Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Tired and sick.
Starting point is 00:00:26 Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
Starting point is 00:00:43 help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends
Starting point is 00:00:59 on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school.
Starting point is 00:01:13 Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, and on my new podcast, How Hard Can It Be? I call on my Gen X squad from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. Unfiltered conversations from night sweats to fupas to scheduling sex. Wait, what sex? Is it just me or does every woman my age want to look at Pinterest instead of having sex sometimes? They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try.
Starting point is 00:02:01 So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Gianna Maria Riva on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano. It's our favorite time of the year on our podcast point game, the playoffs. We're digging into the biggest surprises of the season. And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was harmed.
Starting point is 00:02:25 You just understood. That's how personal it got. Then after that game seven, Mark keep coming until he's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, thanks for listening to the Covino Enrich podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Be sure to catch us live every weekday from 5 to 7 Eastern 2 to 4 Pacific on Fox Sports Radio. Find your local station for Covito and Rich at Fox SportsRReyer.com or stream us live every day on the IHeartRadio app by searching FSR. Oh, yeah. So if you're in the NFL and you're not watching the Super Bowl because your team didn't make it, then you're definitely a sports baby unless it's Josh Allen, he gets the past. Josh Allen, only guy that if he doesn't watch, I'm like, I get it. Because he can't stomach the sight of Mahomes in there again.
Starting point is 00:03:16 If him and Haley, Steinfeld said, we're going to go to Cabo or Hawaii and take a break. You understand? Yeah, I get it. Okay. So we're Kavino and Rich. Jaden Daniel says he's probably going to watch because he's not bitter. He's better. And we're going to be out there in New Orleans, very.
Starting point is 00:03:29 excited about that. We actually hit Vegas this weekend for the fight, bringing the action to you. Benavita's fighting then to the Super Bowl. Danny G. does a great job with that. And be sure to check out. over-promised every Thursday. In fact, last week we had two bonus podcast,
Starting point is 00:04:03 a really fun interview with Clay Matthews, former Packer and Ram for one year. My mom watched it. She said that he was amazing and easy on the eyes. I was like, ew, your mom wants to. Yeah. I was like, what? Easy. He's married with kids. And so were you.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Anyway, it was a great interview. Yeah, your mother left me for Clay Matthews. He's my new stepdad. But really, he was surprisingly not that I had low expectations for Clay Matthews, but he exceeded all my expectations. He was a great interview, a great hang. Definitely catch it on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. We left that interview.
Starting point is 00:04:41 Saying to each other, how is Clay Matthews not on a Fox or CBS or ESPN pregame or postgame? Yeah, he was a natural. No offense. He's way better than multiple members of all of those network shows. He was really good. Like, real good. So we have a lot of people on hold. I want to get to your phone calls.
Starting point is 00:04:58 In regards to Jaden Daniels saying he's probably going to watch, because we were like, well, there's certain things you don't look back on or you don't want to deal with, like your ex-girlfriend or ex-wife's social media account. Do you look? I know I don't, but some people do. Some people do. He doesn't mind watching the Super Bowl, implying that a lot of people don't want to watch it.
Starting point is 00:05:20 What about actors who don't watch their projects? I've never seen it. What are your thoughts on that? I saw a real cool video of. Ray Romano. I'm sorry, I'll me do it by my... I'm Ray Romano. That's a great impression, by the way. It's got to close your nose. Yeah. Hey, it's me, Ray Romano.
Starting point is 00:05:35 Who I loved on... Obviously, everybody loves Raymond. I loved him on that Netflix show. I'm drawing a blank on the name of it. Spock, can you please tell me, Ray Romano, Netflix, Lisa Kudra? I think it's called the schnaz. It's not called the schnaz. It's not called the schnaz. But that was a... No good deed, I believe. No good deed.
Starting point is 00:05:54 No, I guess I was thinking of another show. But Ray Romano, recently said, he went back and watched every episode of everybody loves Raymond. And he, he's like, I got time on my hands these days. And he rated each episode like, oh, that was a really good one. Oh, that one sort of stunk. Like, he went back and he has like a chart. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:13 That's what I'm doing these days. That's funny. I saw a clip recently of Zoe T. Chanel saying that she's never seen the movie Elf because someone asked her, like, it was around the holidays. Like, do you watch Elf every year? She's like, actually I've never seen it. Oh, give me a break. I'm like, come.
Starting point is 00:06:27 Come on. Come on. You're really missing out. After the Super Bowl, when you guys get a few days off, I want you to pull a Ray Romano and rate every podcast I've ever published. Danny, I'll tell you what, I actually do listen a lot. I don't mind. You could post our podcast and insert me saying, like, I am Rich Davis, and I am a huge weeny.
Starting point is 00:06:46 And I wouldn't even know because I lived it. So you can make fun of me. I don't go back. Mark tape. But that's not out of bitterness or anything. No, that's out of like, I lived it. Right, right. That's the Peewee Herman theory.
Starting point is 00:06:57 So, because he didn't watch his big adventure. He lived it. Remember? Yeah. I lived it. Let's take your phone calls. And this hour, we got midweek major, the biggest stories in the world of sports and pop culture. And we still got to talk NBA Adam Silver.
