This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

On the Look Back at it podcast.
For 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
It was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
A win is a win.

I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show.
This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,

Here we go.
It is a Wednesday.
Lots to talk about.
Live in Los Angeles, it's the herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be listening.
We're an I-Heart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1.
One hour from now, the voice of college football.
Joel Klatte joined us as he does every Wednesday.
Second hour, top of it.
J-Mack is joining us.
Well, last night I was not watching.
watching a lot of sports hung out with my wife last night after two Monday Night Football Games,
which, by the way, I don't love two Monday Night Football Games.
Don't make me choose.
I don't like that at all.
I don't like what the league's doing on that Monday Night Football thing.
Do you like two Monday Night Football games?
I kind of sort of loved it.
Now, I gamble and I do fantasy, so I was toggling between both.
But I last night hung out with my wife as well.
We went to a Dave Matthews concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
Good show.
That's very hip.
You are a member of the American media.
that topic in a second.
But I want to start with this.
Boy, there's one thing in Dallas you can't do.
You cannot criticize Dak Prescott.
Nobody's ever been coddled like Dak Prescott.
If you criticize Dak Prescott, oh, the fanboys come out of the woodwork.
So Steve Young got in trouble yesterday.
You know Steve Young, one of the great quarterbacks of all time, great lefty for the 49ers,
great all-time quarterback.
He was talking about Cooper Rush coming in and winning again.
game. He said, Dak Prescott is a fellow dual-threat quarterback, sits back and sees a guy come in,
and this happened to me, said Steve Young. Remember when Steve Bono took over and he went in and
just ran the offense? Just do the job. Nothing fancy. Just do the job. And it really told me something,
said Steve Young. I needed to kind of reiterate to myself. And I want him to study Cooper Rush,
because in many ways, it's doing those fundamental things that can really help Dak when he comes back.
Which, by the way, Steve Young lived this reality. And it's telling me,
you about the life he lived and how it relates to Dak.
So I think it's fascinating.
Oh, the fan boys came out of the woodwork.
Dak Prescott's the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.
Makes $40 million a year.
And it cannot beat good teams since his rookie year,
a year in which he easily had the best O-line and running game in the league.
Here is Dak Prescott versus playoff teams in his career, 12 and 21.
and he's had more than enough weapons before this year in a grade O line.
12 and 21.
What is he, Kirk Cousins on Monday Night Football?
Oh, wait.
That's actually what I've compared him to the last two years.
Have I or have I not said?
Look at their career numbers.
They're identical.
Completion percentage.
Identical.
Passing yards a game.
Identical.
Passer rating.
Identical.
TD interception ratio.
Identical.
The difference is you mock Kirk Cousins and you
coddle Dak Prescott.
They are the same player.
One's just more popular.
One's cooler.
By the way,
Dak has had back-to-back
offensive coaches. That matters.
And has been supported
since day one in Dallas.
Kirk Cousins, they hated him in Washington.
And in Minnesota, his last coach
wanted to replace him.
He's had the deal with that since day one.
He finally gets now a coach
that loves him and supports him.
And he just beat Aaron Rogers.
Maybe that's the biggest difference between Dak and Kirk Cousins.
One beats a Hall of Fame quarterback regularly.
Because Kirk Cousins has given Aaron Rogers problems.
They're the same quarterback.
You just like one more.
I mean, even their money, we all kind of privately think Dax's a little overpaid,
and we all kind of publicly acknowledge Kirk Cousins could be a little overpaid.
But you're the quarterback for America's team making $40 million,
and you can't beat good teams.
Who was the quarterback in Dallas before DAC?
It was Tony Romo who actually occasionally beat playoff teams with a terrible
offensive line most of his career in Dallas.
And you crushed him weekly.
I remember when I came out and I said, I think Joe Burrow is going to be Tony Romo.
And everybody saw it as a criticism.
And I'm like, Tony Romo's got one of the 10 highest passer ratings of all time.
I defended Tony Romo for years.
I'm like, he's not Brady.
He's not Manning.
He's not Big Ben.
he's not you know he's not breeze he's good toady romo couldn't catch a break in dallas
dac has people to defend him when when steve young who lived the experience kind of self-deprecating
criticized himself he went out and he said yeah i kind of learned i was running around doing a bunch
of stuff and then steve bono came in for the niners and kind of just dropped back get rid of the
ball and i kind of watched it and said to myself i got to do the basic things right
I mean, it's amazing.
