Here we go on a Monday. We are officially past the halfway point in the NFL live in Los Angeles. It's the herd wherever you may be, however you may be listening. One hour from now where Colin was right, where Colin was wrong.

Thank you for joining us on Veterans Day today. You know, you can tell there are certain things. things J-Mac that separate the haves in this league from the have-nots. Often it's a great coach, which they don't have in Chicago. Often it's a great quarterback. But I thought yesterday very symbolic of a real separation you can tell yesterday was the ultimate sign for all you fans out there. Are we a half or we a have-nought?

And so we'll start the show with that. three teams. San Francisco did not play well, yet one on the road. Detroit didn't play well at all, yet on the road beat a pretty good team. Kansas City at home did not play well, and yet one. Niners, Lions, Chiefs, did not play well and survived. And that is the difference. Chicago played poorly at home, blown out. Dallas played poorly at home. Blown out, not competitive. Jets on the road.

You don't have to ask. You don't have to argue. The good teams in this league, the special ones, can go on the road, play their worst game of the year by far. Let's talk about Detroit. Jared Goff has five picks. This is a team built around their offensive line and run game. They got pushed all over the field.

It felt like a Super Bowl for Houston. Even though they were missioning their best rush hand, they got massive energy. tons of juice. Gough off his game. Gough was behind receivers. Nothing worked in the first half. Even early in the third quarter, Detroit gets a pick.

They give the ball right back. Their dominant offensive line, first half, getting pushed around the field. They could not play worse. And yet their last three possessions, enough playmakers, Gough settles down, touchdown, field goal, field goal, and they win. They are good on third down. They have

playmakers. you know, total yards. They had far more total yards. They get to Amaran St. Brown. They're running backs. They're tied in. They just figured out away, put on the life preserver, stay afloat, get down the field, kick field goals. Let's get out of here.

This was a team Detroit that had played at such a high level for two months. A stinker was coming. Against a good team. On the road. Sunday night football. standalone game and they won. Go look at Kansas City short week off an overtime game.

They look fatigued. Big favorite at home. Trailed going into the fourth quarter. Here were the Kansas City Chiefs. Did not play very well. Bo Nix was super comfortable. Forget the last drive on third down.

Sean Payton felt like he caught Kansas City a tired team flat-footed. They couldn't run the ball, could the Chiefs? Their leading receipts. Their leading receiver was Kareem Hunt. Nothing went right. You know, those day games, when the crowd's not quite as lubricated, it's not as loud in Arrowhead, and here's Kansas City.

Off their game, short week, little banged up. The Chief scored one touchdown in four Red Zone trips. It didn't play well. They weren't very efficient. Wide receivers couldn't cut loose. Yet, yet, when they go to block a field goal, It was crazy. It was like they had 13, 15 guys on the field.

Everybody burst through. It was the classic what they call the jail break. Like, everybody got through. The Denver Bronco offensive line just got blown away. So here's the best big moment team in the league. They're great third down. They're great and big moments. It's goal line stands.

And that is what the really special teams do. I've been saying this about Detroit and Kansas City now for weeks. It feels inevitable. But yesterday was different. Neither one of them, one played late Sunday night in Houston, a stinker. Kansas City plays at home, day game. Here comes rookie Bow Nicks driving down the field. A lot of time.

Receivers open. Everything's clicking for a team Denver that's probably about a year away. And that's the separator. Niners, Chiefs, Lions. They didn't play well, couple on the road, and they pick up doubles. and Dan Campbell knew what he went through. That is the definition of resiliency. You guys just kept banging away, right?

We did whatever we had to do, and we just bought our time. This is what great teams do. Even when you're having an off day, you find a way, man. You freaking find a way and you wheel it to happen. That's what you did today. Yep, that's what Kansas City's been doing it feels like now.

