This is the herd, wherever you may be, and however you may be making it's part of your day. Thanks so much. I'm Doug Galtley, in for Colin Cowher. So, how are things going with the Cowboys? Now, reportedly in Oxnard, where the Cowboys have trained for years, there's small crowds, even more gatherings in terms of their fan base. Now, there's a lot you can attest to. I mean, the first thing is that the Rams camp is in Orange County. The chargers are now in Los Angeles. They moved, you know, they moved to their new facility, which is actually in El Segundo in Los Angeles

County. So the Cowboys used to be the one team to stick their flag in the ground in Southern California, and they were still the Cowboys, so they were super popular. I think. some of it is the popularity of those other two teams, the proximity to, but a lot of it is, I think even cowboy fans are like, don't tell me you're pregnant, show me the baby. And they've been really close.

They put together consistent double-digit win seasons. But the collapse against the Green Bay Packers last year in the playoffs, the two untimely interceptions by DAC in that first half. I mean, look, you lose to a team whose defense is so bad that ultimately they fired their defensive coordinator, you know, what do you do? So there's a lot of questions about CD-LAM. And Jerry Drones, you know,

I don't know if he, I don't know if he intentionally tried to get everybody's attention. I mean, I'm guessing he did. Here was Jerry Jones asked yesterday about CD-LAM's negotiations. I went to high school or I went to college. I don't want to say it, but I'm just saying I don't know. I don't have a sense of urgency about getting it down. Because I have to love to any tradition.

But you'll take any reason you won't. All the laughing, all the yuck and all the chuckling. Here's John Middokoff last hour talking about C.D. Lambs' deal. You know you're going to pay them, but these contracts of 120, 130 guaranteed for a non-quarterback are just typically pretty tough, and there's a lot of back and forth, but eventually these teams sign it. The number is going to be astronomical.

Why not get him into camp right now and make sure he's in shape and ready to roll? I think that if we can admit a couple of things, right, there will be people that will always say, well, you know, Jerry Jones shouldn't be the GM of the Dallas Cowboys and shouldn't have his family making decisions. You may be right, but no one I know has said,

hey, the Cowboys don't have good players, having drafted good players. They've done a good job evaluating draft of players. CDLAM one of them. Well, the Cowboys did a bad job of last time around was the pecking order of deals getting done and when they were getting done. It's all a big math equation.

What do you do with Dak Prescott? If you redo Dak Prescott's deal, yes, you save money on the cap this year, but then you mean, that makes it where Dak Prescott's, Scott has to be your quarterback next year. And I'm not sure they're totally convinced of that. Is he a great leader?

Sure. Is he a good player? Okay. But how many times do you have to get the playoffs and San Francisco two years ago? Packers last year. He's just not good enough. So you have Michael Parsons. You have C.D. Lamb.

You have Dak Prescott. And whether or not there's urgency or not, the timing of it is really interesting. Whose deal gets done first when it gets done and how it gets done? and I would love it if Jerry Jones drew a hard and fast line in the sand. All he's saying is what anybody should be saying. Look, he's under contract. There's really no time to have to negotiate. We don't have to do anything.

Anything we do is out of the goodness of our hearts or managing the cap in years to come. Everything else is all budgeted for. And I think all of us. us know that ultimately Jerry is going to relent. Jerry is going to sign CD Lamb to a long-term big money contract, but the timing of it and being pushed into it doesn't always mean that it's the right time for the team. The things you can count on is no matter how hard you think, now how hard do you think Jerry Jones is going to hold firm on a stance of keeping contracts low?

or whatever he says, no one actually thinks he won't sign CD Lamb to a long-term big money contract. Because it really is a win-win. CD gets his money and Jerry and Stephen Jones get to say, see, we drafted another guy. That's the highest paid player in the league at his position. And I don't think people would push back on that for CD-LAM. But his no urgency to me signifies nothing he's saying is wrong. Everybody knows he's going to be signed.

