There's a lot of stuff going on. A John Jones fight tomorrow, UFC. We got Tyson and Jake Paul tonight. We had the Philadelphia Eagles, whatever that team is last night, beating Washington 26 to 18. Good weekend. How good have we been on Thursday night games? I feel like we nail them every week. Last week, Bengals was a lay-up.

Well, those standalone games take, generally speaking, take like the veteran quarterback, take the home team, take the better roster. Those teams look tired last night. Well, Seriani tried his best to lose the game. Yeah. So I want to talk about that. story is all talent and sketchy coaching. That's why

half to half, quarter to quarter, drive to drive, you don't know what Philadelphia's offense is. Against Dallas last week. Coming out of the gate against the terrible team, their first five drives, punt, touchdown, interception, punt fumble, and Dallas is terrible. Eventually,

they just out-talent people like last night. And you can do that. Look at their wins. Giants, Jags, Browns, a young Washington team. But when they're on script, coaching, game planning. They have two offensive touchdowns all year long in the first quarter. First quarter is generally a coaching quarter, especially when you have better players.

Look at their wins this year. I mean, look at them. Saints, Browns, Giants, Bengals, Jags, Cowboys. And again, commanders are a young team. They're thin. They're a little beat up. They didn't even target Terry McLorn once in the first half. The reality is they're a solid team.

They're probably commanders are the best average team in the league. They're the best average team. And that may get you in seventh seed, but this coaching is going to get exposed against the team like a Detroit, a Kansas City, a Baltimore, a Buffalo. You can't, like, you know, you can't just be a knockout artist in boxing. That was the early, you know, late Mike Tyson, right? We're going to see him fight tonight. You've got to have a jab. You've got to have conditioning.

You have to have a good corner man. They don't. They just have talent. I mean, even the Dodgers, easily the best talent in baseball. Easily, but against the Mets, the Padres, and the Yankees, they had to brilliantly, masterfully, from Dave Roberts, their manager, use their resources, sparingly and wisely strategy to beat teams. That they clearly had better talent then.

I mean, the Mets have like one great player. The Dodgers have like five. But they still, still, the best team does know is win. Kansas City gets down to the fourth quarter against the Niners, and they trail or against the Eagles, and they trail. And that's with Andy Reed and Mahon. Holmes. Coaching becomes crucial.

And I just don't get what they do in Philadelphia. It's all talent. It's dubious coaching. And talent, by the way, raises the floor, but coaching raises the ceiling. Okay? Talent, a lot of talent makes sure you're not terrible. But the coaching is what takes good to very good and very good to great. And I don't know, on script, this is the worst team full of good players in the league.

And by the way, Jalen Hertz, a good player. Last night he was off. He was out of rhythm. It happens. Thursday night games are tough. I totally get it, especially against divisional rivals. But everybody in the world had the Eagles plus, you know, minus three and a half. Philadelphia is going to win that game.

They got better players. I mean, how many guys for the Washington commanders even start for Philadelphia? Seriously, four, five. Here's Nick Siriani on another dubious, ugly win. this one on Thursday night. What we talked about at halftime was that, hey, this is going to be a grimy, gritty game, and just keep going because we know we're grimy and gritty. We know that team's grimy and gritty.

A lot of respect for them, but we just kept going, and that was the talk of halftime, like, hey, it's a street fight. And it's not about who's tougher, it's about who's tougher longer. And for the record, I understand Bengals Ravens. You get these Thursday night games. It's division rivals. that's what the league wants because they don't want teams getting on five-hour flights. So they want Baltimore to play a Cincinnati. They want Washington to play the Giants or Washington to play Philadelphia.

