This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel
and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

I don't care what I'm saying.
Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media.
Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard,

So let's get to it.

On the Look Back at it podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84's big to me.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year,
unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians,
and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1.
Great to have you.
Yes, sometimes I get lucky.
I had Warriors in six.
And there was some doubts.
We have three hours to fill every day.
There were some doubts early in the series.
Boston had some really nice matchup.
I still think Robert Williams.
That's the ultimate Colin was right.
I said, he's on the floor,
the difference maker. Robert Williams,
I think everybody outside of Boston
saw the value of a rim protector.
That dude is insane.
He made everyone on the court look small.
I mean, if you wonder why
Rudy Gober makes what Rudy Gobert makes
and rim protectors, like Luke and Dallas is not a great defender.
defender. So they got Christian Wood. He's not a great defender. But Rudy Gobert was suggested
to fit with Luca. That's why is that if you get beat off the dribble, it's a dead end sign.
Like Robert Williams is, they would show these slow-mo shots of him blocking. Clay is like six, five.
And he's literally from behind him is swatting it into the fourth row. Yeah, he had a couple of plays
last night that I was like, ooh, I'm better quit playing with him. So I've been on this.
now and I get pushed back, but I firmly believe it, is that you all want to put all these players
in the superstar category, and it's a tiny, tiny group of superstars. A big difference between
somebody worth $100 million and a billionaire. The billionaire club's very small. That's real wealth.
Somebody can be worth $200 million. They get divorced. The market goes down. There were 40.
It's a lot of money, but compared to a billionaire. Billionaires don't have to work.
Billionaires read. Try to stay up on things.
billionaires don't work. They don't need to. Their assets grow by hundreds of millions a month.
Not working, not investing. And so there's just very, very few superstars.
Now give you an example, we just watched Stefan Clay. One guy can do everything.
One guy has absolute offensive limitations. One guy's a great shooter. One guy's okay.
One guy can initiate offense. One guy can't. One's the best ball handler in the sport. The other is a poor ball handler.
And I like Jason Tatum, but he's not a great ball handler. Can't initiate offense. Not what he does.
So we saw the gap and you want to put them in the same club.
Now think about this.
Let's compare how.
Now, we all know that Steph is on my number two Mount Rushmore.
LeBron's on my number one Mount Rushmore.
So let's put up LeBron and Steph's numbers all time.
And look at the gap between LeBron and Steph.
And we all know how great Steph is.
LeBron's got twice the MVP's, four times the final MVP's,
two and a half times the All-Star selections.
and six times the all defense elections,
and his career numbers are significantly bigger.
And that's LeBron over Steph.
So you're going to tell me you want to put Jason, Tatum,
and Luke in the same club as LeBron?
You better have a VIP room upstairs with only LeBron then.
So you're all trying to make everybody Tom Cruise.
Tom Cruise just had a $300 million movie.
I don't want to hear about somebody who had a nice article in Variety Magazine.
Never heard of them?
Not getting Middle America to a theater.
don't care how cool and woke you are. Nobody cares. Tom Cruise movie is going to make $350 to $400 million.
That's a movie star. He gets into a club you don't. Even if you've won an Emmy, you want a Tony.
You're not Tom Cruise. Rolling Stones, you two, Bon Jovi. Look at the money they make. Yeah, they're old.
Cruz, Brady, LeBron, Steph. We're always ready to bury these guys. But the advantage they have,
over everybody else is the institutional knowledge.
I mean, Steve Kerr has played in six finals.
He's coached in five finals or something.
Those numbers are close.
His knowledge of the situation, and I think IMA Oduca is great.
And I thought Steve Kerr manipulated him in the series and Steph manipulated Tatum.
I mean, when you watch this series, Tatum and Jalen Brown to start the series,
we're getting so much dribble penetration.
At the end of the series, last three games, none.
I mean, so the gap between Steph and Tatum is the Grand Canyon.
The gap between LeBron and Steph is the Grand Canyon.
You can't be just throwing guys in there because they had back-to-back really nice years
and they're all-stars.
There's a million.
A lot of people in movies are movie stars.
There's one Tom Cruise.
He is the last movie star in the world that can drive a $400 million movie.
It may make more than that globally.
