I'm Joy Taylor filling in for Colin Cowherd today alongside Alex Curry. Colin is enjoying a day off. We have lots going on today. We'll talk to Will Blackman in just a few minutes. Thank you to Mary Kay Cabot for joining us earlier to discuss the Baker situation. And I appreciate you hanging out with us today. It's been a wild, wild free agency and a crazy tournament so far. Lots of madness.

That's why they call it the madness. And you remind yourself it's going to be okay and you root for the underdog so then you get happy. Remember, we're changing the mindset here. Oh, yeah. I mean, I look, I can't fake outrage and I just don't get, I gave up on the whole rooting for my bracket to be perfect thing a long time ago. I'm like, if it's just mostly good and my upsets are the same as everybody or my, you know, my losses are the same as everyone else is like Kentucky. Like I got, Iowa. Yeah.

Well, Iowa, I feel like that's on me. but that's on us. That's on me. That's on us. Kentucky was a different story, but congrats to St. Peters. That's the angle that we're taking. Forget about that. Congrats to St. Peters.

It's always fun when the underdogs get those big wins and those big upsets in the tournaments. So one of the moves that we saw yesterday was Alan Robinson to the Rams, three years, $45 million. Once again, the rich get richer. I love this move for the Rams. Cooper Cup, Robert Woods, Alan Robinson, and Van Jefferson will be the room right now. I didn't mention Odell, although he wants to come back. He is a free agent right now. Now, because of this move, they are getting calls about Robert Woods, who is coming off of an ACL injury. It's a crowded room, it feels like, and they probably could get a good trade for Robert Woods.

But I don't know that I would move off of him just yet. We don't know when OBJ is going to play either. He is also dealing with an ACL injury. So I love this move for the Rams. You want to continue. to adjust things just because you're the big winners. Doesn't mean you need to rest. You need to stay active. You need to bring in new people. You need to keep trying to improve. And Alan Robinson is a great addition to this team.

Not only is he a great player, a great veteran, but he is also going to be able to contribute right away. He's one of the best jump ball receivers in the league. I had 1,400 yards season with Blake Bordles throwing to him. And when you look at the numbers that he's had and take a look at the people that have been throwing to him, That makes you as a Rams fan or should make you even more excited about this edition because obviously we saw that Matthew Stafford is not just capable, but a Super Bowl winning quarterback who's catching balls from Trubisky and Nick Foles and Andy Dalton and just keep finding a way to make it happen with Blake Bortle. So I love this edition for the Rams.

I think it's great. I know people kind of get confused when you have the talent that they've had and you have a Cooper Cup. you know when you have a Robert Woods obviously injured van Jefferson like you have a strong room why continue to add to that but I just I don't think it you can be too deep at Y receiver in today's NFL so I really like this move for the Rams also the injuries that they're dealing with with Woods and OBJ ACLs are a big deal and it's hard to come back from it's tricky like you you can slowly come back and I mean we both played soccer growing up you saw a lot of ACLs yeah usually like one or two happens more than once if it happens um yeah yeah

you never you never you never you never you never really know yeah i i stopped doing anything competitive after i charm acal oh that was it yeah but i wasn't an infill receiver yeah i mean listen tearing your acal is awful no matter what but when it's your job to rehab it's like when you got to fit rehab into your regular schedule uh it's it's not as fun also i'm five foot two so i couldn't wear heels and it was tragic for me awful do you do you ever tear your ACL no i got really lucky so we were talking about this in the break we both grew up playing soccer i was kind of the enforcer I never did an ACL, but I tore the ligaments in my ankle. So that, yeah, going into my senior year.

No fun. We're talking to Will Blackman. He's joining us now. Super Bowl champ, NFL veterans and NFL seasons. Will, did you ever have it? He's also drinking his protein shake out of a wine glass because, of course, he is the wine MVP. Thanks for joining us, Will.