There are just certain jobs in America, shortstop for the New York Yankees,
top score for the L.A. Lakers, head football coach at Ohio State or Alabama,
and quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.
You're going to get heat.
It's part of the job.
So this, I've got to tell you, this is one of my favorite stories so far in the football season.
So I don't run my social media.
I have other people run it.
I'm on Twitter a little bit with mine, but I pretty much have a little staff and they do all my social media, the TikTok, the Instagram, all that stuff.
I do a little on Twitter, but even that, it's kind of farmed out.
And so, and one of the reasons I do it is I don't think, I really do not believe Twitter is real life.
Social media, I think, paints a picture that's not real life.
So I want to talk about this.
So the NFL polled, not the NFL, there was a poll of the most like players in the NFL.
And do you know who tied for the most like players in the NFL?
Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes tied.
Russell Wilson.
You know the one on Twitter that's mocked that you call cringy,
the one the snarky media rolls their eyes at,
who believes in God is uncool, is optimistic, is rah-rah, who's married with kids.
He is the most popular player in the NFL.
Want to know who else is on this list?
Tom Brady.
Going through some marriage strife.
Patrick Mahomes has sort of a brother that occasionally embarrasses him.
Kirk Cousins.
A lot of dorky dads married with kids.
Bad dad jokes.
You know who's not on there?
Super cool OBJ. Always cool Baker-Mayfield. Not on the list.
The media is out of touch, and I am as guilty as anyone. The media doesn't drive a 12-year-old car or go bowling or belly up to a small town bar and order a domestic beer. No, they've got lists of IPAs. They go to cool concerts like my boy, J-MAC, or they tell you how popular F-1 racing is. Nobody cares about it.
Yeah, I saw that.
There was a story, a Netflix special on F1 racing.
Oh, the media.
Media has all got streaming services.
They can afford those right.
And now I hear how popular F1 racing is.
And then I went to our guy upstairs and I said, how popular is it?
And among car racing fans, not even sports fans, just a small niche audience that
likes car racing, just among car racing fans.
F1 racing is the favorite of 8%.
80% NASCAR, but NASCAR is not cool, right? Not hip.
Budweiser loves Skoll.
Loves NASCAR.
But F-1 racing, that's what the media likes.
I remember a couple years ago, Netflix did a story on veganism.
And it scared everybody, and everybody said, I'm going to be a vegan, the media, all I talked about, veganism.
And then everybody figured out they like eggs and hamburgers and stop being a vegan.
Do you know what percentage of Americans vegan?
0.5.
That's it.
I love the fact that dorky, cringy
Russell Wilson
and Patrick Mahomes
whose brother sometimes is a little silly at stadiums
and kind of, you know, we all got somebody in the family
because these players are relatable.
Because all of us have somebody in the family
that occasionally we roll our eyes
and all of us tell, you know, adults, dads,
cringy dad jokes and try to be cooler than we are and we look like dorks. Yes, American adults
who have kids who are married, sometimes fight with their spouse, who have real stress and real
jobs and have to be responsible and can't hang out on social media all day being snarky
or play video games all day. They like Patrick Mahomes and they like Russell Wilson. And
they're not vegan. And they probably don't watch F1 racing because they're busy.
That poll makes me so happy. Religious, raw, raw, optimistic, dad joke, cringy, changing his look every 15 minutes to be cool.
Russell Wilson among American adults is the most popular NFL player.
I know I'm a member of the media. I don't know why I criticize it. It's just, you know, sometimes we're just out of touch.
Sometimes I'm out of touch.
Man, I got somebody in the media coming after me.
McAfee.
Hey, can I defend Aaron Rogers on something?
Of course I can.
I'm going to defend Aaron Rogers on something.
Aaron was talking about drugs and plants yesterday.
I got to talk about that.
Got to talk about that as well.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at It podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

It is great to have you in today.
It really is.
I like that old school music.
I really appreciate that.
It's not hip.
80s.
I like the 80s.
I like the 80s.
I was in high school and college.
I love 80s.
I love the 80s.
80s were fantastic.
I still wear many of my outfits are from the 80s.
Russell Wilson and I, we love the 80s.
So, you know, there's a couple funny stories.
here today on Aaron Rogers.
And I, you know, I think a lot of you think I don't like Baker Mayfield.
I didn't like the way he acted.
But I think Baker's probably got a really good heart.
There's a really good dad.
He'll be a great husband.
You know, like it's not anti-Baker.
It's how he acted.
I don't like the way Johnny Mansell acted.
Or Cam, I thought, was over the top.
Cam was me, me, me, quarterback's a wee, we, we business.