For about three years. They let Tyreek Hill go. They're not as dynamic offensive. defensively. They drafts Xavier worthy. He, you know, he's not going to be a high volume guy. That's why they go get D-Hop. That's why they keep Juju Smith-Schuster comes back. He's a bit of a gadget guy. He may end up making the play of the game in the Super Bowl, the AFC championship. You're not going to rely on him as a big part of the offense. They don't have their top running back. They're just, Kareem Hunt leads and receiving. And it feels like Kansas City's been doing this for three years. Detroit, finally. I don't think Detroit wins this game two years ago playing like that. I don't think Detroit wins that game last year on the road against the Houston level team playing like that. The ultimate sign that Detroit has arrived. The ultimate sign, you can stink up the joint and beat C.J. Stroud and the Texans in Houston Sunday night. This is the best, honestly, I've ever felt about Detroit.

A stinker. Jared Goss not throwing five picks again. Forget the rest of the season and the rest of his career. I watch Detroit and I'm like, that's a great team. Anybody can roll over the cowboys. Anybody can beat the Jets. Anybody can make the Titans look incompetent. To win that game for Detroit, good for you.

You've arrived. Now here's a team that may never arrive. I mean, they've arrived at a really low level. The Chicago Bears. So I'm looking at the stats this morning through the first nine games, the last two years. All those offensive pieces. New quarterback, Keenan Allen. same team awful back they're worse and you can really see in the NFL we all think there's a big gap

between like the best quarterbacks and the worst quarterbacks it's the same in ownership it's the same in coaching i mean jim harball the bears can't even hire right they could have had jim harball they passed on that could have had cliff kingsbury and i passed on that they can't even hire right look what look what harbaugh's done to the packers or to the chargers defense worst in the league to first, same guys. This is a poorly coached team. There is such a gap in competency in this league. I mean, now

Caleb Williams, I knew he would go through some rookie struggles. You did? Everybody did. They're rookies. It usually doesn't look like Jaden Daniels. We all knew he would struggle a little. He's a rookie. We all knew coming out of college. He could be a little bit too, you know, playmaker.

He could be a little hit and miss on his accuracy. You knew that. I knew that. Those were the scouting reports. but now he has become the most sack quarterback in the league. With his mobility? The most mobile guy arguably in the league outside of Lamar Jackson at quarterback. He's the most sat guy in the league. It's the only team where the opponent has scored first in every game.

I don't know what their identity is. I mean, I can't. They're so bad on third down. One for 14 on third down against New England. One of the weaker rosters, a team that could probably draft them in the top three. You'd think they could scheme some lay. They could scheme some completions. That's what Sean Payton's doing for Bo Nex.

He's scheming easy catches. Six or seven, eight completions a game. Just scheming some layups. Jaden Daniels' first couple of weeks, they're scheming some layups, make him get confident. Chicago can't do that. They can't scheme layups. They won for 14 on third down. And when they try to get clever, they handed to a backup center with the goal line.

Even their attempts at creativity are awful. There's just this, there's this huge gap in the league between the best GMs, Howie Roseman, or Brett Veach, and the worst. It is a mile wide. It's just not quarterbacks. I mean, the NFL's not calculus. It's not even algebra. But it is addition and subtraction. You got to be able to scheme up some easy completions for a quarterback, some layups.

Everybody does this. I mean, Denver's doing it every week. You know, or if a guy comes off the bench in the middle of a game, you scheme open. You've got a couple of set plays, a couple of easy layups, get the confidence of the quarterback up. They can't even do that right. I mean, I'm watching New England yesterday. Rookie coach. We don't know if he's any good.

Rookie quarterback. We don't know if he's any good. I'm watching him grow. And Drake May today, Drake May a month ago? You feel totally different if you live in Boston about Drake May this morning than I'm, month ago. I'm like, he didn't have anything to throw to. He's kind of good. He's starting to look like the comps. The comps were like Justin Herbert, but not as polished out of college. That's what they said about Drake May. Got some Justin Herbert in him. He's not ready to play like Herbert was.

And all of a sudden yesterday, I'm like, last two weeks, I'm like, oh, I see it. He's getting better. Bo Nicks today from a month and a half ago. Oh, you see it. I see it. Everybody sees it. He's getting better. Jaden Daniels may have lost. He's better than he was in the opener. Caleb Williams going backwards. When you have talented players, they're young, and they're getting worse, that's a coaching thing. Don't blame the kid. And I'm not saying Caleb's perfect. But, I mean, I watched Bryce Young yesterday.

