This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Thanks for making us part of your day.
Blazing five and two minutes.
Last two blazing fives, four and one, three and two.
Seven of the last ten picks.
Hitting them.
Feel great about today.
J. Mack, you have your picks at the very end of the show.
I got some heat this weekend.
I feel weirdly great about the picks this weekend.
I even tossed in a total when I put in a bag.
You ever do totals or you just size that?
No, I think it's actually I like the numbers.
There's two games I didn't pick.
I didn't pick Baltimore, Los Angeles.
Bad weather and Lamar's sick.
But I would take Baltimore in that game because they just crush NFC teams that travel early window.
L.A. playing early window against an East Coast team.
They don't have anybody in their building that can replicate.
Lamar Jackson at practice.
These NFC team Seattle and Detroit go to play Baltimore in Baltimore and just get dragged.
It's a bloodbath.
And I don't think it'll be that bad, but it feels like a 10, 12 point win for Baltimore.
Did you consider Jared Gough Outdoors?
I have some December-January numbers for Goff outdoors.
I think you're going to like our Blazing Five.
I did what you usually do.
Uh-oh.
Dumpster diving.
You take the awful, ugliest games on the board and you bet them.
And you win money.
So here we go.
Here's our blazing five.
Let's blaze it up.
Fire it up. It's Collins. Blazing Five.
Panthers at Saints.
I'll take the Panthers plus five and a half.
A division dog.
New Orleans is reeling.
Three of the last four Panther games have been closed, decided by seven or fewer.
Their defense is playing its best in the year.
They've held opponents under 300 total yards in four the last six games.
The Saints are the most poorly coached.
team in the league. The last three games, they're giving up almost 30 points a game, and that's with a
defensive coach and some nice personnel. Derek Cars hurt. James Winston now starts. He's a
turnover machine, and they are no longer getting to the quarterback with a defensive coach. Second
few as sacks in the league. Upset City Panthers. Win. Take the points. 26, 24.
Jaguars and Browns. I'll take the Browns minus three. Five and one at home this year is Cleveland,
and their defense at home is historically good.
Outstanding, number one across the board in points, yards, third down percentage.
Also, the defense played poorly last week, so they'll be in a bad mood.
The Jags don't have Christian Kirk, they don't have Trevor Lawrence,
and actually the backup, C.J. Bethard, has a bad shoulder, so they're injury riddled.
They're also one in 16.
The last 17 times they've played outdoors under 50 degrees.
They're a terrible bad weather team with a backup who's dinged up against the great defense.
My favorite bet of the week, I'll take the Browns to cover and win 2413.
Lions and Bears.
I'll take the Bears plus three.
Lousy cold weather.
Cold, cold, cold weather.
Jared Goff's not great in it.
Bears, extra rest.
Bears won two of their last three games.
Defensively, they have the number one rush defense in the NFL Chicago, and they're taking
the ball away. Eight takeaways in the last couple of games. So Chicago can be limited
defensively, but they're playing pretty well. Their rush defense will force Gough to throw it
in really cold Chicago weather. The Lions defense was never good. Now it's a mess. 25 plus
points surrendered in the last four games. The worst, second worst scoring defense in the league
is Detroit since week seven. Upset City, take the points. Bears upset the Lions.
2423.
Broncos at Chargers.
Coaching mismatch, I'll take the offensive coach.
Sean Payton and Denver plus two and a half.
Chargers aren't doing anything well.
I'll get to that in a second.
But Denver's defense since week eight has been exceptional.
They've won four of their last five.
Hughes took out last week.
Sean Payton and Russell Wilson, they're not turning the ball over.
Russell Wilson had no turnovers in five of his last six games,
so they'll be the cleaner of the two teams.
Again, the Chargers don't do anything well.
They're rushing offense this 30th, with Austin Echler in a good O'line.
Their defense is a sieve.
They're all banged up.
They have the second worst pass defense.
They're not good situationally.
They're one-dimensional in the passing game to Keenan Allen.
What do they do well?
Denver does a lot of things well.
They may have a ceiling, but I get a coaching mismatch.
I get points, a divisional game.
I take Broncos to beat the Chargers 27-24.
Bill's a Chiefs.
I'm just taking Patrick Mahomes off a loss.
Patrick Mahomes is 16 and 3 in his career off a loss.
They got a bad no-call and a deep baller.
They could have tied that thing up with the Packers.
Their defense this year has been exceptional.
It's the best in the Patrick Mahomes era.
And again, the Chiefs are a good team.
They are teaching a receiving core how to receive in real time and a tough schedule.
Here's the thing for the bills.
Five of their six wins.
have come against teams with losing records.
They're coached.
There's leaks all over the building.