Did you ever have an injury? Ever have an injury like that during your career? Did I ever have an injury? I had nine surgeries. kidding me. I survived the NFL. But yeah, yeah, I had three, three knee surgeries, two ACLs. One I had to do revise. I had two foot injuries. Like four hand. Look at this finger. This thing is ruined. Look at that. See the different. Look at that. It's like, looks like an alligator. Yes, lots of injuries. Yaller ridiculous. So that being said, do you like this edition

of Alan Robinson to the Rams? I absolutely love it. I was with A-Rob and Jacksonville. And I just saw how insanely talented he was going against him as a rookie during one-on-ones. And I just knew he had that big playability. You saw what he did at Penn State. You know, he had that famous jump ball in one of those games. But yeah, he's absolutely elite talent. I'm just so happy he has an elite quarterback. He has an elite play caller. And he went and got some elite dollars in L.A. And it's the perfect fee. I know Cooper Cut is like beyond ecstatic because he's going to ball out again. So this is absolutely perfect. Just another, the target that Stafford needs, that McVeigh needs to take a shot over the top, no doubt.

So some news out of Green Bay. Defonse Adams is no longer there. So this is where I'm at on Green Bay, and then I'll ask you. I don't think that they can really be in the Super Bowl conversation anymore. I don't think that they are getting the proper criticism for how catastrophic the end of this past season was. I think we kind of just glazed over it because Aaron Rogers won the MVP and it's like, yo, he's just the greatest. That's nothing to glaze over.

That's a big deal. Yeah, it's great. If you're into regular season awards, it's awesome. I'm not discrediting the impact of winning back-to-back MVPs. Aaron Rogers is a first battle hall of famer. He will go down as one of the greatest to ever play this game. He is legendary talents, but he is not a postseason quarterback at this point in his career. But having that Hall of Fame talent, does that not give you a chance?

Especially the way he's still playing. Of course, they have a chance. They have a chance, but can you really look at this roster? And now you lose the number one wide receiver in the league in Devonthe Adams and certainly the biggest target for Aaron Rogers and the only one that he trusted. So when you look at the roster outside of Aaron Rogers, are they really Super Bowl contenders? No, absolutely, because they have a top five defense, right? The defense was outstanding last year.

And they have a really good backfield. And now Aaron will be forced to throw to somebody else. That was the issue in the playoffs. Like he was just targeting Devonthe the whole time. There's plenty of receivers in free agency. There's plenty of receivers in the draft. So I think, you know, they looked at that. Like, hey, let's just get more talent around.

Let's just reload. Obviously, you cannot get a Devonty Adams. That's really difficult. But there's a lot of talent out there. We can reload and he has a lot of ability to make play. So I think, right, depending on who they get, what moves they make of via free agency and draft, that's going to be a big deal. But yeah, I think just having the core of it,

and having the defense, they're definitely in Super Bowl contention, no doubt. I think you're being optimistic. Baker Mayfield once out of Cleveland's, they have said no. They're not going to trade him. I think Baker Mayfield is a completely average quarterback. I think he makes way more noise and has a much bigger brands than he is a good football player and a good franchise quarterback. But what is your take on health?

That's not his fault. It's never Baker's fault. What's not his fault? What's not his fault? Because listen, you have to understand. Okay, here's the thing. When Baker was drafted, they literally gave that man the keys to the city. LeBron left.

Baker come save the day. They gave him the keys to the city. They allowed him to go to the podium and talk about other players' contracts and injuries. They allowed that to happen. They created this beast, this guy. They created all that. And I think that's what happened. That's the interesting what happened.

And then overall, so here's what interesting, too. when they made all those moves and they had a bunch of players, I was speaking to a coach and he was like, look, we are super talented. And he said the one thing I am nervous about, I am so nervous about the culture. And I think just from the top down, from the front office management, all that,

I think that's what happened is that they allow this culture to be like this where it's awkward. You know, a lot of the good players are now gone and apparently he wants out. So it's like they've been talented. They just never had the right culture. to be as competitors that should be. Like, I feel like this is the most underachieved team in the NFL,

especially who they had the past couple of years. I'm not going to argue with you about the culture, but I don't think that it's someone's fault if they're given a runway and then they set it on fire. And Baker's a spread quarterback. He got them in the play action system where it's a system. He has to drop back and this guy has to get the ball. Oklahoma, he spread offense.

