Joy Taylor is joining me. Blazing five. At the top of next hour, I gave out my first blazing five pick last night. Ryan, did you see how it did, Joy? It went really well. It went very well. I gave you the Los Angeles Rams. Uncle Colin is like Santa in the fall here presenting you with Hundies.

It is great to have you, and how are you, Joy? Doing great. Very excited for this weekend. You know, Joy and I can't be fans. I mean, we grew up in certain areas. She, Pittsburgh, me, the Pacific Northwest, so I have a soft spot, sort of. I went to college in Cheney, Washington, and the Seattle Seahawks used to train there, and I would watch Steve Largent, my all-time favorite player when I was young,

and Jim Zorn and Sherman Smith and Dan Dornick. And I knew Eugene Robinson at Colgate, first year rookie at Cheney, and you didn't know who he was, and I knew he was going to be a star. miss those days and I love those days, but I've got to be honest about my Seattle football franchise. They're not good. They're not particularly well coached. And they are duct taped together by a Hall of Fame level quarterback Russell Wilson. Not everybody ages the same. My wife often says this to me, honey, please stay current. Don't get outdated. Seattle and Pete Carroll at 70 does not feel current. Defensively, the schemes feel outdated. Analytic people have been making fun of the

Seahawks offense for years. Pete Carroll is 70 and unlike Nick Sabin or Andy Reed, he is now starting to feel outdated. Pete, go on TikTok, Snapchat, IG. You feel old and your team looks old. I am not a backseat driver. I have been on this for two years. The Jamal Adams trade. felt desperate. It felt like an older coach trying to win that year. I like Jamal. Two first rounders, a third and a player for a safety, not even Ed Reed, probably worth that. Seattle is soft. They're noisy. They're mistake prone. They're a shell of themselves. And Russell Wilson should not tolerate this. I like Pete and I know Pete. But he had been fired twice in the NFL and had a losing record in Seattle, and Russell Wilson is why he's going to get a gold jacket.

And right now, Russell is carrying a franchise that's about ready to implode. They're not a good football team. They do not look current. They are on pace to give up the most yards in a season, in the Super Bowl era, and the score last night doesn't tell the story. It was not really 2617. Matt Stafford was awful in the first half. The Rams were terrible, but like everybody against the Hawks,

the Rams dominated the second half. They're just too desperate recently. They give away draft picks like dentists give away floss. Everything's about now because Pete's older. And since Paul Allen passed away, he's taken total control of the franchise. I don't like their drafts. They've whiffed on several first round picks. I mean ripped.

Whiffed. Rashad Penny? I said at the day they picked him. I had other GMs laughing at that pick. I don't like this franchise right now. Gotta come to terms with it. They're not well coached. They're not well run.

They feel outdated. They're noisy in the offseason. They're mistake prone. And Pete has an engaging personality. But he has always run very hot with players. New England. He did it with the Jets. He did it with USC.

And then he leaves. And there's scar tissue. tearing away at the fabric of this franchise. They're loose. They're a hot mess at times. They're defensively major gaps. I mean, they're not competitive now. If you start looking around that division, that defense is not going to be able to contain, come close to contain, Arizona and the Rams. They couldn't beat him at home. I mean, if it wasn't really for Matt Stafford's egregiously bad interception, this thing could have been far away. worse. Quadrae Diggs, Seahawk Defender, acknowledged the problems. At least he did that after the

game. We got a s' we need to fix, and everybody knows that. So at the end of the day, you know, you either do your job or you're not ready for this type of atmosphere. It's just plain and simple. All right, let's shift gears. We don't want to talk all about the losing team. I'd like to talk about a city of winners, Los Angeles. I can't remember the last time we lost a game in any sport. Anywho, in any relationship, don't give up too much of yourself. You women out there, creative, thoughtful, funny. The very thing he was attracted to he's now trying to suppress. Don't let him.