I like the way Mahalms acts.
And Brady and Russell Wilson.
I like, there's a certain way.
I always call it quarterbackial.
I like my presidents, not a fan of Trump.
I like my presidents to be presidential.
My quarterbacks to be quarterbackial, you know, to each their own.
But, you know, I think Aaron's a Hall of Famer.
I've always said I prefer Aaron over Brett Favre of the all-time Packer Greats.
I think he's more of an academic quarterback.
I think he does a better job at the line of scrimmage.
I think he would have worked in any era.
I think the league now is the Gunslinger thing now would not work as much with Brett
far as it did in that era. Aaron would have worked in the 50s, 60s, 70s today. Aaron's great.
Aaron doesn't like me. I get it. I'm okay with it. But I got no anti-Aaron bias. I don't.
He just does stuff that I think is worth talking about. But I saw this story. So Aaron faces Brady
this week. And I do like, I think Tampa's got some good matchups. But if I was Aaron and I read this,
it would kind of tick me off. So good morning football. Schrager probably broke this or Mike
Garoflo. The Buccaneers are signing veteran receiver Cole Beasley.
Cole Beasley's pretty darn good. He had 82 catches last year. He's got great hands.
He's been in a lot of big games. I like Cole Beasley. I don't have to agree with
them on his back stands, but I don't like mandates either. And Cole Beasley can catch the
football and get open. And why don't more teams do what Tampa does with their star quarterback?
Tommy asked for something, and they get him something. They find a way to make it work. They
manipulate the cap. I mean, Aaron Rogers seems to me could use Cole Beasley. 82 catches last year?
You don't think they could use Cole Beasley? And I may be critical of Aaron Rogers, but I watched Tampa
with Tommy work the cap, work the system, manipulate the roster, mid-season, off-season, during
season. They're constantly getting in pieces. And what does Green Bay do? Oh, we're out of money. We're broke.
So I looked it up.
Aaron Rogers, among quarterbacks, is the fifth highest cap hit for quarterbacks.
Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, and Mahomes.
They all have far more weapons.
They're bigger cap hits.
By the way, so who do they pay?
Green Bay's defense is young.
They're not paying many guys on defense.
Devonte Adams left.
They save money there.
The tied in, Robert Tunyon, everybody likes him.
They don't pay him any money.
I mean, they really pay three guys.
Aaron, David Bakhtiari, and Preston Smith.
Tampa's paying like eight guys.
Shaq Barrett, Levanti, David, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Tom Brady,
Donovan Smith, the left tackle makes a fortune.
And they're still working the roster.
It's weird about it.
That's one of the things.
And listen, Aaron has been a lot sometimes to deal with.
But I also see Aaron looking around at Tom Brady and thinking.
thinking, basically, if you look at the way Tampa runs their business, it's let's get Tommy
more help.
Green Bay, hey, Aaron, make it work.
You're really expensive.
He's not that expensive.
Goff, Mahomes, and Kirk Cousins have a bigger cap hit.
Who's Green Bay paying?
Preston Smith makes a lot of money.
Aaron makes a lot of money.
David Boktiari makes a lot of money.
All of them worth it.
They're all great.
They don't pay.
Devante Adams left. The defense has a lot of young cheap players. The tight ends excellent. They don't
pay him. So, you know, if I was Aaron Rogers and I was going to face Tommy and I was 0 and 2 against
him in this game, you know, I want to get one of these on the board for me. And I look and I'm like,
oh, here comes Cole Beasley. 82 catches, great hands. Probably the best hands available on the
market. They figure out a way to get it done. And they've been doing that for three years. By the way,
Mac Jones could certainly use Cole Beasley in New England.
He could certainly use an offensive coordinator.
I mean, Tampa's figured it out.
We got a great quarterback.
Let's get him stuff.
Let's make this puppy work.
We get one more year of Tom, two Macs.
Let's make it work.
Let's constantly manipulate the roster.
By the way, the Colts could use Cole Beasley.
A lot of teams.
Cleveland could use Cole Beasley.
Famari Cooper goes down.
What do they have for wide receivers?
There are a lot of teams.
Chicago could use Cole Beasley.
They're not paying Justin Fields anything.
So it's not like they're using a Swiss bank down in Tampa.
All I know is Aaron this week goes up against him and Tommy's got all these weapons.
Now, Mike Evans will be out.
But if Mike Evans was available, which he usually is, look at the difference what Tom gets and what Aaron has to work with.
Well, Aaron makes a lot of money.
