In Los Angeles, on a radio-only day, it is The Hurt. We are out of the group stage. I'm going to talk about soccer in five minutes. How about that? Love it, baby.

Greg CoSell, one hour from now. All the Blazing Five tomorrow. I get text that from time to time or tweeted that. Hope you had a great, great last few days. In my career, I started in radio and then got into a simulcast thing and a podcast thing. So this is very old-school feeling. You can go to us right now, get us live on Fox Sports. radio. Don't have to, I'd never showered this morning. It was great. No shower. I smell like the

bottom of a barge. Does not matter. I am in a small radio studio in an undisclosed location. Never been happier. Um, we're going to old school. We're bringing in scones from a bakery across the street. Got my whole food's coffee. This is old school today. So a couple of things to start. always felt that outside baseball, I feel like baseball left me behind a little bit, the pace of play. I don't think I've ever loved sports more, but they're all different. All the cultures of sports are different. The NBA is very player-friendly. I got no problems with it.

Soccer. I see Ronaldo is going to sign a $200 million a year deal with Saudi Arabia. Soccer, NBA, superstars get paid and have huge control. bounce around all over the place. I got no problem with it. College sports, the coach has more power in the player. I got no problem with it. NFL, the league, the shield has more power.

And I think the NBA doesn't want to be like the NFL. But I also think the NFL doesn't want to be like the NBA. And there's a podcast called All Things Covered. Former Steeler Brian McFadden was on it with Patrick Peterson, a former teammate of Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals. That thing is kind of imploding. And Patrick Peterson, with some kind of honesty that pro athletes rarely throw shade at guys they know. Here it is.

Vocally, Kyle Murray is talking about, and I don't like how he's doing that, I think he should keep some things privately. But it tells me he doesn't care about his head coach. And he's putting everything on the head coach basically saying. Tyler Murray don't care about nobody but Kyle Murray. That's just a matter of fact. So as the NFL has grown, the revenues have exploded. Star quarterback salaries, the most important player, are now, I mean, like messy, Rinaldo-ish, guys signing four or five hundred million dollar contracts.

They're only going to grow. And I'm here for it. But it is starting to feel a little bit like the NBA where guys get these huge deals. They either don't work out. They're past their prime. They get hurt. And the team is trapped. That's what the NFL's always done a really good job of.

They don't get trapped. I mean, the last 10 years, you can't name bad contracts. Baseball's got dozens. NBA's got two dozen. But Arizona's a little trapped. Now, trading for Russell Wilson, because Denver feels trapped, and they are. But trading for Russell Wilson was the right idea. Giving him a massive extension before you'd seen him play a game probably wasn't.

But where Denver's really screwed is Russell Wilson's out of his prime, and they gave up all sorts of draft capital to get him. It's different in Arizona. Kyler's in his prime, and they got all sorts of draft picks. The only way for Denver to really ease the pain, because these are the two situations where you're like, oh, my God, these are like NBA contracts. The only way for Denver to ease the pain is to go out and find the best young,

head coach you can find, probably offensive, and save this thing. Because you don't have the draft capital to hit on four, five, or six picks like the Seahawks did. We're literally five picks are all good, turns your round in an hour. So they've got to push control, alt, delete on their computer, reboot, go get a new coach, new system, new ideas, new play catalog. I think you, in Arizona, I think you can fire the coach. their big issue is in draft capital or even his athletic ability because Kyler can really ball.

The problem is he's just difficult. Russell Wilson may be a tad cringy. He's not difficult. He may be a tad delusional, overly optimistic. He's not difficult. Kyler Murray's just hard to coach. Ian Rappaport, very trustable guy, said here recently the coach could be irrelevant. I think it's always tense with Kyle.

Like, I don't think with Cliff's always very, he works hard, but it's very chill. With Kyle or it's always tense. So, like, I know we all, I mean, including me, like I did a thing on this this weekend. We're all kind of focused on that relationship. I would imagine it's going to be tense with any coach and Kyler because he wants what he wants. He sees what he sees. He's very demonstrave about it. And he's kind of curt a little bit, like quick and like, come on.

