Starting point is 00:00:48 Help an Acapella band with their Between Songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the ice. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Yeah. This is my best friend, Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. A redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips. This is a podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:19 We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you got them. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano.

And I'm looking back on some of my greatest playoff moments. If we didn't talk ever again, I was funny. You just understood. That's how personal it got. Wow. Then after that game seven, Marquis' keep coming to.
Starting point is 00:01:55 He's like, you know I love you, dog. You know, it's all love. This was just playoffs. This was just basketball. basketball. Starting point is 00:02:23 Radio or FSR. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. there. It's The Herd on Fox Sports Radio. LeVar Erington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you in for Colin here on this Tuesday morning. How are you guys feeling, man? How are you feeling an hour or two of this? You sound refreshed. I feel really good. You sound great. You sound good. You sound good. We were just talking about it. You know, we're kind of on the same time frame as you right now. Yeah. That East Coast time, you know. It's interesting. I'm awake. I'm in a fog, buddy. We're, like, everyone's just, there's just someone's got something.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Everyone's getting sick. People are sneezing, coughing on each other. It's just, I feel like you're in a battle every day, you know? We're just trying to get through. I did it. I mean, did you get, did the weekend get a little better, or I know it was a tough setting there for a bit? I've got like a cold now. So I'm trying to work through that, which I'm pretty much trying to do every homeopathic remedy possible.
Starting point is 00:03:33 What are you using? Like, like, um. You guys ever take? those ginger shots? Yeah. Like turmeric and ginger side? They're orange.
Starting point is 00:03:40 Yes. Yeah. It's really good too. I like it. I don't know if you're supposed to take as many of I've taken each day, but I'm taking like four or five a death. You can't take too many. It's natural.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Yeah. That's what I was thinking. I'm like, I can't take too many. Those will be fine. A bunch of vitamins. I mean, probably more vitamin C than anyone's taking their life. Nice.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Yeah. Just trying to get healthy. That's all. Good. I mean, that's one way to do it for sure. What's the other way, Jonas? Well, Jonas said he takes a lot of vitamin D.
Starting point is 00:04:05 yeah i do um which i don't i mean you're still what is vitamin d well i'm all i'm all about comfort and so you know i i go with what makes me feel comfortable and that i mean you could also get on the echo bike uh you can get on the echo bike and just kind of sweat that bad boy out you know it's uh you know i go into the steam room when i don't feel good man i just try to sweat everything out of you literally steam room too that still ain't working either it's not working you can how long do you stay in there though how long 20 minutes? Yeah, you got to go to like 40.
Starting point is 00:04:39 I stay in that bad boy for like, like, 35, 40 minutes. Dehydrate yourself? Yes, you're talking about 40 minutes. You dehydrate that S right on out. You'll come out looking like an iguana. You're saying. No, no, you don't kill yourself at that amount of time. That's like the time to do it.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Like get to 35, 40 minutes, I'm telling you. And I wear a sweatsuit on top of that with socks on my hands and my feet. at 120. It's the first for everything. What you mean, man? Is that sheet pink? Yeah. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:05:15 All right. What's all that? Nothing is like a different shot. I mean, it was a... It was a Valentine's Day this past. Yes, it was. Definitely was. Let's get on track.
Starting point is 00:05:24 Let's go. Definitely was. Let's do some sports. All right. So, we are going to transition here smoothly. I'm glad you feel better, Q. Yeah. I think.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Keep fighting a good fight. You're trying to feel better. Appreciate it, guys. Appreciate your support. You're going to go in for 40 minutes. If you guys don't talk to me tomorrow, it's probably why. What happened to Brady? You disappear.
Starting point is 00:05:43 If you can't take it, just get out of there. I'll just have a note that says, thanks, VAR. That's also going to say on that. No, don't do that. That's what I do. I feel like Brooks was here. I take a big ice water in there, too. Just make sure you have some water and you're hydrating while you're in there.
Starting point is 00:05:57 How the hell do you take an ice water? It's going to melt. No, you take your Stanley in there. You take a Stanley in there. Don't those things explode? No, no, you're good. I think those Stanley's were exploding. Mine's never, mine has never exploded.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Like he would walk into that sauna, literally like in the steam room, like the face of Big Noon kickoff, and he would come out like cocoon. Like you're trying to kill the guy. 40 minutes is way too long. It's not. It's not, I'm telling you.
Starting point is 00:06:28 I'm telling you, I'm looking up right now. I'm telling you. All right. Somebody told me, a guru told me that before. I mean, you know, I'm a Ph.D. guy myself, but I don't know about the rest of you. Are you? Yeah, man. All right.
Starting point is 00:06:44 60 new ones. All right. So, we move over to this where there was a rumor that was floated out there that the Pittsburgh Steelers had reached out to the Jacksonville Jaguars about the potential of trading for Trevor Lawrence. Jacksonville, of course, was contacted about that. They pushed back on the report. Well, Trevor Lawrence, himself. was smearing it up with Kay Adams on Up and Adams yesterday and was asked specifically about the Pittsburgh Steelers interest and had this to say.
