Here we go. It is a Thursday night. Thursday day. Live in L.A., it's the herd. Wherever you may be, however you may be listening. Thursday night will be big tonight. Packers, Titans, Packers season. Essentially, if you look at their record, you look at their schedule, their season comes down tonight. We have the Warrior story as well. That will be our second story to start the show today. Warriors are really struggling. They are O. and eight on the road. I watched the first half last night. Went to bed early last night. Watched the first half. They're not playing a ton of defense. There's a lot of different issues there. So defending NFL champs are in the tank. Our defending NBA champs are reeling completely. And that's kind of where we are today. Yeah, there's one easy solution for the Warriors. His initials are Kevin Durant. That's the solution? Yes, sir. I think it's getting close to KD time back to Golden State, Colin. young guys, Clay Thompson.

Wow. It's interesting. Spicy to start the show, huh? It is. All right. So let's start with tonight, the Green Bay Packers. So for the last 20-something years, they've been in that Super Bowl bubble. I mean, there was that last Aaron Rogers McCarthy year.

You know, Aaron got hurt. Record was kind of bad. But Green Bay has been in the top of this league hovering around the top, a Super Bowl team kind of around there, right? Four like, feels like forever. They go fart Aaron Rogers. I mean, Aaron's first year wasn't great. Last year with McCarthy, not great.

And here we are now. And this morning, they're four and six. And let's look at the Green Bay Packer's schedule. They are not going to win at Philadelphia, and they are not going to win at Miami. I know, cheeseheads, you also thought they were going to win the division this year. They're not winning those games. So they have to win tonight.

And if they win tonight, beat the Bears at Chicago, won't be easy, beat the Rams, beat Minnesota, even though at home, not easy. Better team this year, better roster, and beat Detroit at home. Detroit just went to Chicago and won. They can score points. So I'm saying basically, if they win tonight and win the games that won't be easy but should, could with Aaron Rogers, they are at best. they are at best, 9 and 8. But in the NFC, you may,

we talked about this yesterday, you may be able to sneak in to the wild card with that. Maybe. So tonight is everything for the Packers. Oh, by the way, the Titans have announced, multiple starters are not playing. Just like last week, multiple starters not playing. Add in the fact that's at Lambo,

add in the fact it is a short week and they have to go on the road, Green Bay needs to win. Green Bay should win. And if Green Bay doesn't win, I know what you're saying. Oh, you're going to blame Aaron Rogers. Nope, tonight is absolutely on Matt LaFleur. Because Mike Vrable, in my opinion, is a top three or four coach in this league. The fact that he got his team on the road at Arrowhead to overtime without getting a

first down was one of the most remarkable things I've seen. The fact that last week, Denver off a buy goes in, never gets into the red zone. Wow. Tennessee is spectacularly coached. Green Bay's got some really good players, including a first ballot Hall of Fame quarterback. Let's go back to that five-game losing streak for the Packers. There were three, uh-oh moments in that, all on Matt LaFleur. The Giants game in London.

Green Bay came out scripted plays, took a lead. And then Brian Daibble, and that's when we really started talking about Brian Daible. Out-schemed, out-maneuvered, out-clevered Matt LaFleur. And the Giants dominate the last quarter and beat the Packers. Daniel Jones in that roster beat the Packers. That was the first. Uh-oh. The second, the Jets, Robert Sallow with Zach Wilson, going to Lambo.

and completely shut down Matt Lefleur and Aaron Rogers. The third, uh-oh, blowing a lead against Taylor Heineke, Washington? Now, think about this. With Aaron Rogers and a better roster than all three teams, the Packers are not rebuilding. Matt LeFleur lost to Daniel Jones, Zach Wilson, and Taylor Heineke. with a better roster on Aaron Rogers. Uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh.

Tonight, at home, short week, better quarterback, healthier roster. If Matt LaFleur can't beat Vrable here, he's not beating him. I mean, this is really built for you. I've been on this Matt LaFleur thing for several years. You guys have annoyed him a great coach. Show me where. Beating the Bears and Lions doesn't qualify. And now Minnesota loaded, offensive coach, humiliated Green Bay first matchup.

