This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Oh, here we go.
It's our number two, live in Los Angeles.
Angeles, it's the herd wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Iheart Radio,
Fox Forks Radio, and FS1. Very exciting times. Very exciting times. J. Mack is joining us.
He is going to give us the very latest rumors. Now, we talked about this yesterday. Bill Simmons,
my friend came out and said, hey, keep your eye and Anthony Davis moving. And people said,
well, Bill's not a reporter. And my takeaway is, well, what is a reporter? Bill has
access, Bill makes calls, Bill says something, that's reporting. I'm not saying I mean,
I'm not asking everybody's a reporter, but I'm saying, what is it? I mean, if you have contacts
and you make a call, I have friends like that, they're in the business, they're opinionists
or podcasters, but they have contacts in front offices. They have buddies or friends. And if you
say something, and I trust your opinion, is that reporting? So I guess there, you know, as a guy who
worked at a newspaper, there is a vetting process. So if I go to my editor and say, hey, I called
up just Darry
and he told me this off the record,
can we run with it? Usually you need a second
source because Darryl Mori could be trying to smoke you
to get something out there. Yes, that's the rule.
Right. But you know where am I,
a lot of my, like for instance this week, I have
two dinners over a cocktail,
you lubricate the situation,
stuff flows. Right. Boom.
Is that reporting? I think it is. No, no. It's called
an informed opinion, right?
All right. That's what I do. You get
informed opinions. Yes. Well, I try to get
that with some NFL games. It didn't work out so well.
last week.
All right.
Perhaps coming forward.
All right, here we go.
I spend a lot of time on this, probably too much.
Says a lot about my social life.
Here's my herd hierarchy.
Heard hierarchy.
Time is now.
Let's go.
The top 10 NFL teams, according to college.
Number 10.
Vegas can't figure them out.
We can the Seahawks.
Listen, four-game winning streak, and they've won each game by over 10 points.
They're blowing out teams.
They have the number one defense in the league since week six,
and they have 43 scoring drives.
Why? Kenneth Walker, great left tackle.
Only the Ravens have more scoring drives this year in the league.
Folks, I think they're for real.
They're young, they're Pete Carroll's kind of team.
Gino Smith is playing way above anything we thought Gino Smith could be.
Seahawks deserve 10 maybe higher.
Number nine.
You watched the Ravens last night.
You tell me that's not a top 10 team.
Third straight win.
second best turnover differential in the league, a top five offense.
By the way, look at their schedule.
J. Mack said this earlier.
It is a lot of Ws.
I just think this team, the owner, the GM, the coach, the quarterback.
I like everything about him.
I don't even know why I doubted him last night.
Shame on me.
Big spots.
They always come to play.
They're physical.
And you know what I think about Lamar Jackson.
Pay him now.
Don't wait.
Number eight.
The dolphins.
Is it Tua? Is it Tyreek Hill? Is it both?
They're 6 and 0 when two is healthy.
I don't think their defense is playing up to par,
but they've got people in the right spot, left tackle, edge rusher, star receivers,
nice corners.
Do you know Tua leads the NFL in passer rating?
Now, some of that's nonsense.
I mean, last night, Dalton's passerating wasn't, I think it's QBR wasn't that much worse than Lamar.
So passer rating QBR, I don't know.
All I know is this.
They're great on third down.
They're not asking Tua to do stuff he can't do.
Miami looks the part.
Now Josh Allen's all banged up.
We know the Patriots don't have the weapons on the outside.
I think it's a playoff team.
I wouldn't want to play them in Miami.
I got to have the dolphins at eight.
Number seven.
Dallas Cowboys.
Listen, I like Dak, don't love him.
But man, they got a lot of nice pieces.
The edge rusher.
The star linebacker.
the star back, star receiver, star corner.
They have the best sack differential in the NFL,
and they have seven giveaways all season.
I'll say this for Dak.
He doesn't turn it over.
They don't put the ball on the carpet.
If you win the turnover battle in this league,
you win like three out of four games.
Dallas has earned it.
I have my misgivings about Mike McCarthy.
That'll probably surface in a big postseason game or a late season game,
but right now Dallas is seven.
Number six.
I like Minnesota in the preseason.
I like them now.
Now, they're six and oh and one possession games.
You're not going to win all of those.
But T.J. Hawkinson feels like an absolute indivision steal at tight end.
