Here we go, our number two on a Friday. Live in L.A., it's the heard. Wherever you may be, however you may be listening. High Heart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1. You know, last week I had a winning record, thanks to the Rams win on Monday. So it's back to back to back, three and two, three and two, three and two, on a little bit of a roll. and so I feel America deserves my betting acumen here, although I will tell you, I don't feel good about any of these games. There's one game I think is probably the best bet, and I go into it with reservations, but I never like all the favorites.

I just, that's not, I tend to be, and I've told you this, I tend to be, you know this, you've seen this for several years. If you can give me a competent quarterback in the NFL in points, I always took it. And then everything changed. is now so quarterback led that every division won by the best quarterback. Yep. The best quarterback outside of one game, won every game last week. It used to be quarterback was valuable. But if I had the second best quarterback and I got points, I felt pretty good about it.

I don't anymore. Just give me the best quarterback. Best quarterback wins. So in most instances. So I've got, it's just interesting. I'll give you my picks and tell you what I think. But as Joy Taylor that you heard her voice on radio, all of these odds are provided by Fox Bet Sportsbook, Joy.

So are you ready for this? I am ready for your blazing four. All right, here we go. Bengals and Titans. I'm going to take the Titans. Cincinnati's banged up, and Mike Vrable, like great coaches, is better off a by. He's 4-0 as a head coach off a buy. They're 11 and 2 when A.J. Brown plays and 6 and 2 when Derek Henry plays.

Go back and look at the stats. The first eight weeks with Derek Henry. He was unstoppable. The Bingle's defense is banged up. Joe Burroughs the most sack quarterback in the NFL. Six more times than any other quarterback. It's the worst O-line left in the playoffs. In the Bingle's offense, the O-line was rated 20th.

I don't think you can win multiple playoff games with the worst O-line in the playoffs. As much as I love Burrell, I'll take the Titans to win and cover 2823. 49ers at Packers. Have no strong vibes on this. this would be my weakest pick, but I'll take the Packers minus five and a half. Sedaria Smith may play, Jaya or Alexander may play, David Bacdiari should play.

Green Bay doesn't beat themselves. They were the least penalized team in the league. They had the fewest giveaways in the league. So if you don't beat yourself, I don't see Jimmy Garoppolo going to Lambo and beating them. Since week two, Aaron Rogers is first or second in every stat you can see for yourself in the league. Garoppolo, and I like him more than most, but in his playoff career, Jimmy Garapolo completes 54% of his throws in the second half off script and is a 49 passer rating. He can struggle second half against great playoff teams.

I'm going to take Green Bay with no conviction to win and cover 3124. Rams at Buccaneers I like the Bucks to win in cover, although I do worry about Tampa Bay's beat up center Ryan Jensen and Tristan Werf's right tackle. That is problematic for a quarterback that doesn't love getting hit and is not overly mobile. But the Bucks are 10 and 0 when they win the turnover battle, 8 and 0 at home this year, and Tom's been in this game so many times.

Look at Tom's number in divisional round home playoff games. He's 12 and 1. He wins this game. He wins this game. Matthew Stafford is going to be asked to throw over 30 times. He threw 17 last week. They will not have great success running. Stafford throwing 30, 35 times worries me on the road.

He had 17 picks. Again, I say this with very little conviction. I really worry about Ryan Jensen being hurt, the center for Tampa. If that's the case, and you go to a backup against Aaron Donald, and you go to a backup with Tristan Wurst with Vaughn Miller, this could be a choppy, ugly, low-scoring game, and that gives the Rams great hope. but I'll take Tampa 2721.

Bills at Chiefs. This would be my strongest play. Maybe I'll bet a little. I would take Kansas City minus one and a half. They're number one in scoring. Again, let's look at how Patrick Mahomes has done in this spot in his career. As a home playoff quarterback, 120 passer rating. Josh Allen tends to spike and then drop.

