We've got, so that Saturday night, I watched the Laker Nick game, start to finish, wildly entertaining. Nicks need more scoring. Julius Randall, who's a good player. They paid huge money to. He's melting down. And we all kind of knew you had to pay him. He'd been a good soldier.

He'd play hard. But now you're overpaying him, and the Knicks are melting down, and the chemistry isn't as good. But it was fun. We got the Olympics going on. I haven't watched any of that yet. But Saturday night for the NBA, I thought, was a great showcase. L.A., New York, just a wild, wild game with all these angles

and stars getting benched. blowing up at their coach. It was so great. Well, we're starting to, you know, the All-Star Games next weekend. So we're starting to get into the thick of the NBA season as the NFL season is ending. The story lines are starting to play out. We're starting to see what teams are really for real. So we'll get a lot more of that kind of basketball moving forward. All right. We do it every Monday all year long. Used to just be a football segment and we decided let's just do it all year long because I'm wrong enough

and sometimes right enough to do it. It's Colin right, calling wrong on a Monday. Here we go. Where Colin was right. I said years ago, and I've been on this, that when Russell Westbrook starts to age, it will be fast and he will fall off a cliff. When your game is built on just athleticism, you age poorly. Westbrook Saturday night was an utter disaster. Fans were booing him and asking him not to shoot. Where Colin was right?

Trying to contain Malik Monk. Westbrook thought about it. Crowd kind of telling him no. And he missed it. I know y'all love him. I was about five years ahead of you on this. He's aging exactly as I predicted. Where Colin was right?

Tom Brady's retirement. After the season, I was told, and I said this, that it was a better than 50% chance, and he was sort of getting tired of the looseness of the franchise in Tampa. I also noted that he said he was satisfied with his season, which is so un-Bradie-like after being eliminated as a franchise. a big favorite at home. But I had talked to people who told me it's different. He's kind of worn out from Tampa. He doesn't see him coming back. And we were right. Where Colin was wrong. But situationally,

I said a month ago, I didn't think he would retire because the NFC is now so mediocre to bad at quarterback. He virtually, and Tom is obsessed by winning, has the NFC south to himself until the Saints can figure out what to do with quarterback. In Carolina, Atlanta, similarly, can figure out what to do with the sports most important position. But Tom decided, even though another division title was in his sights, and it surprised me, with all those weapons, everything in place, Brady decided to shut it down. Where Colin was right? Well, we said last week, Jimmy Garoppolo, to me, was worth a third round pick and maybe a player.

Well, according to Matt Lombardo of fan-sided, the Niners want a second-round draft pick or a third-round pick and a player for Jimmy Garoppolo. Listen, the Niners and most teams who are in a Super Bowl window are not in love with having a bunch of picks because a lot of times they don't have that many openings for players and they want experienced players. I've been told the Niners would love to get somebody to shore up their corner

position, give them a third round. round pick and like a Joe Hayden maybe for the 49ers, and the Steelers could have Garoppolo. Where Colin was right? I was always, and cynical's the wrong word, but I never bought into the Brooklyn Nets being anything more than wildly talented. They've now lost eight straight. I didn't think Kyrie and Hardin, two ball-centric guards were a great fit. I think Kyrie Irving is a chemistry killer everywhere. Kyrie and Hardin are unique

otherworldly talents, but both can get the injury bug. And then you gave him Steve Nash. And Nash is really a smart guy, but that's a lot to coach in your first job. Also, the downside of this, and Joy and I both talked about this, when you have

three expensive guys, you don't have much of a bench. And if one of them gets hurt, you have KD playing 45 minutes in a playoff game because you've got no guys that can score off the bench. So, Not shocked that it's bad. Never thought it would get this bad, but right now, currently, it's a mess. Where Colin was wrong.

