This is an IHeart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.

I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives,
helping people in need with thoughtful solutions.
Sike, I'm a comedian.
I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most legally
dubious advice known to me.
This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.

The story I've told myself can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the
possibility of connection.

And, of course, our bonus podcast, overpromise.
Just subscribe.
And let's do this live from New Orleans.
I've already been eating like a slob, already drinking, having fun.
It's a great city.
Boozing and schmoozing.
The weather is great.
It's so good to be back here.
This is not to brag or anything and not to date ourselves.
Like our 19th Super Bowl week.
And it never gets sold.
So exciting.
So much fun, all leading to the big game on Sunday.
Super pumped about it.
So you got to start preparing your fixings and your chips and dips and where you're going and who you're inviting.
And again, all the storylines and all the guests will be bringing it to you throughout the week.
Hope you had a great weekend.
Hope you had a David Benavita sort of weekend.
Yeah, we were in Vegas for Fight Weekend.
And there was some damn good fights.
We had a lot of funny times.
Vegas always a great time.
Yeah, we got to tell you about it.
Lots to get to.
We got last one standing.
We're giving away prizes.
We're going to do things that made you go, hmm, all weekend long.
Obviously, we're going to talk about Luca and AD.
I got to ask that.
Would it be a bad look?
Would the Fox Sports people get mad if I showed up with the male version of the Bianca sensory outfit?
What if I just showed up in like a sheer outfit?
You just ruined my surprise.
I was going to wear it on Friday.
We're filling in for the herd on Wednesday.
Let's make an impact.
I'll wear my sheer outfit.
Yeah, that was wild.
Hope you enjoyed the Grammy's last.
night. I didn't really watch him, to be honest.
But I watched it. Just to be
in the loop, and I'll tell you what, I don't know if anyone's
having a better week than Kendrick Lamar
wins a handful of Grammys
and then he's doing the Super Bowl halftime show.
No, what's ironic about it or odd, however you want to look at it, is that a
disc track, Danny G. and I were talking about it earlier.
A disc track, which
became an anthem, also got all these
accolades at the Grammys. Like, how do you think Drake
feels about that? A disc track against Drake
is celebrated, you know,
at the biggest event of the year.
in music. Yeah, there's been hundreds
of disc tracks and hip hop
over the years, and
none have ever won an award.
So this goes down in rap
history. One like five, and if
you didn't get Rich's reference yesterday, because you have
a life and you didn't see it on social media.
I don't know how you missed it on social media.
Because not everybody lives that life. People
on the road and they're busy. Bianca
Sensory is Kanye West's
wife, and she's
a good-looking woman, but she showed up with
nothing on. That was the whole
story. Nothing on.
No, but when we say...
She had a trench coat on. She disrode
and then went nude.
Right. It was like a nude dress.
Like completely see-through.
But even by saying see-through, you're
giving you too much credit. It was like
saran wrap. I don't even know how to describe it.
It was almost like a big zip block bag.
Yeah, exactly. You can see it all.
That was yesterday.
Was it better than Jaden Smith's big mansion head?
Dude, that was the dumbest thing I've ever
seen in my life.
Jaden Smith, Will Smith's son, showed up with a
Castle on his head.
It's so dumb. I'm glad I didn't watch anything.
Castle, great school.
I'll tell you this.
What went on in the NBA over the weekend was so big that it got a shout-out at the
Grammys last week.
They came back from commercial, and then there was Jim Gaffigan, and he's like,
during the commercial break, I got traded to the Lakers with Trevor Noah.
So this Luca, Anthony Davis, we've got to dive right in.
We're coming back from the fight.
Fight was great, by the way.
I do got to say that.
We had a great time in Vegas, and we interviewed Jim Lampley and Brian Custer.
If you missed any of that, we even did a bonus pod.
Check Kavino and Rich on Apple Podcasts.
Benevides, the Mexican monster, battled.
David Morel was the fight of the year, even though it's February.
It was a battle for the ages.
The Pitbull Cruz fight was great.
And while all this was going on, Israel Adasanya got knocked out in UFC earlier that day.
But it was a great weekend for.
for fights in a great weekend, drama-filled weekend, drama show, Triple G style of sports.