Tonight, Green Bay loses, playoffs are done. 20 years, mostly great. Tonight it's on LaFleur. It's not on Aaron Rogers, not on the rest of the Roger. It's not on Aaron Jones. It's not on the rookie receiver. It's on Matt LaFleur. You look on paper, you've got to win this game.

one coach is great in this game. Is the other good enough with all these advantages to win? We shall see. So the Warriors defending champs are six and nine. There's a lot of good young teams in this league. Golden State's an older team and their own eight in the road. They're not playing good defense. Steph Curry's been unbelievable A plus plus plus plus.

He's been unbelievable. So Steve Kerr talked about the current plight after losing to the son's last line. So there's no collective grit. We lack grit right now. We're playing a Drew League game right now. If you if you really compete together, shots go win, calls go your way, breaks fall your way. And we're not earning any of that stuff. That's why we're winless on the road. There's no no execution at either end, no no sort of commitment to the group to get three stops in a row to execute on offense. And it obviously starts with me.

All right. So I made a call yesterday afternoon to a friend of mine who covers the warrior, smart guy. And I said, what's the issue? And there's several for Golden State. Number one is the bench is a little too young. The starters are a little too old and getting older. And Steve Kerr is trying to bridge it. So Clay Thompson, so many injuries. will probably never be the old Clay Thompson. Draymond Green, 11 years. Dude plays incredibly physical basketball.

It's hard, hard to stay in your prime playing that style of basketball. Jordan Poole just got paid. Let's be honest about him. He's a streaky, inconsistent player. He's not a starter on a good team. He was a late first rounder in the G League. He is streaky. He can get really hot.

But he's not a star player in this league. They paid him sort of like one. So right now, Steve Kerr is trying to bridge the gap. And Steve Kerr, like his protege, Phil Jackson, really smart and deals with veteran players. But if you ask Phil Jackson or Steve Kerr, hey, you want to teach these young guys how to play? It's hard. And they have a sort of a react offense. You know, move, react, it's quick, it's nimble.

It's hard for younger players. And Steve Kerr's a great coach. But on a read and react offense, you've got to act nimbly, be twitchy, be quick, comminga, moody, Wiseman. They're just not there yet. That's why some of the better warrior teams have had old guys like Andre Iguodala on the bench. So the good news for the Warriors, they've got assets. J-MAC just talked about it.

If they had to make a big move, they have assets. Young, old. number two is excellent front office great GM and number three is here's the guy you're not moving Steph Curry got to have a start to win championships in this league and curry is just crushing it he is absolutely unbelievable but if you watch him play they're trying to do what's very very difficult in the NBA bridge old players getting older fast young players not quite there yet and is the solution making a big, big move. You know, Kevin Durant's not terribly happy in Brooklyn.

The Warriors aren't terribly happy with a slow development of their really talented young guys. Crazier things have happened. Steve Kerr's smart, but he may be, maybe a guy that isn't a perfect fit trying to teach guys how to play basketball. And the truth is, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Steph Curry, their timeline is now. Know how to win now. Know how to play now.

Oh, so good. So I'm looking at PFF. PFF's been around for a while. And they have their highest graded quarterback so far in the NFL this year. Some names you'd expect. Some names you would not. Tua is number one, followed by Mahomes, Josh Allen, Gino, Smith, and Jalen Hertz. So Tua is the one that everybody's going, whoa.

Whoa, Colin. Well, we had predicted they'll make the playoffs and Tua would have a very, very good season. Who is Miami? What is Miami? Let me throw this one at you. they're the 49ers of the AFC. Think about this. Where their coach come from?

What's the offense they run? It's the 49ers. Like the 49ers, Miami has a quarterback with an injury history and some physical limitations. But like the Niners, the Miami quarterback is super accurate and with a little protection, very productive. The Miami quarterback, like the quarterback, like that, the Miami quarterback, like, the Niner quarterback has lots of playmakers and a world-class left tackle to protect him. And eventually, that San Francisco quarterback gets into the playoffs, and you realize, against Mahomes and the Super Bowl, Stafford in the NFC championship,

we have the second best guy at the most important position. And I think that's what Miami will eventually see. It'll be Burrough or Mahomes or Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, and you'll be saying, boy, we need a play, and we don't quite have the guy. Miami, I've seen it before. It's called San Francisco. The difference, of course, is San Francisco's got a much, much better defense. Pro bowlers everywhere, Hall of Famers on that defense.

