Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an IHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Hey guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what? We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
Starting point is 00:00:12 We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions. Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it. But, you know, tired and sick. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:00:30 you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Last night, a blown call changed a game. This morning, the internet lost its mind, and nobody's telling you exactly what happened. That's where SportsSlice comes in. I'm Timbo, and every episode, we're cutting through the noise, breaking down the biggest moments in sports and giving you the real story behind the headline. And we're going straight to the source, the athletes themselves, their locker room stories, their reactions in the moment, and the stuff nobody gets to hear. Listen to Sports Slice on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:34 And for more, follow Timbo Slicelife 12 in the TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Winning on Clay is an art. The rallies are relentless. And at the French Open, only the toughest survive. I'd know. I competed there for decades. Join me, Renee Stubbs, on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast for no nonsense breakdowns of the biggest matches, the toughest players, and the moments that define Roland Garris. Jen should win.
Starting point is 00:01:56 She's an outsider to win the French friend. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lernerabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Listen to the Renee Stubbs tennis podcasts on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart Women's Sports. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
Starting point is 00:02:20 It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, thanks for listening to the Covino Enrich podcast.

Now you can always chime in at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio. In fact, we recommend you always do that. Let's get involved, to stay interactive.
Starting point is 00:04:00 The show really never ends. Appreciate all the feedback. Again, I'm Steve Kavino. That is Rich Davis. And again, I hope you're having a Sequin-Barkley type of day, as I said earlier. A little fun fact. I don't think a lot of people know that Sequin Barclay is the nephew of Iran Barclay, famous boxer, who just dominated in the 80s.
Starting point is 00:04:21 And if you remember, Roberto Durand got the best of them at one point, which was a big fight, big moment. But Sequin, huge fight fan, and he is the nephew of Iran Barclay. He sent a two-year $41.2 million extension with the Eagles. Props to him. We'll talk some football.
Starting point is 00:04:37 We got Travis Hunter and Shohei to get to Shaq Diesel trivia this hour, but I don't want to keep people hanging. You know, we'll go rapid fire through these, but based on the Sequan contract code, just when everyone said, oh, running backs don't matter. Over the last couple years,
Starting point is 00:04:52 Christian McCaffrey, and then last year, Sequin and Derek Henry were like, oh yeah, running bats don't matter. Running backs. Hold up. You don't forget Josh Jacobs with the Packers. And Josh Jacobs, running backs have been such a crucial part of offensive success. The minute everyone started counting out running backs like, you know, you can do running back by committee. Who cares?
Starting point is 00:05:12 The minute that sentiment came into the forefront, a lot of teams like, oh, yeah, really? Oh, really? And you'll see what you saw what happened in the last two seasons. Yeah. All right. Your favorite big guys. It's Fat Tuesday. Rapid Fire.
Starting point is 00:05:24 We'll be done with this. And then I have an NBA thought based on a stat I just saw. I just saw. We'll go to Alex in Colorado. What's up, Alex? Thanks, Ben. You know, called in twice and, you know, you're great. Appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Big Ben Wallace. Big Ben Wallace. So you crushed me with the fielders. Bad dudes that just crushed it. And I was thinking, you know, my hometown, Detroit, we got Big Ben Wallace. You know, when, have you ever seen that graphic? I know you have Kavino, so I'm just speaking to the collective view, where it shows you where kids played in Little League.
Starting point is 00:06:08 And it was always the big dude that was catcher or first base? Like lefty was first base or big guy? And big guy, if you're a coach of a Little League team and you got a big guy, what's your instinct? First base. First base or catcher. That's my instinct, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:22 That's, you know, it's where you go. I have another honorable mention for basketball. How about Shubby from Teen Wolf? He was on the Beavers. Remember that? Played by the same dude that says, look, it's Enrico Palazzo. He was also Francis Buxton
Starting point is 00:06:38 in Pue's Big Adventure. What a guy. Yeah, his name's Mark Holton, by the way. Mark Hulton, Chubby from, you know, the beavers. Anyway, who else do we got? Let's say how to Bill in North Carolina. Hey, what up, Bill? I think best answers so far have been Chubby and King Hippo. What's up, Bill?
Starting point is 00:06:53 Yeah, I got one for you. I'm going to jump across the fair gender fence. and I'm going to give you one you guys probably work with her. How about the fabulous sports babe? I didn't even know who the fabulous sports babe is. It's Danny G. Hey, hey, babe. Hey, what's going on?
Starting point is 00:07:13 Jose in Rochester. What's up, Jose? Hey, what's up, Jose? Hey, guys, I love you so, man. You cracked me out. Thanks, man. I don't know if you guys remember, Bob Lanier had the biggest foot in basketball, size 22.