And the other thing about Steph is we all want to put these guys to bed early, right?
and Brady just keeps going and going and going and and you know because step is a shooter and a
ball handler barring a you know a bad injury he's going to age very well these hyper athletic basketball
players like a Westbrook don't age well they age quickly they fall off a cliff because they need
athleticism and the minute they have their second or third knee surgery they're not the same player
step's got three or four more finals in him barring big injuries because he's got the coached
He's got the support system. He won't have to play as many minutes. Shooters and ball handlers age very very well. Here's Steph after his fourth title in eight years.
Steph, what does just this mean to you to finally be a finals MVP after everything?
Forget that. We champs. Why are you starting with that question? We got four championships.
It's special man, special. Just all the work that went into it, all of the faith and belief and everybody in that locker room that's getting
the spray champagne around the locker room.
Everybody mattered in that process.
So I'm just proud of everybody.
You know, we were talking about as a staff this morning,
about if you looked at the box score,
one of the reasons I sit down at night,
Joyce sits down, you have to watch the games.
Box scores, numbers lie.
If you looked at field goal percentage,
three point percentage, free throw percentage,
assists fast break points and points in the paint,
you would have thought the game was a seesaw fair,
went back and forth, decided by two.
when you watch this game and when you watch the series over the last three games,
it really wasn't that competitive.
It really wasn't.
The Warriors dribble penetration.
They completely stopped Tatum and Brown from getting that early in the series.
I thought the longer the series went, I thought the Celtics looked uncomfortable,
discombobulated, uneven.
And I think Boston's a really good basketball team.
But if you, you start looking at the box score in the first three games in the last three,
it's as simple as this, folks.
The Warriors figured out Boston's limited offense.
And we knew this.
Boston's clutch time analytic points were near the bottom of the NBA.
Boston was not a good shooting team.
I think they were 14th in the NBA in threes.
So it does take a, you know, that's why March Madness is so unique.
You don't have time to figure a team out.
The best team does not always win in March Madness.
Your star gets into foul trouble.
I got a reserve off the bench who it's four straight threes.
Duke looks up and they're like, we're trailing to who?
Like what makes March Madness special is over the course of three weeks, the best teams get through it.
But there's always multiple games in March Madness where the best team does not win games.
You go to a seven game series, the best team wins the games, barring injuries.
The Raptors beat the Warriors because Golden State fell apart.
But if you look at this series, it's really two.
series. It was the first three games and Boston did a good job to hide their weaknesses.
And then the smartest team in the NBA figured them out. And then there's the last three games
and they weren't that competitive. It was really no rhythm. And this is not like a shot at them.
Because I do think Boston's really well coached and has really good players. But that's what's
great about having a longer series is that ultimately the more refined team,
if you have a good coach, and to get to the finals,
you generally have to have a pretty good coach.
Remember, we used to criticize Boudin'holes were in Milwaukee,
and then you watch them win the finals,
and you're like, yeah, he's figured it out.
Coaches like players can get better and evolve.
But the first three games of this series,
Boston hid their flaw.
The first three games of this series,
the Warriors didn't.
We thought they were small.
We thought they couldn't stop Jalen Brown.
Those weren't flaws.
They were all solvable.
The Warriors had the personnel to solve all their problems.
They out rebats.
to the Celtics in the last three games.
The Celtics did a great job of hiding their weaknesses for the first three games.
And then eventually Golden State, because of their intellectual capabilities, figured
them out.
So when I was watching that game last night, I thought if these teams played five more times,
if they played another seven game series, it'd be a sweep.
Because Golden State's got the, they have the understanding of what that team can't do.
Once you shot off their drivel penetration from Brown and Jason Tatum, their half-court
offense has absolutely no rhythm. It's a bad half-court offense. So they've got to solve that.
They need another shooter. Go get a buddy healed. They've got to get another guy that can just hit
threes and that's what he does and he can have flaws. He doesn't have to be a great defender because
they got enough great defenders. They've got to go find a shooter. And they also have to find
somebody that can initiate offense because I love Marcus Smart. But there's a reason that Brad
Stevens went out and got Campbell Walker. His knees fell apart. But Kemba could initiate offense.
So I don't want everybody dumping on Jason Tatum this morning because he just, he needs help.
Curry's got much more help.
I mean, and I, nobody's a bigger fan than Steph Curry.
I've been singing his praises for as long as I've been doing this show.
But boy, he's got, he's got some real help.
I mean, Jordan Poole, first game of the series, I'm like, get him off the floor.
He's a total liability.
