In a little over an hour. Blazing 5. One hour from now. I love my picks. I like making picks. Even if they're trash, I love making football picks. I've got my blazing. It's a bounceback week.

I'm feeling very good about it, very, very good about it. J-MAC is joining us. So I sat there last night, and I watched every second of that game. And I honestly, very, off the first drive, the Titans methodical first drive, I'm like, oh, they just, they got on a plane. They were going to come up here. This was a work trip, and they are going to push Green Bay around, fly home, and first drive of the game by Tennessee, you're like, Oh, yeah, we know how this game's going to look. I felt that 10 minute into the game.

Coaching mismatch, Vrable and company, that's what they do as underdogs. Pushed around Rogers and LaFleur. It's over for Green Bay, Colin. Yeah. Season's over for the Packers. Well, the Titans, we don't talk about them much, especially leading a show. I think they're the most resourceful team in the NFL. They don't have a lot of weapons.

A rookie wide receiver who's growing into it, Robert Woods, runs nice routes, blocks, back they love and one tight end. But nobody gets more out of their roster, which is constantly plagued by injuries because they are so physical, nobody gets more. The Titans play like Mike Vrable looks, tough, loyal, physical, and the Titans play like Mike Vrable played. Smart, resilient, resourceful. He didn't have a great vertical shuttle time speed.

nobody got more out of their talent than Mike Vrable, and no team in this league gets more out of their talent. This is a team that forced Kansas City to overtime at Arrowhead Stadium and didn't get a first down in the second half. They squeeze that orange for every bit of juice. Then there's the Packers. Hipster quarterback, young, good looking cool coach, zero tenacity.

Zero resilience. I'm not sure they trust each other. I mean, can you imagine Aaron Rogers coming up to Mike Vrable on the sidelines, condescendingly barking at him? Nah. But Aaron knows he can get away with it. Deep down, Matt Lafleur's been walking on eggshells trying to balance Aaron's ego and temperament and the front office of the Packers that sometimes quietly resents him.

Aaron's at the stage of his life. I get it. He's rich. He's getting older. He's at the stage. his life. I'm going to do what I'm going to do. You're not going to tell me what I'm going to do all the time. So much of what Green Bay is about is superficial, surface level nonsense. There's no foxhole guys there, especially not Aaron Rogers. There's no real belief system. They don't do anything particularly

well. What are their values? What is their core? Who are they? I don't know. Once again, the special teams, the defense underperformed. I mean, the offense has young wide receivers. We predicted it would be rough early. It wouldn't have been as rough had Aaron committed to the offseason. But I mean, what are they? I know exactly what the Titans are. And there may be limitations when they play Kansas City or a Cincinnati.

But God, you're going to get everything they have. They're always going to come out prepared. They're going to punch you right in the forehead. that team got in a flight, headed up to Wisconsin to kick some ass, getting a plane and come home. And that's exactly what they did. And Green Bay looked cold with the hipster quarterback and the really cool coach. I'll ask the question again, what do they do well?

Oh, I forgot. Beat the lions and the bears the last two years. Every time Green Bay is in crisis, he's in a tough spot. They curl up. Tamp in the playoffs. Last year, San Francisco in the playoffs, season on the line last night. That's the performance. Season on the line, that's the performance.

Tennessee, if their season was on the line, and Green Bay flew down to Nashville, and Green Bay was better, I guarantee you this, win or lose, Green Bay would go home with a bloody lip. Tennessee would fight and scratch and claw and give you everything they had. Now, Aaron has pivoted to the, I can live without football. Hey, I'm going to disappear a little bit in the summer. Has that right?

Absolutely earned the right to have a life beyond football. But man, when you put those two teams on the field, the fact that this was the season for Green Bay, And that was the effort. That thing was over first drive. First drive. Tennessee, seven yards, six yards, eight yards. Burks, up the field, seven yards, eight yards, touchdown.

