we can make fun of Jerry Jones and all the things he says and his incessant desire to get to a soup bowl but if I do grow a little tired of people saying well Jerry Jones needs to give away some of the

personnel decisions don't get me wrong I love watching the Cowboys lose in the playoffs as much or more than anybody right now living in Green Bay, just thinking back to how enjoyable it was to watch the Green Bay Packers

with a defense that wasn't particularly good last year, go in and what, they put up 48 on the Cowboys and the two pick sixes in the first half. That was just enjoyable. I'm not a Cowboys fan. I'm not a Cowboys favorite. Whatever reason, that was just enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong. I love watching the Cowboys lose. Okay. America don't. Like, man, you want to isolate yourself. tell people that wasn't an enjoyable experience. It was. It was. But I would also tell you that there's no one who

works in the NFL, covers the NFL, knows anything about the NFL, is like, eh, they don't have very good players. Everyone believes they have really good players. Really good players. And to maintain their level of success over the last

three, four years, without top five draft picks, continues to be impressive. The problem is that when you draft your own, you've got to pay your own. And here they are once again in that cycle where they paid CD Lamb. And they're going to have to, you know, you have Michael Parsons and elite defense player. You're going to have to pay him eventually. And then Dax's in the last year of his contract.

Here is Dack answering questions from reporters about his contract situation. As I said, well, back in camp, it's two parts of this. Both sides have to come to the agreement. You don't need a deal. before the season? I don't need a, no, no. Would you like it done before the season? I think it says a lot if it is or if it isn't.

But however, it doesn't really matter to me, to be honest with you. What does it say if it isn't? Just how people feel. That's the business and the nature of this game that we play. Yeah, I mean, I stopped honestly listening the things that he says to the media a long time ago. So it doesn't really hold weight with me. Yeah, I mean, he is saying, talk. is cheap. He is saying Jerry talks a lot

and it doesn't, which we all and he's able to get away with some of that. But doesn't it feel like Dax's quarterback because he knows that's where he can get his most consistent pay. And for Jerry, they're like the Cowboys are in that situation where it's not that they love their relationship or love

their quarterback, but do we really want to go out and find another quarterback? I guarantee you there are what do we think, Ryan? 40% of guys, 50% of guys. And I would say women, many of you are in the same place as well, where you're in a relationship, you're like, do you love him? Yeah, I mean, sure. And we've been together a long time.

Do you want to spend every waking day with him? Like, everyone? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, sure. Whatever. So why don't you just dump him and find some else? Like, oh, my God, do you know?

then I got to do pictures and I got to do a dating app or I got to go to me new people. And yeah, maybe eventually you find some, you know, some incredible nine or eight who doesn't know that she's a, she can be a 10 or whatever. And you have a great relationship. But getting to that place and going through first dates and, you know, the holidays are coming up. You're like, what do you mean the holidays are in December? It's August. Like, yeah, but you can't bring somebody to. to a holiday party or to your family unless you've been dating for a while.

And right now, like, if I start dating somebody new, like, we got to the holidays, you're alone again. It's miserable. It's sort of a sliding scale, right? When you ask about, like, 40%, 50%, is the percentage is much lower when you're younger. And then as you grow older and the marriages slash relationships are longer and have been decades now, you start getting a much higher percentage of, they're just together for convenience. Yeah.

Because at some point when you're married for 40 years, you're like, I'm not starting over. What's the point? Yeah, that's pretty much it. Because you're just going like, yeah. Yeah, she's a level of annoying that I can tolerate. And women are probably the same thing. Like, oh, God, he's a level of annoying that I can tolerate. Which is Dak.

Like, look, we're going to win. 12 games a year. No off-the-field issues. Good dude. Everybody likes him. Great backstory. The whole story with him is amazing. Is he an all-time great quarterback? Like, no. Are you doing with Super Bowl? Probably not. But we'll be good every year. Well, why don't you just trying to find a great one? Like, well, okay, look at the Miami Dolphins. They search for 30 years to find their replacement for Damarino. And they have Tua, and we all know Tua is not good enough. And the Buffalo Bill searched 30 years for a placement from Jim Kelly.

