Starting point is 00:03:13 It's the show, CNR on FSR broadcast and live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. And express employment professionals can provide contract workers to flex. The first round covered by Fox Sports Radio and simulcasted on the Fox Sports Radio YouTube page presented by Express Pros. All right. So a big, big day, your franchise stars could change tonight.
Starting point is 00:04:09 But people are idiots. People are idiots, though, because I was watching a lot of funny videos earlier today where Chiefs fans are like, Mahomes, why him? And there's great clips if you look hard enough where all Buffalo Bills fans are like, Josh Allen, we wanted Josh Rosen. Wrong Josh. Yeah, for sure, for sure. So people are bird brains.
Starting point is 00:04:27 But, hey, NFL draft is really fun regardless. I do have to ask Steve Kavino, being that you are half Votto, half Guido. Mm-hmm. If you were a player getting drafted tonight, how flashy would you be? Like, what would you be rocking? What would be your drip, as the kids say? I mean, you got to wear lots of chains. That's just it.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Even with your suit, just got to let them hang. And what would your walkout song be? We saw the official list. Oh, it's probably like, we want the funk. I don't know. Gotta have that folks. Something like to make a statement. What?
Starting point is 00:05:00 I don't know. Something that Slick would walk out to. What did Slick walk out to? Oh, uh, drive soul bro. Yeah, something like that. Or maybe some rage against the machine. I don't know. Groveline.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Great disco song. Ladronist or a cool Mexican rock band. I was going to say if you're, if you're, it's raining man. If you're some like, no, you know what? Return of the Mac. I'll go old school. Oh, that'd be cool.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Because you feel like the Mac. You feel like the man. I'd have a sweet lining in my suit jacket. I'd be real flat. I'd be selling watches. Cam Ward's walkout song is Freestyle by Rod Wave. Yeah, no, I don't know, man. It's a great question.
Starting point is 00:05:34 What would you walk out to? You don't want to seem dated. You're asking a guy, you know, who listens to hard rock of the 90s and the zeros in old school hip hop. So, yeah, I'd want to come out to some biggie or some rage. But today, in today's world, I don't know, what would you ask? This guy was a pink pony club? The pink pony club. How dare you love that song?
Starting point is 00:05:53 I do like that song. But I wouldn't come out to that. I think what if you went actually wrestling style and they call your name with the eighth pick, you know, the 49ers take Rich Davis and all of a sudden I come out like Stone Cold. Do you know what? I'm not going to. Actually, I will debate that because if you want to play that game, I would say Mr. Perfect's theme because it's so majestic.
Starting point is 00:06:17 You know what I mean? Something like that. But hey, we're going to see some memorable moments tonight. NFL draft Thursday. It's sort of a holiday. We've been talking, Kavito, about how the draft has only amped up in the last 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years. Like, the draft is abnormally a scene. And Danny G. pointed out, not only to the guys have, you know, their jewelry, their sweet suits.
Starting point is 00:06:40 A lot of guys that know what team they're going to might actually have a color scheme that matches the team. Like, Cam Ward may have some Titan colors with his pocket square or tie. Who knows? But now you add theme songs to the mix. theme songs and we're going to see a major production. And you're going to get extensive coverage here on Fox Sports Radio. But tomorrow, when we come back to talk about it, I will be talking about just the observations of how massive it appeared,
Starting point is 00:07:08 the production value, the inside of people's living rooms and the girlfriend's reactions. Listen, I know it's going to be a lot of fun things to watch tonight. I'm not, you know, I'm not Zoolander or Mugatu or Hansel. I'm no fashionista. Yeah. But I'm just looking at the TV's in the background. Yeah, some guy's probably going to have a top hat on and we're going to have fun making fun. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:07:33 Adam Schaefter? Yeah. I think he believes he's Andrew Whitworth. He's wearing a hoodie. Yeah, it's bizarre. Like under the sports coat, but over the tie and suit. I know it's Green Bay, Wisconsin, but it's outside. When you're watching, it's a very, I'll give him credit for trying, but I don't think I've
Starting point is 00:07:53 seen a guy wear a hoodie in between the sports coat and the tie. All right. Well, these are the observations you'll get from us tomorrow and more. Remember that time McKinley walked out with a big framed photo of his grandma? Yeah. That was awesome. You know, I can't wait. And I don't know what pick it's going to be.