Because we're at the fight, and I got to paint this picture because if you've never been to a fight,
there's like a foggy, dreamlike atmosphere going on.
It's like a smoky Vegas atmosphere.
It's like you're at Photon in the late 80s, laser lights and fog.
And, you know, it's this feeling of this fight.
So it's like a dreamlike sort of quality in the air.
You're like, man, that fight was wild, right?
I sure it wasn't the edible I gave you?
It could have been the edible.
It could have been the boozing and schmoozen.
Could have been Vegas.
But there is a vibe in the air, is my point.
And we're riding off this high of the fight.
Like, damn, that fight was wild, right?
That was a battle.
No, I'll give it the analogy.
You know when you get out of a concert?
Or you're off a roller coaster.
Yeah, when you leave a good concert, your hearing's not right.
Like, you're still in like this, like, almost like a fog.
And it was a good fight.
So we're leaving the casino.
Man, Benavitas.
I think he'll kill Canelo.
I don't know.
We're talking about the fight.
We get a text on our phone from our buddy's spot.
And it was Luca traded to the Lakers.
Like, yeah, right.
Like, you immediately thought you'd click it and there'd be a naked black guy sitting on his bed.
Right?
You're like, this can't be.
This is fake.
Wood.
He got me again.
Right.
Like, this is a fake link.
I know our buddies and I know how these work.
I'm not buying into this.
Yeah.
It's always like San Francisco Chronicle or something, right?
Like something weird.
And you're like, oh, I was banned, but it's a fake link.
But you hear a buzz not only about the fight in the casino, you hear a buzz about,
yo, did you see Luca, Lakers?
Yo, AD's gone?
You hear this buzz, and you watch, and it's like time standing still and people are looking
at their phone.
And you realize, what?
This is real?
Well, from my perspective, you went ahead of us to meet up with some listeners and some colleagues at the center bar.
Yeah.
So Kavino's already at the bar ordering a drink.
Danny G. and I stopped for a slice of pizza.
The smart move.
The smart move.
I think that was the edible's kicking in.
So we're getting a slice, and there's a long line.
And all at once, almost like a damn catastrophe, but it wasn't bad news.
It was fun news.
Everyone looks down at their phone.
And the first instinct was, you know, did she?
Rams get hacked because everyone's responding to his tweet about this trade.
And the sentiment was, y'all, this is fake.
And we're looking on all different social medias to see, yo, is this real?
And immediately he follows it up with another tweet.
Like, again, I was not hacked.
This is real.
And then the conversation starts.
Yeah, because, again, this was so out of left field, even though that's a baseball example.
Would it be Danny Jay?
He was straight, so far off the bench.
that so far off the court, so off the court.
So far out of the G League.
Yeah, you're like, what?
How is this possible?
Did anybody know about this?
So many questions come to mind.
So, again, had a great time at the fight,
catch it on our podcast feed,
but after the fight,
the biggest story is Luca for AD.
So it's a question of who wins the trade?
Did LeBron know?
Is this the biggest trade ever of our lifetime?
We're racking our brains trying to figure that out.
Is anyone safe in the NBA?
And is this really about the owners flexing that?
They're still in control here.
You know, there's so much going on with the storyline.
You just ask like four good questions.
And I have more to add on to that.
But I think everyone immediately was quick to be like, come on, like LeBron didn't know.
And somehow, I believe he really didn't.
Maybe he's just a good actor in this one.
But I don't think LeBron was in the loop as you think.
I believe it too.
I believe the storyline because, again, this is about moving.
forward. This is the first time we've seen
a team moving
forward, thinking forward
outside of LeBron. And I think
had he known, he may have put a stop
to it because AD's his boy. Like, maybe
it wouldn't have happened if they included him, so I do
believe that. We actually have
the audio of Shams talking about
the announcement he made. Take a listen.
I mean, I thought my phone
was hacked when I got the text messages
with the details of the trade and
when I got winded the deal. But
you peel back the curtain and for the
Mavericks, they honestly, internally believe that this move puts them in a better position
to win a championship.
Of course, there are issues that they had, obviously, with Luca Dantz's conditioning
levels to an extent, but they have that belief.
