You know, we, today's a day, Joel Klout, we got a lot of big stuff to talk about. USC, UCLA, Sark struggling, Brian Kelly's crushing, Ohio State, Michigan in one week, the college football playoff rankings. We got a lot to talk about. This next two weeks in college football, it's the world order all up for grabs.

A lot of people. USC totally controls their destiny. They totally control it. Win out, beat USCLA, beat Notre Dame, you're in the Pac-12 championship. Boom. They're getting in if they win. I don't know if they will. Jason McIntyre is joining us.

He is a huge college basketball fan and a college football fan. I'm a gigantic college football fan that likes March Madness. If I could say to you, just for as a college basketball fan, as a consumer. What would be the perfect college football playoff? The four teams. Georgia one, Michigan, two? Just for the consternation for Ryan Day and Ohio State's community.

USC3, TCU4. So you get TCU, Georgia. Georgia will smoke them, obviously. I like it. And then USC Michigan or USC Ohio State, whatever, whichever one you want. And I think USC is going to be a live, live against either of the big 10 teams, because their offense is a machine. It's very exciting.

So I want to talk about this. Before the season, JMAX said, keep your eye on the Sacramento Kings. As a general rule, I try to never keep my eye on the Sacramento Kings. But they beat Katie and the Brooklyn Nets last night, 153, 121, and whatever.

But there were some, according to reporters, people trust, and I trust, there are some issues inside the building. Shock. Brooklyn's a mess. Stop me if you've heard this before. But according to like Woz and Sham Sharanya, this is the athletic.

Sham Sharana Sam Amic. My bad, Sam Amic. According to multiple sources, frustration surrounding Ben Simmons. It's been building in recent weeks within the organization. Coaching staff players concerned about his availability, his level of play, his passion for the game. Even when he did play, Simmons struggled in his first nine games, he's part of the net's frustration as well. this is deep on this stuff, continues on about they've had private meetings with players.

Here's the thing that's interesting to me. People show you who they are very early. Just believe them. Just believe them. Owners in the NBA, GMs in the NBA, coaches in the NBA, get into trouble when they think they're therapists. Some dudes are broken way before you get your hands on them. This stuff goes deep.

It's childhood deep. Janice, day one in this league, hungry. He was probably that kid that outworked everybody at eight. LeBron James, very early, day one in the league, obsessed, committed to winning. Michael Jordan, day one in this league, relentless. Won the best shooter, won the best ball handler. He's the most relentless player I've ever seen. Tim Duncan, day one in this league.

Fundamentally, rock solid, a great teammate, all about winning. Kauai Leonard, first day in this league. A little odd. Magic Johnson, first day in this league. Massive personality. Elevate others. Big smile, big personality. Ben Simmons, day one in this league.

Aloof. marginally interested. Ego. We saw it at LSU. You get into trouble in the NBA when you think you can fix broken. Can't. The basketball culture in America is about spotting talent

and often coddling it. It's hard to hard coach guys in college when they're only there for a year and it's a sweepstakes to just try to land them before they jettison college for the pros. this stuff, I mean, he's uninterested, he's passive, he doesn't appear to be overly

coachable, but the time you get an athlete, a pro athlete, he's 19, 20, 21 years old. You're not a therapist. Some guys are just I mean, remember Royce White had a fear of flying. It was like he told you. I felt bad for the guy. That was his thing.

Well, we're going to fix it. How? So, you know, Daryl is very smart in Philadelphia. Philadelphia. He was looking for a year for a taker. Anytime you got a lot of talent, the minute he found his sucker. And it's always somebody wants to buy a bad stock.

I got nothing against Ben Simmons, but you're trying to fix broken. Like I've seen this since college at LSU. All right. Listen, Clat better be ready because there's a lot to talk about. We bring on the voice of college football, this network. Joe Kla. What's up? What is up?