I get it. So these Thursday night games, teams now in week 10 and 11, they look tired on Thursday night. I thought both teams in the first half looked a little shot. You don't hit during this week of practice. It's walk-through. So some of this I understand. But I just, the talent disparity in this game was so substantial. and you're sitting there and you're watching and you're thinking,

you know, basically at the end, Philadelphia just kept leaning on him and Washington's very thin roster ran out of gas. It wasn't anything clever. A tush push here. A Sequin Barclay run there. I don't know. I just think eventually,

coaching takes good to great. That's Kansas City's roster is very good. It's not great. The coaching makes it great. I think Philadelphia is eventually going to meet a Detroit because Dan Campbell right now is doing a great job. job coaching. Ben Johnson, Dan Campbell. Feels like they have a great staff.

Philadelphia, quarter to quarter, half to half. I'm not sure what I get with that offense. Okay, so I am not precious when it comes to sports. Out of college, I got a job in Vegas. I love Daredevils. Robbie Knievel. I loved boxing. But I've never bought into the sanctity of boxing. Now, give me a break.

Do you hear yourself? It's a money grab. So tonight, Jake Paul takes on Mike Tyson. I'm in. Yesterday they had their stare down. Tyson and his camp saying Jake Paul stepped on his foot. Tyson slapped him. And boxing, once again, is just that carnival that comes to town and sets up in the mall parking lot.

Half the carnies are ex-cons. You're not sure any of the rides are safe. You're not sure you should be doing it. You're asking your friend, is this legal? But it's a blast. It's just a messy, dysfunctional, unhealthy blast. So Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, count me in. It's an elephant ear for dinner and a deep-fried funnel cake for dessert.

You may go home and feel sick to your stomach, but you only do it about once a year. That's how often you care about boxing. And perfectly placed at Jerry's World. I can hear the carnival barker. See the dangerous man in the world. Take on a YouTube sensation. Step right up. That's what this is.

but Mike Tyson is also the rare athlete that has mystique. He's a little wilt. Tiger when he went into the rough, Bo Jackson. Where does reality end? And the tall tale begin. With Tyson, I covered him in Vegas when I was 22 years old. There were a lot of stories I can't repeat. I wouldn't put in print.

I'm not sure I'd tell people over a, a cocktail at a lounge, that inappropriate. But he's endured, and that's kind of what America allows. Redemption, we're a little judgy, build you up, tear you down. For a generation of kids, Mike Tyson's just that guy from the hangover. Jake Paul is favored. He's much younger. He's much bigger.

A great reach advantage. And I think Mike Tyson knows that. I tend to take pro athletes against YouTube sensations when they meet. I'm not really sure. I'm going to watch because I don't get precious with sports and specifically boxing. There's all sorts of elegance in sports, like the masters. And there's all sorts of rules in sports we should follow. Baseball has those.

Boxing, it's the carnival that comes to town once a year and sets up in the parking lot at the mall. You'll eat stuff, do stuff, and question your judgment. But in the end, you look back. and go, God, that was great. I may have thrown up in the parking lot. Never go on that whirly thing after several cocktails, but it's a good time.

For a couple hours, it's a good time. And tonight, even the stair down, count me in. I'm having a deep fried funnel cake for dinner, baby. Count me in. J. Mack, will you be watching? That was an epic rant. Oh, that was good.

Oh, by the way, I want you to listen to this. This is what makes Tyson so mythical. A young lady, probably doing a school project, asked Mike Tyson about his legacy. Listen to his answer. I don't believe in the word legacy. I just think that's another word for ego. Legacy doesn't mean nothing.

That's just some word everybody grabbed on, too. Someone said that word, and everyone grabbed on the words, and now is used every five seconds. It means absolutely nothing to me. I'm just passing through. I'm going to die. and it's going to be over. Who cares about legacy after that?

It's terrifying. Well, he's smart. He's like a philosopher, right? No, hey, when I told my staff this morning, I covered Tyson out of college. I got a job in Las Vegas. I did sales. Not very good at it.

And there was a top-ranked gym. And I would go, then I became a sportscaster, I would go and watch Tyson with his camp. He was fascinating. He had, a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of some of boxing's history. And he had a different voice. He did not sound like he was the baddest man on the planet.