Starting point is 00:08:11 But there will be one overly ambitious girlfriend that's in the shot. That's a little huggy, kissy, sort of like, you know, marking her territory. like this is my man and my favorite is the CD Lamb clip from a couple years ago where the girlfriend was like looking at his phone and he was aggravated and in that moment in that moment you knew oh this ain't going to know that's not the best one the best one I can't remember who it was but it was when the mom pulled the girlfriend out of the shot she basically pulled her by the hair like get out of my shot and the mom pulled her off do you don't remember that of course I did it was that though I forget it was it wasn't it was it wasn't someone that you remember but yeah
Starting point is 00:08:49 of course Russell Wilson's ex yeah the one of the best still shots of all time. That and of course, Brett Favre in his jean shorts. So again, yeah, lots of memorable moments tonight for sure. And we look forward to talking about it. Enjoy your NFL draft Thursday. And speaking of, we do this every Thursday here on the Covino and Richo, old school when 50 hits, when 50 hits on the clock, we get into it.
Starting point is 00:09:13 And because of the draft process and the interviewing process, which is part of it, it's a big part of it. We said in honor of draft day, what was your worst? job interview ever. Well, when you have any stories. When you talk about the interview, isn't that sort of dictating the Shador Sanders storyline, right? Like some team said, well, he came in way too cocky.
Starting point is 00:09:35 And other people said, I love a guy with at that age the confidence to think that he could change a franchise. Well, it determines, you know, you see what goes on on the field, but they want to know what type of guy he is off to field and will he fit into that team and to that franchise into that future. So the interview process is a big part of it. Big deal. Have you ever heard someone give you tips on job interviews, like what to do?
Starting point is 00:09:59 Have you ever heard? Always make eye contact. Have you ever seen? Ask them questions. Have you ever heard the theory of mimic what they do? Yeah, the body language. Like if they have their leg folded, you have your leg folded. Apparently, whatever they're doing, if they lean closer to you, you lean closer to them.
Starting point is 00:10:15 There are tricks. Apparently, there's like a subconscious, like, if you're doing what they're doing. I'll tell you what. I used to interview people to give them their start in radio, right? Interns, part-time, things like that. I used to interview people all the time. And here's a little trick that always worked on me. When people were excited to be there, seemed excited,
Starting point is 00:10:37 complimented what I was doing. Like, man, what you're doing is the coolest thing ever. And I just want to be a part of that. It always made me the interviewer feel good about what I'm doing. So it made me like them more. So I'm like, yeah, this guy, he made me feel cool. I like him. You're hired.
Starting point is 00:10:54 There's something about that. There's tricks there. Danny Jay. Do you have any questions for me? Yeah. You get that during the interview. Yeah. But if you leave, as the interviewer, if you leave feeling that that person made you feel good, that does work.
Starting point is 00:11:08 It really does. It works to their advantage because it shows you like that they wanted to be there because they envy what you do and they make you feel great about it. If you research him or her, Covino, whoever's interviewing you, and their company. That way you're knowledgeable. Bam. Right? Because too many kids nowadays do not take the time to find out what they're even stepping into.
Starting point is 00:11:28 Oh, bam. Have a slight general knowledge about the person interviewing you's history. Danny, Rich takes a lot of pride in that. It's the Rich Davis. Anytime we've ever had a meeting with anyone, I know where they grew up. I know what college they went to. I know if they have kids, all their kids are. What teams they root for?
Starting point is 00:11:48 You go into an interview. It's called a Google search. or just check their social media or whatever. I think being overly prepared for a job interview is could what may get you the job. But Danny, you would think those things are obvious and they're not. No, they're not. Big Mike who kind of runs this place. Yeah, he does.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Somebody say who for me. Who? Never heard of them. Who? He told us a story about how he interviewed somebody. I think it was last year. And he asked them how much they listened to the network and they told them they've never listened. You got a fake font.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Or spend a week prior to you. interview you know when your interview date is how about you listen around the clock prior to your interview we interview people they told them yeah i'm not much of a sports person what i've interviewed people at back of the day at serious xm when we were there and they came in like yeah i don't really know what is it cyrus radio it's like you try to get a job here man and you're what are you dingbat so another thing before we take the uh the sad stories of your terrible job interviews 87799 on fox and we'll talk more NFL draft, obviously. It's draft night. I'm a firm believer in what Kavino said, and I'll back it up by saying,
Starting point is 00:12:55 make the person that's interviewing you feel cool. Feel cool. We would have people, remember interns back in the day? Yeah. I missed the days of having someone help out for free. I'm going to demand it being paid. Yeah, but it makes sense. They deserve it. No one should work for free. Why? I did. It's called you got college credit. Yeah, but still. You sure not. Anyway, whatever. I remember saying, I really don't care about your resume. We would always have an intern sit in for like 20 minutes on the show to see what we're doing.