And you girls out there, he was always home a little late. He likes to have good time. Let him put on his party hat once in a while. In any relationship, don't give him. up too much of yourself. I think Sean McVeigh has given up too much of himself with Matt Stafford. Now, outside of Detroit, nobody really watched Stafford for the last 13 years. He was, if you didn't notice, on those 1 o'clock games, probably losing to, I don't know. Minnesota, Green Bay, everybody. And so here's what Matt Stafford is. Let's put some context to it.

He's very talented. He's not a tier one quarterback. He's not as dynamic as Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson or Kyler or Aaron Rogers. Stop. Stop. He's not. He's not that kind of athlete. He's talented.

And he's way, way, way up in the tier two. He could be the number one tier two quarterback, him and, you know, you name it. He's not a one. Trust your eye. He's got a good arm. It's not Moehm's. It's not Josh Allen. Good athlete.

It's not special. 13 years. Some injuries. Good arm. Mostly accurate. But last night, horrible rookie mistake in the red zone on a pick missed several open receivers. He's a very, very strong, solid upper tier two quarterback. Vegas, as we told you earlier, did not alter the line dramatic.

They were a five-win team with Stafford as a lion quarterback. He left. Goff entered. They were still a five-win team in Vegas. Rams were a 10-win team with Goff in Vegas. The trade happened. They were 10-and-a-half. Vegas cares about one thing.

Let us. Matt Stafford is better than Jared Goff. But we have to contextualize Stafford speak. He's very good and very talented. He ain't Kyler Murray. Not what I see. not Aaron, not Mahomes, not Lamar. He's not.

So, Sean McVeigh, and this is what happens in relationships. You fall in love. You give up all of yourself. He is perfect. She is perfect. I love her smokers cough. You'll get irritated. It just takes time.

Last year, the Rams had the second most play action passes in the NFL. They were clever and unique, and they were just. Just always moving areas and fooling people. Now they have the second least. They're kind of boring. Pedestrian. I like Matt Stafford, but he needs some clever too. McVeigh, to cover up Goff's flaws,

had the most unique-looking, clever, play action, misdirection. It was a blast to watch. They didn't even really look like anybody else. he gets Stafford, who is clearly better, and now they do more dropbacks than all but one team in the league. Sean, you've given up too much of yourself, too much of your wizardry. You're very smart. Use it. You're very clever. Be it. McVeigh, in this honeymoon period, has just given up all the tricks and the fun and the misdirection. First of all, Matt Stafford deserves that. too. And he's good. And you can, you can score a lot of points with Matt Stafford. But I mean,

if you're a magician, don't give up on all the magic tricks. I watch the Rams right now. They are 20th. Think about this. 20th in the NFL in plays per drive. Now, think about that. That's like bad teams are down there. 20th in plays per drive. That's with Sean McVeigh. a top five offensive coach with an excellent offensive line, a capable running game, and an outstanding wide receiver tight end group. That's not acceptable. That's like Jared Goff with a better arm.

Be careful about giving too much up of yourself. I mean, every time they have McVeigh and Stafford, I saw it again last night on the sideline next to each other, it's googly eyes. Oh, what do you do? weekend. I don't know. What do you doing? Want to get coffee? Mokicino? Sean, you're brilliant. Go back to being brilliant. Stafford's talented. But he's not Mahomes. Stop the googly eyes. Go back to being more of yourself. When the Rams are at their best,

they don't look like everybody else. That's the brilliance of McVeigh. When they came into this league. It was like everything was moving. And you can't go from second most play action passes to second least. You can go from second most to 13th, ninth, but Stafford deserves some of your brilliance.

Two. Allow them to see it. All right. I felt like a psychologist a little bit there. I know I was a little preachy, but sometimes I feel like I need to feed America the nourishment they need. You know what I mean?

