Thanks for Megan House part of your day. Well, I'll say this. I watched the Mets game and the Yankees game last night.

The Mets are more fun to watch. I'm just telling you they're more fun to watch. I know the Yankees have the bigger brand. but when Steve Cohen took him over, we bought the team, it's like we're not going to be second fiddle anymore. Mets douse the Phillies, who were the best team in baseball early in the season.

I don't know, I've got to be honest. You don't have to like them. But as the kids say, we've got to put some respect on that name. What was the phrase you used yesterday? I stand on business. The New York Mets are standing on business. On my, okay, all right, Cowhertsville. All right, we got to be honest about it.

The Mets have gone from a great story to a great team. Since June, most wins best record in baseball, number one run differential, and just were a buzzsaw through the Phillies. Let's give you the highlight, Francisco Lindor, the Grand Slam. Here it is. The 2-1. Lindor towards right, center field. This one is big of the season. All right.

Steve Cohen's first big get, the billionaire, he took some big swings. But here's the key. He didn't get stubborn when a cut. They were a mess last year. They spent all that money. They were a mess. And so Steve Cohen said, all right, Max Scherzer, we took a swing that didn't work. Justin Verlander, who was coming off a Cy Young season.

You get the move. But Steve Cohen didn't get stubborn. He didn't double down. He pivoted. He moved off him, got some prospects. That's the way to do it. What he's become is a much better version of Steve Balmer of the Clippers, who remains bizarrely loyal to Kauai Leonard,

who's never healthy, not reliable, not a team leader, and frankly is a little odd. Lindor's everything. Great, kind of quiet, doesn't taunt. But it goes to Steve Cohen. When he bought the team, this was the goal. There's a difference between impulsive. You see that with a Jets ownership.

All these guys are rich. and progressive and smart. Again, Scherzer and Verlander were celebrated when they bought him over. And they should have been. Again, Verlander saw Young, Scher, big money pitcher, but it didn't work. They weren't healthy. They let him go. And by the way, I think both got beat up this year and injured. So they were right. But what they didn't do, Steve Cohen wasn't stubborn. He's the perfect owner. He's got a lot of money. He got great capital. He's super passionate, huge met pan. And he's not stubborn. He's not trying to justify his moves. He takes big swings.

And, you know, if you take big swings, we know this about home run hitters. They strike out a lot. All right, you got another at bat in an hour. Get ready. Don't turn one interception to two. Get ready. Get over it. Pivot.

And there was an interesting comment. It was here on Fox. After the game about Steve Cohen when he took over by a member of this team. I've been up here at the Big Lisa 16. And as you know, Derek. The Mets, you know, we're kind of thought of as like the other team in New York. And, you know, when Steve bought this team, he had a team, a dinner where he took us all individually and took time to have a dinner with us individually and said, how can we make this a world-class club?

How can we change the narrative on the New York Mets and make them not just the other team in New York, but the team? We wanted to get it done right here, right from the top to the bottom. and I'm so glad that we were able to do that for Mets Nation. Yeah, the Mets last night went from what was a great story, but if you look since June, they're a great team, and they're a great example of how to stand on business. Take big swings. Don't justify them.

Pivot if you have to. Verlander and Scherzer weren't bad moves. It just didn't work out, and the team was a mess last year. And now this year, they're magic. That's how to run a business. not the way the Jets do cross down. So tonight is actually a big Thursday night game. And you wouldn't think so.

It's just San Francisco, Seattle, we're not even a third through the season. But Brock Purdy this year, completion percentage is worse than Will Levis. His touchdowns are lower than Justin Fields and his giveaways double Daniel Jones. He has regressed to the mean. And what's concerning is he's only. missing one piece, Christian McCaffrey. And by the way, the backup running back to Christian McCaffrey is actually pretty good. They're missing one piece.