Starting point is 00:07:10 He said some interesting stuff here on the Dan Patrick show today. So how about this? Phone calls. We'll hit up the Adam Silver story. And then spots got midweek major. We'll do that. All right. Dwayne.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Odessa. You're on with Kavino-Rutch. Hey, buddy. Super Bowl and probably 25 years. Must be a couple. Let's figure it out 25 years ago. Odessa. He's a huge fan of the Tennessee Titans or the giant.
Starting point is 00:07:47 And that's so weird because he's from a huge football town. Permian Panthers, baby. But you don't watch the biggest game? Dwayne, are you a Cowboys fan? Who's your team? I appreciate your honesty. Tortured history. Right?
Starting point is 00:08:03 But I just can't wrap my head around that. Like, how big, it's like you're a great guy. I'm not judging you. For me, for me, it feels very babyish. I mean, we are on a group chat. Kavino and I with some of our pals. Yeah. And our buddy Mike in Kentucky.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Who? He has his take of like, he's so like, he's the guy that's fed up with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey. And he's like, all the troops, he's like, I'm not watching the Super Bowl. Everyone on this group's threat is busting his balls. Like, what do you mean? You're not watching the Super Bowl. He's like, maybe I'll take my kids bowling. I'm like, stop being a loser.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Watch the Super Bowl. You're not on the team. What are you doing? That's even weaker. That's why so they could show Taylor Swift the whole time. I'm like, why do you care so much? You don't have to be glued into it, but like to ignore it, it's odd. However, if you're a man, I was going to say, if you're a woman, that would have been sexist,
Starting point is 00:08:54 if you're a woman or a man that doesn't like football, I do hear it is a great day to go to a theme park. I've heard like Disney World, Disneyland, Universal, like, if you really are that like apathetic, I don't give a crap, that is a good day to hit that up. Makes sense. Yeah. Richard in Florida. What's up, buddy boy? Hey, guys.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Yeah, man, I know what it's like to sit there and be, you know, right there before the Super Bowl. When those guys lose and they lose and look like they've been lost their dog, you just made the Super Bowl, you just finished second in the U.S. Open. You just won $3 million, but you lost. Yeah. I was in the World Series of poker, won half a million dollars, very thrilled, very happy, very well-adjusted, $12 million first plies. But to be within two tables of the brace. to be sitting there with a bracelet. That day, it was like
Starting point is 00:09:47 I'd lost my dog, so I totally get it. But Jaydon Daniels, you lose by 30, you're okay. You sit there and you're Josh Allen, and you'd lose that. I don't know how you get up in the morning. Now, of course. Richard, I feel you 100% on that. As a Niners fan, I watched receiver on Netflix.
Starting point is 00:10:04 And they go through the emotions of Debo and Kittle because those are two of the receivers they followed. And you could see when you lose the Super Bowl and overtime, you kick a field goal but the other team responds with a touchdown. You can't get closer to winning a Super Bowl. You were in the red zone, how to settle for a field goal.
Starting point is 00:10:23 It's a nightmare. I like having these conversations because it does make you explore. And I am understanding a little more why it's so hard. And I get it. You're not supposed to like it because you didn't make it. And then I started thinking based on what he said just now, and it was a great call. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:10:38 You think Eric Stultz ever sat there and watched back to the future and said to himself, you know Michael J. Fox did a really great job. I'm happy he got it. It's a good question. So I can see that. Like when you come so close to getting something great, it is kind of hard to find the joy in the project or game that went on without you. Yeah, or rich artists who pass up on songs and another artist has a humongous hit with that song.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Can they ever hear that song? And not be mad. Yeah. A lot of times, I feel what you're saying. A lot of times if they are successful on their own, they have the ability to say, what are you going to do? But if they don't have success, I heard two recently.
Starting point is 00:11:16 I mean, we all know that wasn't it Prince who gave nothing compares to you to Chenate O'Connor? Because he thought, man, who knew? It ended up being as bigger, bigger than most of Prince's singles. I heard recently, Brittany Spears, and her team said, nah, we don't want this song, it's trash.
Starting point is 00:11:34 And they gave it to Rihanna. That song is Umbrella. Yeah. That was supposed to be a Britney Spears song. Do you think Amanda Seyreed, watched Wicked because she was very close to getting that Ariana Grande role. Like, do you think she watched it? I was like, you know, she really did a great job or is there bitterness there?
Starting point is 00:11:51 You see those things on TikTok? I recently saw all the. So maybe I got to look at it from that perspective. If you had a good team and it bothers you, maybe you can understand why they don't watch. But, you know, it's funny. You should, you'd be shocked. I feel like they're missing out. I mean, I know it's a random movie, but I believe it was just celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, mean girls.
Starting point is 00:12:10 I just saw one of the. those TikTok clips of all the young hot actresses at the time that were auditioning. And they were all big names. And even the dude, the dude that got the role in Mean Girls, who I don't really even know who that was.