Whatever. All right, Blazing 5, top of next hour. Also, a suggestion that Big Ben should be benched, and we will probe and see if it's actually worth discussing. David Carr of the NFL Network, older brother of the very talented Derek Carr, quarterback for the Raiders, in an NFL network article wrote about, could the Pittsburgh Steelers bench Ben Rothlisberger? Now, there's a lot of nostalgia here.

It's like Eli Manning and the New York Giants. I understand the power of nostalgia. Pittsburgh's a medium-sized market. The Steelers are a wildly successful franchise. There's a lot of love and connective tissue in this relationship, like Eli, New York. And the Giants, again, great franchise historically. But let me ask you, why can't you? In the last 10 games for Big Ben, he's 3 and 7, so you're not winning. So let's deep dive on the numbers. What kind of quarterback is he?

I'm mostly awful, 81 passer rating, 64% completion percentage, 17 touchdowns and 13 picks. That's his last 10 starts. Now, y'all out there want to bench Andy Dalton. Andy Dalton's Lucifer. He's the worst. You've got to bench him. He's got no talent. Andy Dalton's last 10 games, unlike Ben, he's 5 and 5, completing 66% of his throws,

2 to 1 touchdown ratio, and a 90 passer rating. And you can't sit Andy Dalton in that beautiful red hair any faster. Get that bum out of here. Well, Colin, who are we going to start? Are we going to start Duane Haskins? Let's go look at Dwayne Haskins last 10 starts. Oh, they look a lot like Ben's. up and down look a lot like Ben's.

And at least with Duane Haskins, there's a chance he could be the future. Pittsburgh's got to stop trying to convince themselves. They're losing for any other reason than Ben. First of all, receiving Corps, which matters in 2021, I think it's very good. I like Chase Claypool. We argued on the staff this morning. He's their second best receiver. Linebacking Corps?

Fantastic. What's new? It's Pittsburgh. T.J. Watt, elite pass rusher. Everybody in the league wants that. Minka Fitzpatrick, Star. Hayward, star. Offensive line. That's a problem, Colin. Well, pro football focus has it rated as the sixth best pass blocking offensive line in the league. It ain't that bad. Hall of Fame coach. They got a running back now. You're losing because of Ben. That's it. And I understand nostalgia.

Like I always understood the Eli New York situation because the Eli memories were so powerful. But Eli's memories should have been powerful. He outduled the greatest quarterback ever twice, Tom Brady, and the greatest coach ever, Bill Belichick twice. And in both those games, there was a throw that Eli Manning made that decided the game. One to Mario Manningham, which was amazing, and one to David Tyree. Eli led those teams, fourth quarter big throws. Big Ben hasn't had a dynamic shootout win in a playoff game in 11 years.

I went and Googled it this morning. And it won that dynamic. Two touchdowns against Joe Flacco in 2010, 31, 24 Steelers. Ben's nostalgia isn't close to Eli's nostalgia. you. Okay, Ben's first Super Bowl, he just didn't get in the way of it. Eli outduled the greatest quarterback ever twice and made magnificent throws in the fourth quarter against great defenses to win.

Y'all want to run Andy Dalton out of town. Last 10 games, he's a significantly better player. And by the way, I don't know if you've noticed, but Joe Burrell's really good. And Lamar Jackson wins 83% of it. of his games. And I'm not a Baker fan, but he's competent, I think. Joy with the news.

Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, let's talk a little bit about that division that Ben is in now, which isn't so terrible anymore. No, it's not. Starting with the Bengals at 3 and 1, and they are leading the AFC North right now, but they will have their biggest test of the season against the Packers this

weekend. And tight end, CJ Uzama, knows it would be a big statement if they were able to beat Green Bay. We get this win and we put the league on notice that we're here. You know, this isn't a three and one that just happens to be three and one. At this point, it's a four and one that just beat the Packers who are on a hot streak or on a run and have one of the hottest quarterbacks to play the game.