I don't know if you caught my opening rant, did you? I mean, I did. Yeah, I had some people text me about it. Yeah, I'd call it sublime if I had to use a word. Well, but you have another layer on it because we talked briefly in the makeup room. I myself don't need makeup. Like a couple of men in the makeup room conversating, right? But I said to you, you know, LSU and U.S.

are different than even good jobs. Really good jobs. Sure. But you pointed out something about why Brian Kelly and Lincoln Riley may be crushing it, and I thought it was fascinating. Well, when you look around the country right now, what you're seeing is that there's two things happening. One is that the cycle in college football is shortening.

The window and the cycle of college football is shortening because of the transfer portal and because of NIL. So it's no longer a three-year cycle where, you know, you need two or three years to get good and get your guys. It now happens in six months. You can transition a whole roster in six months. And then the other part of this is that you're starting to see that the guys that understand how to be a head coach and have a mechanism and a program that they can just go and implement rather than go and try it out,

those are the ones that are succeeding. So look at all the first year coaches around the country. in their location that are succeeding. Most of them are head coaches that got head coaching jobs. So you, Kael and DeBore at Washington. Cushing. Doing a great job. You've got Lincoln Riley at USC.

You've got Sonny Dykes at TCU in the top four. Good point. You've got Brian Kelly at LSU. All head coaches. All head coaches. And then there's some exceptions to the rule. Dan Lannings doing a heck of a job at Oregon. He is, but I think considering the talent,

not as good as I'd like to see. I mean, listen, they're a very good team. Marcus Freeman is doing a good job developing, although I will say this, major speed bumps early, lost to Marshall at home. But he'd never been a head coach. Lost to Stanford. And so you're going to have to take those speed bumps, right?

And to some extent, you got the speed bumps with Dan Landing as well. They got housed against Georgia in the first game. So there's this trend. Those programs right now that are looking at hiring coaches and going through the hiring process, the guys that have proven that they can do it and have a mechanism in place and have a program in place that they can bring and then put into motion, those are the ones that are getting, I would just say, like, higher value. Those are higher value targets in this coaching search, you know, picture that we're seeing because of the success that these guys are having. And it's remarkable.

You think about it. I mean, like, it's November 19th. I always think of it as the Saturday date. It's not today, you know, you get what I'm saying. the week of November 19th in college football. Lincoln Riley in his first year is going to play a game against UCLA in which he has massive college football playoff implications. I think even you, like a USC fanboy, I think that was even above your expectation level.

I picked three losses. Exactly. So it's happening way quick. Did anyone think Brian Kelly when he's given the fake accident down there and he's doing the dumb dance and everything? And it's like, oh, hey, by the way, in a few months, He's going to be the SEC West winner. You didn't say that.

Stop it. Don't clear your throat as if you're like, I protected this. All you said was, and I was sitting here, is like Brian Kelly's a really good coach. And that's true. By the way,

I was the only guy in the country that watched that dance he did, took it home, and it performed it. You know what? You've never said anything creepier on your show than that right there. Okay, let's go back.

Because you know I like Brian Kelly. I like people who are not likable. I don't know. It's a weird thing about me. Yeah, you are likable. a lot of yourself and them. Let's not go that deep. So let's go back to USC. Let's go back to USC on this. Let's go back. I think you and I have a little difference of opinion because I said this morning about

this team. Yes, outside of the first half against Oregon State, I think they've won the coaching battle all year. Yeah. I don't think you can win your last three games of the year. If you have to rely, I have nothing to back me up other than just a belief that if you have a great defense with an offense that limited, it's easier. But USC is a pretty limited defense based on their thin. He solved their offensive issues in like six months. They're going to have to outscore UCLA, outscore Notre Dame, maybe outscore Oregon. Yeah. And then outscore a Tennessee. I don't think you can do that. Well, I think it's, no, I actually agree with you. I would just, I would go a layer deeper. The one thing that could

protect USC's defense from being exposed is the ability to retain the football, stay on the field, execute, you know, third downs, run the ball. Travis die getting injured. Yes, it impacts their offense. And you can talk a lot about how it impacts their offense and the run game.