And when you think about the next several months, the next few years, we're going to know
the exact answer to whether they were right in this decision or if they were wrong.
I mean, it's like a draft, right?
people do the degrading of a draft
and you're like, how are you grading something
when they didn't play it down?
They didn't shoot one free throw.
They didn't take, you know, one at bat
and you're grading a draft or a trade.
Well, not only that, you can't grade this
because you don't know if the moves are finished yet.
So you really can't fully grade it.
If you want to grade just the trade
and where it is right now,
you got to give advantage Mavericks
because they're gearing up to win now.
Oh, you think that?
I saw that.
There's no question.
On social media, people are gearing for the future unless they get more moves in the making and find a big man.
There's no question that the Mavericks are playing to win now and they believe that defense wins and that AD was the missing piece here.
So the Mavericks have an advantage that the Lakers don't.
Lakers are gearing toward the future and they win all around because Luca is undeniably a great.
He's 25 years old, but they still have a missing piece.
I think if the Lakers make that move, then you're saying, yeah, man, they're definitely.
definitely making a move to win this year, which is awesome.
But they still need some pieces and some moves to be made.
That's the best part about these fake grades,
because what you just said makes a lot of sense.
But I've seen people say the complete opposite
that the Lakers clearly won this,
because they're planning for life beyond LeBron James.
Yeah, in the big picture, in the long run.
So, I mean, there's a lot of people.
If you asked 100 people, I would argue 7 out of 10 would say
Lakers win this trade.
Again, that's almost a day.
different sentiment, though. Who wins this trade? Yeah, in the long run as a franchise and
organization, Lakers clearly, as far as who really wins in the moment, as far as championships
this year, if it were to remain this way, the Mavericks are looking better at the moment,
because they just beefed up their defense tremendously. Danny G., are we going to see, because
you're the resident NBA guru and Lakers fan of the show. So this matters to him.
We know that it's not done yet.
I hope not because I like Jackson Hayes, who right now is the big man for the Lakers.
Yeah.
But they obviously need more size.
You have the nuggets and you also have to deal now with AD on the Mavs.
And you're hearing whispers of, I mean, all sorts of names, right?
But even a Jimmy Butler who made it clear that he wants to be a Phoenix son,
he may end up on the Mavericks for all we know.
And again, what we learned, if anything, is that the players aren't all in control,
we sometimes think they are.
The owners are flexing big time.
Not only are the, you know, Lakers and Mavs flexing,
but this is a joyful day for all the owners,
as you've heard all over social media and on the news,
because it reminded everybody,
and you heard Kevin Durant say it over the weekend,
is anyone safe?
And who are the real untouchables?
And is there such a thing anymore in the NBA?
If you could dish a Luca and an AD,
you know, sort of an even swap at the moment
and no one even know about it.
I was confused about the trade when I was standing with Rich in the pizza line because I didn't know whether to be fully excited about it or not because I like AD.
I've loved watching him play for the Lakers.
He's been an integral part of the team, obviously, helped win the championship, even though a lot of people discount it because it was the COVID season.
But watching AD be a monster on both ends of the court and then you get a guy now who's an offensive weapon.
then obviously the hole in the lineup,
the hole in the roster right now is defense in size.
That's the thing.
So if the Lakers can pull a move to get the big guy out of Utah
or get a Miles Turner or somebody like that,
there's a small list of big guys available right now,
I'm really curious to see the move they make
before the trade deadline on Thursday.
Danny was in the pizza line, confused about,
is this good for his Lakers?
I was confused because Danny goes,
do you have Hawaiian pizza?
I learned that Danny's
a Hawaiian pizza guy. He's a
pineapple's in a half. And if you guys
are confused, how do you think LeBron
felt when he was at dinner and he realized
his boy got traded? Talk about conflicting
feelings, right? It's like,
my boy's gone, but now I get a superstar
to join my team,
a guy that he admires,
and of course Luca idolizes
LeBron, so there has to be a lot
of conflict there to the point where
it's still a new story that LeBron has stated he wishes to stay with the Lakers as if there was going to be a doubt there because you have to wonder how he felt in that moment.
I imagine extremely conflicted.