I thought Jim Harbaugh was going to go to the NFL. After beating Ohio State, I was told he was absolutely interested in going to the pros. And I was told that a month ago by somebody I trust. Well, I've also been told that he wanted the Vikings job and was very much believed he had it and didn't get it. At 4419 and 1, he's a great guy. candidate. But I will say this about Harbaugh. I think he's great for college football. I think he's great for Michigan. And I love Michigan football. I think it's a, you know, I love college football. I like the big brands winning, right? Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma, all that stuff.

But he's not terribly collaborative. And it's the McVeigh effect you are seeing all over the NFL where people want young coaches who are not authoritarian, who work well with others, who work well with quarterbacks. And the one thing I'll say about Jim Harbaugh, even though he's a former quarterback, it's been the one position at Michigan he's yet to hit a home run with. So I think the skepticism with Jim at the NFL and the pushback is real. He said he now is all in on Michigan. I'll wait and see for that.

I think his name's going to come up in a couple of years. But I was wrong on that. I thought he would take an NFL job. Where Colin was right? During the college football season, I said, from what I'm reading, it's not a very good quarterback class. But the one kid I was impressed with was Kenny Pickett from Pittsburgh. And boy, he looks like the part.

Pickett played only in the first quarter, six for six, looks like a pro, big, athletic, mobile, and a ton of college start. So you know he's an experienced guy and he can play at the next level. So this is not a shock. This is the guy as we watched. We said, it's not a great draft. that looks like an NFL starting quarterback for me, as long as he lands on anything other than a total tire fire. Where Colin was right?

Oregon fans often complain about Mario Cristobal not being a good in-game coach. But I felt Miami he would be an absolute home run. He's from there. He's got a presence. And Miami, unlike Oregon, is surrounded by world-class high school football talent. Well, over the weekend, they've got now the best Miami staff since Jimmy Johnson was there. Josh Gaddis, the offensive coordinator, Kevin Steele, the defensive coordinator. This is a great college staff.

This is the kind of staff that could win a national championship. Their recruiting is off the hook. The one thing about Mario Cristobal, you stand next to him, I have a couple of times. He fills the room up. He can recruit. He's a good-looking guy. He's Uber confident. and the Miami hurricanes feel like this is about as good as start for six to eight weeks as a college football coach could have.

It feels like all those Miami kids going to the SEC schools, watch them stay home. And watch Miami probably by mid to the end of this year start to look like they can play at another level. Very exciting. I was saying this for years and years. USC and Miami, college football's highest ratings, USC and Miami were good. That doesn't mean Ohio State's not. And Notre Dame's not, and the SEC's not.

Or Oklahoma's not. It's not what it means. But big city, coastal, swag works for the sport. You were just talking about how fans really like glamour. Of course they do. You do. We all like... But it doesn't feel cool to say that you've,

like stuff that is shiny and cool. It's better to be like a hipster or like a hand in the dirt guy. No one wants to come out and be like, yeah, I really enjoy watching superstars win and big brands and fancy shiny stuff. Yeah, yeah, it feels way cooler to be like, I'm going to downsize my house and live in one of those tiny houses that are 400 square feet in the toilets next to the kitchen. And I am good for the, you know, it's like, no, it's okay if you want to pool in the backyard. It's okay. It's okay if you want a sports car. They're fun. Yeah. I've never had a convertible sports car. but they look like fun to me. Well, sports is entertainment.

Yes. And what's fun? Big, glamour, fun. Yeah, yeah. I always say, everybody says they love defense. No, you love your team's defense. But if I told you the Super Bowl was going to be six to three or 28, 27, what would you choose? You'd all choose 28.

20. If I said, God, Burrow is 30 for 40, Stafford's 28 for 38. And you've got, I mean, just Jamar Chase and Cooper Cup, you'd be like, I'll sign up for that. Or you have 11 first downs at 6-3. Remember that Patriot 13-3 Super Bowl? Yeah, it was boring. It's boring. Got a bad rating.