Starting point is 00:07:15 I didn't really see anything. My agent texted me and was, hey, this is a, and then of course I saw it after you text me. He said, hey, this is a report that's out there. I don't think there's anything to it, but I'll check into it. So I saw it. And it's funny, though, when you sent it to me, I was like, you know, I wouldn't say your heart drops, but you're kind of like, what? Like you think, and then I'm like, I can't even get, I have a no,
Starting point is 00:07:35 trade calls in my contract. I would know about it if I was getting traded or if that was something that was going to happen, you know, I'd have to be on board with it. So, which I'm not, I'm happy here in Jacksonville. I plan on, you know, we want to win a Super Bowl here and, you know, I think we can do that.
Starting point is 00:07:51 Take that bar. All right. Take that. Good. You were trying to get him released, cut. All I'm saying is, there's no reason for, I mean, and a player can speak for themselves, right? The player can speak for themselves, but you didn't hear that from from shah
Starting point is 00:08:06 Khan or any of the executives at well yeah you did because they did come out and say that they absolutely weren't going to trade them but no no one is off limits no one and this Jacksonville Jaguars team is
Starting point is 00:08:22 a struggling team for a little while now even on his watch and again he has not established that he is a bona fide franchise quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I'll stand on that.
Starting point is 00:08:40 So if you're not, if you, if you're going into, what is this, year four? Is this year four? Yeah, year four. Okay. You're going into year four and you, you had one moment in time that was a shining moment where you were like, here we go. This is the Trevor Lawrence error. It's about to pop off.
Starting point is 00:08:58 Here we go. And then nothing after that. That was like almost like, oh, wait, that was the curtain call. That was it. That was the height of the height? I don't know if that's what it is. But I know this. Year five, actually.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Year five, okay. All right. This is what I do know, because he did do the big deal, what, last year, right? Yeah. Anyway, the bottom line is he has not definitively shown that you're going in the right direction. He is the future of this franchise. He is the present of this franchise. He hasn't really solidified that.
Starting point is 00:09:31 So if you could get some, if you could get some real value, and not having Trevor Lawrence on your roster, it's not off limits. I don't think it's off limits at all. I mean, he's done more than Pickett, but look at where Pickett ended up. And he was a draft pick. They thought that he was going to be a guy. I mean, not as highly lotted as Trevor Lawrence coming out, but he's not even in the place where he started.
Starting point is 00:09:54 And if you don't think that if they could find a quarterback that could do a better job for them, if this coach, especially when you get new coaches involved, you run the risk of not being that coach's guy and he's got to take a look at what it is he has to do and what that represents to him and his team and do I want to take look at what happened to Aaron Rogers. They don't want him. They didn't want him.
Starting point is 00:10:16 You got to take a look at it. You got to value it. You got to assess it. And I don't think that Trevor Lawrence is off, like I don't think he's non-touchable. I don't think he's untouchable. Yeah, but they just paid him. I don't care. I don't think he's going anywhere. I mean, he's not. It doesn't seem like he is. this is more of if I'm a Pittsburgh Steelers fan this is a team saying like we're trying to leave no stone unturned
Starting point is 00:10:36 we're calling all these teams up who've got guys who are franchise quarterbacks and for many of the reasons that LeVar just stated maybe they have some questions about whether or not he is the guy even though they paid him so let's give them a call which that's what you should do like if you've got a spot you've got a prom at any position let alone the quarterback spot you should be calling every team possible So I have no problem with this. I mean, it's, again, this stuff happens this time of year.
Starting point is 00:11:03 The no trade clause is what's kind of comical about this for Trevor Lawrence because people run with these sorts of narratives. And it's why you know it came from someone in Pittsburgh. Because someone in Jacksonville goes, well, first off, Jacksonville's not trading him. And then second, he's got a no trade clause. So he'd have to approve whatever trade, even if they tried to trade him, what was going on. So like this theoretically doesn't. doesn't work, but for clicks, sure. Yeah. Let's just throw it out there on the home screen or, you know, the website.
Starting point is 00:11:34 And let's see how many people can drive traffic there to listen to us, talk about this conversation. The Steelers, a quarterback, got a, they got some problems. If Russell Wilson has gone, you're looking at Justin Fields, maybe Aaron Rogers, who has said that he wants to play, but it just feels like there's no, there's no fix this offseason that in my mind is going to close. the gap between them, Baltimore, and Cincinnati. Aaron Rogers, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, Trevor Lawrence. What's your best case scenario? Who was your best case scenario to get if that's your choices? Trevor Lawrence, but it's not happening. Q?
Starting point is 00:12:17 I mean, who are we picking from? I mean, the ones that I would say are on their list, right? We would say that they reached out about Trevor Lawrence, so Trevor Lawrence, Russ isn't gone yet, right? They haven't made decisions yet. I always feel like continuity is better than anything else. Like you build from there. And I truly believe this.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Anyone who watched the Steelers. I'm with you. I'm going with where you're going. But like they need more help on the outside. Like they need more help on that roster if they can't get Pickens to act like a number one like he can be. Like he's too inconsistent at times. And when I'm watching, I'm like, man, there he is. is.