Like, he's very blunt. He's very blunt. So you have these two situations. where the NFL is starting to feel a little NBA. And by the way, the NFL has borrowed things I like from the NBA. Celebrations after touchdowns, much better on social media than three or four years ago. They've lightened up. They've moved in the right direction, player empowerment.

But you don't want to become the NBA in baseball where teams get trapped. Because in the NFL, it's still a salary cap league. Bad contract, bad team off television. You go to the corner TV game. you do not you do not want to be the Texans and it's amazing how fast it goes south bellichick now doesn't have the right quarterback spent 300 million dollars on free agency none of the guys popped judon's okay but like really none of them popped kind of irrelevant that's bill bellichick so i think i think Arizona at least they both got their issues

I at one point about a month ago, two months ago, said should Denver and Arizona swap quarterbacks? Arizona just wants somebody that's a grown-up and coachable. Denver's like, we got no picks. We need a playmaker because we can't fix the O line in one draft. We just can't do it. We don't have the picks. Something to consider.

Okay, soccer fans. Now, let me just say this. I don't think a sportscaster ever sounds dumber than when he rips on soccer. Like, it's not a political thing. It's here. It's growing. I have said this before. I have twice tried to buy into, I couldn't afford it, buy into an MLS team.

I tried 10 years ago. I tried six years ago. That I grew up. My mom was British. I went to Europe as a kid. I was just really young. Five, six, seven years old. Early 70s went to England with my mom.

And the Netherlands had a great player named Johann Croyfe. and they were a dominant team back then. So was England. England, I think, won a World Cup, late 60s, early 70s. And my mom's twin brother, Peter, bought me this little play, toy soccer game. And for some reason, the little players, if I recall, they were like orange. And I, you know, I was like a little kid, pretend they were Netherlands because the family in England, my mom's family, big soccer fans, blah, blah, blah, boring. I moved to the Pacific Northwest.

I'm from there. Sounders, Tony Chersky and goal. Like, I've always liked soccer. Moved to Portland was a sportscaster. They had the late Clive Charles, the coach at the Portland Pilots. I've been around soccer.

I'm not an expert on it, but I like it. You know, soccer fans, however, are annoying. I've watched the Tunnel World Cup. I'm pro soccer. Pro soccer movement. Soccer fans are annoying. But it is explainable. They've been ignored.

mocked and often frustrated by the United States men's national team. And meatheads. You know, you get kind of meatheads that it's not a tough guy sport. It's the wrong football. And when you lose, be one thing if we won the World Cup and then you could, you know, trump those idiots. But in the end, you get mocked a lot, ignored a lot, feel like you're bullied a little bit and ignored.

So they're all a little bit delusional and defensive and protective. righteous and they're just annoying. So believe it or not, all these soccer fans who have not attended a single practice, a single team meal, I haven't either, but I don't think I know more than Greg Burhalter. That's kind of a difference. I don't think I know more than Greg Berhalter. All the soccer fans do. And they're not happy with him.

All I hear about is vetching and complaining on the interweb. And I'm thinking, quick review of what Greg Burrhalter took over. There was a movie about it. It was called the Titanic. This United States men's national team was an embarrassment. I sat on my couch and watched us lose on a second-tier field to Trinidad Tobago in 2017 and qualifying for the World Cup. Remember that? Like they didn't mow the lawn in like, I don't know, the pitch in like a year.

Soggy field. rain, if I recall. We could not beat Trinidad Tobago. We had, we were bad defensively, no real vision, and the players didn't appear to like each other. There was this mix of young, ascending players and old guys, Michael Bradley, Clint Dembs, it's just bad. It is bad. Very quickly, Greg Burrhalter, who goes to every practice, Phil meetings actually knows the team. They started beating their rival Mexico. They won the Concacalf Gold Cup, the Nations League. They qualified for the World Cup. And then they go on beating in the group stage. And yet, soccer guy is outraged and constantly bothered by Greg Burhalter. Soccer guy who coaches his son at AYSO and plays FIFA

downstairs in the basement in his downtime, knows more than Greg Burhalter. No, you don't. Now, all coaches make mistakes. Pete Carroll, Super Bowl, right? Bill Belichick, benching Malcolm Butler. Those are Hall of Fame level coaches in the Super Bowl. Nobody thinks Burrhalter's perfect. Greg would tell you he's not.