The offense is Caleb. Travis Dye's injury impacts the defense way more than even the offense. Good point. Because now, fully exposed because you got to go. It's all about offense. You got to go tempo. It's about Caleb. It's about throwing the football. You're going to have more passing attempts, more than potential incompletions. It's going to raise the number of snaps that your defense

faces. Okay? And so that's that's an issue for USC in particular in a week in which they're going to face a UCLA team that by the way is underrated running the ball. Did you know that UCLA with Zach Charbonnet, they're running back, is the number one Russian yards per carry team in the country. So like they can get after it now. No, no, it's a go either way game. I'll take USC based on Caleb. He'll make a play.

Listen, he's a star. He is an absolute star and they're going to have to. It's going to have to be very high scoring. Okay. So I hate to do this because I am, I tend to have guys I like and I'm pretty loyal on it. Okay. I've been. Am I in the circle?

You are. Oh, wow. Yeah. Out briefly back in. Harbaugh, Brian Kelly. Okay. I have been the proest Sark guy in the world. Is he out of the circle?

Oh, okay, time out of the circle. You've got to win some of these games. You can't get, Lincoln Riley took over a tire fire and they're nine and one. And they're winning all but one. They're one player from undefeated. I like Sark. He can recruit. He's polished.

I think he's a good guy. He's flawed like all of us. They never win these close games. That's a massive problem. And this was, it's details, isn't it? It is the details. And it's also the fact that they lose it in different styles all the time, right? You know, like it's penalties one week. And then all of a sudden it's like, your offense went for 199 yards against TCU? Like, listen, I know TCU's defense has gotten better, but that's a problem. Bejohn Robinson only getting 12 carries in 29 yards. That's a problem. And I know that it wasn't like working, but doesn't this scream, remember when Ezekiel Elliott got 14 carries against. Michigan State in 2015. That Ohio State team was so good. And then they lose to Michigan State and Connor Cook.

Why? Zeeke got 14 carries. By the way, I've brought that up to Urban several times. This felt like that. You're at home. And Bejohn Robinson, who's maybe the best player in America, gets 12 carries? Like, I'm sorry, that can't happen.

And that's a detail thing. And Sark has got to get over that. This feels a lot like when I defended and thought that it was a great hire Scott Frost at Nebraska. And I was like, yeah, but these close losses, it'll turn. They'll start winning these close games at some point. And then it's like, well, you know, yeah, I know I get it. But, you know, still, you know, like, let's be patient.

And then it's finally like, oh gosh, this isn't working. And I'm not there with Sark. Obviously, it's only a second year. But they've got to start winning these games. This is the point that I think is most apt for last week's game against TCU. Colin, if you're a good program, you win big games at home. It's what you do.

Yep. Right? And Texas doesn't do that. They're 11 and 6 at home in the last three years. And they've lost 8 and 4 under Sark. And they've lost games that they shouldn't. Kansas last year. This game against TCU.

You can't lose that game. You got 100,000 people in the stands. And they're coming in there. And that's what happens. So Sark's got to do a better job. And it starts with like, and I know that this might sound like more of a personal shot. I like Sark a lot.

So do I. You got to burn that suit that you wore. Oh, it was a bad one. Did you see that? It looked like the Vancouver Canucks on retro Jersey Night. It was bad. It was like a retro's Pirates meets Padres old suit like from the, it was bad.

No, I texted him, told them to just wear shorts next time. Let's go to your top 10. I don't care about the college football playoff rankings because they're going to change. I think you actually do it right here. You know, one of the things here is, I'm a West Coast guy, but I can acknowledge the SEC as the best conference by a mile. Sure. So you have four teams better than USC, and you're right.

