It is a Thursday. Niners Seahawks tonight live in Los Angeles. It's the herd wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day. You know, last night I'm sitting there. And so I had to watch two baseball games. Didn't have to, but I wanted to. So I sat and watched two baseball games.

I opened up the side door to the outside balcony in my place. And I didn't eat dinner last. night, not interested. I didn't want to get full and tired. I wanted to stay up late. So, and I was watching the hurricane coverage. Some dear friends down in Naples and friends. I want to kind of watch all that stuff. Then I had to watch the baseball games, lit up a cigar, poured a cocktail, sat there for three or four hours.

It was big living. But what was, I really had an epiphany as I was sitting watching these games, and I was sitting there, and I was just devastating hurricane coverage, and it's like, you know what, man, you've got to be grateful. I felt so gutted all those people in Florida that have had hurricanes after hurricanes they're, you know, they had to leave town, bring out the credit card, you're paying at hotels, you go back, you could come home,

your house would be destroyed. I just made me sick to my stomach watching all that stuff. So, Godspeed to all the people in Florida that are dealing with this, there's people that care about you, that stuff was so hard to watch last night. and just it was be grateful be grateful and I know those people are but there's there's people coming back to their home and they're going to be missing loved ones the house is going to be destroyed devastating so Greg Kosell in about five minutes I want to bring this up so Caleb Williams and the Bears offense a couple of weeks ago before the

Rams game they went according to Jay Glazer they went to the coaching staff on offense and said, we're not a Pop Warner team. Give us stuff to do. Well, since that time, they're 2-0. Caleb Williams is completing 71% of his throws. They challenged them. He's a smart kid. 8.9 yards an attempt. No picks, pass a rating a 117.

So basically they were babysitting him, which I'm not against, but he went to Shane Waldron and just said, guys, load up the play sheet. We're not a Pop Warner team. Let's roll the dice. And it's worked. DJ Moore, who he loves throwing to. They had a great connection back of the end zone this week, said, yeah, Caleb's gotten a little bossy. It's amazing.

No, he's taking those strides that he needs to. He's been bossy lately, times that we need to be on the details. But we really do for him to be the best player he needs to be. By the way, Caleb Williams, when asked about the comments from DJ Moore saying he was bossy, said, I don't know, he sounds kind of sassy. leadership well go ahead play the bite I want to hear people you have to talk very definitely don't have certain people you can be a little bossy with certain people you have to talk very monotone and and control of yourself um all the time just people that you can just kind of lash out and i don't really lash out much it's not really my uh my vibe but um you know just just always coming

over to you know like guys when i kid um growing up a little bit being able to go over and talk to them understand, you know, how and what they need to hear. And then from there, moving on. So, Jaden Daniels looks like money. Caleb, last couple of weeks, looks very good. Bone Nicks now is on a little bit of a heater. Looks like we got three quarterbacks as rookies, and they're working. That's good for all of us.

Better the quarterback play, better the TV product, better the league. We talked about this. We said the NFC needs to hit on some of these quarterbacks. Because the AFC, you have C.J. Strouds a hit in Mahomes and Allen and Lamar and Burrow. The NFC, getting old and average a quarterback, they got a hit on some of these guys. It looks like Caleb's going to be a star. Jaden, Daniels. Michael Pennix, I think, has a chance to be really good.

Same with J.J. McCarthy. They're just not playing. They're behind McCarthy, obviously injured, but they're behind really capable veterans. With that, we go to Greg Kosell, 45 years. NFL Films is joining us. I want to start with Aaron, because everybody got up, I presume, and watched the Sunday game in London. And we said before that happened, we said Woody Johnson has been the ambassador of the UK. He's going to have all his billionaire buddies in the box.

If they don't win against Sam Darnold v. Exjet, it could be trouble. And then Solic gets fired. But one of the other things, and I through the years you and I think have talked about this either privately or on the air, Aaron, I can tell how Aaron's playing by his mood. I can't with Dak. I can't with Kirk Cousins. I can't. Dak did not play well in space or in Red Zone this weekend with the Steelers.