And I have not loved some of the substitutions. Shack Moore looks a little overwhelmed. But you have to add context to that. Because it's in Qatar, which is like playing, you know, in Vegas in the summer, it's hot, right? It's not an ideal place to have a World Cup. It's why we're putting it in the fall. It's a little cooler. Five substitutions.

We usually have three. Like soccer, three substitutions. Now you're allowed five. Why? Because of the heat. So you're almost offered double the substitutions. What does that create? Well, experimenting. You're going a little deeper in your bench than you probably would in another World Cup

and you're making some moves staggering some players' minutes in the heat that you probably wouldn't make. In fact, you wouldn't make if this thing was played in Ireland in the summer, not in this heat and three substitutions. This is a different World Cup. It's just, it's the time's different, the heat's different, the substitutions are different. We just came out of a group stage, not an easy one. We didn't lose. Draw against England.

Okay. Didn't England beat Iran like six to two or something? But I'll give soccer fans this. Their angst is explainable. I've often called this low sport self-esteem. It's like Cleveland Brown fan or for years Buffalo Bills fan. You get beat up so much that when you have a glimmer of just positivity, you go crazy. Cleveland Browns go to the playoffs with Baker.

Baker's better than Mahomes. No, he's not. But I get it. In this way it works in the inverse, in that because they're so defensive about how they've been ignored or treated and the disappointments, They go crazy every time, you know, something's not perfect. Just know this. Nobody likes their soccer coach or slash football coach unless they win the World Cup. If Brazil doesn't win, guys in trouble.

Canada's been disappointing. Person could be in trouble. So some of the criticism, because it's in once every four-year tournament, is just based on urgency, right? Like, this is it. It's not like the NFL. Got a game tomorrow. Game tomorrow.

Can start 0 and 3 and make the playoffs. But the constant criticism by soccer fans of Burrhalter, the substitution patterns at this World Cup are different. He's a very smart guy. But if you go back to what he inherited, it was a disaster very quickly. The improvements defensively for this team are staggering. Hell, I didn't even know who the goal he was.

year and a half ago. I mean, Matt Turner was, you soccer fans didn't like him at all. But a year to a half ago, we're all asking. We always have the goalie, right? Who's, who's, who's, who's, who's, who's, who's, who's, who's, who's, it's been unbelievable. It's been unbelievable. So that's where we stand today. I love doing old school radio. Seriously. Who needs TV? Not this guy. Got a scone. Got my whole food's coffee. I got a two-person staff today. Well, no, no, three. Two full-time staffers today.

A source told the place I used to work ESPN on Wednesday, the Rolls Bowles agreed to terms that will pave the way for the college football playoff.

Folks, we've got it. It's official. 12-team college football playoff in two years. A, it was inevitable. B, there was way too much money on the table. This was going to happen. And let's be honest. see here or three or C, it's another great tournament. March Madness is what? 68 teams, World Cup is

32, college football will be 12. It'll be glorious. We like tournaments. Yes, yes, like the World Cup and March Madness, there will be some mismatches. Spain beat Costa Rica 7-0. It happens, but eventually the cream will rise in college football. It'll be Big Dog against Big Dog. Expansion is here to stay. Colin, it devalues the regular season. Oh, brother. Yeah, when Bama plays Georgia or Tennessee in late October, nobody will go. Come on.

Bamma Auburn won't mean that much. Well, it hasn't meant that much in the last seven, eight years anyway. And by the way, the stadium will not be empty. I'll guarantee you that. Regional pride, local pride. I know, I know. many of you think Baton Rouge and Ann Arbor and South Bend, Indiana, and Madison, Wisconsin, and Knoxville, Tennessee are suddenly now with a 12-team playoff

just going to be empty on the weekends. I'm here to say they won't be. They will not be ghost towns. It's all going to be okay. If I could be kind of blunt here, I'd like to be. And since the show's called The Herd, I'm going to be. Big time sports are not here for your nostalgia. Nobody cares.

