First, you need to let me cook on this brawny nepotism, rich Paul nonsense. Alex, I'm going to try to contain myself because I'm getting work to. You've been teasing this now for a bit. Top of the show, after the first segment. There's a time where, like, the nepotism, I think, actually works in your advantage. This could be one of those cases.

I sure hope so. Yeah. So there was a report yesterday from the former GM of the Warriors, Bob Myers, architect of the Splash Brothers Warriors' Championship run. And he came out during the second round of the draft and said, Rich Paul, LeBron's guy at Clutch, is calling teams and saying, do not draft Brony James. He will go to Australia and play basketball in the NBA.

And I'll go, oh my gosh, how could he do that? She's that is so wrong of him to try to steer his client somewhere. Oh, really? Like that's never happened before? Come on. I literally have a list of a billion guys who have done this. We could go NFL. Do you want to go NFL?

Do you remember Eli Manning? Anyone? Anyone remember Eli Manning? coming out of the draft. Chargers's number one pick. We're taking Eli Manning. He's a Manning. He was good at Ole Miss. Eli Manning's dad comes out, don't draft my son. He ain't going to play for you guys. Huh? Yeah, he doesn't want to play there. You're a rotten franchise. I don't know if rotten was the word he used. Probably a little hars. And so guess what? Chargers couldn't draft Eli. They have to do the trade.

It worked out for both teams, although the Giants ended up winning Super Bowls. Chargers didn't quite with Rivers. guy by the name of John Elway, you guys want to read about that? Google is your friend. This happens in the NBA. Chris Stap's Porzingis. I'm a Knicks fan, okay? 2015 draft rolls around. Sixers at three, we want Porzingis. Hey, Porzingis, can you give us your medicals?

No, you can't have them. Huh? No, we don't want to go to Philadelphia. They would not share Porzingis's medicals with Philly. They wouldn't work out for Philly. Sixers, what do they have to end up doing? Okay, I guess we'll draft Jalil. who had just won a chip with Duke.

And Okofor, obviously, a good player at the time, didn't pan out for him quite in the NBA, but they couldn't draft him because his group, his camp, did not want him going there. Folks, this happens all the freaking time. So settle down on trying to crush Brony for going to the Lakers and go after Rich Paul for steering Brony to play with his dad. Do I need to remind you guys of what happened with Kyrie Irving at the end in Cleveland? So Kyrie and LeBron, obviously they won the amazing championship in 2016, coming back from down 3-1.

They were tremendous. And then they get smoked the next year when Kevin Durant shows up. And Kyrie gets win that LeBron is not happy, and he's probably going to be leaving at the end of his deal. So Kyrie Irving goes to the Cavs. This is all documented. I'm not just off the cuff here. Hey, guys, trade me, okay?

If you don't trade me, I'm going to have surgery and sit out the season. Kyrie Irving told the Cavs that. Cavs, well, we got to do something. So they end up trading him to Boston. And you remember a package for Isaiah Thomas and some dudes, whatever. Like, guys want to play in certain places. This happens all the time. Now we're talking about the 55th overall pick in the draft,

and there's selective outrage. I'm going to call it faux outrage because it's LeBron's son. And Rich Paul steering his client to the Lakers at 55. Now, it's unclear exactly who was threatening to take Brony. Was it the Celtics at 54? Hey, we're going to get your guy. We're going to take Brony. We're going to get him.

And then you have to pay up if you want him. Well, like, is this a ransom? Is this a hostage situation? The Lakers are going to do their best to get Brony on the court, keep him on the roster, keep him out of the G League, get him to play with his dad. It's a historical moment in the NBA. What's so wrong with that?

I'll just repeat what I said in the first. hour. A lot of folks just don't like LeBron James. LeBron could say the sky is blue today. No, what are you talking about? It's not. It's green blue. People just don't like LeBron. Anything he says now, this could date back to the decision. This could have to do with, I don't know, politics, whatever it is. They just don't like him so they're freaking out. I'm just telling you guys, stand down, settle down, and enjoy the moment. This is going to be historical stuff next season when LeBron and his son joined forces in L.A. All right, let's welcome in our guest. former NFL wide receiver.

He starred with the Rams. The greatest show on turf, Tori Holt. There he is. Yes, sir. Played with Kurt Warner. How you doing, Jason. Marshall Falk, great to see you. Isaac Bruce.

