Hour one just absolutely flew by live in Los Angeles. It is the herd wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Iheart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1, blazing five in a couple of minutes. Three of the last four weeks, we've had a winner. Fox Sports saluting Veterans Day. our Fox Sunday NFL kickoff show is going to be in Doha, Qatar, a two-hour pregame show, which is going to be spectacular on a base over there. There's 800 military bases around the world in 70 countries.

Isn't that remarkable? Our men and women, many active, many in reserve, sacrifice, their time for our freedoms. our liberties and we want to say thank you to all the military personnel. I'm sure that show will be very emotional on Sunday, always is, very meaningful for us and the military community. J. Mack, it is great. Did you have anybody in the military? My dad was in the military. My wife's dad and grandfather were in the military, yes. Yeah, it touches almost all of our lives, and I've got some old photos of my dad, very proud of. They're kind of the earliest photos I have of my dad. I don't have any pictures of my dad as a kid, but like 19, 20, 21 year old in the service.

It's great. So Blazing Five, we like gambling on this show. We're prone to it. JMAX had a heater of a year. I've been pretty good. And here we go. Let's blaze it up. Fire it up. It's Collins Blazing Five. Seahawks versus Buccaneers. Like it, I love it. I'll take the Seahawks. Four game winning streak all by 10 plus points. It's a young defense, getting back. better by the week. They also travel well because defenses and running games do. Their offense under Gino Smith, it's good and it's getting better. In fact, since 2021, he's averaged 72% completion rate. Only seven giveaways. A passer rating of 106. There's no story like Gino in the league,

perhaps ever. And the bucks are a mess. Worst rushing offense in the league. Dink and Dunk offense against the highly aggressive young and athletic defense. I like, like the Seahawks to win, 30 to 23, I will take the points. Broncos at Titans. I'll take the points with the Broncos plus three. Their defense is fantastic. I know you want to talk Russell Wilson. It's number two in the NFL.

This year they've been fantastic, against the run, against the pass. They are loaded all over the place. They felt they could even give up Bradley Chubb. That tells you they have athletes in that front that may not be getting the time. and Ryan Tannahills missed the last two games for Tennessee with injuries. He was held under 200 yards passing in the three games before he was hurt. This offense is lost. I've got to take the points here.

By the way, Denver's coming off a buy. Titans are coming off a road overtime loss. Rest and prep time leans Denver. I'm going to take him to win 27-21. Lions and Bears. I like the Bears minus two and a half. First of all, golf on the road, forget it. It's awful.

But this offense in the last three games with a young quarterback is on fire. 31 a game. That was a shootout against Miami. They're running the football. Therefore, take some pressure, allows Justin Fields to throw on second and five and third and three. The Bears' offense this season, when it comes to rushing percentage and rushing yards a game, is number one. And the Lions under Dan Campbell are 011 and 1 on the road, and Goff is a neat. If you give him a little wind, if you give him a little pocket trouble, he's not somebody good in crisis.

I think the Bears win 3124, and I think potentially it could get really ugly in the second half. Jaguars at Chiefs. Jags plus nine is the play here. Again, you want to talk about Trevor Lawrence. Three of the last four games, he didn't have a turnover. He's playing actually very well. He's made mistakes. He's a kid.

But all six losses for the Jags are by one possession. it's their eighth ranked offense in the league and Trevor Lawrence lead the NFL. He leads it with three games with 80 plus completion percentage. When the kid gets hot, he's hot. The Chief's defense, first of all, they're bad against the spread this year and their defense, to be honest about it. You can push it around. You can score.

I think the Chiefs win, but I think it's close. And I'm going to take the nine points, the Jags cover here, 33, 28. I think it'll be a wildly entertaining football game. A lot of points, a lot of big plays. Saints at Steelers. Steelers are coming off a buy. The Saints are on a short week. I'm going to take Pittsburgh and the points at home.

Kenny Pickett's a kid. That extra time's going to be huge for him. And Mike Tomlin off a buy is 11 and 4. So the veteran coach, the rookie quarterback, get time. T.J. Watt returns. It's a totally different defense with T.J. Watt. And right now the Saints are a mess at the most important position quarterback. Their turnover differentials, a disaster.

I just don't trust this team. I thought Monday night was, what do you do offensively after that? I'm going to take the Steelers off the by. T.J. Watt, Mike Tomlin. Kenny Pickett plays okay at home. 28 to 24. I am taking the points. How about that, J. Mack?

