He is in an unbelievable mood. We both had a winning week. His Jets. You're feeling very good about it. Giants, I still think, are better than the Jets, who are basically hiding their quarterback.

But a win is a win is a win. When's the last time you woke up as a New Yorker on a Sunday morning and literally could not wait to watch your NFL teams? I mean, seriously, Jet fan, Giant fan. It's a different world now. It doesn't matter how they're winning. Just get the dub. They put on ski masks and left Denver, stole a victory over Brett Rippin.

You got to love it, Colin. It was a lot of fun. So let's start with the Packers. As you know, I often talk about the Packers. I'm Mr. Negative. Oh, wait. Mr. Accurate. You don't like Aaron Rogers.

No, I don't like some qualities about him. I think he's a great quarterback. So I look at the box score after games. I'm not sure what Green Bay does well. 16 first downs. 0 and 6 on third down. 38 yards rushing. Nine penalties.

Never had the football time of possession. I don't know what they do well. It's why I keep betting against them every week. Through three quarters, Alan Lazard was the only receiver with a catch. Yes, it's bad, but it's also totally, utterly predictable. The two primary issues, the two primary issues both relate to Aaron. This young wide receiver group, we said this before the season. They need a trusting, patient, mentoring Green Bay quarterback, not an eye-rolling, cool, and snarky quarterback.

I said before the season as I picked them to finish second in their division. I don't think Aaron, single guy getting close to 40, struggles with his own family. It's not my opinion. I've heard it and seen it. He's not built for this group. It's not his personality fit. It's okay. Aaron is what he is.

He's really good at what he is. The second issue, and I've been saying this for years, you become your quarterback. You take the personality. Josh Allen will run over people. Buffalo is physical. Mahomes is flashy and coachable. That's what Kansas City is. Aaron's a bailer.

He's not a baller. When the sun is shining, he's great. When the clouds roll in, he hides. This team is lousy in second halfs. They're lousy against adversity and crisis and trouble. The first sign of storm clouds rolling in, they curl up. That's Aaron Rogers. He's great when he's comfortable.

He's passive aggressive personality guy. He doesn't like conflict. It's eye rolling. it's finger pointing. And too often I hear, and this is what drives me nuts, it's always he's above it all, right? That's why he's talking about retirement. That'll be your problem.

All be gone. You know, Matt Lafleur staff, those guys, I want more we, I want more all in. And I'm just not showing up on a Monday morning saying this. I've been saying this for years now. He always feels like he's above the fray. Mahomes feels like he's right smack dab in the middle of that thing. Josh Allen is right in the middle of.

Buffalo. He loves Buffalo. He's all in. He's never going to retire. He's going to take the hits. He's all in for his team. Aaron's above it all with his Hollywood friends. Don't love it. He, you know, he always talks about manifesting things. Start manifesting community and team and us. Get out of the bad body language. I'll give a young quarterback, the hat on backwards, the Kenny Pickett mistakes. They're young. They're kids. Aaron's now 40, getting real close to it. like let's move on see a therapist in put your arms around them trust the kids credit to tony dungee on NBC last night who called him out on this stuff it's like there's wide open receivers literally through three quarters alan lazards are the only receiver with a catch you tell me nobody

was open come on now nobody is open errand after the game on another less than stellar performance we just got to play better all of us there's probably a number of plays in every phase that we could have done better. But we just, I said it before, the margin of air is so tight. You know, a couple calls don't necessarily go our way. And we don't execute at all on offense in certain situations. It's not winning football. As I said, I don't think he's built for this group.

I don't think Aaron's washed. I don't think, I don't buy it. If you gave him an elite experience receiver, a chase, Claypool from Pittsburgh. He'd be fine. Aaron's not washed. He throws a beautiful ball. But his personality is a bad fit. He's not a mentor. He's not a parent. He's, he's cool, he's snarky, he's above it all. That's who he is. That's his personality. So Green Bay's front office made a real mistake by not getting him experienced dependable receiver. Sammy Watkins never healthy. Randall Cobbs's buddy struggling now to stay on the field. This was a predictable mess.