Bryce Young has a new coach. Last two weeks, I've watched Bryce Young. He's getting better. He's getting more comfortable. That tells me that coaching is competent. Caleb's had three straight games now where he is completing under 54%. Folks, this is a team that can't scheme layout. You got to give the kid six, seven, maybe eight, nine.

Give him easy ones. And then ask him to make 12 tough NFL throws. They can't do that. And Caleb did what leaders do after the loss. He defended the coach. Am I confident in my head coach? Yes, I'm confident in my head coach. You know, they brought me here for a reason.

They brought all of us here for a reason. As players, when we're in the locker room, we know how good we are. We know how good we can be. right now we're not executing we're not hitting on cylinders. I mean, hands in the air. And this is a front office in Chicago that said, hey, last week this leaked out. Eber Fluse is safe now and next year.

And for the record, I'm not a guy that likes to get coaches fired. I defended Matt Nagy the entire time he was in Chicago. He got Mitch Tripisky to the playoffs twice. And that was with Aaron Rogers and Matt Stafford in his division in their prime and naggy got twice Mitch travisky not nearly as talented as Caleb Williams got him into the playoffs twice and the NFC was better then than now and so at some point you got to be honest about this thing if you can't scheme six or seven easy completions they don't even use his mobility I mean Caleb may not be great I don't know how it turns out but it's not this this is not

what it should look like J Mac calling right Colin wrong top of next hour. There's so much to talk about today. I got to be honest. It's kind of funny what happens. People like cool. Aaron Rogers is cool, and everybody's trying to hold on to his greatness.

Russell Wilson's scene is not as cool. He's actually playing great. So isn't it funny? People are trying to convince me cool Aaron is still good. He's washed. People are out on Russell Wilson. The minute that hack it year, Russell's actually gone back

to a slightly less version of the Seattle Russ. He moves. He's great in the deep ball. He doesn't make any turnovers. I'm not saying they're the Seahawks, but that Pittsburgh has become Seattle. The defensive coach, tough at home, physical, great pass rush, over-the-top offense, consistent run game. I'm not saying they're that team,

but Pittsburgh didn't bring him in to be a savior. They brought him in to be 90, 85% of the old Russ that's what I'm watching. Three game sample size. He's done well. Pretty frustrating as a Jets fan to see Mike Williams, who could do nothing with the Jets, plays nine snaps and catches a game-winning touchdown.

Literally, first target as a Steeler. And it's like that's all he can do. Run straight line. Go route. Russ, perfect ball. It's funny. Aaron Rogers could not hit him with a perfect go ball. Interesting how that works out.

All right. We got a lot of stuff to talk about. I was wrong in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Right. I'd be honest with you. I was wrong on Pittsburgh. I thought Ross was done. Both are, you know, this is interesting team.

How good is Pittsburgh? Let's just ask the question. How good are they? They're good. The question is, how good are they? We're going to talk about that next. So I'll be completely honest. I pat myself in the back when I'm right. I thought the Steelers, I didn't know if this was Tomlin's last year. I didn't get it. I thought the organization was tone deaf to offense. I mean, they brought Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, and I watched Sean Payton get rid of Russell Wilson, and I'm like, yeah, I think it's kind of over.

And Justin Fields, good kid, that didn't work. And I've got to tell you, let's be honest about Russell Wilson. His 10 years in Seattle with Pete Carroll, his one year with Sean Payton, and it's one year with Mike Tomlin. You know what you get? Mobility, a winner, 64% percent, completion percentage, 100-passer rating, a very optimistic guy who loves football. He may not be for everybody, but the deep ball is back in Pittsburgh.

Bradshaw had it, Big Ben had it, and Russell had it. He's always had it. Just say it out loud about the Steelers. Just say it out loud. Strong defensive coach. Good at home. Tough. Run game.