Starting point is 00:07:27 It's a big fellow. Was he a big guy? Fat foot. He got fat foot. Matt in Illinois. What's up, man? Hey, how about John Daly? Yeah, we said he's the Babe Ruth of golf, for sure.
Starting point is 00:07:41 That's a great one. Greg and Hartford. It will take one more after that. What's up, Greg? Hey, I'm thinking Cortez Kennedy, and I'm thinking Duckworths from the old trailblazers. Thank you, buddy. One last full call. What about Goldberg, the goalie in Mighty Ducks?
Starting point is 00:08:00 Is that a good one? I don't know. I never saw it. That's true. Gil and Virginia, wrap it up. Hey, what up, Gil? Hey, guys. So I got a few.
Starting point is 00:08:08 We're going to start in entertainment with any character from the Sopranos. I'm going to jump over to baseball with Kirby Pucket. And then I've got the young version of Doe Boy. I like all those answers, actually. I'm going to go with Bobby Buccalow, though. Bobby Buckelow and I'm going to go, yeah, Kirby Pucket. Dude, when you think of Kirby Pucket, dude, when you think of Kirby, Puckett and Tony Gwynn. That's why this is an inspiring
Starting point is 00:08:32 conversation. It's the one I forgot to mention. I wrote down Tony Gwynn. These guys were not built with, you know, amazing physiques and who was greater than Kirby Puckett and Tony Gwyn when it came to hitting and baseball and everything else? That's what made them insanely great. And they were such great hitters.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Relatability with baseball, too. Like, that's why a lot of guys look down at the field and when they're in the stands, like, I could play that game. I could go out there and play. It's inspiring. It's such a skill sport. It is. It proves it right there, man. And that's why there's an interesting debate going on between Travis Hunter and Shohei Otani.
Starting point is 00:09:07 I think that's a natural position. Uh, no doubt. I just, uh, you know what? Well, I'm going to put my NBA thought aside until later. And we go right into this conversation about Shohei Otani and Travis Hunter. Because when you talk about skill in sports, I'm not going to get to that conversation of like, what's the hardest sport to play? Because, you know, that's, that's so hard for debate.
Starting point is 00:09:31 hitting a baseball, you could argue to this day is the hardest thing to do. I've seen professional athletes from all different sports get together in like barbershop type scenarios and discuss, well, listen, I can go to the NBA tomorrow and maybe hit a couple free throws and, you know, I could throw up a couple three-pointers and hope they go in, but I can promise you. There's always a debate for like some sort of decathlon or something like that. There's always a debate of some other sport. Fighting, of course, right?
Starting point is 00:09:59 The physical condition you need. need to be in the skill level you need to have to compete people say you know hockey players they're skating but it all comes back to the the same old thing the hardest thing to do is hit a round ball with a round bat and it's baseball it's a skill sport as we just explained and the debate this week was based on something Travis hunter said i mean again he was asked the question but what is harder to play on both sides of the sport is it football or baseball here's what Travis hunter's said if you missed it. Probably me, what I do
Starting point is 00:10:38 in football because it's a lot on your body. You know, Tony, he's a great player, but you got to do a lot of in football. Again, the question was, what's harder to play on both sides of the sport? Football or baseball, meaning is it harder for Travis Hunter, who plays offense and defense, or
Starting point is 00:10:54 is it harder for baseball, Shohi Eltoni as a pitcher and batter? The answer is obvious. and you can't come down on Travis Hunter. It was a quick answer to a quick question at a combine. That's the other thing that people need to keep in mind when it comes to quotes and a lot of the things we discuss here on Fox Sports Radio.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Well, why did they say that? Hey, did you hear what Travis Hunter said? Yeah, well, he was asked the question. That's what people need to keep in mind sometimes. Now he said it, like he was calling out Shohei Otani. Or calling out baseball. Someone asked him a question. That needs to be explained.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Hey, Kavino. Yeah. You like big asses? I do. You hear Kavino? He's on Fox Sports talking about how all he's talking about is booty. But you asked me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:38 So he was asked the question he answered. I'm not mad at him about it. I ask you a question. I don't agree with him. I don't think anyone should. Does he make a point? It's almost like a two-part answer. Football is going to be more tall on your body.
Starting point is 00:11:53 But is it a harder sport to play both ways? No way. You've got to be exceptional in baseball. I think it's a on both sides. I'm not saying it's a short. short conversation, but I sort of think it is because there's two layers like you just said. The physical
Starting point is 00:12:08 wear and tear and what it does to your body. You're going to be more gas playing both sides of football. To play in the NFL. Forget college. I mean, he was a, you know, star player in college, Heisman Trophy winner. To play in college
Starting point is 00:12:23 on both sides of the ball and do that in the NFL is extraordinary. The fact that you could line up on both sides of the ball and defend the past and then also make, you know, ridiculous catches. You can be a professional and, you know, elite level too. What that does to your body is something no one's experienced. That's insane.