Patriots fans loved it. Nobody else did. I mean, nobody else did. It's like, don't tell me you love defense and underdogs. It's not true. It's just a hipster argument. It is. Like, you just don't get it.

Yeah. Defense is what it's all about. No, I turn the channel. You give me, nothing against TCU football. But when Oklahoma scoring 50 in their heyday, that's better football than me. All right, we got a lot of stuff. Jimmy Johnson, the Hall of Famer is around the corner.

And years ago, when I first came to Fox, it wasn't on my contract, but they asked me, do you want to work on the Sunday show? There's the book, Swagger. And I didn't really want to get up on Sunday morning at like five in the morning. But I quickly learned the greatest part about doing my Sunday show. was that I would get there early and Jimmy's always the first to show up and I'd just pepper him with questions for 15 minutes. He would tolerate all my nonsense and it was just fascinating to watch his mind work on how to build a college program. I've stolen so much

of Jimmy's information and passed it off as my own. He now joins us live, Jimmy Johnson, the Hall of Famer. I'll say, people say, where'd you come out with that cowherd? And I'll say, oh, it's just my ideas. They're all my ideas. So I want you to tell me, so Sean McVeigh's first Super Bowl, it was pretty darn rough. He got out coached and he acknowledged it. And in fact, Jimmy, he said he over-prepared. He was very rigid. So I want you to go back, your first Super Bowl, your second.

Were there things you took from it? Well, first of all, my first Super Bowl, we had two weeks to prepare for Buffalo and we needed it because they of no huddle offense when teams didn't run no huddle. My second Super Bowl, we only had one week to prepare. But I had talked to a lot of people that had been to Super Bowls before and went through all the procedures. And the number one thing they talked about was you don't want to have the players distracted or yourself distracted.

There's so many events going on. There's so many media requests that you've got to put up with. And, you know, you've got a lot of things. that take away from your concentration on football. And so you've got to have, you know, half a dozen people, somebody in charge of the ticket, somebody in charge of hotel rooms, somebody in charge of the events, and tell your players get all that stuff taken care of the first few days,

you know, when you still have 10 days to prepare. Now, some of those knuckleheads waited until the last minute, that's why you have to have people, you know, helping them. But, you know, just to give you one little quick story, mother and daddy talked about coming to Los Angeles for the Super Bowl and I said you know mom I said you know I'm going to be busy you know it's going to be a business trip and I said I won't have time to spend with you anyway why don't you watch it on TV and so you know I had them stay at home because I didn't want to be distracted now Rush Limbaugh went on the radio and just rent me saying he ho he didn't even let his mother and daddy come to the game you know but that was my focus I wanted to make sure I was was focused on football and not all the events and get carried away because those players will get distracted. Yeah, I mean, you know, Jimmy, it's interesting.

And I started my show today talking about this, is that when you have chaos or mayhem or a lack of continuity in your childhood or your football career, it's just difficult. And Matt Stafford was a great high school quarterback, a great college quarterback, a number one pick. how he made the playoffs in Detroit year three, and then he just couldn't overcome the nonsense and the bad executive decisions. And I do think to my sense, nothing against Aaron Rogers,

but if Stafford wins Sunday, he can have a better winning percentage in the playoffs, one year with a well-run organization. For years and years, when you watched Stafford in Detroit, did you think he would be this successful, this quickly in L.A.? I guess I did,

for the simple reason, I listened to my buddy Terry Bradshaw. Every time Detroit would be on TV, he said, I love Stafford. I love his throwing motion. I love everything he does. If he was just on a good football team, I heard that for years. And so when Stafford was traded to the Rams, we all just celebrated because, hey, we said, now he's going to an outstanding organization.

He's going to be surrounded by some great players. And we'll just see how good he is. We'll see if he's as good as, You think he is, Terry. Yeah, and he's pretty good. You know, Joe Burrell is fascinating. He got hurt. He didn't get selected as the starter at Ohio State.