ESPN created ESPN Classic. Absolutely nobody watched it. It's done. I think they still have ESPNU and nobody watches that and they kept that one. That's how bad ESPN Classic was. Go to YouTube. Watch old Rose Bulls. You'll be, you know, you'll have a time of your life.

Nobody cares. The bottom line is college football is big time and you're going to watch the big matchups. Sports or business, grow or die. If we had a 12-team playoff this week in college football, number one, Georgia would have

a buy, number two, Michigan would as well, number three, TCU would, and so would USC. And then you'd have Penn State and Clemson. Both overrated, I would take Penn State. Ohio State and Tulane, probably a blowout. Bama, Utah,

fun. Utah would move the Baltimore Fun, Bama, and Tennessee, Kansas State. Now that Kansas State wouldn't have to face Brendan Hooker, Kansas State, yeah, Hinton Hooker, I'm sorry. Kansas State would probably win. Probably, maybe not. You wouldn't watch that? Ohio State Tulane looks like an ugly one.

But, you know, Ohio State, by the way, knowing who they would play next could absolutely come out flat. We see that all the time. I mean, we watched, I watched Ohio State before the Michigan game. Didn't they play Maryland? They didn't play particularly good. I watched Michigan before the Ohio State game. They played Illinois.

They were terrible. So these initial matchups, you know, you got, if you know you're facing Georgia or USC or a Michigan could face Ohio State next or vice. versa. A very, very easy chance that a Utah could slip in or a Cincinnati in their biggest game of the year and give you fits. This is not a 24-team playoff. This is not a 36-team playoff. You know, your 11th and 12 teams, you're going to get a small college team, and it's going to be their Super Bowl, so they're going to play their arse off, and you're going to have a chance to have a real competitive game, sometimes, and then sometimes you're going to get Spain, 7,

Costa Rica, nothing. And that's going to happen and we're all going to be okay. It's not like the first round. The best part of March Madness has always been, in my opinion, it's not the final weekend. It's the first weekend. It's a blast. This is crazy. You get these matchups you never get.

And there's always just awful games. Those early morning games where nobody's in the stands and like a North Carolina is really, really good and they're just too big. And they beat somebody like Coastal Carolina, 78 to like 48. And you can tell instantly it's like, good thing this thing is early in the day and nobody's here. You're going to get some of those. By the way, you get some of those in the Pact 12 conference.

You watch the USC Colorado game? Do you watch Alabama, Georgia play the bottom of the SEC? There's crappy games every weekend. It's fun. But people, I'm not a big, I didn't grow up in this classic kind of family with lots and lots of tradition. I mean, we weren't.

a church family. You know, I grew up rurally, so we didn't live in a, you know, a subdivision around everybody and the kids all played on their bikes. I lived out in the middle of the sticks. You kind of offended for yourself

and did your own thing. So I'm not beholden to tradition. I think sometimes that stuff is weird. One time I lived in West Hartford and I had a neighbor and he was a sports fan and we just started talking about something and I don't, I'm not a collector.

And he collected stuff. And so he goes, oh, I've got a clock collection. And he was a little odd, but I felt safe. I'm an adult male. So I said, oh, let me see it. He had like 700 clocks in his basement. Very nostalgic about all of them. And you know my takeaway as I walked out of his house?

Weirdo. Nobody cares that you collected baseball cards. Sports is growing. Everything's expanding. NFL playoffs are expanding. I don't know. To me, the way I've always looked at sports, shrink the regular. regular seasons. Major league baseball, 162 games is idiotic. Get down to like 100. Start the playoffs in

the same weather you plan during the regular season. Playoffs start August 1st. Believe me, I'm a sports talk show host. We would die for baseball playoffs August 1st. We're bored out of our minds August 1st now that NFL teams don't play starters in the preseason. Get down to 100 games. Well, what about the records? Again, you're a guy who collects clocks. Baseball card guy. Weird. Who cares? Let's get to the playoffs. 100 games. NBA, I'd go down to like 64. I want my guys healthy. Anthony Davis can barely stay healthy now.

