All right, it's hour two on a loaded day. Dodger manager Dave Roberts in a couple of hours. Paul Pierce around the corner. So a big story today is that Dan Hurley, Yukon's back-to-back, head coach national titles.

He and Bill Self, probably the best college basketball coaches today, now that Coach K. Roy Williams, Jay Wright, have moved on. It's Bill Self and Dan Hurley. Yukon dominates the Northeast in recruiting and titles. He was recently on the Mike Francesa podcast and talked about a potential jump to the pros. I do aspire. You know, one day, it's the right NBA. If the right situation where an organization wants a tone setter to come in and instill a culture,

you know, young players and an organization that wants to pursue championships. But it would have to be in the Northeast with your wife? Or would she? Because I don't know if she'd go all over the country, would she? She's the boss. All right. So I do think that's a thing. What would Dan Hurley's wife do?

So this is very interesting. So when Paul Pierce came out of Kansas, he went to the Celtics and his first coach. Let's bring Paul out was Rick Bettino, who was obviously the legendary coach, the ascending coach, the genius coach at Kentucky. So Paul Pierce 19 years in the NBA. So let's get right to that.

So Patino had to deal with big market, relentless Boston media. Yeah. There's some legendary quotes as, you know, Larry Bird's not walking. Do that door and all that stuff. So let's go back to your rookie year where these college coaches, they get to choose all the players, big man on campus, and now here comes to big market media.

Right. Did you know immediately this could be a little turbulent? Well, I didn't know immediately because when you come out of college and playing for a college-based coach, I thought the pros was no different from college. Until I heard from like other players, veterans that were on the team, you know, you had Kenny Anderson, Dana Barros

you know guys who play for other NBA coaches they'd be like you know this is not the NBA this is crazy you know like the way we practiced and it was times where we lost the game we would land one in the morning and we'd be at to be in the gym in the hour we did that

and two in the morning two in the morning we had practice before I remember that like yesterday and you know I don't know no better but other guys would be like No, this ain't what NBA really all about. We practicing on back to backs. But I don't know no different.

I don't know no different until like really until like Doc come around. You know, and then I was like, oh, this is this is NBA. I mean. So when Doc came around, Doc would, I always heard the stories about Doc when he had the veteran team. Yeah. Doc would tell veterans on a road trip. We won't practice until you lose. Like if you were winning.

Oh, we would do that. Yes. That's right. Yes. I remember, I mean, we've come to shoot around, and we on a team that's in the middle of a four-game loser's streak. I remember saying one day, like, Doc, we don't even need practice for this. We got this.

He said, you sure? We got this, Doc. We go out, win by 20. And so we gathered that trust. So every time we did that, as long as we won, you know, we didn't have to go to shoot around. It was actually shoot-around, not practice. When shoot-around would take place. the day of the game.

So that morning you'll go through a walk through. Yeah. And so we get to walk through like that. We don't need to walk through for them. We're just going to go get some rescue ready for tonight. That's right. Veterans. Yeah, veterans.

That was pre-netflix. Now you're just getting to sleep. Yeah. Right, right. So Dan Hurley's interesting because, I mean, the people I didn't, but for the record, Petino may have worn you guys out,

but he was a brilliant basketball mind. Yeah. Hurley is considered similarly a really brilliant guy. I also think Hurley, back in Petino's Day, you didn't have the media coverage,

everybody was kind of trying to figure out college of the pro thing. I don't think Hurley would be calling 2 AM practices. No, no, but we had a young team too, though, at the time. Our team was based around our youngsters,

me, Ron Mercer, Antoine Walker, with the building blocks. So it's a little different in this situation. You got the star of all stars over there. And AD?

And AD? I mean, yeah. So you got a guy, and they're, one. So, you know, it just makes me wonder what's the real expectations are around here when you bring him in. So you're flying to Boston for game two. Yep. I hope they have nice seats for you. Hopefully. Okay, hopefully. So, I've said this before. Fans in the media don't matter a lot, but players, you can't hide from everything. It feels like the pressure's all on Boston.