Well, I think LeBron played it well from a younger perspective if you're talking to millennials and younger.
Your response on social media to a breakup, to a new job, to something happening with your friends or family, people put way too much stock in the social media response.
And I think LeBron posting a couple heartfelt photos of him in A, D, says,
saying, yo, go to Dallas and slay it, my friend, go do it.
I think that to me is a good look while the same time embracing like,
you, we're getting looking.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
And he put out all fires of he knew about it immediately.
So immediately it was on social media that he knew nothing about this.
And anyone that insinuated differently, he was calling him out as a clown.
Yeah, love you, my dog, go crazy over there.
And a picture of them hugging and a picture of them embracing with the NBA trophy and champagne.
I'm with Danny G.
When you look back...
He even posted like a montage of AD as a Laker.
So he's letting it be known like AD.
AD's my boy.
You're my boy, but...
And this is part of the business.
And as a true professional, LeBron has played with so many great players
and he knows that's part of the deal.
Even though I'm sure he's unhappy about it,
yeah, that's the right move to make.
But when I look back at AD's run as a Laker,
he had so many injuries,
but I'll always look at him as a guy that helped them win a championship.
And he's been my favorite Laker.
Yeah, he was great.
I'm not alone as a Lakers fan saying,
if it had been LeBron traded instead of A.D. for Luca,
I would have been even more excited.
Because if it was Luca and Anthony Davis together,
then that would have been the dream.
Really?
Yeah, oh, yeah.
And then after all that love for A.D.,
LeBron posted a really delicious-looking meal.
I didn't know LeBron's in the food game.
Oh, yeah.
What is that?
Short-ribin grits?
Some red wine?
There's so many questions.
I think you're hungry.
Is this the greatest?
duo that LeBron
has been a part of. He's played with so many
big names throughout his career. That's very hard to say, right? Dwayne Wade in his prime,
you know, with Bosch also, and then
Kevin Love. He's played with so many superstars. But then when Rich
finally, when Rich and Danny came back from their
munchy pizza session,
he joined us at the bar and we're like, whoa,
can you believe this? Again, we were in Vegas when this trade happened for the
fight. The question
was, because we were all in such shock.
hold on a second.
Is this the biggest trade of our lifetime?
That really was where we were when we found out,
like, have we ever witnessed any trade this big in our lifetime?
Because even if you're a casual basketball fan,
you're like, man, this is crazy, dude.
How did nobody know about this?
And how is this going to unfurl?
And is this the biggest one?
And we came to the conclusion that there's only one other,
let's say, player swap in this way that compares,
and it still doesn't even compare.
Listen, this is such a big deal.
One of the people we were having drinks with at the bar is one of our friends and guy that listens every day, West and Vegas.
And he couldn't care less about the NBA.
And he was like, this is really exciting.
Oh, yeah.
I mean, it was just an exciting story for just a sports fan.
And the one, and we didn't want to look it up because that's cheating.
When you're at the bar, you know what?
We went old school.
We went with, let's use our brains.
I found one in my producer brain.
Oh, really?
In the brain of producing and just, I don't know.
without looking and Googling everything, sometimes it's fun to just say, let me try to think.
And if you're roughly 40-ish, 30, 40-50, let's take it back to like 1980, 1980 till now, the last 45 years.
Is there a trade of two stars even close to this?
And only one came to mind.
Yeah.
The first thing that came to mind for me was Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff.
Oh, you said that one?
Yeah, because when that was brought up, like, oh, yeah, that was a really good one.
one. But at that moment,
Goff wasn't this
standout superstar that he
became in Detroit. He helped the Rams
get to the big game. Yeah, of course. But remember,
they still thought he was a liability. He wasn't
going to get them the championship. But again,
a quarterback swap that benefited
both cities. And you're right,
two big stars. So when
Danny G. brought that up, and I forgot who brought it up,
I was like, yeah, that's probably the
only thing even remotely
close. And it's not even
close to what we're experiencing right
now, which makes it so exciting and what makes it really ironic that we're talking NBA
on the first day of Radio Row at Super Bowl Week in New Orleans.
Never thought that.
That's how significant this move was.