They're on a six-game winning streak.
They have a pass rush this year.
Last year, they fell apart physically.
This year, they're healthier.
They have a four-and-a-half game lead in their division,
so they'll be able to maybe rest starters post- Thanksgiving, Vikings at six.
Number five.
The bills.
I moved them down last week.
I moved him down again this week.
They're too dependent on Josh Allen.
Do you know he has eight picks and 13 turnover worthy plays?
Only Matt Ryan's got more.
I love him.
But you've got to give even your star quarterback help.
That's why Kansas City always has some semblance of a run game behind Mahomes.
Yes, they have the number one total offense.
Yes, they're the Mike Tyson of the league.
They knock out people.
But if you're looking for playoff teams that will succeed, you've got to have some nuance and can't be totally dependent, even if the guy you're dependent on is Josh Allen bills at five.
Number four.
Niners, in my opinion, when healthy, have the best roster in the league.
Do you know they have the fewest third and outs in the NFL?
And you don't like Garoppolo.
And he hasn't had many of his weapons.
Now they're getting healthy.
Here comes their fullback.
Here comes Debo Samuel.
Here comes Elijah Mitchell.
Number one total defense, fewest three-and-outs.
They're just banged up.
I don't know what it is, but they've been banged up for three or four years with Kyle Shanahan,
but they're getting healthy. Watch out.
Number three.
A team today that I think ends up in the AFC championship against Kansas City, Cincinnati.
If they can run the ball, Chiefs could be in trouble.
But it's been inconsistent.
Most underrated defense in the league, they just don't have star.
so you don't talk about him.
Joe Burrell's completing 70% of his throws.
When you can crush people without Jamar Chase, what does it tell you?
Burrell leads the NFL since week one and 20 touchdowns.
Again, this is a really good defense without stars.
Maybe I'm overvaluing them, but I think when they're at their best,
Kansas City could be in trouble.
Number two.
The Chiefs. Chiefs are great.
In Andy, I trust.
In Patrick Mahomes, I trust.
But opposing quarterbacks are averaging a 101 passer rating.
How would Joe Burrow do?
I worry about the back end of their defense.
They also start slowly.
Now, Cincinnati does too.
But Kansas City has this history.
They're 4-0 this year when they trail by 8 plus points.
Why would they trail by 8 plus points?
An apathy.
Do they save plays for later?
I do think right now they should be favored to get to the Super Bowl.
but Cincinnati could be a really interesting matchup for them.
They've got the defense that'll travel well to Arrowhead, KC2.
Number one.
What do you want me to say?
I didn't think Nick Siriani could coach.
I had my doubts about Jalen Hertz.
Now, here's what worries me about Philly.
They've won the turnover battle every week.
And as Jason and I have talked about, that's kind of random.
Like some years the fumbles go your way.
Some years the fumbles don't.
But they're also creating some of those turnovers.
but I like their, we said before the season,
we picked them to win their division,
their O-line D-line combination could be the best in the league.
I think they've earned the number one spot.
I don't know if they'd match up in a shootout with the Chiefs
or the Bills or the Bengals.
But right now they're number one.
All right, Jay Mack, your Jets were 12, the Giants were 11.
In a word, devastated.
I don't know how I'm going to rebound.
from this. First of all, Miami Dolphins at 8. Are you kidding me? They can't stop anybody.
Cincinnati Bengals at 3? I should. I've said enough.
Well, listen, this is not the standing. I know. I'm well aware of that. How's this? Seattle loses in Germany. Jets on the by.
Jets slide in at 10 on the by, baby. Nick right. Well, Nick will be satisfied. I've been dropping Buffalo
for back-to-back weeks. They're too cocky. They're two Josh Allen driven. Nick, right now,
co-host first things first.
You know, it is interesting.
What I love about Kansas City is they're the best come from behind team of my life.
I mean, even Brady, you didn't like him falling behind.
Does it concern you a little, though, that they get behind a lot?
It's just kind of their makeup.
Well, what concerns me is that even as you elevate them,
the whole chief segment of herd hierarchy was just the Bengals segment part.
too. I mean, I have a running list now of the teams that Colin Cowherd has either implied or outright said
would give Kansas City problems. Chiefs need to be worried. It started with the Broncos in the
preseason. It briefly was the Chargers. Then it was the Bills. Now it's the Bengals. Here's
an idea, Colin. The team with the best quarterback ever and the best coach currently is probably
going to be the favorites and the best team.