It's a mess, but it's completely utterly predictable. All right, Kansas City, San Francisco. You know, I should have figured this out. This is my bad. Have you ever in your life you get something new? You work on it. You're trying to get something new. And as you're getting something new and paying attention to the new, new, new, new,

you kind of disregard other stuff you should be paying attention to. That's the old magic trick. Magicians make you look at the left hand. Look over here. Look over here. And then they're finding something over there. So when I watched San Francisco, Kansas City, San Francisco spent the week on the phone upstairs trying to get Christian McCaffrey.

I mean, it was a long deal, multiple teams interested. And then when they got Christian McCaffrey, they spent the last 36 hours up to game time, figure out how to get Christian McCaffrey the ball. And it didn't coach the defense up. They didn't spend time on the details. And in the end, in the second half, they had no second gear. They spent so much time this week. my bet. I should have predicted this. They spent so much time on the McCaffrey deal trying to pull it off and then

getting him and flying him out and then figuring out how do we get him touches. And he got way more touches than I would have thought. But you can tell they spent an inordinate amount of time figuring out how to get Christian McCaffrey the ball. They probably would have been better served giving him a couple red zone plays. That's it. And worried about the defense. Listen, my takeaway in this game is Kansas City is very good. We all know that. And San Francisco is going to be very good. And you're doubting that. But I love I love San Francisco's roster, although 7-8 really good players still aren't healthy. I love their coach, and they're one game out of first place. The Niners are fine.

They ran into a buzzsaw, and I think it came across as a very distracted performance. Listen, if you look at the box score, they had more first downs. They had 18 passing first downs. They were good on third down. They had 450 yards, six and a half yards of play, almost seven yards of pass, dominate time of possession. You know, Kansas City and Niners had about the same amount of penalties. But they didn't look like they took care of the little stuff, a lot of leaks in that defense.

And now, for all of you that don't like Jimmy Garoppolo, you're saying, I told you so. I told you so. You also told me that on the Bingles. And I said, just be patient. It takes time for stuff to heal for Joe Burrell. It takes time for players to get involved and get healthy. Folks, we're only in week seven. We go 17 weeks on this stuff and the Niners are a game at a first place.

They have got a four-week stretch of Mahomes, Stafford, Herbert, and Kyler. You think Jimmy is worse than all those guys. And if he goes one in three, then come back to me, you win. But the history of the NFL isn't. Isn't team with the best, most talented quarterback wins all the Super Bowls. Yes, when you put Mahomes and Jimmy Garoppolo on the same field, he looks small. outside of Joe Burrow and Josh Allen. Who do you put on the field in the NFL this morning with Patrick Mahomes that doesn't look a little small?

Josh Allen looks the part. Joe Burrow increasingly looks the part. He went into Kansas City and won a playoff game. But guess what? Garoppolo doesn't have to face those guys in the playoffs. They're all AFC guys. Allen's in the AFC. Burroughs in the AFC.

Mahomes is in the AFC. This morning, you know what? Jimmy Garoppolo's going to get? Old Tom Brady distracted. Aaron Rogers with no number one receiver. Shrinks in the big game, Kirk Cousins. No playoff wins. Jalen Hertz.

The Brian Day Bowl story with Daniel Jones and Dak Prescott. That's Jimmy Garoppolo's path to the Super Bowl. It's not Maholves. It's not Alan. And it's not Burrow. And he's not close to those guys. You know, I was joking this morning with the staff. You could be a decent looking guy.

but if you walked into a room with George Clooney and he's wearing a tucks, you're going to look ugly. You put anybody in this league not named Burrow and Josh Allen in a game against Packer at Mahomes. They look really, really small. So Kansas City's good. Shocker. San Francisco will be. You're doubting that.