It was so big because think about when LeBron said, yo, we own Christmas Day and the numbers
come out and there's like 10 times many people watching football and basketball.
But when you talk about what's a trade of this magnitude, keep in mind.
I agree with that Goff wasn't a star that Stafford was, but Goff has.
had taken that Rams team to a Super Bowl, and if you remember, that was a team that lost 13 to
three to the Patriots in what arguably was one of the more boring defensive Super Bowls where
they can only put up three against the Patriots. So that's why the Rams started saying, we got a
great squad here, but we only put up three in the Super Bowl. So that's when they said, let's make
the move for Stafford. Stafford ends up winning a Super Bowl. So then it's like, all right, advantage
Rams. They got Stafford in one. But then the last two years, you're like, well, Gough really settled
into Detroit.
Oh, yeah.
And up until they floundered in the divisional round, people thought, oh, now Detroit's got
their guy, and he's an MVP candidate.
So, Goffin Stafford, if you can think of another, I can't.
Not this big, you know, significant, yes, but player for player, two superstars.
You know, with stats.
Yeah, exactly.
Nothing matches this.
No, it's wild.
I mean, you have to go back to 19, 18, when the Yankees got Babe Ruth, honestly.
and I don't even know who they traded for him.
I have no idea how that worked out.
Someone said maybe put Paul George SGA in that conversation,
but SGA was just not an unknown, but not a proven superstar the way he is now.
He was an upcoming, a rising star.
A rising star.
So I don't know if he could even put that one in there.
So if you have any other answers at Covino-Ritch or 87799 on Fox.
Now let me pose this question too.
Again, there's lots of questions that we pose from this trade.
Who wins?
Did LeBron know?
Biggest trade ever?
Is anyone safe?
Are the owners flexing?
Here's one more question to think about,
and then we'll get your feedback.
Apparently, the story today is
Luca just bought a house.
Apparently?
Not like a little beach cabana.
He bought a $15 million mansion
that he closed on
last week in Dallas.
That's a big deal.
So, AD just got a new property
in Southern California as well.
So both of these guys.
Both of these guys in an awkward situation.
You know, this move from Texas to L.A. affects Luca with that max deal.
He loses $117 million in the process.
He bought this house, right?
Their lives get turned upside down.
But when you realize that AD bought a house in L.A.
And Luca bought a house in Dallas.
If somebody knew ahead of time, if, put it to this.
way. The owners knew, right? They were talking about
for about a month. Dallas only
went to L.A. That was the other part of the story.
They only went to L.A. to negotiate
nowhere else, nobody else.
But if somebody were to find out, do they
owe that information to the
player before they were to purchase
something? Because I know Rich
and I have a story. I know you have a personal
story about a radio friend of yours.
So, think about
that. Like, if you found out your
buddy was going to get fired and
he was about to buy a house, would you
feel it to be the right thing to do in your heart to be like, yo, dude, before you bought that
house, before you invest your money, I just want to let you know I heard a little something.
I heard some rumblings.
I heard some rumblings about your future here.
Like, what would you do in that situation?
Plus, we got things that made you go, hmm, Super Bowl week edition here on the show.
Plus a question about cooking for the big game for the Super Bowl, all that and more.
We got Kavino and Rich right here live from the.
New Orleans, Super Bowl, Media Row.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, huge news?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
First people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name,
Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it
one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast.
We could call in and say, hey Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy,
not quite.

Those people are starving for banter.

Help!

But there's so much more to me than me.
I'm an actor.
I'm a comedian.
and recently I've become quite the helper myself.

helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.
Sike, I'm a comedian.
I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant,

Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva,
actress, mother, lover,
and a Gen X woman walking through life
one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time.
You ladies know what I mean.
I'll bet you have.
a paramedipausal chin here you do.
So let's talk about it.
Join me on my new podcast.
How hard can it be with the Adamia Riva,
where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood
as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS.
All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own.
I was like, what the hell is that?
I was married when I had her,
so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be.
Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Wait, what sex?
Dating.
At 45. How hard can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy?
That one's kind of hard.
Well, that's lighting.
They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be?
I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public.

Again, I'm Steve Covino.
That is Rich Davis.