At the end of this series, it's like, wow, we said this yesterday before the game.
Imagine put Jordan Poole is exactly.
exactly what they could use in Boston.
Somebody that can initiate offense, can hit a three, is a naturally gifted offensive player.
Not much on the defensive end, but the Celtics are so good defensively.
You don't have to go get another defensive player.
You've got to get somebody who's a skilled offensive performer and initiate stuff in the
half-court offense.
Kenny Smith, a two-time NBA champ.
He's in that new movie Hustle starring Adam Sandler.
He's also part of the greatest pre-and-post game show in the history of the world on TNT.
He knows it.
I know it.
Everybody in the world knows it.
So, you know, it's really funny.
Kenny, even though I picked the Warriors to win the series in six,
I did not love this team this year because I felt that the old guys were a little
past their prime, and the young guys, pool, comminga, moody, wise, but they weren't ready.
And I thought, Phoenix has more guys ready to go.
I'm kind of surprised, not that they won this series, I'm surprised they won the title.
are you? Well, I don't think I'm surprised. I think the one thing that, you know, overall, Golden State did a great job of what they did differently from any other year is the fact that they didn't turn the basketball over. A lot of times they were loose with the ball in years past. But if you give Steph Curry 20 shots and you take 20, you're going to lose. You give Clay Thompson 20 shots and you take 20. You're going to lose. And as a team, I just thought that they didn't have those.
those disparities between possessions, meaning one team gets 80 shots because we turn the ball over
and they're offensive rebounded and we only get 60.
So now, yeah, of course you're going to lose games and lose titles.
But this year, they were great.
Same as in the past, even when they had Kevin Durant, if you give those guys multiple shots
and you give them the same amount of shots, you're going to lose the game.
When did you watch Steph Curry?
Because you do this for a living.
Maybe you saw him in college.
When did you identify and go, wow, now that guy is going to be something.
That guy could last a long time.
When was the moment for you, the epiphany when you saw him?
Well, the first time I saw him, obviously, was at Davidson.
You know, obviously being in University of North Carolina, you know, a lot of people
and friends in that area had told me about him.
You know, I hadn't seen him play until he got to college.
I never saw him play in high school.
But really what put him on the map for me was Mark Jackson.
Mark Jackson calls me up.
He and our childhood friends.
We grow up.
He's coaching the Golden State Warriors.
He gets there and he goes, Kenny, I'm going to be in the White House with these guys.
I'm like, in the White House.
Like, what are you doing?
You're going to be visiting some people.
You're taking a tour?
He's like, he's like, no.
And then before he said it on television, he's like, I got the two best shooters in the history of basketball.
in my gym.
Wow.
And I was like, get out of here.
I was like,
these guys aren't that good.
He's like,
no, Kenny,
I've never seen,
he says,
I play with Chris Mullen.
I play with Reggie Miller.
They shoot better than they do.
And he called it out.
And so the first time I was ever put on the radar about Steph Curry,
where I thought he could be a all-time great was through Mark Jackson.
And he's like,
I'm just going to let these guys play.
Yeah,
what a great story.
You know, Kenny, by the way, Kenny again, is Hustle Netflix,
at Hustle Netflix, a Netflix film part of the new movie Hustle,
starring Adam Sandler, also on TNT, as you well know.
The number one movie on Netflix.
Let's get it there.
That's right.
Can you believe?
I've never thought I'd be saying I'm a key actor in a number one movie in the world.
Like that it doesn't even sound right to me, but it's a lot of fun.
Well, you're on the number one pregame show as well.
And that's not a surprise either.
As much as I love Charles Barkley, somebody's got to rein him in once in a while.
So I was thinking about this the other day, Kenny, that all my favorite athletes have something in common.
It's not talent and it's not titles.
My favorite athletes all have a commitment to winning, whether it's Russell Wilson or Brady or it's LeBron or it's Steph or it was Peyton Manning.
Winning, they're famous and they may enjoy that fame.
But I look around at Steph and this is nothing again.
against anybody else in the league.
But I feel bad for KD.
Because I think KD's about winning.
And now he's got players around him that are enigmatic, difficult, not as consistent,
whether it was Harden or Simmons or Kiree.
And I watched that last night.
And I thought, I feel bad for KD.
Because he made a decision that I said at the time,
KD, you're about winning.
Stay with winners.
Stay with guys that think like you do.
