man.
I think the offer would be like, could I pay you to come to the A's game?
It's like, you're thinking, I was sort of hoping to catch up on love is blind tonight and be late.
It's so easy to be lazy and I'm great at being lazy, guys.
I really am and I want to be lazy.
But I said yes, and it made all the difference.
So the point here in bringing this up was not only to give you the recap and to let you know how it went.
But to also remind you, the next time your buddy does hit you,
up with that concert ticket or that ball game or you know what happens to me i'm not that big of a hockey
fan a buddy will reach out and he'll say dude you want to go and the first instinct i have is not really
maybe moving forward based on the story this reminder this lesson you do say yes and on the flip
side of it hadn't i gotten that nudge rich the nudge from big mike the nudge from all the tweets
the listeners of Fox Sports Radio that said,
dude, your kid and your nieces and nephew,
they're only young once, your sisters in town, go.
Hadn't my daughter said,
Dad, please just come, we'll have fun.
I probably wouldn't have.
So I think if you have a reluctant friend,
that little nudge, I'm not saying pressure.
Pressure is the weakest.
But that little nudge sometimes is what people need.
So the reminder here based on my story,
Sometimes you got to give a nudge
And on the flip side
Be willing to say yes
There's always more opportunity in being the yes man
Yeah
You never know what you're going to meet
You never know what you're going to see
I had a buddy who has the classic story of
Missed a great game
Because he was just being a lazy ass
Back in the day
I was in high school
My buddy's dad
Said
I got tickets to the Yankees game
Do you want to go
My buddy a mess fan
Said
Nah
Yeah but Doc Gooden's pitching
I still don't want to go
he didn't go
turns on the game at home because he hears
ooh good and's throwing a no hitter
he missed a no hitter
just sitting on his butt at home doing nothing
because it's so
easy to say no
how many times did you go out reluctantly
with your friend like dude let's go to the bar come on
watch a game have like one drink
and you're like fine and that night
you end up meeting like some hot girl
get a little action that you would never
have gotten
had you said no.
Guess what you're never going to do?
If you sit at home
and opt with that...
Which, by the way, I'm great at.
Which is what a lot of people opt to do.
Which, by the way, is my goal every day.
But that's like the lazy man mentality.
Ask me what I want to do right after the hurt today.
Go home. I know the answer.
You're going to sit there.
You're going to lay around.
You're going to eat a sleeve of thin mince.
I love...
But who doesn't love that, right?
You look forward to that.
But you're never going to see that great moment in sports.
You're never going to see that concert that
who knows if that person ever performs again.
You might...
Well, save that thought because we're going to talk about missed moments in sports in a few minutes.
You might miss out on, honestly, just meeting a good woman.
Think about that.
Yeah, you never know who you're going to meet.
Think of how many times.
And it's also a reminder that I think our natural default as people.
More so than ever.
Is to say no.
You know what?
At the workplace, in relationships, think about the workplace.
If you're trying to get something done at work, right?
Hey, I'm just trying to.
trying to get this purchase sort of signed off on because we need more supplies to get something done
here.
The natural default is no, right?
Because it's easier to say no because that person's lazy and they just don't want to go
through the rigmarole of getting it done.
A lot of times, that's where the nuts comes into place.
At any workplace, a lot of times the answer is no because the answer is really not no,
but you're right.
No because it requires more work.
Yes, it requires.
someone actually, you know, doing their job
or doing a little extra or investigating it.
Yes, always requires a little more effort.
But the payoff.
The payoff could mean the world.
And I'll tell you what, my daughter
will never forget
when dad came and just turned the whole day around.
We had so much fun. We went on every roller co-coast.
Because guess what? She wasn't going on the fun roller coasters
with her little nieces and nephews.
But when I came there, saved the day.
Stevie Fun Time.
And I ended up, by the way, I ended up spending like at least
five, six hundred dollars. It's not cheap.
Such as the cost of life. I'm just
saying, I could have saved that had I stayed home.