Starting point is 00:12:26 A-listers were lining up for those roles. So it is interesting. Very similar. To be an actor who passed on a role or just came so close, it's sort of like an athlete getting to the championship and losing. Like, do you really want to live it? All right. We'll take one more phone call. And again, the story
Starting point is 00:12:41 was. Jaden Daniel said today that he's not bitter. He was sick to his stomach when they lost. Not bitter is probably going to watch the Super Bowl. So I thought it was like, well, why wouldn't you? But I guess we're kind of explaining why. Jake. You don't have to agree with it, but at least we got to the
Starting point is 00:12:57 bottom of it. What's up, Jake? Fort Lauderdale. Hey, what's going on, fellas? Big fan of yours just stumbled on to you guys recently driving around here in South Florida. Oh, thanks, man. Love the show, man. You guys are awesome. Two quick things. As a Cowboys fan, I definitely be hate watching and the rooting piece and all the Swiftsies out there. Unfortunately, I know a lot of people don't want to hear that, but it's just the way it is. You know, as a Cowboys fan, it's just that there's no way I can root for the Eagles.
Starting point is 00:13:25 And also, going back to the previous time, you guys came out with the crows and Remedy, and one of you guys mentioned that was it on Shake Your Moneymaker. That is actually off of the second album, Southern Harmony and Musical Companions. And I just say this to say, I don't know if you guys are, Crows fans are not, I've seen them a few times. I've never seen a band sound better live than they do on a record. If you've never seen them live, do yourself in favor and check them off.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Jake, you're not the first to say that. I've heard many of rock fans say Black Crows are one of those. Like, yo, if you could see them live, even unreal. If you listen to hard to handle, there's two versions of it. There's the album version, and then there's a live version with the horn section.
Starting point is 00:14:05 And you're like, man, that live version is so much better than the regular album version. Yeah, there's a, there's a, there's a, There's a horn version of that song that's way more powerful and cool. And their band has history on this time slot right here on the network. Steve Gorman, their drummer, used to be on the air talking sports. He unfortunately is not their drummer anymore. They kind of like, they kind of pushed him out.
Starting point is 00:14:27 But yes, we get to Steve Gorman very well. Thanks for the, yeah, and they're a great, great band. Thank you, Jake, for the call. Thank you guys for hanging out with us, Fox Sports Radio. And by the way, speaking of the Super Bowl, do you guys have plans? You guys, we're doing a party in my place? or do you have Super Bowl plans? No, not yet.
Starting point is 00:14:43 I mean, we're going to be there for the whole week, obviously, broadcasting for the actual game, I don't know. Going to Magic Mountain. Yeah, man, I think I'm going to go to Knott'sbury Farm, now that you mentioned. All right, Danny, I'll see you, maybe.
Starting point is 00:14:55 Yes. I'll say, we'll see you. I'll see you. I may hit Disney with Spot. Yeah, you want to go Disney? Spot, make your strumboli, drop it off and then go. We're going on the teacups together.
Starting point is 00:15:03 I want to be on Space Mountain. Yeah, bro. It's actually, you know what? It's not a terrible idea, but I can never miss the Super Bowl. That sounds ridiculous. All right. Let's shift our attention one second to the NBA,
Starting point is 00:15:17 only because, listen, if you ask me personally, what am I interested in? It's like football, football, football, football, football, baseball. Baseball's coming, baseball's coming. Football, football, baseball. Oh, yeah. Oh, you've been talking a lot about shrinking. It's a great show.
Starting point is 00:15:33 You mostly talk about that. So does this way. Rick Moranis over here. No, no, no, not honey, I shrunk the kids. Although he does talk about it. He loves that movie too. Huge Rick Moranis fan. Did you know that?
Starting point is 00:15:44 I mean, who is not? Who isn't? Exactly. But let me tell you. See, you guys, you feed into my ADD, and then you blame me when I go on a tangent. So F you all, I watched Honey Ashung to Kids a couple months ago with my children. You know, we always talk about what movies stand the test of time, back to the future, Goonies. You know, there's always those home alone.
Starting point is 00:16:04 There's movies that any generation will love. My kids loved Honey Ashung to Kids. That's awesome. forget, it's like an hour and 40 minutes, Rick Moranis. Remember they're in the grass with the aunt and all that? People forgot about that one. They made all the sets by hand and I've seen some behind the scenes for that movie. It is incredible these sets. It really is. Danny G. I'm still mad at them for replacing Captain Eo at Disneyland. Dan Byer, you guys both have little kids when they're a little older. It really does hold up. But to the NBA now. Honey, I shrunk the kids.
Starting point is 00:16:37 What's up, Rick Moranis? Adam Silver, I credit this guy because, he is trying to figure out solutions to the NBA losing some viewership. He's not just sitting on his hands. He seems proactive and open to suggestions, and that's really cool. I think that's all you really want. And he's open to good conversations. I've heard him on Colin and Dan Patrick. Listen, it's not easy as just saying, move the three-point line, do this, do that.
Starting point is 00:17:05 This is a, like, if you're going to make a change to something, it has to be completely thought out. pros and cons and what will it do? And there's the latest one. Take a listen. The NBA is the only league that plays 48 minutes. I am a fan of four 10-minute quarters. Putting inside what it means for records and things like that, I think that a two-hour format for a game is more consistent with sort of modern television habits.
Starting point is 00:17:34 So two hours, not two and a half hours. I was on our pal, Dan Patrick, this morning. I don't, I just wonder if that solves anything. Take away two minutes of a quarter. I know you're saying two minutes. I think it helps. I think he's onto something there. Again, the question is, would the NBA benefit from shorter games?