Do you think there is privately a little sadness for KD as he watched that last night?
I don't know if there's sadness for KD.
I don't know what kind of makes him tick in that realm.
I don't know them that well.
But I would say for me personally,
if that was me on the other end of it,
for me, I would be more engaged to winning.
I would be like, okay, the guys that I left, one,
I'm going to show the world
and show myself, more importantly, that I could do it as well.
Because I don't think I made a bad decision.
I just think I made a decision that didn't make it as easy.
Right.
And, you know, so that's how I would think.
So I do believe that what it does say is, though,
how great a players, Steph Clay, Drayman, and Steve Kerr as a coach is
and the rest of that cast to continually do that without an Niagara player as KD on their team.
A guy who, when he came there, they came to a 71 team, but was still the best player on that team.
You know, and even Steph took a backseat too.
So I think that, you know, that says a lot about those four guys and what they're able to accomplish.
And a lot about Wiggins as well as how he's come in and really filled the,
the void that was needed there.
Are you shocked how valuable Wiggins became?
I watched him in the last three games and I'm like,
they don't win without him. I thought he was that valuable.
I'm not, which is funny because when the playoffs started,
our producer, he pulled the clip and he said,
Kenny, you remember this? And I had forgotten.
When Andrew Wiggins got traded to Golden State,
the first thing I said, I said, he's going to be an all-star.
And everyone was on the set lap.
They're like, what are you talking about?
I was like, yeah, because the one thing,
that he struggles with is to be a consistent scorer. He doesn't struggle with any other aspect
of his game other than get me 25 points. And so he doesn't have to do that now. So all of the
other things you could see when you're on a winning environment, because sometimes when you're
the number one pick or you're the guy, they go to get, you're not gone in the best guy tonight.
We need you to get 25. And if scoring isn't your easiest thing that you do, sometimes
you still get 17.
And I thought scoring isn't the easiest thing that he does as a basketball player.
I thought his ability to break the press and be the ball handler,
I think his ability to defendants, his ability to offensive rebound.
Those are the easiest things that come from, not that he can't do the other things.
I think those are just the easiest.
But Jason Tatum, scoring is the easiest thing that comes to him.
And I don't mind, and he doesn't mind missing 10 shots in a row.
So to me, I thought that, yes, this is the Andrew Wiggins that I was expected.
Finally, hustle on Netflix.
How accurate is the movie's portrayal of an NBA real life, Kenny?
I would say it's probably because the reason it's being well received,
I think it pulled back a curtain that most people didn't know.
Like I have friends that follow NBA and go, I didn't know a scout had to do all that.
I'm like, I said, wow.
I thought I took for granted that everyone know that scouts do that.
Secondly, the accuracy is probably about a 90% accuracy and about what happens behind the scenes in an NBA franchise.
And what happens between relationships between agents and scouts and NBA owners and general manager and present is about a 90% accuracy.
like this is what happens behind the scenes maybe even 95 like you know I just think that some of the jokes are better
Kenny what a pleasure you've had such a great career you're such an ambassador for the sport and I mean it the
you guys from Ernie shack Barkley your producers you put on such a great show it's often way better than
those regular season games that are bought at halftime I just love watching it and I love what you bring to
the table, raining in the guys and stand between Shaq.
And boy, have Shaq and Barclay come to blows, and you and Ernie are in the middle.
I wish you the very best to luck on that.
No, I'm throwing kerosene on it every time I'm trying to get them to do it.
That's great television.
I want them to go at it.
I'm always like, I'm always kicking Chuck under the table, whispering what Shaq said,
and I'm always whispering what Shaq said, what Charles said about Shaq.
Like, you know he said this about, I want to see it happen.
Let's go live, May 19th.
Hustle, Netflix.
Great seeing you, Kenny.
Thanks for coming on the herd.
Thanks for having me.
You bet.
That's interesting.
I love the clips we showed of that because I have a couple, I have about, I have a lot of
scouts because I always told you that was kind of my, I want to be.
Yeah, so it's great.
I've seen it.
Okay, you saw, you got went to the premiere.
Yeah.
I don't get invited to those.
There you go.
I don't get invited to the grand opening of my daughter's bedroom when Ann
redesigns it.
So, but it looks like the scouts lie.
and you get this sort of this labyrinth of the NBA life all the way to the front office.
Yeah.
And that kind of stuff fascinates me.
