You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All right, here we go. Live in L.A. It's hour two. We await word on Dan Hurley in the Laker-U-Con situation. It's the herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, thanks for making us part of your day. Had good conversations this week with people close to Dan Hurley and people close to the Lakers. Nobody is quite sure.

Hurley was asking people Friday, Saturday night, what should I do? A wife is from the Northeast families, from the Northeast. I lived there for 10 years. When you get roots in the Northeast, summer's and fall in the Northeast. New York City right around the corner. It's hard to leave. That's good living. Jay Mack, roll your eyes, if you will.

It's a bummer this didn't go down in like November. Then he leaves Connecticut in like a winter hat and gloves, comes to L.A.'s. Oh, 68 degrees out. Hard to leave in June. A little different. All right. Here we go where Colin was wrong, where Colin was right. Where Colin was right?

I like Jason Tatum a lot, but I've pushed back that he's a top three or four player. Listen, he took a backseat in the Eastern Conference Finals to Jalen Brown. He's taking a backseat to Porzingas and Drew Holiday in the finals. Again, I can like him, and I like him a lot. He's collaborative. He's smart. He plays on both ends. He fills the box score.

But he is shooting 31% in two games, and I do like my number one, and he's going to get a max deal. I want him to be my closer. I don't want Porzinger or Drew Holliday or Jalen Brown being my closer. Again, I like Jason Tatum. I'd sign Jason Tatum. This finals is kind of what I've been talking about for the last month. Where Colin was wrong.

Kyrie Irving, I thought he arrived. He hasn't. I do think Boston's crowds a little bit in his head. He's done a little bit more Kyrie ISO ball. The Mabs are minus 22 when he's on the floor. I just don't like what I see from the offense for Dallas. It doesn't feel as symmetrical or as balanced. It's a little ISO stuff.

I thought they had a real chance in this series. They, without Kyrie's scoring, look completely overwhelmed. Where Colin was right? We said, though, when they got Drew Holiday and Christop's Porzingis, we said, we have the date. Oh, my, how did they get these guys? Porzingis went to Washington and, and really turned into an all-star level player. He's the first unicorn, not Chet Holmgren or Wembe,

and you're seeing his length on defense, his offensive viability and dexterity on offense. Brad Stevens knew the truth. I need another go-to score on this roster, and they got it. Where Colin was wrong. I thought the Yankees would clean up on the Dodgers. They came into this series on fire, and the Dodgers didn't.

The back end of their order was struggling. They had been six and four in their last 10, and Teosker Hernandez had quite a weekend. Down a two-two from Canely. Hernandez lifts a fly ball to left center field. Back goes Verdugo, running out of room. Goodbye. Grand slam. Teosker Hernandez.

Dodgers looked more polished. Dodgers looked more refined, more polished. Yankees struggled at times defensively. Where Colin was right? I keep saying women's basketball, guys, come on. Why did you make Caitlin Clark's WNBA schedule so rigorous in the first month? And put her on the Olympic team. Bryce Harper, Connor McGregor, when you get these stars.

You know, Tiger Woods comes to the tour. Get him on television. I don't think she's one of the 12-15 best players, but I would argue Jalen Brown's not on the men's Olympics team. I think he's one of the top 15 players. She is television gold. The Olympics have always been at the back end of a roster political. I think it's a miss.

Where Colin was right? I liked J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan, but I thought he was a prospect that needed to sit. And according to stories from Jeremy Kevin Seifert, my bad at the SBN. He is a clear backup to Sam Darnold at this point. For the record, the last two coaches

that signed Darnold, Kyle Shanahan, and Kevin O'Connell. Darnold is still viewed in the league as a really talented guy that can start, and Kevin O'Connell sees McCarthy for what he is. A little small and rough around the edges. We were

right. Where Colin was raw. A report that Zach Wilson's in the mix to start for the Broncos, What? I liked him as a backup. I like that he moved west. He's beating out Bo Knicks. I'll just take a wrong on that and move on. Where Colin was right? We said the NFL's always treated their sport more than any league like a TV show. They announced the Bears Texans will kick off the Hall of Fame gang August 1st. This is a smart move. Caleb Williams front and center. The Bears may be front. forgotten by some, but they remain an incredible television product.

