This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's
superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Here we go, hour two. We've got a great next 30 minutes. Live in Los Angeles, it's the
herd wherever you may be, however you may be listening, IHeart Radio, Fox Sports
Radio, FS1. All right, a couple of minutes. Heard hierarchy. Then we go to Lane Johnson,
who has not allowed a sack this year, the dominant tackle.
for the Philadelphia Eagles who are playing out of their mind.
You know, when you go into these big, you know, Cowboys Giants games or Packer Bear games,
we both like Dallas yesterday.
We both like Green Bay over Chicago.
Although I would say that New York right now has got at least a little bit of a pulse offensively.
The Bears don't.
And also the Giants have an offensive coach.
So I think they'll get the most out.
I mean, Kenny Gullady is stealing money.
Offensive line outside of left tackle for the Giants of Mass.
They just, this is a real.
rebuilding job and have the seven boxes you need to check in the NFL to win.
Left tackle for the Giants is excellent.
Head coach is an I think.
And then, I mean, Seyquan Barclay is not a box.
You don't need a great running back.
I think he plays well, but that's not a box you have to have.
By the way, did you notice primetime unders, eight and two this season?
All the primetime games are super low scoring.
Okay.
Almost bordering on boring.
Okay.
Daniel Jones, what is he in prime time?
Terrible.
0 and 9.
Okay, so say what you want.
Burrow in big TV games has been a step-up guy.
It's fair.
Cousins and Daniel Jones, the bright lights, shrink.
We've talked about this all the time.
Some guys are uptight, they're anxious, the shoulders are always tight,
Kirk Cousin shrinks in big spots, and I like him.
And I think Daniel Jones has something, but if you're 0 and 9 in the big games,
by the way, the Giants are also better on the road.
Yeah.
That tells you Daniel Jones doesn't like playing at home.
You know who likes playing at home?
Brady, Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jalen Hertz, Lamar Jackson.
Yeah.
When you don't like playing at home, what does that tell you?
If you like the road games, better than the home games?
Probably not built for it.
I don't know if he's built for it.
Yeah.
All right, here we go, the herd hierarchy.
Let's roll.
Heard hierarchy.
Time is now.
Let's go.
The top 10 NFL teams, according to college.
Number 10.
All right, don't sell your Minnesota Vikings stock.
They have the Saints and the Bears coming up.
They're going to get really, really healthy.
Their only loss came on the road to the Eagles,
and a lot of people think the Eagles are the best team in the league.
Now, their defense is an issue.
They hired an offensive coach.
They have regressed defensively.
They're giving up like 415 yards a game.
Don't sell all your stock here.
They're going to get healthy.
Schedule lightens up.
They did thump the Packers, Vikings at 10.
Number nine.
The Rams, I have them lower than everybody else.
I think they're sloppy.
I think they are missing their center, downgrade at left tackle.
Camakers fumbled again at the goal line.
Is Alan Robinson washed?
He can't get open.
Van Jefferson's out for another month and a half.
Now, Matthew Stafford has a lot of picks, but he also leads the NFL, completing 72% of his throw.
So Stafford gives you, you get the penthouse and the outhouse.
It's the classic.
You get great and you get some trouble.
But they're giving the ball away this year.
Seven giveaways through three games.
They're too sloppy.
I think their head coach and culture is winning games right now.
They're not right.
The fact they're in the top 10, and I think they've got a million questions,
speaks to how good McVe and the overall culture of the organization is.
I have them nine.
Number eight.
An inch behind the bucks.
Bucks are going to be really good.
They're just not healthy.
Here's saying no, the bucks are good.
Number one scoring defense in the NFL and the most takeaways in the NFL.
So the side that Brady doesn't play for.
is nails.
They're going to be really good,
top three, four team in the league.
They're just not healthy.
I took them this week,
and then I found out Mike Evans and Julio Jones
could also not play.
If they were healthy,
they would have beaten the Packers.
They were missing Evans-Gidwin,
Julio Jones.
Come on.
You can't take away the three best receivers
for a team and ask them to beat
a competent quarterback,
a competent team like Green Bay.
Bucks are fine.
Number seven.
But I like the Niners roster more.
The Niners' offense is
the only had two, three and outs all year, the whole season.
With Tray Lantin Garapolo, how good is their personnel?
Only two, three and outs all year.
Lowest percentage in the NFL.