I keep hearing, oh, they're a desperate team.
They've been a desperate team six times this year.
They're not winning these games.
Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys is a tough stretch.
I don't trust them in big games.
I'll take the Chiefs to win, close game, and cover, 3227.
Again, I like Baltimore against the Rams.
I didn't put it in.
Lamar Jackson's sick.
And Rams are playing well.
cruddy weather could be low scoring.
So I'm doing some dogs this week.
The Panthers, the Bears, the Broncos as dogs.
J-Mack, thoughts on that?
Well, you said you were dumpster diving.
You're certainly doing that with Joe Flacco and Bryce Young.
But I have that as well.
I just don't like the Chief's bill pick.
I'm all over the bills here.
Otherwise, not bad.
Broncos chargers will see.
But, yeah, I think this is a good one for you.
Three one and one, maybe.
Okay.
James Jones, former Packer,
wide receiver and a Super Bowl champ joining us in studio on a Friday.
By the way, I did not pick that Green Bay Packer game because you know what?
Young teams like Houston and Green Bay, young teams play with a naivete.
They get better as the season progresses.
They don't know what they don't know.
You had to have been blown away by that Green Bay performance.
No, I wasn't blown away.
By Kansas City?
No, I wasn't blown away because I've been saying all season long.
We're waiting on Jordan Love to grow and to get better as a football player.
But this team has a bunch of first rounders on that defense where a lot of people don't understand.
That defense is stacked with first rounders.
They're starting to get healthy.
Hopefully you'll get Jaya Alexander back too.
So I knew at home the defense will play well against a struggle in Kansas City Chief's offense during this season.
But Jordan Love, I mean, you're talking about these last couple weeks, man.
I mean, three out of four winning football games.
And he's just going with the football to the right place.
he's playing comfortable.
Coach LaFloor is calling an aggressive football game.
And it was fun to watch, man.
I mean, obviously some of these throws,
when you see them go up like this one of Romeo Dobbs,
you're like, oh, man.
But, hey, that's quarterback play.
He's playing at a very, very high level, man.
I'm happy for the kid, and the Packers got it rolling right now.
This is not a shot at Aaron.
It's a reality.
Brady didn't love playing with young players, either does LeBron.
And I think it was tough for Aaron last year.
It's like, it's a bunch of kids.
Yeah.
I'm getting to 40.
I do feel it helps Jordan.
You know, whereas if you're an older quarterback and Christian Watson drops a ball,
you're not going to go to him for a while.
I think Jordan loves like, hey, man, I'm getting beat up by the press.
You drop a ball.
I'm coming right back to you.
The age thing does help.
And not only that, I mean, Jordan loves trying to prove his self.
You know what I'm saying?
So you better come back to one of the best players on your football team.
Aaron Rogers is the MVP.
He has proven.
Like, when we first started off as young fellas with Aaron Rogers,
it took us a lot of time to get that chemistry together.
It took us a lot of time to say, okay, if the defenders here, I know Aaron Rogers is throwing the ball here.
If we're in this, if the defense is in this coverage right here, I know Aaron Rogers is going to check to this play.
Or I know he wants me to run this.
Like, that stuff takes time.
So when you're almost 40 years old and you're getting out there with a bunch of young receivers, yeah, sometimes, you know, it don't matter what position you play.
Sometimes you're like, dang, man, like, I went through this with JJ and Jordy and Randall and all that.
And now I got to go through this again with Jordan Love.
It's like, we are about to grow together.
You know, we are all young.
We're going to grow together and get this thing right together.
So I think Mike McCarthy has had a great year.
It's easy to say because they're winning.
He had appendectomy surgery this week, so we wish Mike the very best.
But you were with him when teams were playing well, and the quarterback is playing well.
And I said this.
Mike's gotten beat up a lot, but this is the best X ever played.
Farves last year with him was excellent.
Aaron had great years with him.
You were in those huddles.
You were in those meetings and discussions.
What does Mike do?
I mean, he was 5 and 1 with Cooper Rush.
Mike does something and Aaron may have tired of it
but there was a time they were great
what is Mike do for quarterbacks
that I wouldn't know in meetings and practice
well Mike really what Mike does is he really
makes it extremely simple for the quarterback
you are a special football player right
Aaron Rogers you're a special football player
Bradford you are a special football player
Dak Prescott is playing at a special special level right now
we are not going to make this game hard right
we are going to have we're going to have some really good runs
We're going to have some past plays off of these runs.
If you don't like it, check it and get into a really good play.
And these are our favorite checks, right?
And number one, there's no need to force nothing down to football field.
One thing I've seen with Coach Mike is he came in, he said, listen, Aaron Rogers, the ball is in your hands, right?