So when you played the Lakers, the good news about playing the Lakers was, they had to face pressure too. They got Kobe. They got Gassol. Yeah. But if I got the better offensive roster, I have dominated the East for seven years. Lucas on a heater, I think there's real pressure on Boston. Absolutely. There's more pressure.

Coming into the season, Colin, nobody expected the Mavs to be in the finals. I didn't think they'd be the Clippers. Yeah. So, of course, the odds on favorite was Boston. And if they weren't the odds on favor, they were near the top based on what they did over the last few years. And then you make the trade for Drew Holliday, for Zingis. You already got Taita, who's been an MVP candidate, Brown Perennial All-Star. Of course, the pressure is on, but that's the pressure we want.

We only hang up championship banners in Boston. We don't care about division championships or Eastern Conference championships. It's always pressure. And there's only certain organizations in all the sports. You got to understand that has these type of pressures. Boston, Lakers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees. That's fine. We know what it is when we walk in there every day.

See that? Look at that decoration. Look at all these decorations. Right, all right. So what it's about. So you were a two-way player. You were a better version of Paul George. You were a two-way player that could do it on both ends, long, could handle the ball, could score.

how would you defend Luca? Well, I think the thing is the best way to defend him is to make him play defense because those other series I saw, he didn't have to defend. You never saw him in foul trouble too much. You didn't see him. All you saw him was over there in the corner guard to some guy who was a catch-and-shoe guy or Rudy Gobert posting him up who wasn't a big post-threat anyway in the last series. And then you got to find way.

to go at him to make him have the pressure of garden. So if he's over here at Garden, Derek White, let's see if I can get him in a situation to where he's on the island with Jason Tatum or Jalen Brown or even in the post of Porzingis. Let's put some pressure on him that way. Because if you wear him down on that end, it'll affect his offense. Trust me. Because I've been in series where it was tough on me to score.

I got to worry so much about Garland LeBron or Carmelow or Vince Carter that it just wears you out. to where you just sometimes don't have the energy on the offensive end. And I think that's the best method to go about it because he's the leading score. It's going to be tough to just stop him saying we're going to focus this defensive strategy. You got to go at him on the other end. Go to all the great players you played. Does Luca have a hole?

Did all great players even Kobe have a side or a hole? Does Luca have one? I think with all great players, you just got to pray it's not their night. and you got to find ways just to not make it as easy it always usually is for them. Like if Luca has 35 or, and you say he shot 10 for 28, I'm happy. I'm happy. You know, he was inefficient. He was inefficient.

Maybe he got to the line and made some tough shots. But if he's inefficient, I'm happy with that night. Because if he's getting 35 and he's efficient, then that's not a good sign. You're not doing anything to disrupt what he's doing out there. So you play, didn't you play a couple years with JJ Redick? Yes, I did. What would he be like? I mean, obviously he went to Duke.

A little snobby, you know Duke guys. No, I mean, probably little snoby. Got good hair, Duke guy. Yeah. A little snobby. Did he connect with guys at all? Yeah, I thought JJ was pretty cool. I connected with him.

We had our basketball conversations in the locker room. I thought he, I think he has a great intelligent basketball. basketball mind, high IQ. Yeah, I mean, I could see him actually developing into a good coach, not actually being out the gate because I think there's always a learning curve. But then you thought the same thing with Jason Kidd kind of. Jason Kidd out the gate. Steve Kerr out the gate. I mean, I thought Jack Vaughn will be a great coach. I mean, he's, I played Jack Vaughn in college.

Brilliant basketball mind. And most point guards are. So, you know, sometimes it translates. And sometimes you gain the respect of the players, but then sometimes it's just not for you. So isn't the key, though, that the best players like the coach and everybody falls in line? Is it like if Dan Hurley just really hit it off with LeBron? It would work, right? I thought Darvin Ham hit it off with LeBron at first.