But I thought he was a fascinating guy. His life has been Jekyllabide up and down, inappropriate, king of the world. It's been everything. And he has a magnetic pull that a lot of great athletes in their prime don't. Again, to a young group of people, he is the guy from the hangover. There was a time, and I've seen, you know, I saw a lot of Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield. He bit his ear off.

Right? Like his, I've told the story years and years ago. I had a friend Aaron Gordon. And he fought Buster Douglas, Mike Tyson, did in Japan. He was a 42 to one favorite. And my friend Aaron Gordon and I didn't have a nickel to our names. And Aaron said, I'm going to bet Buster Douglas to beat Tyson at 42 to 1. And I talked him out of it.

I said, don't do that. We were at California Pizza Kitchen at the Mirage. The Mirage was a new, it was a new. new casino that had a big volcano. It was a big deal. The fire came out of it. Believe it or not, at one point, that was like the biggest deal in Vegas, right? The Caesar's Pool and the Mirage Volcano. And we're at the California Pizza Kitchen.

It is, I forget, Saturday afternoon. And I tell my friend Aaron going, do not bet it. You don't have that money. He had a girlfriend. I'm like, go take her to dinner. Let's have a piece of pizza. That night, we are both driving. A local rock and roll station in Vegas had put it on, bought the rights or whatever.

about the fourth round he calls me and he says do you hear what's happening I would have $4,200 he's held a grudge ever since it was perfect for Tyson's story he lost in Japan as a 42 to one favorite

and yet at one time for about a 7 to 10 year stretch I think I can't recall exactly he was the scariest guy on the planet and then he was hysterical in the hangover and then he was in jail. And now he's fighting at 61, a YouTube sensation. All of it is the Tyson story. That age gap is unbelievable.

When you see the tale of the tape we flashed, Jake Paul's, what, 27? Fighting a guy who's, what, 58 years? That's insane. Look at that. I mean, less than half his age. But you know what? I'll tell you this. Are you betting this, by the way?

I'm not going to get into that. So I just texted a boxing guy. We both know. Everybody likes Jake Paul. You just texted a boxing guy What do you say? We both know. I'm not going to respond.

I'll tell you during the commercial break. Well, you can't. The audience wants to know you're a host here. No, I can't do that. I don't want to influence any gambling bets from people. But I think this is must-see TV tonight. I mean, I'm playing pickleball, but then I'll come home for the fight. You know who's never played pickleball?

Mike Tyson. I don't know. I tend to take pro athletes. I always think Kobe's last game is a Laker. You know, you go to, you go watch a Dan Marino last game or something. They can still spin it. Like, remember, it's only two minute rounds, and there's only eight of them. Generally in boxing, it's three-minute rounds, you know, 10 rounds.

That's a whole different ball game. So I don't think it's going to go eight. I will say this about Jake Paul. I don't get precious. I think he has tried. He's committed. You know, he's beaten a lot of tomato cans. But in the end, you know, and Tyson's,

not in his prime. This would not be a real fight 22 years ago. So, the bottom line is a watch. I would not want to be hit with a Mike Tyson left. I think he has taken training fairly seriously. When I cover Tyson, there was always one thing that was fascinating. Many, but the one thing, before fights,

48 hours before fights, he got very mean. He got very focused. And I, A friend of mine, Mark Ratner, had to be sometimes into put, you know, to look at the gloves. And he always told the story. Mark is now with the UFC, wonderful guy. Mark told me the story a couple of times. He goes, I'm the last guy that gets to see Tyson.

And the glove, when I check the gloves, and he's like, you don't want to be in that room. Mike turns dark, as, by the way, many great fighters. I mean, I wouldn't have the courage to do that. So I've noticed this week, he's gotten surly. So that tells me he's taking it seriously. When Mike feels threatened, even at that stare down, he felt threatened, Mike lashes. But, Jack Paul absorbed it. He just absorbed the slap to the face.