I understand the Bengals got them last year,
something Buffalo cannot say,
even though everyone pretended they did.
And I give them all the credit in the world.
And I like Joe Burrow almost as much as you do.
I think Cincinnati's really good.
But I would be concerned about the Chiefs falling behind
if they didn't have the best come from behind
quarterback in the history of the league.
And that's not an exaggeration.
No, it's true.
Nobody else in NFL history, even Brady,
wins 40% of their games when they trail by double digits.
Mahomes wins 60% of his games when he trails by double digits.
It's remarkable.
I do think there's an element of when they get down,
especially if it's late, they abandon the run game entirely,
and I think that helps them.
I think when it's just put the ball in Mahomes' hands,
if we need to run, he will run for us.
I think that works quite well.
And yeah, I mean, eventually, you'll be.
have them at number one, probably after they're hoisting the Lombardi, but not a day before.
It is interesting. The chiefs have rebuilt their defense, their O-line, and their receiving
core in three of the last four years. Buffalo can't build a run game in five. They're so,
and listen, I was late to this because I thought this was a Super Bowl team. But what's happening
to me is Alan has to be Superman. It's like Luke and the Mavericks. And if he's not,
they have no chance to win. And they may both win the NBA.
VP, Luca Dantage with Dallas and Josh Allen.
But you were a little ahead of this, and you're basking in this.
Well, listen, I just listen.
Josh Allen does not lead the league.
He leads the league in a few things.
Hype, you know, a fawning commentary, and turnovers.
Those are the categories of starting quarterbacks.
So he is not leading the league in yards or touchdowns.
He's not even top five in rating.
But he, there are two players in the league.
that are top five in the league in interceptions and in fumbles.
Josh Allen and Matt Ryan and Matt Ryan lost his job.
Obviously, Josh Allen should not lose his job,
but there was a real debate who the best quarterback in football is.
And the point I have been making is the debate is who is the second best.
And Josh might be the second best.
But it's not unanimous.
He hasn't proven it.
He has his – the bills look unstoppable.
when they are up by 21 points.
And they make a lot of mistakes when things aren't rolling for them.
And I do think that he is a punishing, devastating runner.
I think it is categorically insane that they run him as often as they do in the regular season.
I know he's big and strong.
Mahomes ran on Sunday night against Tennessee.
You know when he did it?
Third and 17 in the fourth quarter down eight.
third and nine in the fourth quarter to score a touchdown.
Having Josh Allen be your primary runner, I think is a recipe for disaster.
So, you know, I had said before this season, I said, what's going to happen in Miami?
They're going to bring this offensive coach, Tyreek Hill, all these weapons, and you're going to have a dilemma.
You're going to think you have a franchise quarterback, but Tua underthrown every deep ball.
Not occasionally, all of them.
Every deep ball is underthrown.
and, you know, I look at him and I'm like, it feels like the coach and Tyreek Hill are kind of being overlooked here in this equation.
Does it not with Miami?
Well, listen, I will give to a credit in this regard.
I, and I'm not sure if you were as harsh as I was, but I didn't, I thought he was a backup quarterback heading into this year.
I thought this was going to be to his last year as the starter.
I was wrong on that.
He has proven that he is an adequate, if not more so.
starting quarterback.
Yeah.
But the idea that he should be getting MVP buzz is crazy to me.
I understand they're undefeated when he starts and finishes games.
But the difference maker for Miami, in addition to the coach, is Tyree Kill.
And I know we're not allowed to give MVP to any position other than quarterback.
But Tyree Kill is halfway through what I think could go down as the most impressive wide receiver season
ever. He threw on a 16 game pace. He is on pace for 1,963 receiving yards. The record is
1,964. That is without obviously getting credit for the 300 plus yards of pass interference
penalties he's drawn. And the 300 plus yards he's left on the table because as you're saying,
a lot of these bombs, instead of going into the end zone, he's coming back for it. And he's not
getting the yard after the catch on because they are underthrown.
I think here's the stat that shows you Tyree kills impact.
Tua was there last year.
Jalen Waddle was there last year and was good.
Jalen Waddle last year averaged less than 10 yards per catch.
He was 103rd, 1003rd in the NFL and yards per catch.
This year, same player.
17 yards per catch, third in the NFL in yards per catch.