Say this though for the Jags Their games are entertaining They move the ball up the field Jags are entertaining They may throw a couple Red Zone picks and break your heart But Jags games are entertaining. How good is Travis E.T.N.

By the way. Oh, wow. He's just dancing on that. Remember when Urban picked him, everybody went terrible pick. There's a reason they moved the other running back. James Robinson. Yeah. He's with the Jets now.

The APN. Upgrade for James Robinson. Go from the Jags to the Jets. Come on. Yeah. Let's bring in Eric Mangini joining us live, Fox Sports. Hey, you know, when Belichick said this week, he thinks linebackers on the other team are calling out plays.

And my takeaway is, okay, that's not good. that's bad. Is that maybe a, you know, that's where you miss Josh McDaniels where you have a slick, covert offense. When I heard that story, what was your first takeaway? My first takeaway is that he probably doesn't believe that at all.

Very rarely does Bill ever say anything in a press conference that is actually what he's thinking, what he's feeling? So if he's putting out information like that, especially about his offense, then I don't think there's sincerity to it. Okay. You know, could there be an element of predictability with two guys who are feeling their way through being offensive coordinators? Yeah.

But we always did extensive self-scout. We were always pushing to make sure that we're breaking tendencies every week. It's hard for me to believe that suddenly that philosophy and that mentality has stopped. Okay, so I think Josh McDaniels is fine. I think he's going to be safe. They've had so much chaos in coaching. You're not going to fire another coach. But it's a weird game.

Jeff's Saturday? The heck of I got no idea. Let me ask you, if you were Josh McDaniels, it's no win situation, right? Like the Raiders. This is a nightmare. This is an absolute nightmare. if you're a head coach. So your team struggling, and then it's the team that you jilted, and then you're facing a head coach that has no experience in pro football or college football

as a coach who's been on the job for what, four days, five days with a first-time play caller, you've lost your tight end, you've lost your slot receiver, you're down. If you lose to these guys, regardless of the problems that you're having, the problems that you're having, the problems that you're having with ownership is going to skyrocket. This is like the money games that they play in college football. Like you lose one of those money games, it's terrible. Yeah, that's right. You lose this game.

It's terrible. Yeah. It's terrible. And you know the Colts will play hard because Saturday is a motivator, the offensive lineman, the tough guy. So you know they're going to play with their hair on fire. They're absolutely going to play with their hair on fire. And Las Vegas is facing a little bit of that other momentum

where you've got two key offensive players going on injured reserve, the mood's been down, losing three games with 17-point leads. It's totally different momentum and energy in those buildings. And Las Vegas has, they have to figure out a way to pull this out. Or there's unpredictability in the NFL. Who knows what could happen in terms of coaching changes? So when it comes to young quarterbacks, I tend to break their seasons up into like quarters. Like let me watch Justin Field for six games.

Then let me watch them for the next six. And then the final five. So over the last three or four games, I do feel like the coordinator, Luke Getsy, is kind of figuring it out. I mean, you're figuring stuff out, right? You don't get buy weeks like college. You don't get these layup drills in college. Like you got to be ready.

and so you don't have much practice time. I do feel like they're figuring out Justin Fields. Do you think today, if I said Justin Fields, he's the guy 10 years? Are you there yet? No, not at all. I think he's the guy through this season and he'll get another opportunity next season. But this is a hard way to play football and to sustain wins. when your quarterback is more athlete than true quarterback right now,

it's hard to see that working long term. Can he develop? Can he get better? Yeah, of course he can with experience. But right now, the most effective thing he does is the quarterback-driven runs, him being such a threat in the running game that now it's creating eight-man boxes so that the passing lanes clear up. But it's not sustainable from a scheme standpoint, and it's not really sustainable from an injury standpoint to have your guy be exposed as much.

So, you know, it's when the J-MAC went crazy when the J-MAC went crazy when the J-MAC beat the bills. But the one thing you did see is the Jets generate a great pass rush without blitzing, which if you can do that in the NFL, it is really, it's the ultimate defense. Pressure, I don't, you know, San Francisco's had teams like this. It's just hard, right? They're four beating your five blocking. I always feel like Buffalo's offensive line worries me. They have no run game.