So basically, unless everything is perfect, he's a guy. Well, that's the opposite. Every stockbroker, every day trader, bro, is brilliant when the earnings reports are good. What happens when they're not? You lose all my money? Everybody's good in this league when they have time to throw and they have a stacked roster. A lot of quarterbacks win games. That's not the league. Okay. And remember, once you pay Brock Purdy, got to take away some of the toys. Yeah, like right now he's free. Last guy

taken in the draft, he's free. So you can surround him with an all-star team. You don't get Debo and Iuke and Kittle and Trent Williams if you have to pay him $39 million a year or $49 million a year. So tonight really is a no-excus game for Brock Purdy. First of all, Gino Smith is very average at quarterback, the one he's going up against. It's a big game. Everybody knows it. No complacency. Seattle is missing three starters on their defense.

Outside of Christian McCaffrey, all the weapons are there. The Niners remain a very good first-half team. They should take a lead in quiet the stadium. And the other thing is, it's a great head coach, Kyle Shanahan, against a rookie head coach. And as J-Mac pointed out yesterday, rookie head coaches the first time they play on Thursday night football, it's not good. It's just not good. Here's the other thing about Brock Purdy. And I do think he's athletic, more athletic than I gave him credit for.

And I think he's fine. I think he's a good quarterback. But good quarterbacks do not hold trophies. You know, they get into the playoffs, get bounced in the first round. That's what good quarterbacks do. And the standard for the Niners is not the standard for most teams. Only two teams in this league have a standard of winning a superstar. Super Bowl, that's it.

Maybe Buffalo. If they get to a Super Bowl, everybody will be happy in Buffalo. That's next. Maybe the Ravens get to a Super Bowl. Okay, Lamar can win. But there's only two organizations in the NFL that getting to the Super Bowl is not enough. Kansas City and San Francisco, both get there all the time.

Even Buffalo and Baltimore, if they get to a Super Bowl and lose, you'd be like, it would justify McDermott can coach, can get through the Chiefs. Hey, Lamar can win playoff games. We can stop talking about that. You'd be okay. There wouldn't be a victory parade, but it'd be okay. San Francisco loses again. Shanahan's in trouble, honestly.

He probably blew another lead. But this is the thing that does worry me, is that if you look, they call them splits. If you look at the 49ers offensive splits, first half, second half, quarter splits, here's what's worrying. They are fourth in the NFL offensively in the first half. 22nd in the second half.

Now, why would that be? Because the first half is Kyle Shanahan's scripted plays. It's not the coach. You keep blaming the coach. It's not the coach. Once everybody's seen the scripted plays, you know, the second half where Mahomes makes a run to win a Super Bowl. Or Mahomes makes a throw to beat Garoppolo. Jimmy Gion's script was great.

Needed a big throw in the fourth, missed it. That's the difference between Brady and the third. a lot of guys that couldn't beat him. Tom was good on script, okay. But the truth was, Tom never had a touchdown. I don't believe in the Super Bowl. First quarter ever. Brady was a second half guy. That's when Tom had seen the defense, had seen the tricks, had seen their game plan. Then Tom took over the game in the second half. Patriots were not a dynamic, robust first quarter Super Bowl team. They didn't drop sevens. They hit a few threes. So you win Super Bowl. and big playoff games off script.

You try to take leads on script, and the Niners continue to take leads and can't do anything. So, you know, look at it this way with the quarterback. When the GPS gets turned off, you're still going to get us home. Okay? GPS is turned off. Shanahan's plays off. They're done.

You got to get a win. You got to get us home when the GPS gets turned off. and that's the concerning thing if you look at the splits about San Francisco. So tonight's not just another, you know, Pacific Northwest, NFC West Showdown. No, it's a big deal.

Brock Pretty needs to win and play well. I don't worry about Shanahan. I don't worry about the stars. I worry about the kid. Julian Edelman, one hour from now, a little less, actually. Greg CoSell, if you bet football, fantasy football, just love football,

get smarter. Greg CoSell, 45 years NFL films. I got to tell you, I is last night, so the Dodgers had a bullpen. It was going to be a bullpen night. You're just bullpen guys against San Diego's on fire. Could you bet last night in Vegas? Could you bet Padres to get shut out by eight relievers?

