We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and
friends on the ice.

Here's something that should not be as complicated as it is, getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is, getting a new one put up in its
place.
I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things.
As I was watching these statues come down, I was thinking about what it meant that I grew up in a
majority black city in which there were more homages to enslavers than there were to enslave people.

That is not the look of an innocent man. Is everyone lying to me about who they are?

By the way, I'm seeing the turning point of the Super Bowl.
You know, you think about when did it go from like,
ooh, can Mahomes make a sweet comeback to, you know, this game stinks and it's over?
With a minute 40 left in the half when Philly was up 17-0 and you're like,
all right, they got a minute 40-something.
They get a field goal that it's 173, two-score game.
They get the ball or even if Mahomes scores a touchdown, it's a 10-point game.
When he threw that, when he threw that interstern,
reception and then Philly scored like a play later or so when it was 24-0.
That was it.
That was the, to me, that's when you're like, oh, this is not happening.
How about when Hopkins dropped that wide open pass and he had all that green in front of them?
Oh, is that when Chris Jones like fell to his knees?
Yes.
And I think all Chiefs fans must have felt like that.
Anyone who gambled on the Chiefs must have felt like that.
And their body language after that, it was like they were done.
How about this?
You know what made me say, hmm?
How Jalen Hertz won in grand fashion.
because Sequin Barclay wasn't much of an impact player during the game.
What do you have?
50-something yards?
Yeah, he had 40-receiving.
Two yards of carry.
Yeah.
So he wasn't much of a factor here.
And Jalen Hertz was able to step up, make some great plays, and really dominate the game.
So, you know, props to him.
And happy birthday to Sequin and DeGine.
I got two more quickie things that may be going, hmm, and we'll get to your feedback.
I just saw the Gatorade dump again.
I think it's a top five Gatorade Dump of all time.
You know what?
They nailed it.
There was no miss.
It was like,
Siriana got blasted.
Headphones flew off his head.
His hood came up over his head and then kind of sat there and it looked cool.
That was good.
It was a very clear.
And they did a little like maneuver to get there that we all saw.
Because they did it early.
Yeah.
He wasn't suspecting it.
You're right.
They did a little sneak around.
Then you saw it was Atre Brown?
Right?
he was part of it.
That was the Devante Smith.
I'm forgetting.
They did a...
Oh, I think Slay was part of it.
They did a quick little sneak around.
And it was a good one.
And the other observation was,
did you hear...
If you feel like you need a little Monday...
A Monday cry?
Did you hear the voicemail,
the message that Sequan's daughter
left him before the game?
If you got kids, especially a daughter,
you might cry after you listen to this.
You would always love you and your mother would always love you and your mother and father would always love you
I hope you.
Please so much, Daddy, for taking care of me.
Big blessings.
I love you, Daddy.
Why don't have to add that drone behind that?
I know.
I thought that was you playing organ underneath of it, Rich.
I was Rich trying to play like sentimental music.
Make it a full house moment.
The only thing that makes me want to cry about that is the fact that it eventually turns into them rolling their eyes.
at you when they're teenagers.
So yeah, that makes me want to cry.
But no, speaking of kids, that was a sentimental moment,
but you already mentioned it, Siriani's kid and Bradley Cooper's kid.
I was impressed that they knew how to spell eagles.
And yet their own mayor did not know how to spell eagles.
So I thought that was kind of, made me say, hmm.
For the first time ever in my life, I tried,
I attempted to watch a Super Bowl with a toddler running around.
Oh, yeah.
Lord send help.
Yeah, yeah.
Leave them in the kitty room.
Keep them at the kitty table.
Let's go to your feedback.
Things that made you go,
whether it's commercials, halftime, the game.
Let's start with Ryan in Seattle.
What's up, Ryan?
Hopkins drop and the not getting three points before halftime.
But one play that I haven't heard talked about yet,
and I'm not a Chiefs hater or a Kelsey hater,
but I think it was early third quarter.
I thought it wasn't over yet.
And then Kelsey had that, it was about third and,
14. Kelsey got about 10 yards and then he didn't fight for the four more yards. Do you guys remember that play?
Yeah, it's a play where there are times where Kelsey would like somehow found the way. But it wasn't their day, man. It's just again I said it. He came in with a really bold outfit. I don't know if you saw that.
You know, like a disco star. He looked like he was, you know, in a 70s throwback sort of shaft kind of mode. He had on some 70s gear. It looked like with some cool shade.
Look like a Saturday night live skit. Yeah. When you roll in.
like that, you got to play big.
I feel like it didn't match to vibe.