Alabama would beat them neutral field. So you have Georgia won, Ohio State, Michigan, TCU, then Tennessee, LSU, Bama, USC. I think those four teams today, although I think in a neutral field, the LSU game, LSU would have lost a Bama at Bama. I think they could play for a while with LSU, but I do think USC's not as good as those teams. I think this, I think you basically nailed it. You and I never bought into Clemson. Let's circle back to USC, UCLA.

Okay. So, um, Chip, I tell my friends this. I'm like, we may have two of the most cerebral coaches in college football in our city. Yeah.

Chip is, Chip literally has changed things in the NFL when he went there. I mean, there's practice changes. Yeah. And then Lincoln Riley. Um, you're doing the game this week.

Yep. Which is rare, by the way. So Gus and I are not doing the noon game. This is going to be five local 8 p.m. Eastern time. you expect it to look like? Well, I think that there's going to be a lot of points, a lot of points, because each team's defense is weak, right where the opposing offense is going to be, you know,

have their identity. So, for instance, USC's defense, 97th and yards per carry defense, UCLA offense, number one in the country, yards per carry offense. On the other side, UCLA does not deal with mobile quarterbacks well. The Laura from Arizona ate them up. And and their linebackers don't cover in space very well. Well, now you're about to see Caleb Williams and a number of wide receivers and now smaller, faster backs that can take advantage of those linebackers.

So I imagine we're going to see a lot of points. And then there's this one layer deeper. Chip Kelly went the NFL route with his coaching staff on the defensive side. And because of that, the NFL style is more matchup-based so they don't change their scheme as much. Very good point here, Clat. Listen to this. And they don't adjust their structure as much as a college defense would with like a 3-3-5 stack or a 4-2-5 type of defense. So what you have is

teams like Oregon were able to really take advantage of UCLA with a multitude of different formations. Because of the wide hash marks, you can get in things like a four-man side, a four-receiver side, or formation strength into the boundary into the short side of the field. And it throws defenses off in college, much more so than it does in the NFL with the tighter hash marks. So Kipp's got an NFL guy running his D. And Lincoln Riley does about as good a job as anybody in the country of manipulating structures to gain advantages. And so watch for the formation game for USC. I think that the game plan in particular early for USC, I'll be really shocked if UCLA stops

him on their first three or four series. I think it's going to go up and down the field. And it's going to be exciting. And I told Gus, I was like, hey, rest of up, buddy. I called him on Tuesday night, and I was like, hey, last night, I was like, rest up. And he was like, why? And I was like, 6158. Get ready. Okay, finally, a lot of people thought Michigan would be winless this year. I did not. I thought they'd be excellent. Is that, is that right? People thought winless? Winless. But I saw more into the program with Harbaugh and Michigan. Let's be serious, though. We both like Michigan. We both like it. I think it's actually great for the sport when Michigan

Oh, no doubt. Yeah. If both of those teams win this week, you talk about great for the sport. Oh, it'll get a massive number. I mean, biggest number of the year by a wide margin. You can say all you want about those great games that we've had so far. I mean, this Michigan team is very good. Ohio State, very good.

And if they both win 11 and 0 each, that's going to be unbelievable. But you said something recently, and I said, that's a gem. And you may have said it on this show. I would hope you'd save your best stuff, not for Gus or the network, but me. Be that as it may. You said this, I thought was very interesting. You said Ohio State's got a higher ceiling. Yes. Michigan's got a lower floor.

No, no, higher floor. Higher floor. You messed it up. I did say it on this show. Okay, let's do it again. Ohio State higher ceiling. Yes. Michigan higher floor.

That's right. That's exactly right. All right. All right. This is the thing. And I told a Buckeye friend. I said, I've seen you have three bad halves, six bad quarters. All I do is see Michigan the same team every quarter.

every week. Even the Maryland game that was close, they didn't play poorly. Just took them a while. It took them a while. I'm like, I haven't seen Michigan have a bad half this year. Yes. I think Michigan's better than Ohio State. I don't know if I would go there because, listen, the top gear is the top gear. If Ohio State turns it on, they are better than Michigan at the top end. What time are they going to do that third quarter? Well, and that's the issue. It's like, is you don't know. I think there's a couple of things. Let me just let me bring up problems for each team. We always talk about how good they are. Let me tell you, like, this is what I'm concerned about for both teams. Let's start with the Buckeyes.