But are you watching Buffalo now and thinking less of them today than you do when the season started? Well, my concern with Buffalo has really been the last two games. And there were so many good things. But in the last two games, each one of the teams, so Green Bay averaged over six yards of carry. The Jets average over six yards of carry. The Jets were able to have a long, sustained drive running the ball. at the end of the game to help him close things out. And then you've got the Josh Allen situation where he's got four picks in the first six games,

and he's got four picks in the last five quarters. Right. Those two things are not very good. And as bad as Green Bay played, Green Bay was in it until the end. Absolutely. You know, they kick the field goal and get an onsite. Like, it should not have been that way. And in the second half, Green Bay doesn't have its two.

starting linebackers. It's not like they were loaded up and full go in that second half. And Buffalo played really poorly. And then he fast forward to the Jets. And here's another game where they're giving up over six yards of carry.

That's incredible. Yeah. All right. So it's the wristband situation. So, you know, listen, Russell wouldn't wear it in Seattle. Pete didn't like it. Most of the best quarterbacks wear it.

You know, I said there's a reason they created calculators with math. It speeds it up. And the idea that you could just bark in my headset, B-12, and I know what play it is, and you don't have to extrapolate. You know, you don't have to go on and on and on about play. I would wear a wristband. Does it bother you he didn't? He is this weekend.

What do you make of the wristband situation? Who wouldn't go into a test with a bunch of notes? If your professor allowed you to walk into every exam, with a bunch of notes and it was okay, who in the right mind wouldn't take advantage of that in order to be successful? And with the play calls, the calls are long, and they're hard to remember. And if you're trying to get it from the offensive coordinator,

and look, sometimes the offensive coordinator in the box, who gives it to a guy down on the field, who then gives it to the quarterback, there's a lot of time that elapses, that then you're trying to get things situated at the line of screen, image, you absolutely should wear a wristband. It's no sign of weakness. It's no sign of poor intelligence.

It's a sign of taking advantage of every opportunity you have to be successful. Yeah. That's why me and J. Mack have notes here, Coach. I'm sorry. Of course. And, you know, Peyton Manning was talking about the other night that he sometimes put notes on his wristband to remind him of who he wanted to go after or who the primary read was. I don't think anybody's looking at Peyton Manning going, wow, he didn't know his stuff.

Yeah. Finally. So I'm going to throw this out there. This is one of my theories. Now, you don't. I love your theories, Colin. Not really. You don't really love those.

I do. I do. Okay. I do. So nobody buys a house for one reason. Anytime you make a big purchase, it's closer to schools, it's closer to your parents. It's a better neighborhood. You love the backyard.

You don't get Christian McCaffrey just for, he makes his better now. They gave up lots of pets. And my takeaway is they have a weird, wonky quarterback situation. They don't know if Trey can play. They don't know if Jimmy will stay healthy. Brady's parents are getting older. And he has no loyalty to Florida. And he keeps complaining about the same thing.

We're not buttoned up. We're not prepared. Well, Kyle Shanahan's always prepared. That's the one thing, maybe to a fault, he's living in that tunnel. And I look at the McCaffrey pickup, and I think, you had James White in New England, Shanahan saw that. Tommy loves veteran pieces.

He lived off James White. Kevin Falk, these guys that can come out of the backfield. I think they had it in the back of their mind to get Christian McCaffrey to make a run at Tommy at season's end. Am I nuts? Okay. I think you're nuts in the fact that they had it in their mind to go after Tommy after the season. I think this was an incredible opportunity for them to, to get a guy that you wouldn't think would be on the market at the trading deadline and probably

shouldn't. Okay. But I love your theory. I love your theory for this reason because Tom Brady's career has been a lot like a movie. And what a great potential ending in the movie. Him coming back to his childhood team and leading him to a Super Bowl, it would be unbelievable. And the thing with Tom is every time you think that good, feel good story is over, suddenly there's another chapter.

So I love your theory for that reason. I think it's a perfect storybook ending to a career. It'd be amazing. That's all I do is write stories here. It's perfect. Some are true, some aren't. But, you know, that's what I do here. I love it.

I mean, the quarterback's move now. Like, I absolutely believe 80-20 Derek Carr's not playing for the Raiders. And frankly, I don't think it's bad for Derek Carr. I'd like to see him get a team. I mean, I'll throw it at you. I'm watching about a half hour of Carolina last night. Carolina's in a weird division. Brady could leave it.

