Do you remember in college you tried to have no Friday class? Of course. That means I start my boozing today as soon as it shows over.

I opened up the Safari on my phone to show something to someone. And it was still on a not good website. a website that begins with a drumbeat, perhaps.

I get some stuff done. I wish I had this many friends. So, I'm watching Love is Blind last night. So don't judge me, first of all. By the way, you're not alone. You mean the number one trending show? It was a Wednesday night. If you're telling me that there was some hard-hitting sporting event on that trumped that,

I don't think you're accurate. It's been a big week in the world of NFL and all the moves being made. But the second thing everybody's talking about is the love is blind reunion. And I figured after the Garrett Cole News for you you're a Yankees fan, I thought you needed something

to get your mind off of sports. By the way, Les Miserables. That is the weakest story. You know, it just hurts as a Yankees fan. As a baseball fan, he's one of the best. You don't want to see one of the best go down. I feel like they're sugar-coating this, too. Oh, he'll be back in a few months.

I don't know about that. Welcome to the world to being a Mets fan with a sugarcoat every injury. Like, he'll be back in four to six weeks. Three months later. But here's my quick thought on Garrett Cole. And then we'll get into a little NFL and how it's very similar to Love is Blind. Garrett Cole here, yeah, just feel a little, you know, a little tension. You know, I feel bad letting the team down here.

but, you know. Garrett Cole is his very Mahomes deeper. He's Mahomes just an octave lower. Yes, he's got the Kermit thing going on. They hold Kermit signs up when he's pitching just to taunt him. But he's like, he's a little down here like, oh, yeah. It's like if Mahomes went through puberty again. Not the way I wanted to start the season.

I feel a little bad about this, you know, but that's baseball. But before we get to Love is Blind and NFL, I'm going to tie it together. I'm going to give you a Colin-esque analogy. I mean, we are filling in on this. heard. How is lover's blind like Sequin Barclay. I'll give you a Colin-esque analogy. That was more of a Jimmy

Stewart. Colin's more of a stars, stars attract stars. What is the line he loves with the eyes? Trust your eyes. Trust your eyes. So, Garrick Cole, Kavino's a big Yankees fan. If you're new to Kavino and Rich, Kavino from Jersey,

a hateable Yankees fan. Yes. Yes. Typical Yankees fan with his old school Jeter jersey and his gold chain and everything you hate about a Yankees fan is sort of encapsulated in my buddy Steve Kavina. Yeah, but you know what? It's very indicative

in the way you carry yourself. I feel like rooting for the Yankees in their prime and that whole sort of 90s, 2000s run they had, it gave me so much false confidence as a man. You know what I mean? Like, you carry that with you like, yeah, I'm a winner.

By the way, you're not Bernie Williams, by the way. You know you're not Horne-Hitt-Pissata. But when you root for a winner Rich, you feel like a winner. You feel better. You feel cooler about yourself. Like, yeah, all right. Who do you root for? You just do. No woman's ever told you you're Mariana Rivera in the bedroom. You're not closing the deal every time. I mean, that is true. But I do play Enter Sandman every time I entered. I heard that. But I feel like it only lasts for so long, but it does give you that swag in your step, that extra little strut. That is true.

But my thought on Gary Cole is simple. When you look at what baseball has become. Sports evolve. This is not your grandpa's baseball where they won the pennant. Then they go to the World Series and like 90% of the teams are checked out mentally at the All-Star break. It's not your grandpa's baseball.

This is a pitch clock, instant replay, more teams make the postseason. There's a third wild card. We're talking about a different type of baseball. We've seen over the last couple years what has happened to 100 win teams Mets, Braves, Dodgers, Yankees, like there have been teams that have had great seasons

It's all about momentum It's about getting in, it's about momentum It doesn't matter at that point The Phillies and the Padres are two examples of teams That won like 80-something games And ended up in the big show, World Series. So my take is this, Yankees fans Who cares if Garrett Cole's out?

Oh, Garry Cole Right now, like doctors are saying, like one to two months, one to two months, MRI CT scans, x-rays have been done. We need more advanced testing, but, you know, taking it day-to-day by now. Let's play it out. Let's say he was even out until the All-Star break. We'll do roughly 80 games divided by five, five-man rotation. That's 16 starts.

What does Garrett Cole? Ideal situation. What does Gary Cole? I mean, Cy Young, he's going to win a lot of those. Let's say he wins 10. He's one of those, speaking of old school, he's one of those old school guys that he's a gamer. He goes out there to pitch. Let's say 10 and 3 with three no decisions.