Didn't bud. Jake Paul's a large human. I don't feel great for Tyson now. I'm rooting for him because we're both old guys, you know. Well, I don't think we're that old. It is amazing to me as the New York Giants struggle that their general manager, Joe Shane, paid Daniel Jones 160 million and then let Sequin Barclay walk to their rival. Can you imagine the Baltimore Ravens? allowing Lamar Jackson right now in his prime to go to the Steelers. That's what it's like. Or the Celtic saying, hey, Lakers, you can rebuild your franchise.

We'll give you Jason Tatum. Give us some draft picks. Seek Juan Barkley was 27. He was in his prime. This was not Joe Namath going to the L.A. Rams. He was in his prime. He wanted to be a New York giant for life. I have multiple quotes I'm staring at here.

And there's just certain things you can't do as an organization in the NFL if you're a general manager. You can't overpay, wildly overpay a bad quarterback. The Giants did it, and you can't let your best player go to your rival. Unpardonable sins. I could never, if I own the Eagles, if I own the New York Giants, I could never. I mean, the son, Joe Shane's son, remember that? He told him, draft Jayden Daniel's dad. You only get this job once.

Remember the HBO stuff? I mean, it's like, that's it. The kid knew. So as I watched Seekwon Barkley, the first thing I always think about is the New York Giants. overpaid for Daniel Jones now they're stuck there was just a great quarterback draft not interested now you go into a bad quarterback

draft and cross your fingers you get the one great player should do her Sanders so it's just you know people and I'm you know the dolphins did this a little bit with Wes Welker letting him go to the Patriots but Wes Welker became a star with Tom Brady he wasn't a superstar take one Barclay

was arguably the first or second back best back in the league after Christian McCaffrey and so you start looking at who the teams that are drafting at the top of the draft this year. We show that chart about once a week. We update you on the draft order. It's all self-inflicted wounds. The giants are all self-inflicted.

They did the two things you can't do. Paid an average quarterback, below-average quarterback, massive money, and then let Seque Juan Barclay go. I can't watch him and not think of the New York Giants. I literally, there's a quote here. He goes, I want to be a giant for life. I mentioned that I want to be in the likes of Tiki and Michael Strayan and Eli Manning. And you let him go to the Eagles.

That is Lamar Jackson. Baltimore's like, you know, we like him. He's very expensive, and he goes to the Steelers. I just, and he's a good guy. Sequin, and it was a weird game that the Eagles pulled away late with a couple of his runs here, Seyquan. Just knowing you know you're right there, you're so close, you're so close. And there's some games sometimes where you're so close,

you don't get the opportunity to, you know, bus open and break it through. The most important thing to do is one football games, and we put ourselves in position to do that. We've got to do a better job with executing all around. And when the plays are need to be made, we got to make those plays, and we have those guys to do that in this locker. By the way, when a great player tells you, I want to be on this team for life and is willing to say it publicly, believe him.

I mean, how in the world can you not afford your best player? It's like, to a lesser degree, the Jets firing Robert Sala. He's your best coach on the staff. The defense has gotten worse. The offense is worse. The Jets and the Giants are bad because of the Jets and the Giants. It's so poorly run, so many mistakes. I cannot watch Seekwon Barclay and not think to myself,

that's Lamar going to the Steelers. Different position, but same thing. He was the soul of the New York Giants. Let him go. J. Mack with the News. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the Herdline News.

I think Christian McCaffrey is the soul of the Niners, coward. He is back in action. from the Achilles injury. And speaking to reporters yesterday, McCaffrey talked about how social media has tried to diagnose his injury. I love this. I think one thing I learned about just the whole process

is you get a lot of Instagram doctors out there and get some guys diagnosing my injuries, PhD doctors. I'm watching a Sunday night game. Some doctors talking about my injury on the TV. I couldn't believe it. I never talked to him in my life. He's never seen imaging, talk to me,

diagnosed him. It's just kind of the world we live in now. So I tried to, you know, stay focused on my plan, what I trusted in, and go from there and try to limit all the outside noise because everybody's got an answer and they're all different. Love that. Come on. You got to love it. Internet. It's all full of epidemiologists and it's just like good, good hell.