We have these playmakers around you, right?
These are our favorite plays.
The game is really simple, and these are our checks off these favorite plays.
Obviously, you're going to go into a game to where, schematically, you are saying,
okay, we're going to put in these couple plays for this defense, you know what I mean, to run them.
But other than that, we are going to line up in three wide.
We're going to line up in a couple bunch formations, and we're going to let you get us in the right play.
Because when you get us in the right play, it lets me know you know exactly what you're looking at,
and it allows you to play a whole lot faster, Dak.
And one thing, Coach Mike preaches and preaches and preaches is legs, legs, legs, legs, legs, legs.
Use your legs.
We practice scramble, drill, and getting outside the pocket so much in Green Bay.
Coach Hosell said that yesterday. Dax's moving.
Moving and getting out.
But when you listen to Dack, they're practicing that.
And that's what we did in Green Bay time after time after time.
Coach Mike always used to tell us, 80% of the game is off-scripted.
Right?
It's very rare you're going to come out there and say, this is the play and it's going to work.
No.
Defenses do stuff.
Pass rushes happen.
Like 80% of the game is off-scripted.
That's why Russell Wilson was so great.
Aaron Rogers was so great.
Patty Mahomes is so great.
because the off-scripted plays.
And when you watch Dak Prescott play right now
and the understanding of the off-scripted plays,
is changing his games,
whether he's getting outside of the pocket
throwing it or whether he's getting outside of the pocket
making plays with his legs.
Since that Niners game,
the way he's been using his legs
and getting outside of the pocket
has truly changed his season in his game.
You know, it was interesting,
pivoting back to Jordan Love.
So when I watched him, I mean, obviously,
people can have revisionist history,
but five, six weeks ago,
Matt Lefleur was ripping him in post-game comments.
To me,
the only thing that really changed is his confidence is that at some point and I and again when
Aaron played under Brett Favre, I remember watching Aaron in college at Cal. He was kind of mechanical
and Farrv isn't. Yeah. He was a gunslinger, right? And so Aaron I think watched no question
Farve and became much less robotic. I mean you can go back in YouTube Aaron at no question. Yeah, ball to ball.
And so Aaron watched Brett and just became more of a musician. I'm going to, I'm going to
free form or a chef in the kitchen.
So I watched Jordan Love and it was the second time.
I saw it against Detroit where he looked like, I think he's a little more far of than Aaron,
but you could tell somebody had told him, dude, go, you're an athlete.
That's what it looked like.
Yeah, and the main person that told him that was Coach LaFloor.
And you can see that by Coach LaFleur's offense.
I mean, and by the way, he's calling the game.
I stood up here with you and I'm like, Coach LaFleur is trying to protect him, trying to keep
him safe. Like you guys are trying to figure out if he is the franchise quarterback, right? You cannot be
out here treating him like he's a C.J. Bethard or something like that. If he's the franchise
quarterback. He's been in this offensive system for three years. You have to let the young fella go.
You have really good weapons around him. You're going to get Aaron Jones back. Like, you have to
call an aggressive game. And through this win streak, he said, you know what? If the young fella throw
picks, he throw picks. But I'm about to be aggressive just like I was with Aaron Rogers. And I'm going to let him
slaying this football over the yard. And I'm telling you right now, when you talk about arm talent,
Jordan Love has armed talent to compete with the best of them in the National Football League.
And Coach of the floor has confidence in them to really call these plays and let him loose.
So I saw where one of the bosses, Nick Bosa came out and said, hey, we gave you the blueprint
on how to stop Jalen Hertz. And I'm like, yeah, nobody else has Drake Greenlaw and Fred Warner.
It's an easier blueprint when you have the second best.
pass rush in the league.
What do you make of Philadelphia getting dragged?
My take has been, they just played four great teams in a row.
So go back to your career.
It's like fatigue.
There's only so many high leverage moments you can play.
At some point you just like, I'm done.
I think Philadelphia is fine, but I cannot believe how many people are selling their
eagle stock.
Yeah, it's crazy, you know, because obviously every time you dominate a team on the football
field, it's always we gave them the blueprint, right?
everybody thinks they got the blueprint on Aaron Rodgers.
Everybody think they got the blueprint on Patty Mahomes.
You don't, right?
You've seen Patty Mahomes go out there against the Denver Broncos,
and the Denver Broncos turn it over,
and, you know, are the New York Jets turn them over?
You don't have the blueprint.
You had a really good game, right,
against the Philadelphia Eagles.
I truly feel like the Philadelphia Eagles had a terrible game plan.
You go in there,
DeAndre Swift has six carries.