Starting point is 00:12:44 But Justin Jefferson, if he needed to, could play defensive back. If you were like, yo, we're in the biggest emergency of all emergencies. C.D. Lamb, could you be a defender for a minute? He could probably do it. Maybe not elite. But guess what? I bet you Brandon Ayyuk or Tyree Kale could defend the pass. You know why, Rich?
Starting point is 00:13:04 Because they've all done it at one point in their life in that sport. There's no question that these guys are playing both sides of the ball at one point. They may not be elite on both sides like Travis Hunter. But I can promise you, you take, you know, T. Higgins or any elite wide receiver that we talk about, if push came to shove, they could play defensive back. they can play free safety. They can do any of these things. And any guy in the secondary, if he needed to, could catch passes from a quarterback. But as we describe what baseball is such a skill sport, to be elite enough to be a dominant pitcher
Starting point is 00:13:42 and a dominant hitter at a big league level like Shoho Otani's doing, takes much more skill, much more difficult, in our opinion, than what Travis Hunter has to do. And that's not to take anything away from him because it's remarkable. It's just to combat the answer he gave. to that question. If you guys agree or disagree, we'd love to hear from you. 87799 on Fox, but I think what Shohey O'Tani's doing is much more difficult,
Starting point is 00:14:09 much more impressive. It's a difference between, yeah, that's crazy. That's unbelievable versus like, yo, one guy has done it since Babe Ruth effectively. Harder to play on both sides, Fox Sports Radio Nation. Is there any debate? Does Travis Hunter have any truth to what he said?
Starting point is 00:14:27 All right, let me throw a curbel at you. Otani style. Show you outani at points. I mean, this guy's been an MVP without even pitching. Throwing the fact that in any given season, he's a Cy Young candidate. That's what makes it insane.
Starting point is 00:14:47 And not even a question for me. Like, to take what, you know, a screwball or a, you know, Verlander or a Scherzer in their prime, or Paul Skeenz is doing on the Mountain. And imagine if that guy was also stealing 50 bases, hitting 50 home runs. That's the thing. Yeah. Think of any slugger out there.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Aaron Judge. He's not going to get on a mound and be as dominant as Joe Hay has become on the mound. It's just not going to happen. Has he done it at one point in his career? You know, as a high schooler and little league? Yeah, of course, everybody has. So I'm sure he has that experience. But to do it on that level, no way.
Starting point is 00:15:22 I think the better. That's why when you see any position player take the mound, they're always doing junk pitches, knuckle balls, things like that. You sent me that random clip of Wade Boggs recently. I had never seen that. Dan Byer, I know you've seen a lot of these clips. Did you ever see that Wade Boggs throwing knuckle balls from like back in the day? He retired the side.
Starting point is 00:15:39 No, I didn't. He was real pumped to make his debut. He was one of those guys known for always throwing a mean knuckleball, always wanting to get out there and then finally got his chance with the Yankees. I've never seen it. I've never seen it. I've never seen it myself. And it's during the Yankees Joe Tori days. And the Yankees were down, you know, ten.
Starting point is 00:15:57 plus runs in the seventh or eighth inning. Out comes Wade Boggs and he's throwing knucklers. And he actually strikes someone out, gets two guys to ground out. It was phenomenal. Right. The better question is not Travis Hunter versus Otani. You got to say, do you put what Otani's doing because pitching and hitting are so different?
Starting point is 00:16:16 Is that equal to what Primetime did or Bo Jackson playing two different sports? Because pitching and hitting, it's almost like two different sports. That's the better question. It would almost be like being a Pro Bowl kicker, kicking, you know, 60-yard field goals, and then also being able to play, you know, a skill position. It would be like if Sequan Barclay could also kick like Justin Tucker. Yeah, exactly. It's still two different skills.
Starting point is 00:16:44 Like, I'll be honest, it sounds ridiculous, but I'll pat you on the back, Kavino, since I rarely do so. Being a sports talk show host is different than when Kavino does, like, rock radio. Oh, yeah. Those are two different skills. Like when you hear Kavino on one of the rock stations on Sirius XM, hey, oh, that was Metallica. And, you know, he's shooting the crap about all his fun facts about rock music.
Starting point is 00:17:07 In between songs. Telling some of the same jokes, though. Oh, yeah. Oh, the jokes are equally bad. But that skill is not the same skill as doing a talk show. It's a different skill. Yeah, a different tool in the toolbox. Yeah, it absolutely is.
