IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, and FS1. Trent Dill for five minutes. Colin right and wrong in a minute. Jason McIntyre is joining us. Last night was fun you very rarely get. We got a little bit of this MJ Kobe, a tiny bit, where you get the next legend and the goat. You don't get it.

We didn't get like Gretzky and Howe on the ice at the same time. You just don't get that. It's so amazing to me. Here's the next one. Here's the old head, the goat. They played six times. They're split at three. And I thought to myself, wouldn't this be the Super Bowl?

The final time they play, it's the breaker. Three and three, six games in, both been phenomenal. they meet for a seventh time and Tom's leaving. Patrick's taking over the league. I mean, listen, Tommy's velocity. I'm not some quarterback here. Tom Brady's velocity is not an issue. You get him in the red zone.

He made a couple throws last night. One to Mike Evans in the corner. It is just on point. Hips, feet, accuracy, velocity. Tom is still bringing it. Give me Patrick Mahomes as watchability over Brady any day. Well, of course. Oh, gosh.

I'm not not. It's great. So here we go. Colin Wright, Colin wrong in a Monday. Let's fire away. Where Colin was right. Listen, during the preseason, everybody kept telling me, Romeo Dobbs, Green Bay is going to take over the league.

He's having a great preseason. And then I said, timeout. It's the preseason. NFL teams don't even play starting corners in the preseason. This is going to take a long time to be good. Aaron Rogers history is you got to build a lot of trust. Jordy Nelson, Devonte Adams. Guys, he loved.

took a long time. I think Romeo Dobbs is really good. Not going to tear up the league. It just doesn't work that way. Not with Aaron, not in this league. He had a fumble in the first half. Aaron didn't go back to him for two and a half quarters. So this has become what I thought,

a super clever, talented kid growing pains, slowly growing with Aaron Rogers. Where Colin was wrong. Blazing five, two and three. We still have a winning record on the year. You know what? You know where I really whiffed Jaguars Eagles? I think Philadelphia is better than any of us think.

Because I think Jacksonville is going to win that division, and I think Jacksonville's got ballers everywhere. I like everything about Jacksonville, and they got pushed around in that second half. Where Colin was right? Well, I said last week, if you have a great quarterback, a franchise quarterback, he'll be the solution. Stop blaming receivers did this, or O-line did this. Justin Herbert's on the road, defensive coach, no left tackle,

no Bosa, no Keenan Allen, and put up monster numbers. It was unbelievable. 340-some yards, two touchdowns, 113 pass-a-rating. That's why when you defend these average quarterbacks, well, they have a lot of drops. You know who leads the NFL and drop passes last three years? Mahomes, Brady second. This is what a franchise quarterback looks like. On the road, you're missing your star receiver, your best defensive player,

your all pro-bowl level left tackle. you're not running the ball consistently, and Herbert is unstoppable for big chunks of the game. Where Colin was wrong. I think I made a big mistake on the Denver Broncos. I had them winning the division. I do not believe they're going to win the division. I think this happened from time to time. I saw it with Ben McAdoo.

I saw it with Freddie Kitchens. You hire a coach. He's a nice guy, but he's kind of an assistant. And I just don't see it. The defense now is regressing. I don't know what they are offensively. You got to, listen, even if you, I don't. don't know if Robert Sol is going to work, but I do feel like I know what he is.

Aggressive, high energy. I don't know what Nathaniel Hackett is. It's not working. I mean, Russell Wilson leads him in rushing, still throws a beautiful deep ball. They've got talent. They have 12 first downs against the Raiders defense. 12 in 3.5 hours. Where Colin was right.

Listen, y'all love to pile on me when Sam Darnold struggles, but you told me that Baker to Carolina, you'll see the real talent. He's worse than Darnold. He's completing 54% of his throws, pass a rating mid-70s. What Baker is, is not talented enough to overcome an average coach and an average offensive line. For the record, that is the same with Sam Narnold in the NFL.