Thanks for flying United. Matt Lefleur after. Obviously, extremely disappointed right now to put on a performance like that. I just, I don't even know what to say. There was nothing like a few days ago, and that's why you're only as good as your last game. And you got to, every time you step out on that field, you got to go out and do it. We're not in a very good position right now, that's for sure. Like I told the guys, like there's no margin for error, period.

Well, there was no margin for error before the game. Now the season's over. That speech should have happened before the game. because it's over. So during the game, while it was being broadcast on one of them streaming services, looked very cold, by the way. Didn't seem to bother the Titans. LeBron James had an alternate streaming show.

It's called The Shop. And I think he was trying to be clever. LeBron was trying to be little passive aggressive. LeBron was just throwing this idea out there during his shop show with Maverick Carter. He threw this out there about Aaron Rogers and the Packer. We got a transcendent franchise player like Aaron and a quarterback. Obviously, we know the quarterback position in NFL, you know, besides if you have like a monster defense in, you know what I'm saying, or detackle like obviously Aaron Donald. That's the most important position in the NFL.

So while you surround that, when you got the pits to maximize what he can do it. Are we still talking football or are we talking basketball? Okay, I just want to make sure you wasn't talking about it. I mean, it definitely translates. Basically saying if you got a guy like Aaron, you should give him all the support. poor he can have. LeBron, there is no real move to be made because LeBron, as much as I like you, you chose Westbrook.

Front office didn't want it. You knew Westbrook was a terrible player off the ball. You're too smart not to know that. You chose Anthony Davis, although he could never stay healthy and was considered around the league by executives I trust before he became a Laker as soft. You chose a poorly run franchise for a decade in the Lakers. You chose a weak, young roster, and you chose business over basketball. For the record, your business is crushing.

Everything you touch in business is crushing. The production company, the pizza chain, all that stuff crushes. But you, you, when you came to Los Angeles, LeBron, you chose wealth, money, and business. And you have crushed in all. of those. You just got to own it now. You got to own that. LeBron's not good at own and stuff. He can be a little bit of a passive aggressive finger pointer. Michael Jordan chose wealth and power with the Wizards. How did it end? Kobe wanted to be the highest paid

player in the NBA with his last contract with the Lakers. How good was the team? Aaron Rogers wants to be the highest paid quarterback in the league. Yeah. They could sure use a few more good players, all choices we all make in life have a ripple effect. LeBron had multiple suitors outside of Cleveland. At the time, Houston wanted him, Sixers wanted him. There was a lot of teams with a lot of good players that wanted him. And he chose the Laker brand, wealth, power, and money. And he's crushed it.

He's going to be a billionaire, if not already. I mean, he has crushed it. everything he touches. But the basketball part's embarrassing. It's a bad front office. No reason to take a cheap shot on ownership, but it's not a great front office. It's a bad roster. There's no bench.

They don't have really versatile wing defenders. Not a lot of shooters. Other than that, it's wonderful. But what you choose will have a ripple effect. And your basketball career right now is largely, frankly, irrelevant. It's irrelevant. All right, good stuff today. Kobe Jones will join us from guitar.

I can't wait. I think J-Mack, you and I, maybe football guys, but if there was an event in sports that we love, it's March Madness and it's the World Cup. And we get March Madness every single year. To be clear, 84 is big to me not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack, so I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Then you're finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people.

So there is good news for the Packers. Their offensive line, I thought, held up pretty well last night and gave Aaron Rogers a lot of time to throw. He did not play particularly well. And I also thought they stopped Derek Henry from any of the big runs he usually delivers.

So it wasn't as though there weren't moments and glimmers. but Aaron Rogers did not play particularly well. He looked cold. He missed some easy throws for Aaron Rogers. He was outplayed by Ryan Tannahill. I'm being as honest as I can. He was outplayed by Ryan Tannahill. And there were some boo birds.