We're going to find out a lot more in the next four weeks because we get Stafford and we get Kyler and then we get Herbert. And now McCaffrey is going to get four or five practices for the. Niners. Now every week they're going to get about two more defensive players in. I think they're going to be fine. It's overreaction Monday. You folks told me the season was over for Cincinnati. I said, take a deep breath. They're going to be fine. And this morning, I wouldn't want to play Cincinnati. I don't think Kansas City or Buffalo or Philadelphia would want to play Cincinnati. Take a deep breath. We're all going to be okay. San Francisco is going to be okay.

We also have AIDS on the table right now. Now you're finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

That's always so weird to me because I remember, you know, you walk onto a football field. You look at a football field when you go into a stadium or a high school football field.

A hundred yards is a lot of yards. Joe Burrell threw for four of those in the National Football League. It was just incredible to me. So last week I said, I really think we have two quarterback tiers. And I'm just talking about the quarterbacks that are good. You know, middle bottom, you don't care, I don't care. But the two quarterback tiers are like Mahomes and Allen have separated from the world. And then that's the first tier.

They've separated. They just look different, play different. And then their second tier is a bunch of guys we all like. You know, your Herberts and your Brady's and your Lamars and Kyler and all this stuff. And you can argue, I'm watching yesterday, I'm about ready to put Joe Burrow in tier one. I think he's separated, folks. If you take out week one, he had major surgery, an appendix taken out of his body, didn't play any preseason, no snaps.

Take out that and he was rebuilding the brand new offensive line. Since then, 16 touchdowns and one giveaway. Leads the entire league in passer rating. Mahomes, Alan, and Joe Burrell, folks, they're different. And you've got to stop with as well, Jamar Chase. Like Mahomes hasn't had weapons? Like Josh Allen doesn't have weapons? Joe Burrow is absolutely, and what he's doing is different and harder.

Mahomes, he got a mentor, Alex Smith, and he is a Hall of Fame coach and a Hall of Fame owner and a great GM, Brett Veach. A lot of stability. Before they gave Mahomes the team to start, before they said, you're the starter, year two of his career. They had five straight winning seasons. He got a mentor, and I love Mahomes. But if you look at Cincinnati, historically cheap owner, no real GM, unproven head coach, tough division, like a team that doesn't manipulate the draft, you know, they get their draft picks, they make their draft picks.

It's harder to do that. It's harder to win in Cincinnati than it is under Andy Reed. It's harder. And I think Zach Taylor's a good coach. I like him a lot. But what this kid is doing is unbelievable and really, really difficult. And when you watch games, you watch them and I watch him. We would all agree that Josh Allen and Mahomes are different.

And maybe Joe Burrell doesn't jump over people or throw it sidearm. But boy, he is an inch away from moving into that incredibly rarefied air. And we usually got about three great ones, two or three max great ones in a career in any given time in a decade. But what I watch what he's doing and what he's overcoming. Looks different to me. Just looks different to me. Take out week one, major surgery. If you don't practice or plan any games,

week one was bad for Stafford, it was bad for Bray. It's bad for everybody. I don't know. You tell me, four football fields, fifth time he's done it in a tough division. Looks different to me. J-Mack with the news. Turn on the news.

This is the herd line news. I should provide a little context. The Falcons were down their top cornerback, Casey Hayward. and their number two cornerback, A.J. Terrell, left hurt the week prior, no Latimore for the Saints. So he's taking advantage. Oh, you like the Jets aren't? Like the Jets aren't?

They are, speaking of the Jets. Let's start with them since you brought them up, Colin. The New York Jets continued their hot start with a 69 win over the Broncos. But it did come at a cost. Breece Hall, aka Breese Lightning, which is just a phenomenal nickname. He's a great rookie. He's such a horse. according to the next gen stats, he had the fastest carry

for any ball carrier this season on that touchdown run 21.8 miles an hour. Sounds like an ACL, Colin. That's not good. He's having an MRI today, but it sounds like his season's over. Cross your fingers. Oh, what a rookie class for the Jets. Yeah. Well, he was going to be the offensive

rookie of the year. It looks like it's going to be Kenneth Walker from the Seahawks. How about the Seahawks draft? Two starting tackles, two starting corners, a semi-starting rush end and a starback. A Seahawks. One draft. But let's get back to the Jets. Let's focus on the Jets here.