Ooh, a lot of good NFL topics. First of all, how's the offseason been for you? What's your vibe here on the NFL currently? All the landscape changing almost every day. Man, it's been cool. I do a show during the year with Solomon Wilcox on. serious XM. And then once the season is over, Super Bowl, everything's all. I kind of take a step back, but I kind of keep my eyes on what's happening. My son just graduated college. So shout out

to my son, Braden. That's awesome. From NC State. He's an engineer. My daughters are playing soccer, and my oldest daughter is working towards her career now. So watching the kids grow and do their thing. My wife and I shout out to my wife, too, by the way. We're celebrating our anniversary today, our 22nd anniversary. And you're coming on TV on your anniversary? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, but no, that's kind of what's, been going on in the off season and then sent all the changes in the national football league. I know we're going to talk about the Rams, but seeing my guy Aaron Donald retire. Yeah.

Big shots out to AD. Were you surprised? True, true ram. I wasn't. I wasn't. I think if you watched his body language the year before, then this year, though he gives you max effort. It was just, you know, just watching him and how he moved around and then to see him exited

game. I was happy for him. I well deserve a Hall of Fame career for sure. So from a football perspective, the, greatest defensive player on the Rams is now gone. Yeah. Okay, he commanded double teams, triple teams. What does this do to the secondary, the pass rush?

Yeah. Is this, the Rams defense, should we expect them to fall off a cliff? No, I don't think so. I think the expectations are the same. I think that's Sean McVeigh's message. Yes, they have a new coordinator in Shula, but Sharminvay has to manage so many things, players being plucked, but also coaches being plucked year in and year out.

But they continue to do a really good job of drafting and developing players. Kobe Turner's got to be good. Gotta be better. He had a heck of a rookie season. He's got to be better. Brown's got to be better. They got two rookies from Florida State Fisk as well as Jared Verst, who has to step up. Now, no one replaces Aaron Donald.

Collectively, though, these guys have to play at a very high level. And what I love about this Rams Young Front, they're all drafted. They drafted these guys that they're playing. Again, showing you confidence that they have in their players and then their players delivering. Now, I don't, I've never been in a Rams

shuttle, but I can pretty much say with some certainty that Jalen Ramsey was a leader when he was there, and Aaron Donald was the leader. Oh, yeah. So that's a massive void to fill. Like, how do they do that? Can one guy do it? Can multiple? I think that happens as the season goes.

As they continue going through the summer, as they get into training camp. I think the leader will continue to identify itself. And this football team is smart enough to go to rock with their leader. Like Aaron, like you mentioned, Aaron Donner's been their guy for so long. He led them on and off. the football field, but someone else on the defensive side of the football field will emerge as their leader. We know offensively with Cooper Cup and Pulka and Matthew Stafford, how there will be someone defensively will emerge. All right. Let me get to my guy, Aaron Rogers. I'm a Jets fan.

Listen, you've been in the, you're in the NFL for a long time. Rogers allegedly disappeared to Egypt or wherever during mandatory camp. He's the leader of the team, the captain. Can you recall a time when your quarterback was, just not never I look I I get it you know he's a fantastic player fantastic leader lester was something family driven we haven't really heard that's the only way I'm missing camp that's the only way that I'm missing camp with the expectations that are on the Jets all it's it's win championships because of a big part is supposed Aaron Rogers is on the roster they've revamped their office line they got talent on the

perimeter got Bruce Hall Reese Hall in the backfield, mandatory mini camp is when it all starts. It's when the coach steps in there and says, here's where we're going. Here is what we're trying to accomplish. And your main guy is not there, certainly a cause of concern for me. It would be eating me up if I'm not in minicamp. Well, my teammates, like, I can't even stomach that. The only time that I miss some training camp time is when I was holding out for my contract in St. Louis.

And it was eating up. It was eating even then. But I had to make my stance because I was trying to get my bread. So this is totally, for me, unacceptable. Aaron Rogers already knows that the pressure is on. But the message that I think that it's sending to your teammates is that I'm still a little bit above everyone. And then for the, I think, too, the coach and staff, an organization is allowing it to happen as well. Well, remember, when the owner jumps on a private jet to go recruit Rogers,

he feels like he's got the run of the show. I'll bring in Hackett to my OC. I'll bring in all these guys. And then he's like, I'm going to blow off minicamp. What are you going to do about it? Nah, I don't understand it. I don't get it on it. I don't think it's acceptable.

Again, Aaron Rogers would have the answer to why he missed. But those other guys are expecting for everyone to be there going towards the goal. And that's to win championships with the Jets. They have to win. And they can't even get past Buffalo. And then their main guy is not even in camp. Were you ever in a pro bowl with? Sam, do you know Rogers at all? You know, I don't.