The bills are 0 and 5 in games decided by a possession. So all their wins are Mike Tyson early knockouts. You get into strategy, you could beat Tyson. You get into strategy, you want a refined, strategic close game. That's not built for Buffalo, and I don't see Kansas City getting blown out. Again, if you look at Josh Allen this year, he follows up these great games with a pullback game. Would I be shocked if he does something like hurdle players like he did last time? I would not.

This would be my strongest play. Kansas City winning. I think it's high scoring, though. Both defenses are more than capable. I don't think it's the shootout everybody thinks. 3327, but there'll be plenty of great defensive plays, and that's my blazing four. And I just took four favorites, and I've never done that. And so, God help all of us.

I just, I really, Kansas City is my strongest play. Tampa's two. The other ones, you're on your own. All right, Eric Mangini, three Super Bowls with a Patriots, Fox Sports. I mean, you saw it, I don't know. I mean, I'll say this. The one thing I like about Tennessee is that when we talk about great coaches in this league, a lot of times we leave Mike Vrable off it.

They don't lose off-bys. They are always good against good teams. I think Tennessee is, maybe it's because we think in Nashville as a college football hub or something, or I don't know what it is, but I think we have to start putting Mike Vrabel, and you know him really well from New England. I think we start to have to elevate him in that top five, six coaching circle, because that's what I'm seeing. They're meticulously prepared.

They lose Derek Henry and slow down at all. Yeah, Mike Brable, I've told you this before, was one of the smartest guys that I've ever coached. His recall is amazing. And then he's tough. He's resilient. He's a hard worker. his team reflects that. And when you look at what they've been able to do, and they're

completely, at this point, almost disrespected as a number one seat, what a great position for him to be in. I like the things that they've done defensively to improve throughout the course of the season. And he has so much confidence in himself. You know, you bring in a guy, former head coach like Jim Schwartz, this off season to add to the best guy, Jim Haslett, But there's some firepower on the defensive side. And I think that he is underrated and is going to be successful for a long, long time. I win a lot of Super Bowl.

Yeah, no, I think Mike's just, and he's got that Mike Tomlin. He's got like kind of an alpha where he steps in front of men, and you can totally see the buy-in from his players, completely see the buy-in. He's an absolute alpha, but he's also a great teammate and a great team player. player. He's not going to take anything from anybody, but he's going to do whatever you ask him to do during the course of the game to help you be successful. It's a great mix of characteristics. Only thing I worry about Green Bay, because I just show the stats, they don't beat themselves. So San Francisco is going to have to beat them, and they did outplay them earlier in the year,

but it was a different time. Matt LaFlewer is on a buy. This is about as healthy as Green Bay's been. I do worry a little about Green Bay's run defense. I see. I saw, Cleveland just through four picks and was going for the win. I can see a scenario in which on a very cold day that San Francisco's just gets in the octagon and just gets into a fight and just says, you know what, four and a half yards, I can see that. Does that worry you at all? Yeah, to me, that's the biggest worry. San Francisco's had, what, 150 yards rushing in six out of the last 10 games and Green Bay is giving up

4.7 yards of carry. And San Francisco is more than willing to stay with the running game and more than patient to do that. And now it keeps Aaron Rogers off the field. And if you can do that consistently, you got a chance. Plus, they're hardened. They've been playing playoff games for a while now. They had to play their way in. They'd been on the road. Green Bay has been off. They're facing a salty team that's been hardened by the way they got in that could create problems. You know, the other thing I was talking about is Aaron has, there's been a lot of drama this year around him, some of it self-induced, and whenever you brag in life, it does put pressure on you.

And I could see a situation where, you know, there's going to be some people if Aaron loses. They can't wait to chop him down. The Vax crowd, the Packer front office, the media. I could see a scenario. I doubt it, but I could see it where this thing is close late, and Green Bay gets a little tight. I mean, San Francisco at this point, they're moving off Garoppolo. This is a lot of house money.