And it's more about who's in the pecking order, who gets. their deal done first and how they manage leaving money and having the ability to sign to to to sign a DAC in the future if they want to if they want to I can't see them not wanting to because that's what the cowboys do but fascinating bit of sound and oh yeah by the way cd lamb took to social media and put on his was it on IG or one on uh on uh I think it's on Twitter he put LOL when he heard it I was on Twitter. And then when DAC was done with his press conference, he said, listen, I know you're going to ask you about it.

I think signing CD is urgent as well. But Jerry's saying there's no urgency. It doesn't mean there's no urgency. It just means what he's saying is, in fact, true. They do hold the cards. Will they use them? Probably not. But the truth is, the CD Lamb isn't a free agent for not just this year, but couldn't be for the next three years if they don't want to.

What's the purpose of having a collective bargaining agreement unless you actually use the car? collective bargaining agreement. All right. Just excited. Bob Coosie Top Rope. I just saw this. This is the Coos. I love Bob Coosie, but he's an angry Bostonium. Tatum is on the cover of Sports Cisterate this month. Any experts that I read lately have chosen him in the top five and sometimes number one in the effing world.

Now, Kerr is telling the world he doesn't agree. In a 40-minute game, you can't find five minutes to play somebody in a team without hurting yourself. What Kerr did last week, he was in no danger of losing the game. But in this case, you go down by 17, he's worried about losing the game and not let Tatum get out the bench. To me, there's got to be some kind of biased against him or against the Celtics. He's not alone. He's not alone there.

Like, what? He certainly had the opportunity to assess Tatum close up as an opponent. Now he's got him. I've been through these emotions from a coaching standpoint, 1973. I coached the American team, played against the Russians, who had just beaten us in the 72 Olympics. I had Bill Walton, Eddie DiGregorio, Bobby Jones, George Carl. I had a pretty good unit.

So I've been through the emotions from a coaching standpoint of what you deal with in international competition. Not playing Tatum at all says to the world, not only is he not top five. He's not good enough to get into a close game. I can't figure out what Kerr's thinking. He's done it twice. We obviously feel strongly about it.

He must think Tatum is a judgment. I don't see how he can feel that way and know anything about basketball. I love Bob Coosie. I will defend Bob Coosie playing against plumbers until the day that I die. But one, there's a little bit of truth to what he's saying in that there's a world where Jason Tatum is a detriment. Stop looking at international basketball through the lens of the NBA. It is not close to the same. Looks the same, feels the same.

It's not the same. It's officiated far differently. Far differently. It literally takes you as a player who has actually played professionally overseas. It takes you an entire season to feel in any way comfortable with anything that's done. Anything. And oh yeah, by the way, he's not, no one thinks Jason Tatum's a top five player in the world. Being first team all NBA does not mean you're a top five player in the world.

He's not in the solar system of Luca Donchick. Not close. Do you know why? Jason Tatum doesn't make others better. Jason Tatum is a great scoring wing. He scores. Is he better in international competition? Is he as efficient?

Is he as dependable as Kevin Durant? No. No one thinks that. It's basically what it is. Like, who would you choose? Kevin Durant, who's 35 years old, won an MVP, he won a couple NBA finals, and in the NBA finals,

he actually produced, as opposed to Jason Tatum, who was terrible in both NBA finals. And I think Jason Tatum is really good. But again, we're looking at through the eyes, the prism of the NBA. Why are we doing that?

Why would we do that? Because that's what we do. In the NBA, the five best players are not named Jason Tatum. But just because they're a top five player, and he's a top 10 player in the NBA, does not mean in any way

that we should view, the Olympics through the prism of the NBA. It's a different game, dude. And oh, yeah, by the way, we won. And every time you go to the bench, you're taking somebody's minutes away. It's a lot like surgery. You know, the more times you go in, the more times you run the risk of infection. They won, they look great.