Starting point is 00:17:21 That's actually a good question. Is that a better debate? Like what Bo Jackson did? what Dion Sanders did. Is that a better debate? Travis Hunter, regardless, not trying to take anything away from him. It's unbelievable. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:17:38 You know, the fact that we're even debating what he's doing with Shohei is a testament to how great he is. But I do think that two sides of baseball is harder to play than, you know, both sides of football. Kvino, it's just more taxing, more tolling on you, right? More exhausting football to do both sides. football gurus that want to strangle me when I say this. But from my perspective, being a defensive back and a wide receiver
Starting point is 00:18:07 are probably two of the most similar positions where you're just doing close to the same thing just on two different sides of the ball. I'm sure a professional would debate that. Of course they would, but I'm saying like, it would be like defending a point guard or being a point guard that has the ball. But you would imagine the same athleticism is required.
Starting point is 00:18:30 It's a very similar skill set. Maybe I could be totally wrong, but that's how I look at it at it. We were talking wide receiver versus defensive back, right? Yeah, yeah. Wide receivers usually are a little taller. I mean, if we're talking about physically, physical differences. And have better hands. And defensive backs a little quicker and they're receiving because their hands are better.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Yeah. Yeah. Now, it became a debate. Travis Hunter, again, he was asked the question, and what we started to play on both sides. So we thought about it. We brought it to you. We'll take two quick phone calls,
Starting point is 00:19:01 and we'll get ready for some Shaq Diesel trivia. All right. Let's say hi to Doug in Maryland. Hey, Doug. Hey, guys, how you doing? Real quick. I don't want to take a lot of time, but Travis Hunter's on the same level
Starting point is 00:19:13 as Charles Woodson, who played both ways. But, look, like I was telling your call screener, the most difficult sport in the world to play is baseball. You're hitting a brown ball off a round bat. and then he throws 100 miles per hour. I mean, there's no argument. It's Otani. And trust me, I'm not a big Otani fan,
Starting point is 00:19:31 but I have to admire and respect the talent that he has. I mean, there's no debate. You know what so funny is that's one of those, like, automatic responses that we all have. Round ball, round bat, hardest ever. Did those science nerds with the mustaches and brays ever put this to the test? Did John Brinkas ever really do a sport science on what really is the hardest? Because we just know as sports fans, we all know that.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Cricket's easier than it's that what you're saying? I'm saying we just as sports fans have heard that and that's our automatic response. Round ball, round bat, hardest thing to do. I don't know if that's true. Am I dreaming? It seems to be though when you got such a short reaction time. I believe John Brinkas did put that to the test. Like how insane it is in sports science to react.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Well, your reaction time. To react in that split second, that split second to make that decision on where the pitches is going to be. Because when we've all, what it's going to be. We've all stood in a batting cage, the fastest one. And, you know, before you can even think about getting the bat around, the pitches past you, whereas all of us have thrown a football, some of us can throw it better than others, but we can all spiral the ball.
Starting point is 00:20:38 We've all caught a punt. You know, so it seems at least easier, even though the NFL is not easy. You don't have a defender in your face, but we've all made a three-pointer. Exactly. I think I may be dreaming this, but this has been discussed among athletes. I feel like Mookie Betts, who's known as such a great athlete across the board, has discussed with fellow elite athletes, football, baseball, basketball, where he's like, yo, with all due respect,
Starting point is 00:21:04 I know I wouldn't be great in the NBA, but I might score four points, chuck up a couple shots get lucky, but there's no way. And he's talking to like NBA players saying, you know, there's no way you're even touching the ball in 10 at bats in the big leagues. Like you're not even making contact it yet in the NBA, I wouldn't be good, but I think a guy like Mookiee Betts said, I'll get off a couple shots and maybe I'll get lucky. You're not getting lucky in the batters box.
Starting point is 00:21:29 I think that's where it ends. All right, you want to say to Robert in Minnesota? Robert, you're on with C&R. We got Shaq Diesel Trivia on deck. What's up, Robert? Hey, guys, love this show. It's great. Thanks, man.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Thank you. I think it's important also to acknowledge the cultural differences we don't discuss with the international players, whether it's from Asia, from South America, from Venezuela, from Dominican Republic. These guys are adjusting to a culture change as well as their sport. And an important question to ask is everybody from Fox Sports. Got to dump that idiot.
Starting point is 00:22:11 That guy calls every day. He changes his voice every day too. But you know what he does? He says something rude at the end, but he doesn't realize that it's purposeless because we have a dump button. Yeah, but yeah. But the beginning part of the call is always great. I know, man. He ruins his own call.
Starting point is 00:22:28 You guys have a troll caller now. That officially means Covino and Rich have arrived. Yeah, we made it, bro. Yeah, there you go. How you like me now? With that said, let's play some Shaq Diesel trivia. If you want to win a Covino and Rich Swiggy, stainless steel water bottle, some goodies. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:22:47 87799 on Fox. We will play Shaq Diesel Trivia next right here on Fox Sports Radio. Starting point is 00:23:50 What's the news, name? Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts.
Starting point is 00:24:00 Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. Before Jonas Brothers was...