Because that's what happened last night. That was nuts. Can you do more Yankees talk, please? That was a riveting win, Stanton monster effort, and I'm just thrilled. My Yankees are one-win. I will say this time. It's a rough week for the jet. The Mets are a better story than the Yankees.

And the Mets are more fun to watch than the Yankees. They were at home last night. And that was the eclectic atmosphere. Was it not? It was great. You try on the screen, you're like, oh, my gosh, there's a party. I find the Yankees, I don't know. You'd have to look at all the numbers.

Do they manufacture runs? I mean, if Judge hits one out or John Carlos Stang, that's fine. But I don't find the Yankees fascinating to watch. I find there's certain, like I think San Diego, they're cocky, they're hungry, they're young. Padres are fun to watch. The Mets are fun to watch. And also this thing hanging over the Mets is their history of letting their fans down. So, I mean, one of the more entertaining things to watch is Mets fans unravel.

But whoever comes out of the National League, Mets, Padres, Dodgers, those are fun teams to watch. Nothing against the Guardians or the Royals. But I don't find, there's been great Yankee teams to watch. The Jeter teams were great to watch. They had a mix of stars and, like, role players. This Yankee team doesn't move me. Are the Yankees like a black tie affair and the Mets are like a rave or something? They're just more fun.

And again, because they were such a hot mess last year, and because of their history, you find yours, and the way they're winning, which is late game stuff. I just find the Mets more fun as a television product. This would be like if the Jets made the NFL playoffs. It would be like, oh my gosh, look at this excitement. there have been a dumpster fire for over a decade. But the Giants have all the trophies.

Does anybody care anymore? This is interesting, though. According to the athletic, they polled 10 executives and coaches.

None of the 10 thought Sala should be fired this quickly. One of them said the team's good enough to win the division. Now you're not even focused on Buffalo because the coach was fired. Quote, it just doesn't seem well thought out. Also, on the athletic, in the offseason, the preseason, they served 21 coaches and executives about teams that can underachieve. This is interesting. The Jets finished top three. The reasons were aging Rogers, that's not Salas fault,

lack of creativity on offense from Nat Hackett. That's not Salah's guy. And in-house distractions. You can give him some of the blame on that. I don't have a problem. Certainly not all. But the only New York sports team it feels like in the last eight or nine years that hasn't underachieved is this year's Mets. Why?

Really rich, strong ownership. A low-profile, super-sharp Harvard GM. I think they got from Milwaukee. Translation. Upstairs. in sports matters a lot. Upstairs. Blame the coach.

Blame the coach. Blame the quarterback. You know who wins a lot? The Miami Heat. The Boston Celtics. The Dodgers. The Kansas City Chiefs. The Baltimore Ravens. Owners. Really strong. Owners. Executives.

I mean, think about this. Generally as a coach in the NFL. If you can be in first place, if you win your next game, historically you're usually safe. Not Robert Sala. For the record, the Jets defense this year. Number two in the NFL. That's Sala's side of the ball. And they were brilliant.

They were brilliant in the last game he was the head coach defensively. In the last three years, all under Robert Sala, the Jets have the number of number one total defense, not Spags in Kansas City, not Wink Martindale, you know, not, not Domingo Ryan's. There's Robert Sala outstanding his side of the ball, but he wasn't a head coach. It's funny, nobody ever works for the Jets. Maybe it's the Jets. So last year, this team won seven games with Zach Wilson, Trevor Simeon, and Tim Boyle at

quarterback. Let's be honest, he should have finished second to Kevin Stefansky and coach of the year. Seven games with that in the AFC? Let's go back to that quote. It doesn't seem well thought out. You know at Notre Dame, when you get onto the field as a player, you come through the tunnel, you see that sign play like a champion. This is what the jet should have as the players go on to the field.