Also, their defense, the only team in the league holding people under four yards of play.
They are stacked defensively, stacked at weapons.
Do not love their offensive line and Trent Williams is out.
I would put them like three, but right now their offensive line is in flux.
but they do have the Panthers and the Falcons coming up after the Rams.
And I like their chances against the Rams.
This is a really Buffalo-level roster.
Seven for the Niners.
Number six.
Bingles got right.
We predicted it.
They're fine.
They've run more offensive plays than anybody in the league.
Their top 10 in scoring defense.
Joe Burrell last two games, no picks, four touchdowns.
Now, they've got to run the ball better.
and they're still making too many mistakes.
But again, we're going to know a lot about this team in the next two weeks
because they host the weary, the tired dolphins this week, then it's the Ravens.
So maybe I'm a little high on them, but I watch the second half against the Cowboys,
and I watch the Jets game, and they feel right to me.
Weapons, quarterback, tackles, pass rush, they feel right to me.
Number five.
I'll give the Dolphins credit.
Only remaining undefeated A.S.
F-C team. Here's the thing about Tua. Last 12 games,
dolphins are 11 and 1. They're winning games.
What do I always say? You've got to be productive as a quarterback. I don't care what it looks
like and he got to win games. Now, they're going to Cincinnati short week. I think they're
in trouble. But I've got to be honest, first three games, two is passer ratings. He's the only
guy over 100. He's doing the breeze thing and he's got great weapons. So I don't think
Miami is a championship team, but I picked him to make the playoffs.
This looks like a playoff team to me.
Number four.
I still think the Ravens are really, really good.
I thought they outplayed Miami.
Their defense is struggling.
But a lot of that is on the back end, they got kids.
But they have the number one scoring offense in the league.
They have 12 offensive touchdowns.
They're the opposite of the New York Giants.
They get into the end zone.
The Ravens get into the end zone.
Also, who leads the NFL and passer rating?
their quarterback Lamar.
So they're scuffing on the back end of their defense.
That's why I can't make them a top three team.
This is a really explosive team.
They don't settle for field goals, folks.
They get in the red zone.
They give you seven.
In the end, that's what I say about Daniel Jones.
You got to give me a point.
You got to give me touchdowns.
They give them to you.
Number three.
Kansas City.
Most of that loss to the Colts was special teams.
It was a disaster.
They muffed a punt.
They missed an extra point.
They had a fake field goal not work.
They missed a 34-yard field goal.
That's why they lost the game.
They had a bad special team Sunday.
But they have 10 offensive touchdowns.
Only the Ravens and the Lions have more.
They have the best sack differential.
So they're getting to the other quarterback.
They're fine.
They're fine.
They had a really bad special team Sunday and it happens.
Number two.
Philadelphia.
Number one total offense.
They're converting almost 49% of their third downs.
Jalen Hertz is hard to defend.
They move the sticks.
They pick up first downs, keeping your quarterback off the field.
Here's the other thing I like.
Jalen Hertz leads the NFL passing yards per attempt.
So don't tell me he's thrown underneath and playing it safe.
He is throwing it down the field, yards per attempt, and yards per completion.
The Eagles lead.
This is a big play offense.
They're like a little bit like Cincinnati last year.
They're taking big swings downfield.
And that's for a quarterback that we thought,
accuracy issues.
It's not an issue.
They are a big play offense.
O-lines playing great.
D-Lines getting that.
They may have the best combination of O-Line, D-Line, and the NFL.
Number one.
Buffalo.
Listen, they've won 20 of their last 28 games by blowouts.
They're the Mike Tyson.
Don't have much of a jab, but if you're not prepared,
it's over in the second round.
They've gained 77 first downs.
They have the best point differential.
They have the best passing offense.
I don't love their offensive line, and they are too Josh Allen-centric.
But my eyes tell me that's the best-looking roster in the league with an unbelievable quarterback.
And the other thing is, they're so beat up defensively.
They were missing three starters in the secondary.
In the Miami heat?
so you had more, you had less talented guys playing more snaps.
And then they were missing two or three starters on the defensive line.
So they were so thin going to Miami.
When you go to Miami in September, you're not facing the dolphins.
You're facing the heat and the dolphins.
So I think Buffalo's still number one.
Speaking of number one, Lane Johnson, 10 years in the league, a third of me has been a pro bowler,
has not allowed a sack on a snap this year.