I know Aaron from afar. I think I've made him one time. I did meet him one time at the honors and I had an opportunity to say hello to Aaron. Hell of a player. Heck of a guy he seems to be. But gotta be in camp. If there's nothing else, if it's nothing with family or so that Trump's

football, you got to be in camp with your guys getting ready to go. I won't speculate, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't talk to his family and he's not married. So, well, anyways, let's move on. Other quarterback situations around the league. So Jordan Love had a good eight games with the Packers. Yeah.

And now all of a sudden it's like, oh, he's going to be a $50 million guy off an eight game sample size. What am I missing here? No, I think the potential for Joy and Love is great. You know, I think he certainly has shown the ability to run and manage an offense. I think being able to go and play at the level in that particular division with Detroit being the guys, I think he's shown that he can do that. So I like Joy and Love, I think his trajectory is continuing to ascend.

He's got an officer coordinator that's talented, that's creative, and then he has young talent around him. So I like where Joy and Love is going, and I think his future will continue to be bright. I'm not asking you to look in anybody's pockets, but when you see the headline, Jared Goff, $55 million per year. I mean, that's kind of sort of stunning for a guy.

And Goff is a good quarterback. Don't get me wrong. Yeah, yeah. But. Good timing. Certainly, yes, yes. But Jared Goff has been very productive in this league. Let's not get a twisted.

And he's been very productive in this league. what he did here in Los Angeles, taking a team to the Super Bowl, then getting close to taking the team back to a Super Bowl competing there in Detroit, couldn't get past San Francisco. Jared Goff has been very productive in this league, and I think his production was timely in terms of how the market is in terms of how the cap is and the type of money these guys are demanding. Walk me through what you think is happening with Tua and the Dolphins.

The latest report is that Miami's just not going to go to Goff, Trevor Lawrence-type numbers. They're just not going to do that. And Tua's side is like, hey, is it what the market says? Oh, by the way, look at my numbers compared to Lawrence. Does he have a case? Again, the situation where it's timing. That's the type of money. That's where the salary is for these quarterbacks.

Yes, Tua needs to win more, certainly. Just like I said, Aaron Rogers has to get past Buffalo. Miami's office have to get past Buffalo. So if they feel that he can do that, then you pay him that type of money. Kind of like what Jacksonville is saying with Trevor Lawrence. paying him forward thinking that he's going to deliver conference championships. He's going to deliver Super Bowl. So if you see that for Tua, then you pay him his money.

Market says that. I got to get to wide receivers. And I'm not calling you one, but the word diva gets thrown around a lot. I got a little, you know, that a little bit in me, you know. You said you held that over money. But listen, this Brandon Ayuk's situation is different because you didn't have social media to go to. Brandon Ayuk is now on like TikTok saying they don't want me. They don't want to pay me.

And he's going on Instagram and his family members. And it's just a little too much noise. And it feeds into the, oh, another diva receiver on the heels of Stefan Diggs and Odell Beckham. Where are you with the tag diva? I hate it. I hate it's been said for years. I mean, it doesn't bother me. Okay.

Yes, I mean, I mean, maybe I've shown some flashes of divas. But I'm also, I can also play the position. I'm a tough guy. I can play the position as well. I think when you think about Brandon Ayyuk, he's earned the type of dollars that he's asking for. He's a very productive football player. He's reliable. He's consistent.

He is every bit of what Debo Samu's brings to that football team. Deyuk Sammas obviously brings a physical mentality, but the production is there from Brandon Ayuk. So I think he deserves the money. I hate to see that he's going to the social media and saying the things that he's saying, because I think it's kind of dumbing down really like who he's a solid guy. Yes, he's frustrated and he wants his money. Now having these social platforms is easy to get it. Get your phone down and just say what you feel.

But I hate that he's going to that level with it, but he deserves the money that he's asking for. He's very productive. You said your daughters are playing sports. And I just wonder, do you ever coach them about social media and sports? And like, hey, just be careful. Because I feel like a lot of these athletes kind of grew up with it and never got proper training.