Let's take 20 games off and get the best players to the playoffs. I've always believed expand playoffs. Baseball, 100 games. And then let's go longer playoffs, August 1st, and wrap it up, by the way, October 1st. Because September, remember, NFL doesn't start until like the Thursday after Labor Day. And the momentum in the NFL doesn't get huge. The ratings don't pop until it gets cold. More people go inside.

Like mid-October, NFL ratings start just popping. But September's wide open for baseball. Now baseball playoffs disappear. Unless your team is in it, nobody's watching these things. So wrap it up by October 1st. Own August and September. All sports is is real estate. Own it.

Baseball doesn't own enough real estate. Not enough valuable real estate. I would shrink all playoff games. In college football, 12-team playoff, I'll give you one game against Panera bread. Like, I'll give you one game if you're the University of Washington, you get Eastern Washington University. You can help fund the local state schools, right?

Ohio State, you go play somebody in state. Then, grown-up games. These SEC teams are playing Citadel in week eight. Nobody wins. Fans don't, players don't. Nobody wins. Networks don't. awful. Can you imagine

you're a national championship team and you get a guy hurt against Citadel? Ryan with the news. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. I've always been a big fan, Colin, of Panera Bread State, so I take offense to that. Sorry.

All right, it's been a tough week for Lamar Jackson. First, it was another fourth quarter collapse for the Ravens blowing that game against the Jaguars. did look good. Then after that, he got into it with a random person on Twitter going back and forth, making comments about his contract situation. And now yesterday, Lamar, leaving practice early to get treatment on his quad. Now his head coach, John Harbaugh and the Ravens did not provide any specifics on the injury or what it could mean for their game against the Broncos, but it keeps going from bad to worse for the Ravens and Lamar Jackson so far this week.

Well, the good news is outside of Joe Burrow, I trust Lamar Jackson and Harbaugh more than anybody else and I like Lamar. It's bumpy before a player gets that big money and Lamar wants that money. He's won 75% of his starts. It always gets bumpy and uncomfortable. Kyler refused to scramble in that playoff game last year before we got the bag. I get it. You know, like these college football guys, they're like, hey, I'm not going to go play in the Liberty Bowl. It's one thing that we're in the playoffs, and I get it. If I'm a running back, I'm not in LSU and I've had 200 carries. I'm not doing 26 more in some random bowl game. Well, sure. You look at Tennessee. You were talking earlier about Hendon Hooker. I mean, he went from unknown to people were like,

oh my gosh, is this guy going to be a first round draft pick? Now, granted, his happened in the middle of the regular season, so it's a little different. But yeah, I mean, he's now back to being a six-round pick. Yeah. So it's tough. No, I get it. But yeah, it's been a long, long week for Lamar and the Ravens. All right, from Baltimore to Tampa Bay, Colin, some weird things are happening in Tampa Bay right now. They're currently in the playoffs by virtue of being first place in the NFC South, despite being under 500. But Sunday's ugly loss to the Browns

after leading in the fourth quarter has created some drama with the Buccaneers. Their head coach, Todd Bowles. Here were some comments he made about their up and down season so far. Quote, it's a player's team, every team that has winners that wins is a player's team.

The leader's lead and everyone else follows. So it's time for our leaders to lead and step up. everybody else has to follow and make plays and not just lead but make plays show them by example, show them by being vocal, show them by how you practice. You cannot make those comments about a leader of the team

and being critical of leaders on your team and that would not be a reflection of Tom Brady. Yeah, that feels like a shot at Tom. That was, that's not, you know, listen, I don't know, Todd Bowles, I do think he's really good as a coordinator. A lot of, I talk about this often with quarter, How are you at the podium? Same thing with head coaches.

Like, words matter. It's amazing. You can start locker room chatter. You can lose guys in the room. That podium has always been underrated. In the NFL, you go to it about once a week. Like when I used to cover the Buccaneers years and years ago, that Wednesday presser, that was all your bites, right? You got post game after the game, Wednesday pressure, then guys disappear.