Starting point is 00:17:55 But two minutes a quarter? You know, I think a lot of these sports, and we've seen it in baseball work, would benefit according to today's attention span. I mean, so. I know a fourth quarter, two minutes is like when your wife says, I'll be ready in two minutes. But don't you judge what movies you're going to watch based on the length of time? I do. I'll take a look at it. How long is it?
Starting point is 00:18:15 I don't know if I'm in the mood for that. I'll be honest. I need it around 1.30 to 1.48. You know, anything more than that? I'm like, I don't know. I'll be honest. If I see a YouTube clip and it's more than 10 minutes, I'm like, yeah, that's going to be rough. Kavino's right about the movies.
Starting point is 00:18:32 If my wife and I saw it wicked in the theater with my daughter, my wife still hasn't seen it. And every night when it's like 10 o'clock and the kids are sleeping, I'm like, yeah, just two and a half hours. I can't even believe that. For as much as you talk about that movie, your wife hasn't seen it, I took my daughter with her like pals. Yeah, but I can't, it's streaming on TV though. I can't believe she still hasn't seen it. Well, because every night, my point is it goes to what you're saying. It's two hours in like 50 minutes.
Starting point is 00:18:56 So when my kids finally fall asleep and they're done saying, Mom, Dad, I need water, whatever the hell they did. You want to watch a quick 48 minute episode of something. Yeah, when 10 o'clock hits and I'm like, you know, pop an edible time watch TV. You go to bed. You think two hours and 50 minutes of Wicked on a weeknight's going to work? You're right. And that's the thinking behind it.
Starting point is 00:19:15 And I get what Rich is saying too. Rich is saying, yeah, but is that going to solve the problem? I think it solves one of the problems. I don't think that changes everything. That's just part of it, but at least he's open to that. Games are 100 to 88 instead of 115 to 100. Think about some boxing matches where at the start, there's that feeling out before the either boxer.
Starting point is 00:19:36 really starts to throw their punches. Some NBA games can lag a little bit in the first quarter because the teams are just kind of filling each other out. There's some sloppy beginning sometimes. I think with this, the beginning of each quarter, you'd have to come in a little more focused. I don't know. I kind of like it.
Starting point is 00:19:52 To go with your analogy, when we watched Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, now I know that wasn't a legitimate, like regular fight. Two-minute rounds. Are you saying they should get Rosie Perez? But those... That would help. Didn't say that. Those quick rounds.
Starting point is 00:20:06 was it two minute rounds, eight rounds, eight minutes? Two minute rounds. Yes, eight. Those felt too short. Yeah, the eight two minute rounds did feel like, oh, geez, like we're already ending the round. So I don't know. I mean, listen, I'm not, you know me. I'm never the guy that's like stupid idea because I always go by unless you're coming from an older guy perspective, right? Young people, you're, I mean, you're slightly older. I'm middle age. I'm a grown man. The NBA's in the business of getting, you're getting, you're slightly older. I'm a little-aged.
Starting point is 00:20:34 of getting new fans and younger people and next generation. And I would say their opinion matters a lot. And I wonder how they felt about the Browns and the Tyson fight. You know, their attention span is non-existent. So what may seem a little too quick to us might be right on target for most people. Are you trying to say what might be right for you may not be right for some? Something like that. Different strokes for different phone.
Starting point is 00:21:01 What's up, Dan Byron? I watched an episode the other night. Arnold was having bad dreams because he was worried that Mr. Drummond was going to be injured or die on a plane crash. It was a whole deal. At least it wasn't the Dudley Bike Shop episode. Oh, gosh. No, that's the worst. I was going to say that one of the things that when you play video games, you always had to adjust early on and how long your quarters should be for like a football game because you wanted realistic stats, but you can't play a 15-minute quarter because it's just way too much.
Starting point is 00:21:33 and then the games altered with it. I remember when Little League Baseball came out on Nintendo and I'm playing my buddy and it's a six-inning game. Amazing. Because it wasn't elongated to a nine-inning on RBI or whatever. When it was six innings, it was great.
Starting point is 00:21:51 And that sense of urgency just to shorten anything, I think is pretty valuable. And if this would do it, then by all means, go ahead. The only problem, and it was the same thing with baseball and everything else, the stats moving forward. And he addressed that on the Dan Patrick show.
Starting point is 00:22:07 And honestly, as Gary Vaynerchuk said, and we quote them all the time, innovate or die. You have to make those adjustments to, and he said that for a, what was the quote actually? Two-hour format to adhere to modern habits of today or something like that. Yeah. I feel like anytime, which is very rare, anytime I watch an NBA game, it feels so disjointed because it's like they play a little foul. Then you got to wait for that to reset. Then you have the foul shots. then play a little more.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Fowl. People are flopping. It's like there's nothing smooth about watching an NBA game. That's a lot of stop. It's too much stopping. And maybe tightening up the time would force you to not allow
Starting point is 00:22:45 as much stoppage because you have to adhere to this clock. I know what Danny's saying. Danny's point as far as the feel out. You're right. It's like round one or two of a prize fight. If the first quarter does feel a little like sloppy, like yeah, let's, you know, we're not moving the ball.