You're going up against the San Francisco 49ers,
and you're going to just drop back as they rush for
and try to complete a pass versus seven.
defenders in coverage, you're not going to do that. No quarterback will do that.
You know, so for me, I just felt like Philadelphia Eagles game plan was terrible, right?
If the Cowboys come at them this weekend with that rush four and we're going to drop seven,
they're going to run the ball down the Cowboys throw. At least they're going to try to.
Whether there's Jaylon Hurts using his legs, whether it's Devonte Swift running the football,
they're going to run the ball. I feel like they got away from that in the game.
The Niners Rush for, they did not even run the football. And they were up six zero. Could have been
14 zero, but you up six zero. And you're up six zero. And you're
still didn't run the football. So I don't think it's the blueprint because I think the game
plan will change for the Philadelphia Eagles to where this is how you're going to approach us.
Okay, this is going to be our approach for that. We are going to get into more of these
run formations and run plays if that's how you guys going to play us.
Only criticism I have of offensive coaches, and I've said this about Sean McVeigh,
who I think is brilliant. They get cute. Yeah.
They try to, sometimes it's like bring it down, hand it to the back.
And sometimes, by the way, and I think the long,
Lions who can throw the ball are at their best running.
Everybody thinks Philadelphia is a passing team.
And I'm like, no, actually, I think an older offensive line,
it's easier to ask them to go forward than to go backwards.
So I think Philadelphia is a run team.
I mean, even when you watch Philadelphia against the Kansas City Chiefs, right,
it was some screenplays, some short passes here and there,
and DeAndre Swift had himself a day in the run game and in the screen game, right?
And Jalen Hertz made some plays later in that game with his legs,
and he made one big time throw to Devante Smith,
and they won the football game.
AJ Brown had, what, eight yards?
You know?
So, like, they found, they run the football, you know?
So for me, that is where they got to start at.
You have a quarterback that's extremely mobile,
that's extremely strong.
Utilize his legs.
I was waiting for them to utilize his legs
against the San Francisco 49ers,
because if it's one thing the San Francisco 49ers
struggle with, that is mobile quarterbacks as a defense.
And they just kept Jalen Hurts,
one of the best mobile quarterbacks in our game inside the pocket.
So this Philadelphia Eagles, it starts with the run game.
And that's Jalen Hurst.
That's Swift.
It starts with them, and then everything comes off of that.
Okay, I want to talk about Marvin Harrison, Jr.
Tremendous college receiver.
He said he's still considering Ohio State because kids now can make a couple million bucks.
Ohio State's got a big collective.
What do you make of those comments?
I mean, I laugh at these comments because this is absolutely crazy.
You're talking about $5 million and you're about to get $30 million.
guarantee, man. You go to number one, number two, number three overall pick and get to the
National Football League. And not only that, you're playing in college football because your
dream is to get to the National Football League. Well, right now it's set up for you to be a
top two, top three pick in the National Football League. I truly believe this is all talk.
I don't even, you know, I don't get into him or Caleb Williams talking this stuff, man.
You're not going to make the money. You're going to make in the National Football League in
college. I don't care what university you go to. Did you like playing in college?
Loved it. Love it. I would, I would, I would, I would,
want to play one more college football game over playing one more NFL game.
Why? I don't know. It was just different. You know, everybody's on scholarship. You know,
you don't really got a lot of egos involved. It ain't no money involved. Everybody's chasing the
same goal. Everybody's brothers, you know, you're in the locker room talking about a bunch of
crazy stuff and all that from college. It's just a fun time. So for me, I would love to go back
and play one more college football game with my buddies, then go back and play an NFL game with my
buddies. But you don't buy this story. No, not at all. He's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's,
He's coming out, and he's going to be a hell of a player in the National Football League,
but I do not see him staying in college.
For what?
Like, you're coming back for what?
Okay, you got a couple NIL this before.
You have nothing else to prove.
You have shown the world everything.
My takeaway is if I cannot go to class or go to class.
I mean, I make more money.
I never liked going to class in college.
I'm right with you.
I'm right with you.
But you're talking about now I don't have to go to class and I'm making $25 more million than I would have made,
and I'm in the national football.
This is a no-brainer.
kids coming out saying this is absolutely crazy.
Good senior. You're on speak today? Yes, I am.
Great stuff. James Jones, Super Bowl

of the week via Draft King Sportsbook.
I like the Ravens at home, minus
seven against the Rams. NFC
teams this year, Detroit, Seattle that have
gone east to face Lamar
Jackson and that speed offense have been
clobbered, I'll take the Ravens to win by over a touchdown. The Browns have Joe Flacco,
but their defense at home should shut down the Jags who won't have Trevor Lawrence or Christian
Kirk. He's having surgery. I like the Browns by a touchdown. Chiefs minus two and a half at home
over the bills. They're better. They're bouncing off a loss, which they normally do. And I just don't
trust the bills in a big spot. Ravens, Browns, Chiefs, home favorites like them all. If you want
to take the herd parlay, check out Draft King's Sportsbook. New users, please, you'll

J-MAC with the news.