You know what? How many times have you heard a buddy
or some randow person
you meet? You ask
them, hey, how'd you meet your
significant other? How many times
does the story start out with
a girl or a guy saying
like, you know, I didn't even want to go
to the club that night, but my friend like
nudged me. And I met
Johnny. That's how I
met her. It's usually some ridiculous.
list like I wasn't planning on going
because think about it. In every group of friends
there's always one guy
that's good at pushing things along
like come on dude I got the tickets for the game
or the concert and everyone else is a lazy
slug. Every time someone's trying to plan
a night out let's all go to the bar, guys night
steak dinner, there's always one person
that has to nudge people like you.
Yes, yes. So some people need
to nudge and be willing to say yes.
And I saw an article that goes along with this.
I'm not going to find it because that's
how life is. You've seen an article when you're trying
find it a second time it's never there it's like that
photo in your phone
you see it all the time but when
you're looking for it good luck
when you're trying to show a person a photo
you can never find it never
oh it's funny you would say that let me let me show you a picture
you're like where is this damn picture
but it
it is true I saw an article
I'll never find again that since
COVID remember that four years ago that whole thing
why'd you have to even bring that up since then
I think it was adults
age 30
like an up, go out and interact in person, 40% less.
Like some absurd amount of like, they just sit on at home.
The last little caveat to this discussion, aside from saying yes to the game, yes to the
concert, yes to this family fun time is a question about adults.
And that is, how do you feel about Disney adults?
Just to wrap this out.
Because I'm there again with my two little nieces, my nephew, my sisters, and my teenage
daughter, okay? I can't tell you how many adults I saw and I'm looking around. I'm like,
where's their kids? It's adults with their stupid ears on. I'm like, are they here with kids?
I'm like, if you're going to Disneyland, look, I get it every once in a while, but I feel like it's
more of a phenomenon, like a culture shift where adults just want to put ears on and act like
they're four years old again. To me, that's second to going to a kid's movie without a kid.
I know you want to watch the movie, but bring your nose-picking nephew if you're going.
I don't get that.
Your thoughts on Disney adults.
It's like a weird movement or something.
There's far too many.
Hey, if you want to chime in, 818-907-00-62.
Try to go on the teacups and I'm sitting behind two adults in line.
Ryan, do you have any instinct on Disney adults?
Are you a Disney adult?
I am not a Disney adult.
I would say I am very much with Kavina.
I don't get it.
But Ryan, I'm not saying you can't go, right?
But I'm saying, I feel like it's a culture shift where it's a thing.
Oh, it's a hundred percent.
It is a hundred percent a thing.
Right.
Exactly what you're talking about.
But you're weirdos.
And I don't get it.
Thank you.
Listen.
Thanks for hearing me.
I have 100%.
I think there's one rub.
There's one little caveat, one exception.
Now, we live out here in Southern California.
I grew up in the York.
When I grew up on the East Coast, if you went to Disney, that was like the once-in-a-lifetime
family trip where mom and dad saved their money.
we live in Southern California
So if you're dating someone and you do a little afternoon day trip with a girl
Down to Disney
I don't think that's a crime
I don't think adults should get on a plane
To go to Disney without kids
You know what? Okay, that is so fair
If you live in Orange County and you're like
Disney's 20 minutes away
Hey I'm going to an Angels game on this Disney
I'll let me go to downtown Disney
There's no crime in that
But if you're like honey where do you want to go
Aruba no no Kaobo
No no Hawaii
No, Disney
Weirdos.
Just an observation that I made.
And here's another one, Ryan, too, before we move on
against some other stuff again. Missed moments
and sports coming up.
But it is a magical
place, right? Had a magical day.
That's their intention.
That's what they say.
Magic. Can people dress
appropriate at a theme park where there's children?
A lot of cheeks hanging out. A lot of cheeks hanging out for Disney.
What is the deal?
And let's be honest.
I'm not complaining.
Sometimes I'm an adult, not cheeks you want to see, too.
Yeah, it's like, whoa.
Yo, what are they wearing?
Is there no dress code?
Is Disneyland?
If you want to feel good about your own physique, go to a water park.
I mean, no.
Look, I get it.
But at a water park, you're expected to wear a bathing suit or a bikini or something like that.