So just was
more embarrassing.
Not a lot of Taylor Swift shots either.
I made me say, NFL Network, replaying
the game now. Take a look at the lower
third. Is it clean or
too elementary? Like when you look at it
it, it's not blocking much of the game
at all. And I think, you know, sometimes the graphics
get a bit, you know, intrusive where
it's taken up like, you know, a portion of the screen.
I like it. Simple.
It's clean. I like it. No complaints.
for me. What was the over-under-on
shots to Taylor Swift? Well, the under-hit because I feel like
I was to say, because we saw her just in the beginning.
She got booed and that was it. And what
did they catch her saying? Lippro? Like, what is
happening? Something like that. What's going on?
What's going on? Yeah, after the booze.
Yeah. Well, yeah, they're booing you because you're dating a chief.
Yeah. And it was 75% Eagles fans,
I don't know, people say. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
We knew that because of opening night.
Yeah, we were there all week and Danny. Danny Point out he goes,
Yo, look up.
Everyone in that Superdome, with the exception of a couple cheese fan,
there was a lot of green.
A lot of green.
They showed up.
And they were loud, too.
And you remember, this is the same fan base that, you know,
decades ago through snowballs at Santa Claus.
They'll never live it down, huh?
They're going to boo Taylor Swift.
That's just, that's totally on part for them.
No doubt.
So here's my question based off of everything we saw yesterday.
We talked about the halftime show.
We talked about the commercials.
We covered it all like everyone else has.
Jalen Hertz, when you went into this postseason,
storylines will Mahomes three Pete.
Josh Allen, MVP, Haley Steinfeld, engaged.
Is this his year that the Bills Mafia finally get one?
Lamar Jackson, having one of the best runs of quarterback ever had.
Was this year he's going to get over the hump?
The Lions, 15 and 2, is Campbell take him all the way.
Minnesota with
San Donald?
Like the Eagles are like the sixth
storyline.
And I think because of that, they were like
under the radar
so much of the season.
Sequin was a big storyline.
Sequin was a big story line.
Yeah, but I mean, you was just, you knew they were a solid
team and there was
not a lot of drama around them. They were just
consistently solid. And then Jaden
Daniels emerging. I really think that
there was a sense of the
Eagles for as big of a market team they
I think they were really sort of under the radar.
So now you've got to ask yourself, when everyone talks about the greats and who's the elite quarterbacks, that eye rolling conversation, who's elite?
Guess who doesn't have a Super Bowl?
Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow.
Oh, and mind you, Jalen Hertz has been at two of them.
Yeah, so now you guys.
At what, 26?
You got to say to yourself, well, where does Jalen Hertz fit into the conversation?
If he's been to two Super Bowls and he won one of them.
He's in the conversation.
If he wasn't before, now he is.
and he's got a win where they don't.
And he beat what we were calling the next goat.
So major bragging rights for the guy.
That's how you get in the conversation.
If you're judged on winning and losing,
we had this conversation in the beginning of the season.
Remember we named all the young quarterbacks in the league
and we're like, you think they'll win one?
And we're like, well, guess what?
We just named like 20 young quarterbacks.
Maybe four of them will win one.
Mark Jalen Hurtsdown.
I don't think anybody was in unison
saying that they thought Hertz was going to.
to win one and now there were topics on TV today is this the start of a new dynasty in the
NFL will the Eagles do it again and honestly except and I got to give our show props we goof on
ourselves all the time when we're wrong and that's often the case more than being right but all the
way back to the weekend prior when we were in Vegas for the Benavitas fight we were talking about
Jaylon Hertz and who has more motivation and you guys were arguing about it a lot and that kicked
off the week in New Orleans as well.
Yeah.
Because the storylines were Mahomes, Mahomes, Mahomes,
Chiefs, Three Pete.
And we talked about that, Rich.
Remember because you were saying,
hey, man, it's history, it's history.
And Covino's argument was, well,
the Eagles are hungrier.
Remember Hertz sitting at his locker room,
emotional, saying, I dropped the ball
in that last Super Bowl.
I'm going to be back.
I'm going to have revenge.
And we said that we thought the Eagles
had a lot to play for, especially Hertz.
We were not hearing that.
We weren't hearing the
Jalen Hertz storyline as much as I thought
we would. At all. And then today,
suddenly this morning, it's
Jalen Hertz as the headline. And of course,
he should because he's the MVP.
But how many of these media dudes
pivoted so quickly when they were
slobbering all over Mahomes the past
couple of weeks? They absolutely were.
So right about that.