Mobile quarterback that really, really is exceptional in the deep ball. That's Seattle. East. Now, I don't think they're as good as Seattle, but I'm watching it, and I'm from the Pacific Northwest. This is kind of, you know, like Russell Wilson and Sean Payton, their personalities were never going to work. Sean is curt and abrupt. And, you know, I mean, it is Russell tends to be almost endlessly, hopelessly optimistic. It's not a bad quality. It's not for everybody. But when I watch them, I'm wrong on this. This is a good team. What's funny is, both Aaron Rogers and Russell Wilson were brought into a defensive culture with a defensive head coach

and they were asked to sort of galvanize everybody. Put your arms around the young guys. One has miserably failed in New York and one is absolutely delivering in Pittsburgh. One has demands. One is just delivering. One said Mike Williams, I cannot work with you. The other said Mike, come here. Let's go for the game winning touchdown.

You can love one of them who's cool, but I'm telling you, if you go to Russell Wilson's career, 10 years with Pete, the one year, take the Hackett, you're out. The one year was Sean. Go back and look at those numbers. And with Mike Tomlin, right? Sean Payton did not look at him as a savior. Nat Hackett needed him because he's not a head coach to be a savior. That's not what Russell is now. He's an adult. He's efficient. He's got better than average. mobility, he throws an incredible deep ball. I just like the way that Mike Williams, who's a good guy, I don't know Mike, but I know people that do good guy gets hurt, but a good guy. New York shoved him out and guess what?

You know who worked with Mike Williams? Justin Herbert liked him. Justin Herbert didn't want the chargers to move off him. Justin Herbert liked him. Russell likes him. The guy in New York didn't. Maybe it's the guy in New York. But I love that Mike Williams made the play.

And Mike Tomlin's sitting there because, let's be honest. When Russell got hurt and Justin Fields came in, this whole thing was bumpy. I don't even think Mike Tomlin knew exactly what it was going to look like. And somebody asked him if he likes what Russell to Mike Williams looks like. How many times have you seen Russell Wilson throw like that over the years? I've seen it a few times on highlight shows. It's a little better in person, believe it. Yeah, Tomlin has been in a good mood for three weeks because I think Mike Tomlin knows what he has here.

I was wrong. I thought this, I just didn't think. this staff could get offense right. I've been watching it at the end of Big Ben's career. I'm like, they just don't know offense. They just can't get it right. And you know what? Maybe it's Russell Wilson, but I'm watching Russell and Pickens now of a real relationship.

I've always been saying this for three years. I love Pittsburgh roster. I said this last year. I think it's a top five roster. Where are they not good? Running backs. I mean, you keep telling me the old line's no good. They keep drafting it.

Like, where are they not good? I think Mike Williams was a great piece. He's just another big reds, own target. I didn't think in game one, he would be that significant. But it's, and I, Russell's got energy. It's authentic. He's fired up.

You know, listen, sometimes when you feel like you were cast off and blame for stuff, Jared Goff and Detroit felt like he was blamed for the Rams issues, not like they had real issues, but issues. Jared Goff uses that as jet fuel. Russell's always been, you know, very aspirational. But, you know, come on, Denver, it's like, hey, Russ is the problem. If you go back to that year where Sean Payton, Russ wasn't the problem. Russ was fine.

The defense stunk. This year, Denver's defense is better. But it is amazing for pro athletes. When you get blamed for stuff and you still have something left in the tank, how you can rally yourself. I mean, Goff had a bad Sunday. Goff's been unbelievable for two years. He and Mahomes have had the best numbers for two years. And I don't know.

I'm watching Russell. And I'm like, yeah, I didn't think I'd see this again. That's a real good team. We all got to be on, is it a three or four win team that hoist a trophy? I don't think so. But can that team win multiple playoff games? Run game, defense, coach, Russell, over the top. I'm telling you, it gets real squishy in the AFC in the middle.

You may like Baltimore, Buffalo, in Kansas City at the top. Those middle teams, Chargers, Houston, Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh can beat all those teams. Absolutely. especially at home if they keep winning. J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.

This is the herd line news. I like what I saw. Overreaction. Overreaction. Let's get started here with the Chargers. They've won four or five, Colin. They are one of the hotter teams in the league. Justin Herbert.