I had both the Niners and Miami making the playoffs. I had neither winning the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, for Tua and Miami, the road to the Super Bowl, it is a litany of world-class quarterbacks. Burrow and Allen, Mahomes, and Lamar, what if Herbert sneaks in?

In the NFC, Garapolo, Mayface, Gino Smith, Jalen Hertz, could be good, never won a playoff game. Kirk Cousins tends to shrink in big games. But if you're wondering who Miami is, It's San Francisco

With the Raiders What about him? All right so you know Josh McDaniels has been bad this season He just lost to Jeff Satter Yeah Okay Mark Davis the owner of the Raiders

spoke out supporting his coach I like that. Now, Derek Carr said, boy, it sure is a relief to know the organization has the back of Josh McDaniels. I like that. Just being here, you know, for nine years and everything that we've all seen and been through and some tragedies and all the stuff, right? You know, I'm so happy to hear that, you know, Mr. Davis feels that way. You know, I'm so happy that, you know, he loves Josh. He loves Dave.

He believes him. It kind of just let us know that the process, trust that process. There is a process, and we do have time, you know, like during the season right now that we know, like, who our leader is and we know that we're rolling. And that gives us confidence as a football team. So it absolutely, when he came out and did that, it's like, you know, like, thank, you know, thank goodness, you know, that kind of thing. Too much candor there for, for Derek Carr. Like, you know how Tom Brady would answer that? Hey, we're just worried about football.

We're just worried about our opponent this week. I can't let that outside noise. Carr is like too good of a guy. He is, honestly, very religious, doesn't say bad words. He's like a good dude crying at the podium last week. You don't like that? I like him as a human. As my quarterback, I want a killer.

I want no mercy. So you watch Cobra Kai, right? Listen, do you think Tom Brady would say something like that? Well, these are all different people. I am a Derek Carr fan. Let's not compare anybody to the greatest player at the position of all time. Would Justin Herbert say that, maybe? Would Joe Burrell say that?

I never hear Justin Herbert talk. He doesn't answer questions. He's not a big fan of the media. I don't know. I don't think Derek Carr. I like him. I don't think, listen, he is a nice guy. Kirk Cousins is a nice guy.

Andy Dalton's a nice guy. Sometimes those guys feel like can they break through the wall of the nice guy and kind of grab the opponent and shake him a little? What do they say about nice guys, Colin? Where do they finish? Well, in the AFC West, they finish last. So, by the way, the final note here. If Josh McDaniels loses to Jeff Saturday and Nathaniel Hackett in back-to-back weeks,

is the owner going to have his back at that? I mean, Hackett, widely regarded as the worst coach in the league. That's an interesting point. So if you lose to Jeff Saturday, a guy off the street. Who do you like, Raiders or Broncos? I'm not talking about that game. I just, I'm not. Well, let's go back to Mark Schlorath's comments.

I don't know how to bet these teams. Broncos have just screwed me every week. I'm done with them. And I hate the Raiders. Sorry, Raiders Nation. All right, let's move on to a really bad quarterback. And Mac Jones, the Patriots offense has been anemic. Colin, I got some numbers that are going to shake you to your core.

Yeah. Okay. Matt Jones's interceptions are up, touchdowns are down, but during the by week, you know, he's making big, big adjustments. Okay, all right. A lot of us are working on different things every day, and the biweek's, you know, a great time to do that. So for me, just making sure my feet and eyes are in the right place

and continue to go through my reads and continue to improve in the weight room, nutrition, all that stuff. So it's a full audit of yourself, I guess, you can call it. but kind of look at yourself and see what you can do better. At the end of the day, we know what we want to do. We need to score more points and eliminate the turnovers and negative plays. And that's kind of where we're at. So from there, we just grow together and coaches, players, everybody.