Colin, the excitement over 5 and 2 is palpable, but they did lose Corey Davis, receiver to injury, and AVT, the U.S.C. offensive lineman. He went down. Is he out for the year? No, no, no. They don't know the extent. They're going to talk today. Fingers'clock for the Jets. Great story. Yes. Great story. Next up is the Patriots and Belichick. We know what he did to Zach Wilson last year. Can I say this, though? Let me just, let me be the cooler. Okay. This is a hot table. You and I are going to agree, though. The question now this team is the quarterback,

and it looks like the organization and Sala have taken the ball out of his hands. Like, they don't want him to throw. I mean, that's another week with no touchdown passes. They are taking the ball out of Zach Wilson's hands. I'm not saying it's bad coaching. But Robert Sala is telling you, I trust my defense, my special teams, and my run game. I don't trust my quarterback, and I don't think he's wrong. Zach Wilson in college, Zach Wilson early NFL.

What I always say, Johnny Mansell with an arm. He's not totally disciplined. So that has a ceiling. When you take the ball to quarterback, nobody in Philadelphia has taken it out of Jalen Hertz's hand. No. Okay, like they, you would agree this is what's happening. Well, I talked about it on my podcast today at length.

Like, this is Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez 2.0, right? Zach Wilson is Sanchez. And Mark Sanchez will sit here this week and tell us about it. And Sala is Rex Ryan. Let's win with special teams and deal. defense. By the way, Jets won. Special teams I talked about on Friday. Broncos miss a field goal and an extra point. Jets punter had a 72-yarder pinned him inside the five. You're right. I'll say this. I've talked up the Jets three weeks about betting them on this show. I think you

have to bet the Patriots this week against Belchev. I'm sorry Jets fans. That's just the reality. All right, let's move on to the other New York team. The Giants. Listen, another fourth quarter comeback against the Jaguars. Situationally, they're very good. Trailing in the fourth, almost every week and they come down, Danny Dimes, Sequin Barclay. The defense makes a stand at the one-yard line. Nice tackle by the Notre Dame Kea Julian Love. And they're not hiding Daniel Jones. He threw

for over 200 yards. No, they're not. I mean, he's got a limited receiving group, but I don't feel like the Giants are hiding Daniel Jones. He is a component to their winning. Six and one for the first time since 2008. Colin, it's crazy. The NFC least, we joke about it all the time. Three

winning records in the NFC or belong to those teams. Dallas at 5 and 2. Giants and the Eagles. And it's like, Packers down, bucks down. Like, what's the, what's a realistic ceiling for the Giants? And I will mention, they lost Evan Neal, the great offensive linemen from Alabama, and a guard went down as well. So two offensive linemen are down, and they traveled to Seattle. For the year? No, just injured, and it doesn't look like it's going to be back this week. All right. Let's slow down on the great Evan Neal. He's been very good. I mean, you're

hyping the Seattle. You already went from great to very good in one sentence. I, I said this last week. What the Jets are doing, I'm not sure it's sustainable, hiding your quarterback. What the Giants are doing to me is sustainable. There's a ceiling on it. But I got to tell you, the coaches of the year in this league, and it's not even close, Brian Dayball and Pete Carroll. I don't even know how to explain Gino Smith. There's no precedent for being a bust, a backup, and a star. Well, what about Siriani? Shouldn't he be in there? They're undefeated. No, you're right. He's in the, but the Giants, what he is doing with Daniel Jones in this offense. This is a, and it's so great that it's in New York, right? Because we'll, you know,

we'll pay attention to it. Otherwise, this story just, if it was in Houston, nobody would care. It is a great story what Dayball's doing with the Giants. And hey, Sequin Barclay, do you see how he makes people miss? He looks like Penn State Sequin Barclay again. I just, listen, I don't want to get the Giants fans all worked up. I think it's sustainable. I think that you, I think you can make the playoffs and win a playoff game this way. You're not going to win multiple. You're not going to go in the road and win them. But you can win a playoff game with this formula. How about shout out to Kvon Tibido. Did you see him chase down E.T.N.