Let's slinging around. Let's the ball around all that stuff. So he's a victim of the system. system. He's a victim of what happened in the front office. He's a, oh my gosh, Will. I know. We don't have enough time to get into all of the reasons why you're wrong. But it's your opinion.

I disagree. I disagree because I want to ask you about DeShan Watson as well. I think that the, look, when you look at Atlanta and you look at New Orleans, they're both kind of flawed on the fields. Like they have some spaces that they obviously need to improve. The Saints have a new head coach this year. They're moving on from Sean Payton. I think Atlanta overall is the better situation for Deshawn Watson. We're going to find out in the next couple days where he decides to go. But where do you think is a better landing spot for Deshaun Watson? Yeah, I 100% think it's Atlanta.

Simply because he's still young. You know, he's still in his late 20s. And they're in the process of already rebuilding with a new GM, with the new coach from last year. They were competitive last year despite having, you know, an average roster. And so I think this is the right move for them. New Orleans is so you just don't know. no, it's so unpredictable what they're going to do in the next few years.

So I think Atlanta is a perfect spot. And then obviously, if he goes there, then Matt Ryan's going to have to move. And I think for Matt Ryan, where he is in his career, I think Indy is the absolute most perfect spot for him to go to. We're talking to Will Blackman, Joy Taylor, in from Carl and Cowherd on the Herd. So I'm glad you mentioned Indy. I agree with you on Atlanta. So there we go.

We agree on something today. I am not a huge fan. We not agree on itself. Everything so far. I am not a huge. It's not that I'm not a huge fan of Carson Wentz. I just don't think Carson Wentz is as good as people perceive him to be. We have seen enough evidence at this point.

He's on his third team now. Both exits have been ugly. But I do think this was a great move for the Washington commanders. I think it was an upgrade. And I think this makes them very viable in that division. Yeah, the hard thing with Carson Wentz is, and I played against him that year where he was, you know, like an MVP candidate. Like he was going all out and was really talented. He is super talented.

He checked the box and everything you want to the quarterback. The hard thing for him is his accountability. He's so reckless at times in terms of putting his body at risk. You don't know if he's going to legit be there. Well, he was there all games, but he was playing hurt a lot. So that's the thing you have to be super careful. You don't know. And then Washington, unfortunately, FedEx Field is not the prettiest place to play and protect your health.

So, but him being in that division, it's wide open, right? It changed hands the past, what, 16? years. Like there's never been a consistent back-to-back winner in that division. So them getting Carson in a division he's super familiar with. Yeah, I think they definitely have a chance. Because Washington is a team where they literally

are a quarterback away from getting to making a deep run of the playoffs. Yeah, I agree. I like a lot that goes on in Washington on the field. The energy is better there. Ron went in there, Riverboat Ron, and then clean some things up. Yeah, I mean, it's there's still some issues upstairs, but I do,

I'm with you on Ron. I love Ron Rivera. So speaking of a tough division is the AFC West, it's the best division in football now. And now the Raiders have just added Devante Adams. Everyone's discussing how they're going to rank quarterbacks in that division. How do you rank the quarterbacks in that division? And who do you think at this point right now is at the top? Well, Holmes is king, right? Holmes for sure.

Russell. So everyone, I know, seriously, And Russell is, he definitely gives you chance and he has like the pedigree. Like he's definitely who you want, but it's so hard not to put Herbert. I understand Russell had a Super Bowl, but that was like a decade ago. But Herbert right now is like this, he might be one of the scariest quarterbacks in the entire NFL. So I'm going to go Herbert too. And then I'm going to go Car 3, Russell, 4.

As I sit in my shake. We're talking to Will Blackman. I mean, it's, it really is. Russell's new to that division. He hasn't seen it yet. He's new. Yeah, because he hasn't been playing in the NFCS this old time. And Derek Carr just got his homeboy, Devante.

It's different. Well, I think the division has changed because of that move. Because the Raiders were just kind of regulated to being the last team in that division. But now they've added Devonte Adams. I think that changes things. And Chandler. That was a big deal too. And Chandler, yes, I agree.