Danny G. is here.
Bo is on the phones at 87799 on Fox Iowa, Sam.
Buyers got your updates.
And right quick, Fox Sports Radio Nation, follow us at Covino & Rich to follow our New Orleans adventures, our Super Bowl adventures.
We'll be posting throughout the week at Covino and Rich and, of course, at Fox Sports Radio.
Now, before we get into things that make you go, what would it take to get Steve Covino to do karaoke on Bourbon Street?
Is it possible?
Why won't you do it?
I would do it
I would easily do it
But why karaoke is like a big thing on Bourbon Street?
You go to Cats Meow?
We've been there before.
I don't know, man.
I don't know if they're ready for this.
You think?
Okay, I'm saying.
We're coming up to Grammese or you know?
Yeah, and what song do I choose?
That's a good.
Let me think about that.
But I'm here to have a great time
and do lots of big interviews.
We're filling in for Colin on Wednesday
and our show on Wednesday.
So, double doozy.
Thank you guys for hanging out with us.
We appreciate that.
Before we get into things that make you go, hmm, we want to talk about Luca and his house purchase.
AD and his house purchase.
We like these moves.
We get excited about them, but people's lives are flipped upside down.
And the casual fans like, whoopity do, man, I feel real bad for these multimillionaires.
That is kind of tough when you think about it.
But there is a part of me that I even say, whoopity do, these guys, you know.
Part of me, too.
But, hold on, let's look at Anthony Davis.
Oh, his spread is amazing.
I mean, the guy makes almost $50 million a year, and he's been in the NBA,
and his total earnings in the NBA is in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
So when you're like, guys got to move, wha, there's a part of me that feels that way.
I'll be honest.
There's a lot of emotions going on.
I think we're going to see that translate on the court.
We're supposed to see Luca on Saturday, right?
On the 8th, he's supposed to return and play for the Lakers.
Let's hope. That'd be cool.
I think both of these guys feel a little disrespected.
I think you're going to see a fire lit for both dudes.
I think you're going to see.
Luca more so, because he basically has been called fat.
Exactly.
They're calling him out of shape.
He's a fat, so they don't believe in his conditioning.
The memes are, the memes are Luca as a Laker, and it's a picture of James Corden.
Like, they're fat shame in the hell out of this dude.
But Lebrano, keep him in shape, keep them honest.
Just living in L.A. in the lifestyle and, you know, looking good in that.
Oh, and that yellow and gold?
The fat shaming.
The fat shaming doesn't stop with James Corden.
Do you see it said Luke's first triple double?
And it was a in and out burger.
The memes are going at him.
That's not right.
I want to show you a number when you talk about feeling bad for people.
Yeah.
Now, listen, I'm not trying to make a comparison to something terribly sad.
But you know there's that section of people that didn't feel compassion for rich people who lost their homes in the fire?
Yeah, trash bags.
Yeah, like trash bags.
So they're rich.
It's like, are you kidding?
I get it.
Tragedy, this and that, but moving isn't losing your house.
It's just a pain in the ass.
I want you to look at the career earnings of Anthony Davis in the NBA
and then tell me if you feel a little bad, okay?
Yeah, but when you just bought a house.
Read that number to everyone.
$335,911,75,75.
You feel bad still?
Not really, but they're still humans.
I know.
You could keep those purchases and buy another home in your new city.
Luckily, that's the luxury they have of being super rich.
But I'll give you one personal example on something that Rich dealt with one time.
Yeah.
In 2020, Rich and I said, you know what?
We're doing pretty good here.
2020, we're on ESPN TV.
We had a daily show every night on ESPN.
And we had a nice little gig at Sirius X-S.
COVID hits.
and we lost one gig.
I'm like, yeah, we're still okay.
We lost another gig, and guess what?
We had just bought two new homes.
I bought a new home and Rich Barton.
We don't live together.
No, we don't live together.
But we had both.
Separately, we had just purchased new homes in Los Angeles
because we were like, oh, we're doing good.
And I remember thinking, like,
there was a level of panic, like, oh, man,
we just lost two gigs, and we just bought two houses.
Why do you guys share hotel rooms?
that's weird.
I know, yeah.