Aaron Rogers was asked about that after the game. It's not often you get booed. What's the like hearing those? Not you personally, but as a group. Interesting. It's best I can give you. very vague as he is with his retirement and his summer plans very vague nobody knows where they stand there are teams that struggle and i see light at the end of the tunnel let me give you three

when the bengal struggled early this year i said hold on burl's going to get healthy good second half against the cowboys they're going to be fine when the viking struggled last year i said just they're going to get an offensive coach there's light at the end of the tunnel the vikings will be fine with Kirk Cousins. When Miami pivoted to Mike McDaniel, I said, Tua's going to have a good year. You're going to have a new dilemma now. How much do you pay Tua? So teams can be losing or struggling, and I can see bingles already this year, Vikings last

year, Miami pivoting to an offensive coach thinking, oh, this Tua thing is going to work a little bit now. With the Packers, I don't see a ton of light at the end of the tunnel. The division's getting much better. Minnesota and Chicago are better teams today than yesterday. teams today than last year, and they both have what appears to be an excellent young coach. Aaron Rogers' cap hit is incredibly punitive. Limits the flexibility of the franchise going forward.

Green Bay is still obviously not a real hot, free agent market. A lot of dudes don't want to play there. And frankly, Matt LaFleur, I think, is an average head coach. I do, and I've been saying it for years. Aaron's talented, but he's 38, about to be 39. He's corkier than he's ever been, less committed in the office. season than he's ever been, and he's more expensive than he's ever been. What Green Bay needed this year with all these young receivers was Aaron Rogers MVP level, and he has just been

okay. You get out of your career, whatever it is, what you put into it. It was always my knock on Big Ben. He was super talented, marginally committed in the offseason, marginally committed to an elite audible system, and he left a lot of wins on the table. And Aaron Rogers in the last couple of years is just not as committed in the offseason, not as committed when it comes to his long-range plans after last night. What do you think about getting booed? Interesting. Everything with him is vague.

You don't get concrete answers. Are you playing next year? What are you doing in the summer? Can we trust you to work with the cap and your contract? What do you think about the reaction? It's always like, well, interesting. I don't know. maybe psychedelic to anyone.

You got to give people answers. It's why Devonte Adams left. He didn't know what Aaron's plans were. Concrete. Feet on the ground. Give us an answer. There's a real argument to be made, and I would make it this morning, that it is time to bench Aaron. Keep him healthy.

His thumb's been bothering him all year. Let's get him healthy. Let's figure out if Jordan Love can play. If Jordan Love can't you lose games, what do you care? You're not winning the division. How many games are you back already? you get a better draft pick. I mean, Green Bay needs an infusion of talent and cheap talent,

because Aaron's probably not going to be taking a pay cut. But they also need from Aaron a commitment. How long you plan? Can we work with your contract? Do we have to bring Randall Cobb back because you like him? You got to give people answers, or you leave them guessing, like Devante Adams, who left, and now you don't. don't have a number one receiver.

J-Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. One of my favorites stats dating back to this off-season, Colin, was, you know, LaFleur went 13 and 3 years in a row. He's a good coach. Why isn't he getting respect?

They don't look very good this year. I mean, you can't pin it all on Rogers. LaFleur has not been, he just looks like he doesn't have the answers. Okay, let me ask you this. Which coach won a Super Bowl? was it McCarthy or Lefleur? Which coach actually advanced a couple of different times in the playoffs? So, you know, by the way, Aaron's been gifted two offensive coaches.

He got tired of one, and he's not winning enough with the other. Maybe it's a little on Aaron. Maybe it's not always somebody else's. The only concern here, Colin, is we like to talk Rogers on this show, specifically you. What's going to happen now that they're irrelevant now to the playoff chase? Oh, Aaron will never be irrelevant as long as he's in the league. All right, let's get to a very relevant team, Dak Prescott and the D. Dallas Cowboys, a huge game against the Vikings on Sunday.