Buckeyes. Here's what I'm concerned about for you. Your other two receivers not named Marvin Harrison Jr. Have fallen off the face of the planet. In the last two weeks, Emeka Abuka has four total catches, 41 total yards. Julian Fleming, three total catches, 31 total yards. That's not enough. So in the last three games, Marvin Harrison Jr.

has 49% of the receiving productions for Ohio State. Guess who else is going to know that? Michigan. So in an obvious passing situation, he's not going to get single coverage. He's going to get double covered because Jesse Minner has an NFL background and he's going to have a matchup style defense just for Marvin Harrison Jr. So that's a concern. Now, for Michigan, what's my concern with Michigan?

Well, you went with J.J. McCarthy at the beginning of the season. And in part, it was to raise the ceiling of this offense. Well, he's got a higher potential. He gives us a little bit more. He does. And then guess what? We never saw it. We never saw it.

So I don't know if J.J. McCarthy has developed as a passer because all they do is slowly bludgeon teams to death with their run game. So now J.J. McCarthy in the last two games has thrown for under 50% completion percentage. And if he gets into a shootout with Ohio State, I don't know if they have that gear. So that's a concern. And in particular this week against an Illinois team, they've got an opportunity to develop that. Illinois is number one in the country in terms of passing defense and completion percentage defense, 48% why they run man coverage, tight windows, timing, blah, blah, blah.

Here's what I'm about to tell you. This week, if you're watching Michigan and Illinois, it's all about J.J. McCarthy trying to develop as a passer and gain some sort of confidence moving into next week. If you're watching Ohio State against Maryland, guess what it's all about? Ameca, Abuka, and Julian Fleming, who gains some confidence to be the second option next week if Michigan can take Marvin Harrison Jr. away. There you go. Good stuff today. I like, unlike other weeks, when you do your homework and really bring it, I appreciate the effort.

news. All right, let's start with the 49ers. I think you've said every week all season that they have the most stack roster in the NFL. One thing that's holding them back, perhaps, is Jimmy Garapolo. Oh, boy. Former Niners offensive tackle, Joe Staley, thinks Jimmy G. It's playing some of the best football of his career. You know, even just talking to him, he has a confidence about him because I don't think he's

putting the own pressure that maybe he had felt earlier in his career. You know, when he had the, he got traded there, you got the contract. And then last year, too, it's like, hey, they drafted my replacement. This is my chance to show them who I am or other teams, you know, I'm kind of auditioning for maybe a trade. There's a lot of pressure that goes into, you know, performance on the field. And he just feels like he's playing free. He's letting the game come to him.

He's not trying to do too much. And I think that coupled with all the weapons they does have around them, you're seeing the best version of what Jimmy can be as a quarterback. I don't buy that at all. Remember when they went to the Super Bowl? His stats dwarfed everything Jimmy G's done this year. By the way, this is small potatoes, but this is the kind of stuff you've got to notice

if you're trying to look ahead and see around corners. Jimmy Garoppel went to the Warriors game this week with George Kittle and a couple other 49. Saw that. You see that? So they're sitting in the front row. Yeah. All the cheerleaders run over to introduce themselves to Jimmy G.

Of course, very handy. Kittle and the rest of the Niners who are with them were like, oh, Jimmy G, you're the legend, you're the man. It's going to be tough for Tray Lance to come back and supplant Jimmy G. I know that the coach of GM won him, but I'm telling you, that locker room loves Garapolo, dude. They love him. He's a dude, he's a dude, like some, you know what I mean? I've said this before.