That is partially McDaniel.
is partially Jalen, you know, getting better, but it is also the defenses are so terrified
of what Tyreek can do that everything else is opening up. I think he has been the most impactful
player in the sport other than Michael Parsons and Patrick Mahomes this year. Yeah, no, I have no
problem with that. I mean, I don't think he's going to win MVP, but he's a field tilter.
So I felt like I understood what the Rams did last year. They're like, okay, we're going to go all
We're going to give up pick.
We're going all in.
And they won.
And everybody loves the Niners.
Kyle doesn't have a ring.
People are a lot of optimism in Seattle.
They haven't done anything, right?
For a long time.
So I get what the Rams did.
They went all in in a city that's distracted with the Dodgers and the Lakers.
And then you look up this morning and you're like, man, they don't have a lot of picks.
They are thin.
And they're terrible.
I mean, offensively, they're a mess.
What do you, is it Stanford?
McVeigh's now going public, meaning he wants the owner to hear this.
I'm taking the heat.
I need help.
What do you make of where they're at?
Well, so I think it's two things.
I think they, I don't want to say what they did last year was easy.
It obviously wasn't.
Winning a Super Bowl is very difficult.
But they did press some levers that other teams are hesitant to press.
Yeah.
And you're seeing why this season.
And those levers are putting it all on the credit card, mortgaging the entire.
of the future to try to win.
I guess one way to look at it is what a disaster this would have been if they hadn't won
the Super Bowl last year, but they did.
And so the banners fly forever, as they say.
With that said, they are en route, Colin, to the single worst Super Bowl defense ever.
And that's not hyperbole.
That's just the numbers.
And non-strike seasons, no Super Bowl defending Super Bowl champ in a 16 game season.
has won fewer than seven games except for one.
The 99 Broncos went 6 and 10, but John Elway retired.
So it's like, okay, you won back-to-back Super Bowls and the quarterback retired.
They still went 6 and 10.
That's the worst defending champion ever in a non-strike season.
The Rams, I think, max out at 6 wins this year, and it's a 17 game season.
Their offense is broken.
Stafford led the league in interceptions last year.
He's tied for second in the league in interceptions this year.
The Cooper Cup can only do so much.
And while obviously their defense played really well for 58 minutes on Sunday,
what the defense did on those last two drives,
but certainly the last one against the bucks, was embarrassing.
You knew exactly what you had to defend,
and they couldn't defend it, and they let a more abundant offense drive down the field.
And I got to tell you, I don't know if you've been on this, Colin.
But your guy, Tom Brady,
Mm-hmm.
Have you seen the quarterbacks that right now,
there's three quarterbacks he would,
but if they're the four seed,
the only road playoff games would be against
Jalen Hertz, who's 0 for one in the playoffs,
lost to Brady,
Gino Smith, who's never been in the playoffs,
and Kirk Cousins.
Oh, yeah.
Tom Brady is going to go eight and nine
and then host a playoff game
and then go visit Kirk Couss.
and then potentially have Jimmy Garoppolo or Gino Smith to go to his 11th Super Bowl,
and I'm going to lose my mind.
I'm not going to be able to handle it.
I see it happening.
He's going to be Daniel Jones visiting Tom Brady in round one of the playoffs.
We're like, really?
And he's going to win that game.
And it's like, wait, he plays Gino Smith now?
That's what's going to happen.
I'm telling you right now, that's what's going to happen.
You're not wrong.
Hey, we got a minute left.
I've been on this trade AD, good organization, see problems.
For two years you've been on it.
Yeah, before they happen.
He's having a good season.
I would move him.
I would sit down Rich Paul and LeBron and say, fellas, we're moving him.
I would even consider a Draymond Green and Jonathan Wiseman.
You've got to get younger.
I would consider anything.
What would you do with the Lakers if you ran him today?
Okay.
All right, I was open to all of.
this until the main piece coming back was going to be Draymond Green and
Wiseman who hasn't played 10 good NBA minutes yet. I would not do that trade Colin
Cowhert but am I listen the Lakers are a wreck and trading rust is not going to fix it
and yeah they might have to trade Anthony Davis if it has come to that I know he just
signed an extension then Rob Polinka should resign an embarrassment. The Los Angeles
Lakers were the, it won the championship and everyone was like, oh, it was in the bubble.
They were the number one seed before the bubble and no one in the bubble even threatened
them.