Starting point is 00:12:57 Like, there's that guy, there's that number one. And then other times they doesn't feel like he's interested in playing at all. It's bizarre. But they need more firepower in a division that's got firepower pretty much everywhere in Baltimore, everywhere in Cincinnati, or at least I assume it's going to be everywhere in Cincinnati. You know, you can even make the case with the talent that's on Cleveland. They still got a lot of talent, too.
Starting point is 00:13:20 So this is a roster that when you compare it to the rest of the division, offensively speaking, it doesn't have as much firepower as everyone else. And so they need more there to go with, whether it's Justin Fields, Russell Wilson. I'm a bigger believer in one of those two guys seeing this thing forward as opposed to bring in someone else new and again to try to learn Arthur Smith's offense. I think you got to go with Russell Wilson. I think he's your best option. And I know people will say, well, you have more of a runway with Justin Fields.
Starting point is 00:13:48 I just felt like we saw what we're going to see from Justin Fields. I'm sorry, I feel like the verdict is in on Justin Fields. and I'm just being honest and yes if you give him more weapons you give him more options and opportunities maybe I'm proven wrong maybe he's a different player but I just felt like we hit a ceiling
Starting point is 00:14:08 with what you're able to do within that offensive scheme with Justin Fields move him around get a couple he's looking to run the ball he wants to run the ball you're not going to win just trying to run the ball It's just not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:14:26 You got to be able to deliver the ball. And he had a couple good games, but I just never saw him take the top off. And it's like, there it is. There's the game you're looking for. That's what they need. And that was, to me, what gave way for Russell Wilson to get the opportunity to continue to play or to re-enter the fold of playing in Pittsburgh. And he did well enough.
Starting point is 00:14:50 He fell off the cliff too. I mean, I don't feel like he finished out strong. They didn't finish out strong, but I think a lot of that had to do with what Q's talking about on the outsides, the lack of weapons. And you also had a defense that I'll continue to say is not as dominant a defense as it has been in the past. And that has always been a staple of these teams in Pittsburgh, is their defenses are going to carry a load, a very heavy load. And you don't have that. So I don't think Trevor Lawrence is the answer. I think you put Trevor Lawrence,
Starting point is 00:15:23 it's just safe for the sake of saying it did happen. I think you put Trevor Lawrence in an even bigger, an even bigger situation of catching an ale than what he even has in Jacksonville. Because I think it's bad for him in Jacksonville. I don't see it improving in Jacksonville. That's just my take on it. You take him out of there,
Starting point is 00:15:44 and you put them in a market like Pittsburgh where they're expecting more. I think you put them in an even worse situation because I don't know. that Trevor Lawrence is the type of quarterback that you bring in and he changes the fortunes of your organization. I don't see that. I haven't seen that out of him.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Go with Russ. We'll see. Well, they're going to go with Justin Fields. I mean, if you're Pramani brothers, you better hope they do. I mean, you get to change your sandwiches, man. Like, you know, people love Pramantys. They've been a staple. They deliver.
Starting point is 00:16:17 What up, P, man. All right, it is The Herd here on Fox Sports Radio. LeVar Earrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox. In for Colin. Coming up next here, though, we're going to talk to a man who managed to do the impossible. He pissed off a fan base who's got nothing to be pissed off about. And that's yours right here on FSR.
Starting point is 00:16:36 One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week, within the IHeart radio app. Search herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like. Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers. And guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news?
Starting point is 00:16:51 We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast? Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
Starting point is 00:17:08 I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it. Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band. before Jonas Brothers was... This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this.
Starting point is 00:17:25 We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas. And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title
Starting point is 00:17:35 for the podcast. But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Starting point is 00:17:46 Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter.
Starting point is 00:18:09 Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? This Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Tolodon. in our podcast point game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
Starting point is 00:18:30 His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall.
Starting point is 00:18:50 And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night bases on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nass would get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court licking his fingers while he got the ball. Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you.
Starting point is 00:19:18 you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a parameda apostle chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to
Starting point is 00:19:37 Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is? that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that Ness was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive, wait, what sex?
Starting point is 00:19:59 Dating at 45, how high can it be? Getting naked at 50 with the new guy. That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard
Starting point is 00:20:15 can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of my Cultura podcast network available on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's the heard Fox Sports Radio. As the scene unfolds young cause, 13 years old, exposed to cold, too many tall. Okay. LeVar Earrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox, in for Colin. We are going to be catching up with Pete Priscoe coming up here.
Starting point is 00:20:48 momentarily. I hope to catch up with Pete from our good buddy every single Tuesday morning air from CBS Sports. Pete, by the way, pissed off the Eagles fan base. I mean, they should be happy.