Sometimes you hire people and they're good at what they do. They're just a good hang. You don't want to have people that are a bad hang in a company. I've worked with people that are talented but a bad hang. They're, you know, needy or like Jimmy's a good hang. hang. People want to be around Jimmy. You around Jimmy? Cute girls love you. The Warriors call for free tickets. He's always in a good mood. He takes the blame.

And it's like the alpha players are going with him. Yes. He's a guy's guy. I'm not discrediting Trey Lance. I'm just saying it's tough to come in when the team loves you, but the front office and the coach are like, oh, we need to bring in Trey Lance. I don't know what happens in there. Colin, if Jimmy G goes to the Super Bowl, Niners become the most interesting offseason team there is, what do you do? You can't dump the guy for Trayland.

You cannot do that. No, it was amazing how much pushback, Niner fans, when everybody suggested, yeah, of course they'd be better with Jimmy G. Over the kid, because we don't know if the kid can play. We know Jimmy G can play at what level, but we know he can get you to the Super Bowl, and this roster's better, in my opinion, than the Super Bowl roster. It's deeper. I would agree with that. 49ers are fascinating, but first they've got to get to the Super Bowl.

All right. next up, oh, dang, Colin, Packers have released wide receiver Amari Rogers. He was at Clemson, very good player, instrumental in that game against Ohio State. I don't know if you remember a few years back. A lot of fumble problem in the NFL. I feel so bad for the guy. Former third round pick. I mean, this was just two years ago.

We said, didn't we say last week or this week, it appears he's a bust. Now, the Texans, the Houston Texans just claimed him. Wow. So one of the first team. Breaking news. Yeah. So he'll be a number four receiver for them or three. He may be a two for them.

Listen, that's a guy you take a chance on. I mean, maybe he was mentally fried, couldn't crack the rotation. I mean, they drafted guys over him, Watson and Romeo Dobbs, and they are instantly playing mentally that mess with Amari Rogers? I don't think they trust him. I think he had a fumble issue. I mean, you know, Packers have pretty high standards. He had four catches this year, five fumbles. Okay, he's playing on special teams a lot.

He needs a new environment. Yeah, sometimes you just need a reboot, you know. It just didn't work, but that double. Amari Rogers was a good college football player, man. Dynamic, I like him. That's a good by-low job by the Houston, Texas. All right, and finally, ah, yes, I really like this story. Taylor Heineke, guy Cowhert was not willing to give a lot of credit to on Tuesday. Listen, man, all he does is win, win, win.

Oh, boy. Won three of four starts. The team doesn't know when Carson Wentz is going to be able to return. Ron Rivera. Are you ready? He said when Wentz is healthy, there will be. a tough decision between Heineke and Wentz going forward. You have to look at the momentum.

You have to look at what the mood of the team is, obviously. You look at what is best for the team. And at the end of the day, that's how it has to be. You know, there's a great saying that you treat everybody the same. You treat everybody fair, that you treat everybody according to the team. And that's what this is about. So the decision being made will be about the team first and foremost. you know and one thing that I've always done is

whoever the starter is you know I'm going to commit to them fully because I don't want them looking over the shoulder I think it's I think you can make the argument and I think you're right about this and I'm wrong is that momentum was the first word he used the first thing he said above all that was you think about momentum Heineke is a good vibe he's it by the way he's a good hang

guys like him he's a good hang humble he's just in the room guys like him and feel better about the game plan, you go with Heineke. That's a no-brainer. Now, Colin, this brings up the point we talked about first hour. Quarterbacks that were traded for this past off season, the list is now at six. Carson Wentz, injured, probably not coming back.

Matt Ryan, benched, now he's back. Russell Wilson's struggle bus. Baker Mayfield, benched, injured. Now he's back. Mitchell Tribesky, benched in Pittsburgh. Marcus Marriota, the only guy who's hanging out to his job, and that's barely. It's a run team. Colin, this trading for quarterbacks.

