You know, it used to be that the Yankees were such a proud franchise. I mean, all they do now is beat the American League Central in the playoffs, right? Like, that's what they do.

Take out those wins, and they're like way under 500. But it used to be, like, at least Yankee fans were knowledgeable and had some self-awareness. they're all getting fired up off last night and they're just getting played and so we start with that yes the Yankees won 11 to 4

what a night they trail now 3 to 1 in the series there's three games left and a tour in L.A the guy that started for the Dodgers is only the second pitcher ever to make its first start in a world series the Dodgers

punted last night it's called strategy. You'll see even great tennis players in a grand slam event to conserve energy, get down in a game or a set, and just punt it for the next set. You get down 5 to 1, punt it, you know,

to get to the next set. That's all the Dodgers did. That's why what Dave Roberts is doing is very shrewd. He's not just managing the Dodgers. He's managing resources. They don't have any pitchers, and the ones they do are really good? I mean, Walker Bueller, if that's the new Walker

Bueller, this series is over. I mean, Yamamoto, Flaherty, we know those guys are good. We know the top relievers are good. Ask the Padres Mets and the Dodgers. Podre's Mets, excuse me, and the Yankees. But all last night was was strategy. It was basically, you know, it's like chess. The Yankees got a pawn last night.

They didn't get a queen. That's all that happened. I mean, do you really think the bottom seven, eight, nine hitters in your lineup in New York are now going to get red high. It's great that Austin Wells crushed. He's still only hitting a buck 30 in the series. Aaron Judge can't hit. The best relievers for the Dodgers are better than the best relievers for the Yankees,

and the best hitters for the Dodgers are better than the best hitters for the Yankees. The Yankees got seven runs out of their seven, eight, and nine hitters. You got a pawn. It's strategy. It's conserving energy. I mean, Dave, I mean, Aaron, judge is still hitting a buck 52. Freddie Freeman

still on fire. The best pitchers for the Yankees Garrett Cole goes, there's your shot, but then you're heading back to LA even if the Yankees win tonight. So it's one of those things like Yankee fans, hello, do you see what's going on? We said yesterday

on this show, Yankees are going to win this thing. It's a bullpen session. And by the way, Dodgers get a lead. They're like, we may wrap this puppy up. But by the time the Yankees hit the grand slam, it's like, all right, empty the bullpen. Here's Dave Roberts, who is playing chess after. It's challenging.

I think that you've got to be certain that you can score some runs. There's certainly any guy that we use tonight would have not been able to pitch tomorrow. And being down to going into that last half, it just doesn't make sense to use one of your leverage guys. as far as outcomes to have, you know, six guys in your pen that are feeling good, rested. I feel good about that and being up 3-1. Yeah, yeah. So I wouldn't be shocked if Garrett Cole gives you six great innings tonight. And by the way, if I'm Aaron Boone and he gives you 88 great pitches, let him go.

Let him go. Because you don't, there's one guy so far we've seen on this Yankee staff that can mow through the diet. And that's Garrett Cole. So in game one, he was excellent. 88 pitches they pulled him. Series went downhill really quickly. Let him go. Because this puppy's going back to L.A.

And the Dodgers are rested. Their bullpen is rested and ready to roll. So this was kind of a thing that broke on yesterday's show. But it needs to be contextualized. So Shane Steichen's the coach of the Indianapolis Colts. He's really good. Years and years and years ago, he was with the Chargers. And a friend of mine, Tom Telesco, who was the GM, said,

man, we got this young coach, Shane Steichen. He had Herbert. He's like, this guy's going to be a star head coach. He is really sharp. So when Shane Steichen made Jalen Hertz almost the MVP, he made Justin Herbert set all the rookie quarterback records. And when Anthony Richardson, he waved the white flag. He's like, I give up.

He put in Joe Flacco. And the quote is, going forward, the Colts are going to play Joe Flacco. For the record, I think it's the right move. I think Joe Flackle is going to win a bunch of games. And I think the Colts have a very good team. They're being held back. But now here comes, now you see this in the media. Protect the young athlete.

Josh Allen and Anthony Richardson through 10 career starts. It was dead even. Slight edge Anthony Richardson. Okay. You have to watch the games. You want to go to stats? Justin Fields, who got benched in Pittsburgh. And Russell Wilson came in, and the offense is much better.