Cannot wait to watch this. Minnesota's won seven in a row. Okay. Cowboys, brutal loss to the Packers. And I will point this out, you know, Dallas loses this game. Suddenly six and four, Washington's right behind him. Dallas has a Thanksgiving game against the Giants. Dallas has lost three straight Thanksgiving games.

Now, this is a sneaky big game for the Cowboys. Yeah, Minnesota's got some breathing room in their division. Oh, yeah. A lot. games. Dallas, it's not the season, but it could change the season for the worse. Because now you've got the Giants in Washington resourcefully winning games. And Philadelphia, you know is going to Indy in a bad mood after being humiliated at home on Monday night. I don't know if they'll win by the spread, but I think Philly will win.

So if you start looking at the schedules this week, this is big for Dallas. This is a big one, yes, no doubt about it. Deck Prescott says, this is just like any other game. Hmm. This is a playoff game. I mean, you got a team that's, what, one loss, right? Yeah, and then us coming in, coming off of one, we've got, we know what this means. We know what this means in the division.

We know what this means in the NFC. So it's about going up there, putting our best foot forward to make sure that we put our best performance out there and just show the team that we are in all aspects of our game. Are you picking this game in about 30 minutes? One of my favorite picks of the weekend. It's a weird card. I irrationally love so many games this weekend. It's very strange.

I was talked off of betting the Eagles. Eagles are a six and a half point favorite on the road. Whoever talked you out of that, you need to stop talking to them. Apologies to that, whoever that fight. Because I love the Eagles. That gentleman or woman. And I was talked out of it. And I think my heart's telling me, Philly rolls and crushes the Colts.

I was talked out of it. So that's not part of my blazing five. So if you're a data guy and, you know, the sun rises and sets with the numbers, you have to take Dallas and that. this game. Absolutely have to. They're a better team, according to every single number. One of my blazing five picks. Let's move on. What are we doing next? Oh, 49ers.

You know, you love this roster. I mean, I don't know if you want to give Shanahan and Lynch credit. Jimmy G. The defense getting healthier. They do trail the Seahawks in the NFC West. But Steve Young, everybody's favorite former quarterback thinks Sanfran is about to go on a roll. We're going to end their season. We're going to start by the Cardinals

this weekend. We're going to dig a grave for the Cardinals and put them in it this weekend. That's what I'm saying we're going to start being the grave diggers, okay? So that's how we're wrong. I just watched the league. There are some good teams and maybe some great ones coming, but I feel like we're one of them. So it's like, you know, get me in the mix. Get me in the mix. And we'll, we'll take our shots. Boy, Steve Young going way out on a limb there saying the Niners. I never, I think the Niners can win every weekend. I don't necessarily love them as a cover team because I do think sometimes they're a little tied to the play sheet. I told you this. If the Bill's offense and the Niners' offense

got married, had a baby, it would be a perfect offense. Buffalo's too loose. San Francisco's too rigid. If I could just get a little of both combined, you'd have the best offense in league history. But I do think they'll win this game. But they tend to, you know, when they get a lead, Buffalo should do what they do. When San Francisco gets a lead, they shut it down and run and eat clock. Buffalo gets a lead, and Green Bay and Minnesota are lifeless, and they give them life by making mistakes. So I feel like this team, I wish they had just a little of the bills temperament, but of course,

the bills have Josh Allen. So San Fran is about to get hot. I don't know if you've looked at the schedule. So they have the game in Mexico this week, right, against Arizona. I don't care if it's Colt McCoy, Kyler Murray, Bill Murray, they're going to smash the Cardinals. They're not good. After that, Colin, four of their next five games are at home. Saints, that's a win.

Dolphins, I think that's a win. The McDaniel versus Shanahan versus Tampa. They get Tampa at home. A trip up north to Seattle. That's huge probably for the division. And then versus Washington. I think they should win at least four of those games. San Fran's got an outside shot.