Pocket quarterback in 2022 without mobility in an athletic quarterback league. And he doesn't have an offensive coordinator. So you just mentioned pro football focus rankings in Tua, okay? Mac Jones grades out as the 54th best quarterback in the league. He's got 10 turnover-worthy plays, which is described as like a dropped interception or a fumble or whatever. Mac Jones 54. Do you want to guess where Zach Wilson is, by the way? For 31, 28.

50, he's 52. So by pro football focus, Zach Wilson's been better than Mack Jones this season. Both horrible. Both bad. Who do you like in this one, Colin? I doubt. This is my stayaway game. I think the number is, it's New England minus three.

There's a lot of threes on the board this week. Yeah, and I think it's going to end up being like 24, 21 New England. A lot of points. Jets are getting to 24? No, New England is. 24. 21. Oh, my goodness. All right.

Okay, we'll wrap up. Let's go with Justin Fields, a quarterback that we both like. Oh, fun to watch. A record setting pace. Bears are must watch football right now. He leads the league among quarterbacks with 749 rushing yards, but it's taking a toll on his body. He said he's holding back a little in practice.

practice this week so he's fully ready for the game on Sunday. I don't even know if it was a hit, so it was just a running. My legs just felt heavy after the game and stuff like that. So, you know, the guys on the strength staff said that my load's been pretty high. So I'm just, you know, doing a little bit of tapering back, you know, this week in practice and stuff like that. You know, I pretty much get that training during the game. So I get that, you know, conditioning extra work during the game and then kind of recovered during the week and just get my body ready to go on Sunday. Yeah, they're a little bit. You know, one of the reasons I like the Claypool move. Eric Mangini didn't is I think this. As the season wears on, it's colder,

it's harder in a windy, windy city. Like they need to take some of the toll off him. Like Josh Allen, the team's too reliant on him. Justin Fields, there are moments you feel like, oh my God, they're too reliant on him. So you get Claypool, and it's just, you know, another eight target. It's another legitimate playmaker. I think it's the right move because you feel like this offense.

And Buffalo's, it's as good as the quarterback plays that day. And I think unlike Buffalo, I think this team has addressed it very quickly and said, we got to get another receiver in right now. And I think the Bears are going to go, I think they're going to lean offense in this draft. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't get another tight end. Two more receivers. Go back to the O line. I think they're also going to have to get an edge rusher somewhere because they let go.

Quinn. Some players on defense for sure. Yeah. I saw Fields pop up on the injury report with a back. injury. He claimed it was from carrying the team the last three weeks. His back is just sore. Colin, by the way, did you see Khalil Herbert now on IR, the number two running back who's got more juice than Montgomery? Montgomery missed practice this week. I'm going to give out a fantasy name to everybody out there watching. Ebner, Ebner, however you say it, the Bears third string

running back, he's going to get a lot of touches this week. My brother grabbed him in fantasy. Like Chicago is walking wounded, but indoor game in Atlanta. Atlanta's defense stinks. We just saw Foreman run all over them. Fields could be in line for a 100 yards on the ground this week, Colin. He's so much fun to watch. Jets Patriots is a tough watch. Raiders Broncos is a tough watch. I'm watching the Bears.

They're not a corner TV game anymore. Also, in year two, Trevor Lawrence, year two, Justin Fields. They were considered the most talented by most teams. It does look like they're separating from their class. Fields looks like he's separating from like Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones. I know a lot of you don't watch the Jags. They're actually a fun watch.

it looks like Trevor Lawrence and Justin, the two highest-readed quarterbacks, are kind of separating from the young group the last couple years a little bit. Hey, what would Justin Fields look like in the San Francisco offense? Well, again, I don't think they're that far off. They have two receivers we like, a couple of backs,

nice tight end. I'm just getting on Lynch's case for taking Tray Lance. Like, that was... It's looking like a whiff. It was like Mac Jones or Tray Lance. How did he not see... What everybody's seeing now in Justin Fields. Running quarterback in that San Fran offense?