Have you ever been in a big playoff game, winner-lose with New England? And you felt a little tight as a heavy favorite. The nice thing about our experience is we had Tom Brady. So it was a little bit easier to not feel as tight. defensively, you knew if you gave him an opportunity, he was going to win the game for you. And then you also weren't tight because you know how well you prepared and how hard you worked to get there. And I think that gives you a lot of confidence going into the game knowing

you weren't outworked, you weren't out prepared, you've done everything you can to get there. And you also have Tom Brady. So that helped that helped to alleviate the pressure. All right. Rams at Buccaneers. I like Tampa, but it's a, If you told me Ryan Jensen gets hurt in the second quarter, I'm like, all right, bets are off. Because the Aaron Donald would just completely manipulate the interior of the Bucson. Ryan Jensen will struggle to block him, and he's a pro-bow level player. So I am worried about that. And also, Tristan Wirfs is over 300 pounds.

Big guys with ankle injuries, those things don't go away in five days. Like, that's going to be a problem a month after the off season. He's a big dude. It was a severe ankle injury. He's a tough guy. When he pulls himself out of the game, Tristan Worcels. versus hurt. Same with Jensen, by the way. Those guys were hurt. Doesn't that worry you a little bit? Yeah, it worries me more than a little bit. It worried me a lot because Tom's always had problems

with D-lines that can get there with four guys. And now you've got your center and a tackle that are hurt and you've got guys filling in offensively at skill positions that don't have anywhere near the experience as the group that you won with last year and that you won with for the majority of this year. So it's not like you've got all of these go-to guys that you can get the ball out quick to because they're just going to be in the right spot because you've worked together for so long. That to me is problematic as well. And look, Matthew Stafford played really well the last time they played through, what, four touchdowns? Yeah. If this becomes a high-scoring game or he can get ahead of the, get ahead of the sticks.

It could be really tough for Todd. Okay, so I said my best pick of the week, and I said it with very little confidence, you know, Mahomes at home in the playoffs has just been a different player. He's been a better version of himself. But, I mean, Josh Allen is such a wild card. I mean, I went back this morning, and I YouTubeed the first time they played. Josh Allen's jumping over people. He's throwing, I mean, it's just an insane talent.

Who do you like? Because I think a lot of people like Buffalo, I think. Yeah, I like Buffalo too. And I heard you're talking about it with your picks, if they can play the game on their terms. And to me, Josh Allen is unique in the sense that he can run those quarterback-driven runs and they're meaningful and it changes the way

that you have to approach Buffalo defensively. He's the only quarterback remaining who can do that. So if they're not behind by two scores or even more and they can stay within the game plan. I think that gives them the best chance. You know, last year when they lost, they also didn't do very well in the red zone. They were two for five in the red zone.

If they'd been good this year in terms of converting touchdowns in the red zone, and they were good the first time they play this year, that's going to be another big part of this game is how well they can convert when they're down there. And I'd say defensively, are you going to keep Patrick Mahomes in the pocket? are we going to watch him get out and make big play after big play? That to me is the kiss of death for Buffalo's defense. Oh, boy.

Maybe I like Buffalo. I don't even know. You're right, Com. It's hit or miss with the quarterback. It's up one week. It's down the other. But look, I have a lot of confidence in Brian Dayball. They played multiple times, so I think that helps as well.

Okay, so Josh McDaniels, who you know well, I think he was a quarterback coach or something when you were there when he was a kid. I was doing something in New England. Raiders job. He's out there. I think you like the Raiders this year way more than I did, and you were right. I had this team as a gutter ball, a fourth place team, and you before the season said they're going to be a playoff team, so you deserve credit. And I do think they have really nice offensive pieces.

Colton Miller, Hunter Renfro, Darren Waller, Josh Jacobs, Derek Carr. Josh McDaniels. Would he leave? Because I know he likes his current job. We know that. He's turned down offers. You think that's a good fit for him? Well, Josh is in a position where he realizes his next head coaching job is going to be his last.

And he wants to make sure that whatever job he takes is right and makes sense and gives him the best chance to truly be successful. And he likes where he is and he can stay there for a long time. He's got a good young quarterback. So if the owner is willing to do the things that Josh is looking for or allow him to do the things that he wants to do, I think it could be a really good fit. Look, we all make mistakes the first time we do something. And Josh made mistakes as a head coach. But that shouldn't necessarily be looked at as a negative.