Starting point is 00:13:25 I was judging them based on their body language. If they were following along with the conversation, chuckling, laughing, smiling versus someone can be super qualified. But if they sat there like, the whole time, I was like, yeah, we can't hire that person. They're going to give me bad vibes. So we're giving you an advice, you know, it's part of the process of the NFL draft. You have to present well. You do. You have to show that you want to be a part of this.
Starting point is 00:13:49 team, part of this organization, whatever it may be. All right. So with that said, again, major part of it, based on that, your worst interview experiences, I got two stories. With that said, though, how do you think this plays into the Shador Sanders thing? Because we heard the mixed messages of some saying, wow, way too cocky. This guy comes in here saying that I'm going to change the franchise. And then other people look at that and say, wow, that's the kind of leadership I want. Do you think that is more of a pro or con if you look at 32 teams? What percentage do you think that's a good thing? And would you think it's a good thing?
Starting point is 00:14:21 Do you have a bunch of veteran leaders there already where it's going to rub them the wrong way? Do you have a young team that needs leadership? And if you have a young team that needs leadership, he might be that guy you need. And therefore you appreciate the swag and confidence that he comes with. So, again, it's case by case. I do appreciate it if we're in need for it. So I got two stories. One I mentioned not too long ago.
Starting point is 00:14:47 Rich and I were up for a morning show gig in New York City. Big time major opportunity. And he was a new program director at the time. And he hit us off with the weirdest question. And based on the question, really determined the vibe and outcome of the interview. Station got taken off the air in a year and we would have lost our job. But yeah, so it worked out to our benefit. But he's like, oh, you guys are living in L.A. now, huh?
Starting point is 00:15:14 L.A., you guys are West Coast guys. well, you want to come back to New York. I got one question for you. I'm like, all right. He goes, is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, but I swear to God. Can we know what he said?
Starting point is 00:15:27 This played a factor. This played a major factor. He goes, do you like Chalula or Tapatio? He's like, you're Mexican, right? I said, yeah, part. He's like, so is it Chalula or Tapatio? And I didn't know what to say.
Starting point is 00:15:41 I'm like, oh, no. What do I say? They're both good. I said, and I, I said, And I worked at Beniggins years ago, right? And we served Chulula, so I've always liked Chulula is slightly better than Tappato. So I said, they're both good. Chalula, you know what this guy said?
Starting point is 00:15:56 Wrong answer. And you know what? The interview was all downhill after that. And he basically walked us out. We never heard back from the guy. If I said, Tapatio, we may have got the gig. I think that story has gotten out of hand. I think it's gotten out of hand in your own mind.
Starting point is 00:16:14 But I'm telling you, because I felt like I lost the. of the million dollar question. That actually saved you in the long run. In the long run, it did. I do think, however, there are times where someone just wants, like, I think that answer might be to decide. You are decisive. Like, if you're like, I can't decide.
Starting point is 00:16:29 That's the wrong answer. No, but if I said Tapatio, the guy would have got out of his seat, high-fied me, and now we're best friends and we're vibing in a totally different way. He made me feel like a loser. Hold on. You're leaving out, like, Tabasco and Crystal and, like, Louisiana hot sauce. He didn't give me those options. Right?
Starting point is 00:16:44 You know, that's all it was. That was the weirdest thing. By the way, can't tell you, a question like that in an interview would make a guy like Iowa Sam's head spin off. I know. Because I love all those. But Iowa Sam. I can only, I can't pick one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Why not both? Yeah. You should have said, why not both? Corn and the flower. You ever see one of those, like in a movie or TV show where someone's like, the next words out of your mouth better be like yes or no. Sam would be like, but what about? Yeah. You failed the interview process.