In fact, he hasn't allowed a sack since week of 11.
of 2020.
And we love him.
Lane Johnson, joining us.
A man, oh, live.
What a team you have.
So, I mean, we've been saying this now for about six,
go back to last year,
is that I'm tired of hearing people criticize Jalen Hertz.
Dude's productive.
Dude moves the sticks, the offensive line.
Was there a moment for you, Lane,
because he's a young quarterback and he's ascending?
Was there a moment in his growth lane that you went,
you turn to the guys and you're like, we got the guy.
Like, this is going to work.
I just think last year with how we responded, you know,
after not having a great start, I feel like we were resilient.
And I feel like really this all season we made a big leap.
I feel like everybody.
But Jaylon really, I mean, has always worked.
He's always had that approach.
And I feel like just the pieces that we've added.
It's just helped him in his transition.
And obviously, nothing can really take place for experience.
And the more reps that he's getting the,
the more he's you're going to exceed.
And, you know, I feel like just the guys that we have to help the quarterback, you know,
are making an unbelievable place, too.
You know, Lane, he is a mobile quarterback.
So as a dominant offensive lineman like you, you're a top five tackle in the game,
as a dominant offensive lineman, do you like, would you rather have the classic pocket guy
and always know what's behind you?
Or do you like the fact that you, three seconds into this,
thing, you may be off and running downfield.
Like, how is it for you to have Jaylen as a quarterback?
I love it.
I think the more dynamic you can be, the better you can present a problem to the defense.
So having him back there, you know, even with our zone reach stuff and having to account
for him, it changes the perception of the defense, you know, changes sometimes the
rush playing the defensive line.
You know, sometimes these guys don't want to break in Tain and run the hump.
I feel like the States when we played them last year.
So everybody has a different way of attacking him.
But for me, it's exciting, especially whatever, you know, something may break down
and he can scamper and make a first down or make plays with his legs.
I think they just makes their offense so much more dynamic and versatile.
You know, I have to admit when I'm wrong, I do a segment every week called Colin Wright,
Colin Wrong.
So when I'm wrong, I just say, I whiffed.
I watched Nick Seriani's opening press conference, and I said, oh, good hell,
he's not ready for this room.
This is all alpha males in that room.
He's nervous.
Well, whatever's happening, it is working.
So you're in the room.
What is his coaching style?
He's a great communicator.
And so even with stuff that happens in the media, like he even said,
hey, my first impression in Philly wasn't good.
Hey, let's go learn from the tape.
So, you know, he'll make fun of himself.
He'll critique himself.
And then, you know, usually when it comes to practice,
everything is very serious.
So, you know, we have a win-loss rate.
You know, who won the day, offense versus defense.
When we have team meetings, you go in the room, and, you know, you have to be accountable in each play.
So we'll go through each clip.
You'll have, you know, who had an error on this play.
So it's out there for everybody to see.
But what I think it does is it makes everybody accountable.
And I think it's such a good example just for the whole room.
But I think what makes him exceptional is just him and the coaching staff, we just have great communicators.
So anything there may be problems with gets addressed early and often,
and that's like that every day.
So I feel like for a team that's really beneficial for us.
You know, it's interesting.
You a lot of times in the NFL, you don't go against the ones a lot,
but you do occasionally.
And because Jalen Hertz is so dynamic,
nobody's talking about your defense.
And Carson Wentz was under duress every snap.
So when you go against your ones defensively,
you're better than I thought you would be.
What's the secret sauce on that side?
You just, I mean, we have a great D-line.
I mean, you look at Fletcher Cox, you look at Jvonne Hargrave, you know, Jordan Davis,
a sign, Josh Sweat, you know, whatever, you know, with Jordan Davis, if he can eat
up the center, maybe a guard, you're going to isolate John Hargrave, you're going to isolate
Fletcher Cox.
These guys are going to have, you know, more one-on-one opportunities.
And this game's really all about matchups.
You're trying to get, you know, your talent on their talent.
And I feel like our D-Lines really made a big step these past two weeks,
really had an exceptional game this past week.
I feel, you know, as far as the O-line, I feel like we can be a complete,
need to be more complete unit there in the second half.
I feel like, you know, the first half has kind of been, we've been more dominant
and not played as well in the second half.
So that's something that, you know, we've got to focus on.