I think there's a lot of positives in that too because you have time to reflect. You go back to being a coordinator. and the next opportunity, you're a lot better than you were the first opportunity. By the way, we had you on last week before the Cowboys game, talking about the Cowboys and you didn't trust them. Here's a soundbite before the game from Eric Mangini. A lot concerned me. I've watched them a ton throughout the course of the season,

and it's a self-inflicted wound. It's being last-man-league in penalties. At one point, they were last in the league and drop passes, mental errors with the offensive line, mistroth, all those things, the time management issues, where they get in the way of themselves. And that, to me, is a problem.

Well, well, well, you appeared to be very accurate. The 14 penalty cowboys. It was more of the same, was it not? It was exactly what concerned you. It's so frustrating. And I read some comments where they're going to make penalties a priority. next season. It's got to be a priority during the season if you're last in the league.

And when you continually kill yourself with mistakes that you are completely in control. And how many of those penalties were pre-snap penalties? It's just a function of discipline. And it's so frustrating to underachieve when you could control those factors so much better than they did. Yeah. All right. He likes the bills. He's starting to talk me into it. I don't know. All right. Eric, by the way, Cleveland got buried with snow this week. It was 72 in my house, but nonetheless, I wish the very best for you going forward. Must be nice. Two feet, two feet. Charming. All right, great stuff, coach. Eric, man.

The ratings were great, but it was a little bit of a bummer because you had such anticipation for the games, and three of the games were just awful, just like bad games. So I never try to get my hopes up too much. And there have been times where a game meets the standards. That is rare, though.

A lot of the greatest games are ones you never suspect. I mean, and a lot of times the games you have great hope for are blowouts. So I'm not getting too hyped up for Buffalo, Kansas City. It can't be as good as I think. But I remember years ago, I used to call them big sandwich games. When I like to make a big sandwich, I'm going to sit down. down for three hours. And it was the Notre Dame hosting USC, the Matliner at Reggie Bush. That was like 15 years ago. And that game was getting so much press. It was Charlie Weiss.

It was Pete Carroll. And Notre Dame let the grass grow. So it was like playing in a farm. You know, it was like the British Open rough. I mean, they, because USC was so fast. And Notre Dame was trying to equalize it. And there was just a lot of game playing going on. And it was literally the great. three and a half hours in the fall I've ever spent. It was insane. The whole thing was nail-biting pressure. I'm trying to think this year, like I, Green Bay at San Francisco, we thought would be really interesting because San Francisco had clobbered the Packers a couple of times. And this Green Bay team, we thought, was better. That game ended up being, I think it was a Thursday

night game or a standalone game. When the Packers, Aaron Rogers, made that throw, that was a great game. That was one of those. Are you talking about Arizona? No, no, I'm talking. No, Arizona Green Bay was fantastic. That was a good one. But when Aaron Rogers made that throw to beat the Niners this year, was that a standalone game? For some reason, I think it was.

It was either a Sunday night game. Sunday night football. That one I thought, this will be interesting because Aaron owes those guys a couple. And then I remember after that thinking that was as good a game as I had hoped. Arizona Green Bay was fantastic. I mean, well, we got robbed of Chiefs. Packers. That's right.

I mean, some of the best games I saw this year, Cincinnati hosting Green Bay in the 1 o'clock window went to overtime. It was just a bunch of mistakes and there was crazy wind and people kept missing kicks. I'm like, God, if that had been a Sunday night game, it was one of the most dramatic games I saw a year. It was a 1 o'clock window game. The wind was terrible in Cincinnati. And remember, Crosby, the kicker for the Packers, kept missing field goal.

It would have been on a Monday night. It would have been the most talked about game in a month. We should do a list of the best game. this season. Because that Patriots Bill's game where Mac only threw three passes was I mean it was so weird but it was fascinating. It was. Joy with the news.