And that's lofty. That's saying he goes deep into games. Right. And the games he doesn't get a decision, let's say they go 1 and 2. So let's say he's 11 and 5 or even 12 and 4 in those 16 games Gary Cole would have started. If a spot starter. He plays 500. It's a four-game difference in a league where six teams make the playoffs in each league.

If the Yankees are destined to win 90, 100 games and make the playoffs regardless, I don't think it matters. Yeah, I mean, that's a positive way to look at it, but you never want to start with that tone. You're all about setting the tone, are you not? It's not a great way to set the tone. It's not a great way to start the season. You don't want to start the season. But the other silver lining, hold on, is it might force, and again, it's not even just about the Yankees, this could be for anything.

You might find a hidden gem. Exactly. You might find a hidden gem that now becomes an end of the rotation guy or a valuable spot starter. Or it forces the hand to get someone else who could be valuable down the stretch. So you said set to Tom, and I've always said I'm a big proponent of how you start really, really does set a, it's a mental thing, right? you go on vacation, not to get dirty on you, but I always say when you go on vacation with your wife or girlfriend, I'm a big proponent of the minute you get to the resort, you lay it down. Do you hear this guy, Ryan, you hear this guy?

I mean, because I think if you drop off the bags, give the concierge of 20, like, hey, thanks, I can get my own bags. See, you go, you go to the room, you get it done, you're in good spirits. Like you've almost set a good vibe for the rest of the vacation. It's like when you go bowling. I would say if you get a strike in your first frame Steerrat. You feel like the man. If you get a seven open frame in your first game.

Oh, you can't start with an open frame. If you got like seven and then you miss. If you get a seven and then miss the pocket and your first frame is a seven dash. So you're open frame. In my mind, you might as well just quit. That's like on a throwback Thursday if you were playing like double dribble or RBI or something. You let up a home run early? You just hit the reset button.

You with that kid? Yeah. Oh, boy. I never lost the game, bro. I had a move where I used my big toe to hit the reset. Never lost the game. They're the worst. Yeah.

But I just think that while you want to set the tone properly, I think we live in a baseball world now where if Garrick-Cull is out for months, I don't think it makes a difference because if the Yankees win 86 games or 106 games, they're likely in. But again, my theory, and this is the rumblings I'm getting. again, I'm a New York, New Jersey kid. Rumble, who are you talking to? Some guys from the Bronx on Twitter.

I got Brian Cashman on my group text here. Is there sugar coating this a little bit? Yeah, this might be worse than UCL. Yeah. Some people are saying, this could be a season ender. We don't know yet, obviously, so keep you posted. Even if you hate the Yankees, you don't want to see one of the best guys in the league go down like that. But the point is, if you're talking NFL, yeah, shorter season, less games, more relevance and important.

to each snap, right? But if I were to tell you, hey, Mahomes is starting the season, banged up, but he'll be fine for the postseason, you'll take it. You'll take it. If I told you your quarterback's going into the postseason with a mild ankle sprain, that's not good. But if your quarterback in weeks three through seven, a little banged up, it doesn't really matter. Big picture. Not as much as it used to.

I think 85 wins. It's a long-ass season, right? I think we made the point, though. Aside from all the moves in the NFL this week, and there were some big moves, you've been talking about it all week on our show, so check the podcast. What happened? It's like, do you remember we just celebrated the sad anniversary of, yesterday was the four-year anniversary of, it's COVID, go home for two weeks, flatten the curve. Do you remember that story where actor, musician from 30 seconds to Mars, Jared Leto, apparently went to Joshua Tree State Park

and turned off everything and he's like, I'm not checking anything. And then he emerged like a month later into a COVID world. Yeah, he's like, what happened? Imagine if someone emerged, like they... It's like when Rick Grimes woke up and there was zombies everywhere. Yeah.

Imagine you hook up. Imagine like you went on vacation. You're like, I'm an Africa on a safari. I'm not checking social media. Then you came home and you're like, wait, Derek Henry is a raven? Wait. Kirk Cousers is a Falcon? Wait, hold on.

Saquan Barclay's an eagle. What in the hell? Wait a minute. You missed out on a lot this week. We've been talking about it, like I said. The other story is the Garrett Cole story. And then... The other story, believe it or not, not even sports related.

When I woke up today, here's what I do. Ryan, Tui, The Herd, Fox Sports Radio Nation, I look at my phone first thing. I know people say don't do that, but this is how I set the tone. I look at my phone. And I just hope, not only when you wake up. Nobody died. I don't know. I feel like I'm at the stage of life where I'm like, nobody died.