Can we play a
post-NFL season
round of, do you
think they'll ever win?
Sure. Because we got Jalen Hertz
winning one.
Monty, I want you in on this.
Okay.
Because we did this at the beginning of the season, and everyone's like, oh, yeah, oh, yeah.
The answer was yes to too many, and you've got to remind yourself,
dynasties happen, guys win more than ones.
You know, there's been legends like Dan Marino that walked away with zero, right?
I mean, let's start, and I'll name some people, you tell me, will they ever win a Super Bowl?
Ever.
Okay.
Career.
Will they everyone?
Because you saw a guy like Philip Rivers, right?
Like whole season, whole career.
Josh Allen.
I've changed my stance on him.
You think he'll never win?
Never.
They're the quintessential, like, really great, really good, never get there kind of team.
Damn.
You would think, though, because he's so great.
I get it.
I thought he was done and he changed my mind to yes.
Okay.
Danny J.
I think he would have gave the Eagles a better game.
I agree with you there.
Absolutely.
I do think Alan's going to get one Super Bowl ring.
At some point?
Yeah.
Yes.
Sam, Spot.
Anyone?
I agree.
Yeah.
I'll say, yeah, just because he's athletic enough and they're, but it's like when you're
in the AFC and you have to get rid of the Chiefs just to get to the Super Bowl to then beat
the NFC team, that's actually harder to do than being the NFC team just getting one shot
against the Chiefs and then your Super Bowl check.
But didn't we all think that this was the year for them to do it and they didn't?
I hate to say it.
I'm a Kavino.
Like how many of those opportunities?
Yeah, they had a great window to do it this year.
We actually heard in the preseason, oh, the bills.
are taking a step back.
Remember, there was a narrative of that going on.
Yeah, that was.
That was.
And they surprised a lot of people
with how great of a season they have.
I got one for you. Ready?
Well, hold on.
Let's keep this in mind.
As he gets older, he's going to have to adjust his game.
He can't be reckless like that forever either.
So also matters.
He's a big boy, though.
Can he make those adjustments?
All right.
Joe Burrow.
Uh, yes.
I think.
Because they were there and they played well.
I think they'll get back.
I think he's a guy that could carry a team
through the postseason.
if he's hot and he has that team though
that's the thing
ownership the team they put around
him question whether he can
do it he can do it
but it's a team sport right
Lamar Jackson
yes
there will be a year
he gets over the hump what do you think of
yes I think so
man yes if there if there is a
god yeah he has to win
he's too good to not win one
plus they got Derek Henry
if they continue to build around him
And this team, yeah, I think they could do it.
The funny part is, we keep thinking of the same big guys, right?
Right.
But then as they get older, the Bo Nix's of the world.
The Jane and Daniel.
But are you talking about the AFC specifically?
Yeah, the CK Strouds of the world.
There's going to be other guys that start.
The world Levices of the world.
That's right.
It's cute.
You know, the Chidor Sanders.
The Drake Mays of the world.
The Drake Mays.
Yeah, so you never know.
How about this one?
Jordan Love in Green Bay.
I'm going to say
As a Packer fan, I'm going to say no.
Wow.
Yeah.
I think he's good.
It's too early, so I'm saying no.
If you're a fan, you're supposed to say yes.
But I'm being, I look at him and I'm like out of Fav Rogers and love,
and I haven't seen enough of him yet.
Not a big sample size.
Not a big enough sample size.
I just feel like it's not going to happen.
And not to name drop, but we talked to Drew Breeze about all these young quarterbacks on Radio Row.
Drew Breeze, my boy.
We talked to him last week, and he was just,
going on and on about how much great talent there is in the quarterback position.
So, you know, it is interesting to think about that.
Not everybody's going to win one.
Speaking of your boy, Drew Brees, he spoke highly of Jaden Daniels.
Was this year the, oh, my God, shocking.
Like, they surprised us, but back to, like, you know, good team.
But will Jaden Daniels and the commanders win a Super Bowl.
Bro, he's so poised.
He's so poised that I think he has a real chance.
I actually don't even see a sophomore slum coming from him.
But you know what you got to ask yourself,
a guy that's a quarterback in the NFL usually has a good 10-ish years.
Right.
So that means all these other people.
Somehow you're fitting in a commander's Super Bowl win.
Yeah, and we spoke the same way about CJ Stroud too,
so you got to throw him in the conversation.
There's a lot of guys in the waiting line, right?
There's a lot of talent.
So much talent.
Can I compare it to the corniest thing you'll ever.
hear me say.
It's like, you ever watch The Bachelor, and he's got like 20 hot chicks?