The minute the bears are good and Chicago is in and watching, it's like the Kansas City Chiefs. Something about football in middle America that works. Where Colin was right? We said the pitch clock would make baseball infinitely more watchable. Have you seen the baseball ratings at Fox up 25%? Have you seen the baseball ratings at the other place? up 20% baseball didn't listen

to their diehards. They have done two things in the last couple of years that have paid off. Pitch clock, speed the game up, and they've created some baseball events. Phillies Mets in London.

It's an event. It felt huge. The camera, the home plate umpire camera, just keeps getting better and better. Baseball felt big. this weekend. And it felt fast. The game, the pitch clock, infinitely

more watchable, you're seeing attendance for the second straight year and ratings on the national broadcast up, up, up. Sometimes you've got to listen to the casuals, not the diehards. And with that, coach of the Philadelphia 76ers watching this

finals like the rest of us, Nick Nurse. Listen, you know all about Boston. have faced them. Porzingus, people don't watch Washington. Porzingis had a great year at Washington. How do you match up with him when you've got Tatum and Derek White? To me, when I'm watching the television, Nick, I think Porzingis is just a problem to face.

He certainly is. First of all, you get the switch on him and he gets somebody smaller. He's just going to do his thing, move his body around, get positioning to just shoot over the top of us. them. And then his rim protection is what's really, you know, I think been amazing and caused the Mavericks problems. But I think that this series is really about who's keeping who in front of each other. The Mavs are having a hard time keeping the ball in front of them. And the Celtics aren't. The Celtics are keeping defensive players in front of the ball. And it's making Dallas's offense a lot tougher than the normal. You know, Nick, the NBA did not like Katie to the Warriors. So the new CBA,

they created some aprons. They don't want three stars together. They want draft and develop. They'll give you a couple, but they'd prefer you draft them like a Tyrese maxi and develop them. They don't want you to go and grabbing a Porzengis, getting to Derek White, or a Drew Holiday, I should say.

I do feel watching them. It's like they pulled a fast one on the league. I mean, Al Horford's your sixth-mast player, and Derek White's your fifth. Is some of this just, Nick? Boston's too good and too deep. Well, I think Brad Stevens wins

Executive of the year, and I tell you what, I don't want to negotiate with him right now. I mean, he got Horford from O'K.C. White from San Antonio, Porzengis from Washington, through Holiday from Portland, all here in a pretty short span of time.

And those guys, they've all been incredible, you know, really, really incredible. Drew Holiday was amazing last night. Yeah. We're Zingas in game one, and we haven't even talked about Brown and Tatum yet, and they're obviously their best two players. You know, it's interesting with Tatum. I mean, you know you were in the G League. You've seen young players.

I always felt Jalen was a great athlete, but he wasn't quite as aesthetically pleasing. He was just such a good, strong athlete, and he keeps getting. I look at Tatum, and he's so fluid. It's such a beautiful game. How do you size the two? They obviously play well together, but I always think Tatum's more naturally fluid, but Jalen plays so hard. He's a little bit of de-weighed to him. What do you make of those two?

I don't know. I think there's very little difference between them as far as who's better, who is. I mean, they're both long, athletic, both can shoot the three. I think Brown obviously's physical. Tatum is awful physical. When he drives in there, he'll bounce people. put his shoulder down and, you know, forearm and all that kind of stuff. I think they're both really good defensively.

Man, they just keep getting better. And I think, you know, for me, Tatum is probably, his passing has probably been the best, you know, are the biggest thing he's improved. You know, he certainly had a lot of chances as a young player just to kind of go, go, go. But he makes great reads now. He finds the guys, obviously, they got, geez, I don't know, eight guys, six, seven, eight guys that are just going to stand out there if you give them a catch and shoot three, and they're going to make you pay.