You got to see the outfits that, I'll just say people were wearing in Disneyland,
completely inappropriate when children are around.
Just, again, observations, aside from that.
Fantastic day because I said yes
Glad you had fun
Thank you
That is Kavino I'm Rich
Kavino and Rich
In for Colin
On the Herd
Now coming up
We are going to talk about
missed opportunities in sports
I do want to talk some NFL
Because even when it's not the NFL
season it's still
The priority
Like Super Bowl was less than two weeks ago
And we're already talking about
What team should be excited
About 2024
So we'll get to all that
That's because everybody has
The post Super Bowl blues
That's why
I know there's only so much
Love is Blind I can watch
Exactly.
All right. We have more coming up next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio,
FS1 and the IHeart Radio app.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.
A win is a win.
I don't care what you're saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,
or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement
to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw,
unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite
athletes, creators, and voices that
not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
One week, I'll take you behind the scenes
of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment.
And the next, we'll talk about life,
mental health, purpose, and even music.
The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast.
It's a space for honest conversations,
stories that don't always get told,
and for people who are chasing something bigger.
So if you've ever supported me
or you're just chasing down a dream,
this is right where you need to be.
Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
And for more behind the scenes,
follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok.
Do you remember when Diana Ross
double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
So,
I'm finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me,
it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Now, what did we learn so far?
Be willing to say yes.
Even when your buddy, I have a buddy bad ticket, Rob.
And I usually say no, because his name is bad ticket.
Rob.
He never has good tickets.
Man, Ticket Rob hit me up recently.
You want to go to the L.A. Kings game?
Nah, not really.
You should have said yes.
No, no, no.
Moving forward.
Yo, man, I got tickets to the Kings game.
I got tickets to the L.A.F.C. game.
You know what?
Yeah.
Because you never know what you might miss.
You never know what could happen or who you might meet.
You never know.
That being said, appreciate the feedback.
We'll get to your phone calls.
But I also want to ask and post this other questions.
question before we throw it back on a Thursday old school when 50 hits I realized this week was
kirk Cobain's 57th birthday 57th birthday this week timestamp that was on the 20th right and it dawned
on me every time it's brought up because I also work in rock built a career in rock and sports
things that I love and people always say did you ever see nirvana live my answers no
You missed it.
No, because I grew up in New Jersey.
I'm from Union, New Jersey, right?
East Coast.
And what was I?
16, 17?
If they played on the East Coast maybe once,
I don't think I was getting there,
and I don't remember that ever happening
during my time when I cared about them.
And I was in on it early.
I remember buying Nevermind.
I remember the feeling of hearing it for the first time.
It changed my life for a decade.
The point is, never got to see them, okay?
legends never got to see him
so I ask you this based on
my regrets my regrets
of never seeing a band that
revolutionized music history
when we had the opportunity to
kind of because they were around
I ask you
was there a player or a moment
in sports that you feel
you missed out on
it's a good question
yeah if I said Fox Sports Radio Nation
members of the herd
rich Davis
if you can go back in time, throw it back on a Thursday to see a player or a game.
Who would it be?
If you could only pick one though, because there's so many goats and grates we never saw.
Maybe it was even before our lifetime.
Maybe we were little kids.
But if that's Muhammad Ali, I want to know it.
Or maybe, hey, dude, Mike Tyson.
But you got to pick one or one game.
I mean, I have an obvious answer.
Maybe about a decade ago, I had the instinct to say,
LeBron's playing down in Miami.
This is when, you know, he promised,
you're not one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
How many championships?
I went down to South Beach to see him play for the heat.
I thought it was a had-to-do thing.
And you know what?
That is a perfect response to the criticism he's getting this week,
especially.
We talked about it on our show during our regular time
about LeBron talking about a farewell tour.
He says he's 50-50 on that and he's getting a lot of criticism.
He's arguably the goat of all time, at least the second greatest NBA player of all time.
Whether you debate that or not, whether you think that or not.
And people think, oh, he's selfish.
It's me, Braun.
It's all about him.
But it's really about the fans.
That's the point that everybody misses when they criticize LeBron James.