And, you know, when you play really good teams, you know, every possession counts.
not allowed a sack since 2020, Lane Johnson, who's going to get Hall of Fame votes. He's
10 years in and he's got years left. You know, it's, you have played for one of the great
fan bases, Oklahoma, and now for Philadelphia. I mean, rabid, crazy. And listen, it wasn't a
great week for Oklahoma. I'm not going to rub it in. Not going to do that. I'm above that. I'm above
that, Lane. But Philadelphia, like Oklahoma, they're crazy.
This is kind of a weird question, but when you're an offensive lineman, I understand like receivers, they're always looking up at the crowd.
But does an offensive lineman feed off a crowd?
I mean, are you into that as much as a star receiver?
Yeah.
Because a receiver or a corner is off by themselves, and when they make a play, the whole world sees it.
You're kind of in that mush in the middle.
Do you feed off crowds?
Definitely.
You know, especially like when a receiver makes a play.
big time play. You know, it's me sitting back when the ball's in the air after my block and he
catched it. There's not a better feeling knowing that I get the exit of the drive and catch the
air and, you know, there's a shorter drive for me. And then, you know, the running back scoring is like
a tip of the hat to the old line. But no, I mean, when it comes down to it, it's all about the fans.
And whenever, you know, there's a good day at the link, whenever we're rocking and rolling,
there's really nothing that takes place for. So, yeah, I mean, I mean, that's what keeps you
coming back. I love the energy of the fans and electricity. And it's really hard to, you know,
get that anywhere else. All right, Lane. Congratulations. You always make time for us. We love you for it.
And I appreciate it again, man. Congratulations. This team is absolutely for real. Congratulations.
Thank you. You bet. And I did, do you see that I did not bring up the Oklahoma thing?
I just, just moved very, very kind of me.
I just got a text, Colin.
When the Packers are six and one, will they be in Collins' hired hierarchy?
Okay, okay.
So I have the Jags 11 Packers 12.
You cannot score one touchdown in three games in the second half in a weapons league
and make the top 10.
A lot of people are tweeting at me that the Bengals went from 0 and 2 to beating my sad sack jets
and went from unranked to the six spot.
Okay, but that's different.
They proved last year my takeaway with them was,
So let's look at it again.
Yeah.
So let me, for instance, explain the Bengals.
Now, everybody's saying, well, Burrow is on your podcast.
No.
So they check all the boxes.
Quarterback, offensive coach, unbelievable weapons, unbelievable pass rush.
So they check like most boxes.
So Burrow has appendectomy surgery.
Yes.
Does not practice or play in the preseason.
And you could see the first game.
They were off.
And they faced the Steelers and T.J. Watt.
second half because I know I've seen them at their best.
I've seen Green Bay last year lose a home playoff game
and for the last two years Green Bay has not had the ceiling.
They don't beat good teams.
I saw Cincinnati go to Tennessee and win, beat Kansas City.
I've seen the ceiling with Cincinnati.
And so contextually, I'm like, they're going to be fine.
They've got to get it right.
Second half against Dallas, the team that won last night,
I was like they got it right.
And then they went out this weekend and you watch.
Watched them.
Yeah.
But they're hard to stop.
So you can go from out of it to into it.
Now, also, they made a playoff run.
Green Bay, in crisis, big spots last two years,
has not been a good football team.
By the way, Jaguars, they beat the Chargers.
We don't know anything about them in crisis.
I'd also say 49ers are teetering, right?
The Rams next, no Trent Williams.
That's going to be a problem for them big time.
Okay.
This is my second favorite roster in the league.
Yeah, they're good.
But, um...
Okay.
And with Traylant and...
And Garoppolo.
They've had two, three, and outs.
We need to start talking about Shanahan as a great, like, first quarter coach, right?
They come out of the gate strong and they, for some reason, second half, whether it's the Bears game, this past week against Denver, like Colin.
Well, there are limitations at quarterback.
I like Garoppel.
There are limitations to him.
Him or Kyle Shanahan.
Shanahan's fine.
Okay.
49ers fans are have some consternation right now about Kyle Shanahan.
people you know I find that the Niners are the most interesting team in the league I'm not saying best they're the most interesting okay there's a lot of teams in this league I mean New England's just not interesting Seattle's not that interesting
Carolina is not that interesting I don't talk back chargers are interesting right now
no well if they lose one more game they're not interesting um but it's like with San Francisco I find it so funny
that with great quarterbacks in this league, Burrough, Stafford, and Brady,
we understood that not practicing and playing affected their early playing.