Who's like a fast player out of Clemson. Tibido did not stop and caught him from behind him. That was a, if you haven't seen that, Kavon Fibito chased down a running back for Jacksonville. E.N, Travis E.N. And he's a defensive end. Yeah. He's a outside back. He looks like that guy's a tank.

All right. Final story. Let's go to some MLB. The World Series is set. Phillies and Astros captured the pennants on Sunday. Bryce Harper's been on fire. Oh, my Lord. Really good story.

And, you know, I saw this thing online where the top five payrolls in baseball, we've been on this, right? Right. Four of them made the postseason, and one of them is going to the World Series in the Phillies. So spend the money in baseball, and you're going there. I don't want to talk about the Yankees getting swept Houston kind of sort of owns them. Can we say this? We just said nice stuff about the Jets and the Giants. Yankee fans.

Houston's better. They've played. I mean, go to the last three years of the Astros Yankees matchups. You can blame Aaron Boone all you want. Who cares if he got swept or won a game? Houston's, I'm a casual. I mean, I am a casual baseball fan. I love my NFL.

I love my college football. I love my MAA. I'm a casual. Houston's the best team in baseball. Now, it doesn't mean the Phillies aren't red hot and can't win a series. I mean, Philadelphia's story is insane. It's fun. Anytime you get one of these Northeast baseball crowds, you got Miles Teller,

you got Jay Wright, you got the stars, you got the... Philadelphia is a lot of fun. And you know the other thing? What I love about Bryce Harper, Bryce Harper broke into this sport, and he's had the pressure of the world on his shoulders since he was 16 in Nevada high schools. And this is his best, most important year.

He's been excellent. It's hard. You can't do it yourself in baseball. A-Rod couldn't lift the Mariners when he was a star to championships. Bryce Harper, he has had the pressure of the world on him for however long he's been in baseball, and he is just saying, get on my back. franchise get on my back I will help carry you to the

World Series. It's an amazing story. Great story. So the World Series game one Friday on Fox. Coverage begins at 7 Eastern. I'll go with Phillies in 6th. I would say, I think Houston's the better team. But there is something about Phillies chemistry.

I'm not, again, I think Houston has been. We need a prediction here. I have a I got to tell you, Phillies really good. It's fun. Philly's a fun story. Houston's a great story. Houston's a story of dominance and great players. Whereas Philadelphia is a story of chemistry and belief and one or two stars.

It's amazing. Yeah. Jay Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. Colin Wright, Colin Wrong, top of our number two. So I want to talk about the Steelers and the Miami Dolphins.

I thought it was actually wildly entertaining in the first half. And because of the two-a-story and Kenny Pickett, I was entertained by the whole night, even though the second half was a lot of three-in-outs. So Mike McDaniel is the young coach for the dolphins, gets a lot of heat. Sometimes these new coaches, they go for it too much,

and he should have hit a field goal. But there's something to remember here. If you score first in the NFL, you win 70% of your games. If you score first at home in the NFL, I don't have a lot of the NFL. the numbers. It's probably got to be 75% of your games. If you score first at home against a rookie quarterback, I bet you it's 85, 90%. Mike McDaniel gets this win, not Tua, not anybody else.

Miami's got a lot of pieces here. The head coach is offense and smart. They've got excellent weapons. They've got the classic left tackle, the classic great corner, pass rush. They check a lot of boxes. But Mike McDaniel knows two is limitations. Deep ball, they're always underthrown. Size, arm strength, very average. But two is coachable. He sees open receivers, gets it out quick. And the first three dolphin drives scripted, practice, and schemed. And they scored on all of them and that was the ball game. That was the ball game. That's a Mike McDaniels win.

You don't have to love the coaching later. But there are statistics in this league that are fairly bulletproof. You score first, you win 70% of the time. You score first at home. You win a higher percentage. You score first at home, take a double-digit lead against the rookie quarterback. You're going to win almost all your games. That was the minute Tua got out.