Starting point is 00:24:22 This is how you guys remember it going down. Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:24:41 or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The French Open is one of the toughest tests in tennis, and I know firsthand, because I do it. competed there myself. I'm Renee Stubbs, and on the Renee Stubbs tennis podcast, I'm breaking down
Starting point is 00:25:28 everything happening at Roland Garris, every match, every upset, and what it really takes to win on Clay. Jenschen went. I mean, she went down to three to Rabakina, but I'm delighted. She's an outsider to win the French for me. And she likes Clay. Listen, Lina Rabakina is arguably the best player in the world right now, and I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck. Consider this your court-side seat to the French Open. Listen to the Renee Stubbs Tennis podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:26:06 Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full. year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Jacob Kingston grew up in an isolated polygamous sect. We were God's chosen

Ferrari's and Lamborghinis, private jets, meeting the president of Turkey. I'm Michelle McPhee, and this is one of the most shocking criminal conspiracies I've ever come across. When Jacob met Levant this plant to a billion dollar fraud. But with two kings from entirely different worlds, just how long can their empire survive? The largest tax investigation in American history. You need to tell me what you know.
Starting point is 00:27:20 Is somebody coming after me? I'm told Levan, you're ruining my life. Listen to Kingdom of Fraud on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Thank you. Basketball trivia. Uh, what he said. Who's the great bad boys now breaking records for FSR Radio. Shaq Diesel basketball trivia. All right, FSR security walking our broke shack food into the main studio. Danny Jay, I won confirmation that during our fat guy in sport conversation, I did not bring up Shaq.
Starting point is 00:28:39 I was listening to say you guys were lucky. I didn't hear my name. I was listening. But, yeah, definitely Charles Barkley belongs to this conversation, especially now. Definitely Charles Barkley. One thing fat on you is your pockets. That's right. So you making even more money, more businesses now.

Starting point is 00:29:16 Hey, Mark, how are you, bud? Going on, guys. Good, how are you? What's going on? What's going on? Mark, say, what's up to Shaq? Long-time listener, first-time caller. What's going on, Sha.
Starting point is 00:29:24 I appreciate that. Mark, what do you do for a living there in Maine? I make alcohol for Zazirac. Oh, well, nice. Send me some. Nice hookup, yeah. Here are the rules for Shaq Diesel trivia. The first contestant with two correct answers is the champion.
Starting point is 00:29:39 If there's a tie, we have a tie breaker question. Your name is your buzzer, but you do have to wait until all three possible answers are read. If there's two wrong answers in a row, we move on to the next question. Are you ready? Right, let's get into this. I'm ready. Let's get this big Aristotle party started. Okay, now.
Starting point is 00:29:54 I'm not on a list, but who holds the record for the most NBA free throws made? A, Oscar Robertson, B, LeBron James, C, Carl Malone. Mark. Mark. Oscar Robertson. No. Oh, rich. Rich for the steel.
Starting point is 00:30:10 I mean, just based on longevity, LeBron James? No. No, you're both losers. By the way. The hot Carl Malone. LeBron is second on the list. 787. You know, LeBron, one point away from 50,000 today, right?
Starting point is 00:30:24 Yeah. I saw Dan shaking his head in there. I wonder why. Dan's furious. Hey, I wonder why as well, Shaq. You know what? Rich knows more about... I thought his nickname was the mailman.
Starting point is 00:30:34 Not what you said. Rich knows more about Maggie Malone. All right. All right, nobody on the board yet as we moved to round two. Round two. Spider-John Sally won NBA titles with three different teams. The Pistons, the Bulls, and who? A, the Spurs.
Starting point is 00:30:53 be the Lakers or C the heat. John Sal Mark. Mark. The Lakers. Yes. With me and Kobe in 2000. Mark on the board, he's a good man. I knew that one, Jack.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Yeah, good for you, Mark. All right. Mark, halfway to winning a Swigie as we go to round three. What was I once quoted saying about my foul shooting? Hey, underhand foul shots would make me look like a big dummy. I'd rather go 6 for 13 at the line. B, me shooting 40% at foul lines is just God's way of saying nobody's perfect. Or C, most of the people hating on my free throw shooting could never sniff the D league.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Mark. Oh, Mark for the win. B? B. Yeah. B. Yes. Wow. Me shooting 40% at the foul line is God's way of saying nobody's perfect, but I'm damn close.
Starting point is 00:31:49 He'd jump right in there. Dang, clean, sweet. I wanted to win that swiggy. I'm sorry. That was a great job. Mark, we're happy for you. By the way, Shaq, is it true you named your boat after yourself? I did.
Starting point is 00:32:02 It's called. Was it going to? What was that stupid joke? Called it brick. It broke. I called a free throw. That way I never sink it. Mark, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Hang on the line there in Maine. Thank you for listening. Mark's the man. Thanks, guys. Thank you, Mark. I like Mark's energy. He's good call. He brought it.