Unbelievable performance. Two touchdown passes. 123 passer rating. By the way, this was such a blowout. I saw Justin Herbert was five for five passing in the second half. That's it. I was just going to run the ball down your throat. You can't stop us.

Harbaugh was loving the effort from his QB and gave him a new nickname. I'm changing his name to Beast. He's Beast Herbert. Half Man, Half Beast. He made the two biggest plays of the game. The fourth down, touchdown run that he made. There was a lot of unblocked guys. And he just went Beast mode and got that ball in the end zone.

You know, I think all of us, that love football, you, me, and the audience, we've known Herbert's really good. And we just kept saying, can we get him a grown-up coach? Can we get him the right coach? He doesn't even have to have a great roster. Just get him the coach.

And you're watching what happens. He has 11 touchdowns one pick. Like Herbert is, this is a 4-2 major in college that became a biology tutor. Big, strong, mobile, decent, smart. Like, it's the Andrew Luck thing. Just get him the right coach. Get him some protection.

You eventually knew Andrew Luck got to an AFC championship. Help him a little. It's really fun to watch this team because they're not always pretty. You know, they're not dazzling. They're a little like, they look a little like Kansas City. A little boring. Well, it's like Kansas City. You wish they had a star number one receiver.

I feel like they've got, I mean, Quentin Johnston is not a bust now. He's emerging. He's emerging. Ladd McCong, he's a two. Palmer's solid. I feel with the Chiefs and the Chargers, I wish they had a go-to star receiver. They don't, but you can win a lot of games being a great coach, a great quarterback, a great defense,

and situationally good on offense, and that's what the Chargers were. Herbert's been tremendous. I don't want to pour cold water, but, you know, we play both sides here. We need to let the audience know what's up. The Chargers have played one of the worst schedules in the league. Yes. They've played nobody. These are the next four teams they face, okay?

They start out with Joe Burrow this week, Colin. This will be the toughest quarterback this defense's face. And the Chargers defense, by the way, has not allowed more than 20 points in a game this season. Pretty great start, right? Yeah. And then they have a little Lamar Jackson. As you can see, the schedule here. It gets tough.

And then Matt Ryan, winnable, Patrick Mahomes. The next four games, we'll find out if the Chargers are for real. But Burrow Lamar back-to-back, Colin, that is going to be a challenging search. But here's what's amazing. And I talked about this to start the show. The level, the gap in competency in the league. this defense was the worst in the league easily last year. Same players.

Remember their first two picks were offense. Same players. It is now the best defense in the league. Brandon Staley doesn't know defense. Obviously, it's not Matt Ryan in the Falcons. Kirk Cousins, I don't know why I say, Matt Ryan. But seriously, like Chargers 6 and 3 look like they could be headed to the playoffs.

Let's just pump the brakes until the next few games. I still contend what if there's a team in the league that Chargers are playing like, I think it's the Chiefs. Yeah. We love the coach, the quarterback, the pass rush, young defensive players. We wonder, can they be more consistent on the perimeter offensively? Yeah. I mean, the coordinator, Jesse Minter, the coordinator?

Is he after Spags? This Jesse Minter guy. It's interesting you bring him up. So I saw that they had seven sacks yesterday. So I instantly look, oh, Bosa and Mac must have gone crazy. They played 22 snaps total. They started two rookies at cornerback. I'm like, how did they...

Maybe this is about Will Levis being awful, because he was certainly worse than Mason Rudolph, but... Let me just say this. Great coaches choose great staffs. The best staff in the league now is arguably Kansas City. I'm going to make an argument. This Jesse Minter, the second best staff in the league, the Chargers are on a short list.

I mean, we've seen this for years with McVeigh. I mean, they're defensive coordinators. Whether you like Brand Staley or not, he was a good assistant. Yeah. So don't forget, great average coaches, choose average staff. The most impressive thing about the Chargers, Colin, is that they have a philosophy. We know what they are. Oh, you know exactly what they are.

And Harbaugh's been there for what? Eight months? My New York Jets, last 20 years, what's their organizational philosophy? They don't have one. There's nothing. Harbaughan is still one that quickly? It's just disappointing. I talked to Dean Spanos about this, and I said, you know, I said Jim is, he's different.