Derek Carr would be the best quarterback in the division tomorrow if he went there, if Brady left. And Carolina's got players. So you think if the Raiders part ways with Carr, it's not a bad cap hit? No, at always. His first choice would be Carolina? No, I'm saying, would Carolina go? We'll make a move.

Of course they would, but did Derek Carr want to go there? Like a new head coach. Okay, time out. Look at the division. Saints don't have a star quarterback. Atlanta doesn't. And Tampa won't. Derek Carr wouldn't have to face Mahomes twice a year.

That's a good point. Herbert twice a year. I would, and by the way, you got a hyper-aggressive owner, and they're going to hire a new coach. So you come in and that coach probably, they'll hire a coach pretty soon, right? He's going to want you. He's going to go get me Derek Carr. Okay.

This coaching staff and Raiders, they didn't get him to the GM. This is good and it applies to like larger scale life, like when people are applying for jobs. You've got one job that you said, hey, we can dominate here, we can crush it. But at the other place, boy, you've got this great coach in Brian Daibow, offensive genius, working magic with the Giants. Do you want to go work with the genius? Or do you want to kind of just crush it in a division where you can dominate in Carolina? I would go Giants.

I'd rather work with Daibold than some random coach in Carolina. even though the opportunity to win is probably better there because of the division. You know, I'm not saying, but you know, Derek Carr in New York. He may not want New York. We need more people like that in America. No more bad words. No more bad words at all, huh? Shucks.

We got to clean our act up at my house. Our dog swear. Everybody swears. We don't have a tip jar or a swear jar at my house. We have a swear barrel. It sucks. Is that a bad word for you guys in your house? When I used to work at the other place,

They didn't like me to use that word. So I use it about once a year. Yeah. Because it's a word that... Well, I don't love it either. But if you went to a sports bar, would anybody ever say the word? Of course. Yeah, okay.

I'm on Los Angeles radio, so, you know, it probably doesn't do me any favors to be negative on the Lakers all the time. But I saw this story yesterday and I just rolled my eyes. So the Lakers are one three-point shot from being one and 11. They're bad, like the worst team in the league maybe. There was this story that came out yesterday, according to Chris Haynes, veteran NBA reporter.

The Lakers are known to covet Washington Wizards Guard Bradley Beale. Yeah, he just signed a five-year extension. That's like your buddy saying, she's into me. Dude, she just got engaged. She's off the market. The Lakers are leaking this story to make it appear. They're trying very hard at the end of the Kobe era when they were a mess as well. We are this close to Lamarcus Alder.

No, he chose the spurs. Not really that close. But sometimes stories get out there for reasons. I always say stuff gets out because somebody wants it out. And this does make it appear. The Lakers are working hard for you, the consumer. We are on the phone. We are grinding all day.

Hold on. Hold on. Another phone call came in. Bradley Beale just signed an extension. He's off the market. Yeah, it's not happening. But they want to make sure you know they are very interested. And by the way, I like Bradley Beal, but he's now 29.

Lakers need youth, not age. He's increasingly injured, and he's not a versatile wing defender, which this franchise has been dying for four years. They keep letting people go like KCP, who are long and athletic, and could do a little bit of that. So this is the classic. Stuff gets out because somebody wants it out. And the team is literally a three-point shot away from being one in 11. And there is, we may be one in 11, but no. Nobody is working the phones like us.

J-Mac with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Speaking of failure in Los Angeles, the Rams, brutal start to the season. Well, it's a lot of injuries. Three and five, defending Super Bowl champs, they look like they're done. It looks nearly over.

Sean McVeigh isn't used to being in this position as a head coach. Defensive coordinator Rahim Morris said it gives the team an opportunity to grow. That what I said is he's extremely spoiled, first of all. Out here in L.A., man, we've done a lot of winning. I was able to be a part of that last year, and that was extremely fun, and we all got a Super Bowl from it and some big rings and things of that nature. And before that, they were able to go to a Super Bowl. They went to a lot of playoff games.

They've been a lot of run. This guy spent a lot of playoff money. They've done such a great job. So this being the first time and the first opportunity for real adversity, not November last year, but real adversity, when you're behind the chains, behind the sticks, so to speak. It's a great opportunity for you to get that coach speak out and to go act on those things to show mental toughness,

to show the will to fight back, to show all those things that we want to be. Boy, I like him a lot. I think I'd hire him. I think I'd hire him as a head coach. Wasn't he a head coach in Tampa before? Well, he was a kid. He looks like he's 22 now. And by the way, Belichick and Cleveland, they all get fired.