He finally looked better. And oh, yeah, by the way, here's the last part to it. There's a pretty good chance that Jason Tatum is fighting it. They came back and won that game because they shared the ball because they defended with great energy. They were super physical. It was a grown man game. He is not a grown man in comparison to those other dudes.

But listen, if it fulfills your desire to have him go in there for five minutes, by all means, do you think Jason Tatum wants to play five minutes? No. And what happens with guys that usually play 30 minutes, 35 minutes a game, and they play for five minutes, condensing what you do into that, it never works. It's so hard to do. Mark Stein joins us. NBA reporter and writer.

I just, I feel like all of these people who are commenting on Jason Tatum are one, they're looking at through the prism of the NBA, and they're not realizing how tough this competition actually is. well the reality is with apologies to bob coozy the world is not thinking about jason tatem's minutes

Celtics fans are wondering and thinking about jason tatem's minutes nobody in the quote world is really focused on that and the reality is just the fact that you know if this is you know bob coozy comes out today with all this criticism it just shows you it's just another illustration of Steve Kerr, you know, they are never expected to lose. So it is the most second-guess coaching job you can probably have right now because they did almost lose that game. And everybody's going to have an opinion, but the coach is going to do whatever he thinks he has to do to win. And look, if you want to really register a concern,

the concern is what is this doing for Tatum Psyche in terms of 20, is he going to want to come back to this team. That to me is a valid concern, but Steve Kerr is not going to be coaching the Olympic team in 2028. So I'm sure he's not really worried about that right now. He's just trying to figure out how to win so he doesn't come home with a loss that, you know, will be on his resume forever. So, I mean, that's really, and again, I thought the United States was past wake-up calls. I thought they had found another. gear. I did not expect them to struggle the way

they did yesterday, but they did not defend anywhere near the level they needed to for three quarters, and it almost cost them. To their credit, they were down 17, 15, 11, whatever it was, they faced all these deficits and found

a way out. They survived amazingly. So, you know, they got out of what looked like the worst case scenario, but I mean, And the other thing here, too, is Jason Tatum has shot the ball poorly from distance for a long time now. It started in the playoffs. Here's the thing.

Okay. I'm sorry to interrupt, Mark. Like, again, what you're saying is, not you, what people are saying is you know more about players that he has coached for a month than he does. That's what you're saying. Like, just, again, that's your saying. And look, you're in for it now, too. everybody can coach that i mean that's the world we live in every single person in the world can coach they think they can so you know that's and steve cur knows what he signed up for he

knows he is going unless they win every game by 25 he is going to be second-guessed loudly and royally he knows the deal he was an assistant to gregg popovic so he's already seen it and lived it firsthand you know i went with that team to china in 2019 they finished him seven. Now the roster was nowhere near what this roster is, but a United States team with NBA players finishing seventh in a World Cup. Steve Kerr was on that staff. So he knows what this is like. He knows what he signed up for. And everything you do will be second-guessed. But, you know, he survived it and got the win. And, you know, now they're one win away. I was one of the few. I don't know where you were that said, I knew, I, I, I, I, I, I,

understood the Mbid thing. Wasn't in shape when he got there, but he stuck with him because he knew he would need him to beat Yokic. You have to have a legit five. Like, of the places we've gotten exposed is can't have small guards, right? And you have to have a legit five. And yesterday, he was rewarded. Were you in the same boat? Well, they wanted Mbid.

That was a big reason they wanted Embedged. But maybe the biggest reason they wanted him be because they didn't want him to play for France. it was the United States or France. Those were the two choices that Embed was looking at. And so they're thinking, not only do we need to get him because size and true center play has become a problem for the United States, but they, even though France has Wembenyama and Gobert, the United States did not want to see Embeded end up playing on the team that in the last five years, the United States' closest rival has

has been France. France beat them at the 2019 World Cup. They beat them in the first game of the Olympics that were played in 2021. They played them close in the gold medal game of the Tokyo Olympics. So the last thing the United States wanted was Embed ending up joining that team. But yeah, no question. I mean, Embedde was huge yesterday. I mean, LeBron, Curry, Durant, all huge in the fourth quarter. But they do not win that game without the way, and Bede played as well. So for all the heat and Bede is taken, that was certainly chapter that he enjoyed,