Goes to LSU. It's pretty average of first year. Second year he's great. Goes to Cincinnati gets hurt. I got to be honest with you. I thought when he came out, I said he reminds me a Tony Romo. He's a little mobile, good arm, not great. A little bit of a playmaker.

But he's not going to drive the ball down the field like an Akeman or a a big he's better than I thought there's something I can't explain what do you make of his success i love him i think he's a great player and i had some inside information my buddy who worked for me who really knows offense north turner work with jordan palmer working out all the quarterbacks there in california for you know three or four years working out the darnall and rosen and you know baker mayfield all those quarterbacks well He called after he worked out Burrell. He said he is the best I have ever seen.

Wow. And this was before the draft. He said, this guy is something else. He said every pass is pinpoint accuracy. He said he's got the swagger. He's got such confidence. He said he's got unbelievable confidence. And that carries over the people around him.

So Norv told me about him right off the bat. And that's one reason why everybody was trying to try. up to get it. Yeah. A couple questions. His book is called Swagger. I'll show that again. So, there it is. You know, Jimmy looks all tough and mean there, but he's a softie if you know him. So I thought Harbaugh was going to take the NFL job. And my reason was this, Jimmy, the transfer portal. You got more control over your professional players now than your college kids. And I think that's a big turnoff. Are you surprised he didn't get or take an NFL job? I'm surprised he didn't get it because he had a connection there with the general manager.

And so, but, you know, Harbaugh, he's a little bit of a strange bird. He can be a little bit irritating, you know, just talking to him. And sometimes he's off the wall, but he's an outstanding football coach. Yeah. And so maybe that had something to do it, do with it. But, you know, it sounded like he wanted the job. it just sounded like they decided going a different direction. You created, when you were with the Cowboys,

I think most people know this. Many do not. You created a draft chart that is used in the NFL today. So the New York Giants had done one trade ever before your big trade. I mean, nobody traded. I mean, I remember as a kid. People just didn't trade me. That was an NBA thing or a baseball thing.

It wasn't a football thing. And so I make the argument, if I'm the Niners, I don't want draft picks for Garoppolo because I'm in a Super Bowl window. Give me a corner. Right. What would you give up? Now, you wouldn't give up the farm for Jimmy

because of his injuries. I know you wouldn't. But what seems reasonable, if you were the Niners, what would you want back in return that would seem reasonable? I think there's a couple of things. First of all, you've got to get a couple of teams

interested in so that they can bet against each other. I would think that you would start right off the bat. You'd ask for the world. You'd say, hey, give me a late one, which you're not going to get. But then if you get a couple of teams interested in him, you might be able to say, okay, somebody might say, I'll give you a three, and if he plays well, it will move it up to a two. And I think that would be reasonable.

But again, if it's only one team interested in him, and you've got to wait it out to where you get a couple of teams, interested in him because quarterbacks are hard to find. And he's got an outstanding winning percentage. That's right. So you never can tell. You might even get somebody desperate that might say, hey, I'll move it all the way up to a one if we win enough games and if he participates enough, if he plays in enough games.

Yeah. I want to talk. He's got a book out called Swagger about his days with the Cowboys, the Dolphins, and the Miami Hurricanes, Jimmy Johnson, the Hall of Fame are our guest. first of all um jerry's an interesting personality and you know i'm better than able to is that is that how you describe jerry he's he's complex i'll say that he is very complex so obviously you and parcells jerry likes to have a little more power he doesn't you know and i and i like jason garrett but jason won't going to push back you were going to push back bill was

going to push back. Chan Galey, not going to push back. Chan, that's not his personality or Jason's. I know that. I am a little surprised. The quarterback draw, multiple penalties, the clock management. What do you, and he retains, I don't mind him retaining the entire staff, but I was a little surprised that McCarthy hung on. How do you think Jimmy's think, Jerry's thinking here?