So that's what we're after. That's our goal and that's our mentality. And they also have two good tackles now. So their offensive lines, not great. But when you get the tackle situation settled, they have. The offensive line is not the liability. So he's not getting hit as much now. And the Jamar Chase pick, which was dubious, right, is now paying off.

Which also was a recommendation by him. By the way, Jayaeer Alexander Packer's best corner, probably not going to play. Just saying that may be in one of our blazing five picks. Well, Uzama's right. This is a win that would make a statement for the Bengals. This, to me, feels like the Broncos last week where if you beat the Ravens. You count.

This is a legitimate win. So they're at home. They're at home. I got to tell you something. The Packers only getting three points on Foxbat. Trust your eyes on this. Cincinnati's offense. The offensive line's getting better.

Just trust your eyes when you watch the Bengals. I know it's hard to overcome the cheapness and their history. But you got to – you fans out there are good at this. Watch the games and trust your eyes. Burrow is getting really good, really fast. Their weapons are excellent. Their protections better. Green Bay is going to be in a real dog fight in this game.

It's a real game. It does feel, it feels like a step up, but it was my hesitation. Yes. With the Broncos last week because there are three wins. They've come over to the Vikings who are one and three. Yes. The Steelers who are one and three, as we just discussed. And the Jags who are 0 and 4.

Well, I fall in love. You're more reticent to that. I fall in love with Teams fast. Yeah, you got to prove it to me. Uh-huh, yeah. You're going to earn this loving. But I do love Joe Burrow, and they are taking steps up, which is what you want to see. So I do think the Packers will win this weekend, but I'm very interested in this game,

and this would be a statement win for the Cincinnati. We should be honestly, America, and this is nothing against Green Bay, I swear to God, because you're going to be fine. We should root for Cincinnati here. Yeah, I think I'm rooting for Cincinnati. The NFL is got it. Even if the Packers lose, they'll be fine. Yeah, be fine.

But there's four or five of these teams in the league, like Detroit and the Jets. It'd be great if one of them could pop and get out of the cellar. That's why I'd like to see Jacksonville get it right. Like, let's get them out of the cellar and make them interesting. No, everyone thinks that you and I root for people to, well, I guess we are. We root for interesting. I'm not rooting for the Packers to lose. No, but if the Bengals win.

And they're four and one, it's good for the league. It is good for the league. It's a good story. actually rooting for everyone to be good, or at least competitive and interesting. When you're terrible and you can't win a game and there's nothing functional about your organization and you have terrible quarterback play and the coaching's awful, we can't talk about you. We need stuff to talk about.

You can only rejoice in a disaster for so long before it turns to ashes and there's nothing else to talk about. How great of a story is at Monday? If you and I are saying Cincinnati's good? Yeah. Yes. By the way. Because also that transforms.

that division from just being what it has been for over a decade, which is just the Ravens and the Steelers. No, and by the way. That's why it's great that the Browns are competitive. Absolutely. Listen, you and I have been getting hate for two years. We bailed on the Steelers the last, I have really, in the last two years. But it's like, it's changing.

You have to, that's why Big Ben, you've got to pivot off this. The division's now legitimate. Well, they're not going to. Yeah. But Baker Mayfield, speaking of the Browns, is reportedly playing through a torn laborman and his non-throwing shoulder. His teammate, Odell, is dealt with plenty of injuries

throughout his career, and he revealed that he feels for Baker because he's playing with the same injury. I don't really care to talk about injuries, but I've had this since college. It's the same thing. He's got, I guess y'all found out. I've been headed for 10 years now. I don't want to be on a surgeon table anymore,

so you know, you keep working it, you work the muscles around it, you do all of that, and then you just go out and play. Forget about it. by the time you get out there, forget about it. I actually was shocked by this. Odell Beckham's been playing with a torn labrum. Now, it's one thing as a quarterback, and it's your other shoulder.