People are desperate. Derek Carr is going to be the dude. I think Jimmy G. and Derek Carr are the two big names this coming up offseason. I don't know, man. NFL is really tough to find a quarterback. I don't see Wentz sticking and staying in Washington. No way. He's not good.

I'm not sure if he's going to be in the league. He's made a lot of money, and he's bounced around. People are giving him a chance because he was like a top five pick. That's the only reason they think. Oh, Carson Wentz. He's a big, strong kid who had 27 TDs and seven picks with a cult. He's not a bad athlete, but there is something to be said. and I've interviewed him before and I like him, but I don't know him,

is that Heineke's a better hang. He's just, the momentum with Heineke's just guys just, guys just like certain guys in the room. They're just guys. And other guys have colossal egos that barely fit in the room and you disrespect your coach. We don't know that. And the owner hated him in Indy.

I'm not, listen, I've said enough on course of this. I know you like you guys, so you got your favorites. I get it. By the way, how about this one? But a big man is willing to come off an opinion that's clearly wrong. I'm rarely wrong, but, when I am, I'm on a come on. I'm admitting it. I like Sam Darnold and Carson Wentz, and for the same reason, overly reckless, they have both failed. I like people that take big swings. They both do.

They're too reckless. I was wrong on both. Hey, just throw this at you. Short week, Washington field themselves, Texans get three and a half. Oh, I already bet the Texans. Yeah, Texans is the bet. Yeah. Teams that covered last week against teams that didn't. I think you want to keep an eye on. Look at the line moves, Colin. The market speech. a lot. Oh, how about Colts? Eagles. All of a sudden, oh, Colts, you got to bet the Colts this week. Eagles aren't that good. So three fumbles and the Colts get, face the worst defense in the league and now Matt Ryan's good. Very excited. We were in Qatar yesterday, not the show, but a guest. Not a lot of shows giving you guitar updates. So Kevin Durant had a one-on-one interview with Chris Haynes, much like Aaron Rogers. You know, Kevin's available. He'll pick certain people in the media he likes, and he's available. Aaron's available. Don't always agree what he says.

Same with Kevin Durant. But I do appreciate the fact that they've got their guys, they got their boys. They got their boys. They got their friends. And they go out and they say stuff. So Kevin Durant said three things of interest. And let's talk each. First thing he said, he talked about the trade request.

He said, it wasn't difficult at all because it was all about ball. I went to the team and it was like, yo, I don't like how we're prepping. I don't like shootarounds. I like practices. I need more. I want more. Hold me accountable. Get on my ass and film.

It wasn't like, yo, make sure I'm happy. Nah, I want to make everybody else's life easier. My takeaway on that is I've always said with Kevin, he's not really confrontational. In that instance, I would have gone to Steve Nash and said, change stuff up. I'm the star. I don't think it's, why didn't he confront Steve Nash? Just go to him and say it. I want harder practices.

So, but Aaron and Kevin Durant that I've compared before, you know, instead of confronting somebody, that's why I defra. offended Aaron this weekend confronting Matt Luf Fluor on the field. More of that, less talking to people and airing your grievances publicly, just confront players, confront coaches. So my takeaway on that is I like that Kevin wants to work on ball. I like that. But I wish he would have just confronted Steve Nash and said, be harder on me, be harder on

the team. The second bite is, I'm not a leader. I'm not a leader. What the blank does that mean? I'm not going to tell Kyrie, a grown-ass man, what he can and can't do. with his own life and dissect his views or how he thinks about stuff. I get that. I mean, listen, I would.

I would struggle with it. But it is difficult. There are people at this company. I completely disagree about how they view the world. What do you want me to do? I'm not in HR. I'm not in PR. So I'm going to kind of defend.

LeBron James done the same thing. Draymond Green has said the same thing. What do you want me to do? You know, people have their beliefs. it's your private business. I can disagree with your ideology or how you raise your kids. You're a grown man. His third quote is, look at our starting lineup.