Experts, you know. McCaffrey's right. Now, did he look back to speed? Of course not in the first game, right? Well, and two off the concussion, the first game, against Arizona. At the end of the game, he didn't, it didn't look great. Next week against Buffalo, you're like, it's better. Then against the Rams, you're like, oh, on third down was money.

Who's, I can remember Tom Brady, the one big injury had. You could go to the middle of the season he came back. He still didn't like people getting around his feet and his knees. He was still, he was still like a little gun shy around the interior of the pocket, Like a running back's going to come back week one and be great off an injury? He looked more comfortable as a pass catcher. Remember a nice one down the sideline. So I wouldn't be surprised if Shanahan tailors the offense a little more running with other guys

and then McCaffrey split out wide, matched up because he's going to destroy linebackers. And Seattle, I don't know how close are you paid attention. They just dumped their leading tackler. They're one of their linebackers. So they got a lot of flux. Big opportunity for McCaffrey. Any read on this game, Colin? Seahawks-Niners?

I don't. It's a stayaway game for me. I have Blaz and 5 and 35. minutes, a little bit of a stayaway game because I've said this about the Niners. They are one of those teams. Baltimore and the Niners can completely outplay you and lose. The Ravens outplay the Raiders and lose to the Raiders. I think it was in Baltimore. The Niners, if you looked at the box score against Tampa, it looked like it was 38 to 10. We nailed that game and they didn't get the cover. So I just, I find teams like the Niners and the Ravens really good TV products because they create unnecessary

drama. The Ravens are so bad on the back end, especially with Kyle Hamilton hurt, and the Niners special teams are such a circus. And I do think there's something, and I've noted this a couple of times, I'm not the only person to say it, but so many people in this league are running variations of Kyle Shanahan's offense. The element of surprise feels like it's not as lethal as it was four years ago is that people kind of, it's a bit more predictable. Yeah, and the divisional rematches this season have gone to the guy who lost the first one historically. So Niners got to be careful here. I think this number comes down a little bit, especially with D.K. Metcalf, it looks like he

may go, which would be a big get back. And Gino, with time to throw, can be very effective. 38 first downs against Detroit. He can be effective. He makes too many mistakes, but he's got a little James Winston where he can make the throws. You wish he'd make a, you know,

fewer mistakes, but Gino can play. Let's keep an eye on Bosa, because I don't know if he's going to go this week. Touch and go for him. Let's get to the next story the Dallas Cowboys. We know the season's over, right? Come on. Three and six,

Dak Prescott's out for the year. Mike McCarthy is in the final year of his deal, and with uncertainty surrounding his future, he's been telling the team and embrace the adversity. I think this is an incredible opportunity for this football team, what's in front of us, to be into this valley adversity. And I think to come out of this would be, you know, would be a great story.

And there's a ton of work. And the only work we're really focused on is really beating the use in Texans. But, man, this is a great. great opportunity for us. And I tell these guys, you know, repeatedly, you know, just, just enjoy this. This is something that you could really learn from for the rest of your lives. Any thoughts on that? I have what I think you'll like. Cowboys coming back from the adversity would be a great story. This is not Hoosiers. This team's not winning the state basketball championship. They don't have enough good players. You know what that sounds like?

What? He's auditioning for jobs this offseason. Good call. If you're an owner out there and you hear that. Oh, damn, Cowboys stink. Oh, embrace the Edwards. I like that. That's not a bad angle to take if you're McCarthy. I think he's talking to prospective employers out there in the market. Well, his agent is. Well, yeah, but I think he is with these words at the podium. Come on, Cowboys have no chance. I think Texans are slam dunk this week. But I do believe McCarthy's going to try. He's not going to want to end this way, right? And you go to tell potential owners, hey, man, I got, I had to deal with Jerry Jones. That's an uphill battle. Nobody wins there the last two decades. This isn't on me. I did have them 11 win three years in a row.