But torn labrums, I've never had one of these, but it's a very painful to move your arm up. As a wide receiver, how in the heck has he caught the ball over his... I was kind of amazed that O'Dell said that. I'm like, wide receivers are all about extensions and catching radius. I'm like, Odell's tough. That's a painful injury. Yes. I mean, you're going to play in the league for this long.

You're going to have to play through injuries. And to his point, he doesn't want to continue to do surgery. Surgery is a long process and you have to rehab it and come back. And sometimes for some of these injuries, it's worth it to just manage it rather than get another surgery. No, no. Greg Olson told us that. You know, rehab is no fun. Well, also, I think it was Jordan Palmer who was talking about Joe Burroughs injury.

I think it was Jordan Palmer, who said, you just have to. to accept, or maybe it was Mark Schlaerth who's had an insane amount of injuries. You just have to accept that you're just never going to be, whatever that version of 100% was before you got injured, you're never going to be that again. So whatever your new version of 100% is with that new pain tolerance and spectrum and mobility, that's what you have to get comfortable with. And when you're dealing with a ton of injuries like this, that's what it is. And that's what this league is.

But yeah, to your point, it's incredible the amount of injuries these guys play through. I mean, I have like a broken nail, and I'm just like, I'm done for the day. Dude, I had a, I had a, we're done today. I had a fever on Monday. I'm like, I got to check out. I just got to drink fluids all day. I've just knocked me out. I had two hour naps in the middle of the day.

This is another great game, though. Browns plus two and a half against the Chargers. Oh, that's in my Blazing Five. That is a very tasty game. In Los Angeles, according to Fox Bet. That's a very interesting game. So this weekend's actually really packed. We also have the Deontze Wilder Tyson Fury fight.

You'll be there. I will be there. I was not invited. No big deal. Oh. Well, I'm not going to get bitter about it, but it would have been nice to get an invitation. Anyway, what's the story? Well, Wilder entered the second fight against Tyson Fury in a massive costume.

We were both at the second fight. Yes. And it was a spectacle, if you can remember. This was Tyson Fury's outfit. I'm sorry, this is De Yonte Wilder's outfit. Tyson Fury came out on like this, like, altar or something. Anyway, it took like a half an hour for both fighters to get to the ring. It was ridiculous.

And I like all the pageantry and all that. But like, I was like, all right. I can only stand for so long in these heels. Like, let's get to the ring and get fighting. So he was wearing this big costume, which he later said weighed him down because Wilder came out second. So he was in this contraption for, I don't know, 20, almost 30 minutes. And he said it took some out of his legs because it was so heavy. Well, on Saturday night, he still plans to wear a costume by the designer.

Designers Cosmo and Donato told TMZ that it will be significantly lighter this time around. Good choice. And they said that he's tried it on to make sure. will not affect his ability to fight, and that he's very happy with the result. It will have a red and black theme, and the first costume weighed around 40 pounds, which is so, so ridiculous.

Like, I get it. Very few people, I think, actually in the business, not to toot our own horn, but Hong Kong, we get it more than anyone else when it comes to fighting and what's selling the fight takes and the personalities and what this whole thing is, because it's entertainment. Yeah.

But, man, I mean, if it's going to, affect your actual ability to fight. Throw a towel on and get to the ring, man. Just get a nice robe. Does everybody understand the nervousness, the anxiety that a fighter has going into that ring? That saps energy. Yes.

That, I mean, that's why, and guys, by the way, often are cutting weight or manipulating their bodies. Like, the idea that I'd have a 40-pound dumbbells, I walk out to a fight and breathing issues, it's so dumb. It's just not, it's not, it's nonsense is what it is. It's just absolutely nonsense. There's very functional fashion that you can wear that doesn't weigh anything that will make the statement the same. So I am actually now interested to see what it is because he said this has affected him the last time he fought.

And if it's 40 pounds, then that actually makes sense. Now, listen, that's not an excuse. I don't want to hear about that. That was a choice that you made to wear that. And I like Wilder in this fight. Tyson said he put on 20 pounds, which I don't know if I love that either. I like Wilder to win a, I would say, a. a little tentative.