Didn't bother him in the final drive. Dak, very stoic, high EQ. Aaron, I can tell when he's thrown a pick. I can watch him and see him speed up to the O.C. So some of this stuff, we can blame Sala. But I've got to tell you, Greg, I think Aaron gets. it's breezy and casual, too much off the back foot. I don't love the way he's playing, but does the film disagree with that on Aaron's performance?

Well, this game, and again, I know the firing occurred and everybody's speculating. I don't do that. I watch the tape. The Vikings are a really difficult team to play against with their defense. They show you a lot of front looks. They show you seven-man fronts. So you have to protect. They show you a lot of late coverage rotation. The yards are hard to come by against this defense. Unless someone makes a mistake on the back end,

you do not get big plays in the passing game against this defense. They only had one pass play of more than 25 yards in the entire game. Now, Rogers made some really good throws in this game. Some were dropped. But the bottom line is he was under duress. They forced you to keep a running back into pass protect, so it limits the number of eligibles you can send out. Reese Hall's a great receiver.

They couldn't use them in that way in this game. So this is not a good litmus test game for judging either Aaron Rogers or the Jets offense. He still throws the ball beautifully. We know he got hurt in this game. He got hit an awful lot. The right tackle, the rookie Foshanu from Penn State is really struggling in one-on-one pass protection. I think he probably has to play for another week until Morgan Moses is healthy.

but this week just watching that tape that was a tough tough go for the entire offense and for Aaron Rogers let's talk Caleb Williams so jaden Daniels obviously playing well I'm a fan of bo-nicks he's getting more confident they're winning games kind of overachieving but it does feel like the last two weeks just the eye test that he his feet are better he's not as frenetic um I when I watch him he feels just calmer which you know the veteran guys all feel that but Kirk Cousins could be overtime. Kirk always looks under control. Caleb didn't in the first couple weeks.

So what are they doing? What is Shane Waldron doing to settle him down? His accuracy the last two weeks, Greg, is over 70%. Well, what they're doing, and the tape is really clear here, Colin, is they're really defining the reeds and the throws for him so beautifully, which is the job of the coaching staff. So in other words, you want to put your quarterback in a position where when he drops back, if you can do it, and obviously this all stems from probability and tendency in given situations,

understanding what the defense is going to show you and what route concepts will work against that tendency, that probability. They're defining it so clearly for him that they're giving him basically one read, maybe two at most, but one read so that it's clean. I mean, he hit some plays last week. The second touchdown to Moore was a beautiful example of that. We're looking at that right now where they really made it clean for him through the use of formation and through the route concepts. So you really want to define it as well as you can.

They've been doing a great job with that. It was particularly evident this week. And I'm sure they'll continue to do that because then you allow him to play decisively. You never want your quarterback feeling like he's stuck in the pocket with nowhere to throw the football. And the last couple of weeks, he's looked a lot cleaner in the pocket because I think he's felt that he knows where to go with the football. So Baltimore and Washington, it looks like for the time being and going forward, could end up being a juicy rivalry where you have the great Lamar Jackson and sort of Lamar Light. Maybe he's not Lamar Light, Jaden Daniels. They move.

This is a proud football-loving part of the country. So Lamar Jackson, last several weeks, we worried about the only. line, he is just fine. What's the film say? I got to tell you, Colin, I watched that tape this week, obviously, of Lamar versus the Bengals. And I'm watching this, and Lu Anorama, the Bengals, D.C., is doing so many different things. I mean, he emptied the bucket in terms of what he did with his fronts, with his pressures, with his coverages, with all the rotations, the different looks. And I thought Lamar Jackson was absolutely sensational.

You know, I've seen a lot of games, obviously. I've seen every Lamar game in the NFL, so I can't sit here and say it's the best I've ever seen him. He's obviously played a lot of good games. But I thought in this game, given what Luanorama was showing him and what he did throughout the game, because obviously in some ways it was kind of a must win for the Bengals, I thought Lamar Jackson was absolutely fantastic. It was as good that I can recall seeing him. He saw things well.