if you can see by everything he has done and said since the final buzzer of that win over Serbia. And it's going to be really interesting to see how hostile it gets for him Saturday night in Paris. It's going to be crazy, right? I mean, this is, because France traditionally, again, not recently, but traditionally, they've been a massive underachiever

an international competition, right? They've, they've had collapses. And now Francis is waiting for us in the finals. What do you think that that one's going to be like? I think because the French back court is so limited that because the U.S. defense was so poor for three quarters yesterday, I do think Team USA is going to bounce back and really apply a lot of pressure to the French guards and try to win the game that way with defense. And, you know, that's been a major issue for France. They don't really, you know, Wembe has not looked, you know, he's looked well short of spectacular offensively in these Olympics.

But part of the problem, I think, is much like we saw with the Spurs. I mean, they don't really have a point guard at all. You know, Nillikina is getting minutes. Evan Fornier, who's always been massive playing for the national team, and he's been Fibah Fornier for years, but he hasn't played up to his usual standard. Nando de Kolo's been there for ages now. Like, they just don't have

the guard play, I think, to keep up with the kind of defenders that the U.S. can throw at them. And again, it was such a scare. I mean, the U.S. was the U.S. trailed yesterday for 35 minutes. They only led the game for three minutes and changed. So I just think now that the gold is on the table

that they're going to come with a lot. a lot of defensive intensity and just make sure that they don't have another almighty scare like they did against Serbia. But France has momentum now, and it's going to be an insane home court advantage. I mean, 27,000 people rooting for the home team. So it'll be interesting for sure. No question. But I, my personal feeling is that it takes as much ego as LeBron has, and everybody's pointed out when he thought they were cheering for him and said they were cheering for the friend swimmer, right? Like there's a dude who's got a lot of ego. It did take a sacrifice of ego late in the game, the dagger shot that finished him off was the Kevin Durant mid-range pull-up. And while they kept the ball from Steph, LeBron could have gone one-on-one instead went to KD. What do you think, do you think, I guess is the better question, do you think that shows a pecking order in terms of go-to score at the end of a game for this team? Look, I think for the most part in this tournament, all of these guys, and look, Tate him to his credit, not like he's making waves.

He certainly can't be happy getting two, three DNPCDs, but this team really looks together. They all look bought in. I think LeBron is a huge part of that. And there's also the not so, I mean, LeBron is leading this team and scoring, rebounding, and assist at 39 and getting ready to play is 20 second season. So he's had a fantastic Olympics. And one of the best parts about yesterday were just all the quotes that came out of it. Everybody was so honest and raw just about how much this means.

And, you know, they know, they really probably should have lost to be down the whole game and have to escape the way they did. and LeBron knows it. I mean, the Lakers are far away from contention. This might be the last time he's on a stage like this to win something like this, when the whole world will be watching. I mean, the basketball this week has been awesome. If you love basketball, four quarterfinals on Tuesday, both semifinals yesterday were great. And now this championship game where France has home court advantage, again, last five years, France has been the closest. this thing to a rival that the United States has had. Lipperminiama, he hasn't played in high-stakes games. The Spurs don't play any high-stakes games. So this is by far the biggest game of his career. You bring in the whole Embedd-versus France storyline. And LeBron has been very open about it,

that he knows the opportunity here to get this win, get a third gold medal on his resume, Durant, of course, going for his fourth gold medal, which would be a record for a men's basketball player. So it's, I mean, the script writers did well here. All right. Do you think it benefits the NBA more if we win or France wins because then it's, you know, Wembe's League?