Garoppolo, who's not nearly in that class, as I contextualized yesterday,
Garoppolo didn't even get a playbook and didn't even take snaps early in the season
because Trey Lance got all of them.
And you think going to Denver first game altitude, that pass rush, he's going to be great.
Of course, contextualize that.
this stuff.
Garapolo's not an excuse maker.
He's a guy's guy. He came out after the game and he said,
I haven't had a lot of snaps here.
It's really, really rough.
Nobody thinks
he's Burrow. Nobody thinks he's Brady
Stafford. But we understood it
with them because they've been so great.
They're more talented
than Garapolo.
So it may take Garoplo a week
or two longer because he's
not quite as gifted. But
look at the roster, look at the coach,
Look at the stats, two, three, and outs all year.
Yeah.
This is a real football team.
Packers, I have 11, 12 with the Jags.
Were the Jets, by the way?
I don't go past 25.
I have limitations.
25.
And they'll beat the Steelers out right this week.
So you think the Bengals and the Niners are a tad high?
I would have the Jags and the Packers in there, and I would have the Bengals and Niners out.
So the Packers have one second half touchdown.
You're good with that.
I'm not good with that, but buying their schedule.
I think they're going to be six and one here in a couple weeks.
Well, I'm not based on. I'm basing it off today.
Okay.
That Packers have not looked great.
Right now today, San Francisco plays Green Bay.
San Francisco is so much deeper.
How's this?
If you could buy stock in the 49ers for the full season today or the Packers today.
49ers, easily.
By the way, if the Bengals played the Packers,
Mixon, Burrough, Chase, Higgins, if the Bengals played the Packers today, Neutralfield, who wins?
Historically not a good matchup for Ler.
floor. It's just not been a good match.
Show me his wins against good teams. I got wins by Zach Taylor against good teams.
No, that's fair. Head to head. So if you think the, do I think the Jags would beat the Bengals or Niners?
No. Do I think the Packers would? No. Packers basically have 12 good plays to start on script.
Then Aaron doesn't trust anybody. By the way, I saw the Niners in Garoppolo play the Packers.
It was called Lambo in the playoffs. They couldn't move the ball. In the second half, once they were off script.
This is impenetrable.
This shield.
The herd hierarchy, my new favorite segment.
It's not like I don't think about this.
I'm not just sitting there winging it.
It's not, you know, I'm not rolling dice in a cup here, folks.
One more herd?

podcast. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tapped Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look

just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get

All right.
Final tune-up game for the United States men's national team.
It's a final tune-up.
We're going to FS2 at 1030 right now.
So it's against Saudi Arabia.
Our guys, final tune-up.
Pour the World Cup and guitar.
I'll mess around.
Got to tighten things up.
Big game.
Just lost to Japan.
Okay.
We can't lose to Saudi Arabia here.
Ugly.
Yeah.
It's a big one.
J-MAC with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd-like news.
All right, we touched on this earlier, Colin.
Dak Prescott confirmed he had the stitches removed from his surgically repaired thumb
before the Cowboys game against Giants.
He was actually throwing during warm-ups last night.
He said he's not ruling out the possibility of returning against the commanders
and that Sharman soft defense.
I personally do not think this is a good idea.
Colin, should Dak Prescott give it a go against Washington at home this week?
No. No, I think this is the classic Teddy Bridgewater Cooper Rush. Backups winning. Not a great team.
It's a must win for Washington. By the way, I like Ron Rivera.
Defensive coach has never sensed the urgency of quarterback. Finally comes in late on Carson Wentz.
There's way too much talent in this Washington offense to look like that.
You're not getting rid of Wents in one year, are you?
They're always like, what, 20 maybe quarterbacks in the league that are starters and the other guys just play musical chairs going around other teams.
Carson Wentz is not working, but Washington's offensive line gave up nine sacks to the Eagles.
Now you got Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence.
These guys are, I think they lead the league in sacks, the Cowboys.
I think they have their way with Washington.
You could win with defensive Cooper Rush.
Why four stack back out there quickly?
It just doesn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense.
Next up, Colin.