So Jaya Alexander's an enormously gifted corner. He's all banged up. Here comes Cincinnati. Packers are off that Steelers. Iconic. game. And you know the Green Bay personnel well. This happens, as you know, Greg, in an NFL season, that a young, talented team, the locker room doesn't quite respect them as much as maybe they should. I look at Cincinnati at home this weekend and I think, oh, this is a danger spot. This thing has

upset written all over it. Am I nuts? No, absolutely not. And neither are the Green Bay Packers. They're aware of that. But it's one thing to be aware of it. And it's another thing to go out and not allow it to actually happen. I've been on several teams where we've been the favorite and we've gone into situations where we knew we were the better team, but we played to the level of our competition. And we made it a dog fight and had a chance to either end up losing that game or winning it. And so when you think about the Bengals, this is not a bad team. No.

Period. It's kind of like the Browns a couple years ago. Or even last year when everybody was still questioning, well, I don't know how good. the Browns really is. Are they still the Browns? No, they're not. And they believe that they weren't. The Cincinnati Bengals now believe that they are not the same Bengals. None of these guys on this team or on this roster experience all those consecutive years of just losing, losing, losing. This is a fresh new roster of young guys with the quarterback at the helm that truly believed that he is the reason and one of the reasons for change in this, within this organization.

The Packers should be Leary. And I think when I say Leary, not concerned about the Bengals, but treating them like a favorable opponent, period. Yeah. You know, it's interesting. I never give smart people, if you're smart, you can't get conveniently airheaded, right? Like Aaron's smart. Aaron's smart.

He starts flirting with the Steelers and Mike Tomlin. Now, let's think about this. What team in the NFL? Aaron won a Super Bowl with the best defense. he ever had. The Packers were number two defense the year you guys want it. What team next year with a top defense and a Super Bowl winning

coach and excellent receivers is going to have an opening at quarterback? I mean, Greg, I'm not naive. He threw that out there, right? The flirting, the goo-goo eyes. He threw that out. He wants Pittsburgh to know, right? I may be available.

Yeah, no, I think that's a stretch to think that he was actually thinking about that during the game. I think he respects Mike Tomlin. One thing I will say, and it is a potential possibility. Yeah. And one of the reasons why is because of that moment, he respects smart coaches. He knows Mike Tomlin.

That's never happened to Aaron Rogers in his career where he gets up to the line and he's about to get that free play and a coach calls time out because no one wants to waste that time out. But Mike Tomlin's like, I'm not going to give you this free play. I'll waste this time out. because it's going to benefit my team. It allows us to get the personnel that we want on the field, puts us in the best situation to defend against whatever it is you're going to present

as a possible opportunity for you or leverage that you may have. So I think he respects that. And what you saw was, ah, you got me. You luck you got me. But I think even digging a little deeper into that, it would be a situation that I think he would consider, one, because of all of what you mentioned. but I think on top of that, knowing he trusts or not so much trust, but he believes that

Mike Tomlin is a smart coach. He believes that he's a coach that, and this is the organization that's not about rebuilding. The Pittsburgh Steelers is just not about rebuilding. You saw that. That's why they still have been Rodersburg at quarterback. Yeah, they got good receivers, good linebackers, the O lines rated higher than the experts would lead you to believe. So I said this is that we all age differently. You have aged very well because you eat carrots all day, do sit-ups, so you look fantastic. And me, not so much. I still like cocktails. But we all age

differently. And Nick Saban has been very progressive with his offenses. Andy Reed is still one of the great play designers. Not all older coaches do that, as you know, or older players. Some guys never grow up. Pete Carroll's 70.