Well, Aaron's worth a lot of money.
Aaron's earned that contract.
He's worth a lot of money.
Russell Wilson makes a lot of money.
Mahomes, Josh Allen.
By the way, Lamar Jackson's going to make a lot of money.
Lamar Jackson's worth a lot of money.
J. Mack with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
By the way, Mike Evans, it just came out that his appeal lost,
and he will not be playing this week.
I know Brady was bothered by it, but you can't run up and smack a guy.
You can't do that.
All right.
First story, column.
Buffalo Bills, off to a fantastic start this season.
offense is explosive, scoring a league high, 36 points per game, just obliterated the Rams and then the Titans.
The Josh Allen-Stefon-Diggs connection has been ridiculous.
Diggs four touchdown catches.
Great sideline celebration on Monday night.
I don't know if you saw that.
Yes.
But he went on the Rich Eisen Show and said he's hoping to keep the partnership for a long time.
My family.
Flat out of that family, that's my guy.
I'm trying to get some Christmas cards with us on it.
I might send you guys some.
he's a hell of a quarterback since I met him.
He kind of clicked.
You know what I'm saying?
You don't click with everybody.
And that's somebody that I felt like, damn.
I'm like, I can grow old with you.
You know, I can see myself with you.
No, I think, you know what?
No fan base in America loves their team like Buffalo and Green Bay.
And the bottom line is you go there and you succeed.
Jim Kelly works for the bills.
Yeah.
Yeah, you're a bill for life.
Like that's a great.
Like in Los Angeles, people forget you the minute you leave the city or in New York or Bill Patriots or Packers, Bills, you are a member of the family for life.
Small town passion.
I think, yeah, I mean, I just think if I was a great receiver, I get Josh Allen and that fan base loyalty.
Yeah, it's a little cold in November.
Guess what?
With Josh Allen, you'll be playing in January every year.
I'd rather playing the snow in January than watching on television.
Stefan Diggs, by the way, has dominated Miami in the last four games, three touchdowns.
And Josh Allen, Colin, just to get this straight, he's won seven straight against the dolphins.
This is a huge game this weekend.
And there's like early money on the dolphins.
I think they're the most public team.
Everybody's like Miami to a...
Well, well, dramatic win over a popular Ravens team and the way they won coming back, big bombs, big plays.
That feels like a public team.
I think we're overvaluing Miami.
A lot. And I still don't think everybody understands how good Buffalo is.
Go ask the Rams in Tennessee playoff teams. They were steamrolled by Buffalo.
Especially at the line of scrimmage. The Dolphins' offensive line is shaky,
and we know the bills have depth on the defensive line. I kind of like Buffalo this weekend.
All right. Next up, Colin, Tray Lance, guy we've talked about a lot on this show,
handed the keys to the 49ers franchise. But now his first season as a starter
obviously cut short due to the ankle injury. He'll be rehabbing his broken ankle.
but Trent Dilfer, I think he's a regular on this show, right?
Concern the injury could affect the rest of Trey's career.
I'm bumford Trey.
I think this could be a career record, to be honest with you.
Susan will be now his third year about playing significant snaps.
Less than 1,500 attempts as a college player,
it very rarely works out in your favor in the NFL.
I was willing to take that chance for Trey
because I figured his ability to run the ball
would be kind of the balancing.
to give them a longer leash in the NFL to play more snaps.
This could be, I hope not.
I love the kid, but this could be catastrophic for Trey Lance.
Well, here's the good news, and we predicted this yesterday.
He could be healthy in practicing by late November.
So, by the way, Dak, the story on Dak, he's back, and he could be by week four,
Dak could be back.
Young bodies heal very, very quickly.
I do not believe it's a career wrecker, but here's what's interesting.
If you look at how wobbly, we both acknowledge the NFC at the top is a little unhinged.
If San Francisco makes another run, boy, it's going to be hard to give that locker room to a young kid who hasn't proven it with not a lot of starts.
So, you know, it's funny.
I'm just kind of fascinated by how we treat Jimmy Garapolo.
Like, Trey's going to be fine. He's going to heal. He's young. He'll be back. They say now by November it can be throwing a football. He didn't break a spine, not a back. It's an ankle. I mean, John Stockton, Michael Jordan, Tom Brady have had big injuries early in their career. We don't even talk about him, right? But it is interesting with Garapolo. When you watch the reaction of his teammates, they love him because he wins games. By the way, they've been with him for several years when he doesn't play. Even with Kyle in that roster, they win 35,
percent of their games. So I think it's kind of an unspoken thing. We as as society, we're not in
that locker room. Jimmy Garapolo is loved by those teammates. That is a power that is hard
to people to wrap your brains around if you're not in that locker room. I don't know if we have
the video of the fourth down, touchdown, run fourth, and goal from the one, but he scores and he is
grinning and all the offensive linemen are mobbing him. It was one of those moments where
you're like, you know, they're not out on trade, but they just love Jimmy Garopp.