It doesn't seem well thought. out. It never does. Keep blaming the coach. You got rid of the best coach on your staff. And oh, by the way, Aaron Rogers in his last 27 games with Lafleur and Sala is 14 and 13. The last time he threw for over 300 yards was December of 2021.

In that time, Davis Mills has done it four times. Zach Wilson's done it three. Garoppolo 4, Desmond Ritter 3, Mack Jones 3, Aaron, since 12, 12, 21. One time. Maybe it's not Sala, because it's always the coach, right? Here's the new interim coach, who, by the way, has now demoted Nat Hackett, switching to Todd Downing for the play calling. We all are familiar with the relationship he has with Nathaniel,

And they're very, very good friends that go back a long way. So he understood the decision and he was supportive of the decision. And I'm unfortunate for that. So Aaron's okay with this decision. Nat Hackett, who Sala wanted to demote. Word got out. Sala got the axe. Interim guy's like, well, you can't fire me now.

I got to, I'm the only interim guy with leverage in league history. I'm getting rid of. Matt Hackett, which should have been the move, which Sala considered in the off season, but was sort of vetoed by you know who. J. Mack with the news. No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Let's go to a positive story. The Eagles coming off a bye, Colin, very excited for their matchup against the Browns.

They did have a tough loss to the bucks in week four, but they were banged up, right? We're chucking that up as not much a big deal about Hertz. I mean, they're missing everybody. Come on. After that loss, Hertz said he and Siriani have had their moments when asked about how they would get together and figure things out over the buy. Well, yesterday, Hertz talked to the media and addressed the two linking up during the bye week. We're the two leaders of the team, you know, and I'm happy and fortunate that, you know, we're able to come together in harmony and have the same goal in mind and trying to get this thing right. I got a ton of confidence in him, a ton of confidence in what he brings.

and everything he's been able to accomplish. We've experienced different levels of adversity together, and we're excited for what's to come. Okay. All right, because for the record, if you polled me and people today in the NFL, who's the next coach to get fired? If the Eagles lay an egg off a buy.

Oh, come up. Time out. They better not. If they do, Siriani's getting fired. That's your bold prediction? Well, bold. They wanted him run out two weeks ago. If they lose this game.

I think if they lay an egg, he's out. Wow. What time out? You're a jet guy. Your guy just got fired after a great performance. Wait, wait, wait. How is it a great performance if you lose? You lost in the Vikings.

If you played Casper off in chess and it took him six hours to beat you, that's a great performance by you. I don't know if he's still living, but you get the point. My son, the chess player is not happy with that Casparov reference. Anyways, Colin, you're right. This is a get-right spot for the Eagles. This line tells it. It's going to keep going up.

The Browns are really banged up. I don't think they're quitting on Stefanski. It looks like there's almost a quiet quitting on Deshawn Watson. Yes. And I don't know how you fix that if you're Stefansky. The owner kind of made the bed. And there's a lot of numbers that say Watson has been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league this year, like Bryce Young level bad.

So you're right. I think the Eagles should win this. If they win a close one, is he in trouble? No, no, no. But if they go lay an egg here, offensive coaches with star quarterbacks, off a by, getting healthy, should not only win,

but look good winning against maybe the worst team in the league. And we just saw division. That's injury ravaged. Washington and the Eagles division just smashed. I mean, absolutely destroy the Browns. Dallas destroyed the Browns. That's a good point. The Browns only win is over the Jags.

So think about this. Didn't the Giants beat the Browns and the Cowboys beat the Browns? I don't know if the Giants played them. The Cowboys played. I think they did. I watched a couple of weeks ago. Wow. Everybody in their divisions beaten the Browns.

You don't think Jeffrey Lurie, if they get tagged by Cleveland, I'm good here. That's a good prediction. We should clip that off just in case it happens. But that's not even a big take. Philadelphia fires coach. They fired Super Bowl winning coaches. This early in the season? We already got one down.