It's about saying, yeah, I'm going to do the farewell tour because this is your opportunity to see one of the greats.
Don't miss the opportunity.
You could hate what he did, but you got to respect what he did for the sport.
Meaning you don't have to be a fan of him on the court.
You don't need to be a fan of the Lakers or any of his championship teams.
But you could say to your grandkids when you're feeding the ducks in the future,
yeah, well, it was his last year and he had this farewell tour and I said, I got to go.
I mean, his hair line wasn't the same.
But it was LeBron James, I tell you.
That's the beauty of the farewell tour.
It gives you the opportunity to do what so many people missed out on.
You know what I missed out on, Rich?
Seeing Michael Jordan play.
I didn't see the farewell tour.
It wasn't brought to my attention in that way.
You know, I wasn't thinking that way as a younger man, as a kid.
You have this idea that, yeah, they'll be around or you'll get there eventually.
So now's the time.
But I posed a question based on Cobain.
I never got to see Nirvana.
Of all the stupid shows I've seen and all the terrible bands I've seen,
never saw Nirvana
and in music that would be my answer
if I can go back and see one band
it'd be them
in sports I posed a question to everybody
who would you want to see
yeah or at the moment or person or play or whatever
I regret not seeing some concerts
having tickets and access
I remember passing on things where I looking back
I'm like why did I not go
Jay Z and M&M
I believe at Yankee Stadium
and I was like no I'm good
why not?
Well, again, that goes back to our previous discussion
of just saying yes.
Well, the conversation's tied again.
They're very similar.
Yeah.
I'm a big Billy Joel fan.
And he had his last play at Shea.
I'm a Mets fan.
You would think if you knew one person that would be...
You didn't go to that?
If you know one person that is,
loves the Mets, loves Billy Jol, I was like...
You didn't go to that show.
You blew it!
I know.
But you have seen him live many times.
Spud at Shea.
So that's a specific regret.
Yeah, I'm not even an older guy.
And he brought out McCartney.
And I was like, why did I not go?
But is there a specific sports moment or player that you would go?
I'm torn on that myself because I know it's odd and a weird hypothetical to say, yeah, jump into a time machine.
You could see Mickey Man will run center field at Yankee Stadium.
You know, but that is what I'm saying.
Like, what moment, what player do you wish you could have?
seen. Well, before I answer what I would want to see, you're going to see a lot of that
moving forward now with Shohei Otani, which is why Dodgers tickets are going to be astronomical.
I think even more so next year when he starts pitching again, there's going to be people that are
like, I got to take my kid to see this two-way superstar.
In fact, I...
There's so many guys adults that live with that regret of I didn't see Jordan.
By accident.
I didn't see Cobain.
By accident.
So I'm not going to let my kid not see Otani.
I'll never forget this too, Rich.
You brought up LeBron.
When my brother, my brother's younger than I, right?
When my brother was a little kid.
Did you say younger than I?
I mean, yes.
And younger than me.
Younger than Steve could be.
Younger than I.
I'm on the herd.
I feel like I got to step it up a little bit.
Make sure your grammar is on point.
My brother, he is younger than I.
He's younger than I.
Right?
So, for that we went to go to a basketball game.
I took him
court side
because no one wanted to see the Nets play at that time
so I had Nets tickets
LeBron, his rookie season
and I said to my brother
he was a little kid he was so nervous
I think he had an accident in his pants
because he was so nervous to sit courtside
I'm not even kidding you
I'm like dude what are you serious
we're at the game let it be known
Kavino's not that baller at that time because I remember
Knicks court side tickets
are like 20 grand
Nets in New Jersey
Courtside like I remember sitting in the
second row yeah with a girlfriend
And I got him for like 200 bucks
Honestly rich I think I did have second row to be quite honest
And I think I moved up because no one cared
It was the Nets in the 2000s
Yeah by all means
And it wasn't the Jason Kid Nets it was like
I was living in my mom's basement
I wasn't bawling at all
But I took my brother and I'll never forget
Because I made such an impactful sort of point in his face
And I said
This is LeBron James
he's going to be one of the greatest of all time.
Remember I took you to see this guy.