I don't know that there's really an NBA benefit because even if France pulled off a monumental upset, it's still not Wembe's League. I mean, the Spurs are still, the Spurs are going to be much better next season. They're going to be competitive. Chris Paul will make sure of that. And, you know, adding Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, I think you're going to see. a much more NBA representative team than we saw from the Spurs in Wemby's first season, but the Spurs ain't going to the playoffs next year.

So we're still a ways away from Wembe's League. But like I said, I can't see the United States losing now. After what happened yesterday and getting through it, I just think they are going to smother France with defensive pressure and they're going to get the gold. The other thing that has gone on traditionally on this trip is the, hey, we should play together sometime. But because these guys are older, most of them are older, that doesn't feel like the case. And then you have the three Celtics, so they're not going anywhere. does it feel like this team is different because they're older, they're more set like the Stefan LeBron thing's not going to happen, but this is the best that we can do, as opposed to years past when there was sort of the, I would always like to play with that guy sort of deal. Well, I know my good pal Brian Windhorst, who, you know, he now has the gig that I have with the SBN where I did 2012, 2014, 2016 with Team USA.

He's the Team USA correspondent now, and I don't know if he was saying it, for she, or, you know, I think people do wonder, will Aunt Edwards be influenced in the future by any relationships he's building now? But, you know, that's another thing, too. Yesterday, you know, Kerr went away from Anthony Edwards, too. And in the group play, Anthony Edwards was the leading score for this team. So it's like, I don't think Kerr is worrying about anybody's feelings right now except just win this thing and avoid an international incident. I mean, this is the, this team, you know, I've asked Grant Hill. about this repeatedly since Grant Hill took this program over.

Like in college, he played under a lot of pressure at Duke. They were always expected to win. But this has even ramped up further. Like when you play for the United States, when you represent USA basketball, you are never allowed to lose. Nobody wants to hear about rosters or circumstances. And so I think they're all just at this point. Let's get one more.

Get to the finish line. But in terms of, yeah, I don't know that we're seeing. any, we're seeing any free agent stuff we need to monitor yet. Fair enough. He's Mark Stein. He's got the Stein line. Speaking of which, Lakers, are they going to do anything to add another player before the season starts? I mean, before the season, I don't think so.

You know, they're just, this is the reality in this new second apron world. That just there isn't a move they can make unless they can shed salary first. And that's what's kept them, you know, Gary Trenge. junior available for the minimum, I'm sure as a player, they would have loved to sign, but because of the team building restrictions that would kick in if they go into the second. You know, they're right. You know, the small pay cut LeBron took left them literally less than 50,000 away from the second apron line.

So they couldn't even sign Trent to a minimum deal without becoming a second apron team. and then you're really in trouble. So it's not for a lack of desire, but they would have to find a way to shed, and you're not going to, the only way you can shed salary is by attaching draft picks to it and, you know, trying to trade,

trade away a player by putting a second round pick with it. So they haven't had any luck striking those kind of deals. So I think they're probably going to have to go into the season with the team they have and then see what develops on the trade market as the season unfold. He's the one and only Mark Stein. This is the herd line news. Hello, Mark Stein. Hello, Doug. Love Mark Stein. Always great basketball chat with Mark Stein, but we're going to talk some NFL here. And the NFL is exploring new technology. to assist officials with ball spotting in close yardage situations

to determine first downs, things of that nature. It's known as the Sony Hawkeye. Well, Doug, last night in the Lions Giants preseason game, we got our first look. It was a close call on 3rd and 5 for the Lions, whether or not they reached the line to gain. They went to review, and essentially what happens is it takes time for this technology to produce an animated image

that shows the lions were in fact about a foot or too short of the first line marker. Now the big drawback here that most people had complaints with one person on awful announcing documented it said it took about three to four minutes from the start of the review process for the image to be produced

and make the final ruling. So, the NFL experimenting with some new technologies, doing what they do best, which is try and get ahead, on these new advancements, but it does appear that we are not necessarily close to this being implemented into a regular season game just yet. Yeah, I mean, the big thing is that the time it takes. I get that we all want to get it right.