You have said there's a huge gap between the two. You pile on when Baker has some success. I got news for you. If Sam Darnold would have played with Nick Chub, OBJ, that offensive line, chances are he would have wanted more football games too. Donald and Baker, neither is worked, neither is much greater than the other. Where Colin was wrong. I thought the Steelers would at least wait until like week 8, 9, 10 to pull Mitch Trubisky,

but Mike Tomlin, who's a very patient guy, who is not prone to knee-jerk reactions, pulled Mitch Trubisky in week four. I applaud him for it. I think it's the right move. I think this is the year that you get 12, 13, 14 starts with Kenny Pickett. Next year, there's going to be six, seven first round quarterbacks may be taken. That's what they're saying now. You'll know what you have.

He was a little overwhelmed yesterday. That's okay. It's his first start. He didn't take all the snaps. Let's now watch Kenny Pickett this week. He takes all the first string snaps. I think you'll see a better version of Kenny Pickett. Where Colin was right?

When Carson Wentz left Indy and they blamed. him for everything. I said, he may not be as good as I think, but he had 27 touchdowns and seven picks. He wasn't the blame. The Colts can't score without him. They're bad. They are last in everything. Points, giveaways. Listen, he's not tearing it up in Washington, but just say this out loud. Quarterback rating in the mid-90s, 27 TDs, seven picks. Do you sound like the problem for a football team? This team does not have enough dinners. Playmakers. I've always said I overvalued him because of his size and his arm.

But the idea that he, Ursay went crazy, that he was the problem in Indianapolis, he's not the problem. They got stuff going on at wide receiver and tight end. They're just not dynamic enough. Where Colin was wrong. The Seahawks are way better than I thought. I don't even know what's going on with Gino Smith. But I'll say this. They drafted two offensive tackles.

They're both home runs. There's better protection. Rashad Penny. Finally, Rashad Penny has come into his own. Gino is moving. It looks a little thinner. He's moving better. You know, maybe, yeah, there's Rashad Penny, who they got in the first round. He is finally in good shape and he's healthy. Their offensive lines better. Gino's like third and passer rating. That's Will Disley. I thought they were going to be Atlanta. But they've got some punch offensively.

I've got to tell you something. Next year they got two first, two second, two-fourths. If Bryce Young or whoever they get at quarterback can play or Gino, they got their future looking at him, that old line now is solved. That was an issue for Russell's last five years. That old line is solved, in my opinion. Where Colin was right. All right.

Brian Kelly loses early in the season. He does that cringy social stuff and you're all bailing on him. Brian Kelly and LSU, Mississippi State, Auburn. Here they go. He and Jaden Daniels have been. terrific together, 68% completion percentage, six touchdowns, no picks. Brian Kelly's won everywhere he's been. You don't think he's going to work at LSU, which is an absolute football factory.

The recruiting's good. You can't take over a company, a football program, in the SEC, and think, yeah, you're just going to win all your games. He's got new coordinators, new players, a new quarterback. I've always liked Jaden Daniels. I liked him in Tempe. I think he's a very clever player. Don't know if he gets drafted, but he's a very good college quarterback, and Brian Kelly's O has been a great coach.

Where Colin was wrong. Oklahoma's a disaster. I thought they were the second best team in the country. They can't stop anybody. I mean, Brett Venables is supposed to be a defensive guy. There are major holes in the secondary. Their tackling is terrible. Assignment football.

Don't tell me Venables needs his own guys. Folks, they are poorly coached. There are massive holes everywhere. They look disorganized. The tackling is atrocious. They're getting gashed on the ground. Where Colin was right? Before the season, we said the best team in college football that nobody will talk about is UCLA.

They're 5'0. Now, here comes Utah, which could be a wake-up call. But Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been effective, the multiple-year starter. They have an NFL running back, nice pieces on the outside, got some veterans up front. Washington's a real team, and they housed them. Their quarterback's got 11 TDs in one pick, and I know Chip Kelly may not be a media darling, and a lot of NFL fans don't like him. But this is the best UCLA team.

The Transfer Portal did them very well. They picked up some nice defensive players, pass rushers, and the Transfer Portal. This is a very solid top 15 team. It may be closer to 15 than 10, but that's a good football team. And with that, Trent Dilfer, Super Bowl champ, Lipscomb Academy head football coach. I like my quarterbacks to become coaches because I think that's where the league is pivoting. And that's why I like Lincoln Riley and Chip Kelly. And I like these guys.