He threw the ball exceptionally well. he just looked absolutely terrific. Okay, Jaden Daniels, since week two on, has looked fantastic. I thought the O line for them was going to be an issue. When the quarterback's playing well, that doesn't look like a problem. Obviously, Jaden's terrific. Does he get a majority of the credit here? Is it somebody else or something else?

Well, here's something that really stood out to me. You know, normally when I watch tape, Colin, I don't look at stats before I watch tape. I watch the tape and if I notice something, then I'll see if statistics validate what I'm seeing. And I'm watching them over these last number of weeks and I'm seeing a lot of no huddle. And I'm thinking to myself, wow, that's really interesting. No huddle for a rookie quarterback because at some point with no huddle, the quarterback does have to be able to assess what the defense is. Yes, he can get the play, but then he's at the line of scrimmage. The defense can move.

The defense can change. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. But here's the deal. They've got the most no huddle snaps of any team in the league for a rookie quarterback. To me, that says an awful lot about his understanding of the game, his ability to see things the right way quickly. So Jane Daniels, besides the obvious physical attributes, is obviously a really intelligent player, and they're giving him a good amount of freedom. So I was one of those who said, I didn't like Daniel Jones being picked sixth.

I didn't like them doubling down with him. but I'm watching the last couple of weeks. And three weeks ago, I said on this show, don't sell your giant stock. This O line is actually really good. And I thought it totally controlled the Seahawks who were beat up on their defensive front. But beyond that, Daniel Jones isn't making the mistakes.

Remember his first two years, three years. It was fumbles constantly. It was bad throws. You know, Dayball has sort of coached the reckless out of him. It can't all be. coaching you have to have some capability here what is the film say on daniel jones and the giant's offense and i think it is a lot of coaching to some extent because one of the things

and colin you watch quarterbacks in great detail i know you do one of the things we used to see from daniel jones a lot was he'd get stuck in the pocket with nowhere to throw the football in his mind this past week and maybe for a week or so now we've seen where he drops back and the ball is coming out there's a sense of timing and rhythm to his game Daniel Jones is not a great throw over the football. He's not a great deep ball thrower, but short, short to intermediate, intermediate, he throws the ball very, very well.

And if you can really define it for him, in some ways it's similar to what's happening with Caleb Williams. If it's clean for him, if he can hit that back foot and feel that he knows where to go with the football and be decisive in the pocket, and obviously every offensive coordinator is trying to do this. Some do it better than others. But this past week against the Seahogs, he really looked comfortable playing the position. He did not get stuck in the pocket.

So Jordan Love comes into the season beat up. We pay attention to LaFleur and Malik Willis. It's still a very young team. We don't know if he's 100%, but he's playing. He's effective. I've always felt he's more far than Aaron. He can be a little loose. He's not quite as precise as Aaron.

But he's a gamer. He let it rip, and I like him. So, you know, let's look at the last four quarters, six quarters. Where are we with Green Bay's offense and Jordan Love today? Well, I really like what Matt LaFleur does with the offense. They're very creative. Their use of shifts and motions, the way they use Jaden Reed, who's their number one. Obviously, we're not going to talk about him as if he's Jamar Chaser Justin Jefferson.

But the way they use him, he's a big motion receiver. the way they've used the tight end craft has become a factor in their offense. He's a very interesting player. But just the way they deploy their personnel, I think, really helps Jordan Love. And you've nailed it. He can be a little reckless and undisciplined at times, but he's a high-level traits quarterback who can basically make every throw, and he's got mobility.

But it's just a very fun offense to have watched because they really do an excellent job of attacking and breaking down defenses with their shifts and their motions. So, you know, it's funny when, you know, certain quarterbacks throw a bad pick, like a Stafford or Mahomes, you know, we chalk it up to, hey, they're risk takers. We don't give a lot of other quarterbacks that benefit. Mahomes has thrown some stinkers this year. But I do feel like before Rishi Rice, they'd sort of established a number one receiver. And now they're kind of kind of trying to juju Smith Schuster, Kareem Hunt.