Starting point is 00:17:13 All right. Indecisive. Get out of here. All right. The other story is this, and I think there's a lot of people nationwide that might remember something similar. Similar, okay? Oh, man, I thought of another one. I got two, but I'll give you one.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Remember when we were all looking for that summer job before we kicked into career mode? You're looking for a summer job? Yeah. On every telephone poll growing up, it was like, if you want to make $30,000 to $60,000 in the summer, call this number, and you ripped a little tag off, I actually did that. And I ended up, you know, getting an interview. And I was so pumped about it. And I put my oversized suit on. I was like, oh, I'm going to go there.
Starting point is 00:17:48 And I sat in this crappy office with wood panels and crappy awards all over to place. And like, yeah, you seem like the kind of guy we need. You're a go-getter. You know, he's like, you're hired. I'm hired to do what. And he's like, come back tomorrow. I'm like, I guess I got a job. I came home all proud to my parents.
Starting point is 00:18:07 I got a job making $60,000 in the summer. I went back. You got a job, man. They're like, come back tomorrow. I came back the next day. Like, all right. here's these knives. They start cutting work boots and they're like,
Starting point is 00:18:18 they're called Cut Co knives, and you're going to go door to door and sell these knives, but you've got to pay for all these knives to sell another thing. Like, what? I'm not as, I'm selling knives. I don't want this stupid job. I wasted two days on this.
Starting point is 00:18:32 So that's another one. And how many of us fell into some sort of pyramid scheme thing? Or what was the name of that company that they tried to get you to work for when you were in college all the time? Oh. It was those pyramid scheme things. And you had a couple people to sign. up under you.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Yeah. I was like, no, but that happened to everybody, everybody, because I guess we're all vulnerable trying to make a buck. Does everyone have one friend in high school or college that sold knives? My parents owned the set of knives because they felt bad by buddy Jeff Cutco. And by the way, I hear they're great, but I wasn't trying to cut a work boot or a penny just to make some money during my summer. I have a high school friend who still does that.
Starting point is 00:19:09 And on his Facebook page, he's always bragging about all the trips he's taking and everything. He calls himself the Knife King. Dude, see, now I feel like I blew it. I swear. You know what? You could have been Knife King. You could have been a lot of things, you know? You've watched late night television.
Starting point is 00:19:21 There's like cutlery corner that always comes on. Like it's like paid programming. And some guys like cutting through all these different things. Why do I need to cut through a work boot? I'm not going to eat a work boot. Pro, what was that Ponzi scheme thing that went on in our college days? Everyone was trying to get you in. It had like a binder full of this guy and you work for this guy and then under this guy.
Starting point is 00:19:41 I feel like there's a lot of young women. Like herbal supplements or something? I feel like there's a lot of young women that sell like makeup products. Like, yeah. But one of our old coworkers, like bamboozal Kavino and like, oh, I'll buy for my girlfriend. Don't you still buy products of this woman? Yeah, yeah, that's true. Oh, Rich, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:56 Herbal life was a big one. Herbal life was a, yeah. Yeah, but again, it's part of like you're being duped during this interview and you think your life's going to change. So weird interview moments. As a guy who did interviews, right? I'll never forget this. And it's just a weird thing. It goes back to what Rich was saying before.
Starting point is 00:20:12 It's a body language thing, right? It's like, how bad do you want to be here? To me, if you're in an interview, and if Shador Sanders is interviewing with the Giants or whoever, dude, he takes his jacket off. He sits there real eager and excited about it. He's like, yeah, tell me more about the Giants. I want to be here and play for the Giants. You got to show some sort of enthusiasm, right?
Starting point is 00:20:31 I remember interviewing a guy, and Rich knows the story. He kept his coat on the whole time. He kept his scarf on. The whole time. So he looked like he was Bobby the Brain Heenan with. And it wasn't like as. It wasn't a stylish scarf. It was like a bundled up scarf up to his neck, up to his chin.
Starting point is 00:20:49 And the whole time he was like this. Yeah, like all stiff. And I'm like, can this guy relax? To me, it showed he didn't want to be here. And I'm like, yeah, you're not getting the job. Speaking of him not wanting to be there. I have audio. This came to mind when we were brainstorming this topic this morning.