Oh my gosh, deadly. Yeah. Jay Mack with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Lie News. You know, I was thinking about this. Mack Jones plays Zach Wilson, and it's not going to be the sexiest game,

but I went this morning and I looked at some numbers. Mack Jones has regressed badly. He is no better now than Zach Wilson, who it feels like the, I mean, Zach Wilson's a kid. They're managing around him. And I was just looking at some numbers, adjusted yards per attempt, success rate, QBR, touchdowns. Mac Jones is struggling.

And I've said this before. I'm not sure Belichick is ideally built for 2022 football. Nobody's saying he's less intelligent. But 2022 football is a quarterback that can move. drafting and developing weapons offensively and just a general feel for offense. For safety reasons, the NFL has pivoted to make the game safer. The middle of the field is now not for safeties. It's for tight ends and wide receivers.

Brady saw it coming and left town. Mack Jones, a kid, has already complained about it. Nick Sabin is Belichick's best friend in coaching, but Sabin did pivot. Saban was willing to hire some coaches that he was uncomfortable with and had some baggage, Lane Kiffin and at the time, Sark. Bama is now more about quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs, and offensive linemen. Eight years ago, Bama was about corners, defensive linemen, and linebackers. Belichick, I don't know if it's stubborn, but he's not pivoting.

Look at the most improved team in the league this year. Who is it? It's the Vikings. Really good, smart defensive coach to a kid offensive coach. Turn the season around. Last year, last year, Bengals, Bengals get to a Super Bowl.

Offensive coach. Final four teams in the playoffs last year all had offensive coaches. Philly, the number one seed. A coach we thought was over his head, butcher his opening press conference, It's number one seed NFC, offensive coach. Listen, the flip phone still works, but it's not a smartphone. And you start looking at a team we think is great, Buffalo. Defensive coach, starting unravel, not refined, don't feel like they're well coached, can't develop a run game four years in.

Sometimes you're a real smart guy, you're in an industry, in the industry changes. Sabin sought and quickly pivoted. Now it is college football. So, you know, that's obviously a lower level of coaching. The coaching at the NFL level is very, very good. Doesn't mean Belichick is less smart. But, you know, it's funny. For a while, I live near Hartford, Connecticut on the East Coast. And, you know, in the 50s and 60s, it was the insurance capital of America. And that's where people put their money in the 50s and 60s. Insurance. And then and the 60s and 70s it was about banking. And they didn't really pivot to that.

And then the 80s and 90s was about Wall Street. And Hartford didn't really pivot to that. Now it's about tech. And Hartford's kind of one of those where they call kind of dead American cities. The 50s and 60s when insurance is where you put your money. Hartford rocked. And then I went into banking and then Wall Street. And now it's into tech.

and they just don't feel very vibrant. Still a beautiful, beautiful part of the country. You got to adapt. And I look at New England, they don't have an offensive coordinator on the staff. They may have the weakest wide receiving core in the league. Their quarterback, Young has already verbalized it. But sometimes somebody comes up with an idea and the market's just not ready for it. And sometimes there are people, you know, Bill Gates is born in 1908. he's not going to

that brain maybe not function with the 1908 economy and I look at Andy Reid Andy Reid was able to get to Super Bowls not win one but dominate big chunks of the NFC for years when all the rules or most leaned defense now they lean offense and Belichick struggling to win

what if Andy Reed in his career career that you couldn't have hit upstairs years ago. The rules safety if the league was more aware of it 25 years ago was more of an offensive league. It would be Andy Reid with the Super Bowls and Belichick without them. If Andy Reid can coach another 10, 11 years in this league, and he's an older guy, but if he did, and win several Super Bowls, which I think is very possible, they should be favored

to win this year and he's already got one. and Andy Reid ends up with four Super Bowls and Belichick struggles. I think the debate of greatest coach in this era, it won't be as lobsided as it feels today. Andy was ahead of his time. Andy Reed on third down, when he was in Philadelphia, third and four, third and three, Andy was the first coach in this league that said, that's a passing down. That's a short passing down. He was one of the first coaches really used.

really used the tight end, really saw third and two. It could be a passing down. So I just think sometimes the world changes and it doesn't make you less smart, but you're just not built for it. You're not going to adapt to it. You're older stuck in your waist. I'll give Pete Carroll credit at 70 years old. He went and got a little uncomfortable with Shane Waldron.