He looks fantastic. But the defense, the schemes feel outdated. The analytic people for years have been ripping their offense as predictable in Jurassic. And I watched them last night. They feel like at times a bad team with a great quarterback with a couple of really nice pieces, D.K., Bobby, Russell, but I don't think they're close. I don't think they're a good football team. I think Russell puts a band-aid on a lot of their ills and problems. What did you see last night? Well, I will say this. That's the case for a

lot of teams in the National Football League. You unplug what we all deem to be the most important position in football quarterback, and a lot of these teams don't look the same. So I will say the quarterbacks, pending how great they are, they band-aid or they mask a lot of your, your inabilities to be a really good team without them. Let's just say that. But the Seattle Seahawks, I think they are a good team. Do I think they are an elite team? I do not. Because even offensively, when we watch them with Russell Wilson, they don't have the consistency of actually putting the ball in the end zone, putting pressure on the defense or on their opponent to allow their defense to then play with an advantage. And then you look at them defensively and they just struggle.

Teams kind of do what they want at will and then sometimes they'll be great. There's just too many roller coaster peaks and valleys when you look at this team. And it's something that we never became accustomed to once Pete Carroll took over as head coach because of all those great defenses. Now it's a matter of. yes, we've caught up to the scheme, but you don't even have the personnel necessarily to fit what it is you're trying to stick with in what was previously successful. Yeah, no, I think you're right. They don't have the personnel to do what some perceive as an outdated scheme. That's a well put. By the way, you face Matt Stafford. I said this, we've got to settle down on Matt Stafford. Your eyes don't lie. He's not Mahomes. He's not Aaron. He's not Kyler. He's not Lamar dynamic. He's not Josh Allen. He's got a good arm. It's been banged up a little. He's certainly talented. I'm not saying that.

But my eyes don't lie. He's not super athletic. He's had some injuries. He misses open throws. He made a terrible mistake in the first half. He's very talented. But I think sometimes we just have decided to just put him in that top five. And it's like, no, let's not do that.

That's a very elite club. He can be at the top of tier two. So I watch him last night. And it worries me that the Rams now have gone from the second most play action passes, very clever with golf, a lot of tricks, to the second least. And they look kind of ordinary. that everything's just a straight drop. And I'm like, I think McVeigh's given up too much of his magic tricks, too much,

and that Stafford deserves some of those. And that's sort of the calling card of McVeigh. I guess my point is, I like Stafford. You've seen him a lot. He needs help too with Clever. I don't think he's Mahomes. I don't think he's Lamar. Yeah, you're right.

When you look at the Rams offense, and I'll go even to Green Bay. They run a very similar offense. We see a lot of action. We see a lot of run faking. We see a lot of RPO. Yes. We see their run game involved in everything they do. That was the success of the Rams.

That was the calling card of the Rams. No matter how great their golf, what Jared Gough was playing, he still had that running game that was going to be the forefront of what they did. It was going to sell. That's why their offensive line loves the system because they always were in an aggressive position as an offensive lineman, and you typically don't see that across the National Football League in today's game. They're always in a defensive mode, letting the defenders get the advantage and rush after them versus them being the aggressor. And what I think

has gone kind of wrong or awry when you look at the Rams is you get a quarterback that has all these tools in his toolbox. And you haven't had that. And you just want to see what he has. And so you go away from what consistently allowed you to be successful, even with what you had at quarterback in Jared Gough and the things that he didn't do that you were able to mask because of the system. I think if they go back to what they do well, which is let their action game, their run game be the kind of the mirroring factor of everything and match that with all that they do, Matthew Stafford is still going to be a great choice and a great option for them deep into the season. But to just put it on him, we've seen that before.