They ran through the Weston five games.
The next year, they had the second best record in basketball until LeBron got hurt,
and then the season went to hell they losing round one.
Polinka then made the choice.
I know everyone's like, LeBron made him do it.
LeBron couldn't get him to hire Ty Loo.
The idea that LeBron is the one calling in these trades is absurd.
But Rastor, a team that I have a team that has a team.
had won the title and had the best record in the West until guys got hurt.
And then it was a disaster.
And now this year is even worse.
They forgot to add shooting.
You were talking about going to the grocery store earlier and buying garlic bread.
They're cooking for Thanksgiving.
They forgot the turkey.
Shooting's kind of important in the modern NBA.
And now you might have to trade a top 75 all-time player who should still be in his prime
because you have no other path forward.
It's mortifying.
that the Lakers are in this position.
That's just my opinion.
I understand that Kurt and, you know,
Kurt Rambis is the real shot caller there,
so maybe he sees something different than me,
but I think it's absurd.
Yeah.
First thing's first is the show.
It is electric and the only show on cable TV with no budget.
It's really incredible.
That's true.
None.
Could use a better lead-in,
but aside from that, no complaints.
See you.
You big jerk and Nick Wright.
I love it.
All right.
Good stuff.
We take a break in a second.
You know, I got a lot of things going on here today.
Should I read a spot?
Let's do that.
Wolf and Shepherd.
That is going to be funny.
Brady against Daniel Jones, then Gino Smith and Kirk Cousins.
That made me laugh because that's going to happen.
Eight and nine into the playoffs.
And your jets won't make it and they'll be like 10 and 7.
You bite your tongue.
Do not say that.
One more herd?

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?

To be clear, 84 is big to me not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

When Vegas is confused, you know you're a surprise team.
What is Tampa Bay right now?
Not great. Seattle's going to beat that.
Seattle's great.
No, no. Seattle's a very good team, top 10 team.
But Vegas doesn't know what to do with them
because they keep making them underdogs to Arizona.
And if you watch the eight quarters I did,
Seattle was better than seven of them.
J. Mack with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
All right, speaking of bad teams, the Las Vegas Raiders, another brutal loss.
They blew a 17-point lead against the Jaguars.
Colin, it's the third time this season.
Josh McDaniels and Derek Carr have blown a 17-point lead.
And Carr, he said some things that were a little curious.
Here's what he said after the game.
I saw this.
You know, I think there was a lot I want to say, you know?
But if I'm honest, I don't need to.
say it here. There are things
that will be said. There are things that need to be
addressed in all these things. But I think
as a whole, the urgency part of it, after
30 minutes of football, we have to learn
that the game is not over. I have
some big, strong opinions on
Derek Carr. I'm so glad you did this
story, Jay Mack. Do you want me to read the rest of his
quote or no? No, keep going. There are
things in-house that we'll talk about
man-to-man
and all that kind of stuff that
could be addressed. So who
is he talking about? He's not
talking about his buddy Devante Adams.
Remember his college friend?
No, he loves Devonte. He should love Devfs.
Devonte Adams had eight for 146 in the first half.
Devonte's amazing.
Who's the problem here?
I think, I have to save some of this, but I think it is time for both Derek and the Raiders.
And you know I like Derek Carr.
But all relationships, they're not all meant to last forever.
I think the Raiders right now would have, what, the third pick?
and you could get, don't kid yourself,
nine years, six head coaches, got them to the playoffs,
you could get a lot for Derek Carr.
You saw what Russell Wilson fetched,
and Seattle had to send him to Denver.
They didn't have a choice where to send him
because that's where Russell picked.
He had veto power.
Derek doesn't.
So, you know, to go back to your whole,
what is a reporter,
there are some things we are able to get information.
We're privy to stuff.
I was mentioning two weeks ago,
Josh McDaniels is in trouble,
and Derek Carr could be on the block.
There are teams that would bend over backwards for Derek Carr.
I know he's not great.
He was very good last year.
He is a very veteran quarterback.
You don't have to worry about any of that young guy's stuff.
And he has shown time and time again in chaotic situations.
Laser focus.
Keep the team afloat.
There's a big market for him.
And I think Derek's to the point now.
He is exhausted from it.
On the open market, he would fetch stuff.
The Raiders may not want to reboot.
It's very exciting.
Raiders need to fix that defense.
How do you do it?