And a lot of those draft picks this year were offensive linemen, offensive guys. Pete loves his defense. It's paying off. Belichick's a great coach, but man, they don't even have an OC. Their weapons are terrible. They can't draft them. They're not developing a quarterback. Mike Zimmer's a great coach. Vikings are significantly better without him. It's not that Mike Zimmer got dumb. Mike Zimmer didn't know how to coach.

But it's, you know, again, the flip phone is still a phone, but it's not a smartphone. It's got a lot of stuff today. Peter King, Greg Coasell is in 30 minutes. Lincoln Riley, USC's football coach. So, you know, coaching, if I had to vote coach of the year right now, it would be Brian Dayball, because I think he's taking really a roster in flux with outside of left tackle. They don't love the offensive line. Very Saquan, Barclay dependent. And Brian would get my coach of the year. Pete Carroll would get votes. There's been other great jobs. But Brian Dayball refined in sandpaper, Josh Allen, who was wild at Wyoming.

and wild in Buffalo, he now leaves, Peter, and eight games later, Josh Allen is regressing and reverting back to some of early Josh Allen mistakes. How concerned should a Bill's fan be, or are you on that? Well, Colin, I would say that the first six games, we weren't saying that. The last two games we are, because his game against the Jets was lousy. Yeah. His game against Minnesota in the clutch in the last 20 minutes of the game, fourth quarter and overtime, was awful.

And, you know, it's a classic case of sometimes even the best quarterbacks have to be reminded. And I bet both Ken Dorsey and Sean McDermott reminded him this week, hey, listen, you don't have to make every play. Right. You can, you can, you know, eat the ball. You can throw it out. You can throw it away. You can do whatever.

But I think his last interception on Sunday is the one that really bothered me. Because even if the bills do nothing else, and look, no one wants to tie. But they could kick a field goal in overtime to tie the game and they go home, you know, with a tie. but in handing the game to Minnesota and handing that interception to Patrick Peterson, you know, what he said was, I don't have a great alternative, so I'm going to take a one in a million chance to try to make something happen. He's got to realize he can't do that. I bet this week he has learned that very, very ugly, costly lesson.

MVP, I know it's only halfway through this season. Is there to you a clear-cut MVP right now? There's not a clear cut. We're 10 weeks into the season, and I could easily, you know, make a case for five different players. Before the game Monday night, I had a note in my column,

and I said, I think Jalen Hertz is the MVP. Yeah. I think Mahomes is second, to a tongue of a low, a third. And then I also had Justin Jefferson and Saquan Barkley in there. And a lot of people might say, well, hold on a minute. How can you have Justin Jefferson over Tyree Kill who really this year could break every record that there is for a receiver? I mean, it's very simple.

You can't have two people on the same team. I can't, anyway, for a most valuable player award in my top four or five. You just can't do that. And to me, when Tuatangvaloa, every game he has played, every game he has started and finished. He's won this year. Miami's undefeated. The only three games were either he didn't play or didn't finish.

Obviously, Miami is lost. And so there's a big value, you know, a big value generator with Tua. But right now I'd probably say Mahomes with a little bit of an asterisk and just saying, hey, look, there's eight weeks to go. and this thing is really going to be in flux the rest of the way. I was surprised the Colts named Jeff Saturday, the interim coach. I was kind of shocked, actually, at the outrage by Rex Ryan, Bill Cower. Ursay is a increasingly impulsive billionaire.