There's a certain imperfection to sports that we kind of want to maintain, and yet we don't want to maintain. It's a very hard one. Very hard one. But yeah, I read about how long that was, and a bit of a debacle. but that's what happens in the early stage. It's just, why can't we get Cyclops the way they have it in tennis? Yeah, apparently this is a, the, I don't know exactly who does the cyclops in tennis,

but this essentially is the football version of that to where you're not actually getting a direct camera feed of, oh, here's the ball and here's where it landed. It's that animated produced image. Now, how tennis is able to do it in a much fast, much fast, fashion than this Sony Hawkeye technology. I can't say specifically, but that's what it's trending towards.

Got it. What else? All right. We'll go to the Olympics now and we'll touch on the women's basketball team. Another win, another dominant win for the U.S. women's basketball team this time over Australia and they now advance it to the gold medal game. Final score

of that game was 85 to 64, so another route for the U.S. women's team. And as they continue to breeze through this tournament just kind of has people question. You know, Colin was a big proponent of getting Caitlin Clark and or Angel Reese

on this roster so that they could get some minutes during these blowouts. How are you feeling about that as they appear to be on the cusp of winning another gold medal? Have you watched any of the women's basketball? I have only watched at times while at work or yes.

So the answer is no. I have not gone out of my way in my own personal downtime. No. Okay. This is a really test here. Okay? And two of you can opt in on this. Over the last couple months, had you gone out of your way to watch either the NCAA or watch the WNBA?

Yes. Yes. Had you ever previously in your life gone out of your way to watch the WNBA? No. No, not off the top of my head. No, I can't think of an instance. USA women's basketball are the dumbest human beings on the face of the earth. They're just dumb.

There's jump. Now, there's a bunch of reasons to it. We could say just jealousy is at one, but I mean their coach is completely jealous of the attention that she's got, and she's basically done the shooter McAvon. We were too busy winning. Like, look, here's the thing. The women's

team has won how many in a row? Something crazy. I think it's this will be eighth, I think. We'll be the eighth gold medal in a row, right? I believe that's the case. Did anybody know anything about the previous seven teams? No. The only reason we

would have cared was because Caitlin Clark was on it. And stop with the Angel Reese thing. It's so disingenuous. Oh my God, we got to talk about Angel Reese and give her equal time. It's not politics. We don't have to give her equal time. Hey?

Shooting the ball off the bottom of the rim to yourself multiple times and getting rebounds. That doesn't intrigue America. What Caitlin Clark does. And oh yeah, by the way, they're winning. But the idea that they had to see her do it in the WNBA, like, dude, stop. It's a completely different way of selecting a team even than the men's team. because the men, we knew they'd be challenged. We knew it.

And you had to find somebody who would be happy not playing. And we don't know if Jason Tatum's not happy not playing. Tyrese Halberton, to this point, hasn't said boo. So the point is women were going to win regardless, but we were only going to pay attention if she was on the team. She's not on the team, so why should I pay attention to them? Yeah, I think that's sort of the big difference is that I guess maybe they felt the pressure that if she was on the team,

they needed to put her in the starting lineup, but I think most people... No one would have said that. That's completely made up. Completely made up. I'm saying... Yeah, by the way, if you don't want somebody saying,

hey, why aren't you playing like Jason Dayton? Don't take the job. Really simple. Don't take the job. Like, you know, if you take over USA basketball, you can have 12 dudes, and you can't play 12 dudes in games that matter, and there's going to be games that matter,

and it's a different sport, and you're going to have to make some hard decisions. Okay? Don't take the women's national. team job if you can't take a tough decision going like hey I didn't play her just because it's a pin in a rotation we're gonna do don't do my job don't do that job that's what the job is lots of people can organize and can you get the players to respect you can you deliver the right messages can you handle the egos the

reputation like that's what the job is that's like a janitor coming in going I don't want to clean toilets like well then you probably can't be custodial services right? What else? attainable. And I'll give you the perfect example that is, well, Brandon Ayyuk, Brandon I.Uke reportedly turned down 32 million a year average, four years, $128 million contract due to concerns of the Patriots quarterbacks. That's per the athletic. So I actually think this is kind of a societal thing, right, where we truly, truly reach for perfection. I mean, it's not the first plastic surgery that makes people look.

like there's some cartoonish character. It's the multiple surgeries. Because what happens is you get the first surgery, you're like, oh, can you just, I've always hated this about my face. I've always hated this about my nose. And then they do it, you're like, oh, that's a little bit better.