Yeah, no, that's a lot. Everybody gets fired. You know, my takeaway is they drafted an interior lineman, he got hurt, center got hurt, left guard got hurt, and Stafford's one of those veteran quarterbacks who does not deal with interior pressure. So it's just been, and I also think the Alan Robinson thing,

here's my question. Is it Stafford's elbow? Is it the lack of time to throw? It's just been a lot of things offensively that have gone wrong, and then Andrew Whitworth retires. It's okay. Here's the thing. San Francisco keeps beating them.

Who's got the ring? If you told Kyle Shanahan today, you have the ring, but McVeigh crushes you in the regular season. Shanahan would take the ring. Of course. So it's one of these things where San Francisco's got their number, except when it counted last year and the Rams got a Super Bowl. We do not have repeat Super Bowl champions in this league.

It just doesn't happen very often. Even in the Patriots dynasty. What was that? like 15, 16 years ago? Yeah, so it doesn't have. Now, is it gone worse than we think? Well, this is also a tougher division. They had cluster injuries.

Listen, the Whitworth retirement. I mean, we all knew that Andrew was great. He was not only great. He was an unbelievable presence and leader. The Miami Dolphins. One of the teams has taken a big step this season. It's early still. Tua getting a lot of love. So is Tyree Kill, who I think you said this week is the NFL offensive player of the year. But Tua believes head coach Mike McDaniel is the one who should be getting more credit. All right. Coach Mike does a great job putting us in great situations.

you know, offensively. He has a lot of, people would say, window dressing. He doesn't like that term because it's just a part of our offense. You know, we can say that, you know,

I go out there and throw Tyreek and Waddle and all these other guys catch and run, but, you know, he continues to give other people praise, but, you know, he doesn't get as much praise as I think he should. And, you know, a lot of that is because of him.

Yeah, he's really good. say McDaniels saved to his career, right? Well, I mean, if you were going to vote on coach of the year right now, it's a really, there's Brian Daibol, Pete Carroll. The guy who has the Eagles undefeated? And also Mike McDaniels. He's got to be in there. McDaniel's up there. I absolutely has to be up there. I mean, listen, he's, Miami fans can say what they want about Tua,

but before this season, he was like the biggest question mark. Remember there was a Tom Brady rumors and Lamar Jackson stuff is still out there? Oh, the other thing is nobody's rooting against Tua. Everybody likes Tua. We have physical concerns. Hurted Alabama. Hurt in the NFL. We have size issues.

It feels like every deep ball is underthrown. Nobody's rooting against Tua. First of all, I grew up with the dolphins being great. I love when Miami's great. They've been so weird for 20 years. It's like it's great to have this kind of coastal, cool city. Miami's a fun, flashy town. That's right.

I had my bachelor party there back in the day. The NFL is better when Miami is. Scoring points in wild, the Marino years. It was great for the sport. It's all right. I think it's better when the Jets are good, Colin. Let's move to the third story. This is a bummer.

Another injury for the 49ers. Kyle Shanahan's guys dropping like flies every year. Quarterback Jason Verrett suffered a torn Achilles in practice and is out for the season. Second one. Yeah, battling back from a torn ACL in 21 in line to make his season debut on Sunday. And he gets busted up in practice. Debo Samuel said the injury took the life out of every one. won at practice, George Kittle added that he hadn't been on the field that quiet in a long

time. Now, obviously, you feel awful for Verrett. I'm just curious what this does for the mindset, if anything, heading into the Chargers. Well, he's a really popular player. When guys go through rehab, it's a lonely existence. So Jason Verrett's been sitting there for a year, and he doesn't feel like he's part of the team. And everybody in this league gets hurt at some point, right? Even quarterbacks. So when you come back and you instantly get hurt, it's awful. It is awful. Rehab is just a thankless, terrible thing to go through. You're sitting watching games. You don't feel like your help. I mean, I've never dealt with this, but you probably feel like, even though it's not your fault, you let the team down. I'm not there for you. In a physical

sport where everybody kind of plays hurt. So it's just one of those awful stories of a great young guy that I don't know him. Players love him. There's got to be a reason that 49ers. I can't figure it out. Every year, there's snake bitten with injuries. It's a 49ers. Baltimore? Baltimore, yes, all the time.

Is it a turf thing? Do they practice harder than other teams? I have no idea. What a bummer. Yeah. What a bummer. Stinks. Get well, kid. J-Mac with the news. Well, that's the news.