Well, there's a lot of questions about that firing. Remember, Woody Johnson had never fired a coach in season before, ever. And now the new guy comes in and demotack it? Why couldn't Sala just do that? I don't know what's going on. Unlikely the Eagles fire him with a loss here. But that would be one of your best calls since I joined the show. 27 to 13.

Eagles to turnovers. I'm saying that's I do not think what I'm saying is crazy. This is not the Steelers. The Eagles history is they are not impulsive. They move off stuff that's not working quickly. They don't sit around and talk about it.

I respect that about Philadelphia. That would not. Firing Sala was viewed in the league by all these executives at the athletic as like weird. If you lay a stinker and get beat by Cleveland, and you pulled the same executives, they would say this. Yeah, Siriani lost the team.

My buddy Dave Wonstadt always says this. You can lose games. You can't lose the team. If you get, I don't think Sala lost the team. I can tell he didn't because I see how hard they played against Minnesota. He didn't lose the team. The team was playing their butts off in New York in London. But if you get smoked by Cleveland, you have lost Jalen Hertz in the offense.

At home, too. That would be a bad look. Next up, let's stay on the East Coast. and there's a huge matchup in Maryland this weekend with Jaden Daniels and the commanders heading to Baltimore to take on Lamar and the Ravens and what could become a great regional rivalry if these two quarterbacks stay healthy.

Daniels has made a lot of big plays running the ball this season. He's got comparisons to Lamar, but Jaden doesn't view himself as a similar quarterback. I don't like when people really try to compare me to Lamar and vice versa. You know, we're two different players. Like watching good quarterback play,

I'm a fan of his. how he plays the game, how he approaches the game. But, you know, we're two different quarterbacks, two different styles. But, you know, I just like going out there. And I appreciate what he's done for the sport and what he's done for the African-American quarterbacks. Yeah, and it's stylistically, they play a little alike. You know, because they've been dormant, they've been so bad for so long,

and they're in the division with high-profile Dallas and Philadelphia. I don't know if everybody's really paying attention to what Washington's doing. it is their numbers as a rookie quarterback and also Caleb Williams has taken a lot of the attention because he was USC and this kid is he's literally changed everything their O line we thought was really average looks great their running game we questioned looks great I mean we went into this season we're like I don't know if they can block for him they looked like the best O line in the league he's also got this demeanor that's all very tranquil and caught. He doesn't seem to get rattled. Even watching him in the pocket, I mean,

I don't want to say I missed on this guy. I thought Drake May was the better prospect. We'll see what happens with Drake May. But I mean, Daniels has been phenomenal. His numbers this season are actually better than Lamar's, and Lamar is putting up big numbers. Now, the one number that matters a lot is Lamar's record against the NFC, which we mention all the time. That's why I, 21 and one. That's why I'm stay, it's a stayaway game for me. Okay. That usually is because teams aren't used to seeing that kind of level of running quarterback. Well, you know who Washington sees every day in practice, Jaden Daniels, who is a running quarterback.

And Colin, some of these, I mean, you can't just blitz him off the edge, Jaden Daniels. He will just dance around the quarterback and scoot for 30 yards. Lamar can do that too. I think Washington is positioned to make this an interesting game. Well, they're getting six and a half. It was seven, and then early money on Washington. Now, we'll see what it ends up happening.

I love this game. I'm very excited for it. And I will say, I get on your case for whiffs a lot. You did say Washington this offseason, and my pushback was there's too much newness, new quarterback, new coach, new OC. But all the newness was an upgrade. It has been. So last year I took the Rams as my shocking team.

This year it was Washington. But you also like the Rams this year. Well, but I also like Denver this year. Oh, yeah. Well, that's still TBD. That's not. I don't know. Three game heater.

Feels like TBD is winning right now, not DOA. Oh, geez. All right. Final story. Let's get to everybody's favorite team, the New York Football Jets. They face the Bills on Monday night, and they face Josh Allen, who has had back-to-back clunkers. I mean, Colin, completing 42% of his passes in just one touchdown in losses to the Ravens and the Texans. Alan took responsibility for his play and knows that the improvement starts with him.