Starting point is 00:32:20 He brought it for that. I like it. My joke failed. What was that stupid? mean that went around about Shaq's boat? It's called free throw, because I would never sink it. Oh, that's right. Okay, that's what it is. That's what you. You can't tell jokes if you don't know the punchline. Okay, that's so sorry, Shaq. Have a good death.
Starting point is 00:32:33 Later, guys. Thanks, brother. Thanks, Shaq. Thank you, Shaq. You know, as we go to Dan Baier for an update, I want you to think about one thing. How bad that joke was? How bad that joke was? You know what? You got another punchline to your own jokes. How bad the joke was told? How about that? Guys, fool me once. Shame on. Can't get fooled again. Dan Meyer, what's going on, man? Guys, crazy day in baseball.
Starting point is 00:32:56 This story has been making the rounds. Actually, you know what? I'm going to save it to the end. I'll save it to the end because I'll give you something. What a tease. Yes, what a tease. Kyrie Irving done for the year. The Mavericks Guard tore his ACL last night against the Sacramento Kings.
Starting point is 00:33:09 He will need surgery and will not play again this season. And now there's possible talk. Maybe the Mavericks just keep Anthony Davis out for the rest of the year. Mavericks currently the 10 seed in the West. Jalen Suggs of the Orlando. Magic hasn't played more than a month. He's not going to play for the rest of the year. He had surgery to repair his left knee injury. Philadelphia Eagles made running back Sequin Barkley, the highest paid running back in NFL history, gets a two-year extension with $41.2 million. He becomes the first running back to break the $20 million a year. Jets released wide receiver Devante Adams. Vikings did not use the franchise tag on quarterback Sam Darnold. That means just two players got the franchise tag this year. Bengals wide receiver T. Higgins, who got it for the second time. and Chiefs Guard, Trace Smith, had the franchise tag placed on him. The Cowboys didn't need to do it to defensive lineman Osa,
Starting point is 00:33:59 Adigizua, who signed a four-year $80 million extension with the team. C.D. Lama, the Cowboys also restructured his contract, the free up about $20 million in cap space. Seahawks made a bunch of cuts today. Tyler Lockett was not one of them, but they saved $26 million in cap space. Packers signed kicker Brandon McManus. He's back on a three-year deal. Well, the Rams traded offensive lineman Jonah Jackson to the Bears.
Starting point is 00:34:21 change for a sixth round pick. Then I mentioned Devante Adams got released. If I did, I'm sorry, but if I didn't, he freed up about $30 million in cap space for the New York Jets and reports say that Adams likely prefers to plan the West Coast as he looks for a new team. University of North Carolina will not be appearing in HBO's off-season version of hard knocks, despite reports that they were last week. That is not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:34:45 And now the baseball story happened in college baseball today. George Mason University, their baseball team, said an NCAA record. by scoring 23 runs in one inning in a 26-6 victory over Holy Cross. The GMU Patriots scored the runs in the second inning, did not hit a triple or a home run. Holy Cross said to use five different pitchers, and at one stretch, George Mason had 19 straight batters reach base. A 23 run bottom of the second inning is George Mason gets that 20 run win today over Holy Cross. Guys, back to you. empty your feeling when you're playing even rec sports if there's no run limit like i play in one
Starting point is 00:35:27 league where there's you know this five run limit per inning just to keep the game moving when you were a little league kid and the pitcher couldn't find the strikes on it's embarrassing man you just felt like we're never going to get in the dugout i hope you're not having a holy cross sort of day holy mackerel yeah holy mackerel's right thank you db i got to ask you a football question you brought up devante adams what is your thought because i'm too close to, I'm too close to the story to give you a real answer as a Niners fan. If Devante Adams wants to play on the West Coast, if the Niners picked him up and got some type of deal, is Devonte Adams and Debo Samuel a push to you or is Debo, his youth give you a feel like Debo's got
Starting point is 00:36:06 more? You know, that's how I feel. You already said it. I feel like Debo's going to give you a little more because I think he has some gas left. And that's why the commanders are excited about it. Again, it's two sides to the story, right? Yesterday you heard here on Fox Sports Radio, Rich trying to justify that Debo's game was just not the same. I feel like it's not. He was giving you all the stats and his decline and how he's just not that good anymore. If you go and talk to any commanders fan or you talk to Jaden Daniels or anybody who's rooting for the commanders, they're like, yo, these are the moves that we need to make, man, this is it.