Josh Allen jogging off the practice field in his practice jersey. We don't know if he practiced or not.

He might have just been there. Josh plays I like the bills. Josh, doesn't I like the Vikings? It's almost quarterback malpractice to play Allen with a UCL injury. If he further injures that, forget the Super Bowl. Sounds like a Jets fan looking for playoff position. And debts are already in playoff position. I'm dreaming of a division title.

The division crown. They could be in first if the bills lose and the Jets win next week against the Patriots. Look at the smile. Cowherd is excited. You've never had this much Jets talk on the show. This is the greatest fall in herd history. In fairness, they are relevant now in that Buffalo game, which was on my corner TV. I didn't really watch a ton of it because I figured it would be lopsided.

And in the end, it wasn't. Good for you guys. So I think the hardest coaching, what's the hardest coaching job in the NFL? I would argue this morning, Arizona. It appears the owner resents his star quarterback, and the quarterback kind of resents the owner. I think Cliff is a really good guy and a better coach than most of us thought. He was fired in college by his alma mater. But Kyler's a handful.

It's also McVeigh, Pete Carroll, Kyle Shanahan, twice a year in division. and there's now expectations based on Cliff and Kyler having some good early years. I think going forward, everything is on the table with Cliff Kingsbury. First of all, Texas A&M and Oklahoma in short time are probably going to need a coach. Kingsbury's NFL experience back to college. I think he would be the first choice if I was the athletic director at Texas A&M or Oklahoma, it would be Cliff Kingsbury. He's recruited Texas for years.

Second, I could see Arizona firing Cliff Kingsbury because they're trapped. I could also see Arizona moving Kyler Murray for a lot of picks. It would be an awful dead cap situation for about a year. But if you get a bunch of picks, I mean, look at Seattle when they move Russell Wilson. And Russell was older. You could get a lot of picks. You could get first round picks. get two or three of those back-to-back years, take a couple of quarterbacks, see if one pans out.

But I do think, and I've said this before, I think the quarterback has become so important in this league. He's like the international soccer star, Messi, Rinaldo. You really have to have one to be great. And I look at it and, you know, Cam had a unique personality and Aaron's got a unique personality and Kyler's got a unique personality. You want them? You got to deal with it. And I think Cliff Kingsbury has done a really good job. But you're going to see Hard Knocks has a team now every year at midseason.

And Arizona is that team. And over the next couple of weeks, you're going to see a lot of Cliff Kingsbury, Kyler Murray viral stuff come out promoting the show to get you to watch Hard Knocks. And there's going to be some ugly stuff. This is, you know, the young star quarterback just got paid. Cliff, you know, a little bit of desperation. Kingsbury, I think, has phenomenally high EQ. I think he's got great EQ.

I think Cliff can handle a lot. I just don't think I could handle what he's handling. The owner, the quarterback. I think Cliff is built. He reminds me a little bit of Lincoln Riley. Like, you know, he goes to the podium and if stuff's flying, he's got, he can contextualize it. He's very, very bright on the spot.

but I could see it going anyway. I often put myself in a situation and think, if I was the GM, what would I do? I could see anything. I could see Cliff coming in saying, Oklahoma wants me and just saying, all right, we're going to try something else because we have to. I mean, that's the situation.

Speaking of Hard Knocks, did you see the clip going around online, DeAndre Hopkins coming off the field, saying to Kyler Murray, basically, what the F was at? Like it was a terrible pass. Kyler was a little defensive. A little?

They start drawing kind of, and Cliff Kingsbury tries to break it up and huddle the guys. And it's just the vibes, as they say, as the kids say these days, the vibes are not good currently in Arizona. Is that what the kids say? All right. They talk about vibes all the time. Like the vibes on this show, great vibes in Arizona. Not great. No, Bueno.

Here's another story, college football. Not a great college football weekend, but Nick Saban lost last weekend at Baton Rouge against Brian Kelly. That's going to happen a lot for a lot of SEC teams now. Saban came out, took the heat and said, I put it on me. It's not really Sabin's fault. He said, obviously, when you're teaching, regardless of what you're teaching and how you're teaching it, the pupils don't get it, I put it on me. Got to find a better way to emphasize it. I'm not blaming anybody else in the organization. It's my responsibility. I know what plays they call. I'm involved in how they prepare for the week. I watch practice film with them, but I think people look for somebody to hate when things don't go right. It is not Nick Saban's fault. It is Nick Sabin's reality.