That's where the game's moving. So let's talk about this. Lamar Jackson's a very emotional player. I like my players to be emotional, not my quarterbacks. And I'm seeing a little trend that if he has a bad. pick or a bad series, it multiples, it dominoes. And I think to myself, one of the reasons I love Lamar, he cares so much. And one of the things I'm seeing is he cares so much. And there is this emotional discipline, Trent, that a pick six, you just got to get over it. And I worry a little bit

that he wears his emotions on his sleeve and he's become a good half, bad half player. Your thoughts? It's really the only thing I worry about with Lamar Jackson. I think I'm as bullish on him as anybody in football. I think he's one of the top five players in the league. He truly is a Superman-type player and leader. He has a dynamic impact on his organization. He talked to players in that organization.

He's by far the leader of that team. But yes, I think you're on to something here. It's something that's really hard to learn when you're an emotional-type player, that you can't let the ebb and flows of a game get you off track. Every play has to be the most important play of your life, period. And then you reset and move on. And it's a really hard thing to learn. Some of us never learn it.

I think right now it's kind of that Brett Farr mentality. Brett went hot, nobody in the history of football better when he was hot. When he got cold, it would take him a series or two to kind of defrost and warm up again. And I think that that's what Lamar, really the only thing he has to improve on from here on out, is that emotional regulation within a game when things aren't going his way. The conditions were terrible, right? It was hard to control the ball. You could see that was bothering both him and Josh a little bit.

And yes, I think you see too many cold streaks here. Now, most of the stuff is fiery hot. But when you do see the cold streaks, they last a little bit too long. So it's easy for me to say, Hey, get over something. And I think I've said this with Aaron. Aaron can ghost you a little bit. Like if, you know, somebody fumbles, somebody disappoints him.

He gets disappointed very fast and he'll just move on. And I don't love that quality. I think you sort of have, especially with young receivers from Nevada and FCS programs, I said this before the season. Aaron's going to have to change a little bit. You can't throw to your buddies. Like you're going to have to develop these guys quick because Minnesota is better. Detroit's better.

you know, the teams and the NFC. So I do believe they become a little bit of a one-dimensional team where they have to win like Tennessee. Control the clock, run the ball. They're not coming back 21 down, which is so weird with Aaron Rogers. But I am sensing that a little bit, that the struggle with the young guys,

I'm seeing it every week. Or am I being a little hypercritical? Well, I think you're being hypercritical, maybe just that they can't be great with that formula. I don't think you're wrong, that that's the formula they're morphing into. And I don't think you're wrong that Aaron will move on quickly. I don't know if that's a bad thing.

I think sometimes you might be interpreted, people might interpret that as being a bad thing. It's not a bad thing. Like, there's been tons of Super Bowls won by playing great defense, having a ball control offense, and then putting on the Superman cape as a quarterback a little less often. I think the thing we forget is that when Aaron does need to be the old Aaron Rogers, when he does need to be aggressive and he doesn't have the choice to move on for guys,

he still is a generational type player. He still is a guy that can put the team on his back. He hasn't decreased at all. All that's happened is that people around him, as you've made very clear, aren't necessarily on the same page as him, don't have the same level of expertise that he has. So I like what Lafleur is doing. I like that their volume and carries is going up. I like that they're more ball-controlled offense.

I like that when they strike, they're striking with chunk plays and not just that quick passing game perimeter stuff. They did take the shot to the rookie. Yes, he drops it, should out on the ball, but they take the shot. They're trying to be aggressive in the passing game once they've established kind of that old school, knock you back ball control offense. I actually think it's a really good formula in modern day football. I think you're going to see more teams doing this as the year goes on. I'm sure we're going to talk about the Chiefs a little bit. Because what's happening is players are getting more athletic, faster, more nickel-dying packages, more hybrid packages on defense.

What defenses have forgotten is they still have to stop the run first. And when you can run the ball dynamically, force these smaller hybrid players inside and now explode with your passing game, I actually think it's a more impactful way of playing offensive football than just sprayed you out and cutting you up by 1,000 necks. Yeah, I said that the Chiefs are a little warriors, is that they're fun, they're daring, they take big chances, sometimes they get a little cute. But that's okay. You know, they're going to take big swings. I did think watching that game last night, I'm like, would not be surprised at all if I see them play in February. I've saw it.