No, no, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Jack Prescott is crediting two major superstars with a reason for his awesome year.
So he's got 26 touchdown passes.
He's an MVP favorite.
Cowboys are 9 and 3.
He's been studying LeBron James and Tom Brady's health care and training regimen.
to keep his body at peak performance.
Does that mean no beers during the season?
I mean, it's interesting.
I'm surprised more athletes don't spend seven figures a year on their body.
Like, that's your temple.
That's what you have to maintain.
Yeah.
I'm surprised that it's like Russell Wilson, LeBron, Brady.
I would, if I was a NFL quarterback, minimum, I'm spending seven figures on my, you know, all that stuff.
I think I've told you this before.
So, you know, I play hoops at the gym, and I run into a guy who's huge,
and he was like 6-6-6-guy dreadlocks.
And ultimately he says, yeah, my job is I'm LeBron's body double in a lot of commercials.
Sprite, all these commercials LeBron does.
So, of course, I'm picking his brain.
He tells me, LeBron gets a massage every single day.
And LeBron does not eat anything without his, you know, where they call it,
the person who looked at the food, yeah, you can eat this.
You cannot eat that.
Nutritionist.
Like, nutritionist.
LeBron doesn't eat anything without running it by the nutritionist.
Like, everything is taken care of.
There's a reason at 39.
he's putting up historically great numbers.
Historically has not had a lot of injuries.
A couple, couple injuries, obviously.
But, like, you've really got to take care of yourself.
And, you know, Jack Prescott, I don't know.
He doesn't look that different, does he out there?
Well, I mean, I think he looks very comfortable.
And I think he's got, you know, he's a good quarterback having a great year.
So there's probably a lot of reasons for it.
But, I mean, even if you're not a huge advocate of his career,
and I always thought he's pretty good.
Kirk Cousin-ish, but moves better.
I think he's having a tremendous year.
And I think there's a lot of reasons for it.
This probably is 5-10% too.
But we also have to admit this is that spot this weekend.
Dad, you haven't done it in the playoffs.
Can you prove it against a good team?
It's not a big ask.
That's a really interesting game,
because Dallas has blown out average teams
and folded like a deck chair against good teams late.
You know they'll play well at home.
The question is will they win?
You know Dallas will play well.
They always play well at home.
We'll see.
There are extra time and also fourth quarter against the Eagles, the last game.
Whatever they found, they unlocked it.
They dominated Philadelphia badly.
Next story, this is a little interesting, has flown under the radar.
So the Chargers rushing attack has struggled lately.
Austin Echler averaging a career low 3.5 yards per carry.
Last week, 18 yards on 14 carries against the Patriots.
Brandon Staley seems like he's had enough.
He was asked if Joshua Kelly will see more carries and touches.
Here's Brandon Staley.
Just with the running game, is there any thought to giving Josh Kelly more touches
just to see if you can spark something, just considering the way things are going right now?
Are you going to stick with the same split there?
Yeah, Daniel, competition.
Yeah, I think competition for carries is going to be something that you can see happening.
And I think you've seen it on defense, competing for opportunities.
So, like I said, when I see keep searching, you know, we're going to keep exploring,
making adjustments so that we can find.
that rhythm that I've been talking about.
And that's certainly one way to do it.
Ask yourself this.
What do the Tarjus do exceedingly well?
Because they've got players.
They don't do anything well.
Special teams as a finger crossing.
They now no longer can run the ball.
They're a one-trick pony throwing it to Keenan Allen.
Their past defense is egregious.
They don't stop the run.
They don't do anything well.
The Saints, it's like Dennis Allen.
The Saints and the Chiefs,
chargers, these are good
rosters. They may not be the diners,
but the Saints have the best roster in their
division. They are poorly
coached. By the way,
if you have a business and you got the
wrong guy running it, it will get worse
over time. Just like McVeigh's
Rams this year have gotten better
over time. Andy Reed's teams,
better over time. December records
matter. Right? Philadelphia. Usually the
good coach is Belichick's history. His
team's got better over time. What
happens when a team gets worse? You got the wrong
CEO. The Chargers
did some things well early in the year.
They no longer do
anything statistically well.
Specifically to Echler in August.
Remember that whole like pay the
running backs, we're on a conference call.
Let's get more money. Remember Sequin Barclay was
involved. Echler was one of the driving
forces behind that. Spoke out, we need to get paid.