Josh Allen's really, really good. Was he worth the 30-year wait? Probably not. So I just, it is that it's a relationship of convenience. And it works both ways. Like, let's be honest, you're the Dallas Cowboys. Like, man, what if we had a legit dude? Like, what if we had one of the elite throwers?

We had so many guys. I mean, C.D. Lam's so good. We are so, we have so many weapons offensively. Yeah, but if we don't have him and we, yeah, sure we save money. Because my proposal would be go to the draft, you know, go get a guy through the draft. And you don't have to be a first round pick. I mean, Brock Purdy, obviously, those are a few and far between Mr. Relevant. But there's got to be somebody that, you know, if the difference is paying a guy a million a year or paying a guy $60 million a year, like, you mean to tell me for $59 million, we can't go out and find a couple guys and make that guy look better as a quarterback?

Of course we can't. So why don't we do it? Well, because trying to find the next quarterback is really, really hard. Really hard. And those years almost never work out. So here was Dak answering questions about his quarterback situation. It's his contract situation. As I said, well, back in camp, it's two parts of this.

Both sides have to come to the agreement. You don't need a deal done before the season? I don't need a, no, no. Would you like it done before the season? I think it says a lot. is or if it isn't. But however, it doesn't really matter to me, to be honest with you. What is this if it isn't?

Just how people feel. It says a lot. Says how they feel. Is that what we're doing that? We're doing that again? That's the Lamar Jackson. You don't love Lamar unless you pay him $50 million a year. Like, yeah.

Dak, we've played you a lot of money for a long time. We still love you. We just don't $60 million a year love you. Especially when you have the largest cap hit in the history of the sport right now. I mean, it's sort of to your point about how it goes both ways. I mean, Aaron Rogers will see how things

eventually turn out for the Jets, but I mean, you want to talk about wanting to go to where the grass is greener. I mean, most people would say he clearly had a much better situation in Green Bay, and now we may end up

going to regret it with the Jets. And with Dak, yes, there are going to be the rare circumstances like a Tom Brady to the bucks to where teams may be fully ready to go and they're just a quarterback away but

I mean the Cowboys have done a good job of surrounding him with enough talent to win a lot in the regular season and if one of these teams that hasn't been good and you know is finally hitting the open market like I don't know teams that could be in the

quarterback situation next year like the Carolina Panthers if everything go south, like, do you want to play in Carolina? No. But here's the other thing, though, with Dak, okay? And again, I think Dak is good. But who in that division scares? He's a

quarterback. Jalen Hertz had one great year. He's good. He's okay. He's not the best quarterback on earth. Nobody thinks Danny Dimes is going to be the quarterback next year. And you got a rookie in D.C. who people think is going to be

good, but we don't know if Jane Dian is going to be good. So you are the most veteran quarterback in that division. You've got a coach that's wonderful support. You've been to the playoffs the past two years. Like, what more do we need? Either you can or you cannot do it. So I don't, if I'm DAC, I STFU, I don't say anything. Because the only thing that matters is how he does in the playoffs this year.

And are the Cowboys going to, you know, grin and bear it if he doesn't perform well in the playoffs yet again? and they'll go like, do we want to move on? Do we want to stay with the same guy? He's none other than John Middokoff, reading out is the podcast.

And John, let's get into last night, okay? Let's just start prospect-wise as a guy who evaluates. What are your thoughts on Shador Sanders as an NFL quarterback? Well, he's clearly, I mean, a pretty special talent, right? Movement, arm strength, deep ball accuracy, playmaking. we've seen the last handful of years, guys with those physical skills go really, really high. Now, you know, last night was, at one point in time, you're like, oh, this could go really bad for these guys. They showed a little adversity.

End of the day, it's North Dakota State who, to me, they're closer to like a Mountain West program. I guess that's a real win. But he's going to be evaluated to, like, truly go one because, let's say, Carson Beck or, you know, Quinn Uers, who I'm not that big a fan of, but they're playing real teams in the SEC. He's playing the Big 12, which could be pretty good, right? We'll see.