You know, but I don't know, man. I think winning and losing has a lot to do with it, truthfully, because if you're not, winning and then you're in a system to where you're not, you're not being productive and, you know, practices aren't what you think they're going to be in the system, the offensive system and defensive system isn't there. I don't care who you are. You know, but ultimately, you have to have a relationship with your best player because you know who the first one to go is not going to be that player, especially a guy like LeBron who's, you know, you probably won't have to worry about for like a year, maybe two at most.

And I truly believe that once LeBron leaves, they're going to go into a rebuild situation. You know, I don't know how many years left on 80 contract, but I really truly think that they'll probably look to move on from him. I said this earlier. When I saw the story this morning, my first take is, what does it mean for LeBron? But I also thought this. Let's say I own the Lakers. And I'm watching Dallas, Lucas 25, ands 22.

OKC's guys are all young 20s. Here comes San Antonio Houston. Wemby. And I'm sitting there thinking, A.D. is brittle. LeBron's old. Do you think there is something where the Lakers are saying to themselves, listen, we're looking at the West. Forget the Celtics who got two guys in their prime. We got one elite player in his prime, and he's an old prime AD because of the injuries. Yeah. That the Lakers are watching the West, and suddenly O.KC is better now than we thought,

and Minnesota is better than we thought, and Dallas is going nowhere, and Minnesota's going, and Denver's going. and they're looking around going, we got the CBA is not going to give you three stars anymore. Those days are over. That apron, that second apron, you're not bringing three stars. The Golden State thing is over. It's over. So my takeaway is they look at Dan Hurley and think,

we'll give LeBron a heads up, but we're going to go in a different direction. It's going to be an oven, not a microwave. Yeah. That feels like a real. This could actually lead to a shakeup. That's what a paradigm shift. I mean, as soon as this summer.

I'm saying because like you put it all in perspective when I look at these other teams the Lakers are not a championship. No way. You got to start building these assets up because another team you in Memphis. Memphis. You didn't mention them. No. You didn't mention New Orleans.

Sacramento. Sacramento. The league is shifted. If you can get something for AD or LeBron as significant to fast forward. Yeah. draft capital. I can fast forward your.

your future to where everybody's happy, I think you got to do it. I also think here's a possibility. You bring Hurley in if he got it. You don't make a move. You move off DeAngelo Russell. You make some moves. He'll get Rui to play his very best. He'll get Austin Reeves to play his best.

He'll make it work initially. But then at the trade deadline, and you're like, okay, he's going to come back and say, guys, I'm watching OKC. I'm watching death. We're not there. I think it could be a it all feels like it kind of works early and then they make a big swing at the trade deadline

for a team like I don't know if it's the Knicks I don't know what it is but all of a sudden it's a team that's good but man AD is he's the difference yeah if you can get some young assets in build for the future bring in Brani

let him develop under his death I mean yeah I know you're going to drive Brani or pick them up in free agency depending on if they draft them or not. Let Brown play with them. See if there's anything out there that can kind of fast forward. Hey, maybe you can get Zion Williams somehow. Maybe they're not high on him because

he's injury prone. I mean, you got to swing for the fence. So when Brad Stevens was coming in, they moved you in KG. He decided we're going young with Brad Stevens. Did you see it coming? Did you know you were moving? We knew the right was on the wall. You knew it. It was talks about it, you know, after the season. Yes. Yes, I heard it from Danny Age.

We had these sit downs all year long. What do you say? He just said it's a possibility that, you know, we can move on and, you know, we'll get some offers. But, you know, he wasn't going to move us to a place we want to be, didn't want to be. So when Brooklyn came up, it was like, oh, okay, New York into my career, big city. They got a bunch of draft picks and you got a cool city. And, you know, they got two young all-stars over there, so we could probably help get them over the top.

That wasn't a bad. That wasn't a bad. I wasn't mad at that. All right. So you've been through this. You've had the college coach. I can't believe Rick Petino at two in the morning. We practiced at two in the morning.

We landed, lost the game, landed. In Boston. In Boston, wherever we was at, we landed, and he said, I'll see y'all at the gym in the hour. Oh, Jesus. Yeah, that was crazy. And I know Kenny Anderson. Kenny's fine.