It's not perfect. It's a little bit better. What if you just took the bags out from under my eyes? And then there's another surgery and another one and another one. And pretty soon, you know, you look like a space creature. And they're like, well, we got to put fillers here and that there. and you just, everyone knows somebody or has seen somebody on social media

that's gone through too much plastic surgery, right? All that is is a chase for perfection. It's the same thing with college athletics. We had a really good system. Now you try to perfect it. Hey, let's pay players. And you open up a whole new Pandora's box. And now it's, is it worse?

Is it better? It's definitely not perfect. You know, so Brandon Ayyuk, like, look, dude, if you want a contract now, here's the contract you want. Oh, it's not with the team I want. Yeah, well, listen, you can't get perfect. Here's John Middokoff last hour when asked why Ayyuk might not be going anywhere.

Yeah, to me it feels like at this point he's kind of stuck. Like, where's you going? I think they lift a fire in, because imagine if me and you ran the Browns, and the Niners have a pretty good idea, like he's never going to accept their contract. So they negotiated trade, and then who do you think leaked out that Amari Cooper was in the trade? The Browns wouldn't do that, right? The Niners did. So I think the Niners have tried every tactic possible to be like,

Brandon, you're stuck in this modern nice way. Stugatlebe in for Colin. This is the herd. That's John Minokov, hosted a three and out podcast earlier today. He's like, yeah, you're stuck. Sorry, that's the deal. You had a chance to go and play for more money, but you would have played in relative obscurity with quarterbacks you don't think

are very good in New England where it's cold, and you're not going to play in the playoffs. In this world of, hey, why don't you bet on yourself? Why won't you bet on himself? Now, the truth is, the Niners don't have to, they don't have to give a new contract next year or the following year. They have to pay him through the nose with the franchise tag and it'll hurt them against the cap, but they don't have to pay them.

They don't have to do anything. They have to pay more money, but it's a one-year deal. I'm just always fascinated by how many people just take the players' side just to take the player's side. Look, this is the collective bargaining agreement. this is what you agreed to. You have tried to force a trade. They presented a trade to you that paid you the amount of money you want.

Like, yeah, I don't like that team. Like, okay, but you like the team you're on. Yes. The reason the Niners work is because Brock Pretty doesn't make any money. All of that is changing next year. Brock Pretty makes no money this year. So they don't have much money. They can spread it out on Debo and Fred Warner and,

and I mean, you name it. You kind of go through the Niners roster, and you're like, wow, that is, there's like six dudes who are as good or better at what they do and how they play than anybody else in football. Christian McCaffrey, voted his top five player. That's where all your money goes.

And the money is going to go to Brock Purdy. I'm not as in on Brock Purdy as they are. But, again, I don't watch them every day in practice. I don't know what they're looking for. I think that Brock Purdy's lack of true armed talent, is going to ultimately come back and get them, just like it did last year. But I could be wrong.

Kyle Shanahan has forgotten more about quarterback play within his offense than I'll ever know. But the reason it truly works is they're an ensemble cast. And the only way you get an ensemble cast is somebody's got to take a little less money. And right now it's Brock Purdy not taking any, and it doesn't feel like Brandon Ayukas wants to come off it. The only difference is the only team to this point

willing to give him the money he wants is a team he doesn't want to play for. is a team he doesn't want to play for all right got a tremendous third hour the show for you we got some beef with me and Jemak as he's on this like almost feels like he's a relative