Starting point is 00:21:05 I was thinking of the two of you in the same room interviewing with somebody together at the same time. And this came to mind right here. Listen. Well, Brennan, you certainly have had a lot of. Jobs? I'm a bit of a spark plug and human resources lady. Oh, you know, it's actually, it's Pam. I'm sorry. Well, Pan. No, my name is Pan.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Pan. Are you saying Pan? Or Pam? I'm saying Pam. Yeah, I'm sorry. Who's this gentleman sitting behind you? Hello, Miss Lady. I'm Dale. I'm Brennan's stepbrother. And I think I might be able help with a Pan Pam dilemma. Yeah, that'd be great. Pam. Pam. Pam. Pam. With an M.
Starting point is 00:21:46 There's no D. It's Pam. It's like calm. Here, it's P. P-A-N-M. M. P-A-M. 2 M.
Starting point is 00:21:53 That was the confusion. No, there's just one M. You know what that reminds me of it? It reminds me that I have to watch Stepbrothers. I haven't watched it in years. I'm overdue. Such a classic. And by the way, don't you wish you could watch the interview process like sometimes to see how and why things maybe didn't pan out?
Starting point is 00:22:09 Pant? Pam. Pam. Pam. Pam. Pan, pan, bam, panned out. I think this is D. If anything, if you get anything from the stupid spin we're putting on this, guys,
Starting point is 00:22:21 it's the importance of the interview process. You could be the greatest athlete in the world, but maybe you were just a terrible interview. And again, if you're going to be the face of a team or a franchise, you've got to be able to represent, man. You have to have some sort of ability to represent and interview and present in a good way. I'll compare it to something else very important in life.
Starting point is 00:22:42 because of what we do in the nature of us, just having the ability to chat, it's like a first date. I was always a good, I was always a tremendous first date. Maybe a terrible second date and a terrible third date and so on. But it's like a first date. A job interview is a first date.
Starting point is 00:22:58 It's leaving a good impression. And maybe that's, maybe there's more reason, more than meets the eye, as to why certain things didn't happen. A lot of these players like, oh, why didn't he go there? Why didn't they get him?
Starting point is 00:23:10 Maybe he was a terrible first date. You know, so these are things we never truly really know the details of. But worst interview stories. Well, just know that if your team chooses someone peculiar or they pass on someone, it can very well be that. Or bad. During a very important time, during the combine, during the interviews that this player rubs someone the wrong way.
Starting point is 00:23:31 There could be someone super talented that you're like, yeah, I'm not feeling this person. Now, there's a test that I think Iowa Sam would pass because I know he is a man of integrity. say Iowa Samuel are I mean he's definitely a man are a man of many things yes bored up producer I was Sam he can't pick just one I saw there's a few executives that said they do something called the coffee cup test and I feel like you would pass this what they do is they interview someone it's morning usually so they'll they almost like insist upon like yeah let's go the kitchen and get a coffee and you know whatever the company has like oh someone brought in donuts you go in for the interview and the whole test is really, do you clean up after yourself?
Starting point is 00:24:14 Are you the A-Hull that's like that you leave the empty coffee cup in the boss's office? No. Are you the person that's like, I'll throw it out, let me get yours too. It's almost a test. It's almost like the shopping car test. Like, do you return your car? Like, if someone offered you Kavino, we went out with a big executive and they offered your cup of coffee and you left, but you left your empty, dirty cup of coffee on their desk.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Well, if you don't think that people in charge who are in charge of making these important decisions, aren't taking note of that. I think everybody's wrong. You know, they're trying to see what type of man you are in this situation. What type of leader are you? What kind of example are you going to set and be? I remember, I'm never going to remember. So maybe it's worthless to bring up. But there was a draft story where someone went out. It might have been a free agent acquisition. And someone was rubbed the wrong way by the player not making eye contact with the server or like talking down to the busboy
Starting point is 00:25:10 to the point where I remember it was a free agency or draft or something and it blew the... They were like, we don't want them anymore. We don't want them. Like they got the... From a dinner, they assessed like... Yeah, but...
Starting point is 00:25:22 Doesn't it make sense? Don't you make those assessments? If I was on a date with a woman that talked down to a server, it's over. So imagine you investing... Imagine if you were investing millions and millions of dollars into somebody.

Starting point is 00:27:05 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about, what we should call it. We were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes.