I absolutely could see it. The NFC, to me, outside of Philly, I don't like anybody right now. What did you make of the matchup? No, I totally agree. Watching the Chiefs, I think they have more ways of beating you right now. I think that's the easiest way of saying it. They have a great home field advantage. They show last night they can travel and play as well on the road as anybody.

They have one of generational talents to quarterback. They have the best tight end in football. I put him in Kittle, neck and neck when Kittles healthy. They still have really good receivers. Yes, you lose Cheetah, but you still have really good perimeter players. They got a lot of them. They're versatile. We forget that they have multiple tight ends within their offense.

used a ton of them last night, but now they have the ability to play with multiple tight ends. They have two really good runners. They like the young kid. They showcase last night, but they have ways of running the football. I think they had, I don't have a box for them from me, but 30-something carries last night, 150 plus yards rushing so they can pound a little bit. They're super creative. And then nobody's going to come up with more conversion-type plays than Andy Reed and staff. And nobody's going to execute them better than Mahom. So, yeah, I think the chiefs are a front-runner. They're going to, going to be very hard to be. And by the way, I wasn't down on Tampa. That was not a game.

I walked away going, oh, the bucks aren't there. The bucks are going to be just fine. They got to find their way a little bit. I thought Chris Collins were did a great job last night, kind of framing for us what Tom has not gotten to work with this year, right? The inconsistencies that he's had to deal with. That's going to balance itself out. They're going to have another come to Jesus meeting midway through the season. Tom's going to exercise his moral authority in that locker room once again. they'll write that ship. Yeah.

Hey, I want to throw this at you. If you coach Denver's offense, because I think even I can see, they don't have an identity. And I always look for that from a coach. If I put silhouettes on the Rams offense, I'd go, that's McVe's offense. That is McVeigh's offense. And with them right now, I don't know what they are. What would you do as a quarterback as a coach? You look at their personnel, they've got deep threats.

They've got, I mean, what would you do to them? fix it. Spice it up. I think a couple things to simplify that. Number one, Russell Wilson is one of the best deep-ball throwers in the history of football. So find more ways by spicing up with creative play action, half-roll movements, full-pocket movements, throwbacks, all these different things to extend the time for him in the pocket. It's not hard to do, guys. There's, I mean, we're in high school and we have eight ways of doing it. So, you know, you can find eight to 12 ways of extending time in the pocket to push. You your vertical passing game. They have the weapons to get downfield. They have twitchy fast guys

that can play the ball in the air and then one of the best deep ball throwers in the league and Russell Wilson. You've got to do that. I think they need a lot more formation, shifts, movements, more bells and whistles to run their base plays. They got some nice base plays. They got a nice structure offensively. That defense is just playing downhill on it. You got to get them retreating a little bit. You get them retreating by all the bells and whistles. It's the stuff that you always talk about every week. You like this because it's cute. It's creative. That stuff works. What it does

is it creates thought, makes your defense think and makes them back up a little bit and makes them take it all in and say, okay, where's the why? Who's the shifts? It's three by one, two by two. Why is there an offset back? Depth of the back. Why is there a pair? What's the split of the receivers? You make them think a lot and then you just run

your base stuff at them. So run your base up at them with more bells and whistles and then find eight to 12 opportunities within the game to extend the pocket, extend the time in the pocket and let Russell push the ball down the field. Tonight, Rams Niners, I worry about the Niners. Trent Williams out. You probably have to keep George Kittle into pass block more.

That limits the effectiveness. My feeling is this will be a Rams night. What do you expect to see tonight? I'm concerned as well, but Kyle's done an incredible job over time against the Rams meal to run the football. He's going to find a way to run the football. He's going to find a way to play action, pass. He's going to find a way to, I wouldn't say take Aaron Donald out of the game, but at least neutralize him to a certain degree. It's really going to come down to conversion downs.

Every game like that, you scheme it up on paper. You have a great plan. You're effective on first and second down. But opening is going to come down to these conversion downs and these finishing downs. So the third and three to fives in the middle of the field, can Jimmy G executed at a high level? And when they get in the ball in the red zone, can they score touchdowns instead of field goals? Steve Young used to say it all the time. The more field goals you kick, the closer you are losing.