Remember this.
Dude, he's 30-something years old now.
He remembers it till this day.
Like, I saw LeBron his rookie season.
I'll never forget it.
I was a little kid.
It meant so much.
So again, those missed opportunities,
those missed moments in sports.
Who are they?
What are they?
Let's go.
Let's get involved.
818-90-0-0-60-6-2.
Is there one?
Is there one moment that you wish you could have seen?
it's so hard for me to even answer, Rich, in sports,
because there's so many moments you wish you could have been there for,
or players you wish you could have,
you could say you saw live.
In music, it's one simple answer for me.
It really is.
In sports, I don't know.
I mean, I could give you some,
but I really haven't decided on what that moment or athlete or a game was.
The cliche, automatic eye-rolling answer is Michael Jordan.
And you don't want to have a Michael Jordan conversation every day.
Hey, did you see Mike Tyson?
If you're roughly 40 and grew up in the 80s and 90s,
and your parents didn't have the ducats to take you to a Knicks game or a Lakers game
or whatever town you lived in, you missed out on Michael Jordan.
I did not see Michael Jordan.
You might say that's the number one easy answer.
It's easy.
And it's a great one.
But when you think of the close to equal impact Mike Tyson had,
how invincible you thought he.
he was as a kid, how your family gathered around on a Saturday night for a pay-per-view,
how Mike Tyson's punchout meant the world to you.
007373-359-6-3, you're just trying to get there to fight him.
Well, it could be maybe him and his heyday.
You know, after going to quite a number of fights with you, UFC and boxing, just the whole fight night vibe.
It probably was cool back then to go to a Tyson fight.
Right?
You know, big stars showed up for that.
So again, I ask you, let's be inclusive.
Let's get involved.
Let's say good day.
Thanks for hanging with us again.
It's an honor.
818-907-0-062, Kavino and Richin for the herd.
Now, while we get the phones rolling, let's go to Ryan for the herd line news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Great to be with you guys this morning.
Yes, sir.
Great to have you in the herd.
Let's start off with some NFL, some interesting reports out of Philadelphia regarding the
collapse of the Eagles last season.
The reporter...
I love this story, by the way, Ryan. I'm sorry. I do. I love it.
It's all good.
Reporter Derek Gunn says, according to sources,
first, Jalen Hertz's big contract,
pulled him in numerous directions on and off the field,
then put him under a lot of pressure. He didn't handle well.
And Big Dom DeSandro,
the suspension of the head of security
after his altercation with Dre Greenlaw on the sidelines,
that he controls
Nick Siriani's emotions on the sidelines.
and in his absence, Nick got into numerous arguments with players and coaches during games.
I love how he's been referred to.
Dom DeSandro has Siriani's emotional support, Don.
Like, it's the fact that he gets kicked off the sideline,
was he really the big East Coast Gumba that was like,
Hey, Nick, relax, relax, oh, oh.
He was more of a Baca Galo.
Yeah, but seems like the type of guy that did keep Siriani's emotions in check.
Yeah.
And it sounds like such a ridiculous thing,
But sometimes when a system's working, you pull out one little piece starts to unravel.
100%.
I totally agree that it's not the sole reason that everything fell apart,
but I 100% believe that that definitely played a role in what became a pretty epic collapse
for that Eagles team after starting 10 and 1.
Let's keep our attention on the NFL.
Former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum suggested the Dolphins should consider moving on
from their young star wide receiver Jalen Waddle.
maybe for a player like the Chief Stud
quarterback Trent McDuffie,
great season,
incredible Super Bowl performance.
His teammate Tiger Kiel quickly jump in
said nope, posting this
on social media.
My boy Waddle is the future.
He's better than I was at this point in his career.
And for people and this fan base to want to trade him,
it's ludicrous.
I have one thing to add
of major importance.
You know, he does the little Waddle.
You know, I'm helping my first grade daughter
with a project on penguins.
You know,
a group of penguins called a waddle.
Wow. Fun fact.
How about that?
Dropping fun facts.
Oh, and they should keep them, by the way.
I mean, why would you break up that core of great wide receivers?
I agree. Yeah.