It's a little ham and egg in it, but it's working. but there's something about this defense. We know Chris Jones is like Aaron Donald's virtually unblockable. But after that, it's Bolton, it's good corner. Is Spaggs actually undervalued? Is this defense on film really what impresses you? Oh, the schematics and the tactics of this defense are phenomenal. The way they use pressures in given situations, third downs, high leverage critical situations,

There may not be a better blitz de-coordinator in the NFL than Spags when it comes to those situations. And the way he uses his defensive backs, Colin, as pressure players. I'm sure that they are number one or number two in the league in the use of defensive backs as blitzers. And he does such a good job. You take a player like Chamari Connor. People might not even know who he is. He's number 27. He's become such a valuable piece in their defense because he can blitz and he can do multiple things.

But that's where Spaggs is so good and where he shines, the ability to create pressure concepts that are very, very difficult to really see and pick up for the offense. Before we get to our play of the week, Jay Mack has said he's been right on this. He said, you know, you take out Nico Collins from C.J. Stroud. I've been saying you take out Joe Mixon, as good as C.J. is. Young quarterbacks. I mean, D'Andre Swift starts running effectively. Caleb Williams looks better. Right.

But take Nico Collins out of C.J. Stroud in the offense. How big of a negative hit is it? It'll be different. I mean, I love Stroud. I think that he's a phenomenal anticipation thrower. He sees it beautifully. He was unbelievable on third down last week against the bills, making some really big-time throws from the pocket. But they lose that vertical element now. And you're seeing it. They lose that because they'll probably play Xavier Hutchinson, a player I liked coming out of college. at Iowa State, but he's not a vertical dimension.

So they don't truly have a vertical dimension right now. So it'll be different. But, you know, Bobby Sloick is their offensive coordinator. He came from the Niners. The Niners didn't really have a true vertical dimension either. So he's aware of how to put together an offense and a past game without having that particular player. I think it'll look different, Colin, but I don't think that it'll be a big problem for

C.J. Stroud. So finally, what was your... reaction. We had him on the day after the 500-yard performance for Kirk Cousin. What was your initial thought? I thought it was one of the best performances I'd seen. I had a coach reach out to me

on Saturday morning, two days after, and say, he couldn't remember seeing such an incredible passing performance against the defense that was putting so much pressure on a quarterback. I mean, it was just a remarkable performance. We know what Cousins is. It took him a little

while this season to get back into it. He's an old-school quarterback in the sense that there's always going to be a place in the game for quarterbacks that can drop back, play from the pocket, throw it to the right receiver at the right time with the right kind of throw. We spoke about that with Jared Goff last week. You know, Cousins is that kind of quarterback. We're actually looking at a play. We just passed the play that I'm going to show, so we can certainly get to that play. Because this to me was a remarkable throw, and it was actually a throw that you normally don't ask your quarterback to make. So let's take a look at this was the touchdown to Mooney that we're taking a look at as our

play, and it was really interesting because the concept, the ball normally does not go to that receiver in this concept. So you're going to see cousins in the gun, and you're going to get trips to the wide side of the field. Three receivers, they're in a bunch look. Now, the The initial look here defensively is that it's man coverage. That's what it looks like initially. So let's talk about what the route concept is, because it's what we call dagger. So the inside receiver who's Mooney here, he's the point man in the bunch, I believe. He's going to run a vertical route, the inside vertical.

Then Hodge from the outside is going to run the dig underneath him. That's called dagger. That's the route concept. It's in everybody's playbook. But now what happens defensively? You're seeing the two deep safeties, but this is going to become not two-man coverage. It's going to become cover two. So the coverage look changes at the snap of the ball.