Starting point is 00:27:21 I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Starting point is 00:30:55 Hey, it's me, number one draft pick, Steve Kavino, coming out to my return of the Mac. Yeah. Number one draft pick. Get out of here. 174th pick. He does a fifth rounder at best. No, man. 69th pick, bro.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Steve Kavino. And for over 40 years, Tyre Rack has been helping customers find the right tires for how what and where they drive. So join the live chat and enjoy episode 89 brand new with KFC right after this show on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. I'm Steve Kovino throwing it back on a Thursday with my member's only jacket. Am I the only member, Rich? As far as I know. You know what their slogan is, by the way, I love it. Their slogan, when you put it on, something happens.
Starting point is 00:32:28 I'm still waiting to see what that is, but we'll find out. Wow. And yeah. And that's Rich Davis. But right now, because of the draft day importance. Yeah. I think we often rely primarily on, well, what happens on the field. But what happens off the field is really important.
Starting point is 00:32:48 And that's the interviewing process. What type of man are they? What type of person are they? Well, that's a great leader. Do people respect them? Do they present well? Forget the draft. It also applies to free agency in sports more than ever, right?
Starting point is 00:33:00 Everything, man. Teams are. First dates. That's just life. but it's uberly important when you got millions of dollars invested in somebody. I think free agency is interesting because that's a two-sided debate. That's a two-sided interview. The teams are assessing the guy and the guy is assessing the team.
Starting point is 00:33:17 So you got both sides of the coin now. Danny, you said you had a funny hypothetical from a job interview you were on? Yeah, I wonder how you guys would have handled it. It was my very first radio interview at a commercial radio station. I was in high school. So I'm so excited to get this interview. Guy calls me in. he's the afternoon drive DJ of the station and the program director.
Starting point is 00:33:36 So he interviews me during his shift while he's on the air. And some of it, I think he was showing off while he was on the microphone. So I'm standing there watching him and he's, you could tell he had a pack of cigarettes. He was one of those dudes to smoke to get the nice radio voice. And he's like, KMIX. And he's on the mic doing the whole thing. Turns the mic off, turns, swivels his chair around. He's like, so that's how it's done.
Starting point is 00:33:57 And he's showing me the equipment. That's how it's done. He's showing me the equipment and he shows me how he queued up the next song. So he goes to a commercial break after that song. He walks out. He tells me, I'll be right back. I'm going to take a quick smoke break. So I'm in there by myself and I'm a teenager. I'm looking around in the studio like, man, this is amazing in here. The commercials are going. Commercials are going. He's not back. So I'm sticking my head out into the hallway like, where is this guy? Where is this? That's how he done. He does not come back. The last commercial
Starting point is 00:34:28 stops. There's dead air. And I'm like, what do I do? So I went, I hit the button to play the little announcement for the name of the station, and I started the song, the way I saw him do it. He calmly comes walking back in
Starting point is 00:34:45 a minute later and he says, not bad, could have been a little tighter though. You passed a test. Wow. That's a risky move, dude. For real, right? Afternoon drive on a big radio station scared the living,
Starting point is 00:34:58 you know what out of me. I can imagine, dude. Especially for a high school kid, you don't know what to do in that situation, man, that was a solid move. You know, I once had a boss when I first started a radio. It was a very casual interview. He said to me, all right, before I hire you just got to promise me he won't sleep with anyone in the studio. Trusay, he said that.
Starting point is 00:35:16 I go, yeah, yeah. He goes, look me in the eyes and say it. And I had to tell him. HR violation. Well, I mean, it was a different time, Sam. It was the, you know, 2000s. They're all my ex-girlfriends, so don't sleep with any of them. He goes, listen.
Starting point is 00:35:28 You can't, he didn't even use the word sleep with. He was a little more vulgar. You're not going to blank any girls in the studio, right? He said make whoopee, yes. Wow. So what here was this? Wrapping it up, O2. With your phone calls, worst interview story or just funny interview story,
Starting point is 00:35:47 87799 on Fox. We got Kent in Maine. Hey, Kent. Kent, you're on the show. Gentlemen. What's up, buddy? At first, I don't know if you were referring to this a little while ago, but I know when I was in college there was like this college painting.
