And so we were going to take that show on the road here in this time slot. So it does feel a little bit different than what we've normally done. Traffic, daylight, all sorts of stuff that we're not used to. Sounds awesome. Awesome. Ain't that right bar. You sound very professional. Where is this when we do two pros in a couple at our regular hour. What are you tired?

And then when we do the herd, it's like you get brand new because you're sitting in, obviously the herd himself, you know, Colin's seat. You're in his seat. Right. not in your seat, but, you know, you high-sadded me like your, your, your cowherd today.

What do you mean? That's fine. Well, you know, the last time we did, when we first did the show before you cracked the mic and did such an awesome job, you waited for me, you know, you and Lee, you were downstairs, you were waiting for me. We came up together as a team, as a group. So wait, Lee wasn't there? Well, Lee's not even here.

No. Right? So there's that. There's the subtraction of Lee being present and being available today. and I'm sitting in the courtyard like I went into the building first you know say hey to everybody this another

and you know the first floor building you know Q where we do our radio show you know you know that's right all way down below yeah oh yeah and then I think what my conclusion was when I saw how Jonas was sitting down and everybody was around him

when I got to the studio was that Jonas felt you know as though he's arrived and literally was sitting in the seat. They were doing the specs. They were doing his makeup, all kinds of different things. You know, Elijah was, you know, helping out. And, you know, I was downstairs waiting by myself.

Listen, I just have one request. Could you refer to me at my Twitter handle at the Jonas Knox? Yeah, there you wouldn't mind that. At the Jonas Knox. If you wouldn't mind that, that would be appreciated. Look, I thought you knew we were just coming up to the fifth floor. I didn't know this was a team. effort. I'm downstairs. Like, I'm downstairs, like, are we a team? Like, where's everybody at? Like, are we not doing what we do always? Like, when we come here, this, that, and the other? Uh, he's upstairs essay. Like, okay, all right. Okay. Yeah. All right. He kind of flexed on your low that he got there before you. Yeah. No, well, but he wasn't here before me. I don't know. That's, you know, under investigation. You never beat me here. I mean, never do you. No one ever gets here earlier. I'm just saying, you know, listen, well, I would like to apologize. I had time to go handle my business, wash my hands, make something to drink, all kinds of stuff, and then went outside, because I didn't see y'all in the building, then I went

outside and I had time to actually sit in the courtyard because I know what time you get here and you didn't come. You have to understand too. For those out there listening, LeVar is night and day different when he's the night walker versus the day walker. Well, that's very true. When he's the night walker, you pull up. And I sit my call. You'll see him sitting in his car, he's jamming out. That's right. He's banging to some sort of music. That's right. You do not want to try to even tempt to open that car door.

No. And now during the day, he's as friendliest can be. You know, you can say hi, give him a hug. That's true. I mean, unsolicited. Just walk up to him, give him a hug. Yep. He's a big teddy bear.

Yeah, there you go. That's true. Well, this is what I would recommend. For anybody that runs into Levar Arrington, potentially at the mule, who knows? I was at the mule yesterday. Who are you? I was there.

I had a Levar Allen. Right. I did. You know, just buy him a little. of our island. I'll probably go back today. Say it was on me and that way we can make amends for what happened. A little bit of the mix up here. A little miscommunication.

It's the least we could do. So you're apologizing? Hour four. Hour four will be the apology. The full apology. It'll be written out and there will be a statement made here on this first hour or second hour or third hour I'm a whoop your act. You know what?

Camel clutch you. You know who got suplexed? Uh-oh. The Minnesota Vikings got suplexed by Kirk Cousins. Yeah, he did. And if you need evidence that maybe, if you mean evidence that maybe they got that tilt to whirl DT off the top rope from Kirk Cousins as he went on his way to the Atlanta Falcons, the Minnesota Vikings have made a move.

Earlier today, it was announced they have acquired the Houston Texans first round draft pick on Friday. In the deal, the Texans acquire the number 23 pick along with the seventh round pick, number 232 overall, and the Texans would receive the Vikings second round pick, their six round pick,

and their second round pick in 2025. So, the feeling... They stack in chips. Yeah, and it does feel like maybe there's a potential move up in the draft coming for the Minnesota Vikings who might have a little bit of their maneuver. Kirk Cousins' remorse

here. Is it remorse or is it revenge? Is it vengefulness? I don't know that it's vengefulness. I think this is the perspective of the Minnesota Vikings right now. The 13 wins they had two seasons ago, I think they all felt like they overachieved