Now, you have to understand one thing here. The dagger concept, that is meant to be thrown to the dig. 99.9% of the time, that's where the ball is thrown in this dagger concept, to the dig route, not the vertical. But what does Kirk Cousin see? He sees the middle hole defender in cover two with his back turn. So given that he can be a very aggressive thrower, what he decides to do is to throw the vertical, which, as I said, you rarely ever throw,

and he sticks it right on Mooney. This was a big-time throw. It was an aggressive throw. You'll see it from here, this angle. Wow. This is a throw, like I said, you normally don't make, but he made it. He was obviously feeling it in this game,

but this is what Kirk Cousins is. he can play at a really high level from the pocket. Yep. Greg CoSell, 45 years NFL films, as always, Greg. Thank you. Thanks, Colin. Appreciate it. I love what he said about Lamar Jackson. That's as good as you can play the position. Now, Cincinnati's defense, blah, blah, blah, isn't great.

But I will say this. When's the last time Patrick Mahomes played that well in a singular game against just any game? I mean, Lamar Jackson has these. against Buffalo, against Cincinnati. Lamar, about every other week, every third week, has a game that Mahomes hasn't had in like a year and a half. I mean, Mahomes has had the last year and a half, very few, he's had spectacular moments.

Lamar is having these games against Cincinnati and Buffalo where it takes your breath away. Sorry for being negative. These are all regular season games. Go look at the playoff success. Look at what Mahomes is doing in January when it matters more. And I know I'm a Chiefs hater and I'm down on the Chiefs and I don't want them to win the Super Bowl. But one guy delivers in January and the other guy doesn't.

But we can't. I know Lamar is James Hardin. He's putting a massive numbers. And everybody loves James Hardin. Oh. And then it comes to playoff time and all you do is take shots at him for not showing up. But the difference is is Lamar is transformational every other Sunday. James Harden, and he's committed completely and passionate.

James Harden never committed to defense. You're not sure he's a great teammate. He's all offense. Like with Lamar, I get passion, intensity, work ethic, focus, production. He doesn't win in January. That's a check against him, but I get like nine checks with him.

Give me all the hardened checks. Selfish, not a great team player, won't play defense. Is he in good shape, bounced around the league? Offensively gifted, absolutely. And he has increased his distribution. over the last four or five years.

He's a willing passer. But I don't get, I get like one great thing. With Lamar, I get like nine boxes checked. The one that's open, win more in January. Okay, well, Elway didn't win Super Bowls for a long time. That's fair. And just to be clear, James Harden, like, I think it was like five years ago, right before COVID. He was putting up such historic offensive numbers.

We were like, this is the best offensive player since Michael Jordan. Yeah. Cotino Mowgli sat here and talked about it. But wouldn't play a lick on defense. He didn't play a ton of defense. I mean, all right, fine, you got me. James Hardin doesn't play defense. But I don't think, I think the comp works, you know, to some degree, it's like, okay, they were great here, but not there.

But with Lamar, if you're asking, when you don't have a quarterback and you go to the draft, you're basically trying to check a box. Are they all in? Are they passionate? Do they have a good work ethic? Are they athletic? Are they coachable? Like, there's eight boxes you're checking.

You know what you're not checking? Can he win in January? You don't know. Peyton Manning didn't win a lot in January until the end. That's not a box that you ask to check. You have to find that out. But all the boxes you would look for, which is, can he learn a system? Can he carry a team?

Will players love him? Is he a leader? Oh, he's all that. Check, check, check, check, check, check. The winning in January is situational. Who do you play? What's the quarterback? Who's your coach?

How many games is it situational for, though, Colin? I mean, we've got a, I know it's a small sample size. I think he's got six playoff games under his belt, and it's like, I don't see the greatness that I see in the regular season. Why is that? Okay. He's not winning the Masters as Tiger Woods is in his prime. Mahomes has a lot to do with it. Lamar can't get through the AFC.

Okay. He's like one in five against the Chiefs. Okay. Again, again, when you're in Michael Jordan's Prime, the Utah Jazz losers. Well, they were dominating the West. Come on. That's something. A little weak west, but with the Utah Jazz,

with like Jeff Hornacek is your third best player. I mean, come on. Listen, I like Lamar. I know the haters are going to be like, Jay, you're being mean. He is an awesome player. Cochelle broke it down. Like, Lamar is immensely talented. I just, I want to see it.