Kenny would just not, that didn't play with Kenny? No, that didn't play. I didn't play with none of the vets. But I'm a rookie. I'm still trying to prove myself. What I'm going to say? I'm like, all right. I'll see y'all there.

I see y'all there. I ain't on my second contract. I'll see y'all there. I might have been, I think I probably went straight from the plane to the gym. I didn't even go home. Kenny may have gone on a trip to the Bahamas. He may not have been showing up. Yeah.

Paul Pierce. Good thing you's always, man. Always, always. You'll see him on TV. He'll be there game one tonight, game two, Sunday in Boston. Yes, sir. You go to the North End, Knoxville. Always. North End's where it's at?

Oh, man, I got to haul out. My boy, Stregor, my boy. What restaurant? What restaurant? Strega. I like Stregor over there. That's my man. Those are my guys over there.

Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. We had that fun quarterback draft this week. He took C.J. Stroud a little high for my liking, but C.J. Strauss having an interesting week, Colin. He, remember, said earlier he'd rather have Eli Manning's career than Aaron Rogers. Well, it didn't stop there for some reason. C.J. Stroud took another jab at Rogers saying, if you gave Matt Stafford a chance like Rogers had, I guarantee he might have had more rings for sure.

Yeah, oh, yeah. I'd say he'd have three or four he's tough as nails. Yeah, if you put Stafford in Green Bay with the general manager, the O-lines, the continuity, and the organization, there's no doubt in my mind. He'd have more than one Super Bowl. No doubt in my mind. Those back-to-back jabs at Aaron Rogers. Jabs.

I don't see them as jabs. I don't know. He could reference any quarterback ever, and he's now taking two at Aaron Rogers. He's basically saying Aaron Rogers is a career underachiever. Eli Manning won more Super Bowls, and Rogers didn't do what he should have with the Packers. Those aren't jabs? Is he wrong? He's not wrong, but he's calling out another quarterback.

It just seems uncharacteristic, no? Well, I don't know what his characteristics are because he hasn't been in the league very long. I kind of like it. There's another point. He's been in a league for five minutes, and he's taking shots at Aaron's. Well, I think his point, though, before we get all in this big kerfuffle, all freaked out, if Matt Stafford wasn't with the arguably league's most dysfunctional, franchise. The minute, the first year, he went to an organization that had his act together,

he won a Super Bowl. First year. So it's like, do you think in 10 years in Detroit or Green Bay with excellent offensive coaches, at least offensive coaches, good front offices, never a bad, Aaron never had a bad O line. Now, Aaron only had one great defense, but he never had a bad O line, always had weapons, just all the nonsense. The lions were along with like Washington, with Dan Snyder, the race. just dysfunctional. Stafford is, you know, he's not going to get the top 10 quarterback love that Rogers will all time. But I'll let me take that.

Really free to. If Stafford wins another Super Bowl, he is going to elevate. I honestly believe this. He's going to elevate above Marino because he's Marino in terms of arm talent. Yeah, no, no, no. I have no problem with that, but he's not, how's he winning another Super Bowl? I think Rams are packed, loaded with talent. Hey, last year, I tried as your mentor.

I try to guide you to a more reasonable opinion. You had them as a four-win team. I'm like, no. Yeah, I had them selling it the deadline. I was wrong. A rare mistake from your boy. Let me just tell you something. They're going to be excellent this year.

Excellent. Are they going to be elite like the Cowboys? They're better than Dallas, no question. They're better in Dallas. That's not close. Better coach, better quarterback. Overall, better weapons. Interesting.

Two star receivers. Oh, yeah. Vegas. Better tight ends. Better running backs. You know Dallas is favored in like 13 of their 17? Rams are better across the board. Better coach, quarterback.

Better coach a coach. Better running backs, tight-ins wide receivers. That Colby Parkinson's kid they got from Stanford. Good tight-in with Seattle. Good tight-in. Tyler Higby. Rams are good. It's not your worst take.

They got more better-scale position players. Dallas has no running backs. One tight-in and one receiver. Zeke Elliott's back. What are you talking about? Zeke Elliott's like these jeans I'm wearing. They just got one. washed. Boom.