I checked to see, like, nobody died, right? Meaning like family members, right? Everybody's good because there's always like text messages because we're on the West Coast. and I get my family hit me up in the morning on the East Coast I'm like all right everybody's alive that's cool then I checked my Instagram like who's diving into my DMs no one Brian Cashman

did not one I care about but everyone that did hit me up was like did you watch The Love is Blind reunion and you know what I did I didn't finish it because it's like three hours long I don't have the attention span for that but I did watch most of it and I saw a lot of the highlights on social media

so the next biggest story today is the Love is Blind reunion and if you were one of those people in a coma and you don't know what we're talking about, love is blind is the reality show. Trash TV at his finest on Netflix. You know that

streaming service where Mike Tythinth fighting. And it's where people fall in love without seeing each other in a pod. They're just looking at a wall and they talk for hours and they fall in love and they get married or maybe they don't. It's ridiculous. It's ridiculous.

But love is blind But top tier trash television And I'm telling you It is Yo, I hate the stuff Rich watches And I have to back them up It's one of the better shows

I think that's because you're on edibles all the time that's not why I never happened to me you've never been laying in bed half of sleep You drop your phone and you got out of my face. It sounds to me like you got a problem. Ryan has dropped his phone on his face.

100%. You both have issues. That's totally happened. See, what happens is for me, that's a big one on the couch. Yes. You know, you're going on like hour seven on an NFL Sunday and you're just like,

all right, let me check this real quick. And then you realize, boom, right on the forehead. I could see it happening. But if you're so tired, put the phone down. You've never been sitting there watching like SVP's bad beats and all of a sudden you start dozing off. You drop your phone on your head? Sounds like he's not entertaining you

I don't know if it's 2024 and this sense of like everyone owes you something. Everyone thinks they're the most special, unique, great person in the world. Well, younger people especially because they show up to the job. It's just that you can say entitlement, but that expectation of I'm here. and I want to get paid and I want the best job and opportunity possible. Like that whole thought process of working your way up. That's not even there. It's like, no, this is what I want to do.

I mean, I get it. It's a new way of thinking. Listen, I don't got the patience for this. But I'm fascinated by people's inability to realize it's not all about you. Now, but it is. You don't believe me. Look at social media. Look how self-absorbed everybody is. Everybody thinks they're the star of their own film. And I have to be honest, I think your film stinks. I give it two thumbs down. That's how I feel most of the time. I don't give it two snaps and, I'm not giving you that.

No. So, let me go love is blind first. Then I'll go NFL and I'll explain. Love is blind. You said it before. If you don't watch, I apologize. But trust me, it's the best of the best, terrible reality television. If you

you're not down with it, it's still worth listening to what I'm going to say. So stay right there. You say love is blind. Colin says, trust your eyes. I think that's what he says. So, during these pods, they don't see each other for weeks. They fall in love because they're isolated.

It's like Stockholm syndrome, right? No phones, no TV, none of this. So it's like, you're going to fall in love with whoever you're talking to. Then they see each other in real life. And they decide, like, who, do I want that girl or that car? I'll pick that girl. Let's get engaged.

And then they've got to live together and, you know, they're getting intimate. They're going on a vacation. It's all happening within like a month. Keep that in mind. When some of these people meet the person they met behind the wall are not so thrilled. And someone else is like, hey, if you're still around or available, I'm here. They make it seem like someone's breaking up a 25 year of marriage. like they they paint these people out to be villains if they're just going after the guy or girl they like so i wanted to point out when you were single in your single days did you ever care about the other dudes that were trying to get with the girl you were interested in never is that wrong when you apply for a job when you were like hey i hope this fox sports radio thing works out did you care about the other people that wanted that position never

ever no I told you I'm self-centered you they care about other people no way has anyone ever cared about the other person go for the job when I met my wife she's still like a lingering boyfriend I was like I'll just outdo without loser that's called the one man to beat theory yeah oh my wife was dating a loser perfect I just gotta beat that guy yeah sometimes you meet someone that's single you know who you're competing with Danny Jay everybody yeah that's tougher you meet some hot girl that's awesome and smart and cool and she's with a loser she's with some we all you gotta think is that's You got a better shot. Yeah, I got to just sabotage that idiot. I just got to outdo this, nerd. So I have never cared about, and I'm a compassionate, I like to think I have empathy. I have never cared about the other job applicant. I've never cared about the other guy going after the girl I was interested in. So why do we put on this front, like on a reality show?