And it's like, yeah, some hot chicks just go home and never get the rose.
Some of these quarterbacks.
That's the lamest analogy, but so good at the same time.
Yeah, it's like some got, yo, in my hometown on the hottest chick, well, guess what?
You're not getting a rose on the Bachelor.
I'm sorry.
Sorry, Jessica.
No, you're right.
It's so, you know.
And by the way, a new episode tonight.
Yes, a new episode tonight.
You know what?
I need something to help me get over the Super Bowl Blues.
I'm too.
I haven't started the season.
or too intimidated.
That's like eight hours of catching up
because there's too much bachelor.
Richard Davis really quick.
I got a name for you.
Brock Purdy.
Yes.
You think he's going to win a Super Bowl?
That was quick. That's speaking like a true fan.
He didn't even think about it.
Speaking like a true fan.
By the way, we got a big scoop over this past Super Bowl week.
We had the most random combo of Seal, the singer, the artist Seal and Debo Samuel.
And Debo spoke so highly.
Wait, seal the spokesman for the see.
Mahabla.
Last.
Same guy.
I thought you were talking about Flex Seal.
No, but I promise you.
You ever see Seal Flex, though?
Not Phil Swift, the inventor of Flex Shield, Sam.
The singer Seal, we had him and Debo Samuel on the show.
And we saw firsthand, and you heard firsthand, that Debo had nothing but wonderful things to say about playing with Brock Purdy.
So that's coming from a guy that's probably never going to play with him again.
The fact that he says he wants to trade, you know, from hearing this on Fox Sports Radio that had nothing.
to do with the quarterback situation or what he thought of Brock because he seemed to really,
really admire him.
He talked about his poise.
Yeah.
Talked about like he's the guy.
Remember he even defended him when you said they got lucky with him?
He's, you know, he was really quick to defend them.
He talked about his command in the huddle and how amazing of a leader he is.
Yeah, he went on.
He was gushing, basically, over Brock Purdy.
So the fact that he requested a trade goes to show you that he doesn't like where the team
direction is going and where the leadership is, aside from quarterback situation,
So based on that, Rich, I think Brock Purdy's not in a good situation.
Has it dawned on anyone in this room that I may have thrown the last pass to Debo Samuel as a 49er?
Dubo to Debo goes down in history.
Duibo to Debo.
That was good.
Thank you.
Did you write that ahead of time?
That was good.
He worked all weekend on that.
That was good.
I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you go to Kavino and Rich on Instagram, I threw him a pass for good luck.
I saw it.
And it dawned on me.
they're like, oh my God, he might not even be on the team.
Did I throw the last tutty?
Oh, well.
You may have.
Well, again, to answer your question, Brock Purdy, though, to me, it just shows that
something's not stirring the Kool-Aid or something's not right in San Francisco.
Is it your head coach, Rich?
Right.
Like, why would he want to?
Is it your general manager?
Who's rubbing Debo the wrong way?
Yeah, I mean, because, you know, listen, for every great organization, right,
there's someone unhappy.
You can talk about, like, Fox Sports Radio.
I really do feel like we have great leadership.
But there's going to be, I'm sure there's one or two hosts that are like,
unhappy the matter what you're not going to have 53 guys unhappy just sucks that one of those
unhappy are your stars um let me give you two more names then we'll take your feedback stars stars stars
stars stars stars stars stars will jack prescott everyone in the super ball no i don't think so not as
long as jera who's alive yeah that's true and by the way i would never root against any of these
people these are all great stories if they were to win but no i don't think so no add curtains to the
No.
Only if they had curtains.
That's good.
That damn son keeps getting in my eyes.
Yeah, no.
Once they had courage.
She said, shut up about the sun.
I'm a monkey fan.
Shut up about the sun.
Who else you got, Rich?
Caleb Williams.
Shut up about the sun.
Too soon to tell with Caleb.
You can't make that assessment yet.
All right, then how about, well, he said C.J. Stroud.
Let me see.
Kyler Murray, we say no way.
Yeah.
No.
I haven't felt, yeah.
I don't think so.
No.
But then again, you didn't think the Eagles would be back so soon either.
Are some of these younger names going to be given enough time to grow?
Or are they going to be in and out like most?
How about the quarterback of Monzi's team, Justin Herbert?
Yeah, Justin Herbert.
Who?
Yeah.
How do you beat him out?
I want to say, yes, I think with the coach.
I see we have a real chance.
I think Harbaugh will lead him.
But back to Rich's analogy.
Not everybody gets a rose.
No, you're right.
That's what's crazy.