or were they 9 and 0 or something in one score games. It was some ridiculous stat that you're not going to be able to replicate that consistently. And they won the division, they get the 13 wins, they get to the playoffs. And I think they kind of see the roster and their team and go, yeah, we're not quite there and we're going to have to make some cap decisions and we're going to have

to figure out Kirk and we're going to have to figure out extending Justin Jefferson. So now they find themselves in the position where they've made, you know, if you look at their free agencies thus far, you know, everyone's going to grade your free agency. It's almost like the first round of a draft. You could have a phenomenal draft class, a phenomenal draft class. Yet everyone's only going to look at the first round pick. And so depending on how that works out, that's largely going to be how people view that draft class. And that's almost how it is in free agency. Like the second they lost Kirk Cousins to Atlanta, Atlanta is the winner.

Minnesota's the loser. Meanwhile, they've been subtly, slowly trying to build back up this roster with a bunch of veterans who, you know, maybe aren't the top-end market guys, but they're also not paying them top-end market money. Like Jonathan Grenard's a young budding star off the edge. They signed out of Houston. You know, Andrew Van Ginkle played some really good football for the Miami Dolphins. You know, he got signed there in free agency as an outside linebacker.

Jerry Tilleries played some good football. Trent Sherfield's not a number one, but they don't need a number one. They've got basically two number ones in Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, who are both very capable. They need a number three, and that's what they got. Aaron Jones is a very capable running back, you know, a little bit up there in age, but still. So with this trade, they now have the ammunition to get from their number 11 over. pick and package that 23rd overall pick and maybe 108 to jump up to I think it's got to be number

four. I think if you want to assure yourself the quarterback that's after Caleb Williams, then most likely Drake Bay and Jaden Daniels. Jay J.J. McCarthy. You have to go to number four where Arizona is at. That's the only way it works. Otherwise, you know, you run the risk of maybe the New York Giants at six or someone else trades. up ahead of you, if you get a five with the charges and they trade back, of leapfrogging you with the Arizona Cardinals being there at four, they really don't need a quarterback. They've got Murray.

They traded for Desmond Ritter, which we can get into. But largely right now, I actually think the Vikings have found a way of making up for what looked like a disaster, and they've now positioned themselves to get their future quarterback. I think it still looks like a disaster if you ask me. That's just my take on it.

I think everything you said was very eloquently put very well, placed and positioned as only you can do. You have been, to all the listeners out there that may not listen to our show regularly, Q has been on fire on his calls and his, you know, and analysis of every, don't be a hater. He called Mike Evans and he called the Atlanta Falcons with Kirk Cousins. He did call them.

Both stolen from my notes. I mean, if we're going to be clear. I mean, again, I know that that's the mood that you're in by you not waiting on me earlier on. This is where he goes with this. It's his show to this new audience, and we're just assisting him, Q. So I understand where Jonas is at, and I support you on that. It's new people to tell a lie to, and maybe they'll believe it. Just don't forget about us when the people that actually buy into your rhetoric decide to do something like boost you to a show, like it's the Jonas Knox show.

Just don't forget about, you know. I don't know about you, Q, but I mean, just don't forget about me. You know, I'll be your beagle juice, I guess. Anyway, I'd look at this scenario with Kurt Cousins and I say, you left a team that was, maybe they didn't show you they were willing to do what you wanted them to do initially. But it's negotiating. It's playing your hand. It's kind of, you're going to follow our process and do it our way and hope that it works out for.

us and it did not. I don't think unless you get Caleb Williams in this draft, I think it's hard, I believe it's hard to sell any other quarterback in losing the most coveted free agent. And in this year's class of free agents at that position, I think it's hard to make the sale that you're going to be a better team moving forward and you just let Kirk Cousins go for this guy. Bill in the blank. I am with you on this, like that sentiment.

I'm not saying that they're going to be a better team, at least not even in the short term, or that this is even going to work out. I'm just saying early on, early indication, they really weren't an active player. Your two biggest free agents, Kirk Cousins, Denial Hunter, they didn't get either back, right?

Danil ends up going to Houston, right? Cousins goes to Atlanta. You didn't get either back. I just feel like they've done a decent job of saying, Look, if we're not going to pay for both those guys who got paid more, average annual salary per year, then let's go ahead and say we're going to bring in a bridge quarterback and Sam Darnel. We're going to put ourselves in a position to go take a first round quarterback that we feel really good about. We're going to bring in a guy with upside off of the edge of Jonathan Grinard.