Outside shot at the number two seat. Behind the Eagles. You know who's liked them all year? If the Vikings slip up. Yeah, one of your rare good calls. All right, we'll go to the final story. Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert. Listen, this is a really good game Sunday afternoon.

Kansas City's falling apart. The receiver room is hurt. Although MVS got the word he's going to play, it sounds like. So that's a big get back. We're seeing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams practicing. I'm stunned by that, but I will reserve judgment. You know, it's still only Friday. In the Herbert versus Mahomes discussion,

Justin Herbert was asked, you know, about the exceptional talent in Patrick Mahomes, and here's what he said. He's a special arm talent, man. And he throws some passes that I don't think anyone can throw in this league. And that includes myself. I mean, he has a cannon for an arm. You watch it on film every week because we like play similar opponents. And there's some throws you just kind of shake your head because they're that special.

And so I understand it'll be a great challenge for us as a team to go up against the chargers and the talent that they have over there. And so how can we match that intensity? How can we match that talent and go out there and win a football game is what we have to focus on? Who you got in this one? I think it's very close. I think it's a very competitive game. Lines coming down. And I love when these two teams play.

And you know what I also love? Mahomes is so great. He's so respectful. Good ambassador for the league. For the league. He's so engaged. Every time he goes to the mic, he's saying something nice about somebody. The NFL is so lucky to have that kid as the face of it.

And they're also lucky that Justin Herbert threw that pick six in the earlier meeting. That's the only reason the Chiefs won that game. Here's the number for you. Justin Herbert is an underdog of three or more. Seven and one against a spread. He's an underdog, I believe, of five Sunday afternoon. They've been banged up all year. They've got to make the playoffs, Jay Mack.

This coaching staff, you've got to make the playoffs. Maybe missing the playoffs would be better. No more Brandon's day. That's discussed regularly among my buddies. You know anybody who might want the job? Not going to get into that. Everybody? Yeah, that's right.

The answer is right. Everybody. Jay Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. for stopping by. The herd line news. So reporter Albert Breer, who's on our show from time to time, basically spoke on early edition.

Is that a podcast or something? He was saying Mack Jones, sophomore season, the quarterback sophomore season. He said he talked to multiple executives in the league. And they said, quote, they have their doubts about Mac Jones. So we do have the sound. Here is Albert Breer. I feel like there's some doubts about the quarterback now, too. And it's interesting because I, you know, I wrote this thing yesterday about Justin Fields and where he's at.

And so last night I asked around. I texted a half dozen execs and said, who'd be the second quarterback to go in the 2021 drafts? You redrafted him now. Four of them said Fields. One of them said he stick to his guns on Trey Lance because he hadn't seen him yet enough. And then another one said Wilson. None of them said Mack. So let's go back.

I mean, I think what I'm about to say, we all know it's close. to correct. I think the league has changed in the last six to seven years. It's just more offensive. The rules have all changed. It's really become quarterback-centric. So let's go back seven draft classes for all the first round quarterbacks. All of them, there they are from 2016. Now, there's a handful of quarterbacks who I would call hyper-athletic. And that would be Carson Wentz. These guys are hyper athletic. Wence, Mahomes, Deshawn Watson, Josh Allen, Lamar, Kyler, Trey Lance, and Justin Fields. A lot of success stories. Not all, but a lot of success stories. These guys are more athletic than the history of football generally gives us. The second group would be

people that are certainly capable of mobility, some more than others. Trabisky, Darnold, Daniel Jones, Burrough, Tua, Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Kenny Pickett, Zach Wilson. They're not quite the previous group, but these guys can move. And in that seven years, in the first round, there have been four pure pocket guys. Gough, Rosen, Haskins, and Mack Jones. Hmm. It seems that the league is changing, and what a shock. Defensive-minded Bill Belichick, defensive leaning New England is not ahead of the

curve. They're behind it. If I can figure that out in a 90-minute. minute morning prep. New England couldn't before they drafted Mac Jones. Folks, it's not hard to figure out. Having a quarterback that is at least mobile is a second playbook. It's a second playbook.