He's got a different personality. and he said, we needed different. He's like, we needed different. We needed a man to come in and give us an identity, and he felt within six weeks, the building felt different. Have you ever watched the post game with Harbaugh, giving out game balls to everybody, it's a riot.

Did you see the high five thing in the locker? He's like, all right, let's pause. Everybody do high fives. It's just like the whole team. This is cool. This is fun. They're impossible not to root for. It's very old.

I'll tell you this. Jim Harbaugh is on a show. short list to be that dominant in college and pro football. A lot of these NFL guys, the Parcells, you know, Jimmy Johnson, college and pro was great. Pete Carroll did very well at both. A lot of these coaches are like pro coaches or college coaches. Harbaugh's on a short list of one of the great football minds that we've ever had in the sport.

For him to be able to go to Stanford, they were the worst team in the league. For him to go to Michigan, they were a disaster. The Chargers were pathetic. They had a mutiny. They had a team mutiny. Yeah, they quit on Brandon Sailing. Last thought, Colin, maybe too hot for the first hour here, but if I'm a playoff team, the Chargers scare me more than the Pittsburgh Steelers right now.

I know you like the Steelers and you're bullish. Herbert's. Yeah, Herbert's a different. Listen, Russell Wilson, eventually people are going to go back to the too high safety look that he can not solve. All right. Anyways, moving on to the Arizona Cardinals. Whoa. They've won four straight.

I know you're bullish on your guy, Kyler Marie. I love their offensive pieces. Kyler set a record yesterday in the franchise, 17 straight completions, cooking the jet secondary. He took a brutal hit from Quincy Williams, lost his helmet. I thought Kyla Murray might have been dead for a second. It was a vicious hit. Popped up, no big deal.

Jonathan Gannon, coach, sang his praises after the game. I think the quarterback was the best player on the planet today. And so, kudos to him. When he has the ball in his hands, you know, as a defensive guy, anytime he gets to snap, you're hanging on to your, you know what, you know, and I thought he was lights out today. He was. I know you guys, a bunch of haters on this show that I'm always pushing back on all you Kyler haters. But how about McBride?

How about McBride the tight end? He's awesome. Oh, my God. Harrison. They got another receiver I like. Connor. Kyler. He is such.

He does remind me, you get a little Russell Wilson about seven years. ago. Yeah. I mean, it's just, they have drafted well on offense. They got dudes in every unit. They have elite players offensively. You know, I don't like the MVP discussion until we turn the calendar December. It doesn't matter.

It's Lamar won. Fifth Best odds to an MVP. I think Lamar won Kyler 2. Stop it. Kyler Murray second? Tell Lamar. Who you got? I think he's number two in the race.

How has he been better than Josh Allen? Kyler has way better weapons of Josh Allen. Josh Allen's just carrying the bills on his back. No, no Cooper, no Coleman, no big deal. We'll just smash the Colts who's stink. You can argue, Kyler Murray's carrying the franchise. Also, Jared Gough? I know five interceptions last night.

Oh, no, he's the worst quarterback. Forget the MVP. Yeah, they still won the game. MVP fifth best odds? I think he's, I think he's... By the way, are the Cardinals winning that division? Can we call it the schedule real quick? I don't know, Colin.

Seattle? At Seattle this week. It's probably the hell. They are a more consistent team than San Francisco. That is indisputable. They are more... San Francisco's had everybody hurt. Hold on.

At Seattle, at the Vikings. I think they're going to be small underdogs in both those. Okay, but Minnesota right now is regression is clear. Seattle's got complete limitations. Wait a minute. They're coming off the buy. They're going to get healthy. Defensive.

And then it's Patriots Panthers. Those are two wins. But they end with Rams Niners. I will bet you whatever you want that Arizona wins double-digit games. It may only be 10, not 11. and they're winning more than half those games. I see a lot of Ws. I think they're better than the Niners right.

I don't think there's any question. They're better than Niners. They just beat them a month ago in Santa Clara. That was a fluky game that the Niners outplayed the heck out of them, and they won because of total nonsense. It was just, you really are... Oh, I think... Wait, double digit wins.