Ooh. Sorry. Roasted. Dax guy. Zinceli. Second story here. Oh, let's talk about your favorite quarterback. He's your favorite. Kyle Lurie, just a minute. You love it. He's fully healthy.

Missed the first nine weeks last season. He came up to me at the UFC event and made sure to connect with me. We communicate. We respect each other. Did he drop the digits or anything? What does that mean? Did he give you his phone number? I don't ask for phone numbers from guys.

It's not my jam. No, I don't ask for phone numbers. I'm not into that stuff. But I've made sure he came over. I made sure I connected, talked to him, eye contact. You could see there was a professional respect between us. He's just not into cultivating sources, you know, like a real journalist, getting a phone number. I have plenty of sources.

Inside Arizona, for the record. Anyways, let's finish up Kyla Murray here. He's had a few practices in OTAs feeling really good about being in year two of the new Cardinal system. Just really, you know, really locked in. really locked into what we're doing. You know, it's really, for me, confidence and understanding where to go with the ball no matter what they're doing because I've been in the system a year. And when you feel like that, man, the sky's the limit.

I play keeping my whole life. But when you're at that point, and I really can't explain it to you all, but it's a, it's a good feeling. You know, so at that point, you know, it's just going out there and executing. I just took a peek at the card schedule. to break it to you. Let me see it. They open at Buffalo. That's a loss.

That's a tough one. Then they host your Rams. That's a loss. That's a tough one. Then they host Detroit. That's another loss. So they're going to start 0-1-3. And then you're going to start the well as Kyler Murray done.

I keep your eye on that Buffalo game. I keep your eye on that. Do you're a live dog in that one? I think they're a live dog. Okay. After that Washington, they'll get a win against... No, I think that Buffalo game, they're a live dog. But then San Francisco, Green Bay, Chargers,

Dolphins. It's a tough schedule. It's a tough schedule. That is brutal. And then they've got to play the Jets in November. That's a loss. Oh my gosh. Cardinals are going to be like a four or five win team.

Holy God. I didn't realize it was that bad. You just wait until you see Marvin Harrison on the field. He's good. They're offensive pieces. He's not going to make like a three-win difference. Sorry. No, but their offensive pieces are going to score points.

That's going to be a fun offense. I just need a quarterback. They're going to be fun to watch. Okay. Buffalo is going to be reeling in week one. They don't know how to guard. Wait a minute. They don't know how to cover Harrison.

They don't know how to cover it. You love Buffalo. I like Buffalo a lot. They're in your Super Bowl bubble. I don't love a lot. My wife, kids, I don't love a lot. I like a lot. I had a piece of fish last night.

note in the contract, there's a report that indicates Russell Wilson had a no trade clause put into his deal with Pittsburgh. So they can't ship him off to Siberia? Catmandu, whatever, yeah. But this was, again, before Fields even got there. What? A one-year

deal and he got a no-trade clause? That, to me, kind of sort of sounds like a quarterback who's not confident at all. Well, it sounds like a quarterback who He doesn't want to have to take Sierra and go live in Carolina or something. It's a one-year deal. You're literally there maybe less than a calendar year, right? They're not going to the playoffs.

His whole thing is it's a leverage point. He can say, listen, you can move me, but you've got to give me some options here. Russell's career is one of the strangest... Mid-season quarterback... Stop. Mid-season quarterback trades. They don't really happen, Colin. Well, he's not going to get traded.

Okay, so why put the no-trade clause? So one-year contract. What he's saying is... I don't trust this league. I thought I didn't trust Pete Carroll. Okay. And then I went to Denver. I didn't trust that situation.

People looked me in the eye and said they loved me and moved off me. I'm going to Pittsburgh. You're not doing that. You're not doing that. I get a saying this thing. I feel bad. I feel bad. I mean, if you had two bosses that looking in the eye told you they loved you, patting you on the back,

and I'm not blaming the coaches, but they moved off him. So he's got a trust issue. I get that. I understand that. Now, they could have counter. Sean Payton could have countered. But listen, it was a money thing. I didn't give you that contract.