Starting point is 00:21:03 What do you say now? Well, they did this thing where they were saying, take your pick for the next five years, and they threw up a bunch of different quarterbacks, and he took a lot of them over Jalen Hertz,
Starting point is 00:21:14 and, you know, I think they were very bothered by that. that he would be taking those quarterbacks over Jalen Hertz even after winning a Super Bowl. And so, you know, of course, the Eagles fans got a hold of that and they can't just be happy because even when they are happy, they're, you know, punching police horses when they win titles. Why are you be hating on Philly fans like that, man? But just how they are, man.
Starting point is 00:21:36 There's only a few of them that do craziness like that, man. They don't represent the entire, you know, fan base. It's a really, really dope fan base. It's a loud minority then. It is a very loud minority. And it's not minorities. Don't go down that lane. I'm not.
Starting point is 00:21:53 All right. Everybody out there that don't take that the way that is sounded. There's a small group of people that represent the Philadelphia Eagles fan base incorrectly. That's all. I mean, you guys play there? Every fan base has that. You guys play there. Did you deal with it at all?
Starting point is 00:22:08 Absolutely. I think they're horrible. I was on IR. I was in Philly when it happened. But, yeah, I mean, they were pretty. pretty nasty fan base. Although that was like, it's like 2008. And so I'm pretty sure they waxed us pretty good.
Starting point is 00:22:24 So you really can't say anything at that point, you know? Yeah. So Pete's been dealing with the repercussions of what happened with the Eagles fan base. So hopefully we'll be catching up with Pete here. Coming up just a couple of moments from now, Lee to lap is efforting trying to line up Pete Chris. Is this a classic case of Pete? Just Lee not telling Pete that we're.
Starting point is 00:22:47 in a different time slot. No, it looks like there's a whole lot going on back there. I don't think this one is in Lee's hands. Yeah, it's technical difficulties, you know? I mean, it happens. Oh, is that what it is? So if I reach out to Pete right now, he'll respond? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:00 Every time I see Kyrus, like, you know, I always put the face to the situation when I'm talking to Kier's because usually I'm on the phone with Kier's. But when I get to see them, it's interesting because I get to put the facial expressions in the body language to what. I hear when I'm on the phone with them, and it totally matches. Yeah. Totally matches. Dude is a genius, though, man.
Starting point is 00:23:22 Like, he pulls things together. So they're back there. They're just doing that genius stuff for Q. That's all. That's what we're trying to pull together. That's all. I do think, though, that Pete loves the interaction, though, with people when it comes to, you know, I never knew that.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Pete was so, like, you know, I don't want to say confrontational. That sounds a little aggressive, but maybe, like, maybe accepts the adversarial. role of how he interacts with people sometimes. Oh yeah. Loves to mix it up. It's the smoke monster. Then after I met him in person, then I realized why he likes to mix it up so much. He's feisty. He's very feisty. I mean, when you have shoulders as broad as Pete Prisco's, it makes all, and that tan, holy s. Well, I still can't get over the story he told us about the Super Bowl in San Diego, where it was at Lee Steinberg had the Super Bowl party at the San Diego Zoo. Yeah, I do remember that.
Starting point is 00:24:21 What is that? Lee goes all out for his parties, man. At the zoo? Yeah, why not? You think that's a good idea? Hell yeah. Somebody throwing a G&T at a giraffe? Not throwing a G&T.
Starting point is 00:24:33 That seems like a terrible idea. You have them in a restricted area, man. Listen, we were in New Orleans. We saw how, you know, the media gets after it, especially on that Thursday night. I don't think we would be trusted near the, The Flamingo exhibit. Really?
Starting point is 00:24:47 Yeah. I don't think that would be a good idea at the zoo. But, you know, that was a... San Diego Zoo is dope, too. It is awesome. It's fun. I like the zoo here in L.A. too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Not bad. Yeah. Big Zoo guys. But the one in San Diego is kind of fire, man. That's the one where you could, like, go on to the jeeps and you go out there with the rhinoceros. And the giraffes. And the giraffe was getting close to us this one time. And they were like, yeah, keep your hands inside.
Starting point is 00:25:14 giraffe is running up on us like, you know, it is what it is. Yeah. All right. So we will effort Pete Priscoe. In the meantime here on the herd, it is time for an impromptu addition of a little something we do here on the herd. And it's the herd line news starring the one of only Greg Tooe. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
Starting point is 00:25:36 This is the Hurdline News. Listen, guys, I'm always ready. All right. I'm always ready. See, that's what's about. I don't need any prep. No. Too, too, me.
Starting point is 00:25:46 How we roll. Hang on to it. All right, guys. I don't think Brady realizes how long we could go with this. Like, you could just do anything. Like, we've got some of names for me. Oh, yeah. Right, Jonas?