And they're making some mistakes. I mean, you saw the chief guy gets drafted. worthy and he goes on a video with his with his girlfriend and is like peeling off hundreds like what are you flexing for it just feels weird well it's it's it's the likes and people they want folks to see what they're what they're doing and it's trendy and it's what's happening on the social scene but yes i have conversations with my kids about social media but they're young adults i mean they they now know how to carry themselves they know what's good and what's not in terms of posting on social so i don't have i don't have to go over the top with them i actually

would like for my kids to post a little bit more and my son does actually does a really good job He has his own TikTok page. Bradenhold that you can follow him on TikTok. He's really cool. Doke. Does a lot of food reviews. But my daughter's, I try to get them to post a little bit more

because they have so much to offer, talented, young, smart, athletic girls. I think the world should see that. But I don't have to beat them down in terms of being right on social media. They know how to handle themselves. Yeah, we could wrap up. Bill Belichick is gone.

He's out. And Gerard Mayo is the new Patriots coach. Following a legend, is very difficult. You know, Don Shula, Joe Gibbs, on down the list. It's tough. Patriots have the lowest win total in the league at four and a half. I don't know if you know Mayo personally, but it feels like a massive uphill climb for them.

Where are you on the Patriots? And like they had a two-decade dominance with Brady and Belichick, and it feels like they had a good run. Yeah, they did. But they, you know, they got a defense in mind. The coach, the defense is solid. Obviously, they got to make some things work on the offensive side of the football field to balance up the Patriots to give them an opportunity to win, But I do like to hire. I had an opportunity my last year in the National Football League. I was in New England for a short stint. And Jared Mayo was the middle linebacker and just to see him echo and bark out the calls and get guys lined up and make sure that the defense was operating at a high level in practice on the day-to-day basis. You saw that from him. He was a leader. So I think that those things would transfer over to his football players. He obviously knows how to identify and talk and converse with him. But I think he's a he's a patriot through and through. So you have that special. schooling out of him, but you also have a guy that wants to coach in the National Football League

believes that he can coach in the National Football League understands that he's following Bill, but this is his time now. So it gets an opportunity to kind of blaze his trail, but I think they got a good hire in Gerard Mayotte. It's funny you say blaze his trail because he's trying to like do stuff Belichick, like didn't do. He brought in a rapper to throw passes to receivers. I read a story that they had a Belichick refused to let him have a ping pong table or whatever. Now they brought in a ping pong table, like loosen it up. But here's There's a thing. All that stuff worked for the Patriots with Belichick and Brady.

So why would you totally go counter to it? Well, Brady's, I mean, in Belichick's time frame of coaching, different mindset of guys, different way of doing things in the National Football League is doing my way or the highway. Now with this young group of talent is now coming into the National Football League, you've got to get down, you've got to be able to converse and be able to communicate on their level to get the best out of them. And I think you're seeing Jared Mayo bringing rappers now out onto the field. Music is playing. I'm sure they have a ping paul.

making in an environment for them that's conducive to give them the opportunity and the trust and the confidence to go out and elevate their skills on the day-to-day basis, which he hopes to get a carry over to the field. I've lobbied for a ping pong table here. No luck so far in two years. I've got to ask them in for a question. We do. I know, seriously. Are the chiefs going to three-peat? Just a simple yes or no will stop.

I say yes for now. Until they dethrone, I say yes for now. Andy has dealt with a lot. Every single year, there's some type of off-the-field controversy that he's dealing with, but they continue to. the right to ship. They got the number one guy, Patrick Mahomes. Holy hell, that's a big one. All right, let's go quickly to the NBA. So the biggest name in free agency, drum roll, please, Paul George, but is he even going to hit free agency? So the paper clips, we've gone through their saga. They had Kauai Leonard. He was going to be free agent, and they said, we're not giving you the max. We'll give you a little less than the max.

Kauai quickly gave up his John Hancock signature. Paul George said, whoa, I'm a max guy, bro. Show me the money. Clippers said, no, you're never healthy. Sorry. And Paul George is then like looking around. And as we articulated Monday, he's been looking for leverage. He's been trying to use the Sixers.

He tried to bluff basically with a 2-9 offsuit, aka the Orlando Magic. Clippers are not biting. Now he's putting on the full court press, Golden State Warriors. I want to play with Steph Curry. That's the new thing. Paul George is emptying the chamber with options so that the clipper. showing the money. This is where it gets interesting. Let's say Paul George stays with the clippers. He just capitulates and says, I love L.A. Well, we're going to be healthy. We're going to win a chip.