Starting point is 00:23:00 You know, we're taking our time in transition. feeling it out. Maybe you eliminate that garbogio first quarter vibe. If you listen to Covino and Rich when we're filling in for Dan Patrick or Colin. The world famous. The world famous in our show when we have an extra hour. You know how we come shot out of a cannon when we do this show? When we do that show, we're like, yeah, yeah, what's going on? Yeah, you warm into it. Yeah, we're like, hey, Rich, so what did you do last night?
Starting point is 00:23:24 No, that's a great point, Covino, because when I make the best of when we fill in for DP. Because we have a whole extra hour to finish. I'll usually see. start with your first monologue from hour two because in hour one, I feel like you're waking up and warming up. Yeah. And that's a great analogy. Because we have all this extra time. You know, when we're doing our two hour condensed Kavino and Rich, it's like, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam. I can wrap this up with, you know, something super relevant and very important. Men's softball. Oh, yeah. Grown men softball. The games are set at an hour 15 minutes.
Starting point is 00:23:58 seven innings and a lot of times you can only get six innings in because they'll be like, hey, we got four minutes left, six inning, that's you got to call it. On the weekend, once in a while, the guys all get together for a pickup game, no umpires, no time limit. And some of the guys are like, hey, you guys want to play like nine innings today? I don't have a wife or kids. I got nothing doing. And people are like, no, I'm cool with the hour 15, quick getaway, like six, seven
Starting point is 00:24:25 innings. In and out. In. You don't have lives. And out. too much of things to do. Too much. Too much. So we'll say this. Let's give props to the Dan Patrick show and more props to Adam Silver because he's on the right track. He's on the right track. Innovator die.
Starting point is 00:24:39 Make the game shorter. Don't worry about the stats. It doesn't matter as much as we thought it. Did we learn that in baseball? Dan Byer made a great point. The Little League video game with six innings hits the sweet spot. That's where we are in today's world and basketball has to catch up too along with some other adjustments. But it's not the only adjustment. they need to make. I mean, you ain't kidding. Think about the length of videos they watch on TikTok and Instagram all day. You're going to watch
Starting point is 00:25:05 exactly. All right, hey, spot midweek major, get a queued up, all the headlines, sports, entertainment, life. We do that next right here. Kavino and Rich. Starting point is 00:26:35 come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers was... This is how
Starting point is 00:26:51 you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, people could call in and say, hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notebook. had Hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:27:12 Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel. help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?

And I'm CJ Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Starting point is 00:27:51 Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a lot. at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:28:07 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
Starting point is 00:28:26 we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He running up the court, licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court,
Starting point is 00:28:42 and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Agency, the ability to know that we're the experts in our own body. On the podcast, cultivating her space, Dr. Dom and Terry Lulman, create a space where black women can show up fully and be heard. These are real honest conversations. We don't always get to have out loud. Totally unreasonable with different parts of life, right? Like, oh, have all three meals and make sure you're mindful during all of them?
Starting point is 00:29:25 Absolutely not. During one meal, I'm standing. I'm standing and handing my children food. Because healing, empowerment, and resilience aren't just ideas. They're practices. And this Mental Health Awareness Month, there's no better time to pour back into yourself. Listen to cultivating her space on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This week on Crimless, we're joined by our first ever guest.
Starting point is 00:29:56 Sorry, our first ever human guest. I don't think I could be in the same room with Shamrock the parrot. I'd be too nervous. That's right. The very funny Will Ferrell joins Rory Scovel and me, Josh Dean, for an episode dedicated to the many crimes committed by people also named Will Ferrell. They called to his fellow officer for the nippers. What are the nippers?
Starting point is 00:30:21 Very good question. No, I was thinking, would that be a good name for like a salad dressing? Simple assault. And it's a play on word, salt? Maybe not. I say we invest and we see. There's only one way to know. This did not amuse the cops.
Starting point is 00:30:34 By the way, normally the cops are amused, but this did not abuse the cops. Will even comes clean about some of his own crimes. I didn't get caught. You know why? If you don't want to be suspected of anything, you whistle as you walk. Listen to crime lists on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Word on the streets is you're going to get extra Covino and Rich next week. So tune in, get ready for the big game. We're super pumped about that.
Starting point is 00:31:48 Again, live from Nola. And remember to check our podcast. Covino and Rich. Search over, promised our bonus show, wherever you stream your podcast and on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Let's leave this guy plenty of time. It's time for Spot and Midweek Major. Kavino and Rich get you over the middle of the week with
Starting point is 00:32:06 Midweek Major. Ooh, I love that. We throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the fellas, and it's like the kids say. That's so midweek, definitely major. CNR scoring. Midweek Major. Can we give Spotty at least eight minutes?