No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, Odell has become an important part of the Rams offense since joining the team in November. He's worked through the narrative that he's been a problem for his former teams. And Jalen Ramsey came to his defense

and praise him for being a great teammate. Obviously, he's gifted from God. He's very talented, very, has a whole lot of skill set, but just his competitive nature, his will and want to be great. And then, you know, he's kind of misunderstood, too. He's a really good teammate, and people kind of don't have that message out about him, but he really is a really good teammate. He's just super competitive and wants to be great. I want everybody around him to be great. So that's just the type of guy he is.

I don't really think that that narrative is surrounded Odell since he's left New York. I think that was kind of something that he left New York with to some degree. But I thought he was a good soldier in Cleveland. I don't think that he was tearing the locker room apart or making crazy demands. I think he always said the right thing. He was generally really quiet about the whole experience in Cleveland until the end. I thought in his last year there, year and a half, I never thought he was disruptive. He had an injury.

He did get a weird case of the drops, and I've always thought he has great hands. It was a classic case of, and I underestimated, the power of culture. He is literally a different player in Los Angeles. He's more confident. Just look at the numbers from his time in Cleveland this year. I said this earlier this week. The percentage of players in this league that would be great regardless of the coach, T.J. Watt. Aaron Donald.

I mean, I mean, it's a small number. It's a very small number. Even Stefan Diggs would need a quarterback. Well, especially at the reliant positions, a quarterback or a wide receiver, like positions where you really need the system to be working well, you need a bunch of

other pieces to be in place. Debo Samuel will be good anywhere. He's obviously with Kyle Shanahan. He puts him in positions to succeed. But most players need some solid environment to flourish. Also, O'Dell is very unique player because he is a, he's a, he's a one-nameer.

When you're a one-nameer, you come with certain expectations. You have certain pressure. There's a, there's a pressure on other people to get you the ball. Fans are paying more attention to you. There's more attention from the media. It's just different for O'Dell, for Brady, for Rogers, like Lamar. There are just, there's different levels of pressure on him. and he's an NBA player in the NFL.

Like he's just a star outside of the sport. So the expectations are going to be different. But I don't think that I don't think that him being a bad teammate has been the story on him. I mean, that's not what I'm seeing. Maybe people are still talking about that, but I don't think of O'Dell is a bad teammate. I think he was in a bad situation with a bad fit in Cleveland.

And now he's obviously in a good situation, in a good fit with the Rams. And also, I don't know this. You could look it up. How old is O'Dell Beckham? So we have to realize with professional sports, these are 20-year-old men. So, O'Dell, he's 29.

So when he acted up a little in New York, he's like 24. Yeah. He was a 24-year-old multimillionaire in America's biggest city. And one of the most famous athletes in the world at the time. Yeah. So five years later, being humbled in Cleveland, shocking. He's buttoned up a little bit more. He sees the world differently.

Like, we forget this all the time. At 24 years old, if I'd have been making $20 million a year, I'd have lived on licorice, peanut brittle, and no sleep. Like the reality is, is he's a different person than five years ago because he's got a good culture. He's been humbled. He's been hurt a little bit. Yeah, I mean, he's an older man now. He's a grown up.

He's a kid on the way. He's just, he's a different guy. But I don't think that that's been the story on him for a while. I think people are generally rooting, and I've always been rooting for O'Dell because we missed seeing this version of him. We miss seeing the spectacular O'Dell. So Josh Allen is obviously very dangerous throwing the ball, but he is a great runner as well in Tyrone Matthew, so the chiefs need to be prepared to change their defensive strategy

against Allen when he takes off to run. He's a great athlete, you know, obviously a guy that can make all the throws. And, you know, anytime he's using his legs, it seems like, you know, it's to his advantage. I think anytime he, you know, decides to tuck and run the ball, you know, we just have to treat him like a running back, treat him like, you know, one of these wide receivers where, you know, all 11 guys, you know, have to pursue and get to the ball.