We're taking down Braun and Brony. This is our city. We got the new stadium. Blah, blah. It's not their city. It never will be. You get the point. What's the trickle down if Paul George stays with the paper clips? Because the Philadelphia 76ers folks are a fascinating story. Okay. And yes, I lived outside Philly for six or seven years. You know what happens. We were in New York City. You get hitched. And then eventually you decide you're ready to have kids. So you want to move to the burbs. You kind of move close-ish to the in-laws. The New Jersey taxes stink. So we moved right across the border to PA. And we're outside Philly. Didn't go into Philly a ton. It was a nice city. So I've never been a huge Sixers fan. I'm not the biggest Joel Embed fan. I'm not a hater. I just, I don't think he's amazing. I'm sorry. Joel Embed is a max spot on his team. It's him,

Tyrese, and enter Max player here. Daryl Morey, who's putting all this together, he's been on the show, he is a star hunter. Going back to his Houston days, who could we pair with Yao Ming? Get me Dwight Howard. Get me James Hardin.

He built those Rockets team to challenge the KD Warriors, and they pushed him. Get me whoever I can. I need stars. That's what Darrell Mori wants. He's always hunted stars. Ben Simmons. They got Joel Embedde. They one time they had Jimmy Butler end up losing. Moory likes stars. What if there's no stars to get in free agency? Because Paul George stays with the Clippers. What's plan B? And I asked that because, and yes, I've been driving this a little, and I gave the Philly backstory because Sixers fans think I hate the team. what happens if Joel M. B. doesn't get a good running mate.

He looks around and says, Jesus, Celtics just won the title. The Knicks re-signed Ananoby, and they got Mikhail Bridges. Pacers kept Siakum. They're going to be good. Cabs are likely keeping Donovan Mitchell. Who am I going to get? And so Mory can't get a star.

Embed has no wingman other than Maxi. Sixers start to tumble, and Joel Embed at this point says, well, damn, do I need to get up out of here? Do I need to force a trade to a team where I can partner up with some guys and win a chip? And it gets really interesting if Paul George stays with the clippers. Because the Sixers, I've looked at the list, folks. Jimmy Butler ain't signing an extension. He doesn't want to be traded.

He's staying with the heat for one more year. Okay? Malik Monk is staying in Sacramento. I don't know that he moves the needle for the Sixers, but he ain't going. So now you're looking at like the second tier guys. Okay, can we get DeMar de Rosen, KCP, Clay Thompson? Does that do anything? I don't think so.

And now all of a sudden you start to go down the list of guys and, oh, geez, the phone lines in Philadelphia are lighting up. What's the plan, Maury? What are we doing? And then you get an unhappy Joel Embed and I'm just saying, this Paul George situation really the trickle down around the league. Like if the Warriors don't get Paul George, can they keep Clay? Well, what if they get Paul George? Where does Clay go? Does Clay go to the Lakers for less money to really stick it to Golden State?

Does he say, fine, I'll go to Philadelphia across the country? I don't see that. This weekend is going to be really interesting in the NBA, led, of course, by the Paul George saga. Let's go to Alex Curry with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news.

Let's talk about someone who also made the move from New York to Philly. Because before signing with the Eagle, Sequin Barkley posted on social media that he never got an offer to come back to the Giants. Well, New York is the subject of HBO's hard knocks offseason series. And in the trailer for the show, Giants' GM Joe Shane is shown on the phone saying, Sequin, can you give me your word on that? Or are you not going to give us a chance? Which seems to kind of contradict Seekwan's post. But honestly, Jemak, I mean, the Giants ruined their chances to get Seekwon back, I think, after the situation last year.

Yeah. When he was trying to hold out for more money, they end up paying Daniel Jones, which I'm sure they're regretting now, and didn't pay their best player on the team who they drafted, who wanted to stay there, who was a homegrown talent. That left a bad taste in his mouth. And regardless, we don't know if they made an offer, what that offer was. But I mean, the writing was on the wall The way last season started And the way this offseason went Because he stuck it to him

And went to a rival Signing with the Eagles Kind of love Seekwon for this. I'm not surprised. I love it. So here's Alex, you're like an L.A. homegrown person So you have predetermined. You don't like certain teams, okay? So I was born in New York. I love me the Jets. I picked the Jets.

I like the Yankees. I don't like the Mets. I don't hate them. I just don't like them. I despise the New York Giants. I don't like them at all. I love. You were happy about this.

I love how embarrassing this is. Hey, last year, we don't want to pay you. We want to pay Daniel Jones. Now they're begging for Seekwant on the phone. Please give us a chance. This is so common. You ruined that. You ruined that last season.