Because I got to tell you, he got ripped. by the Dallas media, the national media, they're like, hey, we got too many examples of clock management losing games. What was your takeaway on that? Well, Jerry, he doesn't ever want to admit that he's wrong. And so he's going to hang with whoever, Jason Garrett or whoever, and try to make it work. And, you know, I think he really values the talent on that team such that he feels like McCarthy can be successful. and he can improve, especially with Dan Quinn and with Kellanmore with the assistance that he's got. So that's a big thing.

And Jerry is involved. It's kind of a funny story. See, Jerry really never came out to practice. He's always trying to pay the bills, trying to pay off that $140 million loan. So, you know, he was always working on that. And so the only time he came out to practice, my five years there, he would come out on the rubber track the last 15 minutes of practice so he could talk. to the media. And so Troy Aitman tells the story. He said, after you left talking to me,

he said, and Barry Switzer came on as coach. He said, I knew things have changed because our first practice, Jerry walked out on the practice field with a baseball hat and coaching shards but Troy said, things are different. You know, what's interesting about that cowboy, you know, every coach has a strength. Like I've always said, I think Belichick's brilliant. I don't love as drafting all the time. I view you as a great personnel guy. That's why you were so successful in college in the pros. You had a

real sense for personnel. I look at the Cowboys now, and here's my issue. I don't think Zeke, on some Sundays, is their best running back. I don't know if I can afford their tight end, but I need his production. And Dak without Amari

is not quite the same quarterback. They got some issues here on the offensive side, Jimmy. what do you do with Zeke? Yeah, I think with his contract, it's going to be difficult to deal him. It's going to be difficult to release him. And they've got to live with him. But you're right, Pollard was a better running back most weeks this year.

The other thing is, you know, you talk about the tight end, you know, whether or not they can keep him or not, probably not. And then you talk about Cooper, you know, Amari Cooper is the best route runner. they have the most dependable receiver they have when he's healthy. C.D. Lamb just wasn't utilized enough. Like in the last game that they lost, he was only targeted a couple of times. You got one or more exciting receivers in the entire league, and you don't target it. You throw it to a tight end that's going to give you 10 yards. So there were some issues, especially there in that last ball game.

All right. A lot to do. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, this offseason could be the end of Aaron Rogers with the Packers, but CEO Mark Murphy has made it clear they would love for him to return.

He said we are significantly over the salary cap next year and we'll have to make many difficult decisions in order to get under the cap. The key factor will be whether Aaron Rogers comes back for the 2022 season, coach Matt LaFleur, and GM Brian Gungo. executive vice president and director of football operations. Russ Ball and I are all in agreement that we want Aaron to come back. But I do believe, and it's fair to say this, is that because of his cap hit and Devante Adams' new contract, which you have to bring him back, it will, they're going to have to me. I think Green Bay's peaked.

That doesn't mean they can't win their division. But I do feel like the last two to three years where you didn't have to pay Devonne Adams huge money and yet he was a huge star. I kind of feel like the next version is going to be a less talented version of Green Bay. It's a cap reality. It's what Seattle deals with Russell Wilson's contract. And now then you overpay for Jamal Adams and you just get stuck. And I think we've talked about this.

Yeah, but I mean, if you have to choose between the quarterback or the receiver. That's right. But I mean, I think Green Bay said we're going to go all in for this three-year period and they got to conference champion. That's why losing to Brady at Lambo and losing this year. is double punitive because this was really the team the last three years built to win Super Bowls. Yeah, it's a bad situation. Like he said, there's significantly over the salary cap. It's not going to be the same roster next year.

This is another reason why I don't think Aaron Rogers is going to be back there. Now, they want Aaron Rogers back there because you can't lose a bunch of great players when you already went all in on these last couple years, as you mentioned, and then also lose your quarterback. You don't have a quarterback in Jordan Love. Like, we haven't seen a lot of him, but it's pretty obvious at least at this point, he's not the guy. So this isn't going to be the same team.