Starting point is 00:36:37 And if you talk to Debo, he'll tell you how excited he is to join that team, how hungry they are. So, again, two sides to every story. That being said, I think Debo's got more juice. Devante Adams played for Danny G's Raiders just a year ago. I think it's a push on attitudes. He was on, he was on receiver. It is a push on attitudes. I feel like Devante and Debo, not the cheeriest of wide receivers in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:37:01 I think there's a commonality there for sure. But I feel like Devante Adams is one of those guys where, and it's not the best trait. And again, I don't know him personally. So this could all be BS. But I feel like he's one of those guys. We know these friends and we've been in relationships with people where when things are good, they're happy. When things are bad, they get all sour. And I feel like in a good situation, if Devante Adams was on the Niners and they were winning, don't you feel like Devante Adams all of a sudden he's cheery and happy Devante Adams?
Starting point is 00:37:28 Yeah, but he has his sour shoes on right now. Sour shoes. More like Devante Sadams. Yeah. More like Saddam's. Good one, Sam. Sam, play the rib shot on yourself. Sam.
Starting point is 00:37:40 Sam. Yeah, Rich Adams is going to have to be okay with taking a pay cut because, you know, no team's going to want to shell out, what was it, $36 million or whatever the Jets would have. been on the hook for. I just feel like, you know, if McCaffrey's back in action, Kittle wants to remain a nineer, he will. And if you got Ayuk, Jennings, Pierce, Saul, and you had a veteran like Devante, that's a pretty solid core of receivers. I just, I wonder if happy Devante would take a pay cut to go to the 49ers.
Starting point is 00:38:09 It's an interesting fit. You would hope. You would hope. And I only said the Niners because he said West Coast and the Niners now have a void to fill a little bit, right? Now, I have an NBA question. I want to end. So are the Rams.
Starting point is 00:38:20 I mean, that is true. That's another landing possibility. I don't see that as much of a fit, though, but there's an opening. Since Jimmy Butler joined the Golden State Warriors. Yeah, they've been streaking, dude. Eight and two. Yep. Since Luca joined the Lakers, I believe 11 and 2.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Are the two... Since AD joined the Mavericks? Oh, boy. Oh, no. Nightmare. By the way, though, when Dan Byer was reading his update on that, and he's saying Kyrie's out for the season most likely, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:53 ACL surgery. Does that take heat and pressure off of AD? Well, you heard the other rumor story he said that may just shut him down now. Yeah, so, I mean, why would you? And how do you look at that? Like, they made that move and his whole season is a bust as a result. Well, that's what happened? With the Kyrie thing would have happened?
Starting point is 00:39:12 Like, the whole story is kind of odd. But all these injuries, ridiculous. Is it that the storyline, though, when most teams lose their, like, more than one star player like that's i think it takes some pressure off of ad they really through this season away is what it comes yeah just in that case you're right but also we know ad is a competitor and how much he fought to stay on the court all last season and you know he has a chip on his shoulder too not just luca what's the point no i feel you on that but i mean there would have been pressure you're right there would have been pressure on ad to come back and help them lock up one of the playoff spots because as buyer
Starting point is 00:39:48 said they're in the 10th seed right now. Dude, referenced my team that I was just talking about in football. Last year, Iyuk out for the year. McCaffrey, out for the year. When you lose the pro bowl star players on your team more than one of them, like one star is gone. You could try to pivot and be like, what can we do? It's just sometimes it's like destiny.
Starting point is 00:40:07 Like this is just not the year. Everything went wrong. When Trent, Ayuk, McAfrey, everyone's down. It's my, yeah, you know what? Don't you think AD has something to prove right now as well, though? Because everybody's been talking about Luca and how much motivation he has. But they're forgetting about Anthony Davis in his competitiveness. I think he has a lot to prove.
Starting point is 00:40:26 He's being downplayed because of how sad they are about Luca and seeing how well he's doing in L.A. Yeah, I do think he has a lot to prove. I just don't think it's happening now. I'm just saying when you look at the NBA Western Conference now. Yeah. And you see the Golden State Warriors, they're now in the six seed, which means no playing nonsense. Like if the season ended today, they're the six seed. They proceed.
Starting point is 00:40:47 Lakers the two seed Are those two teams with the adjustments they made and even Stephen A Not only did he apologize to The boxer The Monoach I apologize to that brother
Starting point is 00:41:02 He apologized to Jimmy Butler For not thinking that would be an impact move And right now you might look at a Western I'm sorry Jimmy You might look at a Western conference Where the Lakers, the Warriors A dominant OKC and maybe throw the nuggets in there for good measure. That might be, those might be your four Western Conference teams and the return
Starting point is 00:41:22 of all-weight Golden State and the Lakers? But is it really the Jimmy Butler's and the Lukas that are making the impact? They are by default because you could make the argument that they lit the fire of a Steph Curry and LeBron James. That's really what happened. You rejuvenated the old guys. It's the Colin Calhurt theory. You got to give credit where it's due. It's the young blood inspiring the old guys to step their game up to remind everybody that they, They're still the guy. And that happens just by default. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:51 You know, you see Rich get real competitive. This is true. I swear to God. Rich doesn't even realize he's doing it. But if a young handsome guy walks into the party, Rich really wants to show that he still has the game and the charm and the Riz. And all of a sudden, Rich comes to life. And he's like, I'm the most charismatic handsome guy in the room.