Ah, Bill's offensive coordinator, Ken Dorsey, had that meltdown in the booth.
Huge talking point.
We talked about it yesterday on the show.
He did not hide his anger after the loss of the dolphins,
said he hopes to learn from the moment and move forward.
It was a playoff atmosphere.
A lot of credit to the Miami Dolphins.
And obviously, we weren't on the winning end of it,
so it's frustrating and, you know, reacted that way.
And obviously, that's something that I'm definitely going to learn from.
And, you know, I don't ever want to take the passion out of the game.
We're all in this on this to win football games for, obviously, for the bills, for our fans.
And we're going to give them everything we got.
But it's something I'm going to learn from and make sure, you know, it's a correct move forward.
Listen, a lot of people were freaking out.
I think they liked it, right? People enjoyed it.
people in the media were like, whoa, and my thing is media, when you put these cameras and microphones in those coaching spaces.
By the way, you see the other guys not going crazy because they've all done it before.
Look at the guy with the headset, the bald guy. He just looks over at him like, dude, are you okay?
We lost football games before. Like, settled down.
But this is not baseball where you got another three-game series coming up.
This is why America loves football. The games matter. Every stinking one of them.
matter. Bills play
at Baltimore this week. They're going to
watch Buffalo play.
I think they could be down as
many as six starters. Well, I don't like
that. Yeah, we've got to see what's up with the practice
reports and the injuries. But by the way, John
Harbaugh, underdog at home, that's a rarity.
I'll have some information on that
later in the week. All right, Colin,
final story. Zion Williamson.
You know, you joked earlier
about how everybody's skinny now coming off
the offseason in the NBA. Look at Zion.
Looking so thin there.
Team. Played really well last year.
He pushed the Phoenix Suns.
So he's recovered from the broken foot, missed the entire season, got his contract, all smiles.
Zion talked about how good it feels to be back.
My focus over the summer was to just get back to playing, playing in shape, playing conditioning,
and just honing my craft as usual.
I feel like I'm in my best right now.
I feel like I'm moving faster, jumping higher.
I just, I feel great.
That's a long time without playing the game.
But my excitement level is through the roof.
I'm just ready to get back on the court.
Dude, look at those arms.
It looks like he's chiseled out of granite.
He's so cut up.
I need that workout, Redmond.
They have a good culture going right now.
They have an interesting team.
It's not a great NBA city, but I think they,
I think they're in a good space.
Yeah.
Now, you just mentioned every NFL game matters.
NBA has 82 games.
It's probably too many.
That being said, Zion's probably one of the 10 guys when he's coming here to Staples.
You're probably trying to get a seat front row for that one.
That's a good show that he puts on.
Yeah, no, I mean, it's scarcity is absolutely college and pro football's biggest advantage.
There's just not many games, so you have to go watch.
But I will say that the NBA has always been a good story league.
Oh, yeah.
We talk about the stories more than we watch the games.
The numbers show that around America.
Yeah.
And Zion's a good story.
He's fun, captivating.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.

Yep, that's right. Plexico Burris.
You can only name a show with that type of talent on it.
Up on Game.

Some call it grotesque.

Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,

Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.

Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people.
I know what you're thinking.
What the hell does George Bush got to do a little Kim?
Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
I'm Sam Jek.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about cracking the A&E,
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you for finishing that sentence.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

We all have different ideas about success, achieve it at different times,
130 years Midwest-based, Steefel Financial Advisors, check them out, STI-FEL.
So, you know, pro athletes say they don't hear, but they hear.
Their agents hear stuff, their support group here stuff, their friends hear stuff,
and they send it to them.
And I think when you're an athlete, maybe in a lot of positions, you don't like criticism,
but it does spurn you on.
It's jet fuel for the willful and ambitious.
And Pete Carroll's driven and Russell Wilson's driven.
So after that opening game, Denver at Seattle,
the homecoming for Russell Wilson,
that was really big for Russ.
That was really big for Pete Carroll.
And after they beat him, remember the Denver offense couldn't move,
get into the end zone, Pete Carroll talking about facing Russell Wilson.
He had this comment.
Listen carefully.
We really were.
focused in on Russ's
play with our pass rush
and that's really the way to play him.
You can move him and you can make him go.
I think he moved 10 times and he completed
two passes on the times we moved him out of the pocket
and moved him around like we were
trying to. He moves to his left. It's
hard for him, you know, in numbers wise.