Starting point is 00:26:03 There's probably some drops in the system, too. Oh, my God. I don't even want to know it's in the course of the years. And also, like, it's just a cool-ass name. I mean, it's too hay. It is too hay. It is too hay. But Brady, it's funny.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Like, I've gotten so many versions. Like, I've gotten like Toomey, Tooley, Toohey. Really? I mean, oh, yeah. They people butcher all the time. I could see how Too-E could confuse them, but like either Too-Hae or Too-E. There's not really many other ways you could pronounce that, right? I mean, you'd think.
Starting point is 00:26:32 But the different versions I've gotten over the years when I was a kid were just insane from teachers and whoever. Yeah. Try having the last name Knox. You do the math. we talked a lot about the NBA new format yesterday something else that popped up over the weekend the three-point shot has come under fire in recent seasons for what many is saying is ruining the NBA
Starting point is 00:26:56 and basketball in general and as you were talking earlier Brady it's just kind of contributing to a lack of excitement and physicality from what we saw in the old days of the old school days of the NBA Steph Curry the greatest three-point shooter ever over the weekend opened up about the three-point shot crazy and why he's good with young kids following his lead. I love the work that goes into, you know,
Starting point is 00:27:17 earning and deserving that confidence. And that's the message that I preach all the time is, I want everybody to be inspired if you love basketball, to be able to shoot and get better and stretch your range, shoot, you know, five, ten feet outside the three-point line. Like, would love you to be inspired to do that, but you also got to work at it too. So, like, the ruin in the game thing,
Starting point is 00:27:38 it's just a charge and a challenge to, If you want to do that, then get in the gym, get your reps in, and earn it. Okay. I agree with them, though. I agree. All right. How else is Steph Curry going to become Steph Curry if he doesn't develop a skill that fits what he's bringing to the table? I think we've seen that Steph can do it.
Starting point is 00:28:00 There's a lot of people who try to do it. They can't. And that's what's hurting the product. Nobody's became Michael Jordan yet. A lot of people try it year in and year out. Like, there's a reason why the Willenda. do the High Wire Act and nobody else does. Otherwise, there'd be corpses left and right on the 4-5.
Starting point is 00:28:17 They're the only people that do it. No one else does a High Wire Act? Well, I mean, yeah, they're just not successful at it. The Cirque is so late. I don't know what that. I think you just, you don't like remembering anyone else's name that does it. Who else does it? Name another Highwire Act that isn't the Willendez.
Starting point is 00:28:30 All right, let me type it at the Google machine. It's like, you're going to be digging because it didn't go well. But it's like Steph Curry can do this stuff. the warriors did the guy just do it like a few years back over a volcano? Philippe Petit Ferell heading
Starting point is 00:28:49 I mean there's are all people who do it I mean I think the problem is with the three point shot is that it's all or nothing and that's what the NBA has become it's all threes or all dunks and there's nothing in between and so when you watch an NBA game
Starting point is 00:29:01 you're just seeing guys jack up 40, 45, 53s a game teams 53s a game and it's just it's lost the excitement. The craziness about what you're saying is that that is the very argument that people use saying that the teams of the past would not be able to contend with the teams today because of the amount of points they're putting up by shooting all of these threes. Like Zach Eadie, for example, in any other era, 7-4 could score, could rebound. You're looking at like, oh, my God, this guy's a top pick in the draft.
Starting point is 00:29:37 and he fell to what, 11 to Memphis or something like that? Like, in no other time would he have fallen that far? And that's why, like, a guy like Jimmy Butler or DeMar Rosen who's got sort of an in-between game, it's kind of like you're not really sure where to put them because it just doesn't match up to anything else.
Starting point is 00:29:55 It's just a different NBA, man. The crazy thing is you get, like, guys like towns and who's the guy in Philly, big dog? M.B. You get guys like Yon. honest. These guys are like dang there or Kevin Durant. These guys are like dang near seven foot or seven foot
Starting point is 00:30:13 and they play in like Littleman. By the way, Joel Embed is one of my favorite drops in the system. Uh-oh. First of all, I ain't no bitch. That was like kind of close to your Rob Parker. It's a good place to start. Why do you think that was?
Starting point is 00:30:31 No how. That's a good place to start. All right, we'll wrap it up with this. So guys, Angel Star Mike Trout arrived at training on Sunday and met with the Angels coaches and they determined that the three-time MVP would be moving from center field to right field in an effort to preserve his body and keep him healthy this season. Trout, who is now 33, said, quote, I knew it was coming. I just want to be on the field. He's only played in three postseason games in his career. He's only played in 266 of his last 648 games over the last four seasons. This is a lot of the last four seasons. This
Starting point is 00:31:07 is crazy. I mean, in reality, this should be a huge story, right? For a guy of Trout statue. But the problem is he has become so irrelevant and the Angels have become so irrelevant. Yeah, nobody cares about him. The gap is
Starting point is 00:31:21 astronomical between them and the Dodgers. Yeah, nobody cares about the age. Can he just DH? Like, that would be a good start, Brady. What do we do it? Like, if you really want to, like, protect him, why put him in the field at all? Just let him DH.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Am I nuts for saying that? No, it's just Like, so you go center to right field So you get less balls hit your way? When healthy is one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball I get that He's never healthy and that's the problem He's never healthy
Starting point is 00:31:50 Yeah And so if you feel like fielding is what hurts you And your best attribute Best way to helping your team arguably is hitting They just let him DH Why did that never cross anyone's mind? By the way, the Angels My crowd's name was super big
Starting point is 00:32:04 What like four years ago? is the best player in baseball. Like four? Yeah, one of the great talents that we've seen. He was going back and forth with somebody else. Who was he going back and forth
Starting point is 00:32:14 with hitting home runs and stuff like that? Well, Mooky Betts was in the discussion as one of the best players in baseball. Like Bryce Harper was the other one. Judge. It might have been judged.