He's got some talented teams on paper, and he's got an opportunity, I think, I mean, to solidify himself for the top two or three player in the draft because there's no disputing skills. Yeah, so I guess there's a bunch of layers to it. does Dion being his dad make you want to stay away? No, because, I mean, Dion was that way as a player, and he was an all-time great.

Now, the difference is you can be this huge crazy personality, especially like Dion was in college, and play corner or play wide receiver. It is a little different quarterback. So that is the, and I've said this for a while on the podcast, I think the hard thing for scouts is going to be, is to truly get the information when you go into that program, right? Because, like, how are you going to dig on what happened on social media, right? Who's going to, if I don't know them.

And again, why they bad mouth them? I don't think there's nothing bad, but you just nitpick these top guys. So part of getting, I would say, Shador, is obviously getting the package of his dad, which is positive because of the lineage, the name, how serious they take football. but there's also like this other element to it, which, I don't know, I was thinking about it last night, like there's no question like, can the kid handle money? Well, he's grown up rich, you know? I mean, he's like he's grown up around it.

So that's that one of faith. And it's more, and does he get along with his teammates? I would say that's the biggest question mark. Beside, like, his brother and Travis, what's he like to the random offensive linemen? And that's really what they got to dig on, which could be the difference of him and Carson Beck, right? why one team chooses one guy over another. Can't, like, Dion tried to say he was because he was trying to get his buddy a big play. Why else would you throw the ball with a minute and a half to go,

another team having one time out unless you're trying to pad your stats? Yeah, you know, in a game like that, it's hard. I think the time management in college football, we've nitpicked the NFL, which can't be bad. It's really bad in college football. That's obviously insane. You could argue the North Dakota State coach not calling timeouts before the two-minute warning, which is a new rule. They have a two-minute warning recently in college football. These rules ever-changing, but yeah, the Dion thing, they got pretty lucky. But at the end of the day, once they punt it all the way down there and they didn't have any timeout, it was going to be really hard. North Dakota State, I was very

pretty impressed, right, to hang with those athletes, especially on the outside early on. It's like, how are they ever going to get a stop? That's an impressive program. I'm going to say, I don't know that was a pretty good win for Colorado. You know, I really did because it could have easily got the other way. They showed a little guts, but now it gets real. I mean, on the road at night in Nebraska. I think the big question mark, Doug, because Chidor, these quarterbacks, like I'm not

worried about as long as he stays healthy, he's going to go high. is I think Travis Hunter is one of the more fascinating prospects, really, of my adult life. You know, he's a corner wide receiver. He plays every snap. The NFL would love him to play corner because it's much harder to find top ten corners than it is top wide receivers. But how is he going to do, you know, in the Big 12, Arizona's got a guy that many of you as a top 10 player. Oklahoma State has a really good kind of small, shifty wide receiver. I'm sure there are other receivers that are going to emerge in the Big 12.

you're going to want him on that guy, but he's such a dynamic wide receiver. Can he play every snap against Oklahoma State, against Utah, against Arizona, against Kansas State? It's going to be fascinating to watch. I know he's in great shape, but he's like the college Otani right now. Yeah, well, last year he wore down, so we'll sit, we'll see. And then, you know, we'll see if he doesn't wear down, right? I mean, and if you remember, I'm trying to think which, which team it was, it just targeted. him at the end of the game.

It was Stanford. Remember Stanford? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's threw at him every time, even though he's their best player just to wear him out. And it worked. And think about the Pac-12 good wide receivers.

Big 12 good wide receivers. Even if the guy's not a top ten pick, he'd be just like a fourth rounder. I mean, that's a long day at the office. No question about it. John Middokoff, joining us three and out is the podcast. Niners get a yuk. My point was, I don't think that changes them all that much. I think Trent Williams is a much bigger and more important get for them.

Where are you on Iyuk and his level of importance in comparison to Trump Williams? Yeah, I mean, what an exhausting saga. As Schaefter said, the same contract has been on the table for three weeks. Lynch and Kyle ready to jump off a bridge. Every press conference at the 53-man cut down and I watched a decent amount of them. You know, GMs are happy. The 49ers look like they just got hit by a bus. and I think they were ready to start finding them.