I just feel like the Green Bay story has been told. Like, I've seen it. I've watched this movie. I've got the sequels. I get it. Don't need to run it back again. Like it's starting to become diluted. And the expectations in the postseason at this point would not be very high.

Like you're going to win your division. Great. Great. Like you're not going to Super Bowls. With that talents, with the number one seed, with back-to-back MVP's, you should be in Super Bowls. And you're not. So I would be very surprised of Aaron Rogers retires this year. I don't see that happening.

I mean, could you imagine Ben Rothesberger, Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers retiring the same year? What's Canton going to do? You got to build new hotels. You got to have a whole two-week span of the Hall of Fame ceremony. But they have the best odds to get Aaron to come back next season at plus 100, according to Fox bet. The Packers do. Broncos plus 160, bucks, which I think is a ridiculous option. I mean, why would you want to go to Tampa Bay after?

after Tom Brady just left there. Viren Rogers. I get it. It's still a good roster. I may be crazy on this, but I think Tampa is perfect for Garapolo because they have some pieces that San Francisco could use

to shore up parts of their team. And Garapolo, if not the future, because they have a young quarterback, gives you another year or two. I mean, Tampa looks at themselves and says, we believe if we get a quarterback right, we're in a Super Bowl window. Tampa's not going to go from Tom to the Trask. They're not going to do that.

They're going to the roster's too good. They've got too many big contracts. But there's not a lot of, there's not a lot available on the market. I think Jimmy would be good there. But when you're looking at this list, these options for Aaron Rogers, right? Aaron Rogers wants to go somewhere. Do you have the list? So it's the Packers, Broncos, Bucks, Steelers, and Niners have the best odds to land him.

Where Aaron Rogers goes next, he wants to obviously try to win a Super Bowl. He doesn't want to go to a rebuild. So if you're looking at the places that need a quarterback that could make a move to get him, where is he going to go that you would feel would be Super Bowl contenders as soon as he gets there? Because I don't know if the Broncos are. I know everyone's very high on the Broncos and they have a great roster, but that's still a really, really tough division. It's not that simple.

You may be a wildcar, which is not impossible, but, like, I don't know. I don't know that there's a surefire place that he goes right away that they are Super Bowl contenders. I do think the cults is interesting, though. Yeah. I still think the cults. So according to multiple sources, the Texans are very close to hiring defensive coordinator, Levy Smith,

as their next head coach. Multiple reports had Brian Flores, Jonathan Gannon of the Eagles and Josh McCown as finalists for the job. His NFL record as a head coach was 89 and 87. He was 3 in the playoffs. He was formerly the head coach of the Bears

from 2004, 2012, 65 and 57, including his Super Bowl appearance. They haven't won. a playoff game since he was fired from there from the Bears. No, I mean, Levy can coach. It's just I, this is, I just don't, nothing about the Texans stream screams competitive. This is, this is now the worst run professional sports franchise, I would argue, in America.

It's really bad. All of them, all leagues. This is the worst run professional sports franchise. Well, they don't know what they're doing at the quarterback position because it's still up in the air with Deshawn Watson. Davis Mills is in the second year of a four-year contract with the team. Obviously, they just fired David Cully after one season there. Pep Hamilton is expected to remain as the office of coordinator and Josh McCown could reportedly join the staff.

But it's just the front office and everything that goes on there is just very disconnected. Why is it taken so long for them to make a hire? I don't know. I'm with you. I feel bad for Texans fans because it's just so dysfunctional. It's the last 10 years of Al Davis's life. The Raiders had no chance. They had no chance to compete.

So for the second time this season, Russell Westbrook was benched to close out a game. but this time the Lakers won 122, 115 in overtime. So Westbrook didn't seem as upset by the decision. Yeah, it happens, man. You know, miss some shots that I normally make. But like I said, man, I don't want to keep making it about me. Like, when I, you know, when I play bad, you guys ask me a ton of questions.