Starting point is 00:42:07 It's just your instinct, dude. Like if you're the guy and then other people like, oh, maybe Jimmy Butler's the guy. Steph Curry is like, nah, hold up. I'm the guy. Well, if Luca's the guy, LeBron's like, hold up, wait a second. I'm the guy. And I think that's what we're seeing here, too. A little mix of everything, but it's not necessarily those moves.
Starting point is 00:42:26 It's the OG stepping up. I'm thankful that you acknowledge that about me. It's a weird trait, it's a weird trait. It's a oddly competitive trait. I think it's a great trait. Yeah, but they're on the court. You're at a party. There's a difference.
Starting point is 00:42:39 I just want to make sure everyone knows. All right. Hey, we got more Kevin and Rich next. Fox Sports Radio, hang tight. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news? Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it.
Starting point is 00:42:58 We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts. We're starting a trend. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And, well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down?
Starting point is 00:43:24 Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Listen, Lina Rubakina is arguably the best player in the world right now. And I actually can win on any surface. Because if she's serving, well, good luck.

Starting point is 00:47:26 And shout out to MythBusters. A lot of people hit me up like, dude, you were thinking of the Mythbusters earlier. I mentioned John Brancis and sports science. I was trying to think of the other dudes. The MythBusters, those dudes. Now, Rich, yeah, buddy. Do you know what the know. No leaf clover is that Metallica sings about? The no leaf clover. Metallica has a song called No Leaf Clover. I do not tell me all about it. Stud.
Starting point is 00:47:51 Think about it. Bad luck. Before leaf clover is good luck. I would imagine a no leaf clover is like terrible luck. Bo bam. Rich, what album is this from? The black album? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:48:03 I'm just naming anything. Nah, that was before. So the no leaf clover is the opposite of good luck. right. So having bad luck. And you heard Dan Byer, you heard the story today. You saw the highlight last night. Kyrie tore his ACLs painful. It was sad, but it was inspiring. It was all moving. Fans were up on their feet. But ever since AD got traded, it's been downhill. I mean, since Luca got traded. Mass fans have been going through it in 2025. People are chanting, you know, thank you, Nico at Lakers games.
Starting point is 00:48:41 It's so embarrassing. Haven't the Mavericks even pivoted in another weird way where they raise ticket prices? And it's like, and you're raising ticket prices? But it actually started. If you go through the timeline on January 14th, Derek Lively suffered an ankle fracture, right? Then February 1st, the Mavericks trade Luca. And you're like, what? Everybody freaked out about that.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Mavericks fans devastated. And I think we're seeing like the impact was greater than anyone would have thought. The fans are really upset by this whole thing. Protesting. A lot of pressure on AD, a lot of pressure on Nico Harrison. I mean, it felt big. We were in Vegas when it happened. And you heard the murmurs through the whole casino like Luca.
Starting point is 00:49:32 I think you're like whispers, I think. Yeah. So again, that was February 1st, the Mavs trade, Luca, for. AD. On the 8th, February 8th, AD strains his abductor in the Mavericks debut, what, second quarter? You started a third quarter. Started a third quarter. But the first two, yeah, the first two were really like, whoa, man, automatic, Jellin like Magellan. Chemistry's there. He and Kyrie looked really great together. One of the reasons why is because AD doesn't need the ball in his hands as much. And so Kyrie was obviously handling the ball a ton because no more Luca on the team.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Yeah. And you're going to see great defense. So it was great chemistry. They always wanted a ball together. And again, strains his abductor. He's out. On the 10th, Daniel Gaffert Springs his MCL. And then yesterday, the third, Kyrie tears, the ACL. And you probably get no AD return as a result.
Starting point is 00:50:26 So everything has been downhill. It's like Nico Harrison's no good, terrible, horrible, very bad year. Every move he made was bad. And the team has been crumbling since. So they went from contenders to like, yeah, I don't even think we're going to play anymore. So just some bad luck all around, Rich. It makes you think, have you been to a streak that bad?
Starting point is 00:50:47 Have you seen a streak that bad? I think personally, I think in relationships and life and work, we've all been through our hot and cold treats, but I remember dating a woman once where everyone in her life things started happening to. Oh, yeah. And I left because I was like, I'm not next. Like everyone she knew was like, oh, they got a fender bender. Oh, her dad got sick.
Starting point is 00:51:06 Her brother got arrested for weed. Her dog died. her dog, everyone in her life, something was happening. I'm like, out. See ya. Sorry. All right. Well, listen, we'll see you tomorrow. Have a great Tuesday night. Arribanchi, baby. See you in the Promise Land. Later, fatties.