So I think that's really a model for the Niners this year, as they can run the ball, play action. It's really what can you do in these must-pass situations in the middle of field? And can you finish drives in the red zone? Okay. Beyond the X's and O's, a podcast with Trent Dilfer, Lipscomb Academy head coach in Nashville. Did you win this week? We did. We played our best football. We were at 51-0-5 and got to play a lot of guys that have worked hard to get

the game in the second half. You know what, McIntyre, you could have played this weekend. They had emptied the bench weekend. You could have, you know, you're probably a little, let's let's let you're a tailback, probably a backup tailback. Am I right? No, I'm a starting wide receiver. I could play in the slot anywhere, Colin. I can shake people off the line. Okay, my bad. You know, listen to me. I would have said, I would have said, I would have said undersized knuckleback, but. Well, good call. I can deliver some hits. Yeah. He's very defensive. He's very defensive. All right, good seeing you, man. Trent and Delfare. Good stuff. Thanks, ma'am. You played high school football too?

No, my parents would never let me play football growing up. I was undersized. I was a small, fast guy. Soccer was my school. You've got a little bit of an Austin Echler thing going, though. You'd be quick. I'm shifty, yeah. Yeah, I've been on the tennis court. You could be, you're a little Austin Echler. Remember when I clobbered you in tennis that one time? I don't remember. I had a bad ham. Who remembers stuff from two years ago? Yeah.

Rams are getting a little healthier. Does the Cooper Rush train come off the tracks in this one? Yeah, I think he's fine. I feel like decks better. If I can't see a massive gap between your starter and your backup, a massive gap. I think there's a huge gap between Garoppolo and Brock Purdy.

You can bang on Garoppolo all you want. I think there's a gap. I don't see a huge. Dax better than Cooper Rush. But one guy makes a nickel, one guy makes 40 million. Like, to me, Dax's a better athlete, plays with a little more confidence.

But I saw Cooper Rush make two great throws yesterday with average protection. Should we consider the opponent? Cooper Rush has now faced a mediocre Bengals defense, a mediocre at best Giants defense, and a really bad Washington Commander's defense. Yeah, and that's where Dax wins are the last three years. It goes over

the Giants, over the Eagles, and over Washington. That's who Dax beating. Yeah, Dax's not beating good teams. That's what I said. So Cooper's doing, I don't think Cooper could beat. Cooper's not going to go to Lambo or he's not going to go to Arrowhead. He's not going to go to Buffalo and win. Well, Dax's not.

So I do think Dax better. And I think a lot of this quarterback stuff, you know, it's too tied to the salary. I mean, you're paying Dack what you're paying him. You're paying Cooper. But like Bridgewater and Tua, I think Tua is better, but not like one makes $40 million, one makes league minimum better. You love Vegas. So Tua was going to be a six-point favorite.

against the Jets. Now with Bridgewater, it's three. The DAC line earlier in the season when he left, it was like a seven or eight point swing, like much more significant. So Vegas respects DAC way more. It was more disrespect for Cooper Rush. You hadn't seen him.

Now that he's won these games, Dak and Cooper, the difference to me is a field goal. Like Josh Allen and his backup, the difference would be 12 points. Aaron Rogers a few years ago in his Aaron Rogers and Jordan Love, I think it's 11. So, I mean, that's what you actually.

Lamar Jackson and his backup is going to be a touchdown or more. Yes, I think Tua should be. Two it to me is like a two and a half point advantage over Bridgewater. That's a very, you'd like more. Yeah, Mac Jones and Brian Hoyer was not a significant, marginal at best. I think if Mack Jones plays yesterday, they win, but Brian Hoyer when he was in, I think he led. So it was, or it was close. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd-mind news. The last unbeaten team in the league, Philadelphia Eagles, Colin. Mild surprised. We've talked about them all throughout August. The schedule is favorable. This team, they're going to beat some people.

Now, Doug Peterson's returned to Philly. Jags led 14-0. And you saw, how's Philadelphia going to adjust to adversity? They score 30 straight points or 29 or whatever it was. Miles Sanders, as Michael Vicks said, had a monster day. Jalen Hertz had a good game. I do want to point out, though, the Jaggs kind of shot themselves on the foot, Colin. I watch this game closely.