NBA's different. Baseball, you're a reporter. You're around the batting cage every night. So you've got to be careful about those. I mean, Baker Mayfield's career came unraveled at the podium as much as the field. Yeah. We'll wrap it up with this. Some NBA, Zion Williamson is back and was absolute money last night for the Pelicans.

In their win over the Raptors, New Orleans was without Brandon Ingram and C.J. McCollum, Zion came up huge for them, scoring 33 on 12 of 15 shooting, added three steals, two blocks. You'd love to see Zion play. I mean, he brings so much joy and levity and fun to the NBA. I think he's great. Which can be so negative with some of the superstars and some of the stuff that they do. Good to have you back in. Jeff Howe is a national NFL insider for the athletic. He's got a great story today about quarterbacks on the move this offseason. And you read it and you realize between Tom Brady, who has no loyalty now, he's divorced in Tampa. He'd leave tomorrow.

Aaron Rogers, Jordan Love looked pretty good the other day. Sam Darnold. There's a lot out there. And we know the Niners have this great roster. and have been reluctant to put their feet in the ground and say, Jimmy Garoppolo, here's a five-year deal. So Aaron Rogers to the Niners, Tom Brady to the Niners are things I think are absolutely in play. Jeff Howe is joining us from the athletic.

Jeff, good as always. The Niners situation to me is what makes all this fascinating because, you know, it's hard, Jeff. GMs don't like to admit they swing and they miss. And on Trey Lance, if you go through another camp, there's no question he wouldn't be Aaron tomorrow, Tom tomorrow. There's an argument maybe he could be as good as Garoppolo, but probably not. The Niners seem to me to be kind of the pin in all this, the lunchpin in moving all this. Would you agree or disagree with that? Maybe the last week or so, maybe the last couple weeks.

I was hell-bent on saying, no, next year it has to be Trey Lance because of everything they invested in them. you know how high I am in Trey Lance or on Trey Lance. But looking at this team, this is a Super Bowl caliber team, and they're going to be again next year. And it doesn't matter how much potential Trey Lantz has. This is not an indictment on him. Every coach and GM, the way they evaluate every player, especially a quarterback,

until they've seen it happen on the field consistently. They cannot believe in what your potential can be immediately. They need to see it happen. And Trey Lance getting hurt this season really hurt him. And it hurt the 49ers potential for the future. I mean, they could bring Trey Lance back next year and gamble on him. But if you don't have a solidified quarterback situation, you can't go into 2023, knowing that you're a Super Bowl-calibur team.

So that's why I think all of these teams, whether it's Garoppolo or Brady or Rogers or whoever, I think you're right. That's where it starts. You know, it's interesting on Aaron that people view me, fair or not, as sort of anti-Aaron. And that's why whenever I criticize him, I try also to add a positive. And I do think he's got several years left. But they didn't draft Jordan Love to have him sit for three years. They thought Aaron was declining.

And there's an argument to be made that there are little signs like Favre at the end. If he's not declining physically, he's declining in terms of he's not willing to try new stuff. Like he's going to implement his ideas into the offense. He's going to eye roll some Matt LaFleur stuff. You know, Farr famously said at the end, I'm not going to learn a new offense. Now, Aaron's not that verbal about it. But we know Aaron tends to have a strong opinion of himself, of his world. And so I do think there's behind the scenes, Matt LeFleur, I think he's a little frustrated with him.

By the way, when they lose, Matt gets all of it. Aaron gets none of it. And I, and I, that's my interpretation is that if Jordan Love is his quarterback and lost, at least Jordan would get some of the hit. Now it's all on Matt. And I don't think Matt, Matt doesn't have, he's not going to go out and criticize Aaron publicly. I think Aaron can be hard to coach, I guess is my takeaway. So my point being long-winded, I think Aaron out of Green Bay, much to your article,

it's not, Jeff, it's not crazy to. me. No, I agree. But I think the big thing is, is it's really going to be up to Aaron Rogers. Because if Aaron Rogers wants to play in Green Bay, it's going to be really, really hard for the Packers to say, you know what? No, I think we're good. You look at the cap situation. But then again, you know, the other side of it is the cap situation. If they take on, I think it's like 40 million in dead cap by trading him next year. And, you know, some of that, a small percentage is offset by the fact that you're operating with a quarterback on a rookie contract. But you are signifying a rebuild.