And they just keep getting better. They're very, very good, very, very similar. You know, obviously, Joe Missoula has buy-in. So a lot in this league, these are highly compensated players. Derek White's making $18 million a year. And yet they play as a unit. I think a lot of that is Tatum, that he's a giver, he's not a taker. You guys have a lot of cap space.

You have two stars, Maxie and M.B. When you spend that, how much do you and Daryl talk about chemistry, collaboration, the right fit? I saw it with the Knicks this year a little bit. Didn't have the most talent? They all bought in. How big of a factor is that? How often do you talk about that with Daryl? Yeah.

We talk about it a lot. Obviously, we've got a lot of cap space and a lot of roster to fill. And you're right. I mean, I think Tyrese was amazing this year. Joelle was playing the best basketball of his career, which is saying something until the injury. So I think we got two great guys to build around, finding the right pieces that are going to be able to space and shoot, defend and rebound, have some IQ, have some late game. You know, moxie and guts and the things that it takes is really the key for us to get to where we want to go. go, which is, you know, we wish we were playing now, that's for sure.

So you coached, you were a two-time coaching champ in the British League. You know international basketball. You were a D-League two-time champ. NBA champ. You haven't coached college. It's a totally different game. The Dan Hurley situation is the D-League a little like college, or is that to you, do you look at colleges like, that's just a different sport than NBA?

Is the transition hard? You have friends that are college coaches. How hard is the transition? What do you learn year one that you didn't know was going to happen? Well, I think the wild thing right now, Colin, is that the NBA may be more stable than certainly than the G League. Players coming and going all the time and maybe more than college now. These guys are all like one-year free agents, it seems like, and moving around constantly.

I think, you know, the same things that you guys talk about. about there it's a much more controlled setting, I think, in college. You know, there's certainly not guys are not, the money is, as it's growing quickly, it's not where it is in our league and all those kind of things. But listen, Dan Hurley can really coach. I watch his teams play like you do, and I'm super impressed. I love watching them play. I love watching them compete.

I think like Jay Wright at Villanova, they, you know, they just, they really have it at that level. And, you know, I think he'd be great wherever he coaches eventually. Listen, Luca's a remarkable player. He looks fatigued. They just keep running people at him. And I remember talking to an NBA player years. He was like 20 years ago. He was a great college player.

And he said, I didn't have to guard anybody in college. You start playing defense for 40 minutes a night. You lose your leg. That jumper goes real fast. You know, what is the dilemma? Do they need another? I mean, when you look at Boston and Dallas, you're like, God, if Kyrie's off, it's all Luca. what do you do when you have and you have one a transcendent star

you want to watch minutes because obviously Dallas is good enough to get to the playoffs is it hard sometimes when you have a star he wants the ball he's a great closer but he's wearing himself out looks like luc and the means kind of falling apart well I think it's it's the balancing act obviously he certainly needs some help you know your complimentary guys got to be really good during the game I think I don't know, last night's game's a good example. Would they go two for 17 from three other than Luca?

Right. You know, that was a chance last night to be in that game and maybe get that one, but they got to, you know, it's got to be better than that. And that way you don't have to rely on him so much throughout, you know, the first 42, 44 minutes, right? You got to have some offensive, defensive help for those superstar guys so that they do have enough in the tank, you know,

in the last four or five minutes of the game to make plays at both ends. Yeah. You know, the Caitlin Clark is, listen, there's no necessarily right answer. I said earlier in life, occasionally, you are presented with a wave. Grab your surfboard. You don't get great opportunities in life. It could be a relationship. You meet your wife.