Justin Fields right now is a higher passer rating than Matt Stafford. Gino Smith is better than Patrick Mahomes statistically at every category this year. Have you watched the Chiefs in Mahomes in big spots? Third down, fourth down, goal line. Gino Smith statistically is better than Mahomes. Not in your life. Justin Fields is better statistically than Matt Stafford. What are we talking about?

So let's talk about Josh Allen. When he went to the bills, they had nothing to work with. They had two good receivers, I think, because one, Robert Foster, I've never heard of. They had no running game. Josh Allen was the running game. He was their offense. And he came in as a much, much more Ballyhooed prospect out of college. Anthony Richardson had 13 college starts.

He wasn't good in college. But Anthony Richardson has a top five running back, Jonathan Taylor, a brilliant offensive coach Shane Steichen, excellent wide receiver talent, and the top five offensive line, according to PFF. And he's getting worse. He's getting worse by the start. Also, Anthony Richardson took himself out of the game and said,

I was tired, so his self-awareness appears to be below average, and his mechanics aren't getting better. But you've got to contextualize this. You can't go to 10 starts. Okay, what was Indianapolis like? Indianapolis. is a quarterback away.

And from first year to this year, he's gotten significantly worse. Josh Allen came to an offense with a defensive culture in Sean McDermott that had nothing. Receivers, tight ends, run game, O-line, none of it was good. None of it.

And also, Josh Allen got, even within his first rookie season, Josh Allen's first six games, he had two touchdown passes. He was overwhelmed. The game was fast. His last, six games of his rookie season. He quadrupled that and had eight touchdown passes. So even within

the first season, you could see Josh Allen go from, whoa, this game is fast. Whoa, I'm making mistakes to settle down, quadrupled his touchdowns. He was a real guy. So not to mention, Josh Allen went from like five and six first year to 10 and six second year. Whoa, we got a superstar to 13 and three and he's on his way. So you could see every four or five stars. Josh Allen was getting noticeably better with nothing around him. Anthony Richardson has real weapons around him. Pitman, Downs, Jonathan Taylor, a top offensive line, a brilliant offensive coach. And it's man overboard.

Man's like life preservers. This thing is sinking. So this is not like Shane Steichen is rooting against the kid, right? This is a tough decision because since Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck have both left, they're just desperately trying to find the quarterback. It's as if the media thinks some in the media think the Colts wanted this to happen. They wanted this to work. They're seeing C.J. Stroud beat him three out of the last four times.

The Colts don't want to do this. The owner doesn't want to do it. Chris Ballard, the GM doesn't want to do it. Shane Steichen doesn't want to go to Joe Flacco. This isn't in the plan. But sometimes when you have a really good roster with really good players, the Colts do, they really do. It's a really good roster.

This is a winnable division with a rockel. right quarterback. You don't even need a great quarterback. I'll make the argument if Joe Flacco stays upright, they're going to reel off wins and potentially be a nine or a 10 win team looking at a wild card spot. Now the jets are bad, the dolphins are wonky. Colts could fight for a playoff spot. Here is Ryan Kelly, the team center on Richardson asking bizarrely out of the game Sunday. We had a conversation about it, and I think you know, I think you know, that he needs to play up to and the rest of the team holds them too. And I'll kind of leave the conversation that we had at that.

But, you know, I'm sure he's going to take some criticism for that. Just rightfully so, right? I mean, that's a tough, tough look. He's young. I'm sure it's a learning moment for him. And I'll leave it that. Yeah. The Colts would prefer not to do this.

This is not what teams want to do. The Chargers didn't start Justin Herbert and think, we hope it fails. And by year two, we're moving to a veteran. You're praying this stuff works because all you have to do is look at the standings right now. Best quarterback is winning the AFC East. Best quarterback is winning the AFC South. Best quarterback is winning the AFC West.

The best quarterback is within a game in the AFC North. I mean, go over the NFC. Best quarterback leads the NFC South. Arguably, Stafford and Kyler Murray, you know, Kyler Murray right now currently leads the NFC West. I don't think he'll stay there. Best quarterback wins divisions. and you draft one hoping in the first round it works.