The Jax had five fumbles in the rain. Eagles had none. Trevor Lawrence could not hold on to the football. He never played in the rain. He didn't play a lot in the rain at Clemson. So, yeah, I mean, listen, Philadelphia's offensive line and defensive line combination. There's an argument that's the best in the league. I mean, Lane Johnson, you're not getting the Jalen Hertz.

That old line for Philadelphia is as good. Some of those holes, and the Jags front seven's good. Some of those holes they're running through, that's the best offensive line in the NFL. We'll ask CoSell Thursday. I think this is the best online in football. It is hard not to make the playoffs when your quarterback has a running game and protection. It is hard. How do you defend this team? If you play the two high safeties, they'll run all over you. If you try to blitz, A.J. Brown and Devonte Smith can beat you deep. This is a dangerous team. You try to make Jalen Hertz play from behind good luck because they control the ball. So he's had

some spotty second halves, but there's no way you can watch this. team and their line play and not buy if you bought into Tennessee the last several years that was kind of a line play story is you know run the ball with henry good pass rush i think they're for real they got Arizona this week i believe on the road uh i think they'll try that offense will travel because it can just chew up yards and eat the clock so so we're now saying eagles they're laying a touchdown on the road that's a lot of points well what would we do with buffalo are they that much worse than buffalo or kansas city they'd lay a touchdown on the road too I think we'll talk about this game later in the week.

Next up, oh gosh, do we have to talk about the other New York team, the Giants? The Giants. Listen, Brian Daibald got another win. I mean, he had no quarterback. They were running the Wildcat in the football. Wasn't that great? It was comical. They beat the Bears 20 to 12.

I'm an idiot who picked the Bears. Sequin Barclay has looked really good. He has. He's been terrific. I don't know if this guy's going to get paid or what, but he's been healthy and it's fun to watch him. Be the guy he was at Penn State. Sure. You're enjoying him.

Now, Danny Dimes, injured ankle. Okay. Tyrod Taylor comes in concussion. Daniel Jones could not even play quarterback in the fourth quarter because he was so hurt. They had him like out as a wide receiver decoy because they were so light on bodies. Colin, they play, I think, the Packers this week. Aaron Rogers could be going up against a third string quarterback. Again. Again.

You're going to have to put the Packers in the top 10. Well, why? That would be like saying in a college football conference, if you go 9 and 0 in the Mountain West, I got to put you in the top five. Who are you beating? It's like if I'm asked to vote, like in college football, we don't have a poll. In college football, we do it, NFL we don't. So I do a poll on Tuesdays. Why do I have to because you're beating lousy beat-up teams put you in?

I don't think, I think Jacksonville today would beat Green Bay in a neutral field. They're getting in. Even though they lost. I think they lost pridefully. They lost in lousy weather. I think Jacksonville's a really solid team. Okay, specifically to the NFC East. Eagles 4-0, Cowboys 3 and 1.

with a backup, Giants 3-1. Well, that was my... This is the order of my prediction, and that's where I feel that's... Are you surprised by the records? I mean, they're better than a lot of the teams, record-wise. It's early, but record-wise, this seems like a surprise. No. Oh.

I think the Eagles are better than I thought. I think the Cowboys are solid. Well, when Dak went down, didn't we come out and say they're toast? Well, it felt like it, but, you know, what do we know about backup quarterbacks? Fair. Yeah. All right, final story, Colin. according to the athletic, the NBA says the Lakers almost traded Russell Westbrook

and two first round picks to the Pacers for Miles Turner and Buddy Heald before training camp. Now, we've talked about this on the show. Ultimately, they did not pull the trigger because the team's decision makers, and I read this article, it's a little silly. The decision makers are not just Polinka GD Bus. There's a couple other outside forces, shall we say, in this decision. And they were like, no, we're not going to do it. Let's run it back with LeBron A.D.

in Westbrook, and Anthony Davis gave some insight into their new offensive approach this season. I think the best thing was everybody trying to be selfless and now everybody's going to be aggressive. Russ, you get it, go. Bron, you get it, go. I get it and go. Whoever. And that's been very helpful for all of us. Anthony Davis apparently living in a dream world. Well, let's be optimistic. I believe Rob Polenka said, I read this this morning, that he just wants to be patient and give this time to jail. My belief of the trading deadline, he will not feel that. It is interesting.