It's splitting hairs after Mahomes. I think everyone's going to have Mahomes at the top as they should. But I have Russ second because. of the Super Bowl and because of his consistency. I do think at some point, I know we have the discussion, wins and losses are not a quarterback stat, which I don't entirely agree with. But at some point, you do

have to translate that to Halland that you have into winning. Like, I think the Chargers have to make the playoffs this season. Like, this is a season where Justin Herbert needs. Denver does, but I also think that the Chargers need to do something. They made a lot of... They do. Yeah, no, they made some insane moves, no doubt about it. But I think

for Russell individually, this has to be this has to be a big year for him. Just almost like how I know he had a Super Bowl win, but that was like more so like he was young. The team was outstanding. But in terms of like the individual accolades, I think this is huge for Russell. Like he has to go into Denver and like go nuts and ball out. Like he has to. I agree.

He promised four Super Bowls in Denver. So he has to get it done. I agree. I think that Russell Wilson and Aaron Rogers have poured on a whole other layer of expectations on their career for the next couple years with the noise. Aaron did. No, he did not. Oh, here you go. You know what? I should expect this from you. But Will, let's be honest.

Okay. Aaron kicked up a lot of dust this past year. All right. It was a lot of drama. It was a lot of stuff. All right. There was a lot of stuff. And then he went and got that contract. Did it? Because they lost in their first playoff game at home against a wildcard team. Happens. Oh. It happens. You win some, you lose some. You know, you're athletes.

You know that. That's exactly how they looked at it. You win some, you lose some. I can't. You don't think that Aaron Rogers has extra pressure on him going into the next year. He has absolute zero pressure. Like he actually, the fact that this happened and people are like, how is he going to be without Devante?

He's going to go ball out again. Every time people go off on Aaron, he goes out and plays super well. So there's no extra added pressure. Like in terms of like his career. Where, like, what has he not done? Okay, he hasn't won two Super Bowls. But he has all the MVP's, all the proes. He won Super Bowl already.

Like, he's, he's, there's no pressure. There's no pressure on this. I adamantly disagree. Y'all need to stop and leave him alone. There's no pressure. Leave Aaron alone. There is pressure on Aaron Rogers. It absolutely is.

He's the highest paid quarterback in the NFL coming off of the noisiest season. Rightfully so. No. Back to back MVP's and not one playoff. win in this year's playoffs. So there's just definitely pressure. And now you lost Savante Adams. So the situation has changed. There's definitely pressure on, on Aaron Rogers. Is he going to go down as one of the greatest regardless of how the rest of his career goes? Yes. But will it, will he have underachieved since that Super Bowl? Yes. Based on the talents and the expectations

that he created, yes. The team has, yes, the team has underachieve. He has not. He has not underachieve. Aaron Rogers is a victim of the Green Bay Packers, right? Well, everyone yelled at the McCarthy. They said it was his fault. Everyone was, they said it was his fault. Yeah, it was. I said it was McCarthy's fault. Okay.

You're the best, Will. What's in the protein shake? I don't know. I just got to, I told you, I had a, just a regular packet because I was rushed to get on this show. Oh, well, I appreciate you joining us. Do you have a, you have a wine you want to plug? The wine MVP? Will is a.

discussing at the end there with Will. The AFC West has now become the dominant division in football, and everyone's kind of ranking everyone, and where do you put the quarterbacks, and where do you put the rosters? And yesterday, the Raiders gained Devante Adams, a five-year, $141.4 million deal. Much deserved. He's the best receiver in the league. And because of that, I do think you have to take the Raiders up a few notches. I also love the edition of Chandler Jones. And we know what Derek Carr is capable of. So who do you pick in this division? I mean, everyone kind of defaults to the chiefs as they should, but obviously Russell Wilson is there now. Super Bowl winner in his prime. They had a great roster, have a great roster, always felt like they were just a quarterback away. Justin Herbert,

unbelievably talented. The Chargers have made some amazing moves this off season as well. Where do you put all these teams? And because they are so close and because the talent has, so close. You really need to consider one thing that is steady. And that is, in my opinion, coaching. Andy Reed is the only coach in this division that we don't have questions about or know what they're even capable of. So he's a Super Bowl winning quarterback, a legend, and they are competitive every single year. They have Patrick Mahomes, obviously. We know what Andy Reid is. We have no idea what Nathaniel Hackett is. He's a brand new coach. He's never been a head coach. He had Aaron Rogers. Matt LaFleur was calling the plays. Will he be a good coach? Who