And now he has an awful season heading into
unrestricted free agency. Not great.
But like, I mean,
catch the ball out of the back.
backfield is what's scary.
Like, he's had drops the last couple weeks, Colin.
His stock is way, way down.
This is a guy who should have gotten paid.
Remember, he's like a late bloomer, so he's, I think, in his late 20s.
This goes back.
Washington has this, too, with Ron Rivera.
You know Washington, the Chargers, and the Saints.
There's players there.
Name one thing any of those three teams do really, really well.
Because you don't have to be great at everything in pro football.
You can't be terrible at anything.
Right? You'll get exposed. The coaching's too good.
You don't have to be great at everything.
You've got to at least be good at something.
Because in these crisis moments, these leverage moments, what do you lean in?
What are the Chargers lean to? What do the Saints lean to? What does Washington lean to?
That, to me, is when you've got to replace the coach.
Final story is, so you've ruffled some feathers around the league, Colin.
Earlier this week, remember the Jags punter came after you online?
Well, now, Brock Purdy is getting asked about your hat backwards take.
So Purdy wore one yesterday at the press conference, and of course the media brought it up.
Do you think you're representing the organization well right now, standing up there at the podium, wearing a backwards hat?
Man, that's, I guess it's who I am, and I think so.
Yeah, some guys have told me in the locker room and stuff, but I don't buy in all that kind of stuff.
So I'm just trying to play quarterback and win games.
All right.
Okay.
Who was wearing his hat on backwards last night?
Kenny Pickett.
What, riding the bench, holding a clipboard?
I'm just saying.
Of the many ills with that team, it's not a good sign.
So I want...
I'm glad the San Francisco media, though, is addressing this fundamental concern about the franchise.
So I respect the journalism being tendered in San Francisco.
They realize the seriousness of this moment.
So that's real journalism in San Francisco.
They addressed it and pointed right in.
Adam and demand it an answer.
I try not to look at social media that much, but you don't know how many times I get tagged in.
Here's a photo of a quarterback with his hat backwards.
Why's calling against it?
Like all these people asking me.
I mean, basically, by the way, every quarterback in the history of sports has worn his hat backwards.
As you know, right?
It's the Wednesday presser.
I've said it over and over.
It's the Wednesday press conference with the bank sponsor.
You're speaking.
It's the one time a week.
You're speaking to it's all over E-E.
SBN Fox. It's the one clip we all
use. But I, you know
what, I appreciate the
hardened journalism
being practiced in the Bay Area.
You have to ask questions. You have to put these
quarterbacks on the spot. MVP,
wearing his hat backwards on a Wednesday.
Really risky for Brock Purdy.
Okay, Jay McHaghan.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Ly
News. So I saw this story.
You know, it is funny how
things change quickly.
The athletic, more journalists, said Bill Belichick could reportedly, so they're doing some reporting here, could reportedly fetch a first rounder if the Patriots traded him.
Now, we do have a precedent for that.
Coaches have been traded.
So, you know, I was thinking to myself, what do I get with Belichick?
So he's offensively tone deaf.
That's a fair thing to say.
he has been horrible in drafting and developing wide receivers who are increasingly important.
He's not, he's grumpy and not really open to change.
I've been told that a lot of good young coaches do not want to coach under Bill.
His young quarterback last three years has gotten progressively worse, not better.
That's a warning sign.
There's a story now.
He's a micromanager with Bill O'Brien.
That's concerning.
He's got a Ford Model T field to him where there was a time he was the industry leader and it is just not working.
So he's also, if I'm an owner, he's super expensive.
If I'm a general manager, I wouldn't trade for him because he's not collaborative.
He's more of a bully.
And as a quarterback, there's no proof that outside of Tom Brady, he has any expertise.
And the other thing is his teams, I said this a couple years ago, they're boring.
They're not going to be fun to watch.
So, you know, trading a first rounder.
Here's what I'm officially getting with Bill.
No playoff wins in five years.
Seven games under 500 since 2020.
Not a top 10 total offense since 2018.
And hasn't drafted a Pro Bowl pass catcher since 2010.
So I think the numbers are pretty obvious.
Bill's career with Tom and without him.
With him, he wins 77% of his games.
Without him, he wins 45.
So that's pretty clear.
And I said this this morning.
If you gave me Ben Johnson a coordinator who's never been a head coach or Bill,
I would take Ben Johnson.
And I think it's not that it's,
you see this all the time in every walk, every business,
where cultural changes and people can address them and they get tone deaf very quickly.
But I, if Bill's not willing to back off personnel,
and he's not willing to have a reasonable salary.
Why would I want him?
Why would an owner or GM want him?