Get some draft picks.
But there's also the whole Josh McDaniels situation.
Who, if you are the Raiders, do you want to say, hey, we're all in on Josh McDaniels for the immediate future?
We're ready to, we've seen enough of Derek Carr.
Let's move on and get a new quarterback.
Or you call New England and say, give me Mac Jones.
You keep Bailey Zappy.
I don't know if that's true.
I just threw it out there.
You kind of freaked out.
Listen, McDaniels.
McDaniels is going to have options.
He did know Jimmy Garapolo, intimately from his time in New England.
He knows Mack Jones.
He might say, I love Bryce Young or one of these quarterbacks at the top.
I get a quarterback on the rookie deal, and then all these salaries don't matter.
Quarterback on the rookie deal is huge.
Colin, this is the team to watch right now.
And Derek Carr's the player to watch in the NFL this off season.
I'm going to do a whole segment on this.
Brian Daibol could use him.
Robert Sala could use him.
How about the Indianapolis Colts, who have had five different starting quarterback?
they can't afford him.
In week one,
Jets, Jets is very tasty.
How would they be with Derek Carnow?
With that defensive line?
Garrett Wilson emerging as a receiver.
Listen, I'm not out on Zach Wilson.
I know a lot of people,
he hasn't looked great through 16 games.
Let's move on.
I don't want to get in trouble with anybody.
Patrick Mahomes, Colin,
off back-to-back, 400-yard passing performances
against the Niners and Titans.
Mahomes, 2,605 passing yards,
season on pace to break the NFL record that Peyton Manning had back in 2013.
Here are the numbers.
We'll see them on the screen.
Peyton's number one, Drew Breeze, 2, Brady, Brady, Breeze.
And Mahomes is on pace to shatter all of that.
It's interesting because all I heard was Josh Allen is going to be the MVP.
Josh Allen has got to be the MVP.
Well, Josh Allen has...
He sputtered.
Josh Allen's got a defensive coach.
They still don't have a consistent run game.
Whereas this is the advantage of an offensive coach.
that there's a lot of nuance.
I mean, you've got to give Andy Reed credit.
He's rebuilt the O-line and the receiving core in back-to-back years,
and they haven't missed a beat.
That is understanding offense.
The O-line, in one year they rebuilt it.
And by the way, they hit on a center.
They went and bought guards.
People thought they overpaid.
By the way, you know, they lost his decent receiver named Tyreek Hill,
who leads the NFL most receiving yards through nine games in the history of the sport.
And Patrick Mahomes is still shredding.
Travis Kelsey,
Juju Smith-Suster looks like a player.
Valdez Scandling is okay.
They're going to incorporate more Cadarius, Tony.
Listen, I know Jalen Hertz is probably the MVP leader now because they're
undefeated, but Patrick Mahomes has got to be in the mix.
There are three quarterbacks right now.
Mahomes, Allen, and Burrow that feel like they've kind of,
kind of separated?
You know, people are detecting your Cincinnati love, okay?
It's obvious.
There's Joe Burrow fascination.
I know he's been good.
You're putting him in the.
Holmes category already?
No, I said.
He's very special.
He doesn't have Andy Reid as a coach.
He doesn't have Travis Kelsey.
He does have the worst coach of any good quarterback.
Well, I don't know.
I don't want to say that.
I think Zach Taylor's a bright guy.
I don't know.
I don't know how great he is.
He got to do a Super Bowl.
You can't be a dud and get a team to a Super Bowl.
All right, let's move on.
Golden State Warriors in the NBA.
Snap that losing streak last night.
They were down like 17 to the Kings.
Jordan Pool just sat and watched.
Curry.
Let's not take jabs at Jordan Pool.
He's a nice guy.
But a gentleman by the name of Steph Curry.
Oh, my God.
I like the nickname from Shannon Sharpe, Stefan F. and Curry.
47 points, eight rebounds, eight assists.
And, oh, by the way, zero turnover.
He's had a great year.
He's unbelievable.
I know the Warriors are sputtering.
He has not been the problem.
Oh, no, he's been great.
We both know the problem is this, you know, they're working in the young guys.
Cumminga.
Cummina's not playing much.
By the way, Jordan Pool last night got nothing.
What happened to Moses Moody?
I thought he was going to get minutes.
Well, they're down 17.
We're not playing these guys.
So the interesting thing is,
Kirk came out.