Starting point is 00:32:24 And then you see Otani and you go, oh God. You know. But I think we were talking maybe yesterday, but like the fact that they had Otani and Mike Trout. On the same team. And they did absolutely nothing.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Think about this, and I brought this up before. Otani is the DH for the Dodgers. The Dodgers' D.H. It should be the number one starting pitcher for at least 12 to 15 teams in baseball. That's how loaded the Dodgers are. And the Angels could be in Tijuana, and nobody would care. You wouldn't know the difference. There's no discussion.
Starting point is 00:32:54 They're irrelevant in L.A. in Southern California. Wow. Yeah. Completely skipped over by the Padres. Well, there you go. We didn't skip over Greg, though. No. Hell of a job.
Starting point is 00:33:05 by Greg Tooey there. Thank you. That is the Herdline News starring Greg Toey. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herdline News. You know, some have said this was impossible.
Starting point is 00:33:16 And to that, we say, Screw you. Oh, wow. The great Pete Priscoe joins you next here on Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. On Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app. Hey, it's Steve Kavino.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news. What's the news, huge news? we created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Starting point is 00:34:40 Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special. So how did we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember. I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers. This is how you guys remember it going down? Yes. I have a very different memory of this. We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, Hey, Jonas, and then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
Starting point is 00:35:20 But thanks for remembering that, guys. Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
Starting point is 00:35:45 help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean.
Starting point is 00:36:09 I'll bet you a parameda apostle chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast. How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva, where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive. Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How high can it be?
Starting point is 00:36:41 How can it be? Getting naked at 50 with the new guy. That one's kind of hard. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, how hard can it be? I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. How Hard Can It Be with Deanna Maria Riva as part of My Cultura Podcast Network available on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
Starting point is 00:37:18 And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
Starting point is 00:37:43 And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash would get that thing. That man, hell get to fly. He running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like, You go through a training camp with that, I said, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:38:14 It's the heard on Fox Sports Radio, LaVar Erington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you in for Colin. Coming up top of next hour, about 20 minutes from now here, we are going to tell you about a player in the NFL who's going to be looking at a very big payday, very, very, very soon and it could impact his entire organization. We will get into that for you here on FSR. Before we get to our guy, Pete Prisco, though, you are listening to us now. Did you know you can also see us? Be sure to check out the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. Just search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube. You'll see a whole bunch of video highlights from our shows. Be sure to subscribe so you always have instant access to our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube. Without further ado, he is Pete Priscoe, senior NFL columnist for CBS Sports, CBS Sports, CBS Sports,
Starting point is 00:38:57 HQ analyst. You can get them on X at Prisco, CBS. Pete, how we feel in here on a Tuesday? Are you guys, is this like a little bit of a promo, a promotion for you guys? Have you stepped up to the big leagues? Is that what this is? No, no, Pete.
Starting point is 00:39:11 No, man, I'm kidding. It's like Little League. It's like Little League, we're a pinch hitter, you know? Yeah. Well, you struck out three times already. Oh, no. Wow. Wow. You didn't say that when we was in New Orleans, damn. Tots your little ass off that
Starting point is 00:39:27 stage. Before I even got on the stage with you, you were mocking me about my tan. Your tan, because it is a phenomenal tan. You got to be honest. That is a very distinctive tan, Pete. I mean, let's just be clear here. You got broad shoulders. You got a good
Starting point is 00:39:43 tan. I was giving you all the props in the world. Now you come on here and shooting at me. I don't know if you were giving me props. Straight pops. It's all good. Props. You're my guy, Pete. Since D.C. Come on, man. we got history.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Dang. You know. A, Pete, why did you piss off Eagles fans the way that you did? What'd you do now? Why'd you do it? What'd you do now? All these other quarterbacks you would take over Jalen Hertz, and now the fan base is going after you on social media.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Do you having to see any of that, Pete? Oh, yeah, I see it. And I was on a silly radio station today, and another couple of them reached out, and everybody wants to take a shot at me. And the question was posed to me, which quarterback would I take over? a bunch of different quarterbacks would you take him for the next five years over Jalen Hertz? And
Starting point is 00:40:32 a bunch of them I said yes. And so now, of course, the Philly fans are going nuts. And, you know, fresh off the Super Bowl, they can yell and scream all they want. But the reality is about the last month of the season, they weren't sitting there raving about their quarterback either. I don't care what they say.