He's not collaborative.
And he's also a historian.
Bill loves history.
I mean, he can go on and on about a 1934 left-footed punter that didn't wear a helmet.
I mean, Bill loves that stuff.
I mean, he'll go back to his father and the Navy playbook.
And, I mean, he loves that stuff.
He's a historian.
I think it's great.
But that doesn't do me any good tomorrow.
It doesn't do me any good Sunday.
So the athletic reports he could fetch a first rounder.
I'm interested to see what his market is.
You think a third of the league wants Justin Fields.
Do you think a third of the league would be interested in Bill Belichick?
That's a great question.
What's the market bigger for?
Bill Belichick or Justin Fields?
I think your answer, my answer will shock you.
Yours would be the quarterback.
Yeah.
You want to power-hungry 72-year-old guy to demand organizational dominance.
It only takes one.
like Washington would pony up the dough.
And Washington would be an interesting fit
because they've got receivers there already
and he can't draft and develop them.
But with Bill, he doesn't appear to be very collaborative.
So if I'm a general manager, I'm not interested.
And by the way, there's a reason Bill keeps hiring the same coaches over and over.
Because those are the guys that, A, they need work.
Matt, Patricia Joe, Judge, they need a job.
Josh McDaniels needed work.
He got run.
And also, they will kind of withstand Bill.
intensity where a lot of young coaches I've heard
are just not interested. So
the old dog new tricks thing is
real, right? The one thing I got to give Nick
Saban massive credit for is he
realized, I don't get offense,
and he started to bring in the best offensive minds
you run the show. Do you think
Belichick could do something like that?
I haven't seen it, so I have
to see stuff to believe it. I just
haven't seen it. Again, if
Mac Jones, if this
was his rookie year,
and then his rookie year was this year,
go, well, there's momentum.
Doesn't it concern people that Max gotten so bad he can't beat out Bailey Zappy?
So the longer he's with Bill, the worse it gets.
Generally, even if a quarterback's limited, let's say a quarterback is, you know, Mitch
Trubisky was limited.
But the longer he was with Matt Nagy got him into the playoffs.
So Matt Nagy was getting the most out of a pretty limited downfield thrower Mitch
Trubisky.
He was getting the most out of it.
Matt Eberfluse, you can complain, but Justin Fields is better today than last
year. It feels like he's just small. Jordan
Love. I don't know how good he is,
but he's getting better. Mac
Jones has regressed badly
each year. Mac Jones
didn't forget how to throw a football. Some of that
is just simply on the staff.
Like if I'm going to give... Who puts the staff together,
by the way? Bill. Oh, oh, okay.
Yeah. So, I mean, that's where we're at right now.
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd

podcast. Tomorrow, Fox Primetime Hoops begins as UCLA takes on Villanova. The biggest game, the biggest
games are on Fox Primetime Hoops tomorrow at 7 Eastern on Fox. It is interesting in sports, how the
tide changes. Like, everybody was out on Harbaugh, and now everybody's out on Ryan Day.
The quarterback transfers out. Fans are so fickle. Like, you've got to, and I, by the way,
I'm not the most loyal guy.
I mean, if I don't like a coach, I'll move off him.
Belichick, I'm done.
But it's, you know, I mean, you have to be loyal to production.
But it's remarkable to me how many people have bailed on Philadelphia.
They've won 24 or 26 games.
Everybody now has bailed on him because they play the Cowboys and then Kansas City and then Buffalo.
And then they're playing all the in San Francisco.
And it's like you can only go and face like elite teams play after, play after play.
And we said it last week, both of us loved San Francisco over Philadelphia.
J-MAC called the route.
They had extra rest.
They have an offensive
Debo and Kittle and Iyuk
and Christian McCaffrey and Trent Williams.
It was just one of those games.
You could see it from a mile away.
It's going to be ugly.
And it was.
And suddenly now everybody is
out on Philadelphia.
Here is
Bosa, Nick Bosa,
of the 49ers saying,
hey, there's a way to beat Philly.
Obviously, we put the blueprint out there.
Hopefully, Cal
always watch the stage because Jaylen's looking at the rush every play.
So yeah, you just have to be disciplined and not give him that quick escape route where he could get to his guys quick.
Well, you also have Dre Greenlaw and Fred Warner.
Fred Warner's the best linebacker in football.
They're the best linebacking combination in football.
And all other teams aren't the second best pass rushing team.
So San Francisco is a bad matchup for Philadelphia.
They would be if they play again.
It wouldn't be a blowout like that.
Dallas got blown out by Philadelphia, and
everybody, Dallas got blown out by San Francisco, and we all like Dallas.
And they got blown out weeks ago by San Francisco.