So look, my confidence put that to rest a little bit.
Like, we're going to be okay.
I got it.
And it worked out.
And it worked out great.
But there was a minute of panic where you're like, man, how do we get by?
And then there's another story of Rich when he worked at Z100 in New York City.
Yeah.
He thought he was the nighttime hottie that was going to be there forever, nights on Z100,
which was such a great gig for him as a young man in his come up in radio.
and you have a friend that tipped you off on something real important.
My buddy Nico, and I was not that confident, by the way.
I love that you think I was.
But I was getting in my mind, I'm like, I don't know if they're going to keep me around forever.
Because you know on radio, especially like music, top 40 or hip hop or rock radio.
They make moves more often, right?
I was like, I don't know.
Our buddy Nico got a heads up.
Like, yeah, I don't think they're going to extend your contract.
And he heard rumblings and was probably told, don't tell Rich.
and he's like, that's my boy, I'm telling him.
And he pulled me side.
He's like, yeah, they're not going to renew your contract.
So before Rich made any moves, any permanent moves, life-changing moves, investments or anything,
our buddy, Rich's buddy at the time, did a solid and told him something that he really
didn't want to tell him, and that was, hey, you're probably getting fired soon.
Well, I remember I always heard a story.
I might come up, and this is not just radio, but it's any industry.
I heard that the morning guy
and usually the morning radio people
in that old school radio world were paid the most.
I heard that the morning guy
was about to buy a beautiful new home
and put his kids in a private school in that area
and like he had this whole plan
and everyone behind the scenes like
oh yeah they're firing him
and the bosses let him go through with all that
and I remember thinking that was the weakest move ever
like at that point you got to be like hey man
We may need to fire earlier because I don't want to see a grown man or woman go through all that.
And unfortunately, you hear stories like this all the time.
Yeah.
And, you know, was Luca and AD tipped off?
No, hell no, because that's just business and I get it.
But it's still unfortunate and it does pose the question.
If you knew this stuff, would you tell that person before they made those moves?
Hit us up.
I think you have to.
87799 on Fox or just hit us up at Covino and Rich.
Now, next, we get into things that made you go, hmm, Super Bowl edition.
Any story in the world of sports or entertainment that made you scratch your noggin this weekend.
But first, let's go to our boy.
Dan Byer, what's up, D.B.?
Guys, a lot going on in the National Football League, including Commissioner Roger Goodell,
having his yearly press conference prior to the Super Bowl.
It's changed dates from years ago.
It used to be on a Friday, then it was a Wednesday.
Now it's happening on a Monday where reporters can have.
ask him all sorts of questions about things going on in the league.
And somebody asked him today about the theory that the Kansas City Chiefs,
the AFC representative in the Super Bowl, were getting an officiating bias.
Here's the commission's response.
It's ridiculous theory for anyone who might take it seriously.
But the end of the day, you know, it's something we always have to continue to work on.
How do we make our officiating better?
Also talked about the possibility of replay assist.
Replay assist this year, I think, was a big.
step forward for us. I see us in the future adding more plays and we'll look at that with the
competition committee. I think there are areas like face mask and some of the other areas that I think
we could add to that and assist the officials in what's a very fast game. That was always my thing. I always
wanted face masks to be reviewed. It could be coming in the near future. You know, DB, it's interesting
that it's such a narrative that the commissioner had to respond. Like usually like a story like that
it would garner no response from someone of importance.
But the fact that Roger Goodell had to come out and say that just shows that the narrative has caught some steam.
Yes, absolutely.
People are talking about it and talking about it a lot.
People talking about the trade request of Miles Garrett.
The Browns defensive end wants out of Cleveland.
Browns have responded by saying they have no plans on trading Garrett,
who's under contract through 2026.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
We were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

You said it's not going to be a dope halftime.
I think Kendrick Lamar deserved his Grammys.
I think that song's great.
I think it's a cultural anthem.
I think it's the best discrack of all time.
My theory on Kendrick Lamar is, does your mom know Kendrick Lamar?
Yes, because of us.