They want to win games. It's hard in this league to win games. Do you hear Sean McVeigh this week
when they, when they struggled to beat Atlanta? Sean McVeigh said years ago, I would have been
feisty and upset. He goes, we won a game. Yeah. I am so happy. Survive in advance. If you
beat Atlanta at home, be happy. Colts can't beat the Jaguars. Yeah. Last year this year,
like, like, be happy with wins. I know you didn't like when I called Tray Lancer
running quarterback yesterday. I do compare him to RG3 and we saw the injury he suffered.
Remember in the Seattle playoff game? He went down. Shanahan kind of ran him into the ground.
He was never the same. It's early on Trey Lansing. I just worry with a good team, a good
roster. I don't know, Colin. I'm kind of with Trent Dofer on this one. All right,
final story. We'll wrap up with Aaron Judge. One home run away from tying Roger Maris's
American League single season record last night in the ninth inning judge hit number 60.
Just a bomb. Yankees wanting to walk off Grand Slam.
Here's the call Aaron Judge hitting 60.
Here's the 3-1.
Swung on that.
There it goes.
Deep left.
It is high.
It is far.
It is gone.
He's tied the babe.
It's a Judgian blast.
This 60th home run of the year.
Wow.
All right.
There comes the judge.
Somebody told me that.
announcer is 84 years old. Yeah, John Sterling,
84 years young. You know, it's into,
I was thinking about this. Take out the 20 years
of the steroid era. We don't know who took it,
who didn't. Judge is clean.
Is Aaron Judge the best
home run hitter since Babe Ruth?
Because I, nothing against Bonds,
nothing against all those great home run hitters.
But I don't know, Konseko,
Bons, Balko.
Hank Aaron. Okay.
You know, what's funny about Hank, though, Hank hit
30 a year forever.
Yeah. But Hank didn't have a lot of
gigantic years, and I don't have Hank's numbers in front, but I grew up with Hank Aaron.
Hank gave you like 28 home runs a year forever.
Consistent.
But I mean, if I said to you, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Aaron, Judge, I absolutely know those
guys weren't on the cream.
Is he the, is he in the Bay, Ruth, Hank Aaron, Aaron, Judge?
I think there's an argument to me maybe he is.
Yeah.
And I'm not knocking Mark McGuire and those guys.
They're great athletes, but I got questions about all of them.
I don't have questions about Hank Aaron, Bay, Bay,
Aaron Judge?
Yeah.
Quick fun story from the producer here.
So four college kids caught this Aaron Judge home run.
They didn't want anything.
They just wanted to meet Aaron Judge.
So after the game, you know, they got brought in and met Aaron Judge.
I guess they did it for the Graham.
That's another hip, cool thing to do.
So the kids didn't take money?
They did not want money.
Who are those kids?
I love those kids.
Four college kids.
I don't know who they are, but, you know, they went on social media and we're like,
hey, I don't want them money.
Ryan, who are they?
You're a college kid age.
Who are those kids?
the hipsters that you were speaking so poorly of
about 15 minutes ago
So hipster did something nice beyond themselves?
One of our producers, they're F1 fans.
They were drinking IPAs.
But no, Colin, I mean, they could have made some decent coin.
No, of course!
But they would rather meet Aaron Judge Shake his hand.
I love those guys.
Good for those guys.
Give me the cash, personally.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
News. So it was a month or so ago that Aaron Rogers went out and acknowledged and was honest about it.
He's got a new girlfriend. Blue of Earth is her name. Not joking, not making fun of it. That's his
girlfriend. I don't make fun of players girlfriends. Blue of Earth. She's very ethereal and spiritual and all that
stuff. That's great. And I'm married to an artist. You know, I hear some of that stuff, right?
So Blue of Earth is his girlfriend. And, you know, he's been talking a lot about spirituality and
stuff. And there's nothing wrong with athletes doing that. I kind of like that.
Kyrie Irving does it a lot. Aaron Rogers does it.
Kyrie can be a little out there. Sometimes I think Aaron's a little out there, but whatever.