I just love it. You know, I'm going to be rooting extra, a little extra, for the Eagles this year, Especially. I hope they put it on the Giants. Saquant goes for like 250 yards. Oh, he's going to go off. You know he's going to go off. You know he's got the date circled on the calendar. Oh, yeah. That's the big one. I bet you he gets a standing ovation in New York.

He should. I'm just telling giants are a disaster right now. And I'm loving every minute of it. Well, let's move to L.A. where Justin Herbert and the Chargers will have to work with some new weapons this season. After they got rid of Keenan, Mike Williams, as well as letting Austin Eckler and Titan Everett walk. Joshua Palmer is still in L.A. And he said things are definitely different without the team's former top weapons. I mean, it is a completely different offense

for the Chargers this season. They lost four of their five top guys, J. Mack. Keenan Allen went to the Bears. Austin Eccler, commanders. Mike Williams, Jets. Everett went to the Bears. I mean, they did drop the wide receiver lot from Georgia.

Yeah. But it's a new era. with the Chargers and head coach Jim Harbaugh, who is going to be heavy on the run game. They also have a new offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, who used to be the Ravens offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2022, and they signed Gus Edwards,

who was a running back for the Ravens, and J.K. Dobbins, who was also a running back for the Ravens. So you have to... There's been a lot of excuses for the Chargers over the years. I mean, what Justin Herbert has had, how many coaches, five, three different head coaches in four seasons. Like it's, it's been a lot. Last year they went five and twelve.

So you have to imagine that there's going to be at least a little bit of an improvement this season. But there's also, there's no excuse this year, right? You got the top new head coach that was on the market. That's supposed to create a culture, be a game changer. Did they have a decent start schedule-wise to the season? they're versus the Raiders at Panthers, at Steelers, versus Chiefs. So you hope you can at least pick up... Yeah, pick up a couple wins before you face the Chiefs.

Coming out of the buy Broncos Cardinals, those are wins. Saints are not good. You said no excuses. You've seen wedding crashes, right? Yeah. Rule 76, no excuses. Play like a champion. Yes. That's what I expect from Harbaugh, Herbert, and, you know, the poo-poop platter of receivers they've got.

But they're going to be heavy on the run game. That's what Harbaugh does. That's fine. They're going to basically be Ravens West, right? Yes. And now they have their offensive coordinator. And a hardball coaching them. And then they got the two running backs.

Like, yeah, I think there's a good team. I think they're a surprise playoff team. I know the back end of the schedule gets a little tougher. But there's a favorable lineup for them schedule-wise. It is. I don't like the early by, but. I feel like there has been high expectations for Justin Herbert the moment he started playing in the league. And it's like, well, you know, he hasn't had a consistent coach.

There's always been he hasn't gotten along with. either with a head coach or offensive coordinator, whatever was happening. Now there is no excuse. There are no excuses. Like, get to work and prove that you are one of the top talents in this league. And by the way, the baby blue chargers color is like, I mean, not that I, besides me looking really good in baby blue, it's just one of the better jerseys and helmet combos in the league. Well, I mean, it's also like UCLA vibes. It's very L.A.

Yeah. It's very L.A. All right. On to the WNBA where Caitlin Clark put up 15 points and 7 assists last night in the fever's. Oh, 8977 lost to the Seattle Storm despite leading rookies and scoring with 16.2 point per game. And fever head coach, Chrissy Sides, wants the first overall pick to take more shots. Kaylin Clark needs to shoot a minimum 15 shots a game for us. I mean, she's got to get shots.

We've got to do a better job of sending her up and sending some really good screens for her to get her open. And, you know, the way people guard her, it's tough because she's getting redded. So once the ball's out of her hands, she's setting the rest of our team up for some really great looks. She's getting some pretty good looks when she's off the ball. But, you know, we like her on the ball. So we just got to figure out how to manage the two. I mean, she is the team. She's doing it all.

She's also shooting and scoring. She's leading all rookies in points per game and assists per game. But you also have to wonder, like, is this kind of an out of respect thing? because she is a rookie on the team is that she's setting up, trying to set up her teammates to succeed. But she's not a normal rookie, right? She is the chosen one.

She is the reason that the WNBA is at the level that it's at right now in terms of attention and media attention. She is the reason that they got charter planes this year, that most of her games are nationally televised. She's selling out arenas. She's getting million dollars. her deals, breaking records, attendance records, everywhere she goes.

I got to be careful here, Alex. I don't think I've ever tried to fire a WNBA coach on air before. Whoa. What is this woman doing? Yeah. Caitlin Clark needs to shoot more? No, you got to get her more shots. Well, also, like, she needs help.