Starting point is 00:36:06 company scheme that was always going around trying to get a bunch of people to like put together these painting crews for like painting houses over the summer and that was kind of like one of those pyramid scheme type things you know what i was thinking of man and thanks for calling and it it's all the same sort of thing you're all excited about this opportunity and you you sit through this boring interview process and you think you're going somewhere and then you realize it's some sort of Ponzi scheme or whatever amway was one of them amway and what was the other one, Rich,
Starting point is 00:36:39 that Jaime hit us up with? Oh, hold on. Primerica. Primaria. Yeah. So, yeah, there was all these things you're like,
Starting point is 00:36:45 oh, man, you're going to make a million bucks. I applied once for topless maids, and they were like, we only want women. I was like, oh, sorry. So thank you, buddy.
Starting point is 00:36:55 Let's go to Jordan in Toronto. Hey, what's up, guys? Hey, buddy. So I'm in my very young 20s. is a couple of years after 9-11, and I'm working at a run-a-car company call center, and I got like a nice red mohawk, you know, really, really rising high off the 90s,
Starting point is 00:37:18 but in a really crappy workplace. Yes. And I had an interview to become a supervisor there, and I would have been 15, 20 years younger than most of them there. And the manager's like, do you think I'm seriously going to hire someone? somebody looks like you. Like, how can I take you seriously?
Starting point is 00:37:37 Like, how can you motivate people to work here and get them to their jobs? And I was like, because people are money. Like, no one's waking up in the morning going to school saying, oh, I can't wait to work in a call center for the rest of my life. Like, you get his straightens life. You know, Vince McMahon would have hired you to be the Red Rooster. Yeah, there you go. Thank you, Camino.
Starting point is 00:37:57 You saved that. Red Mohawk. Yeah, man. And then when the call center didn't work out, I became a wrestling. That's a story. But thank you. Who else we got? I appreciate the feedback, even if
Starting point is 00:38:10 storytelling is not your thing. All right, Dave and Rorgan, what's up, Dave? Hey, Dave. When that's nonsense, how you doing, boys? What's up, buddy? Hey, man, I got a different take. Here's the one where the interview went well, but then when you showed up for the job,
Starting point is 00:38:29 which was a great company, all of a sudden you're going, man, I don't want to do this. Yeah, that's the word. Yeah. I felt that way. That's how I got into radio. I interviewed for like to work at a PR firm, not Puerto Rican, public relations.
Starting point is 00:38:43 Mm-hmm. And I remember being like, everyone's wearing a suit. And it's like very like, I don't know, businessy. And then I went to a radio station. It seemed like everyone's having fun. And that's, you know, I remember being like, yeah, I'm going to leave this job now. Radio's calling. All right.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Moncie, let's go to you for an update. Monty, by the way, do you have any fun interview stories? Whereas everyone was like, oh, she's a delight. Hire her on the spot. Yeah, when I was 18, I was interviewing for my first job to be working at BJ's restaurants, you know? Like I was, I just graduated. Never had a job. And then the guy literally flirted with me, thought I was cute.
Starting point is 00:39:18 And I got a serving job with no experience. You know what? No experience. You know what, Moncie? I don't blame you because when you worked at restaurants, you know what guys always thought? They told guys, you can't be a waiter yet. You have no experience. Right.
Starting point is 00:39:32 It would always be a cute girl that started and immediately a waitress. And that was you. Yeah, that was me. And I was like, hey, listen, I'd rather make tips right away than be a host. So I'll take it. I'll take it. All right, guys, we're going to start in the NBA because it was just announced that Cavaliers, Evan Mowgli has won the 2024, 2025 NBA defensive player of the year.
Starting point is 00:39:51 No, Draymond Green. Evan Mowgli has won it. Other NBA news here, Kobe Bryant's Lakers debut jersey, the first one he ever wore. He wore it for Media Day. He wore the first one sold for $7 million at Sothebyes. The jersey was actually sold at an auction in 2012 for only $115,000. Now $7 million. That's pretty impressive.
Starting point is 00:40:14 It is pretty impressive. $150,000 to $7 million? Yeah, right? Like about 13 years after the fact, not too shabby. One game going on in baseball right now, Royals, Rockies, it's the second of the double header. Oils are up to zero, top of the fifth inning. The Giants just topped the Brewers, 6 to 5. Now, for over 40 years, Tyrax has been helping customers find the right tires for how, what, and where they drive, ship fast and free, back by free.