knows? Maybe he will. Maybe he won't. We do not know. We do know he has Russell Wilson, so he has a better chance of being a good coach. But we have absolutely no idea what Nathaniel Hackett is going to do. Josh McDaniels. Well, we've seen that be a complete and total disaster. I do think that he has grown since that experience. He's talked about what he learned from that experience, but it is still the Raiders and they are still dealing with a lot of dysfunction. They haven't won a playoff game in 20 years and have two winning seasons in that stretch. So he has to overcome a little bit internally with the Las Vegas Raiders. And Brandon Staley goes forward on fourth on his own 18. So we have a lot of questions about the coaching in this division. We know that there's a lot of talent on the rosters.

We know what the quarterbacks are capable of. It might just come down to coaching at the end of the day. and to me that might end up being the determining factor and who comes out of this very, very tight and talented division. Let's get to Alex Curry with the news. No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, let's keep with that theme, because a blockbuster trade shook the NFL yesterday

when the Packers traded Devante Adams to the Raiders. Adam has reportedly agreed to a five-year, $141.25 million contract with Vegas, which makes him the league's highest paid receiver. And Green Bay will receive the 22nd and 53rd overall picks in this year's draft in return. The Packers were reportedly willing to pay Devante as much as the Raiders were, but he wanted to play elsewhere. And according to Ian Rappaport, Rogers knew the situation with Devante was far too gone

and that he would never play for the Packers again even before he signed his extension. Now, as I'm hearing this news yesterday, the song just playing over and over in my head, you can't always get what you want. That's like a little voice, Alex. Oh, no, no, no, no. Sorry. Okay. So, yeah, that was Roger's situation.

And then I'm thinking about Devante Adams and the Raiders. And what a great deal for the Raiders. This is huge for them, especially for a team that defied all the odds last season amongst the madness and the chaos and the dysfunction. But I also think the biggest thing was hearing last July. Derek Carson Adams was one of his best friends and that he would do a full court press on the receiver once he became a free agent.

That is everything. That was kind of a gloss over comment. There's the relationship right there. Well, yes, again, back to my original rant to start the show. I think that the Packers get a little bit more credit for the business side of things than they probably deserve. The Jordan Love Pick is looking worse and worse

as the days go on. And they should have signed Devante Adams and worked out this deal last year, and they wouldn't be in this situation where they don't have him. I know the Packers are trying to spin this. Like, we got draft picks and we have cap space. Cool.

Do you have the talent? Do you have the number one receiver? Number one receiver? You don't. You don't. So I think this is an incredible addition for the Raiders. Like I just said, I think it takes them into a different space.

I like the Chandler-Jones signing, obviously, but this is, he's the number one receiver in the league. And if they have a relationship, that should make it even more terrifying. Best friends. Best friends. You saw what happened with Stafford and Cup when they became just attached to the hip. Yeah. They were incredible. So the fact that these two played together in college, they are best friends. That's a big deal. Yeah, I think it's mostly everything because we know they're both talented, but can they get on the same page and can they, you know, click quickly?

If they have that kind of relationship, I think this takes it to another level. It's, that's interesting. That's a little sliding comment there by Derek Carson. A little receipts from Alex Curry. All right. Let's move on to Baker Mayfield. has requested a trade from the Browns, reportedly saying that it is in the best interest of both sides to move on. The Browns, however, have no plans to accommodate that request. There is still some interest in Baker from around the league. The Seahawks have reportedly discussed going after him to replace Russell Wilson, and Baker reportedly has a strong interest in the Colts if he does get out of Cleveland. Now, I have to admit, I thought Baker was taking the high road a couple days ago when he wrote that letter to Cleveland and Cleveland fans thanking them and loving them.

And this yesterday, day before, whole situation unfolding the way it is, is just back to his old ways. And now there's drama. And now the bridge is burnt. No matter what happens. I think he's probably going to stay. But if he does, it's going to be so awkward. Well, it is. The Browns have no need to trade Baker Mayfield.