But I'm saying most parents, like if you ask the average,
mom or dad. It's the mom test. It's the mom test. Like your mom knows who Beyonce is or Lady Gaga
or, you know, Bruno Mars. I'll tell you who I don't like Stephen, that Bianca sensory Kanye's wife.
So anyway. And I don't like that chapelroon. She looks like a damn clown. Exactly. I'm Kavino.

Things that made you go, hmm.
Let's go, baby.
Things that make you go.
Hmm.
Things that make you go.
Hmm.
Super Bowl week edition.
Of course, there's some NBA questions as well.
The Luca AD trade made all of us.
go, hmm, but I got one to kick it off.
All throughout the week, you're going to hear about the Super Bowl.
Lots of interviews, lots of fun.
On our show, we'll be talking about all the parties, all the events.
Tonight we're going to opening night, they call it.
So we'll be going to opening night at Caesar Superdome.
We'll come back with tons of stories.
But all throughout the week, you're going to hear everybody saying,
man, I'll tell you what, you can't bet against my homes.
You can't bet against my homes.
So the first thing that makes me saying to that is, well, how do you stop Sequin Barclay?
And we're going to ask everybody that brings that up.
Anybody that picks the Chiefs to win, okay, how do you stop Sequin?
Because it can't be both.
I told you, I'm not betting on this game.
It can't be both.
It's someone here's going to win.
So that right there, just when we think about the game coming up, makes me say, hmm.
And I don't think enough people are talking about that.
All right.
Things that made you go, hmm?
Yeah.
Of course I got NFL ones.
Of course I got Luca ones, NBA ones.
I got a couple Grammy ones, if you watched last night.
Have we officially forgiven Will Smith?
No.
Not me.
He came on stage, had a pretty sweet-looking suit on.
I actually blame him for his son's stupid outfit last night.
But I like him even less now.
I thought Will look good.
And he sort of led the whole Quincy Jones tribute.
I'll tell you what maybe he.
You go, hmm, Stevie Wonder singing, we are the world.
And I'm thinking what?
Lionel Richie got better plans tonight?
Where was Lionel Richie?
You tell me Cindy Lopper or Willie Nelson couldn't have come out and done some type of cool tribute to Quincy Jones together?
You think Willie Nelson was to hang around with Chapo Roan?
There comes a time when you need a head.
He's got, no, it's as God is shown us by turning.
Turning Stone to Bread.
That was Willie.
So.
Be honest, really quick, Covino.
You were there in the same room with Jaden Smith wearing that ridiculous outfit.
I'd be looking for my skeletal figure.
Would you have pushed him by his castle head?
Yeah.
Because you know that would have got him off balance.
I'd be looking for my he-man action figures because he had Castle Grey Skull.
If you didn't see it because I get it, you have better things to do.
He wore a castle on his head.
It's the dumbest thing I've ever seen.
Please look up the picture.
Imagine figuring out where you're sitting.
But in my mind, I would have pushed him.
Imagine if you found your way to the Grammys and you had to sit behind them?
Yeah, it's ridiculous.
That made me say,
Hey, guy with the house on your head.
Sit down.
You know what else makes me say,
when we touched on it already again?
There's so many Super Bowl storylines,
but again, you can't avoid that trade that happened over the weekend.
It's like, how does Luca deal with $117 million lost
because of that max deal he's no longer a part of?
I get it.
It's a win for the Mavericks to escape it,
but also a win for the Lakers to avoid any of that, right?
get a discount.
To get a discounted rate of $100 million or whatever.
When they give them a big deal, yeah.
So how do you swallow that?
Plus more taxes in L.A.
There's something gross about it, right?
You can only imagine this lights more of a fire for Luca because there's got to be a sense of bitterness here.
Like, man, I get it.
It's business, but that hurts.
Speaking of contracts, can I give you one more and then we'll take your feedback when we come back?
Five days till spring training.
Is Pete Alonzo going to get this done with the Mets?
Five days.
What is going on?
Wild story.
It is. Lanzo fatigue.
Yep. No, but it's a big story.
I have it, and I'm a Mets fan.
All right, hey, we got more.
Kavino and Rich.
We are live from Meteor Roe, New Orleans, Super Bowl, can't wait.
Chiefs, Eagles, let's go.
We got more next right here.