Starting point is 00:40:36 Road hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. TireRack.com, the way tire buying should be. The draft, about an hour and 20 minutes away. Ashton Genti is wearing bedazzled crocs. I feel like I could see one of you wearing that. Absolutely. Yeah, rich. Now, that's rich all day.
Starting point is 00:40:55 I can feel like you're wearing that. Travis Hunter is wearing a hot pink. Blazer, I love it. Also, apparently Roger Goodell has three cards for Travis Hunter, one as a wide receiver, one as a defensive back, and one for both, and it depends. Whoever drafts him will decide what card Roger Goodell is going to read. So he has three cards right now. Lastly, Shador Sanders has...
Starting point is 00:41:17 Pick a card, any car. Yeah, Shadour Sanders has a custom room for the draft tonight. You can see it on the Colorado Buffalo's Instagram or other social media, but he has a custom room, and one of them has all the hats. for the teams. So whatever team picks them, he can just grab the hat. But a custom made room for tonight's NFL draft, which is at 8
Starting point is 00:41:37 Eastern. He could have had a green screen. He could have been in outer space if you wanted to be. Does he seem like a green screen type of guy? I mean, but he could have been. It saved a lot of money. Imagine that. The first person drafted in outer space. No, he doesn't want that. Back to you guys. Thank you. Yes. All right, Moncie.
Starting point is 00:41:53 Have a great draft night. You too. Go Clippers. Did you see Jackson Dard? I think he was on Saturn. here I am, poolside. Again, a lot of the players decided to not go to Green Bay and decided to stay home. So we're going to see a lot of that. Now, listen, Danny J., one of the many Raiders fans that I've talked to today that say they are scared that for the second year in a row, who they have their eyes set on, can it get swooped out right from under them?
Starting point is 00:42:23 Last year, it was, oh, Michael Panix Jr. will drop to the Raiders. wrong. Damn you, Falcons. But the negative turned into a positive with Bowers falling into their lap. Of course. I mean, you got Brock Bowers. But now a lot of Raiders fans are like, oh, man, the running game will get Genty. I've been asking for Genty since December
Starting point is 00:42:41 on our network because the Raiders missed Josh Jacobs so badly last year. But now the news of the Jags wanting to make a splash and an impact player, who are they talking about? Come on. And you know what? The Raiders even put out on social media, like the wide eye emoji, like, oh.

So KFC barstool in about nine minutes.
Starting point is 00:50:17 All right. Cof. Yeah, buddy. Hour and nine minutes from the NFL draft. And I know Danny said, Raiders won Gentie, the same way last year they wanted Michael Pennix, Jr. I have a clear visual of Danny G. Like cheering about Pennix Jr. Like,
Starting point is 00:50:34 got to get Penn. I feel like you wrapped up the show like a year ago today. I should. I did. Like Pennies. Yeah, let's go Pennix Jr. Yes, yes,
Starting point is 00:50:42 you're right. And I remember when it didn't happen, I felt so disappointed for you. But they got Brock Powers, right? So, you know, they worked out just as good. But, you know,
Starting point is 00:50:49 better. It's, uh, it is interesting because there's always a couple surprises draft night. Genty is who you want. A lot of speculation that the Patriots are going to try to make a or Jacksonville or one of the teams earlier than the Raiders, but we shall see.
Starting point is 00:51:04 I look at it this way. If you're a GM or an owner of a team or the coach, do you feel like, you know how they always say, what is a coach, what is a boss's worst job? And our boss is said it to us. Firing somebody. Firing someone's the worst, especially when it's not firing when it's a way off.
Starting point is 00:51:19 It's a happy and proud moment when you get to sign somebody and hire them and welcome them. It's a great moment, but the hard part is letting them go. The hard part is a coach or GM bringing someone in, saying, hey, we're going to have to let you go. Or you're sending you down to the minors. Or, hey, any corporate America job, like, hey, we're doing budget cuts. I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:51:37 We have HR on the line. But that's why you make the big bucks. You got to make those tough decisions. So what I'm thinking is tonight's the night. That's the opposite. The joy. Imagine you're a GM. I'm a Niners fan.
Starting point is 00:51:48 You don't think John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan, they have such pride and joy in saying, you have, hello? Yeah. 49ers want you. Like, you're making.