Well, people say a lot of things. But when they move off you, it's painful. You're the star in Denver, and now you're battling Justin Fields for snaps. It's a trust issue. He just wants some leverage and protection. Yeah. Man. It's tough.

NFL's tough, man. Russell Wilson had an amazing running. His career is so different. I don't even know what to compare it to. Top of the food chain. No big injury. Messy. traded again. Okay.

That's weird. Is Russell Wilson a whole of favor? No. He was on the path to it. If he'd crushed in Denver for four years, then you'd say... So wait, so he won a Super Bowl. He wasn't the MVP. Got to two. His career playoff record is 9 and 7, which is not terrible. He has one playoff

win in the last 5 years. He never won an MVP. I don't even know if you got a vote. Shucks. I think this is a an interesting, so the Hall of Fame is kind of tougher for NFL than it is like NBA. NBA puts refs in it.

I mean, seriously. I think there's Globetrotters. Russell Wilson. That's an interesting one. Is he a Hall of Fame? My first thought is like, can you, for a decade, he was one of the five or six best quarterbacks in the league? I think differently about, I mean, I couldn't

believe Jim Rice of the Red Sox. I mean, for years and years, when I was a kid growing up for a, if you're dominant for a decade in baseball in a sport. He was the American league. It was Reggie Jackson. To me, it was like Reggie Jackson and Jim Rice were the guys you didn't want to pitch

to, a lefty and a rightie. And Jim Rice apparently pissed off baseball riders, and for years and years they were stubborn with Jim Rice. Steve Garvey to me, he was the best first base, but in the National League for a decade, he was a great clutch hitter. He was a big postseason player. I mean, I don't understand all of it.

To me, if you're a great player for a decade, when I was a kid growing up, Steve Garvey National League, Jim Rice, American League, were dominant players. MLB's weird. Well, NFL's weird. NFL, hold on. So I'm just looking at up. Russell Wilson was the offensive player of the year.

He finished fourth. One year, he finished third, and he finished fourth. Those are like his best honors. I mean, nobody cares about Pro Bowl. Well, he's not a Hall of Fame. I'm not knocking it. I don't think he is. I'm trying to make the case that he is.

He led the league in touchdown passes once. That's not, come on. Oh, man. He does not have an amazing resume. He was part of an amazing ecosystem for years in which he spearheaded the offensive part of it, but it was a franchise more known for running in defense. He was known for great over-the-top bubble hailmeries to win games late. He was an elusive quarterback.

He got many other young, small mobile quarterbacks drafted. He got Johnny Mansell drafted. I mean, he got guys drafted. He had influence. He had more influence than he had legendary stats. Let me ask you this. Matt Ryan or Russell Wilson, who gets your vote for Hall of Fame? Neither, but they're both very good.

You have to give a vote to one. No, that's not a... Well, I mean, like Matt Ryan won an MVP award. He was the best quarterback in the league award. But he didn't win a Super Bowl. He came inches away from winning a Super Bowl. So Andrew Luck was in his draft class with Russell Wilson. Is he a Hall of Famer?

No, but he is probably the most talented quarterback that's not a Hall of Famer because of injuries it was cut short. RG3 was in his quarterback class. He obviously is not. Yikes, this quarter of a Ryan Tannahill. I'm trying to make a case for Russ. I'll need some more time on that, but it looks a little bit. You may need more time than you think to make a case on that one.

Philip Rivers or Russell Wilson. They're not Hall of Famers. I love Philip. I can love a player, not a Hall of Famer. Hall of Fame should be much more restrictive. Hall of Fame? It's fair. Yeah, you're probably right.

I'm not going to conceive to you yet. There are people in the radio hall of fame couldn't get me to a commercial break bore the tears out of me. Can you name their name? I'm not going to name it. No, I'm just doing. You don't get the repercussions. I do. J-Mack with the news.