Well, I've got to be better. Ball placement. And, again, a couple throws that wish I could add back this last. game but just making sure that we're on the same page and it starts with the quarterback and that's on me the group of guys that we have in this in this room are special they work hard you know and they're they're smart football players and I got I got no doubt and I got a lot of trust in these guys Josh Allen you know who he could really use Devante Adams he probably could use tovante Adams

it also should be noted that that Monday night game against Jacksonville where they won what was it like 42 to 10 or whatever it was. Everybody crowned them after that game. Josh Allen is the man. In hindsight, that Jacksonville team is just garbage. And I don't know. Do we know if Buffalo's good, Colin?

I said this the other day to my friend John Middilkoff. I said there's two teams in this league. When the good version shows up, they can beat anybody. Buffalo and Arizona. But Buffalo's getting closer to Arizona than they are to Kansas City. The bills are becoming Arizona. Great quarterback. fun to watch on their best days they can beat anybody.

We think the bills are inches from Baltimore and Kansas City. No, they're not. They're not even. They're Arizona. The difference is Josh is going to win that division over and over, and Arizona's in a tougher division with better quarterbacks and coaches. Excuse me. But the truth is, this team, you never have any idea what version you get.

Just by the way, the bills needed a massive uphill climb last year to win the division. And Josh Allen against the Jets in his last four meetings, split. He's got five touchdown, six picks. He has not been great. Let's not give the bills this division yet, okay? It's not even close to over. Yeah, I'm going to give it to him. Wait, are you taking bills and blazing five?

No way. Are you? Now, it is two and a half. It was three, it's down to two and a half. You know the fired coach bump that happens around the league. Great quarterback at home, a chaotic, messy week for the team coming in. Oh, the bills on the road? Oh, yeah, if you need a good. Huge advantage it met life for the Jets.

All right. Okay, sure. Huge advantage. My bad. Well, they're in New York. You know. Yeah, it's not that. It's a quick bus ride from Buffalo or something like that.

J-Mac for the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Lie News. So last night had to qualify as a stunning performance by the Dodgers 8-0 over the Padre. So it was a bullpen game, which, you know, you do the regular season. You see it where you want to give everybody a rent. so you just go, you know, inning here, inning here for about, you know, six, seven relievers.

So it's only the second team ever. The Dodgers did something, only the second team ever to throw an eight pitcher shutout. And it was against the Padres, a team that doesn't get shut out much, and they were on fire. So what the Dodgers did last night, Major League Baseball is actually trying to eliminate, which is like going to your bullpen, slows down the game, kind of weird, a bunch of pitchers, nobody knows. Major League Baseball does not want that. I'm just looking at everybody pits like an inning.

So, you know, it was maybe an inning in a third, one guy, two thirds of an inning. Dave Roberts couldn't play Freddie Freeman or a shortstop because of injuries. And you're talking about a bullpen game. Those are nightmares. To salvage the season. And Dave Roberts is interesting. So he's won eight of nine division titles. And he probably, when he pulls in a Dodger Stadium, has to pay for parking.

There's never been a manager that has won this much in the history of baseball. and gets more crap. The knock on Dave Roberts, I'm like everybody else, sit in the summer, you watch a baseball game, and you watch the reaction to tow us. He's not intense.

He does not inspire the team. I think they're paid well enough to be inspired on their own. Here's the truth, though. He's thoughtful, he's smart, he's low-key. There's a lot, very Joe Torrey did this.

A lot of stars in the locker room. Not all of them loved each other. Big market media. This team gets along. I mean, they get a lot. I mean, it's a joyful team to watch. There's never any major controversies. If there are, Trevor Bower, you're out of the organization or show, hey, O'Tonnie.