And, you know, I think it's going to be one of those games where, you know, we're going to have to tackle him and going to have to tackle him well. He is right. Josh Allen has rushed for 763 yards this season. He's third amongst quarterbacks behind Jalen Hertz and Lamar Jackson. And the Chiefs are 21st in rushing guards allowed per game, 21st in the NFL with 117.6. What's amazing about some of these runs, that's not one of them.

But in a lot of these runs, it's well. defended. Well, that's the issue with the running quarterback is that you, when you're a dual threat quarterback, truly a dual threat quarterback like Josh Allen is, like someone like Patrick Mahomes is, where you can cannon arm it down the field, throw it 40 yards on a rope, but also take off and get these huge chunk yards. It's almost impossible to defend because you can't just give up receivers and defend him like he's only going to be running. It's really tough thing to defend. Now, if they can keep him from running and force him. him to throw the ball, I think that's where you'll get into the situation where he could have

one of those down games where he turns the ball over. This could come down to if they're both playing well, who wins the turnover battle? It could be one of those games. Like, whoever has that final possession will end up winning the game if it comes down to a shootout, like I am anticipating it is. I know it's very up and down with Josh Allen, but maybe I'm just wishful thinking because I just want this game to be as good as it's billed to be. But I think it will be. So the Lakers season has not been going very well. Recently, Frank Vogel has been put in the hot seat, and Russell Westbrook has taken a lot of blame for his poor performances, and Charles Barkley doesn't think that they need to be the

scapegoats. The Lakers are such wussies, and I only say wussies because I can't say the word I want to say. I know. The way they have trying to throw Russell Westbrook and Frank Vogel onto the bus is just really pissing me off. The people up top who put that trash together are running and hiding like. Howard's saying, oh, it's Frank, it's Russ. You put all them old geeseers out there.

It's ridiculous, man. Well, Chuck has had it. Westbrook addressed being benched against the Pacers. He said, I was disappointed. I didn't go back in, but I'm more disappointed that we lost the damn game. I want to be on the floor to help my teammates and be able to help them win in games like that, but that was a decision that was made. By the way, I said the Pacers were awful, and then I watched some of the Warriors game last

night, and did they win? I didn't see the very end of it. They were given the Warriors' fits. The Pacers beat the Warriors. Warriors and the Lakers. So I was like, because I don't bet NBA much. I would have bet the Warriors big Lat. They were like 14 point favorites.

I was like, oh, they're going to get. And I turned it on late and I'm like, you got to be kidding me. Yeah, I wonder if Steve Kerr has to get his lineups approved by someone now that they lost to the Pacers. Yeah, what did it go? Was it in overtime? Because I turned it on it. Oh, they went to overtime. Okay.

Yeah. How about that? No, I mean, look, the situation with the Lakers isn't great right now. but I slightly agree with him about Westbrook. I do think that Westbrook has been way more disruptive than I anticipated he would be. He's obviously not a winning player and he hasn't been able to adjust his game in any way to fit with the team needs him to be. But to, I guess in his defense, and we've talked about this a lot, he's what he's always been. So maybe it's on the Lakers that they expected him to come in and be able to adjust and he's just doing what he's always done.

The question to me is not Frank Vogel Because Frank Vogel is not Bringing in a new coach Is not going to make this team five years younger It's not going to fix the The rotation problems Because whoever it is that's actually Picking the rotations above Frank Vogel

Is the one responsible for it If Frank Vogel has to check with someone What his lineup can be at the end of the game Then whoever that person is is the one that's messing the lineup up I don't know why fans can't figure this out The reason that that story's out That the head coach Has to clear his end-of-game lineup

with someone, the head coach cannot be responsible for the lineups. That's how it works. Like there's someone else in charge to Chuck's point that is disrupting all this. But to me, it comes down to the same thing it's always come down to for the Lakers from the beginning of the season. Anthony Davis is not healthy. How can you evaluate this team without its second star? All you have is LeBron playing at an MVP level pouring his heart and soul out to this

team every single night and you don't have a second star. So you can be mad about Frank Vogel. you can be mad about Russell Westbrook. It doesn't matter. Anthony Davis is supposed to be the guy, and he is once again not on the floor. Yeah. I've said before the trading deadline,

I don't think it's crazy, because this is not a championship team. I don't think it's crazy. If Anthony Davis came back before the trading deadline, I gave him six or seven games he looked good, moving Anthony Davis. I don't think it's- able to move Russell Westbrook.