When he moved to his left,
it is hard for him.
Okay. So
Russell Wilson heard that. And then Russell this
week moved to his left and was
pretty accurate on that final drive against the Niners.
And Russell Wilson just had to slip this in.
Really in the fourth court, I had to kind of use my legs and kind of take over
and just try to move around and find some first downs.
And then, you know, Kendall hitting, you know, making that big play.
I went left.
I guess I can still go left.
But I went left and, you know, hit Kendall on that.
That was a big play by him.
So petty.
First of all, most right-handed quarterbacks who move left,
or to a moving right?
Like, you're not as effective.
But what comes from that is something we all like.
Gossip and rumors confirmed.
When Peyton left the Colts, you didn't get the chippiness.
Actually, Brady and Belichick.
Matt Ryan and Atlanta.
There were no chippiness because there were no rumors.
Belichick was telling everybody,
Brady's really overrated.
And there was no rumors that Tom Brady thought Belichick got way too much of the credit.
Brady just wanted more good weapons in a weapons pivoting league.
But we heard four, two years, actually three, that Pete thought Russell Wilson was running out of design plays and was a tad overrated.
And Russell Wilson felt for two or three years that Pete was outdated and couldn't figure out the offense and the concepts were to 1970, 84.
football. The Seahawk fans didn't want to hear it. You media guys making stuff up. It's just gossip.
Now, there's a difference between gossip and rumors and sourcing. And my sourcing was for multiple
years and everybody else's sources, who I respect that cover the league, were that Russell felt
Pete was a defensive coach getting up there and run first down, run second down. Hey, Russ, go save us.
and Pete felt like, you know, Russell's a little small,
starting to feel like, you know, he's the guy,
and I think we can upgrade here.
By the way, they tried to upgrade to Josh Allen, went to his pro day.
They also had a move ready to make that Cleveland wouldn't move on,
which is we'll give you Russ for the number one pick 2018.
So all this stuff, all the little barbs are confirming not just my sources,
but they're confirming the rumors and the gossip.
And that doesn't make it always right.
But in most instances,
if multiple respected reporters all over the league,
you're telling you, yeah, this thing ain't pretty.
It's not pretty.
So speaking of something that won't be pretty,
the Lakers had Media Day yesterday.
And I thought it was kind of funny.
So I talked about this last week,
whether it's the NFL or
NBA, when you have
a star, Steph Curry,
Tim Duncan
in his prime,
Tom Brady,
when you have a star in a locker room,
it creates clarity.
Hey, Steph Curry works harder than everybody.
Duncan's working harder.
Brady's working harder.
All the good players know their
place in the pecking order.
But when you don't
have a star among a group,
Westbrook is out of his prime.
Patrick Beverly, out of his prime.
Dennis Schrooter, not sure he had a prime, but he's not a star.
So right now, they're well compensated, but Patrick Beverly's not a star.
Westbrook's not a star anymore.
He's not.
I'm sorry.
It's more named than, you know, viable production.
And you have three guys, none of star.
So that means no clarity.
They all think they're the guy privately.
Westbrook still looks at Patrick Beverly and says, you know, as he once said, he fools everybody.
He talks a lot and moves a lot.
He doesn't do anything.
And Schrooter can't stay anywhere because he's not productive enough and he's reportedly difficult.
So the Lakers are going to have, it's not going to work.
Here's my prediction.
Beverly, Schrooter, and Westbrook, because there's no real star here.
If you put Steph Curry, if you added a fourth guard and it was Steph Curry, it would be fine.
Because Steph be like, fellas, shh.
my team. That's what Brady could always say. That's why you could bring in a Randy Moss and it would
work is Tom's team. Randy's great. It's Tom's team. So when you don't have a star and all the
personalities, Westbrook can be rigid. Beverly can be stubborn. Shruder can be rigid. And they all
have a strong point of view. And they all think right now they're better than they probably are.
I mean, I like Patrick Beverly as a three and D guy. Shrewder, I think, is talented. Westbrook can be very, very
productive. They all have assets, but they're all kind of either never had a prime, out of their prime,
think they're greater than they are. It's going to be a toxic mess eventually. But Beverly is saying
what you would want to say right now. I've been here, I don't know, three weeks, three weeks and a half,
maybe four, and I'm just guessing. I don't know if I had to pick a best friend, best friend out of a team,
you know, you usually have, though, that it'd be him. And obviously, I'm not saying it because you guys are
right here. It's been the truth. He's, you know, he was at my press conference. You know, we, we, we, we, we,
We hit the waist together.