This Anthony Richardson, I talked about this yesterday. Wall Street, Silicon Valley, and the NFL. A lot of billionaires. Billionaires aren't patient. Billionaires are not patient. This is a playoff roster with it. It's the rare situation, playoff roster, and the quarterback is holding you back. Good luck to Joe Flacko.

Jay Mack, a lot of stuff going on. So there was a moment in that Yankee game, a ball gets it over, and Mookie Betts goes over to get it. and Yankee fans are fighting with mokey bats and people, you know, people got all, they got all worked up about it. Well, I mean, I refer to the guy as Joey Bag of Donuts, you know, front row. He's like, oh, let me grab this. Colin, you can't do it.

It's a bad look for Yankees fans. I mean, the guys were rejected instantly, right? Well, I think they're going to be allowed back tonight. You think they're going to get back in the state? No way. Yeah, he's a season ticket holder. You think you're going to let him back in a night after? We are letting him back in.

there are things I love. about being a guy, but you have to be careful about, you know, hanging around. For guys, you have to be very careful about who you hang around, especially if there's cocktails included. You put a bunch of guys together. There's not a lot of high-level thinking at a frat party. Guys get dumber if they're around other guys. Guys will do things in groups of other men they would never do.

It's called herd mentality, and that's not a slogan for my show. It's just the reality of men. I wish this was just an opinion or a theory. have done studies on this. Guys get dumber when they're around other guys. And they do things. So here's what happens. The name of the guy here is Austin Cappo Bianco.

He's a season ticket holder. And he and his buddy do something they shouldn't have done. And here it is. Slide the right by Torres. Bet's in the corner. Does he have room? Fights with the fan. And they're going to say that it's an out.

in fan interference. So an out, one gone in this first. It's the second time that Glavertoys has hit a ball that has ended up in fan interference in this series. He had the home run turned into a double back at Dodger Stadium. And yeah, that says that ball in his glove, and this fan literally tries to take his glove off. Yeah.

Tries the ball out of there. Mookie Betts is like no big deal, because Mookie Betts is smarter than those guys, and Mookie Betts realizes just, Guys, maybe a beer in, you're not getting high-level thinking. Yeah, they got thrown out. They knew they would. But literally, Copo Bianco said, I patrol the wall, and they know it.

He sees himself as very valuable. He thinks it should be in Monument Park, Garrig, Ruth, and him. I mean, that's what you get guys around each other, and that's what they think. So, you know, obviously you have to throw them out. But, I mean, I see this all the time. When you jam fans, you know, next to. athletes in the NBA, you got fans on the court, you lubricate them with cocktails they're served, and don't be shocked if a half a dozen times during the year minimum, you have to throw some fans out.

So, I mean, again, this guy thinks he's very valuable and very important. He thinks, honestly, if it wasn't for his high school baseball coach not liking him, right now he should be inserted into the lineup and not Aaron Judge. I mean, they've done studies on this where 75% of men think they would be pro athletes, if not for a coach who had it out for them or an injury. So as a guy, when you put guys together, I've just baked this into society. This is what they do in these big spots.

They're going to be invited back. Their season ticket holders, they view themselves. It's very tribal and territorial. That wall is theirs. It's not the Dodgers. I don't think it's the end of the world. People are saying it should be a salt. Mookie Betts, smarter than everybody in that space is like,

it's no big deal. We're all going to be good. And we all are going to be good. But that's just the reality of, you know, this isn't the first time this happened. This happened again, was it the Orioles Yankees years ago? I mean, this stuff happens in sports. And if you want to charge fans increasingly hundreds of dollars to go to a game and you want them to be season ticket holders, they're all in. These fans are all in.

And, I mean, that's what makes sports great. Remember when we had COVID and you had to fake fans, sports didn't feel the same. And so you're always talking. sowing a line. I mean, you could not serve alcohol. You could do that, but teams want to do that because they have big deals with Budweiser and Miller and all those companies. So there's always been this line where you try to keep fans as far enough away from players as you can, but you got to get them close because you can charge them more and you want to serve them beer. This is American sports. It's not the end of the world. J-Mack doesn't think these guys should be allowed

back in. And a lot of people have that sort of feeling and my take is we've got to take a deep breath. Sports is imperfect. Part of the whole fan player experience and alcohol. You put guys together. You get really bad judgment. You don't get

nuanced reasoning and sportsmanship. This is part of what you get. So it's less about the guy who caught it. Look at his buddy who grabs Betts his wrist. While he's jumping. That's not smarter safe. Just think in any other sport, if you if a fan's grabbing you an NFL player

in the other stands, an NBA player, it's going to get ugly pretty quickly. I don't think these guys have any business being at the games. And I'm a Yankee fan. Like, this is just embarrassing. Like, they should not be back a lot back. You and I would be embarrassed. I mean, if I was on TV doing this, I would be embarrassed.