Out of the script, it's three an outs. Right? Like at the minute, that's not who he is. But Tua is accurate, coachable, sees the field quickly, gets the ball out. Those first three drives, it was lightning because they were practice and scripted. You know, Bill Walsh did this with Joe Montana. Of course, Joe Montana is Joe Montana. But once you get a 10-0-13-0-0-leat at home against the rookie quarterback,

he could have taken his headset off and given it to his staff. you won the game. So he's a young coach. These young coaches, for some reason, don't like field goals. I don't get it. I'm a believer in almost always take points. Unless you're facing maybe a Patrick Mahomes or a Peyton Manning in his prime. You know, there's exceptions to everything.

You're facing Josh Allen or these days Joe Burrell. Then I get hyper-aggressive. You know, you were facing Kenny Pickett. I'd probably take the field goal. But I'm not going to lament that or bang on him. I think the dolphins are going to make the playoffs as long as two is available. And I think we're all banging on this coach this morning. But he came in with a script against a very good defense and historically relevant defensive team,

Pittsburgh, and they marched up and down the field. It's not because two is big, has a great arm, ran around. That's all scripted stuff. That's looking at film and going, we're going to fool Pittsburgh. And we're going to outsmart him, out slick them, out clever them, out scheme him. That was real coaching. That was a coaching win for him. Everybody's talking about the later, the earlier won the game.

Take the headset off, give it to your staff. You won the game. Kenny Pickett's not coming back from 13-0-0 down or whatever they were down. Three scores down. It's not doing it. So, you know, and it's not the end of the world for Pittsburgh. I don't think Pittsburgh has an offensive philosophy. That's my theory on defensive coaches.

They have great players. I love their receivers. I love their tied-in. Pittsburgh's got great players. but a lot of times defensive coaches when it comes to their offense, they just have great players. What's Pittsburgh's offensive philosophy? They can't figure their own line out. They don't have a running game.

I don't know what it is. They've just got great players. When you watch those first drives for the dolphins, that is a philosophy. That is a philosophy and offense. Quick, fast, no huddle, clever, out here, this guy. You're watching them do stuff over, over, over. It was beautiful. It was just beautiful.

They're finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really?

By the way, his Mustangs this weekend, they've got a rival.

And for the first time, in 13 years, they beat the rival. to 21. They out gained them. 633 yards to 147. And your quarterback is Hank Brown. Is that right? You got it. He's going to Liberty, five touchdown. So that's a huge win. That's as big a win as Trent Dilfer's had in his life. Maybe even outside of the Ravens game, that may have been as big a game as you've had.

Good for you. You're happy today. And I totally get how fulfilling that is for you. It's been a really neat journey to watch you in that, by the way. Yeah, really neat for our kids. Overcame a lot. Great program that we beat at their place for the first time in 13 years. Power 5 kids, tough kids, and a great coaching staff. We played against.

So really happy for our kids and our coaches. They did a great job. I was probably the most average person on the field that night. The rest of them were pretty spectacular. So, Trent, you can go look at your Super Bowl, and you were part of a collective, a great owner, a great team, a great defense. And then there are these quarterbacks. You get your Mahomes and your Peyton Manning.

And we always kind of give them credit. it for winning. But Peyton Manning won a Super Bowl in Indy when he had his best defense, by the way. That was his best defense. And I watched Tom Brady. And in New England, he got barked at by Belichick. He took less money. He didn't have a lot of control. He complained to his wife about that. He goes to Tampa. The longer he's there, the more power he has. Now I'm watching his personal life, sadly, unravel. I'm watching the team unravel. And I was talking to the team this morning, And I said, you know, be careful what you root for or seek in life. Like LeBron James, the minute LeBron's wanted personnel decisions, he got Westbrook.

And now they can't get him out of town fast enough. I'm just watching Tom here. And part of me is like, okay, he got all the power he wanted. And the truth is he was a really good team player in New England when he didn't get his way on everything. This thing looks like an uncorrectable mess. Or am I wrong on that? Well, I don't think it's uncorrectable. I think you bring up a fantastic point that probably isn't talked enough about is that like in life, right?