We're going to put Cominga in the rotation.
I don't know if you saw that.
They tried that last night.
Had that workout.
And instantly, it's all right.
We need Curry.
Andrew Wiggins had a good game.
Colin,
are they a sneaky Anthony Davis team?
Is there a way that the Warriors said,
we've seen enough of Wiseman and company.
We need a veteran.
We want to go back to back.
I think there is.
do. I do think there is.
Lakers would save a lot of money
getting Anthony Davis off the books. Well, and the Lakers
need young athletes. Give us Moses
Moody. You're going to have to find a contract
Pratt, Draymond. You need some cap filler.
Give me Wiseman, Moody,
Draymon, and two draft picks.
You think they're giving up Draymond?
Well, I'm just saying you're not going to give up Wiggins or
stout. How tick would Draymond be?
You go from the penthouse to the outhouse.
Well, I don't know. I'm just saying if you want to make that deal,
I'm not saying I would make the deal.
I'm saying if you want to.
Salaries have to match you.
You can do Clay Thompson, but he and Steph are like...
You know, his dad played for the Lakers.
Michael Thompson.
I know very well.
Clay, Lakers, Clay Thompson would be great with LeBron.
LeBron would love him.
I think that's not a...
It's really interesting.
Clay Weissman in a couple picks.
Boy, Anthony Davis.
Clay Wiseman Kaminga in a couple, in a pick.
Warriors fans are yelling at their radio slash TV writer.
Are you kidding me, coward!
All right.
with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Herd Lye News.
I want to talk more, Derek Carr.
I've got a theory on this.
Be sure to catch live editions of the Herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox

It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam J.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 was big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode
where we've discussed crack, so I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now, so...
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
Yes, I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years.
from black people in American history.

So listen, Pete Carroll and the Seahawks are feeling pretty good about it. They got dumped on for a couple of years.
for the Russell Wilson stuff.
And myself included thought Russell wasn't being helped by their defense and lousy draft
picks.
I still think that's true.
The defense got really bad last four or five years.
But Pete took another kind of jab at Russell Wilson after they had another victory.
He said, you know, Gino Smith's going off the wristband, big help, smooth things out,
sped things up, clean things up.
We never did that before.
There was a resistance to do that, so we didn't do it before.
They're feeling themselves.
I will say this, though, is that the NFL is a copycat league.
So there's been mixed results on ditching a star quarterback.
Detroit traded Stafford.
They're not the same team.
New England lost Brady.
They're not the same team.
Atlanta moved off Matt Ryan.
They were bad last several years.
They're not great now.
And Seattle moved off Russell Wilson, got a boatload of picks, and they're way better.
It's a copycat league.
Generally speaking, don't move.
off a star quarterback.
But again, Seattle did.
Say what you want about Russ.
He's a star quarterback.
And they're better today and perhaps better for it long term.
This is where Derek Carr gets really interesting.
Because we got, if you look around this league right now, I can name the teams.
I wrote them down today.
Commanders, Texans, Lions, Carolina, Saints, Colts, Jets.
Maybe the Giants, presumably not.
I think they're going to keep Daniel Jones.
wouldn't long term, but I think all the things they're saying they will.
You don't think they're better with Derek Carr?
Remember, the Raiders are currently picking third.
What do they need?
Draft picks to get a better defense.
Right?
And also it's Vegas.
It's a new team.
They've had Derek for years and years.
He's increasingly frustrated, as J. Mack told you 10 minutes ago, he's got some veiled
shots at people inside the organization, massive chaos.
Six coaches, nine years.
And there's a market for Derek Carr.
What would the Jets do for Derek Carr?
I mean, Robert Sala's not going to go into year three with Zach Wilson if they continue to manage around him.
It's a great win.
But defense won that game against Buffalo, right?
Suss.
Gardner, the pass rush, creating turnovers.
So I think this is one of these.
I mean, look at the Saints.
They're a mess at quarterback.
Hill, James Winston, Dalton, they're a mess.
And it's a good roster.
How much better would they be with Derek Carr?
You don't think they'd give up picks?
So I think that the Derek Carr thing, when he comes out this weekend, just like J. Mack said,
and he kind of, he starts talking, there's a reason he's saying that.
He wants that to be upstairs.
He wants the owner to hear that.
And I want to pivot to another story.
So, you know, Jalen Ramsey was ripping the defense.
for the Rams after their loss.