You would go for the ball, but you're not grabbing Mukki Betz's wrist. Of course I wouldn't. But, you know, I think in their life, they view themselves as the Grand Slam and that moment were the keys to the game. They're probably like, do you want me on the postgame show? I've got plenty of time here.

I get it. Jay Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. I guess they're 15 minutes of fame. Soak it up, you know, try to become an influencer online. You know, who knows where this can be.

I have said this for years. The idea of being a season ticket holder in baseball, like I like going to games. But unless you're retired, who has time to go to 81 games? These are season ticket holders. This is a big part of their life. The Yankees love that it's a big part of their life. So, I mean, I, one of the things my wife and I talk about all the time, I can't believe on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday nights in America, you're going to games and seeing people go into these games and getting home at one in the morning. That's what makes sports great.

And I've just baked it in. You're going to have these weird moments with fans. Two things drive smart men crazy and make smart men stupid. Beautiful women in sports. beautiful women in sports make even smart guys dumb we could probably add politics to that list

but I'm just seeing a report now that one of these gentlemen is going to throw out the opening pitch tonight that's an early report I don't know if it's confirmed yet all right let's get to the hurd line the Eagles Colin

they're back on track after that third straight win they blew out the Cincinnati bungles I mean Jalen Hertz is on fire coming off his four touchdown performance last week he credits his success to learning from last season's failures saying I think our season's

started last year from my vantage point is something I've learned a ton from, and I think it's benefited us now. Eagles big home favorites against the reeling jaguars. You believers yet in Philly? Well, I'm not, I don't think you can win Super Bowls or conference championships unless, if you have an average coach, unless you have great coordinators, I'm not sure the Eagles do. I like the Eagles this weekend, even though it's seven and a half. I think it's, I think because when Philadelphia is rolling. I think if I if you said what are the three or four best rosters in football, I would go Detroit, San Francisco, Baltimore now looks pretty good, and then I would say Philadelphia. And I think they're one of those teams where you cannot watch them play and not see the power,

athleticism, speed. So the minute they have an impressive win, we all come roaring back to the Eagles. You know, a lot of teams win. The Rams are super young. They can win and they don't blow you away. they just like schematically McVeigh and Stafford win. When Philly wins and blow somebody out, it's impressive looking because they have so many great players. So I get everybody back on board. I still hesitate with his team. I think they have four new defensive starters.

And if you look at the transitions they've made from that season opener against the Packers, remember Packers were carving them up, up and down the field with the big plays. You watch that Bengals game and the secondary starting to come together. It's just Philadelphia and Washington in that division have to make Jerry Jones really nervous, dude. I'm just, I don't see how the Cowboys

overtake either of those teams unless there's some massive injury. Yeah. Dallas is not looking good, man. Next story, let's go to the Cowboys, Colin. Lots of questions about the roster choices and contract management throughout the offseason and into the regular season.

Jerry Jones discussed his all-in comments from earlier this year. Once again, look to clarify what he meant going all in on DAC and CD. Good luck understanding Jerry Jones. They were really the principal reason you saw that all-in thing so much. I wanted to make that commitment with that. I've always looked at the dollars we spend in football and on the roster.

I've always looked at them as scholarships. When you give a lot of scholarships to any one player in terms of your cap, in terms of the dollars, then that's much less you've got to give to another player. I didn't make any sense to me. I don't understand it either. I listened to the whole thing twice before the show and I didn't get it. Listen, I know there's a lot of smart people in the Dallas organization. Can we tell Jerry, hey, got, Jerry, can we just, let's just dial back the radio interviews?