I'll go to you. I think they'll win. Well, what are they at now? Six? Yeah. Well, they're going to beat the Panthers and the Patriots, so that gets them to eight. Eight.

So then they have to steal one from Seattle. They're not beating the Rams or Niners. You don't have to steal one from Seattle? You don't have to steal one. You can just get on a plane, go up there, win, and come back. You know what to do, Seahawks fans. All right, final story. Let's get to the...

Oh, gosh, these cowboys. I mean, what a dumpster fire. So, this is interesting. Down 7-3 late in the first quarter. Cooper Rush had C.D. Lamb in the end zone. But Lamb apparently couldn't see due to the sunlight. You can see him here. He's like, where's the ball?

What's going on? And then he goes and complains to McCarthy. I couldn't see. And he basically said he wants curtains in the Jerry Dome to help with the side. sunlight situation. Well, Jerry Jones was very angry at this. Well, let's tear down the damn stadium and build another one. Are you kidding me? Everybody has got the same thing. Every team that comes in here has the same issues. I'm saying the world knows where the sun is. This is a meltdown

in progress. Jack Prescott apparently out for the season. There's reports of that from credible reporters. You know what? There's always a silver lining. They are a three-win team. I think they're going to finish the season as a four-win team and have a top five draft pick. Somebody's going to make a move to get Cam Ward. Dallas, there is a silver lining. I've been saying this for two weeks. Tank, soft tank. They just paid Dak Prescott a billion dollars to be their quarterback.

Somebody will move up to get Cam Ward. You'll get another. You'll get two ones, two threes, two. Takes one year in this league. You get the right coach, chargers, and some drafts. Picks, Houston, you can turn it around in one year. Let me push back on that. Did you see the Trey Lance trade where the T-49ers traded up for Lance, total bust?

You see the Bryce Young trade. Trade it up, absolute bust. I would be a little cautious if I'm around the league trading up for Cam Ward, who you're lukewarm, right? You don't even love him. No, I love Shadur. Rough game over the weekend. I'm not a Cam Ward guy.

So who's trading up for him? Colin, there is no talent on this team. And just by the way, Cooper Rush had 45 yards passing. Yeah, I watched. They can't move the football. I watched. Zeke Elliott goes from skipping meetings to fumbling inside the five-yard. Man, man.

He's always great. So, listen, the good news for the Niners, they played poorly in one. that's a mark of a good team. And Tampa's not a bad team. But they've got two or three real issues. One of them, you can tell what people care about in life. When New England had its dynasty, they kept Matt Slater a wide receiver there for 16 years. Why?

He was the best special teams player in the league. Dan Campbell's teams are physical. Jim Harbaugh's teams are physical. Immediately. It's what they care about. Lamar Jackson's body. He's transformed his body, right? Thinner, let.

You can tell when people care about things. They'll show you. Kyle Shanahan does not care about special teams. He has a disregard for it. They muffed a punt in the Super Bowl last year. They muffed to punt yesterday. They missed multiple field goals. I mean, week after week after week, their special teams are a disaster.

They just don't care. And you can tell me you care about something, but I'm going to watch your actions. And when I watch San Francisco, they do not care. It is not a priority. They muffed a punt yesterday. They did it in the Super Bowl. It's a problem. The second issue for San Francisco, half the league, is running a variation

of their offense. And so the element of surprise on the Debo jet sweeps, I couldn't tell you the last one that hit. I mean, good teams sniff those out. The Rams will sniff them out. The Chiefs will sniff them out. The good teams, Debo is not as explosive. And he also had yesterday, he got into a pushing match with a long snapper.

So I'm not sure why they signed Brandon I, you to a monster contract. He held out. Then they drafted two receivers. but there's two or three things. The special team's an issue. This sideline stuff. There's an agitation.

Yesterday is the first time they went back-to-back all year. They're getting old in key spots. Philadelphia is not old. They've got great young players on defense, really young. Detroit's not old. Green Bay's not old. Kansas City's not old. Baltimore's not old.