Grab the surfboard. There's the wave, right? Like, I kind of feel like, ladies, Caitlin Clark, get her on television. It'll quadruple. It can make your other play. more endorsements. But I understand there's this feeling that, well, she's not, she's not one of the best 15 players. Olympics are weird, Nick. They're kind of political. They're kind of sub, I mean, Jalen Brown's not on this Olympic team. He's a top 15 player in the league. For sure. What do you do,

if your name and the team, what do you do with this rising star? You love her game. I love her game. But all of a sudden over the weekend, this thing got tribal and political. Where do you go with it? Yeah, I think, listen, first of all, you know I'm from Iowa, right? So I'm like, I'm major. I flew to watch the game against LSU, and it was one of the best things I did all year to see that game. And it's good and bad. I mean, I think I almost can't believe it because I agree with you that the ratings and all the, just everything probably continues to roll on if she's on the team.

But I'm almost happy for her too. I think the amount of pressure she's been under, you know, going to the national championship game, you know, taking that team from Iowa that probably, you know, never be there, never has been there at all, you know, and she took them twice and right into the WNBA and all this stuff. At least she doesn't have to have another ramp up of incredible scrutiny and pressure on her, but I'm pretty surprised that she's not on the team. Yeah, unlike the NBA where you get drafted and some time off at the WNBA, Yeah, you get drafted to give you a jersey and you got to be somewhere in a week.

So she is an ascending star. Okay, you were 31 and 8 with MBE, 16 and 27 without him. You obviously got money to spend. Have you decided your direction? Do you today know, you and Daryl know where you're going? How much is these foundational moves? Do you know how much is watching other people? When did it all start?

Yeah, I mean, I think it starts about 24 hours hours. after our final buzzer, the planning of it, for sure, Colin. I think that, you know, I think we gotta explore everything. You know, Darryl is really good at his job, really got a lot of trust in him and Elton Brand and our owners, they really wanna get this thing right. And I think exploring every option right now, but then being ready for plan B, C, D, F, G, H,

because I think there's a lot of things that could happen, you know, with free agency, with the draft, with trades. I think it'll be an active summer. Certainly will be for us. It has to be, but I think it will be in general. Nick, Ners, Sixers, great seeing you. Celtics lead to all. They got better players at this point, more dudes, that's for sure. Nick, it's great seeing you again. Thanks a lot, Colin. You bet. Yeah, when I was watching last night, there was a point where Dallas surged at the end. They went on like an 8-0 run, but they just couldn't make stops. Like at some point, you got Kyrie's kind of in his feelings,

You got Luca is a little hobbled. You know, Derek Lively is a kid. This is a huge, I mean, to ask Derek Lively to go to Boston against that Celtic crowd and to seize the moment, that's a big ask. These guys are 19 years old. That's way too big of an ask. Again, Caitlin Clark plays college for several years. NBA, a lot of these best young players, they're just kids. They're 19.

They can't go and have a beer at the hotel bar. They're kids. So it feels like you're asking Luca. to do too much offensively, ask lively to do too much defensively. You're not asking the Celtics to do anything. In fact, you're giving them a breather because you're bringing Porzingis back. So you're not asking the Celtics to do anything that they normally don't do. You need several Mavericks to play above where they normally play,

or at least meet this Celtics level. And it's just, I don't think it's realistic to this point. I think Dallas will win a game in this series. As we predicted Friday on the show, we said, take Dallas in the first quarter. They'll play really, really well in the first quarter, but over the course of games, the truth comes out. The matchups come out. Reality sets in with your roster. One more herd?

So Jay Mack and I are talking about this during the break. My guess is the longer Dan Hurley waits, the more likely is he doesn't take the job. Is he renegotiating with Yukon getting a second car, another week of vacation? I don't know. Yukon's got some wealthy boosters. This is the kind of, you'd have some leverage. Companies are always willing to give you a week off, a little less willing to throw money at you. So, I mean, for Dan Hurley, who's a workaholic, obviously, he's got.

got a really, really great life, but I could see him like negotiating things. I know when Lincoln Riley came to USC from Oklahoma, there's just things you can negotiate, make your life a little easier, less stressful. But I think there's also a level of stress these coaches are addicted to. Yeah. But it does feel like the longer it is, you don't have to negotiate with the Lakers. They offered it. It's all settled.