From the article I read, it did appear that he was willing to, the Pacers were willing to make the deal for Westbrook for Buddy Heald and Miles Turner, which, by the way, the Lakers need a shooter and another big, so I would make that deal. I don't care about... And they were willing to give up the picks

too. No, yeah. It's like, who's holding this up? And that's when it gets a little dicey for the Lakers. Like, why aren't you doing this? First of all, Anthony Davis has not going to play 82 games. So what you need is a competent backup. Well, Miles Turner is about a 13 point a game, competent front

front court piece. And Buddy Heald is a very nice shooter. Like, I don't get what Rob Polenka's waiting for. Who gives a rip about draft picks in 2027? It's L.A. I mean, is Jeannie Bust to blame here? What's the hold up here? I mean, it was who planted this story? You know we

love to play this game. But it looked like the Lakers wanted to do the deal, but somebody didn't, and they put it out there, to kind of flush out who stopped this deal from happening. If tomorrow, Buddy Heald and Miles Turner go to the Lakers, Westbrook and the picks gone, that's absolutely a playoff team. But here's the thing. What if the Pacers say, our price has gone up?

Now you've got to toss in something else. Lakers whiffed it. This is a wasted opportunity, Colin. I think, I'm not saying you're wrong. It makes so much. LeBron always gets guys on the perimeter good looks. Buddy Heald would get the best looks of his career. Buddy's a terrific shooter.

Terrific shooter. So you know if you play with LeBron and you hit three, like Patrick Beverly will get more good, clean three-point looks than he has in his whole career. That's what LeBron gets you. Everywhere he played. Badiye got his best looks. Ray Allen got great looks. Mike Miller got great looks.

Kyrie got great looks. That's what LeBron does. Drives, draws attention. He's a brilliant passer. And remember, they have in the offseason added Patrick Beverly, right? They got Kendrick Nunn coming back and Dennis Schroeder. It was as if they did this deal, though, Colin. knowing Westbrook's gone, we don't need four point cards.

So rarely do you get sort of a generational surging all-time talent, Mahomes, against the goat in his last year. We got a little bit of old MJ, young Kobe, little bit. We got a little bit of magic at the end, Michael surging as the next great player, the passing of the torch. last night we got it.

The goat against arguably the next goat, and they both leaned into what they were. Mahomes was flashier than ever, daring, showing off, creative, lots of flair. That's absolutely who he is. And Brady, at one point, I mean, they threw like 25 straight times or something, the announcer said. Brady was efficient, smart, accurate, great in the red zone. You know, Brady is so unique because rarely do we get an athlete that plays for this long at this level. He got smoked early in the game. It had no negative effects.

He got right back up. I mean, I'm looking at their box scores. Brady had 115 passer rating. Mahomes had a 98. Brady threw it 52 times. It would have been great to have Gretzky and Howe be on the ice at the same time, or Montana and Favreve or Russell and Kareem. You just don't get it very often.

And yet here we have six games. They've both won three. They've split it right down the middle. and you start looking at their matchups head-to-head. You can see what you get. You get more touchdowns with Mahomes, more passing yards a game. You get more, the higher completion percentage with Brady. Tom still throws as good a ball as I think he did eight years ago.

He doesn't throw a Josh Allen ball, but he never did. And here's both after. Yeah, I like Patrick a lot. Had a chance to be around him a little bit, and obviously I think he's a great player. He's doing a great job for that team, and he's got a great career ahead of him. So I'm always here to help anybody that I can, you know, anyone who is looking for advice, and I've certainly seen a lot in the game, and I'm always happy to pass on information to others

to hopefully see those guys maximize their potential. Like I've been very fortunate to maximize mine. I've had a lot of mentors in my life that played a very important role and helping me be the best I could be, too. So the least I could do is give it back. I really love watching Patrick play. And it does a great job for that team. And unfortunately, we're on the wrong end of it tonight.