We're going to bring in another guy in Van Geinkle who's younger. And let's see what Brian Flores can do with this group. I mean, the one thing I'll say, and I don't want this to take away from any production that anyone had last year in Minnesota. the Vikings defense because they were vastly improved. A lot of that to me had to do with Brian Floreski. Yes. He puts so many bodies up around the line of scrimmage. It's a fire drill to snap the football for the offensive line or the offense to figure out

who's coming, who's not. And so I'm not saying like everyone's going to plug in and play and have success, but I think he makes it easier to find those one-on-one matchups for him. And that's why I'm kind of betting more on these guys will be able to hold their own. I think they'll be okay, but I'm with you. There's no way you can sit there and say in 2024, the Vikings are going to be better without Kirk Cousins as their quarterback. I think if you're betting between Minnesota's success and Atlanta, you would say Atlanta is probably going to have a greater likelihood of getting the playoffs and making a run. But to your point,

they are in terms of personnel-wise, not inferior. They're not. And I mean, they're receiving core. If you can do something that keeps Justin Jefferson, happy and motivated. By the brink truck. Yeah. By the way, the whole is Justin Jefferson on the tray block. Stop.

They're not trading him. Like he's not going anywhere. Can I give you some insight and tell? All right. You know, when you get to call a game, LeVar, you know this because you call games.

Like you talk to the coaches, all right? I can't like understate the, or over, excuse me, overstate the importance of Justin Jefferson to Kevin O'Connell.

everything they do during the week, they have multiple versions of their game plan and it's all predicated on how teams play Justin Jefferson. That's how important they feel like he is. They feel like he's one of the top, maybe the best player at his position, but also in the league. And when I talked to them earlier this past season,

I got the sense that they knew that there might be a divide with Kirk Cousins and that you might not get him back. That was kind of out there. They thought they had a good relationship. Maybe he'd come back, maybe not. But Justin Jefferson is the one I think they're most concerned with making sure he's a Minnesota Viking for the long term. And I think these moves are showcased in the fact that they're serious about finding someone to build with them over the course of the next few years. Granted, maybe a rookie, but they're focused on finding someone to fill that void now.

Yeah. Well, listen, speaking of gambling, if you wanted to and you were in the mood, you could go to. You can go to your life. You see Big Don hit us up. Don't be playing around. What happened? Don't be messing around. I mean, Don't leave.

You don't leave. Oh, Big Don. I thought he said Big Don. Big Don. Big Don. No, no. Don't say, Don DeSandro? The Big Don.

Because you're gambling with your life. By the way, before the Vikings trade, or before Kirk Cousins left Minnesota to go to Atlanta, the Vikings were a plus 330 to draft J.J. McCarthy.

It dipped down to a plus 150 earlier this week, and now we're at even money following the trade. So J.J. McCarthy, according to Draft Kings, most likely to go to the Minnesota Vikings at even money right now. So there's that for you. It is the herd here on Fox Sports Radio. But we did talk about this quickly before we went to the break, some breaking news in the NFL, and it just came down a short time ago that one of the all-time grades, of this era and any era, Aaron Donald has announced his retirement from the NFL, 10-time Pro Bowler, eight-time All-Pro, Super Bowl championship,

only 32 years old, going to be 33 in a couple of months. 4-1-2 representative. And, yeah, he's going to be on his way to Canton, Ohio, and be a Hall of Famer. Penn Hills, Penn Hills is finest. He's kind of been poking around at this for a couple of years now, and some people thought, well, he's just trying to be the highest-paid defensive

tackle in the league and he's just trying to do this and that but now it's official and he's gone he doesn't strike me as somebody who's going to come back out of retirement this seems like that's going to be it for aaron donald and he's off too he's got a bunch of money he's got all the credentials he's going to be in can't know how in five years from now incredible career i think there's a case to be made too and lavar you you might not like it when i say it but it being one of the greatest defenders all time, maybe the greatest. Look, I know, but hear me out. All right, hear me out.

He stepped into the league as a pro bowler. He was defensive rookie of the year. From that point moving forward from St. Louis to his time in L.A. all the way through his career, he's essentially been a perennial pro bowler and an all pro first team. I mean, there's only been the exception of 2022 where he missed time. but I believe he still made the Pro Bowl that you're only playing in 11 games.