People are supposed to care about the feelings of essentially a stranger they've known for weeks. He's a different breed of person, I think. It's this young person who I'm not saying, a bad person, but it's also the same person that cries at the drop of a hat, too. It's like, they're emotionally built different. They say it all the time. I'm built different, bro. And

they are. Big dreaming, bro. They cry at everything. If you watch these shows, they're crying, they're worrying about everybody. You just have this weenial generation of people that think it's all about them. I promise you, no one in previous generations cared about

the other applicant, the other guy trying to get with the girl. And I tie it to the NFL because... Well, wasn't that an expression that we all sort of live by where if you're focused on the competition, you're not focused on the task at hand and where you're going and what you're doing? Like, we were taught to, hey, just stay in your lane and focus on your goals. Don't worry about the other people.

I'm not trying to pal around with that person. Exactly. I'm trying to beat that guy. And I bring that up because NFL free agency brings that same odd tradeout in fans. Sequan Barkley leaves the New York Giants because guess what? They didn't want to pay him

or give him what he thought he was worth. So he said, you know, here's a team who's a better team and remember what he dealt with last season. You know, he held that for a long time. Damn. A company doesn't want to pay you what you think you're worth.

You have every right. It's a business. This is John. Fans are just delusional because they forget. Oh, yeah. this guy's just trying to do what's best for him and his family. Fans are wrapped up with, as you were saying, off the air, the idea of, well, I just don't want him to leave my team. Yeah, I think we all understand, but it hits us personally because it's like, well, you're going to leave us?

Yeah, you just don't want them to move on. And even worse, in the Barkley situation, join the enemy. Ryan, let me ask you, do you think that, NFL fans do you feel me on that they have this odd sense of the players owe them like to be loyal it's one of the

weird if like there's definitely a big rivalry thing here where it's it's less about you left and it's more about who you left us for but the loyalty thing I don't fault players for whatsoever

especially because he himself expressed all the desire in the world to stay in New York. And it was their decision to give more money and hitch their trailer to Daniel Jones that led to this. So like, I put nothing on Sequin in this situation.

It's wildly odd to be when fan bases are mad when a guy leaves in free agency or sometimes even in a trade. Like he had a role in this. The only time a fan could be a little burnt is if maybe the guy that was the face of your team has equal offers

and he chooses to leave. That's the only time where a fan can be like, really? You got to put it in perspective, right? It's whatever you do. If you're a dentist, if you work a forklift, if you work at the factory, whatever it is, if someone offered you a lot more money to do

whatever it is that you do. You said forklift because it's part of our new Express Pro's copy. Yeah, and I've been struggling saying it, so I'm trying to get some practice. Forklift. Forklift. If you're a forklift operator. Yeah, if you're in sales, right? Whatever it is you do, if someone's going to offer you more to do that, because that's what

you do for a living, chances are, especially if you have a family, you're going to do that. If someone was going to give us millions of dollars to do our radio show, we'd be fools. Listen, I love working for Fox Sports Radio. I'm not BSing you. My favorite fit. If there was a rich Saudi Arabian guy, I want you to do your show here. Who wants us to broadcast at his kid's birthday party? Yeah, I'm going to do it.

It's what I do for a living. No, the point is... You're going to the Live Radio Network? I'm going to the Live Radio Network. Yeah, listen, I'd say, listen, I want to stay here at Fox Sports Radio. But that's the thing. If some other company. Right.

That's the thing. We're not saying we'd want to leave Fox, but you want to do what's best for your career and best for your family, especially an athlete, right? I think it's just harder for an athlete because they have the shorter shelf life, right? So they have to make these decisions when they get offered right away. And there's a loyalty that the fans have. a pressure that the fans have where a regular person doesn't have that pressure. So if you're an NFL fan, which I'm assuming everyone is, and if you do watch Love is blind, I'm saying that Sequan Barclay is that girl Sarah Ann.

She just likes the dude that, I mean, no spoiler here if you watch this silly show like we do, but she likes this dude. Do you think she owes anything to these other pea brains on the set? Sarah Ann is the woman with the dude named Jeremy with the Hawaiian shirt. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That girl? Yeah. What does she owe any of those other buffoons?