If you wanted the job, you just take the job. Just take it. Yeah. So he's probably like, hey, let me get another guy on my staff. Let me get someone in the NIL collective. let's ramp up. I need more help. You know. Like another thing, and I don't know this to be true, but certain coaches fly only private for recruiting. Although a lot of recruiting is now done on Zoom calls, because a lot of it's transfer portal stuff.

Can you get more guarantees from the top booster so you don't ever have to, I mean, and I'm just guessing here, but usually if you're going to take a job, you know in the flight home. You know in the drive back. You kind of make your mind up. again he could announce right now he can announce the lakers i would not be shocked but by lean i think i'm like a 6535 lean to stand at yukon yeah unfortunately probably that's what's happening so here's what gets interesting what do you do next is it do you make a hail mary for j right um do you go back to j j j reddick or is j jrattick like ah you guys didn't show me love the i just don't know where you go from here if you're the lakers well jay right it's just funny it was basically it went from

JJ Reddick is assembling a staff to we've been talking to Hurley for months and here comes Jay Wright. I would guess the Lakers are on the phone back with JJ Reddick now. I mean, JJ Reddick could be looking at all this stuff going. Yeah, it's not the good job you think it is. Reddick's a ducy.

Reddick's in a cushy life right now. He announces NBA games and he does a podcast with his hat backwards. Like that, is that not, easy as it gets compared to coaching the Lakers? I think most successful people aren't seeking easy. I don't think that's easy is easy. Most successful people. So he wants to challenge himself and stop breaking down plays?

Everybody I've ever met that I consider bright. You know, do you want challenges. You get bored, kind of golf for the rest of your life at 58. There's other stuff to do. There's challenges that need to be, you want to be challenged. You want assignments. You like me challenging you. No, that I hate.

J-Mac with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, I'm going to call him your fourth favorite quarterback. Jordan Love and the Packers. Great end to last season. Everybody's excited.

They whooped the Cowboys in the Wildcard game, lost to the Niners in a pretty great game. Green Bay's offense looked good, but they did it without a true number one receiver. Something Love actually believe helps the team. We have a lot of depth that they've received. position, which I think is a really good thing. I think it's a good problem to have. And I think there's, you know, you don't have to have a number one receiver. I think it's, it works out well when you can spread the ball out.

And you've got different guys making different plays and you can put them in different areas. I think it puts a lot more stress on the defense and, you know, the calls that they can get in. So I think in the long run it helps us and not having a number one guy, true number one guy. But I think all those guys could step up and be the one, you know, any given day. He's smart. That's exactly right. That's a perfect answer. This is what I've been banging on for years.

You get a number one guy. You pay him $30 million. You get a lot of ego. There's like one or two guys I would pay for, Justin Jefferson. I think it puts way more stress on the defense when you don't know where it's going. And Green Bay is stacked at tight end and wide receiver. Like the deepest receiving core in terms of guys who can make plays, they may have six. All of them are good.

Okay, so that's a fair point. But I will go back to that 49ers playoff game loss. And yeah, during the regular season, not having a number one is fine. But in those high leverage games, you need third down. Who's my guy? Who is the dude I'm going to go to and go look at that 49ers game? Love threw it for a buck 94, Colin, with two picks. Who was his guy?

Christian Watson, one catch, 11 yards. Someone named Beau Melton caught a touchdown pass. I don't even know who that is. Jayden Reed, four for 35. Romeo Dobbs, four for 83. Well, when it came to beating the elite teams. And in fairness. the Niners at home are a veteran team.

100%. Packers are kids. Last year was like a win to get into the playoffs. The fact they beat Dallas and Dallas, like the season's made. You're going to shut it down. We're done. Call the Commissioner. We're done.

This year is the second step in the rebuild of Aaron. So now you expect them to challenge for the NFC championship, I think. But I don't think they're a Super Bowl winning team yet. still think they're too young. But the Niners is kind of unfair. All those guys are veterans. I don't know. The whole,

He's looked good at Minicamp. One rival assistant coach compared him to another former LSU receiver named O'Dell Beckham, saying Neighbors is the most explosive rookie receiver. He could be like O'Don. early, throw him a hitch or a slant and he's gone?