Starting point is 00:32:26 Yeah. Wow. Well, we're going to save time with something that's never been done on midweek major. I just wrote the 12, so he's like that. going to beat me. Hold on, buddy. Nah, you're not going to beat me. Not even worth it. Just give up. Just give up. I rolled the 12. Three. Referees gave that dice.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Some refs gave that dice to Covino. Speaking of, all right. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person besides Judy Blume from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Spotty Boy. All the hot takes. All right. You just said the refs, Danny Gee. Thanks for the jump off. As the chiefs head to New Orleans, the narrative continues that the refs are always lean in favor of the Chiefs. Well, Dean Blandino, former NFL head of officiating, has said that the narrative is absolutely preposterous. Blandino actually is a, on our team, Fox Sports Analyst, uh, oversaw the refs from 2013 to 2017. And he said that there's absolutely no word from Roger Goodell about this
Starting point is 00:33:21 narrative or this script. He said, if there's a room somewhere at the NFL offices where they're writing the script, they never invited me. And I was the head of officiating. I feel like I'd be a pretty important contributor to that. He didn't admit that teams sometimes do get breaks and things lean in their favor but there's no script at all. Midweek or Major. I think it's major because it's a stupid story that's
Starting point is 00:33:43 always discussed. It always comes up after a big game. People really seem to believe it and we often say if you're innocent, scream it from the mountain tops. Listen, this is weak. Why is it weak? Wee. That Dean
Starting point is 00:33:59 Blandino even has to say this. Yeah, but I'm glad he addressed it. The fact that he has to say it's not scripted. Are you a bird brain? You would think it's scripted? How many people say that? Is your head up your ass? I mean, and by the way, he says it's preposterous, but it's not impossible as we discussed yesterday.
Starting point is 00:34:15 It happened in the NBA. I know, I know. I don't think there's a script. I don't think there's, uh, you know, I don't think it's, uh, you know, all rigged. But teams do get good calls and the chiefs have got good calls. Yet there's guys like, Nick Wright on FS1 who was like, oh, the stat show that in fact
Starting point is 00:34:35 the Chiefs get less calls. Like, you could you know, you can make an angle any way you want. Not in the playoffs though, Rich. Look at the stat I just sent you. You just sent us a stat. In playoff games since 2021, the Chiefs have had zero games with more penalties than their opponents. Zero.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Ten games where the other team has had more penalties. You can say discipline or you could say Mahomes hangs with the Chiefs like all the memes say. So maybe. It's not scripted, but as we suspected, calls go certain team's ways.
Starting point is 00:35:07 Because I only have like two more weeks of Kelsey and Swift news. Let me work it all in now. So first, apparently, Taylor Swift, huge fan of her boyfriend not only on the field, but off the field. Apparently she listens to the New Heights podcast. Did you know that? Were you waiting to hear
Starting point is 00:35:23 that? Kelsey Brothers shared, the Kelsey brother shared the big news this week. Apparently one of their interns ran into Swift and Swift had nothing but glowing reviews. about the podcast as she listens every week as a huge fan loves it. And the interns were really thrilled that she listens and gave them compliments. So we'll point on this midweek or major. I think it's a mid story.
Starting point is 00:35:45 Here's why. I would assume she did. If she loves Travis the way you assume she does, why don't you support the things that they're into? I know she's busier than most, but you don't think Rich's wife and my girlfriend listened to the show pretty much every day. They do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:01 My mom listens every day. Week Major could one of the answers to be stupid? Yeah, when you care about somebody, you pay attention to what they're up to. Do we think she sits on a throne of diamonds and just a laser all day? That's what I picture. What do we think that she doesn't listen to podcasts and music and things? That's what I think. Her man has a top-rated podcast.
Starting point is 00:36:24 You're shocked to Taylor Swift listens? Danny G's wife listens here and there. My wife. You were saying your girlfriend. it happens. This is ridiculous next. Oh, I picture like talking to cats all day. Is that weird?
Starting point is 00:36:36 All right. And more importantly, I know there's been speculation after this Super Bowl. If they go for the Chief Pete, if, you know, three Chief. The Chief, the Chief, whatever you're calling it. A Chief. That this might be the end of Travis Kelsey's Chief's career. He may be calling it quits. And that he may propose to his girlfriend where the odds are in for that.
Starting point is 00:36:55 And apparently at plus 750 odds, people think that Travis may propose. to Taylor. So at plus 750 odds. But on the other tip, it's minus 1,500 that he will not propose to Taylor at the end of the game. If the chiefs win, the celebration, all the confetti's coming down. So what do you think of those odds? Midweek or major? I think the storyline is major because we've already established millions of people tune in because of the whole Taylor Swift, Swifty, Travis Kelsey Romance. It's made millions of dollars for the NFL. I think it's major because because if this were to happen, that has to be the end of his career. I think if he gets engaged at the Super Bowl, such a cliche sort of thing,
Starting point is 00:37:38 I don't want to see him back out there next year. It's kind of like, that's a perfect way to just end it. I'll say this is major because. Definitely major. If Travis Kelsey three repeats with Mahomes and then proposes to Taylor Swift, could we then say goodbye to this chapter of our football pop culture life? That's what I mean. I feel like that would be the perfect. close the door.
Starting point is 00:37:59 Please. Like, even if you hate the chiefs, if I told you the chief's winning means Travis proposes, they get married, and you never have to hear about it again, would we sign up for this? That's kind of what I was getting at. I was trying to be nice about it.
Starting point is 00:38:12 I think that's just a perfect way to end it, and we could say, all right, later, on to the next. But I think Travis is too much of a team player to take the focus off of the team. So even though it's minus 1,500, he's not going to propose. I don't know. The sappy ones and the Swifties would,
Starting point is 00:38:27 eat this up. I know. They really would. But it's, yeah, it's all celebration after that. You don't want to distract from that. I agree. All right. We'll shift over to MLB. I don't know if you saw this. So Trevor Bauer. Is he ever going to get a shot? I mean, hold on.