The thought is like, yeah, most of these quarterbacks will retire without one.
Right.
Wow.
Justin Herbert.
He gets a hometown date, but it's after that he's going home.
He gets a hometown date.
He's like, he'll make the playoffs.
He'll go on some runs.
But, you know, he's not going to the fantasy suites.
I can't wait to show you that he goes to the fantasy suites.
You can say, you know, based on that combo, man,
it really does put Jalen Hertz in perspective because he's got something.
that none of those dudes have.
It's a major any beat
Mahomes to do it, so major props to him.
I've got bad news too for all
these other quarterbacks waiting in line.
Guess who's won five at the last eight
Super Bowls, the Eagles and the Chiefs?
So it's like there's just a little
room to get in there.
Yeah, and you know what? Burrow, Allen,
Lamar, Love, Purdy, Dak,
Jaden, Daniel, C.J. Strad,
Kyler, Murray.
And then, I'm not even naming like
the, you know, like the Caleb Williams
of the world and Justin Herbert and
Trevor Lawrence. Do we just say he's done
on it? Do we assume that that's just a done
story? Not on that team. Yeah.
So we shall see. I see Jaden Daniels
go in the distance. Yeah.
I feel like a lot of the legends we spoke to last week
had nothing but great things to say about him.
As older leaders
looking at a younger player,
like he seems to get it for bringing such a young
age, so I think he will grow.
Danny, I'm sorry
I haven't mentioned one raider.
Well, they don't have their franchise.
quarterback yet. It may be Shador.
We got a couple of
Aaron Rogers for you know. Yeah, Cam Ward.
It could be Tom Brady. Sanders.
DART. We have a handful of really good
quarterbacks coming out of this next draft.
Well, hey, something to think about
when you realize and you put in perspective
what Jalen Hertz really
did. He put himself
in a different category now because you
think everyone's going to get their moment.
If he didn't do it yesterday, that would have been 0 for 2
and to think that they would get back again
just seems so difficult.
So, congrats to the Eagles.
Just don't hurt yourself during parades.
By the way, you know, it's an interesting thought.
Think about this next.
I heard Moncie say they announced that the parade's going to be on Valentine's Day.
Happy Valentine's puppy.
Do you think that's going to cost some relationship strife in Philadelphia?
No.
No.
I would say a lot of, yeah.
And you love the Eagles?
You could go to the parade and then do your Valentine's Day after?
No, but a lot of, like, supporting girlfriends and love birds, they love the Eagles so much.
They'll do it together.
The lovebirds love birds.
Yeah.
Yeah.
No, but it's true.
Let's put that.
Couples will go out together and tear down street lights together.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What do you want to do on Valentine's Day?
Let's get on rest of it.
Let's slide down.
That's a rimshod.
Let's slide down lubed up telephone poles.
Jump in the scookle.
All right.
Well, hey, last night, as we watched the big game and all the ads, we talked about a lot of our favorites.
And you know what one felt truly emotional?
Very heartfelt.
Rockets take me home, country road, performed by different voices from across America.
Then they went to the stadium afterwards and everyone's singing along.
Yeah, well, there's a lot of goofy commercials.
And then this one comes on and it hits right here.
And Dakota Sohn hits you right in a heart because it reminds us that there once was an American dream.
Why my family came to this country to own a little something.
I'm going to have my own bedroom someday.
Yeah, no, I own some property.
Something that's your own.
Something to be proud of, the American dream.
And it's unfortunate, but there's a lot of young people that don't think that's a possibility nowadays.
Because that's how it seems.
But it's really cool that Rocket Mortgage is trying to change that perception.
So major props to them.
And, you know, when they pan to the stadium, I was singing, it was very emotional.
Yeah, they came back for a commercial, and Kevin Burkhart, it's like, as everyone sings along to take me home, country road.
Well, you know, Irish?
Because it is sad to think that, I mean, for us growing up, that was the American dream, right?
But somewhere along the lines, it kind of became less of a reality.
That alone is sad.
So the fact that they're trying to make that a thing again and they're bringing it back, that's awesome.
So there you go.
Props to Rocket.
Take me home.
Country Road.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast.
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how did we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

and we're live from the
Tyraq.com studio. Rockets
own the dream ad with Take Me Home
Country Roads. One of the most memorable
parts of the night. Very powerful
message that
we all want to be homeowners. So let's make that
dream come true with the help of
Rocket because we all deserve
a shot at the American Dream.
Rocket? I'm on
a rocket. No, it's a big deal.
So props to
them. We talked a lot about
the Super Bowl. We'll wrap it up
your phone calls, all your observations.