It's, uh, it is very accurate.
And I think that one other thing they did really well with the movie is they have a lot of active players in the movie.
Right.
So they have so many cameos.
So the basketball scenes are not scripted.
They're not, you know, it's not actors pretending to play basketball.
That's the worst.
They're really playing basketball.
And Anthony Edwards is great.
great in it. Like he has this kind of villainy type of role and it's really good. I enjoyed it.
That was my knock on winning time. When they were developing the personalities, I love the first five
episodes. Then when they went to basketball. Yeah, it was very theatrical. And I'm like,
that's, that's not a hooper. That's just an actor. I mean, it doesn't bother me because I'm
suspending reality over all of it anyway. But for this movie, it's like, they're really the players.
They're really playing. One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week within the

We also have AIDS on the table right now.

I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

This is the herd line news.
Well, Steph Curry added just another jewel in the crown of his legacy last night,
not only with his fourth ring, but of course finals MVP after putting up 34 points
in the 103-90 win, game six in Boston over the Celtics.
And he's heard a lot of narratives throughout his career.
but who he is and where he stands all time.
And he admits that he did want to quiet the haters with his fourth ring.
He said, I hear all the narratives.
You hear everything about what we are and what we aren't and what I am as a player and what I'm not.
I have a hard time figuring out what they're going to say now.
So this is pretty special.
Yeah, I'm going to call you a champion for the fourth time in eight years.
That's pretty good.
Seth Curry, his brother chimes in, tweeting,
don't talk about Steph again unless it's in a combo with the all-time great
players, and I mean a handful of people to ever touch a basketball.
Exactly. Here, here, Seth Curry, exactly. I was, I can admit it now, I was rooting for
the Warriors. I was. I mean, first of all, I'm a heat fan, so it's who's impossible for me to root
for Boston, although I do like this team, these players on this team. I like them. I like
Eme. It's just, it's just those jerseys. Can we get them in a different jersey? I can get with it.
But also, this was an important championship in the history of the NBA.
When you talk about legacies and dynasties and all-time great players,
Seth Curry, or let's me, Seth Curry,
Steph Curry winning finals MVP.
So that quiets that conversation of, well, he was never really great in the finals.
Like, he never won finals MVP.
So was he really ever the best player on a championship team?
That's, we can close that conversation now, close that chapter.
Can they win without KD?
Obviously, that chapter is close, although I don't know why it was open because they won a championship
before KD.
Now, the next thing that's going to come up because people can never let people be great is
the money conversation.
Like, are they buying their championships now?
Again, I don't mind people being critical of legacies.
I don't mind people picking things apart.
But just tell the story accurately when you do it.
Like, if you have a problem with an owner spending a bunch of money on players that he drafted,
that the team drafted and developed.
then say that. Say that you should not be able to pay into the luxury tax that it shouldn't
exist. It should be a hard cap. And keep that same energy for every single team, including the one
that you want to win. There are no discount dynasties. Everybody's getting paid on all these teams.
No, that doesn't exist anymore. But there are people who are like, well, you know, they're paying
in this insane luxury tax. I don't care. I don't care either. I don't care. Doesn't mean anything
to me. You can find someone else to talk to about it because I personally don't care. I like when
owners invest in the players that they drafted, which by the way, they were,
Plenty of other teams who had an opportunity to draft these guys.
It's not like they were number one overall picks.
And by the way, even with Wiggins, he was available to the marketplace called a phone call.
Nobody wanted him.
Yep.
So Darvindham is in the early stages of his first offseason with the Lakers.
And the biggest question is what is going to happen with Russell Westbrook and how is he going to handle it?
He already said that he thinks Westbrook is not only still a great player, but can be a part of a winning formula.
And now he's taking it a step further in giving us a taste of what we should expect from Russell Westbrook next.
season. One thing we always preached, then we'll continue to preach to be our foundation of our
teams is a defensive mindset, being able to defend at a high level. And I challenged him,
and he accepted the challenge. Sometimes he's going to be off the ball, slashing,
sometimes he's going to play in the dunker. Sometimes he's going to be initiating things.
He may post up a little bit. He may be the screener in picking roles.
Well, he hadn't been an elite defender for about eight years. And I don't think he was ever an elite
but that's a big ask.
Here's the thing with Russell Westbrook.
I don't believe it.
I don't believe that Russ can change.
I don't either.