You know, and that's Brandon and I, you, they already tried to trade him. He said no. Obviously, Trent, I would imagine he's asking for, you know, $60, $70 million right now. And the 49ers have gone back and forth. He hasn't kind of bent over a table. But he's also 35, 36 years old.

You know, it's a tough spot, but they can't operate without them and they won't operate without him. So I would imagine wouldn't shock me before the games kick off on Saturday. You know, something gets done in the next, I don't know, 18 hours. Because the other thing is older player, big guy, you want to get him in cardio shape. That first game against the Jets, a lot of question marks with the Jets. One thing we don't question, even with Reddick, MIA, they do have a lot of bodies up front that can run fast.

So you just, to not practice, I don't know what he's been doing. I'm sure he's been working out, but there's a big. difference between running some gassers with a trainer and, you know, reping against Nick Bosa and Leonard Floyd every day in practice. No question about it. None at all. Okay, give me some, give me some buzz you're hearing from around the league. There have been some comments that the Jets locker room is still a mess. What are you hearing about the state of the Jets heading to the season?

Yeah, I think there's a lot of people wondering what this is going to look like I texted someone in the middle of camp that was around them a lot and I said how does Rogers look and he's like to be honest it's impossible to tell these training camps are a joke even though Rogers like way more physical well relative to the modern day football but it's he's not getting tested so I think the question mark with him is specifically going to be how he moves everyone's like he still spins it well Dan Marino 65 still spins it like Aaron Rod is going to be able to spin it as long as he has a right on. To me, the question, Mark's going to be movement.

And let's face it, like, is a son Reddick just going to show up next week? Or is he not? Because if he doesn't, like, that's kind of a big deal. They lost the pass rusher to the Eagles. They traded for him to replace him. And if he just truly just continues to hold out, that is a big loss, even though they, quote, unquote, have never had them. Like, they were banking on this guy to help out and give him, I don't know,

No, nine to 11 sacks. So that's, if he doesn't play against the 49ers, that's a problem. But it all hinges on Rogers. And does he look like a 40-year-old guy coming up in Achilles? Or does he look like, you know, he still looks pretty good? You know, I don't know. What I've seen on NFL Network, which is the only clips you've seen of him playing because he doesn't play into preseason games, it looks like he's kind of half-ass in it.

But I don't know if that's just he's kind of taking it easy, or that's his new speech. You know, and we have recent memory. And all these guys are different. You and I have talked about this. Sure. All those guys fell off a cliff. You know, Roger was not going to be his arm, but his movement was such a huge part of his greatness that he just wouldn't be the same player.

And the 49ers, like, he goes outside, Fred Warner's chasing him. He used to be able to at least extend it for a second or two. Now it's going to be fascinating to watch because if that's gone, I couldn't like the Jets as much as I mean they have better betting odds than the bills I get the bills awesome players but I couldn't pick the Chits before week one over the bills could you? No in no way I could have picked the Jets over the bills in week one not not at all. I want to ask you about DAC and you know I mean I feel like they're in that relationship of convenience right it's like Look, Dak's good. He's a good quarterback.

He's a good guy. He'll win double-digit games. Is he going to win any Super Bowl? No. How do I know? I have enough data now to tell me. Like, could you? I guess.

But, you know, Niner game last year, Packer game. I mean, nine or game two years ago, Packer game last year is like it is what it is. But the Cowboys are sitting there going like, yeah, you know, like we don't have Dak. Then we got to go start this process over with. We got to, you know, it's like a dating thing. You know, we have the holidays coming up.

And we got to have a relationship before the holidays. holidays. It feels like more of a relationship of convenience than it is, hey, we're still super into each other. Well, I think the worst place to be stuck in is where the dolphins are. They have a guy who's a credible starting quarterback but can't win big games, and it feels like he's got no chance in the playoffs. Dat, to me, is like on that golf level, and I know golf's won playoff games, his teams,

and he's become a really good player. We could, you know, some people might pick golf over Dak, but I think that. but I think Dak can win playoff games, but what I know he can do is go on the road and beat the Eagles, right? Go on the road or at home in December and win a big game. So to me, there's value in that, and that's why I think the Cowboys are in such a predicament. Like at the end of the day,

the Cowboys would have gladly given them what they gave to us, right? They'd give them that contract in the heartbeat. Dak wants probably 15, 20% more than Trevor Lawrence just got. And that's where it gets difficult, and this is what is, you know, this is a guy over 30, this is his fourth contract, or I guess this would be his third contract, because he's played out on, you know, nine, ten years of contracts. So basically you're just taking it in from year 11 to 15 at just huge premiums, and that's where you get nervous. But what else are they going to do, Doug? I mean, they tried to, and I don't blame Jerry, he tried to strike a little oil with Trey Lance.