So it's interesting in these finals. A lot of times people will ask me, like, who you got, who do you like in the game? And I tell people all the time, I root for interesting. Not that I really care this weekend. I'll watch the games, Yankees, Dodgers, but what? more interesting is the Dodgers sweeping the Yankees because New York is such a hot bet of baseball. They like to talk baseball more than L.A. likes to talk baseball, though L.A. likes to go to the games. So if the Yankees unraveled, they got swept. It's in New York. It'd feel personal. That'd be more

interesting to talk about. Caleb Williams tearing it up for the Chicago Bears, looking like the next Mahomes, is really interesting. If you gave me four NFL stories that I'm rooting for this year, Because it makes my job easier. It's Caleb crushing in Chicago. Aaron Rogers stays healthy with the Jets and takes them to the very end of the playoffs or season. And he's on podcasts and he's controversial. I would say number three is Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert are rolling week one and win 11 or 12 games. And then probably the Dallas Cowboys unravel.

And Mike McCarthy, Dak doesn't have a contract and CDs grumbling. And McCarthy butcher's a game with clock management late. I root for interesting. I think Dallas beating Boston is more interesting. Now, I think the Celtics are going to win. I think they're deeper. They have more offensively gifted players. They get game one and game seven at home.

Channing Fry was on yesterday. He kind of breaks down the series. I do like the alpha of Kyrie and Luca. And this is why it's more interesting. You'd have the story if the Celtics lost that, oh, my God, Tatum and Brown. you break him up. This Tatum guy, I love him, but are you going to give him a max deal?

It'd be all sorts of combustion. Whereas if Dallas wins, you got Luca talking trash, you got Kyrie with revenge on Boston. There are 20 stories the next day if Dallas, if Dallas beats Boston. I could do three days on it. If Boston wins, they're at home. They're the favorite. They should win. They've got more offensive players.

Austin, the better team, proved it last several years, went. You got an opening rant, and that's who's supposed to win. Here's Channing Fry on what he suspects will happen in the series. I think sometimes the Celtics are so talented that they lean on each other a little too much at times, and they go, no, your turn, no, your turn. And we want the guy who I think is the most aggressive is Jalen Brown, and he showed that last series. He said, you know what, now these guys can guard me.

I'm going, I'm just going to barbecue them all. Jason Damon goes, well, when you play that way, I'll play that way too. And so I think this series, when you look down to it, it's the defense of the Celtics and their continuity. Can they break down the defense of the Dallas Mavericks? I suspect they can. It's just hard for me to see Derek lively a rookie against this veteran team and Horford and Porzingis. And they just, the veterans for the Celtics, their bigs are old men. they've been playing for years.

You put lively into that. I don't know. I don't know his, what, how this sort of his ceiling in this series. I'm going to take Boston and six, winning on the road in Dallas. But I do think if Dallas wins, it's more interesting, and that's what we root for. Here's another story. The Lakers, LeBron James, reportedly told the Lakers, hey, whatever you do, hire the guy that you want for the next 10th. years. Here's another shocking report out of Los Angeles. I will read you the headline. Lakers star

Anthony Davis reportedly doesn't want J.J. Redick as a coach. He wants James Barago over Reddick. He's been a head coach twice in Charlotte and Orlando. So the stories here, Anthony Davis would not choose J.J. Reddick. LeBron is not tying himself to J.J. said go get the best coach. Well, today, this morning, Dan Hurley's a better coach than JJ Reddick. Now, JJ's smart. He could figure it out quickly. But these college coaches, when you get to the NBA, you know, I've said this before. College football looks a lot like the NFL.

I mean, if you watch Georgia play Ohio State, there's 24 NFL players on that field. That's not college basketball. The best team Yukon has a couple of players who will be rotational players this year in the NBA. and that's better than average. So the college basketball, the coach is the star, the coach controls everything. With NIL, college football, those guys, they go into a season, they know their top 10 picks. Paul Pierce broke into the league when he did from Kansas. He got a college coach.