I thought it was very interesting that Sean McVeigh last week, a story came out
that Sean McVey was going to retire.
He's 36 years old, I think.
He was going to retire when like Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, Matt Stafford, Cooper Cup,
when they were done.
Well, three or four of those guys could be done in four or five years.
Why would Sean McVeigh say that?
It's the same thing.
I think Sean McVeigh wants Stan Cronkey to know, hey, I'm the one that takes the hit here
because I can't beat Kyle Shanahan.
Well, hell, look at that roster.
The Niners have a pro bowler in every unit.
I've got aging stars.
Good stars.
Love them.
But whenever I hear a coach or a quarterback and stories leak, they're trying to get that
upstairs.
And this is not a shot.
But the NFL, it's really interesting.
The Rams win the Super Bowl.
They couldn't keep Von Miller, right?
They lose that player.
Andrew Whitworth retires, and then they make a move on Alan Robinson and it appears to be kind of a bust.
It is amazing how fast in this league.
One bad signing, one guy retires, one guy a star leaves.
You're not the same football team.
So the Rams have, and Jalen Ramsey, who's always been outstead.
spoken, he called out the defense, he called out the offense for not being able to pick up a
first down and keep Tom Brady off the field.
There are some dogs who are going to go get it.
You're like, we shouldn't come to the sideline after a big stop like that and our coaches
or the other side or whoever telling us, man, we're going to need you out one more time.
We're going to need you out one more time.
Like, what the fuck?
We just, we made a big stop.
Turn over on downs with a minute and some change left.
And no time else for nobody.
So again, Derek Carr coming out.
There's things that need to be talked about.
He's sending that message upstairs.
Sean McVeigh.
By the way, Sean McVeigh had a bite.
After that loss, things have to change.
You know, these are messages.
Now, what does it say?
It tells me Sean McVeigh probably wants OBJ.
Sean McVeigh Sunday.
This sounds like I'm not.
happy with Tutu Atwell bust. I'm not happy with Alan Robinson. I want OBJ. Here's Sean after that loss.
Changes have to be made. Adjustments have to be made. We can't continue to go on like this.
And, you know, what that looks like, I don't necessarily have the exact answers right now.
I'm a big part of this. I have to do better. We're going to stay connected throughout this,
but we do have to be able to look inward and figure out what are some of the solutions, changes,
adjustments, different things that we have to do to be able to get different results and different
production from our offense.
And I think this really comes down to Derek Carr, anytime the Raiders lose.
Who takes the hit?
Derek Carr.
And Derek's sitting there thinking, wait, timeout.
I'm the life preserver for this franchise.
Who takes a hit every time the Rams lose?
Oh, what about Boy Genius?
McVeigh.
McVeys like, time out.
Look at that Seahawk draft.
Look at that Niner roster.
Why am I taking the hit for this stuff?
So I, you know, and I, by the way, Sean's right.
That Niners roster, it's sick.
I mean, they got pro-bo-level players.
Corner, safety, linebacker, rush end, tight end, offensive line, wide receiver,
now McCaffrey.
So message being sent by McVeigh and Derek Carr.
Oh, he has a very little
track.
Are you ready to this?
Very little dead cap money next year.
Yeah, I didn't know that.
Potential out after 2020.
So next offseason,
5.6 and dead cap.
That's it.
They could just dump him and say,
Derek, go play wherever you want.
And the Raiders,
Raiders need,
they're not going to fire Josh McDaniel.
But can they get,
right now they'd pick third.
They get three or four draft picks.
Now with a new GM,
not the other GM,
I'm a new GM.
Josh McDaniels is probably still calling the shots there, right?
I mean...
He's a powerful...
I think it's a better working relationship than Gruden and Mayock.
That would be my guess, because they're two New England guys.
So they've been friends for a long...
And by the way, they're in this puppy together.
Like Gruden had the power.
Mayock didn't.
These guys are in it together.
There's talent on this team.
Oh, it's mostly offense.
How about the Chandler Jones?
They picked him up half a sack this entire season.
What a bust.
It's been awful.
That's on the GM. That's not going to be on Josh McDaniels.
That's very exciting.
I love this off-season speculation stuff.
So good.
So fun.
Ten years ago in the NFL, people just didn't make all these young GMs.
It's like the NBA, but like on steroids.
Hour 3 coming up next.