I mean, the guy, he's one of the worst quarterbacks on a roster currently. So they're kind of stuck. There were people. There were people last year when they traded from like, oh, got our next starting quarterback. Like, no, do you think San Francisco would give up on him? They thought he was any good? Well, think about this, Doug. And this is not the beat up Tray Lance.

It was a weird 2020 year. He clearly shouldn't have been drafted anywhere in the first. He should have been like a fifth round pick. but Mike McCarthy, who I'm actually going to start pivoting on Mike McCarthy because everyone's anti-mic McCarthy, proven to be pretty good, right? He wins regular season games. He can coach the quarterback, and he can call offense, but he's going to quarterback. Conchion has go to the quarterback, and this guy can't play.

So I think that clearly is scrapped. I mean, the only reason the Cowboys kept him is because they traded for a salary that's pretty large. They have to pay him no matter what. But I think they're just kind of stuck with deck. and at the end of the day, you know, even if Dak, you don't sign an extension during the season, he makes it the tree agency. If Jerry wants to keep him, he's going to keep him, because who leaves the Cowboys, if the money's the same, and it's very hard for these other teams to offer as much money

because Dallas, no state income tax, even if the Vegas gets involved, you're telling me you're going to go to the Raiders over the Cowboys? I mean, come on, that, that's not that dumb. No, he's not, he's definitely not that dumb. Who is the team that we're not talking about? You and I talk about this every week. Okay, we're getting closer and closer. Who's the one who's this year's Houston Texans?

The surprise? You know, I've gone back and forth on these two teams. I think the AFC North is going to be worse. But they got three teams in. And I think, you know, the Ravens got a lot of question marks. Bangles helped and just their contract situations. The Browns, I mean, their quarterback just might not be any good. I do think one of these two teams, a lot of people push back.

Chargers don't have enough talent. Okay, but their coach always wins. And the Broncos. I don't know which two it is, or which one it is out of those two, but I think one of those two teams are going to make the playoffs. I would lean the Broncos. He's had a year now to kind of build up this roster, maybe the Chargers are more equipped next year.

But I think we're going to see two teams out of the AFC West. I mean, think about it. If you remove Andy Reid, I mean, Sean Payton and it, if you just rank coaches in the AFC, Sean Payton and Jim Harbon, here at the top of the list. So we say it all the time. Coach quarterback. We got Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert.

I think Bo Nix is a pretty good bet for a rookie of the year. So if you think he's going to have a good season relative to a rookie, I think the Broncos, they won a game last year. We talked about the Broncos, rightfully so, like they were like a four or five-win team because that's 70-point game sticks out in their mind. but they actually weren't as bad as you think. And now he likes the quarterback, and he likes the team. I'm tempted to take the Broncos.

You can get him 6-1 on Dr. King's Dook just to make the playoffs. I'm just talking 70s. He's the one and only John Milikov. Johnny, can't wait for the next pod. Enjoy the weekend of college football. Like this is pretty much heaven, right? Like Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, all games. and then we get more next week.

Oh, so good. Hey, listen, say what you want about prime time, and he's done some crazy things, and the treatment of the guy on the way out was pretty embarrassing. But if I would have told you two years ago, North Dakota State and Colorado would have been the prime time night game to kind of kick off week one, and most people had that on their television,

no one. You know, that game would have been put on True TV at 930 kickoff. So that was fun last. night. I thoroughly enjoyed that. I did too. And I'll watch when they play Nebraska, and I'll keep watching. Yeah. I mean, I don't think for entertainment, it's given us something great. The question becomes, and I don't feel like he's building a program there. I feel like he's building a vessel. Do you think the Big 12 is going to be tough on them? Because the Pact 12 was.