There's no need to move on.
Waddle, on, a waddle.
I mean, Shrette McDuffie, great player.
Yeah.
But, you know, Jalen Ramsey was hurt to start the year.
They had a bunch of key defensive players like Jalen Phillips, Bradley Chub,
get hurt.
I think the dolphins are mostly just fine with where they're at.
We'll finish up with this in the NBA,
which returns to play tonight after the All-Star break.
and despite being third in the east,
the buck's season has been anything but smooth sailing,
already had to fire their head coach Adrian Griffin,
their three and seven in their last 10 games.
And speaking to the athletic,
here's what Yonis had to say about their struggles.
Quote,
we have to stop feeling bad about ourselves.
I'm tired of this.
We have to stop doing that.
Things are not going to be given to us.
We have to go and take it.
Damn.
That's a great attitude.
Stop being a sports baby.
You know, he said he doesn't watch a game,
so, you know, focus on the games he's in, I guess.
Thank you, Ryan.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurd-Lie News.
Ryan, keep your eye to the streets on one story, if you don't mind.
49ers defensive coordinator, do you think there's a chance that former head coaches
are likely to want to do this or you think they're going to go within?
I've seen both things.
I think they're at a point where, obviously, they are in the Super Bowl window of winning the next couple years.
you got to go full court press on trying to get someone with head coach experience
who can help get that team to over the hump in the Super Bowl.
Kavino and I have discussed like Pete Carroll, Bill Belichick,
when you see names like that, Super Bowl winners,
you're like, they're not going to be a coordinator.
But if it's like a ready to win scenario and they're okay taking a step back?
Yeah, I don't see how that wouldn't be an absolute home run for Shanahan.
100%.
I thought it was like a joke and then you start seeing legit people reporting it.
You're like, what?
Yeah, but a lot of times people take steps back to move forward.
There goes your grammar.
Steps back.
Now, let me call you out.
Sir Lips Blot.
You know, this is just a straight up step back, I would say.
I've taken steps back.
We all have.
Yeah.
But with the goal to move forward.
It's interesting.
At that stage of life, is that the goal?
I don't think so.
A ready team to win the Super Bowl, step in.
We'll say.
All right, well, we are going to take your feedback.
I want to go through it all.
The times you missed an opportunity,
or who would you like, that time you'd want to go back and see that player?
Yeah, the more I think about it,
I think there is just one universal answer.
There's other ones, but who would you have wanted to see in person that you missed out on?
More, Kavino and Rich next.
In for the herd.
Colin, we'll be back.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd.
Weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
Hey, we're Kavino and Rich.
Fox Sports Radio every day,
5 to 7 p.m. Eastern, but here's the thing.
We never have enough time to get to everything we want to get to.
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called Overpromised.
You see, we're having so much fun in our two-hour show.
We never get to everything.
Honestly, because this guy is over-promising things we never have time for.
Yeah, you blubber lips.
Blame in me.
Well, you know what? It's called Over-Promise.
You should be good at it because you've been over-promising women for years.
Well, it's a Kavino-and-rich after show, and we want you to be a part of it.
We're going to be talking sports, of course.
but we're also going to talk life and relationships.
And if Rich and I are arguing about something or we didn't have enough time,
it will continue on our after show called Overpromised.
Well, if you don't get enough, Kavino and Rich, make sure you check out OverPromise.
And also, uncensored, by the way.
So maybe we'll go at it even a little harder.
It's going to be the best after show podcast of all time.
There you go.
Overpromising.
And remember, you could see it on YouTube, but definitely join us.
Listen to Overpromised with Kavino and Rich on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,
creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
One week I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment.
And the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast.
It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told,
and for people who are chasing something bigger.
So if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream,
this is right where you need to be.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how
we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.
All right.
Hey, your feedback.
Your phone calls on the herd, CNR, in for Colin.
The number is different today for us.
818-907-0062.
You brought up an interesting thought, which is,
is there an athlete that you feel like you missed out on seeing when they were playing?
Because it was the anniversary of, actually what, the birthday of Kirk Cobain?