I think, do you think McCarthy could get a job after this as a head coach? Or they're just, really? Well, they've been fired from two marquee brands. So they're two very well-known firings where we've chronicled. Well, technically, Dallas hasn't fired. They may just not bring it back. Is that when we call that a firing or what? Yeah, I mean, I think what helps Mike McCarthy is Mike McCarthy can say, I dealt as Jerry Jones aged, he got more dysfunctional, and I kept winning 12 straight games. We don't have the roster. And I don't control the roster.

Jerry controls the roster. So sometimes having a meddling boss, the upside to it is if you're fired, you can say, who could win here, like you said. And by the way, he dealt with, I don't know if meddling's the right word for Aaron Rogers in Green Bay. I dealt with an ornery quarterback who wanted to pull all the strings. Look what he's done since we parted it. Since we parted ways, he hasn't, Rogers hasn't done anything. No, he never wanted.

A couple of MEPs, who cares? I'm the only guy that actually won big with Aaron Rogers. So McCarthy can build a case. Listen, I have to deal with Aaron Rogers and now this crap. No, I think it'll probably be, you'll sit out for a couple years. 61. Well, yeah, I know, but, I mean, Pete Carroll was vibrant at 70. I mean, he had great energy, so I don't know.

I think there's something out there. It's, I mean, I just saw a story about John Gruden. I thought he'd never work in the league, and now he's back in the media, and he's doing some stuff. him and he wants to coach again and people are talking about him coaching again and who knows what happens but you know three or four years people you know bottom line is there are years where there aren't many good coaches out there this go around there's two excellent coaches bill bellichick and mike rable are on the market and there's no great jobs available okay

rank these guys if they're all on the market rank these guys who bellichick vrable dan Lannning, Mike McCarthy. Belichick and Vrabel, if Bill Belichick wants personnel say, I would take Vrable. But Bill's got all the rings, but Bill's personnel stuff is, I'm really, go look at the last seven years of drafting by New

England. And the guy that, you know, so I, that's a different, it's like, listen, there's parts of Bill I love. 90% I love. The personnel stuff, he's not even mediocre at it. Like he reaches constantly. I don't want to put you on the spot, but I take Vrabel over McCarthy. Well, that was good. Like, I'm sorry.

What is Mike Vrable won that I'm not aware of? I think Vrable creates a culture. Okay. And I think McCarthy builds an offense. I think most teams that are bad in this league need more than an offense. Cliff Kingsbury built an offense in Arizona. He couldn't build a culture. Dan Campbell's doing both.

That's a good argument. So I think the great coach, Jim Harbaugh is not changing. the roster, same roster. He's changed the culture. So when you have bad teams, chargers were bad, lions were bad, the Houston Texans were bad. It's not just the playbook and the schemes, it's culture. And I think Vrable and Belichick have that ability.

I'm not sure Mike ever builds a great culture. I think he builds a good playbook. So how do we put Ben Johnson in the McCarthy discussion? I wouldn't hire Ben Johnson. We don't know if he can build it. I think he's quirky and I think he's a great coordinator and I don't think he's a culture builder. I think he's a quirky guy.

Nothing wrong with quirky, but I think quirky guy should be coordinators. Mostly. Final story is Chiefs Bill's. The news is not good for Buffalo, Colin. Keon Coleman ruled out earlier this week. Now, Dalton Kincaid is out. We know tight ends have given the KC linebackers fits.

Amari Cooper is questionable after being out the last two weeks. But Cooper is optimistic about playing, saying he's feeling better and more comfortable, adding that he would play in a cast. I've been looking. It doesn't look like this is going to be a big weather game in Buffalo. It'll be cold. Cold.

But that's not a huge deal in this. No wind or precipitation. The Harrison Butker news, he's out. He's a shocker. He's on IR. I mean, that guy's been automatic. 18 of 20 on field goals this year. Inside 50, he hasn't missed.

As UCLA squares off against Washington, the action kicks off under the lights tonight. At 9 p.m. Eastern on Fox. Low-scoring game. Both you and I think Bruins Huskies is low-scoring. Both in a rebuild. So there's, listen to this.