That's impossible. Yeah, no, no, I don't think it's crazy. I... It will never happen. He's getting more hurt every year. Like, every year it's getting worse. It will never happen because we know all the logistics of that team and that's not going to happen.

But I don't know why anyone is confused as to why the Lakers are where they are. It's pretty simple. Anthony Davis, your second star, cannot stay healthy. What do you expect? Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The herd line.

get your podcasts. So, uh, this is very interesting. Jerry Jones owns Adel's Cowboys. And immediately after that debacle, where they had 14 penalties, were disorganized messed. Even the fake punt at work was a mess. You know, Jerry immediately after the game said, you're very, very happy with a coach. Aikman's come out and ripped him since. Michael Irvin's come out and ripped him.

Like people he likes knows and paid and trusts. So people in Jerry's circle are ripping him. I said the last couple of days, I'm not in that circle, obviously. Like Jerry's really smart. The owners listen to Jerry. Jerry is influential. Jerry Jones. among owners in the NFL.

So when other billionaires stop talking and listen to you and you have influence, he's a very influential guy. But I think he's getting conned here a little. I think he got conned by Mr. Analytics, who later acknowledged that he didn't really do everything he said in the interview. I think this team is a penalty-clogged mess. I think the sidelines look chaotic. He's won 61% of his games, which sounds great,

except for he had Fav Aaron Rogers and he has coached the best quarterback three different times in dysfunctional divisions. Fav and Rogers were easily the best quarterbacks in a bad division and DAC is

easily the best quarterback in this division. So 61% it's not the same. Bill Parcells has won 57%, but it's considered, he's a Hall of Famer. By the way, great book written about him. Parcells is one of the great thinkers in the history of the league of coach.

And so Jerry Jones, all these people now weighing in on him. He talked today and it's going to be an interesting weekend. Here he was. If I thought changing out men at any level would improve us, I would change it out. I've looked around. I see a lot of names, a lot of great names, a lot of great names from colleges, a lot of great name. I see them coming through. I've seen a lot of great names at various duties in the NFL come and go over the last 30 years. Bottom line is, yes, I'm very, very frustrated and upset

that we can call it COVID. You can call it anything. But we have used up some very talented players over the last few years. Well, yeah. Now, Zeke is no longer a great running back. Okay, last couple years were an opportunity. Tyron Smith at left tackle, you're not getting 16, 17 games out of him. How long Michael Gallup's now going to be gone? Amari Cooper is getting older. So now you do have Michael Parsons and Trayvon Diggs. So the defensive side of the ball, your stars are young, mostly young.

But this is an offensive league now. And a lot, those years where you didn't pay DAC anything, now you're paying DAC big boy money. Now Zeeke is no longer a star. We say this about when Brandon Staley lost that game to the Raiders on some of that analytic stuff I don't love. The real problem of that is beyond the loss is you're not paying Justin Herbert anything yet. You only got two more years of that. When you're not paying your quarterback anything, those are the years you can, Jared Gough, you bring in Russell Wilson before they paid him.

They were bringing in Cliff Avril, Percy Harvin. They had a stacked roster. Cleveland's not paying Baker much. Look at their roster. You can bring in Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, the right tackle from Tennessee. You can do that John Johnson, the safety. So there's a couple of times in the NFL where you've got to strike when the iron's hot. Number one is you have a quarterback who's good on a rookie deal.

Justin Herbert's excellent. Joe Burrow. You're not paying them anything yet. You've got to win now because you can go get free agents. You can't afford when you pay them. And the second time is when you have stars, you have a veteran quarterback like a, you know, like a Garoppolo or a DAC. and you've got really good stars in their prime,

but they're trending toward older, right? Like they're trending, like, Tray Lance, George Kittle, because he's been hurt so much, it's probably moving out of his prime. Trey Lance, San Francisco is going to have a quarterback that are not paying, and George Kittle, next couple of years are probably his best, last two great years. A little pressure, right?