I mean, I appreciate the feedback.
It was a long season.
Lots of takeaways.
And we'll wrap it up with our calls.
87799 on Fox.
Matt, we'll start with you in Seattle.
Hey, buddy.
Hey, how you guys doing?
We're good, man.
You know what I was thinking, Matt?
The whole time we're watching last night that, you know,
people had Chief's fatigue, and you can only think.
No, Chiefs had Chief fatigue.
Everyone had Chiefs fatigue.
No energy yesterday.
You know, we all had Chiefs fatigue.
Chief's fatigue and you don't you had to think like man Buffalo or Baltimore would have put up such a
better fight. Yeah. The matchup wise. Yeah, I think so too. I agree. I mean, I was the I was the only
one in the room. I kind of wanted the Chiefs to win. I was looking for that three Pete just to see. But
it was pretty evident that they were done by half time or at least by the time they came out in the
second half and they couldn't do anything. Yeah, for the record, anyone new to our show, I would have been
okay seeing a 3P witnessing
history wouldn't have bothered me.
We have no horse and race, so I wouldn't have hated that.
But I was shocked.
That was not the outcome I thought.
I never thought that the Eagles were
going to clobber the Chiefs.
Well, knowing that the Chiefs have
been down by double digits
in every Super Bowl they've been in with Mahomes,
you had a sense of like, well,
I'm not counting Mahomes out until
blank.
Two moments stand out for me.
You tell me. Second quarter,
With a minute and a half left, we mentioned that before,
they're down 17-0.
And you're like, all right, if they could put together something,
less than two minutes, 17-3, even, 17-7,
little Mahomes magic.
And that's when he threw the pick.
And then it was 24-0.
Yeah.
That or, all right, second half, 24-0,
chiefs get the ball to start.
And you're like, all right, if they do a quick tutty right here,
then it's the two-score game.
And one of those two moments had to be it.
When they failed them both, he knew it was done.
Brady in Texas. What's up?
Brady.
Yep, sorry about that on the line.
Hey, buddy.
You guys hear me?
Yeah, what's up in?
I'm a Cowboys fan, so I get a little bit of a unique take on the Super Bowl.
I was cheering hard for the Eagles.
And I think if I speak for most football fans, I played football too.
And, man, there's no secret that the Chiefs, you know, you can go back and forth about all the calls and the Patrick Mahomes.
flops and all that kind of stuff.
And man, even as a Cowboys fan watching that game, it was exactly what I wanted to see.
Defense heavy, slapping around the favorite.
And I loved it.
I know that a lot of people are Chiefs fans and I love to see Patrick Mahomes win.
And, man, it was everything I wanted to see out of a Super Bowl, even though it was a blowout.
It was a reminder of the obvious, but it was a reminder that the linemen are just so important to the game.
You know, they don't get the glory.
but the defensive and offensive line of the Eagles was just so much more dominant than Kansas
cities and it was so evident you had Mahalm's scrambling around running around like an idiot
all time he couldn't do anything so it's you know a reminder of how important that is
Bobby in Michigan hey Bobby hey Bob hey guys I just want to say that that game last night
reminded me of how spoiled we've been in the last 25 years
with all these close Super Bowls and exciting finishes.
And the other thing I took from that game was a bad flashback from being a kid,
because we're all about the same age here,
when I used to play Tecmo Bowl with my brother,
and he would look over my shoulder and pick my play.
Did that offensive line not look like an offensive line last night
because it looked like they picked their play every single time?
That's a great analogy.
You know, when you would pick the same play,
when it was Old School Tecmo Bowl,
There were four plays.
If you pick the same play as your opponent, you stop them automatically.
Like, there was no chance.
Yeah, that was very well said.
I think a lot of us thought about that.
Down!
Who else do we got?
Robert in Texas.
Robert, you're on the Kavino and Rich Show Fox Sports Radio live from L.A.
Back in L.A.
What's up, man?
Hey, good evening, gentlemen.
How are you?
We're good.
Hey, listen, other than being a blowout, did you guys, one thing that,
among the commercial
and the thing, did you guys
happen after the halftime show?
Check out the Fox tribute
to Jimmy Johnson
and his life story.
Did you guys see that?
Didn't.
That was on after the Super Bowl?
No, no.
It was right after the halftime show,
but before the teams even came out
to, you know, they were just barely
come out in the field.