Edmund Sumner, Royce O'Neill, Joe Harris, Claxton, and me. Not disrespect. What are you expecting? If you're watching from the lens, you're expecting us to play well because number seven's out there? I guess my takeaway in Kevin Durant is this. He loves basketball. I don't think he's a natural leader. I don't think Kauai Leonard's a natural leader.

I think Janice has some natural leadership skills. I think Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, had some natural leadership skills. And then I think there are some guys in sports, they're just talented. Steph Curry's got some natural leadership abilities. I think Kevin's just wildly talented. He doesn't want to tell Kyrie Irving about vaccinations. He doesn't want to confront Steve Nash on coaching harder, which by by the way, those were the rumors in the league that Steve just wouldn't hold guys accountable.

Steve's a nice guy. That was the knock on him I heard privately. He's not hard enough on these guys. Tai Liu is confrontational. He told LeBron, do this, do this, do this. That's Ty Lou. Tylo is a confrontational guy. Mike Dan Tony's not.

Steve Nash isn't. He's their own. You know, there are people in the NBA that believe Kevin Durant's really not into the winning thing. that he views basketball sort of as artistry, and he's the great basketball artist. He did leave the Warriors for Brooklyn, so that argument feels like it could be right. I do think Kevin Durant really wants to win.

But obviously, by leaving Golden State, winning wasn't the most important thing. LeBron is basically chased winning. In Cleveland, he couldn't get a star. He went to Miami to win. And then after he won, he said, okay, I'll go to Cleveland. Remember, the owner flew down to Miami. But here's what you got to do.

I don't want kids. I want Kevin Love. He wanted to win. And then LeBron in L.A., he wanted to win, but it was the mogul stage. I want to make some money, do some basketball. But I do want Anthony Davis. But I feel about Kevin Durant that I feel about Aaron Rogers. If Aaron wants to win, and that's number one, you don't take $50 million.

Brady never has. if Kevin Durant really wants to win, you don't leave Golden State. I'm not saying Aaron doesn't want to win. I'm not saying Kevin doesn't want to win. But if you really, it's about winning, then you spend time in the offseason working with young wide receivers, rookies. And you don't take $50 million. If winning is number one, Brady has always shown us, winning is everything. Everything.

winning is everything. And he wins a lot. And by the way, and I think for Aaron, it's important. I think Tom Brady is obsessed about winning. I think, I think Michael Jordan obsessed about winning. Kevin Durant wants to win. I like them both. I love Kevin Durant. I love Aaron's game. But it is interesting. A lot of times people say, I work. hard. Oh, how long you work? Forty hours a week. That's not. That's, that's, that's the standard. How about 70? I've met people like that. So, I think if you ask Kevin and Aaron, hey, I care about winning. Mostly, you don't leave the Warriors and Steph and Steve Kerr and Clay and Draymond if it's number one. and you don't take 50 million and not work out in the off season with young receivers

if it's number one. It's one A for both of them. And that's okay. They're both first ballot hall famers, and I love watching both of them play. So to go back to what Kevin Durant said, I'm Kevin Durant, you're Kyrie Irving, okay? To go back to the vaccine stuff.

I'm KD, you're Kyrie Irving. Kyri, hey, so what's up with this vaccine stuff? You don't want to get it? I have been reading a Reddit board and I don't trust it. Kyrie, you want to win a championship here? Well, I have... No, no, no, no. Do you want to win a championship here? Yes or no? I think we can win a championship.

Okay. We need you to win a championship. We're not winning unless you're on the court with us. Well, I mean, I'm a grown man and I don't want to take the vaccine. It's not about the vaccine. Do you want to win, yes or no? My doctor Joe Rogan told me there's a lot of things going on. Okay, all right. Do your thing. We're not going to win a chance. So that's what you would have done. That's what leaders do, Colin. Come on. If you're a leader, you get your guys to buy in. If they don't want to, you tell them, all right, we're not going to win then.