No. First of all, he is recovering from all of these injuries. Oh, yeah. First of all. So what is his value even? Yes, he's a starting quarterback. Yes, the Colts could use him. Yes, the Seahawks could use him.

But the Browns don't need to be pressured into making a bad deal for Baker Mayfield just because he wants out. No. They have Case Keenham in-house. Yep. So Baker can just sit there. Yep. And they can play Case Keenham.

Now, I don't think that it'll end up coming. to that, but this idea that Baker Mayfield can just demand a trade, like he's Matthew Stafford or he's Russell Wilson, is clearly unrealistic because the Browns are like, no, we're not doing anything you want to do, and we don't have to, and they don't, and they don't need to. I don't like how toxic this situation has gone, and I don't place all of it on Baker Mayfield. I do think that this is the Browns, and I probably got a little ahead of myself in believing that they had a complete culture shift there, because they clearly have not. I do like their front office. I do think they have some.

standards now and they want to win and they have the roster they just added amari cooper we're not even talking about yep i do think the colts could benefit from having baker mayfield i do think the seahawks could as well but this is uh this is a lesson and i don't think it's being learned like him asking for a trade to your point after putting that completely inauthentic statement out yeah it's just another layer i got fooled you don't need to ask for a trade no sometimes just be still yeah be still. And I understand. It's got to be hard, knowing that your team is going out and looking for another quarterback. Okay. You know what that happens? Because you didn't play well enough. Well, I know, but a lot of other quarterbacks have gone through this. Some of the top quarterbacks have gone

through something like this. So what you do, it's all how you react and it's all the mentality you have. Put your head down and earn that position. Prove why you deserve to be the starting quarterback. That would have been the right attitude to take, especially after the Cleveland letter he just wrote. that's what I thought he was going to do. Like I said, I admit I was fooled. I mean, I was fooled. I wouldn't say I was fooled. Yeah, I was fooled.

I thought he was capable and he's not capable. We'll let that one go. Okay, let's switch gears because it has been a tough season for the Lakers and LeBron has clearly been frustrated with the way his team has been performing. And after LA's third straight loss on Wednesday, LeBron admitted that this season has been more difficult than usual. Take a listen. You know, I think every season for me is all about patience. And, you know, and there's no different this year. I think it's just testing my patience a little bit more than, you know, any season in the last few years, you know, just because of the way we're playing.

And, you know, the loss is coming, you know, at a bunch. And so, you know, testing your patience and how you can continue to, you know, you know, keep the focus out on the floor, figure out ways how you can, you know, be better for your teammates and not fall into the notion of a losing mentality. Now, this is hard because I don't want to try to put myself in LeBron's position right now. He is going out there and giving 100% every single night, and he is not getting the same from his teammates.

But he put this team together. He made this bed and now he's. has to figure it out. It's bad. It's bad. It's not often that LeBron's situation is a complete bust, but this, as a Lakers fan, is a complete bust. Well, yeah, I didn't have too much compassion for Lakers fans throughout the season, but I am there now with you guys. I do feel for Lakers fans because you've got to have some pride. Yes. As a player at some point. And allowing Pat Beverly and Kat to talk trash, even if you're losing, you know, you got, you got to be rough for something. We were talking on the breakup. You were the enforcer.

You know, you got to let somebody know you're there if this is what's going on. Show a little fight. Show a little pride. And I think that's where the team is losing me. It's like, I think Russell Westbrook has been an absolute disaster. I don't think he's done himself any favors, similar to Baker, zero self-awareness, zero. lubricating of the situation. He's constantly coming at fans, constantly coming at media, talking about, you know, his name and his legacy and like has been awful. Yeah. And, and, clearly something that has deteriorated the locker room as well. So I don't think there's any mirrors around Russell Westbrook that he's willing to look into. And I do think he, he, this is,

this season has really hurt his legacy. I don't think it's hurt LeBron's other than the pressure that LeBron put to bring in Russell Westbrook. And to your point, we know Rubon is not the GM, but he has final say on all of these things. He is consulted at the highest level on all of these moves. Going into the season with the oldest roster in the league,

you had to expect some injuries. You've got to bring in some young guys, some talented young guys. Even if you don't like playing with young guys, that's just not going to work when you have this much age. And most importantly, and I feel like Groundhog Day saying this,

Anthony Davis who is not healthy once again. And whether it's his fault this year or not or luck or whatever it is, this is a part of who Anthony Davis is. He doesn't want to play his natural position. He's constantly injured. Yes, he is a superstar when he's healthy and available, when he's healthy and available. And that brings you down to me.