The hyperathletic guys are crushing and many of the very mobile guys are crushing. None of the pocket, all they got guys. It ain't working. The league has changed. And so this is what I've said about Belichick. This organization has no feel for offense the minute Josh McDaniels left. They've got a defensive coordinator as an offensive coordinator. They cannot draft and develop wide receiver talent.

And instead of moving up in the draft like Kansas City did to get to Mahomes or like many teams have done to get their star quarterback, not New England, they stayed steady and took the kind of quarterback in the last seven years that can't take you to the next level, especially with a defensive mindset in the room. I've said before, certain people adapt and evolve. New England does not have any feel for offense. All right.

That's on the set and guitar. We spent every available dollar. Let's go to Jeff Schwartz, Fox Sports Analyst, former NFL offensive linemen, eight years in the league. You know, it's interesting I'm watching last night. And as an offensive lineman, I think you'll get this, is that you become your coach. Mike Vrable was smart, resilient, tough, resourceful, and physical.

That's who he was. And that's who Tennessee is. And Green Bay's got the hipster coach and the hipster quarterback. And I've been knocking on this for several years. There are certain guys in life that are foxhole guys. They are with you when the going gets rough. And then there are certain guys that you would never trust in a foxhole. They're fun guys.

They're cool guys. And I watched those two teams on the field last night. And I watched the team that was incredible. incredibly resilient. And Green Bay, you know what, Jeff, you know what they look like? They look cold. Like, I mean, seriously, I just felt like, I don't know, I just don't buy into the culture of Green Bay right now at all.

What did you see? Well, go back a couple weeks, there's a clip of Rable in the tunnel welcoming back their center who kind of played through injuries in a game, and he gave him a big hug and they were both kind of in tears. Like, this is why, as you said, players like playing for Vrable. is a tough-minded individual. He's a strong-willed individual. And the team plays that way, right?

The team plays very physical on the offensive defensive lines. They're very physical on defense. They're very smart situations. Yes, their player faked an injury, right? But it ended up killing the momentum with the Packers. Like, it's all kind of game planned into what they do. And they win with the quarterback that's just like okay, right? And they went on the road in Lambo and won this game very impressively.

So they do not get enough credit. Like the way they play football, they held the Chiefs to 20 points in overtime at Arrowhead. they're just a very tough-minded team and they're a tough team to playing the playoffs because of this. You know, and I said there's an argument to be made that, and it's not a shot at Aaron, is that you bench him, let's not get him hurt,

season's over, I got to see if Jordan Love can play. If he can't, we get a better draft pick. This team needs more cheap talent because of Aaron's contract. They need more players. They need to be at top of the drafts, not at the bottom of the first, or middle of the first. would you consider going to Aaron and just saying, dude, season's over.

Minnesota, if they beat Dallas. I mean, the season's over after last night. We're going to see if Jordan can play. Would you think about it? I mean, you just sign Aaron Rogers to a deal that says, hey, we don't think Jordan Love can play, right? So if you do that, then you're basically admitting, A, maybe we paid Rogers for no reason, or B, maybe we want to trade you or C, we just want to get rid of you. And what if Jordan Love plays well, obviously, then Rogers is 100% gone.

but if Love doesn't play well, then Rogers basically owns a team for two more years as he's their quarterback. It's kind of a knowing situation for the Packers because they went and got a quarterback in Love who probably isn't good enough to be their starting quarterback moving forward. They've now paid Rogers who's not playing as well this season, and they're sort of stuck. Look, they're free to go test out Jordan Love. I think when you do that, you tell Rogers, you might tell them, hey, we're doing this for this season only, but you're basically admitting that the Rogers thing is done. No matter how Jordan Love plays, Rogers, we're going to find you a new home next season. So it's interesting. You played for Andy Reed. The chiefs face the Chargers. Chargers have actually, Justin Herbert's played very well against them. And I think here's what's amazing about Kansas City. In three of the last four years, they've had to rebuild their defense, their O-line, and their receiving core. And they do it in four months in the off-season. They bring in Tony. It already works. Can you explain Andy Reed?