And then when I have the good, you know, when I shoot the ball well, I don't really hear too many of those questions. So I don't want to keep making it about me and what I'm doing. Like, we won the game tonight. And that's the most important part. I love his answer.

By the way, you can say what you want, and I've been critical of Russell Westbrook, but he's not wrong, mirror. And the other thing is, you can't tell me there's not value. He's giving you minutes. He is just aging kind of as hyperathletic players do who don't shoot well. By the way, John Wall is not as athletic, although he's super athletic. John Wall's aged poorly. He was, could never, not Derek Rose, by the way.

Really great athletes, but boy, that peak is about 24 to 30. and then you fall off a cliff. Now, John Morant's hyperathletic, but his game to me has way more layers, his passing, his leadership. But I will say this. Westbrook had a smile on his face. He's handling it about as well as a star would handle getting benched and kind of mocked. Well, I've just never felt like this year was about Russell Westbrook. I think maybe the media and fans have made it about Russell Westbrook.

And because he's not really a winning player, he's more of a stats guy than a winning player. it's this idea that he was going to be like the piece for them is kind of silly. Like this season, as it always has been, rides on Anthony Davis. Yeah. We know what LeBron James is going to be. We know what he's going to bring to the table. And he is playing tremendous in this season. He's probably going to lead the league in scoring.

But what happens with the Lakers should never have fallen on Russell Westbrook, he should have never been lauded as the piece that was going to be the difference, setting himself up for this, setting these expectations up for Russell. Russell Westbrook. Anthony Davis is the other star. Yeah. He's the 1A, not Russell Westbrook. So really putting all this attention and expectations on him, maybe have also

empowered Russell Westbrook to be in the situation that he is, to be asked those questions, to be booed by the fans, to have that kind of influence on the locker room. Anthony Davis, like, he's the guy that was brought here to be next to LeBron James. Him being healthy and on the court. If he is healthy and on the court, they're good. They're good. It's not on Russell

I think the Joe Burrell story, there are certain players in the media.

The media falls in love with Cam Newton was one where Cam was never as good as the media, but Cam was easy to embrace. He was good looking. He was flashy. He was unique. He handed you stories. Cam just, you know, I mean, he's running around. He's unique.

And then there's guys like Brady, whose first seven or eight years in the league, he just didn't give you much to grab onto. It wasn't flashy. It wasn't really a glamorous style. You had to dig deep for the stories. And the media can be lazy and they go for the easy clicks and the easy stories. Like Patrick Mahomes is built for the media. Huge arm, arm angles, a lot of national commercials, high scoring offense.

That's easy. Aaron Rogers, good looking, has a lot of opinions. Big arm, big brand, easy. Joe Burroughs in Cincinnati. He doesn't give you much. He has no national commercials. He's not a glamorous player. It's not an arm angle thing.

It reminds me so much of an early Brady where he just goes back, sees the field, delivers strikes, all over the field, down the seam, outside, drag routes, doesn't matter. Always throws like Brady to the right player at the right time. But, you know, it's interesting. Mahomes is so flashy that the media went, I thought, a little overboard. Although, you know, I think Mahomes is going to be winning Super Bowls for a long time. And he's an easy kid to root for. But he's got a better owner, a better coach, a better online, better personnel, and a better roster than Joe Burrow.

And Joe Burroughs 2-0 against Mahomes. And Burrow is working with the worst offensive line, arguably, that made the playoffs. And in two games against the Kansas City Chiefs, Burroughs got six touchdowns, one pick, 118 passer rating. He has eaten this Chief's defense. a good defense, eating it alive. So it's going to be very interesting is that Dan Marino had this similar quality. Marino was made for the media. Big strapping, good-looking, Miami, the most natural thrower of the football I've ever seen in my life.