And Fox did, you know, it was like a
four-minute tribute that showed
Jimmy and his
high school days
even Pop Warner
They showed them as a little child
grown up playing football
And then the University of Miami
And all his accolades
That he achieved there in Miami
And then we went to Dallas
And this
They did such a heart felt
On a thing I'm going
Oh my God
Well now I'm mad I missed it
I must have my head in a pantry
Trying to battle
Whether or not I should eat some cookies or not
I'm going to have to look that
up on YouTube. I'm going to have to go back and watch this now.
Dan had mentioned that and I missed it too, that there was
like kind of a Jimmy Johnson farewell
send off. Oh man. You know,
I'm not even joking. I was probably
that's when you take a quick bathroom
break or, you know, you're
trying to get a quick
bite or something. I might have missed it.
You know, there's a sentiment
that we had been getting
spoiled. If you're a kid of the
80s or 90s, which I think
most people here are, if you were born
roughly around 1980, so you're
childhood was all the Super Bowls in the 80s or 90s?
If not, you definitely hated the halftime show yesterday.
Born before that, 90% chance.
You're like, who's this?
Born before that, you hated every second.
I want to take you back to our childhood.
Let's start with the run.
There was a run of consecutive blowouts that weren't even fun.
So our parents, when they were having Super Bowl parties with their friends,
let's start in 84.
84?
Raiders killed the Redskins.
next year, the Niners
killed the dolphins, bears killed the
Patriots, then the Giants, Redskins,
they both killed the Broncos.
Then there was one close game.
Remember Montana with the drive?
What made Montana with the drive against the Bengals
so special was that you're coming off of like
years and years of crappy Super Bowls.
And then after that, you went back to Montana
killing the Broncos and the bills
getting beat year after year.
There was one close one, which made the
miss field goal by Scott Norwood
even more important. There were two
good Super Bowls within a
20 year span of our childhood
and then you hit a point where every
year the Super Bowl was like really good
or some crazy memorable
moment right like a
Tyree moment but not only that
that made the difference
or crazy Julian Edelman
catchers there was really nothing
like crazy that happened was Marcia
Lynch or you know
the Tennessee Titans reaching
for the end zone on the final play
or you know
Vinatari with a field goal that would win the game.
Like Malcolm Butler with a sweet interception.
Yeah, like these are the moments.
We forget that sometimes.
Santonia Holmes with a touchdown catch.
Like a lot of big ones.
So we were spoiled.
We were due for a stinker and we got it.
And speaking of stinkers, Monsi Bolognaos.
Whoa.
That's like a little stinker?
Thank you for that.
That's fine.
I'll take it.
All right.
The Eagles are going to have their parade on Friday.
Yes, on Valentine's Day was announced today.
Luca Donchich is going to make his Lakers debut.
I'm calling it because apparently every single seat has a Laker 77 shirt on it.
So if you're going to the game, you're getting your first Luca shirt.
Oh, that's sweet.
Yes, it is.
Maverick star at Kyrie Irving is going to replace his new teammate Anthony Davis in the All-Star game on Sunday.
Trey Young of the Hawks is replacing Janice Anta Tocompo in that game.
Tiger Woods originally was going to play in the Genesis Invitational.
He's on social media.
He's not.
He's still processing his mother's death.
And in baseball, we know what logos, the inductees that are going to be, you know, having in the
of Fame. No surprise. C.C. C.C. Sabathia is going to be a Yankee logo, of course. Billy Wagner
is going to have the Astros. Ittiro Suzuki is going to have the Mariners. And Dave Parker is
going to have the pirates. Dick Allen will have the Phillies. Back to you guys. Thank you,
Balanos. All right. Now, we do have to talk a little NBA coming up because Danny G, you know our
theory. Once the Super Bowl ends, we shift our focus to the NBA. And he's not fat. Bring him back.
Let me tell you, what's so funny is that there was a trade that got rescinded.
When was the last time we saw something of that magnitude?
When Chris Paul was not allowed to go to the Lakers.
That one, yeah.
But that's a minute now.
That's been a minute.
I mean, it's still rare that it happens like that.
So we'll talk a little MBA and Anthony Davis hurt already.
So could they trade them back in?
Don't they have that L.A. Lemon Law, right, if you get a bad car?
Oh, yeah.
You can trade it back in?
Can they do that?
No.
So, hey, we got more.

Remember, Rockets Own the Dream ad with Take Me Home Country Roads
was one of the highlights of the night,
one of the most powerful moments.
There was a lot of, you know, goofy, gimmicky commercials.
That one hits you right in the heart.
because everybody wants the American dream of owning a home,
and they're reminding you that it's possible.
So you deserve that shot.
Thanks again to Rock it for reminding us.
Kind of a big deal.