I just don't believe it.
I think he's had opportunity after opportunity.
And last year was probably the best opportunity with the injuries that they had
to really step up in a leadership role,
to buy into what the coach was selling,
to really be embraced by.
by a fan base that is that that loves its players to the highest level and you play with
LeBron everybody plays great with the brawl everyone is better with LeBron so I think that
Darwin is bringing a new energy in a different mindset and him being a former player him being a
champion him having the experience that he's had as an assistant coach him winning a championship
recently I think that he comes in with a certain energy that they are going to respect
but I just think when it comes to Russell Westbrook,
he just is going to default back to what he is.
I hope that he has the wherewithal to adjust his game
and to buy into what they're selling.
I just, I don't doubt the game plan from Darvranham.
What I doubt is Russ's ability to buy into it.
Right.
Because I haven't seen that in the last couple years.
Yeah, I've seen the evidence that that's not.
I mean, you're playing with champions.
You're playing with Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
champions. You're playing with LeBron who makes everyone better, who makes every culture better,
who elevates everyone, and it didn't work. So the Deshawn Watson saga continues and gets worse every day.
He is looking to clear his name from all of these cases, and he has been attending Brown's OTAs
while he waits a decision on the potential suspension from the league. Some reports indicate that
some NFL executives believe he should be banned from taking the field until all his pending lawsuits
are resolved.
Yeah.
This is via pro football talk.
The league is very concerned about the drip, drip, drip of more cases being filed.
The new cases, the looming cases, and the possibility for even more cases, coupled with
the recent media coverage of Watson's conduct, have given more credibility to those in the
league office who want Watson to be sidelined until the litigation has completely ended.
Yeah, this is, to me, this is so now common sense.
He's not playing football.
I think you just got to go.
They have not taken it seriously.
He doesn't want to settle.
I think it's over.
I think you just get him out of the NFL for a year.
And I don't even think it's an – I don't know how you'd argue otherwise.
I'm very concerned about how this plays out.
I have to be honest with you.
It gets messier by the day.
There was a report yesterday that the NFLPA might push back on how long the suspension is
because of precedent – I don't know what precedent they're talking about because there's 24 civil cases.
And guys who have been suspended in the past have had one, possibly two incidents of misconduct that led to their
suspension. So I don't know what you can possibly point to to compare it to. But Colin, even if they
suspend him for a year, you have to consider each of these cases are individual. He has to go to court
for each of these cases. And again, just because the criminal cases did not go through, which by the way,
might still happen with these new cases, there might be additional criminal charges separate from the
ones that were dismissed. What if he loses these cases? Yeah, one. What if he loses one? Yeah.
What does that mean?
Do you suspend him again?
I just think this is a real,
this is a bad situation for the league,
and I don't know because the Browns have taken this leap
with this massive guaranteed contract.
I don't know how you get out of it.
Nobody in the league.
None of these owners are going to side with the Browns after that contract.
None of that.
As they shouldn't.
Jimmy Haslam right now is persona non-grada in the league.
Like, owners are furious.
It was a massive swing on it on a very,
very volatile toxic situation.
Yeah, joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.

of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Absolutely.

It is always great to have him on the show.
So the NBA finals last night.
Yes.
The Warriors beat the Celtics.
Now it's going to be a very interesting offseason.
Some guys out there hanging around.
You know what we do, right?
What?
We're going to tell you where they're going.
Okay.
Yes, that's what happens.
We call it tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline for LeBron
James this offseason.
You know, I don't remember.
Joy, I thought I heard someone this week say something about LeBron to Golden State.
I was like, there's no way.
There's no way anybody at this network would say that.
The headline will be leaving a last king legacy.
LeBron's not going anywhere, Cowherd.
He's staying with the Lakers.
Listen, you just watched Winning Time on HBO.
Great show.
Awesome.
I loved it.
The Lakers, since Bus, have been selling entertainment.
What is more entertaining than LeBron playing with his son in two years?
I mean, there's really.
there's really nothing more than that.
The Lakers will absolutely not let LeBron go anywhere.
They'll give him like a one plus one or whatever he wants.
LeBron's not going anywhere.
He is a king now in L.A.
You see him?
You see the videos?
He's like driving his car on the highway,
top down.
Everybody's all excited getting videos.
He's such a celebrity out here.
And he brought the Lakers a title.
They're not losing him.
He stays.