And it's never been successful, even in Detroit when he had all those weapons. Yeah. Good seeing you, Greg. Have a great weekend. Absolutely, you too. Take care, guys. First impressions are really powerful. I mean, I still have memories from childhood when I was like seven or eight years old. And you go to a psychologist. You sit in a couch. And years and years ago, I had a friend Peter Latterhouse. He was a psychologist. And I did a day therapy. thing, just kind of clean my head out, was going through some stuff. And it was fascinating. You

write your life on a board and different experiences and what you find out is you embellish them. Things generally, generally are not as bad as you think as a kid. Your memories are, oh, my life was spinning out of control and you were just a goofy kid. And that's why first impressions are really powerful. And they're often unfair. So Daniel Jones of the Giants went six in the draft. So you didn't watch him at Duke at all. Don't pretend you did. He went six in the draft. And our initial reaction was, the hell's going on?

That's ridiculous. And we didn't like the general manager who drafted him. Dave Gettelman. Gettlement doesn't know what he's doing. He's not the sixth. And his first game, I think, was at Tampa. He was pretty good. But he struggled.

And he turned the ball over a lot. A lot. And so our first impressions of Daniel Jones are he's a turnover machine and not very good. And then all of a sudden you look up and you're like, he doesn't turn the ball over anymore. And he's kind of good. And now just think about his body. 652.40 and runs a 4-840.

Justin Herbert 6.5.2.38 and ran a 4-740. Now Herbert probably has the better arm, but he is a big, strong athlete who can move. And he no longer turns the football over. Daniel Jones is not the Giants problem. And now that Andrew Thomas, their left tackle, is playing well, and there's a lot of weapons here, that Dallas Giants game is going to be potentially a shootout. I went this morning and I looked at his completion percentage this year.

It's 67%. 300 yards a game, 8 yards per attempt, and a passer rating of almost 100. Daniel Jones, and that's behind not a great O line. Daniel Jones is not the problem. If you look at his size, he would stand right next to Justin Herbert, and they would be the same size. And they're about the same speed.

Herbert ran a 4-7 at the combine, and Daniel ran a 4-8 at the combine. If you run 40 yards, the difference between a 4-8 and a 4-7 is, I've already said it, and you can't even measure it because it's so fast. It's just one leaned a little faster. You've seen Daniel run. Yes, he once fell running by himself, and you've seen Herbert run. They're both athletic enough.

Herbert does have a better arm, a very, very big arm, a rare top eight, nine arm in the league. But I think our first impressions of Daniel Jones now are getting in the way of reality. I watched him last week. I watched almost all that game and he's not the issue. I will say this. Jason Garrett, who I like and know is a little conservative for my taste as an offensive coordinator. Now, Jason deserves a lot of credit.

He confronted Daniel Jones last year. I called him. We talked about this. He said, dude, you're not going to last in this league. Stop fumbling. He had 32 fumbling. in three years. It was like it was embarrassing. It was James Winston Interceptions. It was insane. He's cut those out. He's got one this year. He's lost one. He's got one pick. So I, I think we got

to be fair about this with our athletes is that sometimes they're ugly starts. We've done a lot of this with Derek Carr. He goes to Fresno State. He inherits a bad situation. He may, he gets hurt as a bad year. And then you look up and you're like, Derek Carr's a really good quarterback. Derek Carr's a really good quarterback. Daniel Jones is okay. I don't think he's a problem. He's a big strong kid that can move. And as long as he doesn't turn the ball over, I mean, you watch the highlights here. He throws a really pretty ball. They have Darius Slayton. They have the rookie out of Florida. They have Kenny Gulladay. They have Seekwan Barclay. Now they have a legitimate Evan Ingram at Tide End, Andrew Thomas at left tackle. We don't love Gettleman.

We don't like where he's drafted and we didn't like the fumbles. Totally fair. But you've got to be able to pivot to the truth. We always say in this show, it's not about being right. It's about getting it right. Daniel Jones is not their problem. That's not their problem right now. You can blame Jason Garrett. I can hear that. He can get really, really conservative. I think they have to let Daniel a little loose. I think they got to let them loose because I don't think you're going to shut down the Cowboys. Cowboys are going to get into the 30s this weekend, but I think it's not in my Blazing Five, but I would take the Giants and the points. I think they're going to be competitive.