According to Adam Schaefter, in Chicago, there were conversations, said Schaefter. I don't know how close they got, but yes, there were conversations about whether one of the solutions was to bench Caleb Williams. but to bench him to give him a break and try and save him. So, oh, brother. So two times this week on our show, two credible guests, one that's played in the NFL for 18 years, and Greg Cocell, 45 years of watching film. They're not fanboys, they're not on bare message boards,

they watch film. And let's start with Greg Cocell. This is about as harsh as Greg Cocell gets on criticizing a young corporal. back. In two years at USC, he got sacked over 80 times, and there were a lot of people that were concerned that that was not just an O-line issue at USC, that that was a Caleb Williams issue. And right now, it's coming to fruition a bit in the league.

So this was not a Shane Waldron problem at all. Right now, everything is happening too fast for Williams. He's not been able to slow down the game mentally, so he gets stuck in the pocket waiting and you can't do that. At this point, he too often lacks an effective internal pocket clock, which also forces him to stay in the pocket too long holding the ball. And the last point is he's a slow recognizer and processor. He's not making the needed connection between route concepts and coverage.

So all this leads to an increased number of sacks. This was very much Zach Wilson and very much Justin Fields. You heard the exact same things, a bit harsher now. but Matt Hasselbeck came on before Greg CoSell earlier this week and didn't buy into it's all the coaches problems. I would say 90% of it is on the quarterback. Like if I'm coaching the quarterback and there were what nine sacks yesterday, I'm putting at least six of those on the quarterback. And just like with Russell Wilson, like we're sitting here talking about the deep ball to Mike Williams,

he knows like that's a blitz situation. Like Caleb, he's a young quarterback. So I'm not trying to throw stones at him because of the mistakes. I'm not surprised by the mistakes. I think just expectations are going to be higher because you do have guys like Jaden Daniels playing such good football. Bo Nix is playing good football. Drake May is even playing good football. And so I think the boo birds are going to be out with Caleb.

And so add to that that this franchise has no real history of being able to figure out the most difficult position to play in all of pro sports, NFL quarterback. So I go back to something. And I'm going to say this, and in the rearview mirror, you'll be like, oh, Colin, you didn't believe this. But I said this multiple times. In fact, this coach reached out to me to thank me years ago for the support. So I question whether the Bears know what good coaching is. Matt Nagy, think about this. You all call Mike McDaniels in Miami a genius.

And with Tua, who's made Pro Bowls, his records 23 and 20. two playoff appearances O and 2. He's a genius. That's with Tua, Tyreek Hill, Jaden Waddle, warm weather, quarterback-friendly. Matt Nagy was 34 and 31 in a tough division for quarterbacks.

He had Mitch Trubisky going against Kirk Cousins in his prime in division, Aaron Rogers in his prime in division, and Matt Stafford in his prime in division. 34-31 made the playoffs twice. Why is Mike McDaniels with a better quarterback, Tua, better than Matt Nagy, who had the same record with a quarterback who's closer to Desmond Ritter than Patrick Mahomes?

That's why for years I kept saying, you're getting Mitch Tribusky to the playoffs. What are you people complaining about? Did you watch them on the Steelers? Are you guys paying any attention? So I question whether this organization gets it. Well, Colin, Matt Nagy, he wasn't Mark Trussman. winning record. Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rogers, Matt Stafford.

Well, our defense, I don't want to hear about the defense. Nagy's the offensive guy. Tribisky, to the playoffs twice in that division. I mean, Mike McDaniel, same record with Tua. Can't win the playoff game. He's not winning the division. Right? So I thought Matt Nagy, there was something there.

but they, you know, they bum rushed him out of town. A lot of Andy Reid, by the way, Andy Reid hired him back. You know, the minute he could, Andy Reid's like, no, I'll take Matt Nagy back. So just saying, I question so much about the Bears, and one of them is I thought they had a pretty good coach. I'm not saying Matt Nagy's top eight, but I thought he was pretty good. I mean, you all want to bumrush Mike McCarthy out. He won 12, 12 and 12 with that Prescott. I mean, he's obviously a B to a B plus coach.