We're all looking for ease and we're looking for comfort. We're trying to make as much money right now so we can retire early. Professional athletes are looking for the best fit for ease and for comfort. The problem with that is most of us are at our best when things are uncomfortable and when things are hard. And I think most of Tom's career, although wildly successful, the greatest of all time, He was surrounded in an environment where he was forced to be uncomfortable and things were very hard. The accountability was hard. The expectations were hard. Winning every week in practice was hard.

One of Belichick's geniuses is to make everybody on edge, quote unquote, uncomfortable all the time. And I think as you get older in football and in life, as you seek ease, as you seek comfort, it actually works against you in terms of productivity. most of us are far more productive when there is pressure, when there is hard things, when you are forced at the edge of uncomfortable. I've been saying for years. The edge of uncomfortable is where you find greatness. And if you talk to some most wildly successful people in the world, in business, in whatever

it is, they will reiterate that. That it's when you're uncomfortable, when you're challenged, when you're stretched, when things are brutally hard is when your genius comes out. That's where your greatness comes out. And I think we're losing that. a little bit with Tom Brady, as well as a bunch of other things. This is not just a Tom issue. There's a lot of things going on in Tampa, but I think you bring up a great point.

I think you mentioned LeBron James. The easier it gets for him, the less successful, less productive they are. So I think this carries over to a lot of walks of life. You know, it's interesting. I've said this before about Aaron. Fit in life is really important, right? Like very few people, I always use Bill O'Reilly's career. he was a guy that bounced around the business,

and then he found this conservative kingmaker and Roger Ailes, and for 20 years he ran cable. He didn't get more talented. He found a perfect fit for his voice, and I've told many people in broadcasting that. And then I look at Aaron Rogers, I don't love this fit for him. He is not a mentor.

He's not a father. He doesn't have the patience of a Trent Dilfer, somebody that's got kids. As you age and you had kids, and you have to take the dog for a while, It's a lot of sacrificing. Aaron's brilliant. This team needs love and patience and no eye rolling and no snarky.

It needs a big arm around it and go back to the kids. And I'm not blaming Aaron. He's not built for this crew. He's not. And you're seeing it on display. And it's easy for me to bang on Aaron. I don't think he's washed. I don't think he's less talented.

But I think you're seeing a 38-year-old single guy that's got no patience for these kids mistakes. That's what it looks like to be on television every week. Listen, you know I hate agreeing with you constantly, but I totally agree with you. He needs a bunch of gray hairs on his team. He's a guy that wants a bunch of wily old vets. They don't have to be the fastest. They don't be the strongest. They probably walk with a limp. You know, they don't practice on Wednesdays. They walk through on Thursdays, but they're gamers. Like that, he's at his most success with that synergistic relationship with veterans that think and act like him.

I mean, in Crunch Time yesterday, they're using the running back as their vertical threat. Like, he wants the age tied in. He wants the Randall Cobb. You know, I think this, the Devante Adams thing, you can't talk enough about how much it hurt losing him, because not only is he wildly talented, but he was a sagey old bet. Like, I agree with you. Aaron doesn't have, frankly, he shouldn't have to. And I'll defend Aaron here.

He shouldn't have to be babysat. That's right. shouldn't have to be in this position. Like, I'm pro Aaron Rogers on this. Like, go get him some dudes that are vets that have been there and done it, that know how to make big plays and big moments that he can just on the fly that you can draw some stuff up in the dirt on the sideline and then go execute it. That's what Aaron Rogers needs. He doesn't need a developmental squad that he's asked to put the Superman cape on and go win games in NFL. Like, I'm totally pro wearing on this, but I think you're right.

Fit is a huge thing, and the organization has to recognize this. We have one of the greatest football players that's ever walked the planet. What can we do to support him besides just drafting a bunch of talented guys? Let's go find them dudes that are long in the tooth that know how to win football games. Yeah. So, you know, it's really interesting. I always thought Tony Romo was really gifted. And when Burrow came out, I said, I see Tony Romo.