He's got that type of talent? I think he's better than OBJ. Well, come. I do. I think he's a strong... O'Dell's first two and a half seasons or something were like record setting. There's no way Neighbors is doing that. Now with Daniel Jones.

No, no, but I mean in terms of a talent, I think he's more explosive. I watched them both play. I think he's more explosive. Harrison or Neighbors? They're both great. I would say Harrison and me, but they're both great. I think... I think Neighbors is more explosive.

Harrison's bigger, longer, fantastic. Rome or neighbors? Neighbors, again, more explosive athlete. I think all three of those guys are good. I think Rome, Adunze, is a can't miss, but I don't think he has an exaggerated ceiling. I think he's just going to be a really good pro for a decade.

Day one, he'll be a real, day one, Roma Dunzee will play. I mean, we're splitting Harris, but I'm with you. I got Harrison one, but I got Rome two. I got neighbors three. It's going to be tough. when Daniel Jones or Drew Locke. By the way, Drew Locke's putting up a fight for that quarterback job.

Little Yukon's got the best women's program and the best men's program. In the whole country, 360 Division I programs,

what are the chances that one school in rural stores, Connecticut, has the best women's and men's program? Isn't that crazy? That's just crazy to me. Do you think he looks at Kevin Ali, who won the title? I think that was with, who's the point? Shabazz Napier, maybe. Was that with him?

And Ali had chances to go to the NBA, and, like, everybody was all excited for him. And, you know, we have finite windows where you've got to strike while the iron is hot. We talk about this a lot. I'm not saying Hurley's going to fall off. They're going to be in the mix. They're top 10 team next year.

But his value will never be higher than right this moment coming off two titles. And the Lakers have an opening. If I'm in his circle, I've got to say. Well, it's not an easy decision. It would be an easy decision if he didn't win any titles. Then you would take the job. You know, right? Iron's hot go.

But the truth is, because he's won back-to-back. titles, even if he doesn't win a title next year. And they go Elite 8 and knocked out. He's not, nobody's going to go, you know, Hurley doesn't know what he's doing. No. Like he's got a window of a couple of years, and there's seven new jobs every year. Well, okay, we know the Celtics job's not coming open. That's the second best job in the league.

The Lakers job is the best. In terms of glamour, I'm not talking Bill. Nicks, I told a friend this weekend. Let's say the NICs, next year. in the playoffs fall apart physically again, as is the narrative with Tibbs teams that he grinds him at practice, too many minutes regular season, and they fall apart again. And all of a sudden you sort of get this, you know, maybe it's time. Everybody loves Tibbs now. We've watched Tibbs coach multiple times. But that's out of your control. We just heard Will Anderson, control what you

can control. Hurley can't control. control what's going to happen with the next year. You know what he can? Right now with the Lakers. No, he can't. He's got the offer. Clutch sports runs it. You know what he can control? Stop. Stop. Stop. You can control. What's there to control? You've got two championships. You've controlled everything. You control your personnel, your AD, your boosters are at bay. It's not like Texas or Alabama crazy. I don't know. Listen, I love college hoops. You know that. But does not it kind of feel like a JV version?

He was asking people who he didn't know particularly well, what are your thoughts on it? What would you do? He was searching for answers, and my feeling is there were too many certainties. myself questions, 36 hours, 48 hours after an interview, you didn't come with a compelling enough case. And I'll just say this, is Jay Mack had made really interesting points earlier that you have to strike when the iron is hot. That

is true in most cases. That it's like Taylor Swift is on fire. Get her on tour. Like, I get that. But be very careful. One of my rules in life, be very careful about trying to get happier than happy. Dan Hurley, wife's from Jersey, great program.

He's a very happy guy who just won a national title. Be careful about trying to be happier than happy. If you're happy, you won. Go on the internet. Everybody's angry. Everybody's pissed. Nobody's happy. Everybody's tribal.