Starting point is 00:38:41 Was chirping very loud on X this week, having a lot to say about his skills on the mound saying that they're just as, still just as good, if not better than anyone. I agree. He claimed that on a global scale, he is second in popularity only to Shohei Otani.
Starting point is 00:38:57 that's how popular he thinks he is and he says that he could as he said there's only 20 players that could possibly even 20 players in the world that could even go up against him everyone else just sucks so Trevor Bauer is just going hard on Twitter
Starting point is 00:39:15 still saying that he could play in the league he said he would play for free that his worth is 50 million but he would absolutely gladly pay for free and they're just throwing that all away for a chance to take Trevor Bauer, midweeker major. Mid.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Okay. He may not be guilty of everything, but he's also not like the most innocent guy. And he wrote so many people the wrong way in his career that, you know, you reap what you're so, you lie in the bed, he make, all these things, right? And I know he didn't completely make his own bed, but he added to it a little bit. Right. Well, he did some weird things in that bed. I think he's also big dreaming to think that he's second to show he Otani.
Starting point is 00:39:51 So that also makes it mid because I can think of like four or five people off top my head that I bigger him. Bryce Harper, Aaron, Judge. I get it. Alonzo. I mean, so many big stars in the world. I think this is major. I think. I think Trevor Bauer is a top 10 to 15 starting pitcher in baseball if he was allowed back in the league,
Starting point is 00:40:08 which he is allowed. No team's going to take a chance because whether smoked his fire and whether he's innocent or not, it's too risky. Rich, he was almost, he lights out wherever he plays. He was almost a liability before these accusations and all that stuff because no one liked him. So, all right. I don't know. Read the tweets on your own time. or the X's, whatever they call them. Thanks, buddy.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Yeah, thanks, guys. Thanks, Bob. It is a shame. The Trevor Bauer story is a shame. Because he is. Because he's good. He is talented. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:35 He really is. Dan Byer, what's going on, buddy? Guys, got some baseball news at the end of what I'm about to tell you. But we start in hoops. Lakers are going to be without Anthony Davis for about a week because of the abs strain suffered last night against Philadelphia. Hawks lost forward Jalen Johnson for the season. Suffered a shoulder injury recently.
Starting point is 00:40:52 That shoulder injury now requires surgery. Tough blow for Atlanta who's sitting there in the nine spot. in the east. Johnson's average 19 points and 10 rebounds per game this season. WMBA star Caitlin Clark has declined an invitation to take part in the NBA special three-point contest during All-Star weekend. Clark's
Starting point is 00:41:09 rep say she prefers to make her three-point shootout debut this summer in Indianapolis during WNBA All-Star festivities. Some ads airing during Super Bowl 59 on Fox will cost $8 million the most ever for a Super Bowl, according to multiple reports. Former Rutgers head coach
Starting point is 00:41:25 Chris Ash, who was the defense of coordinator at Texas and Ohio State will be the new defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. Tampa Bay Ray signed second baseman Husson Kim to a two-year deal worth $29 million. Blue Jays, the frontrunners to sign free agent pitcher, Max Scherzer, according to MLB.com. And coming this summer in Queens, the U.S. Open will begin a day earlier than normal. The final Grand Slam tennis event of the year is going to start competition on a Sunday. Guys, this is no different than what the Australian Open does and the French Open. allows people to see more competition,
Starting point is 00:41:59 allows you to get more matches in, and because it's a weekend, allows more people to have flexibility to attend the matches. So in Queens, the U.S. Open will be starting on a Sunday instead of the normal Monday that it's been. An extra day. Back to you guys. Thank you, Dan Byer.
Starting point is 00:42:16 Any other thoughts on Spotty's midweek major stories? I'm thinking of some of those Taylor things, and like, he's not going to get engaged. That's a Super Bowl. There's no way. It would seem. maybe within this very soon after
Starting point is 00:42:30 but it seems preposterous that you've seen the post game celebrations it's like everything's crazy it's too chaotic they're not going to part the field have them in the center of it and everyone's around and he's going to get down on one knee
Starting point is 00:42:42 that would be insane sounds like a hallmark movie right there is however you mean the hallmark movie that they made based on this there is however speculation that what if Taylor Shiff comes out and performs bad blood
Starting point is 00:42:54 with Kendrick Lamar but I promise you if there was any chance she'd hit that stage, Fox would be promoting it every hour from now until Super Bowl Sunday. That's not a, you don't keep the secret. Has she done a Super Bowl yet? She is not.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Wow. Yeah. So we got to talk Bill Belichick next. He said something kind of crazy about Tom Brady. We want to know your thoughts. We got more Covino and Rich live from the Tyraq.com studio. Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers. And guess what?
Starting point is 00:43:26 We have some big news. What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our. own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we, how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And, well, we were
Starting point is 00:43:51 thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
Starting point is 00:44:14 But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. It's getting late early on the show. Kavino Enrich Live from a tire rack.com studio. Remember, rapid radios are the walkie talking for the big game.