Starting point is 00:40:48 Or their coach. Yeah, he's a good player, but would I take him over certain quarterbacks in the league? The answer to that question is Like who? Give some. Give some. Okay.
Starting point is 00:40:58 Okay. Would you take them over Justin Herbert? I wouldn't. I'm not going to answer. What are you guys thinking? Why won't you answer? Because it's your questions that you answered, so I was just letting you have it. I think Herbert's an interesting one.
Starting point is 00:41:15 Herbert's an interesting one because I think if you're, I think the real question is, would Howie Roseman take Justin Herbert over Jalen Hertz? And I would imagine he would say, Yes. The other one was Trevor Lawrence. I said, look, right now I'd say I'd take, I have a hard time picking between the two of them because Hertz has played better. But Lawrence is much more upside in my mind.
Starting point is 00:41:41 And so that was a tough one for me. They got mad about that. Dak Prescott. Now, Dak Prescott led the league in touchdown passes last year. Oh, stop. You'd take Hertz over him right now. Are you serious? You take Dak over Hertz?
Starting point is 00:41:56 I don't know if I would. I don't know if I would. 100% would. All right. By the way, in that little playoff run, he just had, he averaged throwing about 200 yards passing. And, you know, the sack numbers that he holds the ball way too long, his sack numbers, he has 38 sacks on the season,
Starting point is 00:42:13 and he threw like 200, which ties his career high from two years ago, he threw almost 200 fewer passes. He holds the ball too long. He's good. See, the way I look at it, guys, you can take one through five, and there's now a five, because Jane Daniels is now in that five. the one through five, those guys are clearly above everybody else. And then the next group of seven or eight, nine guys,
Starting point is 00:42:34 they're all kind of lumped in together, if you ask me. I'm going to help us get off this topic. Go to another quarterback, one that seems to be disgruntled with his situation with this franchise. And he's a guy that you've been very high on, Pete. You know, you didn't necessarily predict him to ever win a Super Bowl yet, but you said he's going to win multiple. That's Joe Burrow.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Do the Bengals get Jamar Chase, T. Higgins, and T. Hendrickson all done this offseason? And if they, you don't think they do, how is the long-term outlook for Burrow in Cincinnati? Do you think he's going to eventually get frustrated
Starting point is 00:43:14 and he may end up somewhere else like Carson Palmer? Look, I think, first off, I'll start with the first part of it. I think it's going to be tough to get all three of them done with long-term extension. Okay, real quick, real quick. Why do you say that when we look at Philly
Starting point is 00:43:30 and Burroughs even said this. They figure out how to make it work, so why can't Cincinnati? You can't make it work, the question becomes, do you want to make it work? And I'm saying, of course, those are good players,
Starting point is 00:43:42 but what does that do to the rest of your roster? Are they any damn good at all in defense? And, you know, Hendrick's as good as he was. Again, Pete, no, but we're talking about the Super Bowl champs literally just did this with multiple players. They have six players
Starting point is 00:43:54 who are making $20 million or more a year on their salary. Yeah, and then they supplemented by going to get a guy like Zach Bond and paying him on one-year deal, and he becomes a big part of their defense, and now he goes, now they've got to either pay him or he leaves. I get it. You can do it, Brady. That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is, if you, why not, you could tag Higgins and maybe get a market for him out there and trade them and get some assets. And then if you want to keep Hendrickson and you want to
Starting point is 00:44:21 pay Chase, okay, would I try and keep all of them absolutely? But if you, if the money gets too crazy and you can't, then I think, you have to prioritize where you want to go with it. And, you know, if you take Hendrickson off that defense, what are they? Are they any good? They're horrible. They weren't. They're going to with them. Yeah, they're going to go with them. Well, then now they're going to be even worse, and that puts even more pressure on Joe Burrow in that offense. So, yeah, I think ideally they tag Higgins, get a deal done with Chase, extend Hendrickson, because, you know, Hendrickson isn't a kid anymore either. Extend him
Starting point is 00:44:57 and then come back to Higgins and see if you can get something done it if you can't, then you pedal. Get something back for him. What about the second part of the question, though? Do you think it would get to a point? No, Joe Brown's not going anywhere. He's one of the top, he's one of the top four court. He's one of the guys. He's
Starting point is 00:45:13 an it guy. You don't get rid. You don't let that go out the door. So no, I don't think so. So you wouldn't have said that about Palmer during his time with the Bengals? Well, he also suffered a major knee injury at one point, remember? Ben Hoffa one. Dude, Burroughs had significant injuries.
Starting point is 00:45:28 Like, let's not go there. That's true. He hasn't a major knee. He hasn't, since he's been there. He had a very unique, like wrist injury, elbow wrist, like that, again, it seemed like it took a little while to work itself out this year. Yeah, but he worked it out south out all right. He threw, he had it on the MVP-type season.