And I mean, not like team weight stuff.
Like, you know, we're in the lab 6.30 in the morning together.
You know, and this was this was a month ago.
I don't doubt any of that.
Westbrook gets along with everybody until they play together.
You know, he and Hardin were best friends, great buddies.
He and Katie got along.
And then they started not getting along.
And last year, LeBron liked him.
So I'm not blaming this all on Westbrook.
But it's interesting.
Westbrook, Beverly, and Shurray.
intruder all have something in common. Strong sense of self can be kind of rigid in the way they
play. All can be outspoken, at least privately. Westbrook and Patrick Beverly, privately maybe,
and publicly, it's not going to work. Because when you don't have an elite star and they all kind of
think they're it and they all think they're a tad better than they currently are, Westbrook's got talent,
but he just does not play well with others.
He can't play off the ball.
Schrooter can but doesn't want to.
Beverly does accepts it.
I mean, of all three of them,
Beverly, to me, is really the most, at this point, the most useful.
He can defend the wing and he can hit a three.
I'm good with that.
I'm not playing Patrick Beverly 39 minutes, but I'm good with that.
But it is such an obviously combustible situation.
And there are, listen, Jay Mack, we've all had friends like this.
There are people that are a good hang until you have to hang out with them a lot.
We've all got the Vegas buddy.
He's good for two days and a night.
A couple of golf, you go out gambling, you party, you drink, dinner.
You wake up the next day you golf.
And by the second night, you're like over him.
He talks too much.
He's obnoxious.
He drinks too much.
We've all got those friends.
They're just short stint friends.
Yeah.
That's Westbrook.
People love working out with him.
People like him.
He's a good.
But you go on a six-day road trip and like he doesn't pass you the ball and his usage rate is like double what it should be.
He wears you out.
And Patrick Beverly, by the way.
In short stints, Beverly can be great.
But he wears you out over time.
Seven game road trip, you are so over Patrick Beverly.
Hasn't Russell Westbrook been on?
on like four different teams in the last five years.
Some insane number like they just bounced around because he's a tough fit.
Some people like Steph Curry wears well, right?
Steph Curry and the Warriors, Clay Thompson's another guy.
Clay doesn't talk a lot.
He's like, there for you.
Clay Thompson wears well.
He'll play for the Warriors and then close shop and nobody ever got tired of him.
You always wanted more Clay than was available Clay.
Like he's that kind of personality.
And people forget this.
In the NBA, it's not like baseball.
A third of the team is in the bullpen, and they're really like disassociated from the team.
Yeah.
In football, offense goes left, defense goes right.
In the NBA, you're all together all the time on that bench, sitting there, same discussions, same huddle.
So like one guy that's needy or high maintenance blows it up.
Does it feel like the system in Golden State is perfect?
It's more about the system, working in space, creating space.
Well, Steph makes it all work because he's not high maintenance.
You could put seven, eight stars in that thing, and they would blow it up.
But you can't put Russ in a system because he wants to be the system.
Mr. Triple Double.
I'm going to rebound.
I'm going to pass.
I'm going to score.
I don't want to set screens.
I can't shoot from the corners.
I just want to do this, that, and the other.
But that doesn't really work.
Yeah.
I still don't know why LeBron recruited him to L.A.
That's really a great puzzle.
Well, again, people get fooled.
I mean, you hang out with a guy in short stints.
Like LeBron practices at UCLA with Westbrook for years.
He sees him.
on a roadie.
He sees him in a fashion show.
He sees him.
He works out with him.
So LeBron, in short stints with Westbrook is like, this guy's great.
And Westbrook is great.
I've talked to players around the league.
Then you travel with him.
Then you play with him.
And then you have, there are certain personalities that they don't wear well.
We all have these.
They don't wear well over time.
And I think that's why everybody falls in love with Westbrook.
He's a good hang.
He's a good guy.
He's a Hall of Famer.
Let's be clear.
No doubt about it.
People like him.
He's like a good dad, a good husband, a good friend, a good.
But he'll wear you out.
His style, very ball-centric, no defense, right?
It wears good teammates out.