And the media just loved Marino and his games. And Brett Farve, to a large degree, was built for the media. The gunslinger, Madden just adored. him. Brett was, you know, you can just put your arms around him. He was a good old boy and went to Green Bay and the hunting cap on. It's just an easy story. Some guys, they don't give you a lot. You've got to dig deep for the stories. And what Burrow is doing makes almost no sense. It makes almost no sense. The idea that a football team that lost seven games, five to non-playoff teams, they barely outgained their opponents this year. They were outgained by the rate.

in the first round. Surrender nine sacks to the Titans. We're getting blown out on the road at Kansas City. So the Rams makes sense for being here. There's a lot, you look at their defensive front, you look at the receivers, you look at their coach, you look at their quarterback, you look at their protection. The Rams make a ton of sense. And I will say this is that I hate betting against teams with explosive playmakers like Cincinnati,

but I could absolutely envision 37 to 17. I can see Cincinnati getting completely rolled. I'm not saying they will. But the Rams being here makes complete sense. The Bengals not being here makes none, really. There was an argument to be made. They have the fourth best roster in their division. Before Baltimore fell apart this year,

their roster's not as good as Cleveland. Absolutely not. I don't think it's as good as Pittsburgh. It was better than Baltimore at the end because they'd fallen apart. But if you go to the opening week roster, virtually every magazine that covers this or every blogger website would have had that as the fourth best roster in the AFC North and then in the Super Bowl. And going on the road, road to Tennessee and road to Kansas City. It's just, it is really incredible.

Nick Wright said this earlier today. If Joe Burrow wins, wrap your arms around this. See the best quarterback in football. Brady's gone. It's not Aaron Rogers. Losing it home again is a favorite. It's not Aaron. who's basically 500 in the playoffs.

Who's the best quarterback in football? Well, Mahomes. Burrow beats him head to head. Who is it? Not Russell Wilson off the year he had. Who's the best quarterback in football Monday if Burrow wins? It's Burrow. This is not baseball.

We don't do OBB and you're on base percentage and your whip. We don't care about that stuff. It's winning games. It's winning games. And unlike Brady, when he started his dynasty, it was mostly about defense. This is not about defense. This is about Joe Burrell picking teams apart.

So he was the best college quarterback. You know, Josh Allen's a greater physical presence. Mahomes is more uniquely gifted in some areas. I'm not disputing that. Russell Wilson moves better. Aaron throws a prettier ball. I'm not disputing any of that. He's the best quarterback in the league if he wins Sunday.

What's the argument? This is not the NBA. where a lot of times you don't even have to be a winning basketball player. You could be Alan Iverson, but you have so much credibility in the sport. Or baseball where, you know, like A-Rod wasn't a very good postseason player. Barry Bonds wasn't early in his career either, but we kind of think of Ken Griffey never got to the playoffs much with the Mariners, but you can still argue that the best player in the game. And football, you've got to win games.

Montana won games. Payton Manning won games. Brady won games. I don't know what you say if Burrow wins. It's just crazy that they're here. It just doesn't make any sense. sense at all. Well, him beating Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs twice this season, it helps for that argument to Nick's point. Like, if they hadn't played each other or they played each other

once earlier in the season when the Chiefs were kind of still struggling, then there'd be more to that conversation. But they beat the Chiefs in Week 17. Yeah. And then they went to Arrowhead and beat him again. And Nick Wright, who is a born-and-bred Chiefs fan, talked about Burrell. No, if he wins, he gets to say he's the best quarterback in football. Whether I would believe it or not, like, if Joe Burroughs football life of the last few years is undefeated college football champion, Heisman Trophy, best statistical season ever, then injury, then Super Bowl champion. And in route to winning the Super Bowl, you go two and oh against the best quarterback in football, Patrick Mahomes. Then you get to be the best quarterback in football. Yeah, suddenly.

There's not much argument. there's not much argument and also Zach Taylor was 625 and 1 pre-burrow so it's not like he moved into this wonderful situation they were a tire fire and he completely turned it around and we still don't think I still contend I think they're better in the secondary