When Pete Carroll dominated the Pac-12, the unspoken truth was the conference. was awful. Bad coaching, bad recruiters. Then Chip Kelly arrived and Jim Harbaugh arrived and Pete Carroll started losing more. When Nick Saban came to the SEC, Urban Meyer not long after left, and Nick just faced bad coaches and some weak recruiters and Nick cleaned up for a decade. But now Lane Kiffin's in the conference. Great recruiter. Jim Bo Fisher, say what you want. great recruiter. Brian Kelly, excellent recruiter. Kirby Smart, great recruiter. Josh Heppel, I don't know if he can recruit, he can certainly coach. This is the reality. If you stay long enough in any conference in college football, you know, it'll go up, it'll go down. This is the reality.

I said this a couple weeks ago. Alabama still recruits at a high level, but not quite as high. Georgia takes about three guys a year. Lane Kiffin takes one. Now Mario Cristobol in Miami, anyway, may sneak one. Brian Kelly will keep one or two home in Louisiana. And, you know, Alabama will still have a top five class, a top three class. But it won't be quite as good. And if you watch Alabama in the last two to three years, their backups are not as good. Their depth not quite as good. They don't have a dominant interior defensive lineman like, you know, Georgia's had in recent years. And that Alabama seemed to have annually for a decade. Bama is still great. They're still only a two-lost team.

But this was the reality of, you know, Pete Carroll when he was in the PAC 12. A lot of success in anybody's life is not just due to you. It's chaos of others. You know, Southwest Airlines has done really well for a long time. They've had great management. And for a long time, other airlines didn't, and they fed off it. and then Delta gets their act together and they get the right CEO in, they have better management, they steal some market share.

It's the way it's always been. You look at the great coaches in college sports. Let's just stick to college football. Generally, their run coincides with some unevenness, some bad coaches, some lousy hires. I mean, Sabin's first eight or nine years in this league. It was like Auburn struggling LSU can't get the right guy. Now LSU's got an adult in the room. LSU is going to win a lot of games.

You're not going to be going to Baton Rouge winning anymore. This is Brian Kelly's worst team. It's going to get better every year. It's going to get better every year. By the way, here comes Oklahoma and Texas. Will Texas steal a recruit every year from Alabama? Probably one. Some D-Linemen's going to stay home and play in Austin and not go to Tuscaloosa.

Will Oklahoma steal a recruiter or two? Well, if they bring Cliff Kingsbury in offensively, probably steal a quarterback over the next five years. So, you know, we always want to blame everybody. Some things are just a reality. They're nobody's fault. Right? Now, cryptocurrency,

that was a lot of people's fault. You shouldn't have gone there. J-MAC, by the way, is cryptocurrency cascades down a waterfall? Did you invest in it? I did not. I invested in a soccer team in Mexico and a basketball team in New Zealand.

And they've done very well. So far so good. Yeah, yeah. Ryan, did you go any cryptomania over there? He's a friend. to talk about crypto. My son is very techy. So my son warned dad a year and a half ago.

He said, dad do not invest any big money in Bitcoin and do not invest in NFT. He said it's nonsense. And when it comes, my son told me years ago, this was years ago, dad invest in Shopify because he knew the internet. Dad invested in Shopify for a couple years. Wow. Daddy. he retired next year. Daddy, Daddy, Daddy did okay. So my son is like, dad, a lot of grifters,

I don't think he used that word. A lot of baloney on that cryptocurrency stuff. Stay away, dad. I said, all right. In fact, I texted my son. He's 16 years old now. I texted him a couple days ago. I'm like, you were right. And I sent him a graph. He's like, yeah, it's crazy, right? I'm like, no, you predicted it. All right. Demarchus wears around the corner. So fired up. You know, we have had a fun week. Last week was the trading deadline week. Yes. I think you called that the greatest show in heard history.

I'm not sure. I had more fun during, we're lucky. Our time slot, we get a lot of breaking stories in our time slot because, you know, most stories don't break 6 a.m. Most don't break 6 at night. Middle of the day, reporters out there, you know, big teams want stuff out there in the middle of the day. So it's been fun.

This weekend, by the way, Fox Sports Salutes are veterans. the guys on Fox NFL Sunday, a two-hour pregame show. 2.2 million personnel in the USA military.