We got one guy that just bought Twitter. Similarly, an impulsive billionaire. I wasn't shocked by it, surprised. What was your overall reaction? Maybe not just to the move, but the reaction of just the reaction of Jeff? Jeff Saturday. Well, you know that in an era, Colin, when there are so many coaches who want a chance and who really deserve a chance, many of whom are minority coaches who've never gotten

that chance, and very, very rarely have gotten a second chance. When a guy is plucked out of high school football in Georgia, even though he's one of the great players in the recent history of the Colts. Obviously, there's going to be a very heavy reaction to that. But I think I would just say two things about it. I talked to Jeff Saturday at length after that first victory in Las Vegas. And one of the things he said to me was, why is it in other sports? He said, I worked in the room next to Aaron Boone.

for a year or so, and then he became the manager of the New York Yankees. And why didn't anybody scream at that? Why don't they scream at basketball coaches? Why is it that when it happens in football, everybody screams, but not in the other sports? And he told me he wants to make it possible that a daring owner could say, hey, if I can get Tom Brady to be my head coach or or Peyton Manning or whoever or Jeff Saturday. You know, to me, Jeff Saturday is like a Joe Girardi. Right. You know, as a manager, you know, he's as just as catchers know everything that happens

on the baseball field, centers know an awful lot about what happens both on offense and with the team. Yeah. So it's hard for me to be outraged by it, Colin, especially because Jeff Saturday, the leader is probably a lot of what that team needed. Yeah, we made that catcher comp the other day. They make great broadcasters and great managers because they see the entire baseball field.

I'm not a fire the coach guy. There have been a few instances. But when Denver comes off a buy, a buy, and outside of a busted play has no offense, doesn't get to the red zone. I mean, it's like, wow, wow. Five of the top. Titans defensive players were injured. Another one got hurt in the game.

They never got into the red zone. Peter, sometimes even the San Antonio Spurs hired Jerry Tarkhanian. Great organizations. They whiff. It's okay. Alabama once hired a football coach. He didn't coach a game because they caught him in a strip club. It happens.

I mean, I look at Hackett. I'm like, I just think it was a whiff. Dude, how long would you stay with it? I think you stay with him for the year. just to see if he can get them out of this. But listen, you know, you can't fire Russell Wilson. Right, right. So, you know, you just can't do it.

So now I think what you have to do is there has to be this meeting between Nathaniel Hacking and Russell Wilson in which they sit down, and I would bet a hundred bucks they've done it this week, in which they sit down and they say, okay. let's cut it right down to the quick. What do we do best? Really? What do we do best? What can we do best?

And Russell, unless you're injured, I want you to start running. Now, maybe Russell Wilson can't be Justin Fields. I don't think he can. But he certainly can upset a defense with his legs significantly more than he has to this point. I think that's where I would start if I were Nathaniel Hackett talking to Russell Wilson. You know, whether we have design runs or not, we want you to start running the ball eight or ten times a game. Until we get some rhythm with this offense, until you get confident in this offense, we've got to move the ball. And so in order to move the ball, we think that you have the ability to make three or four first down.

with your legs in every game. I only have about a minute left, Peter. Germany, I thought there was an amazing, amazing experience. What made it different? What made it different is a week ago tomorrow, last Friday, I'm taking a tour. I've got my AirPods in, and I'm taking a tour, and I'm standing in a major square in Munich called Odians plots. And it is where in 1923, Hitler had a failed coup to try to take over the government.

And in 1933, after he was named Chancellor, in the very week, 89 years ago that I was standing there, he had one of his most fiery speeches. And he said, this is the country, we're going to be everything, Sig, Heil, and all that. And I look up, Colin, and there are 32 NFL helmets in this square. There's parents, kids, people from all over the world coming in for this game. There's a huge NFL pop-up shop in the square. And on the same steps where Hitler gave this fiery speech are Seahawks fans chanting for their team. And I just said, man, what a difference 89 years makes? Yeah.

And just, and to see the love that this country has for America's game. And to listen to Pete Carroll tell me, I want to see a day when every country has a national football team and we have a world tournament and you know countries playing each other so to me Colin that was what really stood out about the week in Munich Peter King NBC Sports.com as always Peter love your insights thank you so much thank you Colin yeah it made me actually my son and I talked about it I wanted to go to Germany I just thought it was amazing I thought it was just the best marketing I I would not be surprised if it didn't help boost some economy, travel Americans going to Germany.