She's a franchise. What are you doing? She needs help. She is one of the best, she's the best rookie generational talent on one of the worst teams in the league. I wouldn't know. And she's doing it all for this team. And we even saw it in the final, in the final. final moments when they were playing Chicago.

Like you would think, Caitlin, take that, take the shot, passes to a teammate, teammate misses a shot. That should be the buzzer-beater, Caitlin Clark moment. But she's getting, she's getting double-teamed. Yeah. Like, she needs help. I wouldn't know Christy's sides if she delivered a pizza to the studio. So I should

not try to assassinate her here, but I'm just saying, you knew months ago Caitlin Clark was coming to the team. You had the number one pick. You had plenty of time to refashion the offense and figure out how to get franchise the basketball. Steph Curry has been dealing with double and triple

teams for years. You know who still gets open and shoots the ball a lot? Oh, Steph Curry, thanks to Steve Kerr in that offense. Hello, whoever you are, coach of the fever, get your act together. Listen, so my daughter played volleyball. And one of the kids on the team, the dad is from Indiana, played

college basketball. He's heavy WMBA. I'm not going to say his name. I didn't give me permission. Yeah. He watches like all the games. He watched them last year before they had Clark. And he's been, I'm This coach is a disaster. She has no idea what she's doing. And you watch the fever.

And you're like, oh, the best player on the team took like three shots in the fourth quarter against Chicago. I don't care if she's double or triple team. Get her out of way. Get her open. Get her unlocked. This is basic basketball. I'm also not a fan of a coach throwing your top player under the bus like that.

She's got a shoot for? Every single, I mean, we're seeing almost every media outlet talk about her. She's getting so much heat. Caitlin Clark is getting so much heat. She should be. getting support within her organization and franchise. Support her. Find ways to get her open, as you said, so she can be taking those buzzer-beater game-winning shots. I'm just, that's going to be

the most coveted coaching opening in the, maybe WMBA history this offseason when they can this girl and bring in whoever. Everybody's going to want that job. You're going to have massive exposure. They're going to leave the league in TV games. Yes, they will. I'm just, that's a great coaching. I might throw my hat in the ring. She's, Jay, I coach my daughter to back-to-back. That doesn't mean you are qualified to go to the W. It's a joke. Come on. All right, Alex Curry, what's the news?

So the staff, they came to me earlier and were like, how do you grade this? I'm a harsh grader. Cowherds giving out grades, A's left and right. He's like that teacher everybody wants, right?

Because he gives out A's. I am a harsh grader. Only one team got an A plus, one A, I believe. But that's final hour. All right, here we go. Sometimes I like to take deep breaths, you know. get my mind right. So I'm a Jets guy, and I remember last season, Cowherd was just mocking the Jets relentlessly because of the quarterback situation, blah, blah, blah. He's like, you should pick a

new team. And the 49ers were hot, and I was like, yeah, I should be a 49ers fan. I got a bunch of buddies out here in L.A. who love the Niners. So I kind of adopted the Niners as like my fourth favorite team. I think it's Jets, and then Rams and Chargers. I like their local. I root for them. And then I think the Niners are next. And I saw this very very very. video this week of Greg Olson, the great Fox announcer, talking about Brock Purdy. And it got me thinking like, oh, man, this is some interesting insight. Let me look at the numbers. Here's Greg Olson on 49ers quarterback, Brock Purdy.

He told me last year he said his great, his magic wand, his secret weapon is, he's the fastest processor I've ever been around. Sam Darnold told me the exact same thing. I've known Sam for a couple years now. And for both of those guys, unpromptu, to say that it speaks follow. They're not just saying it to coach speak. I mean, we're just having a personal conversation talking about Brock and how, what a great couple years he's had. And they're just like his ability to process things quickly, eliminate the throws that aren't there,

get through his progression to the throws that are there, what the coverage dictates, what the play call dictates is a huge differentiator in this league. And he does that at a very high level. Hmm. High praise from the great Greg Olson, who by the way, I covered playing high school football in New Jersey. He was a beast. So I said last season, when I was caping up for Purdy and Cowherd kept leaving him off all his top ten lists, I'm just telling you, Brock Purdy is a young, young being the key word, a young Tom Brady. You guys remember when Brady filled in for Bledsoe, it was like, oh, they got this game manager named Tom Brady,

and he was a fast processor. He would make the plays. He would not screw up. He would lead you on the game-winning drives. And Tom Brady delivered. Tom Brady didn't become Tom Brady the goat until. you know, well, maybe 10 years into his career. I believe it was the Randy Moss team where he had like 50 touchdown passes or whatever.