I wake up, I drive to work, I'm happy every day. I won. Be careful about trying to elevate above that. He's in a great spot. Best program, great family. You know, it's a beautiful place in the country to live. He's got control over personnel. And I think the bigger picture is, Laker fans struggle with this.

Don't confuse big brand with great job. The NBA is not the NFL. You just can't, it's not baseball where you can just buy as much as you want. It's not football where you can trade almost anybody you want. You've got a salary cap, and you have to have matching salaries to trade it. They don't have a lot of draft capital. This is also, and I don't think this can be underscored. LeBron is a lot.

In LeBron's prime, you would put up with anything. He got you to the finals. He gets you to the playing game in the West. And by the way, the West young players, Yokic is getting. better. Ant's getting better. Luca's getting better. All the Western players, the young stars, aunt. They're all getting

better. LeBron's getting older. Well, but the brand, this is not college sports where a Jim Harbaugh or a Steve Sarkesian or a Kirby Smart can walk into Georgia and get 25 first round picks every year. The Lakers don't have two

of their next four first round picks. So this is a very hard league. and the draft only gives you about eight good players a year. Like, you know, this is a bad draft. Draft picks don't mean anything this year. People are trying to push draft picks off. In the NFL, you'll get a bad draft two years ago.

It was a weak NFL draft. Most of my executive buddies, scouts buddies were like, you run out of player by late third, early fourth, you're out of players. Now, you can get Pooka and Akua. There are gems, but it wasn't considered a great. draft this was considered a great draft but in the NFL you're going to get four really good rounds with with still gems undrafted fifth six seven in the NBA like this draft you may be you may not have a star in it you may not have a single star in this draft so you're

also when you get in the NBA when you get a star he's 19 he's Jalen Green he doesn't even know how to play Detroit Lions get Panayette Sewell, great day one. Aidan Hutchison, great year one. You get, in football, you get guys that can play immediately. C.J. Stroud, stud second half of his first game.

Sauce Gardner, lockdown, opener. That doesn't happen. I mean, Wemby comes into the league. He's the best prospect they're saying ever. Do you see how many games of Spurs won? The same as the year before, without him. And that's,

the great player of the future of the NBA. See, you'll get an occasional Draymond Green or a Yokich in the second round. There's a reason I can name them. Half the NFL is undrafted. So it's a much easier bill. I mean, Oklahoma City has done everything right. Everything right for four years. Everything.

They've won every trade. They can't beat Dallas. They can't win a second playoff series. and Sam Presti for three to four years has literally just I mean think of how good Danny Ains did in Boston he won every trade it felt like for five years right like everything and they're still looking for titles

right they got one yeah well which is it you were like the Lakers don't have two first round draft picks who cares about draft picks look at uh I forget who with the guest earlier was it the Sixers coach he was like listen Brad Stevens goes out we're going to grab Al Horford. Nobody wanted Al Horford. We're going to go get Drew Holliday. Derek White. You can find value out there. I know the Celtics built through the draft way back

when, but I don't know. I just I think it's being a little harsh on this Lakers team. Two years ago, conference finals. Okay. Two years ago, AD was two years younger. LeBron was two years younger. The West, we didn't really have Ant.

We didn't really worry about Chet Holmgren or SGA. The West, the West has exploded with young talent. That's true. And they're all getting better. I mean, Ant and Luca are not getting worse. You think LeBron's worried about, like, young teams? I think LeBron should be worried about his ankle.

It bothered him for three years. He was a healthy season. He was all NBA, Colin. They're not that far off. Now, I know I would agree the West is loaded and it's going to be difficult, but you get the right coach in there. I think the most interesting aspect of this, Colin, where do they go to next?

Do they go back to LeBron's guy, Reddick? Or do they say, we're going to go in another direction? Because that will tell a lot about the future of the Lakers and how they feel about Clutch and LeBron. If they don't go right back to Redick, his guy. Well, we're going to have Chris Broussard top of next hour. That's a very interesting point. Why all of a sudden did Dan Hurley's name come out of nowhere?