I think what gets interesting is what else happens on the roster with the Lakers.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
So what's the headline for his teammate for now,
Russell Westbrook.
You know what I love about LeBron is the subtlety.
Did you see on Instagram?
He said, Anthony Davis will be back.
Posted all these videos of Anthony Davis.
Have you seen any Russell Westbrook love, Colin?
The headline will be
the wheels on the Russ went up, then down.
Westbrook is a goner.
You know how this works, coward.
You hype it up.
We got the new coach.
Darvin Ham is going to coach him up.
He's going to fix Russ.
Maybe he'll come off the bench.
They're saying all the right things.
We're not giving up the two future first round picks.
No way.
we're keeping Russ. That means he's a goner.
Anytime you're saying something, just be very leery.
Like, look at this, highlight reel.
Who cut this up? This is brutal.
I mean, Westbrook could not do anything.
It's just a bad fit.
Okay, sometimes we're wrong on predictions.
This did not quite work out.
Now, where does he go is the question?
I think there are some three team options that makes sense.
Because remember, next summer, there's going to be some good free agents hitting.
Russ comes off the books.
I think they'll have a couple takers.
They'll have to give up a couple of future picks.
But LeBron is not going to keep Russell Westbrook.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
Now, this is interesting.
Donovan Mitchell of the Jazz.
What's the headline going to be?
Well, you and Mitchell are friends, right?
You guys did an event.
I like him a lot, and I think he's got value.
Are you texting one another?
No.
Okay.
Just wanted to be clear.
The headline on Donovan Mitchell will be South Beach Spita.
I like Donovan Mitchell going to Joy's Miami Heat.
The Heat have a couple assets.
Remember last summer they're like, we're not getting rid of Tyler Hero.
Tyler Hero looked a little limited in these playoffs.
Duncan Robinson could be.
barely get on the court. They paid him a lot of money. He's a great shooter. If you can fashion
Rudy Gobert, right, with some shooters around him, Tyler Hero, Duncan Robinson, maybe you
have something. But Donovan Mitchell, it sounds like, and again, not to read too much into
Instagram, but he's talking about like starting over and a rejuvenation. And if you read between
the lines a little bit, it's clear that he wants out. I think the fit in Miami's good. And Colin,
you know sometimes you have some early success and it goes to your head. He got, he had an early
great playoff runs in Utah. I think maybe
they need Riley in that heat culture to rein
him in a little bit. A heck of a talented
player. Tomorrow's headlines
today, a talented
guy I'm hot and cold on. Zach Levine
Bulls. I love Zach Levine.
I'm like the president of the Zach Levine fan.
A lot of people do. You put him in the 1970s. This guy's
averaging 40 a game. He's incredible.
The headline for Zach Levine
Nix get exactly
what they need. That's an interesting fit.
So I thought Tibido was a goner in New York.
He's still coaching there apparently somehow.
He was the one who kind of led the rejuvenation for Zach Levine.
He went up to like a 20-a-game score.
They worked great together.
Tibado's still in New York.
They still don't have an alpha, right?
RJ Barrett's more of a two.
I think if you can maybe get Jalen Brunson from the Mavs and you add Zach Levine,
you finally got some star power.
You've got something cooking.
They need points.
They just need buckets.
I mean, they were a brutal watch last year.
And remember, Colin, they went playoffs two years ago, right?
I think they were the four or fifth seed and they lost to the Hawks.
You can't go playoff.
and then you regress.
I mean, everybody's going to lose their jobs.
They'll have to start over.
They've got to make a splash.
That's what we hear this every year in New York.
They've got to do something in free agency.
I like Zach Levine. Go after him.
All right.
Sons have to be looking at the Warriors thinking we're going to shake things up.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
What's the headline for the Sun's Young Center, DeAndre Ait, and he's getting
very expensive.
One of the crazier storylines is how much video games he plays.
I don't know if you read that story.
This guy's playing like 11 hours of video games.
He's on all night, all hours, and the sun's, you know, mystery here, have never paid the luxury tax ever.
The headline will be sunsets on Aiton and Phoenix as he heads to Detroit.
Oh, with Cade Cunningham.
Yes, Cade Cunningham and D'Andre Aton makes sense.
All signs are Aitin's done.
I mean, you saw the game seven.
He had issues with Monty Williams.
I didn't want to go in the game.
I saw that, yeah.
And listen, Aiton's a good player.