Well, remember, the Pact 12, that was like the best, the Pact. It was a great year. and I don't think the Big 12 is as talented. I don't think there's layups in the league. But look, they lost to Stanford who was kind of a layup in the league. I think they're going to be better. I think where they're going to suffer is these next two on the road in Nebraska, on the road to Colorado State. I think they're a better team with a harder schedule in the preseason.

And that Nebraska game, obviously, remember last year the quarterback looked like me or you back there. This young guy, Riola, is just solid. At night, that place is going to be called bananas. Correct. Correct. John Middokoff, three nights' podcast. Johnny, thanks so much for joining us.

Picking up where you left off. The NFL. Doug, you touched on it there with John Middlough. One of his potential surprise breakout teams, Denver Broncos. And, well, you know, they still may be looking for that franchise quarterback to replace Peyton Manning. Been retired almost a decade now. As you guys had discussed, they obviously drafted Bo Nix in the first round. They've named him a starter for week one against the Seahawks.

So clearly, Bo Nix has impressed Sean Payton and the coaching staff. But what does their owner and CEO Greg Penner think of Nix? Well, here's what he had to say. I've been really impressed with his poise and maturity. There's something about starting that many games in college that obviously develops that, and I think he's got some incredible traits. It was great to see how he played in the first two preseason games. I had a chance to call him after Sean announced that he'd be the starting quarterback,

had a great conversation with him then. All rookies are going to go through some ups and downs in their first season, and I told him we're going to support you. I'm excited to see what he can do on the field. and the rest of this roster. We know Colin's very high on Bo Nix. He's made that very clear, going back to even last season at Oregon. Where do you stand on Bo Nix and his NFL career prospects?

I got to tell you, I'm not nearly as high. If that doesn't say anything right there. Well, listen, you and I have known, I've known Colin longer than you, but you've worked with him this closely for the last four or five years. Yeah. You know, he and Sean became really good friends. And, you know, when Sean says, I believe in this kid and you believe in Sean, like, what are you supposed to say? Sure, yeah.

You know, my friend who's won a Super Bowl is an idiot? Well, it certainly became a further confirmation of what Colin had already previously. thought. Because even early on with the success that Bo Nix was having at Oregon, he was like, oh, I really like Bo Nix. I think he could do well in the NFL.

And then to your point, then when he gets the Sean Payton stamp of approval and becomes a Bronco, now it's like, oh my gosh, it could only be this. I've never felt more validated about my previous thoughts about Bo Nix, for sure.

My issue with Bo Nix is he is the same guy who had what I mean who had you know issues winning on the road when he was at Oregon he was the same guy who struggled when he was at Auburn you know he didn't you don't all of a sudden become that guy you don't go from 16 and 6 12 and 7 11 and 3

29 and 7 with Oregon and then 45 and 3 like oh my gosh you know so you had better talent and you're older and you're well coached sure you know it's like do I think it'll be good

sure do I think he's going to be great I do not but I also think that that Sean's frustration with Russell and this is from people I know in Denver was like

Russell 1 is incapable of getting rid of the ball quick and he wants to do his own thing and Sean's just like all I'm trying to do is win a Super Bowl and help you and you don't want to be help. So my guess would be that Bo is really coachable, and that helps him. So I think Bo will be further along this year than most rookies or most people would believe.

I do think there's a little lower ceiling than Colin is leading to believe, but a lot of that is Colin kind of echoing the praise of Sean Pate. All right, we'll wrap up with this. Brandon Ayuk's been paid. C.D. Lamb's been paid. Now the spotlight turns fully focused onto Bengals. wide receiver Jamar Chase. He's been a hold-in throughout all of training camp,

and according to NFL insider Ian Rappaport, Chase is seeking a deal that either ties or exceeds the contract signed by Justin Jefferson, currently the highest paid receiver in the league, by one cent, according to Ian Rappaport. So, Jamar Chase, looking for that one cent more so he can claim the title of highest paid receiver in the league. He'll probably get it, but it's like,

what are we doing? At some point, do you just want to look at your client and go, what are you doing? What are you actually doing? You look like the biggest ass clown on earth. And the agent is probably part of it, because the agent wants to go around going like, hey, you know, I got the guy the biggest contract.