You got the combo of both. So, Dak, Tyron Smith isn't the same. Zeke isn't the same. Gallup's now gone. You're not going to be able to keep that tight end. Schultz, he's going to go to the free agent market. The last couple years, now, DAC was hurt, obviously, last year,

but this was a big year. By the way, the NFC East is still terrible. Like this, this is Stafford's first year with the Rams. If you look around, I mean, Aaron, Rogers and Brady were always going to be formidable. But there's arguments to be made. This was a really big year. This offense next year, they're going to lose their top tight end. Gallup's not back.

I think they bring back Amari, but we'll see. And Zieg's probably gone. Offensive lines getting outside of Zach Martin. It's getting older. So I think Jerry's seeing that. Just stay away from Lincoln Riley. Hire anybody else you want. Just stay away from him.

Here's the other thing. So the Raiders, Josh McDaniels, is up for the job with the Raiders. So he went to Denver. I would never let him touch personnel. He loved Tebow. So if I can figure out Tebow doesn't work in the NFL and you couldn't, I don't want you touch in personnel. And I think the Broncos' GM is great.

So I think the Broncos job has a great roster, but no quarterback. I think the Raiders have a good roster, but an excellent quarterback. But with Josh McDaniel, if you're a Raider fan, he's a little like Lane Kiffin. They're very similar. One now in college flourishing, one now in the NFL flourishing. If you look at them, sometimes they look a little bit alike. They had a disastrous NFL head coaching stint, Denver and the Raiders. They got, I would say, a little off-putting personality to some.

They're offensive-minded. Their dads were kind of coaching legends. Josh's dad's like a coaching legend, I think, in Ohio. Both of them played college football. Josh was a wide receiver. Lane was a quarterback at Fresno State. They left a head coaching job poorly. Remember Lane bailed on Tennessee after about 45 minutes?

And McDaniels agreed to the job of the Colts, then backed out bad look. That scares athletic directors and owners. They work with football geniuses that really rehabilitated their image. I mean, after that Colts thing, you go back to New England, Josh has resurrected his reputation. Saban resurrected Lanes. And they were part of dynasties in the early 2000s. Josh was, I think, a quarterback coach with Belichick when he was a kid.

And, you know, Lane was part of that USC dynasty with he and Pete Carroll and Sark and all those guys. So it's very similar in both. And there's also something about both that sometimes would make an athletic director in college or an owner or GM a little skittish, which is their personality. Are they all in? Are they all in? Because with Lane, you think Ole Misses the last gig? I don't. And with Josh, like, he can always go back to Belichick.

He can get any O.C. job he wants. The minute he feels like I'm not getting supported. So I would have no problem hiring him. I honestly do think that Rich Passaccia, I think I would give him the job. The more we'd, he did, Rich Passachia did three things that were really impressive as an interim coach. And a lot of interim coaches, as we told you yesterday, Mark, Marv Levy, Marty Chautenammer, Don Correel. There's been a lot of successes.

Even Detroit Lions had an interim coach, Wayne Fonts, who had years and years of success. Rich Basacci with the Raiders stabilized a franchise that was a hot mess in week 9 or 10. Stabilized that immediately the following week. Not only won games, won big games, overtime, situational games. And Derek Carr and Max Crosby, their two foundational stars, love him. So I think I would go there. But I do think with Elaine Kiven or Josh McDaniel, they're kind of the same thing. You know they're brilliant offensively.

That is without Lane is a brilliant, brilliant play designer, play caller. Josh McDaniels is, I mean, look what he did with Mac Jones. I mean, Mac Jones this year hit an athletic ceiling, but was shockingly good by October. Like, he got out of the bad throw department with below average. weapons, one tight-end Hunter Henry that was dependable. So, I don't know. He's certainly hireable, I'll say that, in a year of a lot of really strong candidates. Of course, the Texans won't hire any of them, but there's a lot of strong candidates.