It's more talk than reality. Everybody likes each other. And that's hard in baseball where you have a lot of downtime, 162 games, 250 days together, starting in spring training. But what they did last night is it just doesn't happen to go through with the hottest team hitting outside of the Mets in baseball. and you mow through the line it with a bunch of guys you've never heard of outside of Los Angeles pitching an inning. He played a lot of chess last night. And the key was that he didn't pitch anybody long enough.

They'll all be available Friday in game five. So tip of the cap to Dave Roberts, who again is just a class guy, but this is the way it works. It's like Aaron Boone's dealing with this. The difference is, like, Dave Roberts is like winning the division. every year. The only place he's not exceeding expectations is when he loses to really good teams in the postseason. And here he is last night managing a bullpen against the hottest hitting team in the National League. Overall, the guys were efficient, understanding that you know, they're going to have to do up downs, go a little bit longer potentially. So the efficiency,

the strike throwing was huge. And again, it just gives us options for Game 5. For me, to see our guys go through what they've been through and respond the way they have, really makes me excited about game five. Yeah. That was weird watching that game. I thought, and listen, it helps when Mookie bats and Otani, and you get the bats going, and you play with the lead. But, I mean, we've watched the Mets come from behind and score late.

We've watched the Padres do that. So you're thinking the whole, even in the fourth, fifth, sixth inning with the big lead, you're like, okay, one of these relievers is not going to hit, and they all hit. They all worked. and they're all available for game five. So Devante Adams has narrowed his list to where he's going, and let's stop talking about the teams and start talking about Devante Adams. There's only one choice here.

I got friends there and just cross your fingers on the cleanup. So I saw this story this morning,

according to the Athletic, DeVonte Adams, great player, why he left the Packers for the Raiders. I didn't get it. Aaron Rogers, closer to his prime. Derek Carr didn't get it. No chaos to chaos. Didn't get it.

Now you're in Mahomes Division twice a year. Didn't get it. So according to the Athletic, the Jets, Saints, Steelers are interested and the bills are monitoring it. So instead of talking about the teams, let's just talk about the player, the star. How could you even consider the other teams if the bills reached out to you?

Saints, Jets, Steelers? Hello, Josh Allen. So let me give me an example, because Devante may not be Randy Moss or a Calvin Johnson, but he's really, really good. Go take Randy Moss, as great as Randy Moss was. The year before he was with Tom Brady, the year before, three touchdowns, 550 yards. The year he was with Brady, the first year.

year. 23 touchdowns, 1,500 yards. And it works for a couple years, big years, record setting. Then he leaves, and he's bounced around to a couple teams. He plays 12 games. He goes back to two TDs and 250 yards. That's Randy Moss. So, like, it's about the quarterback. Like, nothing against Derek Carnar and Rogers. Hang out with your friends in the off season. Go to dinner on an off day. What are you doing? Like, do you have an agent? Representation? Are you asking him? You go to Josh Allen. You make it happen. I understood, in fact, When he said, I'm not interested in New England, totally get it. Jacoby Brissette, rookie quarterback, defensive coach.

If I was a receiver, there are three things I care about. Number one, who's the quarterback? Number two, do you have stability with the coach? I don't want to have to deal with new coordinators and new people, and you don't want to be a merry go-around like the Jets. Third thing is, do you have a good old line specifically left tackle? You know, that's why C.J. Stroud has worked. They had Laramie Tunzel, good offensive coordinator,

and stability with a head coach. So this to me is, Buffalo checks all the boxes on this. And I mean, listen, the Jets, here's something else to think about. The Jets have won 34% of their games in the last 14 years. But I didn't understand when he went from Green Bay to the Raiders. Like I get players leaving for big pay raises. Like Tyreek Hill. He wanted to get paid.

Miami's got better weather than Kansas. the city, you know, Tua was fine. You weren't going to a horrible quarterback from Patrick Malmes. Like, I get some of them, but Devante went from Aaron, who wasn't in his prime at the end, but close to it, to a chaotic organization and more of a B quarterback. Now, at the time, Aaron at the end, was closer to a B quarterback than anybody wants to acknowledge what he is now, especially since he hasn't had a 300-yard game passing since, like, December of 2021. But I just don't get this. You know what it reminds me of? When DeVante went from Green Bay, to the Raiders, it reminds me of Kevin Durant going from the Warriors to Brooklyn.