By the way, the bills have been trying for four years, Jeff, to build a run game. They can't. He rebuilds the O-line in the receiving core, eight, ten new players back-to-back years. What's his, what, he's a Sven Gali? What is it? What's the sauce? What is it? Well, I think there's no ego to what he does, right?

And he tries to tailor his offense to his personnel. And we saw, obviously, the Super Bowl against Tampa Bay, the offense line just didn't hold up. So they went out and got two offense line. in a free agency. They went on, got two offensive linemen in the draft. Then you see, okay, well, Tyree Kill, okay, we have a price. We're going to pay, we're going to pay no more than that. All right, Tyree Kill, you're gone. Let's go find ourselves some more pieces in offense.

They find the right pieces for their offense. But also, let's not forget, when you have Pat Mahomes, this is all possible, right? Because early in that game on Sunday against Jacksonville, he had 15 completions, three touchdowns and nine different receivers that he targeted. Yeah. And he's finding different ways to get Tony involved, to get Noah Gray involved, the backup tied in, to get Watson involved, or fifth wide receivers. receiver. You're able to do this when you have a quarterback like Mahomes, who really is able

to work with anyone. The offense is in a way where they kind of tell you what to do each play. It's a very verbiage offense, a big worded offense. It's done that way. So Cadarious Tony, hey, you're the Z. We'll tell you exactly what you on this play. I think Andy Reid makes it easy for his players because of the way he coaches and tell his offense too. What they do? Well, Brett, Veach, look, the defense of stuff he did, obviously that's not an Andy Reed thing. They built that team up on defense, right? They got very younger. Tyrone Matthew, sorry, you're gone. We're going to get Justin Reed.

We're going to draft a cornerback. We're going to draft a past rusher. We're going to draft a whole new linebacking core over the last three years. They've really hidden all their draft picks. Jeff, this is something that you would have a good sense of, and I would not because you were in locker rooms for eight years. Your brother, obviously, a Pro Bowl player as well in the NFL. I've got now four, five, six stories about Russell Wilson. X teammates.

He's changing audibles. He's calling Seattle plays. And I always feel sort of. like, I can fix bad and I can protect good. I don't know what to do with strange. Some guys, like this thing in Denver is getting strange. Like, I can fix bad. But you got players now saying he's doing audibles from Seattle.

Nobody understands it. You have to go through his manager to talk to him. Did you ever have guys in the locker room? I mean, I understand quarterbacks are stars. Is this relatable at all? Did you ever go through anything like this? I've played with bad quarterbacks, but they're not for this reason. They're just bad quarterbacks.

It just happens, right? I think, you know, the thing with Russ is you pay him a certain amount of money to be a certain type of guy, right? I mean, that's the thing about the NFL in sports. Like you pay certain players to kind of do their job at that certain level, right? So when you pay Russell Wilson all that money, you expect him to be above and beyond kind of where everyone else is that for expectations. It hasn't lived up that this year. I do not know why he's calling the wrong audibles. I can't explain that to you, Colin.

Like, he's been this offense since March. He shouldn't know what to do. The players had a closed-door meeting with Russell this week and said, hey, man, like, we've got to get it together. Like, we've got to make this push now, and we've got to figure out how we're going to make this work because it's not working at the moment. And it feels like a place where guys are not happy to be right now.