Starting point is 00:45:45 But Pete, don't get distracted by it. You act like this franchise has ever built ever around any quarterback. Dang, Pete. Well, I mean, they, they built. around Boomer back in a day. Would he say that? If you asked him, would he say that? Because I've heard him talk otherwise on that.
Starting point is 00:46:02 And that's why he was Palmer's gone. That's why he said maybe Burrough one day would be. But I think the old reputation of the Bengals is a little misguided. Now, it used to be, don't get me wrong. I'm not going to sit here and defend what they used to be. So this isn't just because you're really close with a couple of people in the front office that you're like. Sounds like there's a little bias in your voice beat.
Starting point is 00:46:21 He's pretty close with a couple people. I know. I won't say names. I won't say names, Pete, but you and I both know. You're friendly. You're friendly with a few guys. Sounds like you're friendly, Pete. I'm not friendly.
Starting point is 00:46:32 I know some of them, but the reality is I don't think they're as cheap as everybody portrays in the big. Well, what are they? Tell us what they are, Pete. The question becomes, do you want to keep T. Higgins in lieu of going to help in other positions? That's basically what it comes down to. Would you?
Starting point is 00:46:48 Yes. I would. I would keep T. I keep them, too. I keep them too. but if he gets irrational, then I'm not keeping an out of trade him somewhere, get something back for him.
Starting point is 00:46:58 But that's the tag, right? Doesn't the tag remove the irrational approach to what it is you have going on? It's like you're getting a... No, you can negotiate a deal with him. That's what I'm saying. You get a non-exclusive tag. That says you're giving them the opportunity
Starting point is 00:47:12 to see what his value is on the open market. So if you come back and we've got to have a conversation about your contract, then you understand that the market has spoken and that we're most likely your best option, right? And not how it would play out, or you just stay on that non-exclusive tag, right? Or you can just tag them and then train them if you want to. I mean, you could do that too.
Starting point is 00:47:32 I think letting him leave via free agency would be the worst thing they could do. Pete Priscoe joining us here on the herd on Fox Sports Radio. Pete, who's the worst-run organization in the NFL? Dang. Good question. Jacksonville? What? No.
Starting point is 00:47:54 Pete, answer the question. Don't get me wrong. Don't get me wrong. Answer the question, Pete. When Trent Balke was in there running things, they were the worst runoff. I would answer that question by 100%... Carolina? I mean, I'll say Jacksonville, Carolina. When Trent Balke was running in the Jacksonville, Jaguars, they were the worst run organization in the league. I would agree. I would 100% agree with that.
Starting point is 00:48:15 All right. You know, the owner gives that proposition a lot of power, and that power, he brought in, you know, Urban Meyer. I mean, come on. He brought in Urban Meyer and look what happened with that. That was a disaster. And so I think, look at that whole situation, the worst run. Yeah, for that time being, it was the worst run organization. So yes, to answer that question, yes.
Starting point is 00:48:35 What about right now? Yeah, right now. Who's got it now? Well, let's see who they hire as a general manager, and I'll get back. Okay. Yeah, but they're down to five, right? They're down to five. They are down to five.
Starting point is 00:48:47 But you know what? Look, Tony Bisselli, who I know well, and Brady knows them as well. Oh, here we go again. here we go. As he knows, there's Paizons. They hired him as an executive VP
Starting point is 00:48:57 and he's going to fix the organization. He's going to hire the right GF. He's going to fix it. And it all depends on how Liam Cohen is as head coach. And I think from what I hear, he's going to be pretty good. But you never know it.
Starting point is 00:49:08 Duval. Okay, Pete. It's just football, by the way. It's not that complicated. It really isn't. Look, you know, Tony Befellie, I worked with him on radio for all those years
Starting point is 00:49:22 and had to teach him part of the game. Rick Spielman, I worked with him down here, and now he's back running the jet. I had to teach him part of the game. Brady Quinn, all over the TV everywhere. I work with him down here. I had to teach him part of the game. So it's not that complicated. It's just damn football. Pete, I love you. Way to do it. Way to do it. Way to go out guns of blades. Maybe everyone left you, Pete. Now you're the one here. All right. Everybody left for Pete. Well done, Pete. And you know what? They'll bring somebody else in to work with me. I'll teach him the finger to you.
Starting point is 00:49:54 every Sunday, too. Dang. There he is. Go get some good chicken cullets or something. The great Pete Priscoe, you can get him on X at Prisco, CBS,
Starting point is 00:50:03 and if you come for him, he does like the smoke, so he will respond on social media. Thanks, Pete, we appreciate it. All right, guys. Talk to you. There he is. Pete Prisco,
Starting point is 00:50:13 senior NFL columnist from CBS Sports, CBS Sports HQ analyst. By the way, with the exception of a couple of the singles have been in the bottom half of the league in cash spending, and especially if you take out Burroughs money.
Starting point is 00:50:27 So there you go. Yeah. I love Pete, man. You can tell he always manages an opportunity to get a few digs in, you know, he's got to take his shots. Why don't he take digs at you, man? There's just mutual respect. Just mutual respect.