You're like, what are you doing? Great leadership, great coaching, no chaos, you know, high standards, Steph Curry to Kyrie, Brooklyn Nets, second name in town. Like, I just don't get it. And I mean, here's the other thing is that all the teams could use him that are interested. Pittsburgh, I mean, when you're that good, everybody could use you. It's not like the Patriots couldn't pick up. out first downs before Randy Moss.

Like, everybody could use Randy Moss. Everybody could use, maybe not Minnesota, but they'd figure out a way to use him. But the bill's receivers were 26th in yards so far this season. So they are desperate for a guy. Last week, they were terrible because they were missing a slot receiver. Like, they don't have a guy yet. So this one to me is just, if I'm Devante Adams, I just tell my agent, make it work. Make it work in Buffalo.

Yes, it's cold after Thanksgiving. congratulations on playing inside in Vegas. Like they're just, and also the Raiders now, now that Dax signed, because there was a strong rumor, or it wasn't even a rumor, I was told that the Raiders were going to look long and hard at Dak if he became available. Patriots drafted to the quarterback. Raiders don't really have one. And so there's a chance, you know, I would say a pretty significant chance.

The Raiders draft a quarterback. Yeah, but like 50% of those guys hit. so this thing may never end. So translation, go find a star quarterback. It'll work out. There are some things in this league. Just don't overthink it. If you have a star quarterback, he'll sort of solve everything.

It's the eraser. Like Mahomes, we've got to rebuild our own line. We don't have a great receiving core. Same with Lamar Jackson. They lost three offensive linemen. They keep winning. Jaden Daniels, C.J. Stroud took over laughing stocks. They're erasers.

They just fix everything. So if I'm Devante Adams, I'm jets, not interested. I get the buddy-buddy thing. But I just don't, you can't go work at a company. If you're a high-profile employee right in the middle of your prime, maybe late prime, but still like four or five great years left, I'm not working at a company because I have a buddy there. Like you're either competent or you're not, you're great or you're not. I'm not there for, you know, we can go meet for coffee down the street after work.

All right, Greg Koselle, top of next hour, NFL films 45 years. Our big 10 bets later. You picture upset of the week? There's one every week, J. Mack. We put the week six schedule up. There is an upset every week. Every stinking week we got an upset. Sad, but I'm kind of warming up to Drake May and the Patriots pulling off a bit of a shock.

Listen, remember Malik Willis? Nobody wanted to touch the Packers when Malik Willis was a starter. LaFluor coached a great game. I don't know that the Patriots coaching said. is capable of that. That being said, I just think the Texans are vulnerable. Have you seen the splits when CJ Stroud is a big favorite?

He's not good in his career. Like, it's a small sample size. But they're also not as good on the road. Not as good on the road. Young quarterbacks can struggle at times away from home and comfort. Don't know about Joe Mixon. Niko Collins out. Just a lot of things going against the Texans who, by the way, are coming off a huge game against

the bills. That was a big emotional game. Big emotional way. It's like a letdown. It's like, oh, remember the Patriots were hosting the Seahawks and we all love the Seahawks. Seahawks had to travel, kind of sleptwalk through it and won a close game. It feels like the Texans

probably win this by three or four, or the Patriots are live to pull the upset outright. Are you buying that or no? I mean, Arizona's always a live dog at Green Bay. Arizona to me is just McBride, Harrison, Wilson,

Connor, Kyler, has a lot of weapons there. And then Packers are a little beat up on the offensive side. Christian Watson back at practice. You see that? A bit of a surprise. Romeo Dobbs is apologized, I guess, to the team. Oh, he did? Not a formal apology, but hey, I'm back, guys.