Who cares? God, what is the matter with people? It's always crazy to me on how NFL football, we're told, and rightfully so, that football is the greatest team game ever. when you get that moment to get your contract, can I just make it about me so I'm the highest paid guy even for a day? Dude, get over yourself.

You're going to be a Bengal. You're going to play for the Bengals. You know, if it works out for them, fine. But just know, if that is your goal, one, it's super selfish, but two, a really smart negotiator will allow you to do that. Okay, you get that. We're going to get something else for return. And something else for return is probably something you really actually want.

When asked who's got the most unstable franchise, the answer is, the Jets. Again, this from one NFL agent. There is complete disarray over there. Look at how they've handled Aaron Rogers. Has one player had more power than him? He skipped minicamp.

They've been unable to convert him into a team player. The vibe inside the building is. terrible. Now, when I see those comments come from, you know, when I see those comments come from another GM or another player, well, then I go, well, they're clearly just trying to make everybody feel like the chats are a mess. But when it comes from an agent, you're like, well, it's a little different. Feels a little different. Feel a little different than anybody else? And, and, you know, to be fair, I don't know. I don't evaluate the jets in the inside

out every day, but one could surmise that they got a lot of stuff going on. They trade for a sonnuretic. He apparently had told him he didn't want a new contract. Now he does. They haven't had him a day of camp. You know, Aaron Rogers

not super happy at times. Stop me before with young wide receivers. You know, but some of these kinks, I'm sure, could have been worked out had he been at camp earlier. The comments coming out of Robert Sala, which we know where he is, but it's not excused.

Just, I mean, look, the Jets have tried to figure this out. And I actually, ownership-wise, like, I don't know if Woody Johnson's a good owner. I don't know about all, but this is at least a franchise. They've had tried to fix the problem. The same problem, we've

talked a lot, a lot about everybody else having when they lose a star quarterback, right? Trying to find that next guy. They've tried a million times over. They did have Brett Farv. Sean Pennington, they got a ton out of him when they had him.

They did have Brett Farv. They drafted Mark Sanchez. They drafted Jimenez-Smith. They've tried. They've drafted Sam and Arnold. They've tried. They just haven't been able to fix this thing. By the way, the reward is they open up at San Francisco.

Then they go to the Titans. And I don't think the Titans are particularly good, but the Titans are probably like, yeah, that's a win on our schedule too. So could they get to that stretch Or you have four games Consequently your home team? Sure. And it could be a complete turnaround year

But you hear an agent say it You see some of the weird stuff with the Hassan Reddick deal And you start to ask yourself like Are they really that much better? Have they really fixed the offensive line? And look This was brought to my attention

And I didn't really think of it that way because I think most people who know me know that I've been Aaron Rogers supported. I've thought Aaron Rogers is better than other people have regarded Aaron Rogers. Now people are coming around to the, hey, maybe Aaron Rogers is maybe the greatest player to ever play this thing. But he did not have a great final season in Green Bay.

This is not 2020 or 2021 in 2023. he didn't have a great year. He just didn't. So was that age? Was he just fed up with being there? Was it that they had young wide receivers? All of this is true and worthy of discussion. But just the idea of Aaron Rogers is going to roll out there, 40 touchdowns, three interceptions,

win another MVP. Like, you don't know. I don't know. Not totally willing to go there. at all but when you have people saying not a team player he's got too much power

they can't make him go to camp the vibe inside the room is terrible you start to go yeah I don't know all right coming up next let's dive back into college football

and it's fascinating because before Colin and I have known each other I guess was fall of 2003 Wow. And Colin came to ESPN back then from Portland, where he hosted his own show. But let's not act like Portland was a well-spring for college football discussion.

The one thing the West Coast does give you is a longer runway to, if you like watching college football, you can watch all the games in your day, whereas East Coast it's a little harder for those late-night pack 12 games, Sunday night football games as well. But we've both been huge college football fans. Gone to more games. I've gone to more games than I think anybody in national sports radio. And Colorado and Coach Prime held on to get a win last night. It's year two at CU.