Right now he's my MVP. Okay, he goes, so he wins a third MVP award. You think he's going to be happy with that or does he want to win a Super Bowl? I think I would be happy with it. You would? Yeah, I'd like to win a Super Bowl. two, but when an MVP means, it's not like

baseball where it means a lot, but it means something. It's like me and my men's league. I don't mind if I don't score, as long as we win the championship. That's what I want. But you'd rather score and lose. No, no, no, no, that is incorrect. We've got a huge game tonight, by the way. I'll be watching.

No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. All right, because we haven't done enough Jets talk this week. More news emerged this morning. new interim coach Jeff Obrick taking over for Robert Sala, talked to reporters this morning and said that past game coordinator Todd Downing is the new play caller replacing Nathaniel Hackett.

Here's Obrick on the move. We all are familiar with the relationship he has with Nathaniel. And they're very, very good friends that go back a long way. He understood the decision and he was, he understood the decision and he was supportive of the decision. And I'm unfortunate for that. This is just more

confusing. Like, there was a report yesterday that Sala went in ready to replace Hackett as the play caller. And they fired Sala. So interim guy comes in, does what Sala was going to do. Why wouldn't you just keep Sala? I don't understand what the hell's going on, Colin.

I'm still flummoxed by this. Sala's defense played maybe its best game of the year. The team wins money. night they're in first place. The timing of it is bizarre. It just, so to me, you either think Woody Johnson

is a wacko or Aaron had a push. I mean, it just, even by Jet standards, Woody Johnson has never ever, I mean, when Adam Gase was struggling, it, it was disastrous. He didn't get his

side of the ball right. When Todd Boles was struggling, you're like, I'm not sure he's a head coach. Salah, you're like, the defense, last three years, is number one total in the league. His responsibility isn't the offense. We don't expect Tomlin. Tomlin gets a pass on the offense.

McDermott gets a pass. Pete Carroll gets a pass. We're expecting Robert Salon his first year to be some sort of Sven Ghaly with prickly Aaron Rogers in the offense. So he wasn't losing the locker room, Sala. No, they played their butts off. So why would you fire him? Because he, because Rogers hated him?

Well, that's the only logic. Why would you fire him because you had a call, you talked to Aaron. He doesn't have to signal a code red. Aaron didn't have to say fire him. There are things that are implied. Aaron could have said, I kind of feel like we're not holding players accountable. Well, you're not going to fire. Hack it for that.

But Aaron acknowledges they talked after the game. You don't have to order the code red. Sometimes it's understood. I'm, when you say things like, I worry about leadership and they're not holding people accountable, Woody Johnson gets what you're saying. Yeah. Like, so Woody wants to protect Aaron, and Aaron wants to protect Aaron, but it just doesn't make any sense that it would just be off that performance. That was a really good performance.

They had a shot to take the lead and win that game. It was Aaron who significantly under threw the receiver. So, I don't know what this says about me. me, Colin, but I'm already kind of over this whole damn season. I know they're playing for first place Monday. I get it. In my head, I'm trying to figure out how the Jets can get a good head coach. And I'm telling you, with Aaron Rogers as the quarterback, I don't think it's an attractive job.

See, that's what I think, is you can't take a job just because of the roster. If you go back and look at who is succeeding, you don't necessarily need great ownership. Damico Ryan's doesn't have good ownership. He's succeeding. Why? He got the quarterback and the OC right. So the Jets, you can't just blame Woody on this because you can win without the greatest owner. Woody's not as bad as Dan Snyder.

He's more well funded than Mark Davis or bid well in Arizona. So you can win, you've got to get the quarterback right. So that's my take. The quarterback situation, the New York Jets see that as a strength. And I don't. I think the strength of this team is their cornerback situation, corners, not quarter, and their defensive team. They have an all-pro linebacker, Quinn and Williams, Soss Gardner. That's the team.

Who does that appeal to? What coach is like, oh, hey, I can't wait to go coach that defense. That's not the NFL in 2020. You know who it appeals to? Mike Vrable. Oh, come on. Oh, Retred. I know Rable's really good.