I see him in the all season a lot now. I just like good luck on the rest of the year. I feel like I said this earlier in the week. I think in some interview where I was like, I feel like I've had the last game against Tom Brady like four times now. So until he is not on that field when I step on the field, I'm not going to believe this is my last game against him. So Buffalo and the Ravens played,

those are two very, very high-end AFC teams. I think they both have one big concern. Buffalo, we're six years in with this head coach. They cannot consistently run the ball. So Josh Allen, once again, takes too many hits for me. Baltimore has gotten into a little bit of a bad habit, 36 passing yards in the second half.

So Baltimore is really well coached, plays with a lot of emotion. Very good coaches tend to take leads in football games. They have a good game plan. They know what they are. They know what they're not. They lean into it. They take a lead. There's always about a third of this league that's very well coached.

Half is okay and half is poorly coached. So Baltimore is a very well coach team. They scheme well. They game plan well. They take a lead all the time. And that's why Sean McVeigh, 45 and one leading at half. McVeigh is a really good coach. Good coaches take leads.

Bill Walsh had a lot of leads. Jimmy Johnson had a lot of leads. Chuck Knoll had a lot of leads. But Lamar is into a space now, and I think he's really, really emotional. And you can see it. When he has a bad play, a bad series, a bad interception, he goes into kind of a dark place and gets very emotional, doubts himself, that he tries too hard, tries to extend plays too much. And I was looking at Baltimore's drive results against the bills.

It's a prime example. They start fast. Touchdown, touchdown, field goal, field goal, punt, punt, punt. interception, interception. It's almost like he comes down emotionally. It's like a sugar high and he comes off it and crashes. I think it's all correctable. But I think one of the great, I know this sounds weird, but you've got to get over mistakes really quickly. I think it's harder when you're younger, because I think younger people are more emotional and have less life experience. Joe Burrow is very rare. Andrew Luck is very rare. They get over their mistakes in 30 seconds. I've talked to Burrow about

this. Stafford, Brady. Brady's thrown pick sixes in Super Bowls. A real skill is not being emotional in crisis. I remember years and years ago, I forget the network, could have been CBS, could have been Fox. They were talking, somebody put a heart monitor on NASCAR drivers as they were going on these big sweeping turns and as they were getting in congestion. And the greatest drivers, their heart rate didn't change at all as they were up on the turn, as they were getting banked in, even when they were bumping cars. And I was like, that's a great racer. Is that can you emotionally stay in control, be composed when you throw a terrible pass?

Aaron had one yesterday. Pick six has happened. Brady's had him in Super Bowls. And I think sometimes I see it with Lamar. He really gets down on himself really quick. And again, go look at the Ravens drive results. It's a classic example. TD, TD, field goal, field goal.

Then punt, punt, punt, punt, pick, pick. He's trying too hard. The good news is it's correctable, it's solvable. I think he does everything else well. It's a little bit of a whole – I contend – Buffalo finally won a close game. Buffalo has got to develop a run game beyond Josh Allen. A prime example of this is Nick Seriani with Philadelphia, an offensive coach. They have quickly developed a very good run game.

Sean McVey, Kyle Shanahan. These guys develop the offensive coaches in this league much more quickly. By the way, Pittsburgh, defensive coach, no run game. Ron Rivera, they're struggling to run the football. So it's something there. Baltimore is really fun. If I asked you today, J. Mack, the best college team is what? Georgia Bulldogs.

Okay, I'm Bama, Georgia three. The best NFL team. I'm going to go Kansas City. Buffalo Eagles in that order right now. So you are a doubter of Philadelphia. I'm not a doubter at all. I've been on board with the Eagles all the time. Okay, so a prime example. I like the best in the NFC right now.

They go to Arizona last week. It's minus seven. Who would you take? I'm going to go ahead and hold off on that one. It's on the Monday. I got to see the injuries. By the way, the Eagles did lose two offensive linemen during the game to injury. Not season ending.

No clarity. Nothing significant, we don't think. But we saw like the Detroit Lions lost half their offensive line. You know, these teams lose offensive linemen. It's big. Keep an eye on that. Detroit might as well be a big 12 team. They can't stop anybody.

Everything's a shootout. The most entertaining average team in the league the last two years. Detroit lines. Their games are fantastic. They're all in the same way. It's Big 12 football. All right. Jimmy Johnson, the legendary Hall of Fame coach, final hour, hour three on a Monday.