And look, when you also make that much money, too, the blame kind of goes everywhere else, right? Goes to the offensive line, goes to the wide receivers, goes to play calling. but at some point it's the quarterback, right? And he just has not seen the field properly this year. The audible thing is so strange to me, right? He defaulted to his old way because he doesn't know the new way or maybe in stressful

situations. He can't handle it, which is odd because the rest of his career is handled it just fine. So something's just not happening in Denver right now. And I'm not sure he has the right coach to figure out either, right? A first-time head coach who was not a very successful officer coordinator when he called the plays, not in Green Bay. He wasn't calling the plays. And so I'm not sure the coaching staff is able to get him.

Add his funk as well. Finally, you host a Pact 12 today on Sirius XM. You played at Oregon. You know it well. USCU, CLA. It's the biggest, the championship of Los Angeles, biggest meeting in 10 years. How surprised are you that Lincoln Riley took over,

as you well know, an awful mess, four and eight, not very talented, terrible momentum, had to redo the staff, playbook, roster. How surprised? are you, they're a play from unbeaten? I'm not terribly surprised.

If I looked at their schedule in the preseason, I thought they were lose to Oregon State. They won that game by three, and I thought they would lose to Utah. Otherwise, I thought they were in the rest of their games. So kind of at where I thought they would be. And there was no question when he brought in Caleb Williams and when he brought in Mario Addison and, excuse me,

Jordan Addison and Mario Williams. He brought in Dye, unfortunately, he's hurt for the rest of the season. You know, he brought in really good peace in office. They were going to be good in offense. The question I had was defensively. right? And defensively, I think we're seeing right now, it's just kind of not good enough. And that might get them through the Bruin game. I might get him through

another day. I might get him through Utah, Oregon, in the Pato Championship game. But that's where he's got to fix next year, right? To figure out how to get the defense kind of just better, right? It wasn't great to Oklahoma. That's my concern is like, what different will you do at USC? But I had no doubt offensively they were going to be good. I mean, his track record has shown it.

Caleb Williams is a great quarterback. They brought in all those new guys. And I'm curious this weekend. Look, UCLA, take away the Arizona. game. Yeah, that was a bad game. They're looking ahead. That, to me, has no indicative of this game. Like, you're going to win the trenches. Like, they're going to come after you in the trenches. They're going to run the ball. They're going to try to rush the passer, and they're going to try to

avoid giving up big plays, which kind of the way the Bruin defense plays. So, you know, it's an interesting game, right? UCLA's chirping a bunch of calling this week. ST's kind of been quiet and calm and under control. That's, I think, a Lincoln Riley thing from them as well, just kind of business-like. And I can't wait, man. It's the biggest game, as you

said, in 10 years of this robbery. Jeff Schwartz, great seeing you, bud. It's on the first thing's first set. You'll see him there probably. Good seeing you, man. Yeah, take care. Thank you. You bet.

Whenever you're near a team, you get all the little odds and ends, the one thing USC has done really smartly. So they had three Arizona, Cal, Colorado in a row. Bad pro, you know, not very good right now. So they arrested a lot of people. So USC, Jordan Addison, sit this out. Mario Williams receiver said it out. Gentry linebacker sit it out.

Andrew Vorhees, All-American Guard, Sid it out. USC got very lucky before the UCLA game. They had three highly winnable, heavily favored games where they could rest four or five of their All-American level players. Their best linebacker, Eric Gentry, is back this week. Their best receiver, Jordan Addison, will play 60 snaps this week. Their best offensive lineman, Borhees, left-guard, All-American, suddenly back this week.

USC has very patiently and smartly. My takeaway. Hidden. Some of the playbook kept the offense mostly very simple, played defensively some backups and spots, give guys some work. Shocking this week, like four key players,

are all rested, healthy, and back. USC saw this puppy a month ago, looked at that schedule and said, rest Addison, rest Mario Williams, Andrew Voorhees. They've actually played around with the offensive line almost for next year. USC is the, they are ready to go. They are ready to go. All right.