By the way, Sam, you played number one by Nellie,
which ironically is one of his few songs that did not go to number one in the 2000s,
but it's a good song.
And shoutouts to the Eagles and Jalen Hertz,
who is now a champion, man.
That to me is something that changes the narrative of a lot of the young generation.
to quarterbacks.
It's Jalen's now been to 2-1-1.
That's, can I give you this analogy?
It's one we've used over and over again, Rich,
but I have to do it one more time.
It's fitting.
It's like when Tyson fought Douglas,
and you think that Tyson's still going to come back,
Tyson being the Chiefs here.
You still think they're going to come back.
They're going to come back.
But in reality, Tyson just got his ass whoop the entire game.
And that's what the Eagles did to the Chiefs.
They just whooped their ass the entire game, dude.
who just too powerful, too dominant, and Mahomes had no answers.
And after an extensive halftime, you heard it, you saw it.
They made no adjustments that were impactful whatsoever.
They clobbered them, clobbered them.
So Jalen Hurts didn't just win.
He dominated that game.
Let's say what's up to Big Bert in Georgia.
He had some thoughts on the halftime show.
After today, we move forward because there's so much other stuff, NBA, baseball.
And think about all the offseason NFL stuff we're going to get into.
We haven't even touched on Aaron.
Rogers today because we're right out of time.
Aaron Rogers no longer
moving forward with the jets. So you got to ask
yourself, there's a lot of people. Where does
that go now? Yeah, up in the air.
Cooper Cup, Debo, Samuel.
So many big names out there. You're like,
well, what's going to happen to them? And the draft will
be here before you know it. Big Bart, what's up,
man? Hey, I just want to tell you,
you love Kevj Kumar. He played above
the level of this crowd. It's like
a fast and furious friend got sent
being John Malkovich.
Or like you want to see different
strokes but it turned out it was that special
episode where things happened to Dudley and you're like
ah! You know.
That's a great analogy.
This is not your...
Yeah, but not everyone expected to see Dudley
at the bike show. That's what he's saying.
Deeper meanings to a lot of what was going on
and I think we can all agree for
a big mass crowd like the Super Bowl.
You probably need something simple.
Yeah, but overall, like I said, it was interesting
for sure. Yeah, I liked it. You know what I do find
funny though? How people, I don't know if they're
faking it or not. I just
I just don't have the energy to care as much as other people I see on social media.
Like, you scroll through social media, and I feel like people are just so mad about a lot of things.
And I'm like, all right, like, are you really that mad about the halftime?
So, Rich, are you saying you wouldn't have joined that large pregame protest outside American Airlines Center Saturday?
He's not fat.
Bring him back.
He's not fat.
The Mabst fans really mad about, you know, Luca leaving.
Because Luca left and now AD's hurt.
Yeah.
What a nightmare.
A lot of the complaints from the unhappy match chance
or why would we trade our future and our franchise guy
for a 31-year-old who's hurt all the time.
He bawled out first half of the game in the beginning of the third quarter,
26.16 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocks in 31 minutes,
and then lower body injury took him out in the third quarter.
And one strained oblique or whatever it was.
No, someone stabbed, someone on the Anthony Davis voodoo doll.
Oh, that's what happened?
No, seriously.
Maybe he over-extended himself because it was such an impactful important moment for him.
And he already had that ab strain, so his body could have been overcompensating.
He has a lot to prove.
He has been very vocal about he knows what Luca meant to that organization,
but he's going to bring his own vibe and his own domination.
So a lot on the line, a lot to bring.
And now he's hurt for maybe up for a month.
Yeah, could drag to a month.
That is insult to injury, man.
Pun intended.
That's just misery for the Mavericks.
And then the rescinded trade.
of Mark Williams. You referred to that earlier, Rich. Of course, the Lakers thought they had their center,
their big guy for right now. And kind of a juicy story came out from Bleacher Report this morning saying
that Luca's team was the one behind wanting Williams. Like Polinka. Oh, wow.
Worked with Lucas team immediately. And that was who Luca pinpointed as the center that he wanted to
play with because he loves guys that can lob and play the pick and roll with. Can they still get Dwight Howard?
right and then the story was oh my god
LeBron's team how are they going to feel about this
because LeBron's been asking for different guys forever
but that's the weakest because now they both have to go back
to her former team that's like going back
just kidding Dalton
I don't know just going back to an X

just kidding connect we love you

getting a racist statue removed.
And here's something that should be a whole lot easier than it is,

I'm Akela Hughes, and Rebel Spirit Season 2 is about both of those things.