I think you could make the case as an interior defensive tackle too and the way he's impacted the game with teams understanding the importance not so much just of having pressure off the edge but a dominant interior defensive tackle he's got a Super Bowl to go along with it

but I think you could make that case he's had that successful of a career. I don't want to take away from the announcement you know, congratulations and is in the order for him. And also just a brilliant career, brilliant player. It's interesting because for him to be so undersized, it's guys like Aaron Donald and Steve Smith,

those type of guys, Drew Breeze. It's like these guys have been the greats of greats. are tremendously undersized, have been looked at and undervalued just because they don't fit a prototypical type of size, which interestingly enough, Warren Sapp isn't much taller or much bigger than Aaron Donald and size and measurement. But to me, hands down, those are, in my estimation, the most dominant to have ever done it at their position. And as far as Aaron Donald, his versatility, I think very few. I throw J.J. Watt in that conversation with Aaron Donald in terms of the versatility

and how they can be as impactful and effective along that defensive front. But until a guy is actually the NFL most valuable player as a defender and has had the impact on the game from all angles in the way that they have and has Super Bowl, to go on their resume, has multiple defensive players of the year on their resume, I just can't go, I can't rock against Lawrence Taylor.

Lawrence Taylor is, Lawrence Taylor is possibly the greatest football player of all time, let alone defensive. So I'm gonna say, I'm not gonna argue that. The only thing I'd say is Aaron Donald's production in an era where, as a defensive

tackle, too, 111 sacks, as a a defensive tackle, majority of his career. Hey, listen, I'm not going to fight you because he's from where I'm from. The other thing is, not just the 401, too, he's from where my family, like, we're from that area where he's from.

I think this award has gotten almost impossible for a defensive player to win now. It was impossible then. Back then, it was easier in the sense you got more running backs winning it. Hear me out. Hear me out. We looked at this year's MVP, and we give it to Lamarck.

Jackson, which you can make the case he was deserving. Statistically speaking, though, we could have made the case for a running back, but that almost never happens anymore. It's almost exclusively now a quarterback award. I agree. And I'm saying back then you saw a bit more of a variety at least of it being to a running back, maybe a defensive player, a quarterback, etc. Maybe a different offensive player 100%, but a defender to get the MVP award.

of the entire league is unheard of. It's unheard of. Aaron Donald never had a down year. Like the one year you look at his numbers and goes, well, why did it take a dip? He was dealing with the injury and that was last year. But when he was there and playing, like there was never a down year.

Let me put it to you this way. We're sitting here debating greatest of all time. We're not debating. You know what I mean? Like this is quite the accomplishment, quite the career, quite. I mean, Aaron Donald is every bit of what people think he is.

It's like the Jordan LeBron debate. Like who gives her crap? Like, honestly, who cares? If you're debating LeBron James to Michael Jordan, you've won. It's like arguing who's got the biggest house behind a gated community. Who cares? Like, you're both behind the gate.

You're both won in life. Big deal. There could be a lot of things that are not good about you and being in that home. I'm telling you, when you look at everything that's good about when you have these type of conversations, and I'll say this, off the field, where in some cases now you can make the debate and now you took me down a dark road.

Here's the only reason why I bring this up. It's the only reason I bring up the timing of it and how different today's game is is because as much as you're lauding Lawrence Taylor, he's the MVP, Mark Mosley was a kicker and won in 1982. Truth. Truth. And you also had Alan Payton.

You also had Alan Page win it in 1971 for the Vikings, and you had a bigger run of running backs between Walter Payton, Earl Campbell, through the years Marcus Allen, obviously. Since basically it's turned 2000, right? Like you had Marshall Falk in 2000 win it. Amazing. After that, LT, Sean Alexander, since then, it's been all quarterbacks.

Yeah. I mean, AP won at one year in 2012. It just, it's, look, That's an amazing roster of names. I want to look at the voting, too, through the years, because I think that's the other thing is I think he was a lot closer winning in some years than people realize. So Donald was defensive player of the year.

Obviously, we mentioned the three times. Top two, or he finished top three. He finished top. Like, he finished every year he was in the NFL, minus the first and the last couple years. He was a top five defensive player of the year. And you could argue he should have won it every year as we've laid out.

But it's almost like one of those things to where out of boredom you gave it to somebody else. Yeah, we're tired of this guy always winning it, so let's go ahead and give it to somebody else. When you talk about double teams and need I say triple teams and need I say quadruple team, yes, if you watch film of Aaron Donald, there are times during the game where he is doubled, tripled and quadrupled four men trying to block one guy during the course of one play. He had 20 and a half sacks at a 16 game season

as an interior lineman. I mean that is as phenomenal as it gets for a player. Oh, man. As an interior lineman. By the way, he's a beast.

If we're being real too, he's like, undersized for his position. Yeah. At 6.1, 280 pounds. Like, I remember him coming into the league. That was the knock. People looked at him as a first round talent, but they're like, can he hand up, you know, can he stand up?