Starting point is 00:48:19 They're pushed to talk offering national LTE coverage. Sam, I like your dancing was, by the way. No subscription ever. Perfect for instant contact with your friends. We use them on the show. Go to rapid radios.com now for up to 60% off and free shipping. Thanks again to rapid radios. And my apologies to rapid radios,
Starting point is 00:48:40 hard to concentrate when there's a dance party in the other studio. What is this? I don't know. I was Sam go to the bathroom with that DJ Pauli day? I know. I know. All of a sudden, I look across and I see Iowa Sam breaking it down, fist pumping.
Starting point is 00:48:53 Is there an Avichie documentary? Yeah, Vichy Street Dancer. I'm Tim. It's on Netflix. It's definitely worth to watch. This is a banger. when you're done watching Squid Game, which I finally finished. It was great.
Starting point is 00:49:04 No one told me how great it was. I haven't finished it yet. Season two was really good. It was good, man. It was just as good, if not better than the first season. Bro, you know what's good? What? Last night, Brenda and I, we started the show Paradise.
Starting point is 00:49:15 Dude. I heard. I told you, man. Rich finally hit one. Yeah, there you go. Rich has a reputation. The boy who cried show. No, half of his recommendations are gold.
Starting point is 00:49:25 Yeah, yeah. Like, I'd say around 30% of them are probably gold. I would say about 65. So real quick, because it's getting late again. We're Covino and Rich with Danny G and Sam and Byer and Spot on the videos at Covino and Rich. Bill Belichick, I think he's taking a pretty cool road here. I think we're seeing a likable Belichick. I think what he's saying is kind of crazy, but it's not like that off the wall, Michael Jackson style.
Starting point is 00:49:50 He says, or he's suggesting on the Let's Go podcast with Jim Gray that the Lombardi Trophy should be named after Tom Brady. I mean, Tom Brady has seven. Vinceal Barty's got two. Right. And what makes it really cool. And again, not that crazy, but like, wow, yeah, I guess. Is that he's like, well, look, without great teams and great players, we wouldn't have had any. And he's crediting all the players.
Starting point is 00:50:17 He's crediting Brady and the team and how great they were. He's like, I didn't score any touchdowns. I didn't kick any field goals. He's like, the credits, the players deserve all the credit here. And he's like, you know, it should be named after. anybody should be named after Tom Brady. This sounds like an idea that his 24-year-old girlfriend came up with.
Starting point is 00:50:34 You should name it after your friend Tom. Didn't he win a lot of those? But you know what? The original trophy named after the guy that won the first two, Vince Lombardi, named after a coach. So what he's saying is, why is it named after a coach?
Starting point is 00:50:48 I have more Super Bowls than Vince Lombardi. If anything, if you named after a player, how about the guy that won six with me and won one without me? Tom Brady, seven, you know, who has three more than any other quarterback? He credited Brady and Vinatari. And, you know, he was saying, look, we're not out there doing it.
Starting point is 00:51:03 They're out there doing it. So that was kind of cool to think about. And it makes you think, like, are there other changes that could work? You always see. Well, yeah. What if Mahomes continues to go on a tear then? No, you always see, like, even in the MLB. By him?
Starting point is 00:51:19 You see that random bird. It always looked like a bird logo to me. Like, why is there a bird for the logo of the MVP? MLB. You always see, like, Ken Griffey Jr. or taking a swing, you're like, yeah, that would work. But, but you know what? Why is he not worthy of being the logo or something?
Starting point is 00:51:33 I was saying to Big Mike, you know, who runs this place? Who? Who? Mike. Yeah, Big Mike. Looks like Bruce Willis, but a lot older. He looks like Stone Cold. It's older cousin.
Starting point is 00:51:43 Mike. Who? I was saying that if Jordan wasn't a billion dollar brand with Nike, and it wasn't a Nike Jordan thing, they may have changed the NBA logo from Jerry West dribbling, which, by the way, has never officially been confirmed by the the NBA. But the Jerry West dribbling, maybe it would have been replaced by
Starting point is 00:52:02 like the Jumpman logo, but that is a billion dollar. It's a billion dollar branding. There was speculation after we lost Kobe Bryant five years ago this week. Remember they said, ooh, maybe they make Kobe the new logo? I mean, there could be more than one logo. Didn't they make Jordan the
Starting point is 00:52:18 MVP trophies? Isn't that what they did? Oh, you know what? That's a great question. The Eastern and Western Conference, don't they, is it like the Magic Johnson? Larry Bird. Am I, did I dream that? Did they remain about Johnson? Yeah, it wouldn't be your first time. Did they not rename?
Starting point is 00:52:34 Or your last. Yeah, they did. They renamed the Eastern and Western Conference MVP's in the, what's its spot? The Michael Jordan Trophy is the key of NBA, NBA most valuable player. Can you leave me time to make my pitch? Sorry, go ahead. Can I make my pitch to be on the box for Just for Men? I mean, I think I should be on it.
Starting point is 00:52:49 Why the, like, random looking Hispanic guy? Why not me? Dark brown black? I've been a user and spokesman for years. So Belichick said it should be the Tom Brady Trophy, not the Lombardi trophy. And just Ravatos. All right. We'll see you guys. Arrived there to you, baby.