And he was talking about taking ayahuasca, which is a psychedelic. And so, and I, you know,
poke fun of him. He basically vomited and pooped all weekend. And he said he entered a new realm.
You know, that's what he talked about. I entered a new realm. And he gave that experience,
a lot of credit for his success in football, not teammates, not Devante Adams, not the coach,
but ayahuasca.
I wasn't a big fan of that.
But anyway, I remember the day after that, and that was discovered, I said this on the air.
Aaron, I'm older than you.
It happened to me too.
It was college.
I had six rum drinks in 90 minutes.
I saw weird things in Yak 2.
I moved into a different realm.
It was the realm of that's the worst damn hangover I've ever had in my life.
So, Pat, so anyway, yesterday, Rogers was on with Pat McAfee.
wrestling guy, former NFL punter, funny guy.
And he has Aaron Rogers on all the time.
And he was kind of setting up Aaron Rogers.
And Aaron said, hey, I keep reading these articles about us doing a drug celebration, a drug this and a drug that.
It's not a drug.
It's a plant.
Putting the tag drug on him is a manipulative word that creates a bias against those specific things.
I do think it's important enough to go on this ridiculous tangent I went on to remind people how words are used to create bias in certain situations and those biases create fears.
Well, Aaron, vodka is just distilled potatoes.
Can my 16-year-old son go into a liquor store and say, can I have a bottle of potatoes?
Me and my friends are going out and like to drink it.
Those potatoes become an alcohol.
For the record, heroin comes from poppy seeds and cocaine comes from a cocault.
they're both still drugs.
I don't have a problem with Aaron talking about vaccines.
I'm going to trust an epidemiologist.
And I don't have a problem with Aaron talking about drugs,
but I am going to trust the DEA.
Lots of things aren't intended to be drugs, but become that.
Let's look at our cars.
They build cars, actually, to be safe, but they can be weaponized.
People can drink too much, get in them, and kill people.
People drive into crowds.
People drive too fast.
They're not created to be weapons, but they could be.
Hell, a butter knife is created to put butter on rolls.
You could poke somebody in the eye with it and blind them.
Yes, drugs all come from plants except meth, which is cooked, and I wouldn't recommend that either.
Aaron has every right to talk about drugs, and he does have a new girlfriend, Blue of Earth,
and she's very spiritual, and he's very spiritual, but I have.
have to push back a little when you're just saying weed's not a drug, it's a plant. Well, we have a
DEA and we have these, you know, sort of people that kind of make sure in society that kids aren't
doing this and kids aren't doing that. And that plant called weed is not great for kids in their
teens as their brain is developing. I think that is reasonable to say since it's factually true.
I like plants too. My mom was a gardener. I am a big fan of plants, but some plants become
drugs. And that's not great.
I do like the name blue of earth, though.
I'm not lying. If I had a ban
today,
strong consideration, name of the band.
But why blue and not green?
I don't know. It's not like. I do
not criticize athletes, girlfriends.
I think spirituality is a wonderful thing.
But let's not just say all these crazy
drugs. They're just plants. And society's out there to
form a bias against you.
heroin comes from poppy seeds.
It's not great for you.
Mushrooms is cool, right?
Well, chicken Marsala,
little mushroom capers, absolutely one.
Cowherds on fire today.
Woo!
All right.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd.

I'm Sam Jett.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because.
of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Fox Sports, great reporter.
You see him on Sundays.
NFL kickoff 11 Eastern on Fox.
He's our buddy.
Peter Schreger stops by.
We like to get him in every week.
Oh, I just saw this.
Okay, I don't know.
I'll throw this at you.
I don't know if it's a curveball.
Brady practice today.
Tom Brady practiced today.
I thought he took Wednesdays off.
So is that like a story or a non-story?
Can I tell you something?
I don't want to dismiss any other reporter on this thing.
all season last year, Brady was taking Thursdays off.
This year he's been taking Wednesdays off.
I don't think this was as much of a big deal last day.
And a lot of veterans take days off.
And especially with that Buccaneers organization,
they would give certain players off on certain days.
So whether he played today or didn't play today,
I'm not making a big enough deal.
Look, we got an amazing game on Fox on Sunday.
Yeah.
Whether Brady practices on Wednesday or not,
it's not going to be the term of that game.
Yeah, well, I mean, by the way,
they just picked up Cole Beasley.
So it's very possible.
Brady's like, I want a day.
to get to know him.
Yep.
I want to get some timing down with Cole Beasley, who, by the way, had over 80 catches
last year and there's a nice pickup with very good hands.
So, you know, it's interesting.