Let's let the more radio interviews he does through the years, they're getting progressively worse. Years ago, they were funny. They were kind of funny when he would say something. He'd make a point. Now there's a lot of rambling. and he's trying to tie the threads all together, and a lot of times I'm just left scratch in my head. The tours going through that stadium,

that's not the distraction. These interviews are the distraction. This is where we are with the Dallas Cowboys. By the way, Falcons Cowboys, Falcons 2.5. I actually like, you know what, from a betting perspective, I like Dallas. Remember Gino Smith carved up the Falcons, so Atlanta has no pass rush.

And so there are certain quarterbacks in this league when they have time to throw. Gino Smith looks like an A quarterback. Dak Prescott with time to throw can be a very, very solid quarterback. Kirk Cousins similarly. So I think Dak's going to have time to throw. The entire

season's on the line. The Falcons just came out of a wildly emotional division game. I think Atlanta is susceptible here. Of the next four or five weeks, this is the spot I actually like Dallas in. I would agree. I think a lot of scoring, but Colin, the pushback is

the last two performances they had that were good. Pittsburgh and Sanfran were outdoors. When they play indoors, and this one's entered Atlanta, they got blasted by Detroit, they got shredded by Baltimore for much of that game. We saw the New Orleans game. They got house.

They don't have the speed defensively. Bejohn, Drake London, even Mooney could have a big game here. I'd be careful, but I understand your sentiment with Cowboys bouncing back here. Final story, Colin, is Matt LaFleur. We heard from him yesterday about the matchup against the Lions. Really good game this

weekend, probably the best game of the weekend. He called the Lions, arguably, the NFL's best team. Well, Detroit got some more praise from Bill Belichick, who discussed with Jared Goff, just how good the Lions offense is. It's impossible, I think, for a defense to really stop your offense. It's really, there are too many weapons. The offensive line's too good. Blitzin's not the answer.

Not Blitzin's not the answer. I mean, I think you just got to, you know, in playing you guys, to me, it would just be hang on and try to create as many long drives and as many long situations as possible. But that's hard because you have so many explosive players and you do such a good job to distribute in the ball. It really is. I mean, if you were building an offense today in the NFL, you'd say, okay, let's start with a quarterback that can get us to a Super Bowl. Goff did. Give me a great offensive line to control the line of scrimmage.

Give me a good, deep threat, have it, and a great volume possession guy. with speed have it. Can we get a couple backs? Yeah, we'll give you the best combo in the league. Do we have a decent tight end? Sam Leporta. I mean, there's literally, oh, by the way, give me a clever young offensive coordinator. I mean, you honestly, this is a perfect offense. You would start with a Super Bowl level quarterback, a dominant O line, a deep threat, a possession threat, and then above average, tight end and running back set. And they have all of it. I mean, And I would argue if you just, if you took a pro bowl offense and you put it up against Detroit's, just Detroit's, they can compete with it. That's how good it is.

I just don't see a weakness. I mean, generally speaking, you know, you'll have like a grade O line and an excellent deep threat. They check like seven key boxes. I think Belichick's absolutely right. You don't stop Detroit. What you hope for is you could force a turnover or you. You create enough offense to keep their offense off the field and get them out of rhythm. But you're not going to want to track meet with them.

Nobody in the league. Baltimore may be. Green Bay kind of feels like there's a gap. But Kansas City doesn't have anything like this. You know, I occasionally give out nuggets on games. You liked them last week a lot. Detroit's first outdoor game this season. at Green Bay this week.

It's going to be a little chilly. Is it? Okay, I haven't checked the weather yet. I know it's going to be unseasonably warm on the East Coast for Halloween, but let's see this Sunday in Green Bay. And do they let the grass grow maybe to slow down this track team? This game is fascinating. I cannot wait for this game.

I don't even know if I'll bet on it, but I'm super excited. Who's quarterbacking for Green Bay? TBD. Yeah, I don't like that. If you gave me Jordan Love, I'd give you a shot. Malik Willis is not beating Detroit. That's a big ask. I think we asked that.