Kurt Cobain's 57th birthday this week.
and you know I talk so much music all the time
people are you ever seen Nirvana live
I feel like an embarrassment
when the answer is no
but truthfully they never really played again
in our area growing up again we're from the East Coast
but I never did and that's one of my big regrets
in music
I'm posing the sports side of this I know hip hop shows
aren't as big as rock shows and pop shows
like hip hop you know a lot of people say live
maybe isn't as good but
there's a lot of people that were probably big Tupac or Biggie fans that thought they'd had all the time in the world to see him never got a chance
That's a great answer man right. I mean
We're gonna go out in the room. We're gonna get to your phone calls 818907-06062 like Rich said
You know I hate to admit when Rich is right
But when Rich and I agree it's fact
And we said it in passing and you brought it up
I think the number one answer on the board for any 80s 90s kid who had Jordan Post
in his bedroom who had a Jordan jersey even though you didn't root for the bulls you were singing you want to be like Mike you were drinking Gatorade you were space jamming you were rocking the Jordan once if you were alive in that time and he came to your town and you know he did you know he did it's not like Nirvana where you know they never really played on the East Coast at least in our area that much Jordan played most likely somewhere in your vicinity in your city and you didn't see it and you didn't see it and you didn't
go. He played somewhere other than Chicago
40 times a year. Exactly.
But I'd say, none of my
good friends that are sports fans
have a story about my dad
took him to see Jordan. Can I tell you
I regret that so much, Rich, that I play
mental gymnastics with myself, convincing
myself somehow, I had to see him, maybe by accident.
Doesn't work that way. I know.
No, no, meaning like, I went to... You're not your buddy, Barry.
Kavino has a friend Barry that has a theory
that if you think hard enough that you hooked up
with a girl, you hooked up with her.
Well, he's saying that the memory of it is just the same as the look back at the reality.
You know, but my point is, like, my dad or a neighbor brought me to like a Knicks game,
and he happened to be playing the Bulls, and I just didn't realize the impact at the time.
But if we lived in that time, which most of us did, and we didn't see Jordan,
that has to be the number one answer for people, again, who didn't see him.
and I unfortunately think I'm one of them.
I appreciate the feedback.
Let's go right to the calls.
Let's start with Dan in Washington.
Dan, you're on, Kavino and Rich, in for Colin on the herd.
What's up, man?
Hey, guys.
Huge fans, by the way.
I love you guys.
Listen daily.
Thanks, brother.
But non-sports-related would be Michael Jackson.
I have regretted my entire life, never seeing him perform wise.
But the one that I have sports.
related is I actually got a chance to go to a game when Pippin was with the Blazers, and they
were playing the Lakers, and I really wanted to see Shaq and Kobe, and both of them were out.
Weak sucks.
Weak.
Yeah, and so Shaq was there, at least in plain clothes.
Kobe didn't travel with the team.
And by the way, I don't know if you guys, I'm sure you have, but you've never seen Shaq in person.
he is a frighteningly love
I gotta say
these guys have interviewed me a few times
seeing me in close
there's a picture
seeing me in close doesn't count
there's a picture
Dan of Shaq with his arm around me
his hand is covering
not only my shoulder
I think his hand goes from my shoulder
down to my elbow
Big dude
Terry in San Diego
What's up Terry
Hey how you doing guys
What's up man
You guys are doing a great job
Thank you brother
Always fun thanks man
My regret in high school
Sinatra did four shows in San Diego when I was in high school
and something in my brain said I should go see him and I didn't.
And that was a big man.
That's a big one, yeah.
But from a sports standpoint, it wouldn't just be Michael Jordan.
It would be Michael Jordan's balls against the Detroit Pistons when they were the bad boys.
That's a hell of a team.
You know, another one.
Maybe Barclay, there's answers.
Our buddy Sean hit us out listening out here in L.A.
He's a big hockey guy.
Mario Lemieux. He's a Penguins fan, but as a kid, never got in person.
It sucks.
Well, if you want to chime in again, at Covino and Rich, at Fox Sports Radio,
we're going to throw it back even more today.
More.
C&R. In for Colin on the herd next.
Stay right there.