Rick Bettina was rookie year. When you come out of college and playing for a college-based coach, I thought the pros was no different from college. Until I heard from like other players, veterans that were on the team, you know, you had Kenny Anderson, Dana Barrows, you know, guys who play for other NBA coaches, they'd be like, you know, this is not the NBA. This is crazy. It was times where we lost the game, we would land one in the morning and we'd be at to be in the gym in the hour. We practice on back to backs, but I don't know no different. I don't know no different until like, really until like Doc come around.

You know, and then I was like, oh, this is this is NBA. Now, Dan Hurley makes about five and a half million per year, just signed a six year, $32 million deals. He makes about five and a half per year in Stores, Connecticut. You can buy quite a home there in Stores, Connecticut. Here's the thing. If I was Dan Hurley, knowing J.J. Reddick's a podcaster with LeBron, and I'm his agent, my take is, I got to,

great job, you've got to pay me at least 5.5 million per year just because I got a great job. I want two and a half million because my wife's a jersey girl. I want three million because of LA's taxes, which eat half of my income. I think I would ask for a $10 million to $12 million a year deal. For six years, I'd want $72 million. And the reason I would ask for that, because Tailu's making 14, you don't have Tailu's resume. So you could ask for 11.5, 12 and a half, 12 and a half, 13.

Average about $12 million a year for five years. That's $60 million. You say, that's outrageous. He's the best college basketball coach. He's bringing back a team to three-peat. His wife's from New Jersey. California's taxes. All this stuff has to be considered.

Well, he's not making what pop is. He's not making $17 million a year what Steve Kerr is. But this is the best college basketball coach at the best. best program in the country. Yukon's the best college basketball program. I want $3 million per year to pull my wife away from her friends and social circle, the

housing, the taxes, and the fact that I'm making $5.5 million here. I can wear a hoodie to work. I got a friendly media. I got a nice home, backyard, dog likes it. I'm asking for the moon here. Here's the thing. The top

coaches in the NBA, they're not even applying for this job. They don't want it. The secondary guys have already taken jobs. You're down to JJ Reddick who's never coached in you. And the guy who coached in Charlotte for an hour and 45 minutes in Orlando. I mean, you've got to look around and go, well, wait a minute. Ask yourself this.

Who would you pay the most to? Hurley Reddick or the guy that Anthony Davis wants? Who has the most leverage? The most leverage is Dan Hurley. he's got a great gig he's going to win his third straight national championship he got he could get I mean

his offense is considered an NBA offense and he is exactly what the Lakers need a draft and develop coach so you know you say what you want about that here was Hurley this week with Mike Frances on the podcast talking about potential NBA gigs I do aspire

you know one day it's the right NBA If the right situation where an organization wants a tone setter to come in and, you know, instill a culture, you know, young players and an organization that wants to pursue championships. But it would have to be in the Northeast with your wife? Or would she, because I don't know if she'd go all over the country, would she? She's the boss. Yeah. All right.

J-Mack. Listen, I think you're missing one big factor. What's that? So I went on social media during the last. commercial break. I was like, they can get Hurley for cheaper than Reddick. You know, Reddick, come on. Reddick's got the cushy life. I'm announcing games. I go on podcasts. And he's

got NBA money. Never coached. Exactly. So if he's going to the Lakers, he's going to say, like, I got to uproot my entire life. I don't know if I'm going to get an announcing shot again. Give me 10 million plus. Time out. And that to me is insane. Remember, they got to pay Darvinham five million. First of all, J.J. Reddick,

you have to overpay for his staff. He's never been a coach. early you don't have to pay massive for that's the thing so then all these people online are like wait a minute Kentucky offered early 12 million a year that's a lateral move for early kentucky's a football school in the cc now like hurley has nothing left to prove in college i would rather coach at yukon than kentucky of course but there's nothing what what's he staying in college basketball for you got a chance to go to the lakers and coach lebron the greatest player in the history of the sport lebron's in year 87 i mean that's near you're you making it sound like it's LeBron seven years. Doesn't matter.

He still put, it was an all NBA player this past season. I know the L.A. taxes are a big issue for you, but bro, come on. It's the Lakers. There's no better coaching job in the sport than the Lakers. Oh, God. They're not even top 12. The Lakers? Yes.