Like you can't build a team around someone who is not physically reliable. No. You're going to end up in this situation, which is why LeBron is playing the men. minutes that he's playing and scoring the way he's having to score because he's the guy. This is it. He's the only one. Yeah.

So I feel like it's obviously a bad situation for the Lakers. I think there's plenty of blame to go around and the roster is going to look a lot different next year as it should. But I think it's also a good lesson in delegating to the proper people what decisions should be made and not pushing for things because you want them for personal reasons or to prove something. it's got to make basketball sense. And the pieces have to fit personality-wise.

There's enough as evidence with Russell Westbrook at this point that he is not a winning player. Is he a great player? Is he a all-time great player? Has he been incredible to watch? Yes. But this year has been devastating to his legacy. It's been bad. Oh, really bad.

No one's going to forget this. Bluper reels are made daily about his miss shots and his turnovers. He could have smoothed it over if he had some accountability for it. and there's been almost no accountability overall. But I do feel for Lakers fans, it's been a rough go for you guys. You guys are. Actually, I take it back. You guys are fine.

Yeah, championship two years ago. Stop. But we demand excellence every year. I know. Every year. I know. That's Alex Curry with the news. Well, that's the news.

It's March Madness. The tournament is rolling. And there's already been some very dramatic upsets, which is to be expected. Although I don't think anybody really expected the Kentucky one. That was like kind of a stretch. Are we still on that? I thought we're congratulating. Yeah, congratulations to St. Peter's right.

We're congratulating St. Pete. Well, let's go out to Sherry Burris host and reporter for CBS Sports Network. She will be there in New Orleans covering the final four, one of my favorite cities in the country. We were just talking about it in the break, how much we love New Orleans, and that's going to be a great scene. I have some food recommendations for you. I have some restaurant recommendations for what you like. Send them on over. I will.

It's great. Oysters, if you love oysters. Duh. Sherry, it's obviously been wild already. Who were in your final four and how destroyed is your bracket? I'm sure it's taken some hits like everyone else. Yeah, it's ready to go in the shredder here. So I had Gonzaga, Arizona, Kentucky.

Auburn. So so far it's it's pretty intact but once Kentucky losses you guys were talking about I'm just ready to just rip up my bracket. It can be chaos and I'm just going to go all in and just enjoy March Madness. Yeah, that's where I'm at too. I'm just watching from now on. I also had Iowa making a bit of a run as well. So that's done also. But who do you have winning? I have Gonzaga. I do too. I think you're right. This is going to be a tough run for them, but we know Gonzaga is really good. the number one overall seat for the second year in a row, not to mention they're going for back to back national championships. So seeing how their experience and Drew Timmy,

can't wait to see more of Chet Holmgren, I think this is going to be their year. I actually like that they're coming into this year, not undefeated as well. I think there's a little bit of a pressure, a little extra sauce when you're coming into a tournament you haven't lost yet. So we say this every year with Gonzaga, but I do feel like this is the year that they'll be able to get

done. Who are you keeping an eye on for most outstanding player? I think Chet Holmgram, I mean, seven foot freshman, the numbers he put up yesterday were incredible. Some of those numbers were so good they haven't been seen since Anthony Davis in 2012. Not to mention, I would love to see the videotape. Have you seen his dad sits in the stands with a camcorder, like the little handheld one, and records all of his videos? I want to see the footage of what dad is getting from the stand. So that's, you know, a little emotional side of it, too. But also Colin Gillespie is someone I'm keeping an eye out for. One, the national championship as a freshman, bringing that experience now as a senior, grad senior.

So to see what he can do since, again, kind of like in Kentucky, everyone knows there's a target on Villanova. So I kind of, those are the two guys for sure. I'm keeping my eye on. We're talking to Sherry Burr's CBS Sports. Yeah, me and Alex both were like, oh, that's so scary. But that's what makes the tournament so amazing. for, you know, both of these tournaments, women's and men's, is just the emotional side of it.