When did Malik Willis beat, didn't he be two decent teams earlier this year? He started games and people were like, oh yeah, he's not going to beat the, I think it was the Titans and Colto. Mountain of Youth, and he said he feels better than he has all year at practice, and here it is. Timo gave me a little fountain of youth, he said he's been taken for a while. All legal, of course. I've been kind of gassing him up, that's why I've been feeling a little bit better,

but he's been taking, like, cayenne pepper and water, so he gave me some before the game. So pretty good, but I've been kind of gassed him up, but that's why I'm feeling a little bit. so you've not sure how much that's playing a factor. He's become your crazy uncle who shows up at Thanksgiving and always has a new concoction or business idea. So if you have not followed the jet season, let me update on what happened. First, they fired the head coach five games in.

He was to blame. Then a week later, they demoted the offensive coordinator. He was to blame. The next stage was bringing in Aaron's buddy, Devonte Adams. They lost that game too. It didn't count. And now they've pivoted to Cayenne Pepperwater.

That is the four stages of football grief. That, I mean, they've run out of, they are, if they lose tomorrow night, he may do an in-season darkness retreat. I mean, that's where we at. And that is where we are at with Aaron Rogers. And all joking aside, you know what this New York Jets team looks like?

You know what they look like? A company without. a plan. They brought in Aaron Rogers, step one, and step two, we'll just see what works. They don't have any plan. They have no plan. This is what bad teams do, bad businesses do. You know, it's basically, it's having the baby to save the marriage.

We're going to bring in Aaron Rogers. Do you have the right coach? We're not sure. Coordinator, don't love him. Offensive line. brought in some new guys but they're old guys that's it this is a bad company step one bring an errand step two we'll see what sticks and um you know and i'll say i'll give my staff credit for this they handed this to me 10 minutes ago so i know you think i pick on errand so they went back the

last four seasons this is too heavy and too much data for the radio audience i apologize but they went back this this whole thing is about the decline of aaron And they went back to the 2020 season, the 2021, the 2022, the 2024. Because remember, 2023, played four snaps, didn't play. Look at the drop-off. Forget the wins. Look at the completion percentage every year. 71, 69, 65, 61.

The passer rating last four years, 121, 111, 91, 95. Like that, that is, there's no argument there. Cyan pepper water. is not turning that decline around. And they play Houston tomorrow. Who do you like in that one, Jay Mack? By the way, Jets are now two-point favorites in that. Money just pouring in on the Jets, obviously.

The 2-6 Jets, people freaking out. How are they favored over the 6-2 Texans? Take a look at that Texans roster right now. Skill position guys are beat up, but can the Jets stop Joe mixing on the ground? I'll take Texan. I think I'm going to go trick-or-treating with my kids overwatches garbage. The Jets are garbage. So let's be real.

I didn't say all that. No, you didn't, but my takeaway is if I get pulled over by a cop and I'm going 15 miles an hour over the speed limit. He can't go, you could have killed somebody, manslaughter charge. I didn't. Just give me a speeding ticket. But you can't charge people based on what could have happened. Terrible things could happen in life every 15 minutes, but they don't. And so my take on what

happened in the outfield is I could see saying, okay, you're not coming. The rest of this season, we're not letting you back in the stadium. That I can totally get. That's probably what I would do if I was the Yankees. I'd probably say like, hey, guys, we love you, but you're not coming in the stadium tonight. If, by the way, they could put on, easily put on mustaches, glasses, and get their way into a stadium. People have done that before. I mean, Bobby Valentine managed the Mets, and he did it as a manager. So it happens. But I don't think you can charge people based on what could or should have happened. It's just bad judgment. Guys have bad judgment when they're around other guys. You get them lubricated. You know, this is not ideal,

obviously. Kick him out for the night. But yeah, I think there's, I think you tow the line when these sports franchises ply people with alcohol, they get them closer to athletes. Uh, you want to keep leveraging the most money you can get as an organization so you can keep Juan Soto. So you're charging fans more and more and more. Those guys knew they were going to get kicked out. But they're prideful. I mean, they look at it. They went across the street to a bar. ESPN interviewed him. I wouldn't have. But ESPN didn't say. What do you guys think? Hey, we protect that wall. That's our wall. That's how guys. think like that's the herd mentality so I but I don't think you can say well he could have

broken somebody's wrist I mean there are people on the internet that's a salt yeah that's a that's not even a slippery slope that that that's not a salt Mookie Betts said it it happens I'm over it let's move on which is my take it stuff happens let's not overreact okay so I'm reading a story this morning um in 2023 the draft we already have two busts. Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson look like busts. One's too small and one's a great athlete,

but can't throw the ball accurately. So there's a reason this keeps happening. And it feels like we're getting some big bus here. Why? Number one is you can't win in this league without a star quarterback. Increasingly, the rules help offense and are more quarterback friendly.