Nah. It's like Drago said years ago, Rich. Dill Yasimiyar. I fight for me. I'm not promoting selfishness, but what I'm saying is this odd take in sports and entertainment and anything where it's like, like, you owe me something. Stop with the whole you owe me nothing. I sort of want to stay. Again, it's just the fans that don't want him to leave. Otherwise, you have to put in perspective that it's his job and he's doing what he has to do. It's as simple as that. All right, here we go, guys. In the NFL, Lions head coach, Dan Campbell, has been given a contract extension through the 2027 season along with their general manager, Brad Holmes. It was a historically great season for the Lions who went on to the NFC championship game and won their first playoff game since 1991. Ryan, do you think there's a sense? I get the feeling. Like, we know Lions fans.

Detroit went to Ford Field for the first time this year. Great stadium. Amazing fan base up in Detroit. I feel like it's like it's so unfortunate that they got great. And then all of a sudden out of nowhere, Green Bay clicked. Like I think Detroit fans thought, we got this north for the next five years. And then all of a sudden, Jordan Love's like, nope, hold my drink. And now they got Josh Jacobs.

So I think the Lions fans are like, really? And they're young and hungry. Like everyone in Detroit thought the Packers were, and Vikings were desks. for a few down years and doesn't seem to be the case. Well, and then we'll see what happens with Caleb Williams. If he comes in and he's the next generational thing, I mean, they had their quick moment to shine. Little windows sometimes, Ryan.

That's right. They close faster than you think. We always think the runway goes on forever and it never truly does. Unless, of course, as you said, you're the Packers and you somehow get three franchise quarterbacks back to back to back. That's true. All right. The Falcons landed the big fish of the free agency period, reeling in Kirk Cousins.

to be their new quarterback. By the way, Big Fish, underrated movie. He's right. If you've never seen it, Ryan, I feel like you missed out. I have not seen it. Maybe I will have to check that out. And my hot take yesterday, Ryan, was that we were saying some players look funny in the new uniform.

I think Kirk Cousins will not because he looks enough like Matt Ryan. I'm like, just another white dude. Plus, it's a cool uniform. Yeah, you know, it makes you look cooler. Yeah, it's definitely hard to look bad in just like black and red. Yeah, exactly. It's just a good color combo. is Kirk Cousins though talking about his decision to join the Falcons.

I think in Minnesota it was trending over the last couple off seasons to be in somewhat year to year and as we talked with Atlanta it felt like this was a place where if I play at the level I expect to play that I can retire a Falcon and that was something that really excited me and that's certainly the goal and you got to earn the right to do that. You know Colin talks a lot about how franchise quarterback sometimes feel like the city that they're playing in you know Big Ben always felt like Pittsburgh. I don't know if Kirk Cousins feels like Atlanta,

but I do love the fact that that guy just embraces exactly who he is. Yeah, he is himself. I heard Colin make the point this week. And speaking to what you just said, Ryan, I don't feel that way about Russell Wilson and Pittsburgh. I feel like he doesn't match that city. Yeah, not at all. There's something a little blue-collar and badass

about Pittsburgh, and that doesn't feel like Russ to me, right? Well, waiting until Cousins makes his first trip to Magic City, I think he'll get the vibe right away. Got those lemon pepper wings. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Well, you have, you know, well-known rappers like Cuevo who was tweeting out after Cousins had decided to join the Falcons saying, we have plenty of chains down here, ice him out, Kirk Frost. I love it. And by the way, I love how he, Kyle Pitt said, you could have number eight.

And Cousins was like super generous to be like, no, no, I'm not just taking it. Give me a charity that you're into, and I will make a big donation. That's all. You know what? He does everything right. Super nice, dude. Easy to root for. And he buys his shirts at Coles. He buys his shirts at Coles. and he's getting paid, so good for him. Absolutely. All right, and we will wrap it up with this one,

one portion of the NFL offseason. I always find this part very entertaining. Teams proposing rule changes. And I love this proposal from the Eagles, eliminating the onside kick. Instead, you get to try and convert a fourth down from your own 20-yard line. It's a fourth-and-twenty.

Now, they've tried this in the past. It was a fourth-and-15 conversion, so they're trying to see if they can get some momentum and other teams on board by adding an extra five-yard. Let's do it instead of the onside kick. This proposed by the Eagles five push pushes in a run. What do you guys say? All right.

When they were dancing in the kitchen together, I was like, oh, God, every wife is going to want this. And, you know what? There was a viral video where you had to dance like, you know, Beckham in the kitchen. Yeah, but you know what was weird about it for me? A lot of times I watch things like that, and I'm like, you know,

he's really lucky to have her. The whole time I kept saying, man, she's really lucky to have him. You know what? Facts. They were both great. But let me ask you, what other videos are you torn on? Like, do I believe this or not? I got duped by Tom Brady.