I would just be very leery of giving him a lot of money.
I know he's a talented guy.
He average like 15 and 8 in that.
MavS series and you want to be a max player?
Well, I mean, you know, again, it's a salary cap league.
I like him.
I'd love to have them on my team.
But, you know, I'm paying Booker.
I'm paying Paul.
Sometimes it just comes down to it.
I just don't, my owner, that owner is not Joe Lacom.
He's not going to pay the tax.
Notoriously cheap.
And you bring on Jeremy Grant.
If they can get Jeremy Grant, another wing in the bridges.
Yeah, I like Jeremy Grant.
And I think they have the sixth pick.
I think that's something of a heist for D'Andre.
And who, listen, I know he's a good player.
Colin, tell me the last.
center who's won consistently in the playoffs.
I mean, I'll hang up and wait on that one.
All right. Okay.
Tomorrow's headlines today.
James Hardin, who I'm just...
That's your guy.
You love James Hardin.
It was. We broke up.
Yeah, it's not so great.
On a break, great.
What's the headline?
The headline will be.
James and the giant reach.
Philly gets sweet deal.
Okay, your guy in the front office here in Philadelphia, Darryl Morey, is sitting pretty
right now.
James Hardin can say, hey,
We had a wink, wink, wink, and nod agreement when you got me here.
You'd give me big money.
Daryl can look at him and say, bro, where were you?
You didn't show up in the playoffs.
You're not the same guy.
You were in Houston.
I personally have liked James Harden, but the playoff flameouts are a bit much.
At this point, he's got to take what he gets.
I think so, too.
I think you have to be realistic about what you are to help, because I still contend,
I like their roster.
I mean, when you're negotiating, you've got to be in a position of power.
He doesn't have that now.
He can't go to the table and say,
anything other than, well, I need a full season with Joel Embed before you can
accurately. Stop, okay? You've never worked with the center like this. It just doesn't
work. It's Embed's team. You don't know what to do. You really didn't show up against the heat.
Kind of an embarrassing postseason again. I like Hardin, but I just don't see him
trying to ask for 40 million a year. I think he's 25, 30 mil, maybe. I know that's the audience
is going to laugh 25 mil, but these guys are making astronomical. I mean, Andrew Wiggins is,
what, $31 million a year? Well, let's segue to that.
It is interesting.
Do you consider the Warriors four titles eight years?
They're a shot away from five titles.
They're falling apart physically away against the Raptors, six titles.
They're a much better team.
I think they are.
What do you make the Warriors eight-year run?
Yeah, I said this goes up right up against the Spurs, you know, five in 15 years.
And I think this is more impressive than the Bulls, where Jordan had six and eight.
This is a tougher era, the super team era.
and for Steph Curry to win one without Durant
and then win one with Durant
and then now win another one without him
Colin this guy is a transcendent player
I made the case on my podcast today
I think he's a top 10 player all time
I think he's in that discussion
you look at like a Akeem Olajewan
a Larry Bird and I know Larry Bird's a legend
but what Steph Curry has done
this guy is just once in a generation talent
and I think this Andrew Wiggins
pickup was incredible
yeah you know it's funny about that
because when you say Steph is
top 10. So the question becomes, what
is the standards? Yeah.
So it can't just be All-Star
Games. No. All-Star Games is irrelevant.
Yeah, and it just can't be, well, he scored a bunch
of points. Carl Malone scored a ton of points.
To me, there are things
like, are you the, did you change the game?
Are you the essence? That people
draft people to find the next
you. Yeah. And that's
where I think Steph qualifies.
I think what's fascinating because
I think a lot of people in
California are warrior fans, just the way they play.
is that what's going to be interesting that if you're, unless you're a diehard NBA fan,
they have this kid named Jonathan Cumminga, who's 6-7-220.
He is the most athletic guy in the roster.
He hasn't played yet.
He's 21 or 19 or 20 or something.
Moses Moody, I think from Arkansas, 6-5 kid who has a chance to be a star.
So they have a guard that could be a star, a wing guy that could be a star,
and James Wiseman, the number two pick.
Oh, by the way, Jordan Poole, decent player.
Jordan Poole's like, he was dominant this season.
So you could have another wave.
What happens if Curry gets another title, Colin?
Five championships for this guy?
In nine years.
All right, Jason McIntyre.
We'll see Hour 3.
It's the third.