Can he hold up? Can he hold up at the point of attack? Is he stout enough? I think he answered any doubters that were out there right out of the gate. That's kind of funny. And you see the games and the excitement and everything else. That's what you did. That's what all your sacrifice was for. And once you get to that point, because he's a player that no one's going to bring in and be like,

oh, hey, we need to go to training camp. They're going to plug him in and they're going to let him go and let him play. And that's a guy that if you were a team trying to make a Super Bowl run and you needed someone in there, I would be knocking on his door every day and making sure that he truly wants to be retired. if we're one of those teams that's on a playoff run, a chance to go win a Super Bowl. I just think it's the preparation and the wear and tear is the reason why he probably chose to step away. I mean, the amount of a beating that he's taking during the course of years, like, sure, he's dished it out, but I can't even imagine the pain that his body feels dealing with that.

And then the preparation, like you said, going into it, someone of his size and what he's able to do at the level that he doesn't, I can't imagine how much. I've seen his workouts. I've seen his workout film. But I'm sure there's a lot of other things that I haven't seen. There's a lot of things that we haven't seen that he has to do in order for his body to be what it needs to be. And I just wonder if he's in his mind. Like, listen, I don't want to be one of those guys that, you know, I knew Deacon Jones.

Like, he was an alumni of mine for Washington. And I used to see him around. And guys who were amazing and did. certain things, their bodies just gave up on them, man. At a certain point in time, you're seeing guys in wheelchairs and stuff like that and they're kind of not coherent. I just wonder if he's one of those guys and I don't know him very well, but I do know some people who like taught him and coached him when he was younger and have known him through

the years. And he just seems like he's one of those cerebral guys. Like he's super smart. He's intelligent about himself, his business, his body and all those things. I don't know that he would be using this as an opportunity. need to just sit down and wait for somebody to come get him. I think in his mind, I can't keep doing what I'm doing to play at the level I want to play at. And this might be the perfect time to get off. It just seems like this might that might be what it is. But in this case, I'm saying he doesn't

even have a chance and I believe that he is a league quarterback. Obviously I played against him and I watched him play and I think he's really good and the sky's the limit for him. Some high praise. Very nice. Love there. Good for him. Must not have seen that last throw

in the Niners game. I don't want to bust anyone's bubble but they've signed with two guys in free agency. Yikes. No, I'm just saying it's just like a bit of... I don't want to bust anyone's bubble but I'm going to just swat this down right away. No, I'm just saying like Josh Jacobs, that's a good

signing, right? After they moved off from Aaron Jones and Xavier McKinney clearly was motivated by Jordan Love. What other players did they recruit there? Doing better. I mean, they got rid of David Bakhtiari. He's gone. You know, they've made some changes there.

I don't think that's interesting. That's the other side of it. That's not a good thing. Well, I'm just saying maybe he looks at that as an upgrade. All right, Dion Sanders has brought Colorado back into the mainstream after only one season with the Buffalo's. His huge persona has helped land some of the top recruits and try and rebuild that program. And some surprising news today from USA Today reporting in the 14 months since Sanders has took the head job, he has not made a single, has not made a single off-campus visit to recruits. No home visits, nothing. Dang.

That's awesome. When asked for comment, the university did confirm this was true. Dang. So some other data from USA today to put this into context. Jim Harbaugh made 145 visits between December 1st and him leaving for the Chargers. Steve Sarkeesian with Texas has made 128 visits in the same time frame. I mean, you see, like this is high praise for Venmo. And home visit.

You don't have to go anywhere. You send some cash. And home visit meaning going to the schools as well. Like he hasn't gone to any schools. Just so we're clear on that. Yeah. No off-cats. campus visits. No home visits, nothing.

Hey. Here's the thing is he doesn't need to. It's because he's, they know where to find them, but also he's recruiting the transfer portal. He's not recruiting high school players, at least not that much. He's got Jordan Seaton, who was a big recruit from this past year at tackle, but if you actually look where they're ranked, they're dead last in the Big 12 based on the 2024 rankings. Their composite ranking, if you mix in all of it, it's really bad. But their transfer rankings, top 10. So obviously, the guys who have played, they've already played college football. They're more interested in coming to Boulder and visiting with him and seeing it than he is of

necessarily going to their house. All I'm going to say is, Man Man just broke the school record in the 100 meters yesterday. He ran a 10-7 officially. What up, Man, man, man? You better bring your ass to see him. You want him to come to Boulder. Oh, you wouldn't send Man Man to Boulder to go to California? Wow.