You get to see the stories. You get to learn about these amazing players and their families and, you know, in programs that always, of course, have upsets. And speaking of what upset has shocked you so far. Oh, for sure. St. Peters yesterday. I didn't even know where it was. I had to Google that.

You know, they're in New Jersey. Snaps to them. I think I saw on Twitter, their school website, like the athletic page, went down because so many people were searching for them last night. But that's what makes this the best time of year, particularly these two days, all these games, all the chances for upsets. I think Jay Wright said it before Selection Sunday. What makes this year so special is the fact that we didn't have this type of tournament with the fans in two years. So it's a reminder of what we didn't have.

So that makes it even more special. And I hate being wrong. So filling out a bracket is actually really difficult for me. I struggle every year, but like I said, just bring on the chaos, rip it to shreds. I just want to sit and enjoy a lot of college basketball. So, Sherry, me and Alex have decided we're just going to focus on the nice story part of the St. Peter's upset over Kentucky. But, you know, the internet had a little fun with it yesterday at, you know, Coach Cowell's expense. Do you think this is a ding on Coach Cowell's legacy?

I would have to imagine it wouldn't be. I mean, again, they're a blue blood. This is, we expect upsets to happen in March Madness. You do not expect an upset from Coach Cala Perry squad. Such as is not a thing. They're blue bloods through and through in the tournament. They are always a contender. So the fact that they lost in the first round, it's not going to be as bad as Virginia.

That's the 116. But this is definitely going to be like, oh, Coach Cal is so good. But do you remember 2020? They lost to who? Oh, say, what's he? Like, you're not to Google who they lost to. kudos to St. Peter's 100%. But it's going to be more remembered that Coach Cal lost and not necessarily that they won.

So what upset do you see happening today? I'm going with Virginia Tech. I'm riding with the Hokies here. They already beat Duke for the conference tournament. Wentham is a real thing. I am 100% sold on it. So the fact that they've won four in a row, I think they're going to be able to carry this into March. And I just, I actually have them losing in the second round.

but that's going to be my one for today. Which underdog do you have making a run in the tournament? I had, well, I don't know they're really underdogs, but I had UCLA making a long run in Iowa. Iowa's already out. So what underdog do you expect to make a run? I do like UCLA. I have them making a pretty good run too after what they did last year.

But I'm a Wisconsin badger. So I had to do one bracket and fill it out with my heart. And I have the badgers winning it all. I don't know who in this election committee likes Wisconsin as much all of badger. nation to put us in Milwaukee in the first round. Last time that happened was 2014. We went to the final four. I'm just saying it seems like history has a chance to repeat itself, but that's just a badger in me. Well, like, Alex asked me and the rest of us this week what your strategy was for

filling out the bracket. And I told her, I do a little research and then I just go with my gut because it's probably going to bust in the first day. And it did. And I had Kentucky in my final four. So now my bracket is useless. So we just get to enjoy the stories now. I mean, that's how you have to do it. You got to, in some ways, you just have to go with your gut. I almost had my almost one year old pick. Just like put the team name on like the jar or pouch of food and see which one she went with. But we might have to get, get there when she's a little bit older. Yeah, do it next year and then and put it on, put it on TikTok and then we'll see how it goes. She probably actually will do better. That's what I'm saying. It's like it's the odds are just, yeah, go.

I think Aaron Rogers and Russell Wilson have quite a bit of pressure on them moving forward. I don't know how he thinks there's a lot of pressure on Russell Wilson and there's not any pressure on Aaron Rogers. Well, he's Aaron Rogers' hype boy. The highest guy. He's hype man. He's his hype man. That's why. He's not like that. I mean, he's he likes Aaron Rogers, yes. Look, Aaron Rogers should be talented. No one's taking anything

away from him when it comes to that back-to-back MVP. But at some point, you got to start doing it in the postseason again, and they haven't been doing that, which we will discuss a little bit more on the other side, why I don't think that the Green Bay Packers are really in Super Bowl contention next year.