But the pro side of that is you're signifying a rebuild, and you're getting probably two first-round picks in return in order to help that rebuild. And you just got two first-round picks for, or I'm sorry, you got a first-and-a-round pick for Devons. So you're ushering in a new era of Packers if you're able to move Aaron Rogers. Now, I think this time a year ago, that would have been crazy, just, I mean, obviously, Rogers is going through an MVP season, but what we had seen of Jordan Love at that point was not starting quarterback material.

And maybe it was at practice, but we obviously hadn't seen that. Seeing Jordan Love in a very short spurt the other night, it's like, oh, my goodness, this is this guy looks like a completely different quarterback. Maybe he really is ready. And if that's what the Packers are seeing in practice, too, then that's something. I thought it was really interesting. It's sort of like a different topic, but Aaron Rogers volunteer. the other night after the game, that he'd be open to having the conversation of shutting himself down for the rest of the season and allowing Packers to evaluate Jordan Love.

I think if you kind of push it further down the road, is he also open to the conversation of moving teams? You know, I thought about this. I was on the treadmill yesterday. I thought about this. I'm the GM. I can argue two things. I've got my two receivers and a top 5-0 line still in Aaron Jones, that if I get another

a couple of good picks and go again with a new tight end and furnish Jordan Love with all these offensive pieces in that division. God, I can't see him being awful. And then the other part of me thinks, you keep Aaron, with your first round pick, you go on another, you go heavy offense in the draft, tight end receiver, then you can move off Watkins, Randall Cobb, save some money. It's a real, if you ran the Packers today, which way would you go? if Jordan Love at least looks competent, he looks Justin Fields-ish, maybe not as athletic, but he looks, he looks competent. What would you do? I think if he looks the way that we saw him look the other night, and this is hard because, I mean, Bailey's zappy for a short stretch,

looks like he was really good. So these things, you know, you put a quarterback on the field long enough, they're going to start to get exposed, and you put them on the field for a short enough spurt, then they can look like Joe Montana or Tom Brady. it's hard, but like, let's say what we saw the other night was real. Yeah. I would very strongly consider moving error. So would I. Because, again, this team, we thought they were going to be, I thought they were going to be better defensively this year.

And I know they've had some injuries. I thought they obviously would be better offensively. So this is a team that we didn't realize was probably starting to rebuild. And it's not going to be a long-term thing. It's not like a Chicago Bears rebuild or Houston Texans rebuild. It's not like a, a. a multiple year thing. But it's one of those things where if you flip Rogers for a couple first round picks, maybe, and then some, then you start the rebuild. You know you're not going to

contend for a Super Bowl next year, probably. I mean, unless Jordan Love is like Patrick Mahomes, and we just don't realize it. But, you know, you really start to turn this clock towards 2024, and you've got your quarterback of the future in place, and then all these draft picks start to, like, you know, creep toward their prime. Yep. You've got yourself a great situation. Yeah, you do. Okay, I want you to read his stuff. Jeff Howe at The Athletic.

The piece this morning that I read about quarterbacks on the move, he's got Brady potentially back to New England, Rogers to the Jets. Listen, it's stuff that when you read it, he doesn't have to convince you. It makes a lot of sense. Jeff, as always, I appreciate it.

I'm like, if I could move Aaron Rogers and get a first and a second, I'd have two first, two seconds. And of those four, receiver, tight end, and they pop. Now I've got Christian Watson, Romeo Dobbs, another receiver, a Jordan Addison late first round, and two tight ends, and Aaron Jones. I wouldn't have to pay Watkins, Cobb, I'd probably move off Alan Lazard. And that, I mean, that's a lot of weapons.