So I, yeah, this thing is, there's a lot of issues. It may be Caleb, but I just have so little trust in the organization to get it right. You know, I'm sorry, but I think if Matt Nagy was there, and I know it's over. It's not going to happen. But I just, they could have had Jim Harbaugh. They could have had Cliff Kingsbury. I don't think they can identify good coaches. I mean, honestly, if it's a coaching search and there's seven jobs opening this year,

would it surprise you if the Bears hired the seventh best option? I don't think they can identify a good coach. They keep running through them. I mean, I'm not sure they can get that right. We know, I mean, there are certain organizations. The Philadelphia Eagles have missed on some coaches, but they've hit on them too. I mean, the L.A. Ram Stan Cronkies hit on some coaches. I mean, some organizations, Jed York has had some hits and misses.

He had Harbaed Shanahan. Yeah, yeah, there was that one guy that wasn't very good. Yeah, we won't get into that. Like, everybody misses. I get it. It's not perfect. But I just think if there's seven openings in the league and the bears are not going to be, I mean, people are looking at this weather, this division now with Kevin O'Connell,

Jordan Love, you start looking around at Detroit. Like, this job for Chicago is not going to be one of the coveted ones. J. Mack, you and I talk about this all the time, is that the reason the charges would not have been coveted with an average quarterback, Justin Herbert. made that a great job. And Roshan Slater and Bosa, like they had a pass rush, a left tackle, and a quarterback. The Chargers was a well above average job.

And the Spanos family doesn't meddle. They had a reputation for years. They were a bit cheap, but they're not big meddlers. And so remember, people that are good in any business, lawyers, landscapers, if you're good at your job, you have options. People will bid for you. You tell me, if Mike Frable was offered this job, would he want it? I'm asking the question.

Would he want it? Because if he goes 34 and 30 in that division with Caleb Williams, they'll run him out of town. So there's something also behind the scenes. And I don't know how much credibility I should give this. Yes, it did pop up on some Reddit boards, but it's gotten a lot of traction with radio people in Chicago. Okay. So you remember the guy Tyson, Baygent, Badgett, however you say, his last night. Yes, I've heard these stories.

Okay. So last year there was a little weirdness with, oh, you started. started to hear people in the media say, oh, we should get rid of fields, put him on the bench and get Bayesian in there. So now people are saying that a lot of the Baygent rumors are coming from his family who are working on media people in Chicago, planting these scenes. Hey, look at these numbers. Should we go to the backup? And the backup is his kit. So I don't know how much credibility to give it. Some of it is Reddit message board stuff. You know, this can be wacky. But Chicago media people are starting to give it credibility. And if you've got that kind of division where DJ Moore's got beef with the quarterback,

and the offensive linemen aren't picking up Caleb and then the backup's parents are supposedly maybe getting a lot of weirdness. You need a, that's a program that needs a real culture setter. Yes. You need Vrabel or you need Belichick. Listen, they have the poorest owners arguably in the league.

We don't know if the president knows what he's doing. He ran the Big Ten, but we don't know. They have a general manager who's young. He's had some misses. He had Ryan Poles has had some hits. The coach isn't working. But Ben Johnson is not going to work in Chicago. I know they're like, oh, no, no.

He won't. Just stop. No, no. Look at a culture builder who's going to bring in a philosophy like Jim Harbaugh, be like, this is who we are. They had Kingsbury. Passed on him. They had Harbaugh.

I thought you said Kingsbury didn't want to. I'm just saying. I question their ability to interview football coaches and hire the right coach. Who's that on the GM? You got polls? It's on the president and the GM. That's my question. Kingsbury was out there.

Nah, he's doing pretty well. Hardball's doing pretty well. I think you kind of got to look at a guy like Brable or Belichick. Remember, cold weather, a lot of outdoor games. You need to build the trenches, and they went out and got all these skill position guys. I need some. They need some alpha. They need a culture builder.