The Browns lost, they're blaming the coach.
The Jets won and Joe Flacco's beloved in New York.
What are the repercussions, or maybe that's the wrong word,
what's resonating after the Jets upset of the Browns?
Well, let me tell you something, Colin.
I'm in New York City right now, and I don't know if you can feel it,
but with Aaron Judge cheating home runs,
the Mets leading the NLEs, the Giants 2-0, and the Jets coming out with a victory that they lose 99 out of 100 times.
It feels like sports might be back in New York City for the first time of a decade.
Maybe the Knicks are over 500 this year too.
And the Jets fans are coming out of the woodwork, and there's reason to be excited.
Now, I know that game was a freak ending, but Colin, when you're talking about Garrett Wilson and Brees Hall, two rookies,
playmakers making big plays, that's the first time the Jets have had offensive skill position player.
making plays in big moments for the team in about since the Rex Ryan era.
The Jets, they have a Bengals team coming in here.
They're walking wounded.
They're getting sacked all over the place.
The Jets are suddenly alive, and this is a week after Robert Sala said he was taking receipts
for anybody who mocked him, and he's a 4-14 coach going into that game.
So there's sort of this good vibe, like Us Against the World thing, going with the Jets right now.
We'll see if they get smacked around by the Bengals or not.
but if they come out two and one with Flacco,
I know everyone's worried about when Zach Wilson comes back.
Let's keep an eye on that one if they're going to rush Wilson onto the field
if they're winning with Flacco.
Okay, so Raiders are 0-1-2, another coach after Brady can't win from New England.
Kyler makes probably the series of the play of the year.
What's been the reaction around the league on that?
That Kyler Murray is an absolute roller coaster ride,
and you just have to buckle up and endure it.
Like some people hate the style of play.
Others are like, look, I'm not a Cardinals fan.
I can watch this thing.
I talk to all the coaches around the league.
They're like, you watch Kyler, even when he takes a delay of game, you know,
with the two-point working, he just seems frustrated.
You know, Ertz drops the pass or it wasn't looking.
He like, the waves at Earth.
Like, that's the Kylo-Murrier experience.
The bads, they're really low.
The goods, they're higher than any other player in the league when he's doing what he does.
Look, even that play where he scores the game-time touchdown or before the conversion,
he holds the ball out from the seven yard line.
It just kind of walks it in and you're like,
Kyle, please just don't be so casual about it.
But you know, you ask around the league,
would they want him to be their quarterback?
A lot of coaches are like, no, that's not for me.
Cliff Kingsbury is married to this guy for the foreseeable future.
And after everyone wanted to fire Kingsbury,
five quarters into the NFL season,
here we are.
They have the same record as the Seahawks,
same record as the Rams,
the same record as the 49ers.
Tyler Murray, this guy is an absolute,
roller coaster ride and when it's good, it's great. But when it is bad, it is as bad as anywhere in the NFL.
Yeah, I mean, I always say this, that he and Aaron have turbulence, they're outspoken,
they're difficult, their stuff goes public, but in the end, great is great, and you've got to put up
with stuff and pay great in this league. And you got to pay Aaron, absolutely have to. I think you
have to pay Kyler Murray. Not everybody is Tua and coachable. Speaking of Tua, didn't play great
until the fourth quarter. Ravens have a bunch of rookies in the back end.
And when asked a whole, I watched that game again last night on the train.
It was on the network.
It was great.
What do we make of Miami?
Do you buy them?
What do you make of the performance?
Yeah, look, they're 2 and O and they've beaten now Bill Belichick's Patriots and John Harbour's
Ravens, the latter being in Baltimore.
So you've got to give them credit.
I'm holding out on crowning them just yet, though, because I'll tell you what, Josh Allen's
coming to town this week.
Josh Allen is 7 and 0 all time against the Miami Dolphins,
and Josh Allen has been an absolute nightmare for that franchise.
That win was special.
For Tua to keep stacking these wins,
that's what's going to take for us to be true believers.
And I think once you get into October and you're still playing competitive football,
and Tua is still doing this stuff,
then I think we can say that, yes, the dolphins are for real.
I want to wait to see what happens this week.
I mean, when I say it's 7 and 0, it's not just like, hey,
They beat them 1916 or they beat them 24, 21.
The bills have absolutely owned the Dolphins since 2016,
and Josh Allen has been an absolute terror.
This is the test.
Not going into Baltimore with that comeback.
This is the test.
You get the best of Josh Allen.
You slay that dragon.
You put that narrative to bed.