Buffalo's not old. San Franciscoville's old. They don't care about special teams. Now you've got a sideline confrontation. Half the league runs a variation of this offense. So it's not fooling. people like it did. In fact, Debo is having like a career low in yards per touch. So it's just, it doesn't feel like this is a hoist a trophy team. They are a good team. They are well coached.

They are good enough to play poorly and win. And nobody's saying they're terrible. But, I mean, special teams matter. Age, health matters. The element of surprise matters. I mean, a couple years ago, three years ago, when the offense wasn't as duplicated and copied, and it's still unique to San Francisco, and has its own feel, but a lot of people are running variations of it. They're not catching people off guard. And really the difference between San Francisco and Kansas City, they both have a great coach. They both have really good players. The difference is Mahomes, when you're imperfect, we'll win the games.

Brock Purdy played very well in the fourth quarter yesterday, but he's not Mahomes. And so as you age, as you have little issues in your team, sometimes the answer is, yeah, we got Lamar Jackson. We got Patrick Mahomes. I like Purdy. Played well in the fourth. But he is not Mahomes. And the sideline thing, I think it's just a frustration that runs deep.

I think this team's getting frustrated. I think they're getting more predictable. And here's Kyle Shanahan after. Probably an obvious one. Guys are frustrated and something probably happened. And, you know, brother scuffle a little bit. I didn't see any of this. I don't know how bad it was.

But something I'm not too worried about. We'll fix it. If it hasn't been fixed already, we'll fix it on the plane. then go back to loving each other tomorrow. So, yeah, I mean, you don't want this. It's not the end of the world. I always say, everything is something. Nothing is everything.

But the bigger issue to me is a disregard for special teams. And the fact they're not fooling people. The element of surprise feels mostly gone on a week-to-week basis. Okay, Philadelphia and Dallas played. I don't want to talk too much about the Cowboys. Let's talk Philadelphia. Dallas is awful. Probably the worst team in the league.

I think Carolina beats him in a couple of weeks. Philadelphia, in my opinion, has the best roster in the NFL. Now, you don't know some of their defensive players, like Quinean Mitchell. Like, the Toledo cornerback, that dude's a baller. Like, you just don't know much about their young players. You know Jalen Carter, very young. He's healthy now. Dean, the linebacker from Georgia, a lot of their defensive players, you don't know yet. You may not watch college football, but Philadelphia's offensive talent, you know, you know Jalen Hertz and A.J. Brown, and Devonte Smith and Seekwon Bark. You know Lane Johnson. Those kind of players they've had,

for years. You know them. Defensively, this is becoming a really interesting team, and you don't necessarily know them. I don't think this roster has a hole. In fact, that may be the coach. They draft well, they pay stars. But Kansas City feels a little bit light in terms of offensive talent,

and Baltimore and Detroit feel a little light in terms of defensive talent. This team doesn't feel light anywhere. They've got great veterans, great guys in their prime, tremendous young players defensively, who are not even in their prime yet.

So, I mean, and the other thing they're doing with Jalen Hertz, and this is a real thing, is that, and this is not a criticism, but there's one Mahomes. You know, there's one Josh Allen where you can just say, yeah, sling it 45 times. Jalen Hertz now, they're only asking him to throw 20 times a game. It's not a criticism. Jalen Hertz throwing 20 times a game and running seven times is excellent. When you're asking him to throw 37 times, it's not as excellent. So I think they've really figured out, you've got to give Nick Seriani credit for this.

They've kind of figured out with Jalen Hertz, this is what we want him to be. Let's not ask him to do that. Let's ask him to do this. By the way, that's how you have to manage most quarterbacks in the league. Peyton Manny, you could say, bro, go throw it 48 times. You know, he's one of one. You know, there's just not many guys like that. But I think they've found their identity.

They know what Jalen is. They're using them effectively. and their talent is all both sides, all over the roster. Here's Nick. Obviously, it didn't start the way we wanted it to start, but there's something to be said for guys that can rebound and play a really good game after things don't go right early on. Only team in the NFL, top seven scoring, offense, top seven scoring defense.