He's going to make some mistakes. Escapeability, better than average arm, and there's just a magic to him. Now, the public didn't love Romo. They love Burrow. But it is interesting. He's not as big. He's not as spectacular as Josh Allen. He doesn't have the armed talent of Mahomes.

He looks like a lot of guys in this league, physically, size. But there is something about Burrow. And I don't know if it's upstairs. his demeanor, his calm, you've been doing this your whole life. He didn't have the biggest arm. You're not the most mobile guy. He's kind of skinny. What's the magic with?

How do you explain how this is the fifth time he's thrown for four football fields in a game? He'll have another 10 in his career or 20. What is it with him? He's the modern day Brady Marino, in my opinion. He's more talented. He has more horsepower than people give him credit for. However, what makes him special is his edge. Yes, he's wildly accurate.

Yes, he processes at a massively high level. But he's at his best when his backs against the wall. He's at his best with a chip on his shoulder. He's at his best when he's got this edge to him that Marino had, that Brady's had forever. He just has the it. I don't know if there's a better way of saying it. Like, we did a documentary a few years ago called the It Factory,

going around the country and identifying the it in quarterbacks. and Burrow is the headliner for that. He just has it, along with a lot of talent. Yeah. But to me, like you're looking for comparables. It's Marino, probably a little less armed talent than Marino. It's Brady maybe a little more at this stage of their career, a little more athleticism than Brady.

But what made Marino and Brady even more spectacular, more great than just their talent and their football ability was their edge, was their it? and Joe Burrow may have as much it as anybody in the NFL. So, you know, listen, Peyton Manning's rookie year, he threw a lot of picks. Joe Burrow had some ugly ones in his first year. You go back in the annals of the NFL. Year one for a rookie quarterback can be ugly. I don't see the special with Pickett, but he does like sitting in the pocket.

He's not afraid of that. He's pretty good in the money pocket. He's big enough. He's strong enough. I don't know what to make of him. He had a lot of college starts. You know, I'll watch Justin Fields, and I'm like, I don't think he's comfortable in the pocket.

I'll watch Kenny Pickett and I'll go he's flawed, but he's totally comfortable in the pocket. Last night he had a couple ugly ones. He could have had double the interceptions. A lot of them dropped. What do you make of what you see so far? I like his stuff. We just had the It conversation.

I don't want to use that again, but I like his stuff. I like his presence. I do think he plays the game at a high level for a young player. He's going to make some silly mistakes. I do agree with you that he lacks explosive qualities, like wow, sizzle factors. I do think the small hands, listen,

people make a joke about this. I do think the small hands is a thing. It's not the big thing, but it's a thing. You saw as the ball got a little bit of moisture in the air, the ball is coming out a little funky, lost a little juice. I think it would affect to it as well.

I think he lacks these glamorous qualities that people rave about that they want their quarterback to have. But he also has these, substantive qualities that win football games. And I think he's with a perfect organization that does have patience. That's going through a tough stretch right now, but does have some patience. They're going to develop him well.

They're going to surround him with good people. They're going to manage him like they manage Ben, his first couple years. And I think you're going to find one of the great winners in the NFL if the Steelers maintain their course like they have for the past, is it 18 or 19 years with Tomlin. I think they continued that philosophy. organizationally, they have the guy that's going to win a ton of games for them. All right. Good stuff for them.

Fair is fair. So, you know, the Raiders in Arizona, when I watch them play, they've got too much offense in an offensive league not to win some games. You can watch Arizona in the Raiders. There are speed everywhere and Derek Carr and Kyler. You know, two offensive coaches, I don't know if they're great coaches. Those teams are going to win games. They're going to win. In this league, they got too much talent, not to win games.

Speaking of speed, to go back to the Miami point you made earlier, so Tua looked incredible on the first couple drives. Sure. 13-0-0. You're thinking this is going to be a bloodbath. I'm going to turn the game off. What happened the rest of the game for Tua? He tried to throw four interceptions, Colin. Off script.