Then we can start talking about the dolphins in the same way that we're talking
about the bills,
talk about the chiefs.
And I'll still talk about, you know,
some of the teams that have been in the playoffs year after year after year.
The dolphins, it's been two games.
I'm still a wait-and-see mode.
All right.
You know, we go back to Aaron Rogers.
Now he's saying drugs are just plants.
I like it.
It's something.
I would say that all drugs start as plants.
And then they become drugs.
Heroin's a poppy seed.
Be that as it may.
Be that as it may.
This does feel like a big game for Aaron.
Humiliated in Tampa, lost a game he should have won at home in the playoffs.
It feels big, and we've seen them get marginalized by the Vikings and crush the bears.
It feels like rinse and repeat.
I've seen this.
They can't meet the good teams.
They wallop Detroit and Chicago.
What are your expectations of this weekend for Green Bay?
It is big.
And as I just said with Tua getting the best of Josh Allen, it's going to be important for Aaron
Rogers to notch another victory over Tom Brady.
He hasn't done that since 2014, a week 13 victory that I was at as a run.
reporter and before, you know, Brady actually had his whole other run with the Patriots where he
won those Super Bowls. He was back then and that's what we're looking at right now, which are out
for Rogers and goes into Tampa and look, the first week, they got absolutely annihilated by
the Vikings, as you said, but they got back, Elton Jenkins, big offensive guard,
a plentive tackle for them. And I think that played a huge role in his comfort. If you saw,
the offense changed, you know, Aaron Jones had only eight touches the first week. Second week,
he had 18 touches.
You know, A.J. Dylan had 18 carries last week.
I think that's going to be the Packers offense.
And this Buccaneers defense for as much as we talk about Brady
and how Gaunt his face looks and all the wide receivers
and whatever storylines you want with Brady,
the defense has now held the Cowboys to three points
and the Saints to just 10 points.
And that defense is tremendous in Tampa.
So to me, it's going to have to be this Rogers offense,
but Roger's offense 2.0.
He's not going to be throwing the ball to Christian Watson 14 times.
You're not going to see 10 catches at a Randall Cobb.
It's going to have to be Dylan and Jones.
And that resistance of knowing that's how you beat a defense like the Buccaneers.
And that's how this team advances.
That's going to be the story worth watching.
What can Rogers do to maximize what they have on that roster against what is an elite defense?
Schrager.
Great seeing you, Peter.
As always.
Thanks, buddy.
Great being on.
Love you, Colin.
All right.
You know, the Brady thing's interesting.
So he took 11 days off.
obviously it was for family. It's now well documented. He and his wife, you know, he retired and then
unretired and it didn't sit well with his family. So all this stuff's weird to talk about. And so this is like,
you know, I'm married. Many of you are married. This is like marriage life. It's sacrificing.
His wife was a supermodel when he met her, had far greater net worth, was well known. She was a much
bigger star than Tom when they first met and made internationally still is. And so, you know,
she's sacrificed for him. He hasn't sacrificed as much probably for her.
hasn't been present with the kids. Those are her words, her words, not mine. And so he retires,
and then unretires, and it doesn't sit well. And there's multiple pictures of Giselle in the New York
Post, crying, talking on the phone. And Tom now takes Wednesdays off to be with the family.
But this is interesting. Now they bring in Cole Beasley. Well, of course Tom's going to practice.
He wants to get timing down with Cole Beasley. And, you know, it'd be different if you're the
Green Bay Packers and you don't manipulate the cap and you don't bring people in. But Brady, since he's been in Tampa,
they're bringing in new pieces in the season, during the season, preseason, before the trading deadline.
So Tom's like, I got to go back to practice.
So this stuff is not easy.
Marriage is not easy.
Two people with, you know, robust careers is not easy.
And I think he's practicing, even though he was taking Wednesday out because he got Cole Beasley.
Do you think Jazeel understands when Tom comes home and says, hey, no Mike Evans this week, Giselle.
Russell Gage is probably out.
Godwin's out.
I got Beasley and Brashad Perryman.
I got to be at Wednesday practice.
Well, it's also Tom's face.
racing Aaron Rogers.
Yeah, it's a big game.
Well, they're iconic games.
That'll be the biggest game of the weekend.
Giselle will understand.
I will put money on it that she understands.
Tom needs to be in practice today and not pick up the kids from school.
No, but I will defend Tom on this one.
This week, Aaron Rogers, Evans out, Beasley Inn.
He probably doesn't want to take a day off.
May not play well at home, but I get that.