Philadelphia gets blown out by them.
We're all selling our stock.
Well, there's a reason Dallas at home is only a field goal favorite over Philadelphia.
Dallas and Philadelphia are very even teams.
They're very, very even teams.
There's a field goal difference in Dallas.
So if you're selling your Philadelphia stock, I'm buying it.
I just think San Francisco is the kind of team that unless you have extra prep time,
which you would if you had a buy in the playoffs or you would in the Super Bowl,
or you would off your buy or the first game of the year.
San Francisco is one of those teams.
If you come in tired, weary, remember, Philadelphia had 96 defensive snaps against Buffalo
and then faced San Francisco and the Niners had extra rest.
It was just trouble.
But it's remarkable to me.
You know, other teams don't have Kyle Shanahan and Debo and Trent.
I mean, you look at the Niners right now.
Trent Williams, a Hall of Famer.
Kyle Shanahan, if he wins a Super Bowl, will get considered.
Christian McCaffrey's a Hall of Famer, potentially, if he stays healthy.
George Kittle is going to be a Hall of Famer.
Debo Samuel is the most unique chess piece in the league.
There's nothing else like him in the league.
Brandon Ayyuk has emerged like C.D. Lamb is a number one receiver.
They just have, you don't get a break on these guys.
And then defensively, it's the second best.
pass rush in the league. It's the best linebacking duo in the league.
And everybody bangs on their corners, but they're not terrible.
Their corners are okay. They're not great. They're not the Jets, but they're not terrible.
Speaking of your Jets, any update, J-MAC on the Jets and what's happening?
Do we have to have an update on the chat? I mean, I mean.
Now, don't you think?
Let's be real. Among the interesting teams in the league, 32 teams.
Where are the Jets right now? Longest playoff drought, they're on like, what they try?
five starting quarterbacks this year, four or five.
Yeah.
I mean, they're a defensive coach.
Can't score.
Can't get in the end zone.
They can't do anything.
They're not interesting.
They're boring and dull.
I was thinking about Mike McCarthy this week.
You know, sometimes, like I don't, I don't put the Eagles, Cowboys in my blazing five.
But if you told me who I'm rooting for, I think Philadelphia is going to win.
I have this weird feeling.
But Dallas, all the odds makers, all the wise guys are on Dallas, so I stayed away.
So my instincts aren't the same as the market, so I'm staying away.
But it is interesting.
So Jordan Love and the Packers now, if you look at their schedule, the way they're playing,
they look like a playoff team.
If Dallas wins this weekend, they're in the running for the number one seed.
One year removed, Aaron Rogers leaves Green Bay.
The quarterback and the receiving crew is getting better by the week.
Jordan Love is gaining confidence.
obviously Matt LaFleur has confidence in him.
Isn't it interesting, though?
I think Aaron thought perhaps maybe he didn't care,
but nobody wants to leave.
Let's be honest.
Nobody wants to get a divorce, and she upgrades, or he upgrades.
You'd like to see your previous team get dinged a little.
I don't think Tom Brady lost any sleep.
You know, the Patriots have gone off the cliff since Tom left.
That looks good for Tom.
The bucks have gone off the cliff since Tom left.
That's good for Tom.
You don't want to leave a place and they upgrade.
The Packers right now are a better football team than last year with Aaron Rogers.
This minute, look at the numbers.
They are a better team right now, not even a full season without Aaron,
and the Cowboys in McCarthy, this is the best DAC has been.
It's pretty remarkable.
You just said, and we know Aaron got hurt.
but Aaron left no wake.
McCarthy is crushing without him.
Jordan Love, not even, we're just three quarters through the season.
No wake.
When Harbaugh left the Niners, not only did he win at Michigan,
the Niners went off a cliff.
When Brady leaves New England, the Patriots go off a cliff.
My question is, Aaron Rogers, at the end,
between leadership, quarterbacking, in the media,
leading rooms, elevating others, had no impact the minute he leaves.
None.
Green Bay is better now than last year at this time.
Well, do we need to pump the brakes on the Packers?
Three wins in a row.
Love's been good.
Are we really crowning him like in a great spot?
Three wins in a row.
Hammer the Lions, beat the Chiefs.
Another one was the Chargers close game.
But he went toe to toe with Justin Herbert and won.
So usually, if you're really the star, everybody said,
Peyton Manning leaves Denver.
Marino leaves Miami, Elway leaves Denver, Brady leaves New England.
Aaron leaves Green Bay.
They're better the next year.
Yeah.
You have to.
Not a great look for your guy.
It's not a great look.
It's not just what you do where you arrive.
What happens to where you leave?
The Packers are better than they were at this time last year.
Hour 3 next.