So it's more of an offensive league than ever. It used to be if you came in with a great defense in a run game, you could get to a conference championship. you just need more. Otherwise, you know, Pittsburgh Steelers would be the favorite. You got to have a star quarterback, mostly in his prime. Number two is owners now are billionaires, not 100 millionaires, so they're more impatient than ever.

Number three is GMs and coaches to save their job and to placate, satiate, appease. The owner are taking more risks on guys who have one or two skills, but haven't really proven they can sit in the pocket, read a defense, and throw darts. And so, I mean, again, this whole sport, we fall in low with athleticism, and I like athleticism. But what I really like is sit in the pocket and be accurate. Let's go to the last 8, 9, 10 drafts. Look who the number one quarterback is at a last draft. So let's go out of this draft so far.

It's Jaden Daniels has been the best quarterback easily. He's on pace for the highest completion percentage, 72% of any rookie quarterback ever. Yes, he's an athlete. He's really accurate. Year before, C.J. Stroud. What did we notice immediately? Sits in the pocket and throw darts. Led the NFL and touchdown to interception ratio in his rookie season.

Doesn't throw a lot of picks. Throws a lot of touchdowns. Number 2022. Brock Purdy. Yes, he can move a little. Highest completion percentage by any quarterback in league history through 30 starts. Before that, Trevor Lawrence. prototypical pocket passer.

Yes, he can move. But even in the dysfunction, he's completing 65.5% of his throws, even in their dysfunction. Last three years, passer rating 92, completion percentage 65, and that's with dysfunction. The 2020 draft, Joe Burrow, highest completion percentage in NFL history. One of the only guys that can go toe to toe with Mahomes in big plays on third and fourth down. His specialty, yes, he can move. accuracy. Before that, Kyler Murray. Well, Colin, he moves, yes, but he also has the seventh highest completion percentage in league history. I've been on this for years. He throws the prettiest ball.

He and Jared Goff made through the prettiest ball in the league. Before that draft, it's Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Well, Lamar, believe it or not, has a 67% career completion percentage. He's always been better in the pocket than people think. And Josh Allen this year, 14 TD's one pick. He's cut down. He wasn't very accurate to start, but by year three, he was more accurate. Patrick Mahalms, 2017 draft. Highest pass rating in league history from the pocket.

His career high, 71 completion percentage from the pocket this season. So even though the offense is struggling, he's having his most accurate year throwing to like a second and third tier wide receiver. core. And before that, Jared Goff, this year's most accurate quarterback, and with protection, he's basically Matt Ryan with a better arm, highly efficient. So, you know, we look at all these busts. Go look at the last nine drafts. Now, some of these guys, like Lamar Jackson, are hyper-athletic. Lamar completes in his career, 67% of his throws. That's the game. We fall in love with athletic ability. Yes, Kyler Murray

can run. He throws a beautiful football. You know, when Lamar first came in stylistically, I didn't know if it was going to work. I looked at it and I thought, I don't know if it's going to work. But he was so athletic that it bought him a couple of years to get better in the pocket. But he was always

he had a quirky delivery. He was always pretty accurate. He was accurate to Mark Andrews and now they finally got him wide receivers like Zay Flowers and now he's really good from the pocket. So, you know, we, I think you're, you have to have a good quarterback. Owners are richer and more impatient. And then coaches and GMs, feeling that down pressure, that pressure on top of them, are taking bigger risks on guys who may have one skill.

But like Bryce Young, he's really small. Or Anthony Richardson, he's really raw and more of an athlete. You got to sit in the pocket and throw darts. That's it. You're not going to win Super Bowls. It would be hard to get to a conference championship. Joel Clatt next hour. Michael Lervino was fun in the show.

I think, yeah, don't let them come in tonight, but by and large...

I mean, they can come back next season. I don't want to see them in the World Series. Come on, man. You've gone to games. You've sat next to guys like this. I don't touch players, what I'm a fan in the stadium. I got grabbed mooky bets. Get the hell out of here, man.