And then, you know, that's when the Tom Brady legend really started. And obviously the Super Bowl against the Seahawks with that amazing fourth quarter, like against the best defensive league. That's when Tom Brady became Tom Brady. Brock Purdy now is a young Tom Brady. And I know guys aren't going to like it. I know this is going to be painful. But if you look at what Brock Purdy's accomplished in a short time,

We got a little more than a season and a half. When he became the starter in late 2022, this is what he's done against the rest of the league. Number one in wins. Jason, wins are a quarterback stat. That's stupid. Don't count it. Fine, fine.

Toss it out. Completion percentage. He's accurate. A. I don't think I could say that. Passing touchdowns. Second in the NFL in this time frame. Pass a rating first.

And if you're like Jason, fine, you're cherry-picking stats, dude. You hate when people do that. Okay, okay. I went to pro football focus. And I looked up some more advanced stats. You want to take a Gander, who was one of the best deep passing quarterbacks in the league last year that throws over 20 yards? It's Mr. Brock Purdy. 12 touchdowns, one pick.

One of the five best quarterbacks on deep passes in the league. Okay, fine, deep passes. That's one set. Okay, I got another one for you. Under pressure. Remember, you know, my line stolen from Stephen Jackson. I make love to pressure. Brock Purdy makes love to pressure.

according to pro football focus, he is top five in quarterbacks under pressure, 11 touchdown, third most in the league. I can keep going. I will. Play action, you'll never believe who, according to pro football focus, graded out as the number one play action quarterback in the NFL. Rock Purdy, 12 TD passes, tied for the league lead with Josh Allen. So yeah, I'm going there, guys.

And I know what you're going to say. Well, it's easy to have play action when Christian McCaffrey's you're running back. Okay. Well, McCaffrey played in Carolina. A, who was that quarterback? And B, how did he do in play action? Oh, well, Jay, it's the coaching. It's always an excuse when you guys want to go at Purdy. But I am telling you, unequivocally, in the last, you know, season and three-fourths,

not quite two full seasons. Season and a half, whatever you want to call it, Brock Purdy starts. Since he's taken over as a starter, he's been statistically a top five quarterback. That is an inarguable fact. Okay, I know Lamar Jackson won the MVP. I get it. I like Lamar Jackson. Go ahead.

Put Brock Purdy's numbers passing against Lamar. Now, Lamar adds the running element, which changes the equation a little. But as a passer, it's Brock Purdy over Lamar Jackson. People don't want to hear that, but that's an inarguable fact when you look at the data. Yes, Patrick Mahomes is a better quarterback, more accomplished than Purdy. Yes, Josh Allen, more accomplished, better numbers. But then you start looking around and you're like, Okay. Joe Burrow, he's had some injuries.

Jalen Hertz, not as great last season. Two years ago, phenomenal. Brock Purdy's been more consistent than Hertz. Dak Prescott, shockingly, people don't want to hear it. His numbers match up really favorably. But again, this is just the data. Do you trust it? I don't know.

Tuatungovaloa. Obviously two years ago had the concussion issues. Last year, his numbers were off the charts. And this is where NFL comparisons get so difficult. Well, Jay, Chua, I mean, he's got Tyreek Hill and McDaniel calling the shots. Oh, okay, fine. We can play this game all freaking day, okay? Brock Purdy's numbers match up with the Crem de la Crem in the NFL.

Now, you could say, oh, Patrick Wilhelm has a better arm. Fine, okay. You can't, I don't know that you can really measure that? Like, can he throw a football further? Who gives a rip to steal a line from Coward? Can Josh Allen throw a football out of a stadium? him wonderful. I don't know how that translates to wins, but I'm just telling you guys, you can argue it, you can knock it. Brock Purdy's numbers say he is a top five quarterback

in the NFL. And, you know, Alex, people just don't like when they get hit with the facts because what is it? What's the saying, the facts and feelings? I forget the saying, facts don't care about your feelings. Thank you, Ryan. Again, I get it. You over here may like Trevor Lawrence. He has not been a better quarterback than Brock Purdy. Brock Purdy in his first two seasons, not even a full two seasons, got the Niners to the NFC championship. He got injured. That's why I believe they did not move on. And then next season to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the dynasty in Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. He's giving you everything that he can. Yeah. Again, people aren't going to like it. And I know Chiefs