I get it. I know he's awesome against the spread. Does a lot with little or did historically. I need young, innovative, smart, offensive guy. That's what I need. Give me a Mike McDaniel. Can we steal him from Miami? Really?

Here's the problem. Aaron Rogers is old. So you want to take the head coaching job and come in for one year with Aaron Rogers. Okay, so maybe you're a 500 team and then you're not drafting in the top five to get a quarterback. By the way, young and innovative doesn't work with Aaron Rogers. He wants control and comfort. This idea that Matt LaFleur was young and innovative. And Aaron wanted to control a big chunk of the offense.

And had the Packers do last year once Aaron left. Well, fine, yeah, exactly. You're good. You're trying to sell me on young and innovative. Aaron doesn't want that. I don't care what Aaron wants. I want young and innovative. That's what's smart around the league, isn't it?

Look at LaFleur. He's got the team of title contention. I think New York's media, fan base, noise, young and innovative can get swallowed up. Mike Vrable, not going to get swallowed up by New York. That's fair. He's also not going to win a lot. Anyways, uh... Damn it.

Let's go to the Cowboys, Colin. Big road win over Pittsburgh early Monday morning. It wasn't even Sunday night. It was after midnight. Now they got their work cut out against the well-rested lions coming off a buy. Dallas 3 and 2 somehow, but their losses have come at Jerry World. And D.C. Mike Zimmer knows how big of a challenge it'll be to stop Detroit's high-powered offense. That's not only them.

It's an offensive line they have. It's really, really good. And they do a good job in scheming and getting guys reach. and cut off, and then these bags can really hit the whole good. So, again, it'll be a really good test for us. And, you know, hopefully we can continue to just keep getting better and better and better as the season goes on. Lines come down to minus three.

Yeah. Very tasty line at minus three. Well, you've got to wonder, what are people seeing in the Cowboys? Now, Micah Parsons is listed as questionable. He may play. Bland, the cornerback, has a chance to play for Detroit. Ragnow, the center who missed the Seattle game, looking like he's trending toward playing.

So things are looking up for both sides, health-wise. The Lions run the ball well and control the clock. The Cowboys don't defend the run. Okay. That's it? Well, I think that when that's the case going into any game, I'm going to control the line of scrimmage. Dallas does not defend the run.

Detroit runs really well. That feels like the game to me. I like when you mention the coach quarterback situation. Who's got the edge in the coaching quarterback here? Dan Campbell or McCarthy and Jared Gough and Dach. It's a draw. And then you look at the rest of the rosters, and I think big edge to Detroit. Yes.

And Detroit's a fast team on a fast track indoors. Well, look at who the Cowboys have had success against. Justin Fields, Wash Deshawn Watson. How'd they do against Lamar? Or one of the early games with Derek Carr, humming. Well, listen, we got to admit that Detroit secondary is not very good. That's the only thing that worries me. They play a lot of man.

We know Dak can carve up the man. I mean, Gino Smith threw for, what, 375? No, no, no, no. My big concern, and I think this is going to be the undoing of Detroit, and why they won't hoist a trophy. It's like having a bad bullpen. You can outplay a team. If you can't get them out in the eighth and ninth inning, ask the Phillies.

It's over. So the bottom line is Detroit is going to have leads and outplay people. And they're going to lose games because Gino Smith had 38 first down. I mean, did you watch Gino Smith against the Giants defensive front last week in Seattle? Gino Smith couldn't do anything. He was, Gino looked like Barb and his prime against Detroit. I do like Hutchison against that offense, both of the tackles. It was a big edge for the Steelers.

Go back and look when Herbig goes out, the defensive edge guy, opposite Watt, like the Steelers defense kind of fell apart. I think Hutchison could be in line for a big game. I'm riding with the Lions, but there's a lot of respected money on Dallas here, Colin. Is this place at five for you? Right now, it's in the five. Because I haven't heard you mentioned too many games yet this week. Oh, I've got a couple tasting ones.

Final story is the big clash in the NFC West tonight. Seahawks hosting the Niners. Seattle in first at three and two. Gino leads the NFL in passing yards. That's an interesting nugget. First place on the line, Mike McDonald is confident in his quarterback saying Gino is a bright spot on our football team. We're going to be leaning on

him. I don't like to hear leaning on Gino Smith. I just don't like that. It's circumstantial. When he faces a weaker defense, he's very good. When he faces an excellent defense, he struggles. The Giants,

well-coached, excellent defense at front, he struggled. Detroit, vulnerable in the back end. He was phenomenal. Played with a ton of confidence. So the Niners are somewhere in between. Their defense, I don't think it's as good as the New York Giants. It's much better, I believe,

than Detroit. It's funny, Detroit keeps addressing the secondary. It just doesn't get better. I mean, it's like, sometimes teams draft better. They draft really well. But, I mean, they've solved all their offensive issues very quickly. They've been trying to fix this secondary,

it feels like, for four years. Hey, by the way, if the Jets lose Monday, call the Jets to make an offer for DJ Reeve. He's a free agent this coming off season. That is a good call. And Aaron Glenn is Former Jet Corner. By the way, that is a great call. I'm just trying to get the Jets' draft picks so we can reboot this bad boy because it's looking bleak. That is a really good. I think, you know, DJ Reed's going to be, somebody did a list of the top free agents.

He's like number four in the NFL or four or five. He's a great player. He's very talented. Very good player. So, I don't know. Who do you have tonight? Niners favor by three and a half? You got a play.

A play a stay away game. If it's three, I'd take San Francisco. I think San Francisco wins, but the hook, I'd stay away. I'm a little chalky. I'm on the over as well. I like the Niners. 30, 23-ish. That's about it, yeah. J-Mac with the news. Well, that's the news.

I'm going to take Iowa at home minus three number one rushing offense in the conference. They'll dominate time of possession. Washington's in a rebuild offensively. They're young. They've struggled on the road. The Rutgers name was embarrassing. Washington's lost two of their last three against unranked opponents, the Cougars and Rutgers.

This is a team that will play well in spots at home. They're young, but Iowa dominates time of possession. I'll lay the three. I'm with you on Iowa. I'm running hot on these Big Ten picks the last few weeks. I like Iowa. There are some numbers out there, these Big Ten teams that have the cross-country travel, not going well for them, and I think I have two of those today, but I'm with you on Iowa favor by three. I'm going to take the over 40 on Minnesota and UCLA. First of all, UCLA gets their quarterback back, but this is a Minnesota team and a UCLA defense that is awful against the pass.

Minnesota playing with confidence can run the football, and I think in this spot we'll throw the football. The Bruins, I think, will be game. They'll play competitively. They get their quarterback back. It'll be a close game. I like Minnesota to win. But I do think in this spot,

Minnesota will be able to score some points. All right, I touched on it earlier this week. Give me the Trojans and Lincoln Riley at home getting five. I did sprinkle just a little bit on the money line. I think they can win this outright. This is a tough travel spot for Penn State. Kitchen sink defensive effort from USC. You can't lose this game.

Go down swinging. Give me the Trojans getting five. I'm taking the Oregon Ducks plus the field goal. Great at home. Their quarterback's completing 78% of his throws. Ducks have won 34 of 35. five at home. By the way, Ohio State lost four of their last six games against top 10 opponents, including the last two. Ohio State can shrink a little in these big pressure games. They are

the big dog. They're favored. I will always take points with Oregon at home. I also think they have their O-line right. Two NFL quarterbacks. I'll take the one at home. All right. Well, we're going head to head. Give me Ohio State and the Buckeyes. Going into enemy territory and getting the dub. I'm just going to say, Jeremiah Smith, the young receiver, the freshman. I know a lot of people know about it. This is going to be like a Randy Moss-type game from him. Everybody in the country is going to know how good this kid is.

I think Ohio State wins. Colin, crazy stat. Both these teams have been favored by, I think, 13 or more in every game this season. I love Ohio State here. Give it the Buckeyes. Best team in the country. Sorry, Texas. Well, I think, yeah, I think Ohio State's going to play for the national championship.
