It is a Monday live in Los Angeles. It's the herd. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening. IHeart Radio, Fox Sports Radio, FS1. So much fun this weekend. College basketball is an interesting sport. It's, you know, a lot of one and dunners. So it's not, you know, NBA, we know who plays on teams. You don't even have to like the NBA. And you'd know who Jason Tatum is or Steph Curry or Luca Dantage or Janice or. but in college basketball, unless it's your team, it's hard to name a starting five. There's so much turnover in the sport. And then you get this past weekend, and it just sucks you in every year. There's so much emotion.

You know, I was talking to Darry, Joy Taylor joining me, the GM for the Sixers. Yes. And he's a believer that the first round of the playoffs should be won and done for the NBA. He's like, you would have to watch the games. He says, go look at March Madness. We know the quality of college basketball is poor, right? Like 99% of the sport could never play professional basketball, even overseas, right? But you'll watch it because there's so much tension.

I mean, I'm watching Duke Michigan State. I'm a ball of nerves in the NBA playoffs. Seven game first round series. Well, yeah. I mean, the seven game first round series is too much. Even if it was a five game first round series, it would make it more intense. March Madness shows quality is not always the most. important thing.

Urgency is. Can you create a feeling for me as a spectator? Oh my God, the season's going to end. I'm watching Arizona, and I'm like, I didn't go to these schools. And I'm like, I can't even imagine being a fan of TCU in Arizona. I was just the pressure on. Oh, it's incredible. Sports, fewer games.

Baseball. Shrink it. Shrink the games. Fewer games. Fewer bowls. It's like it just creates. March managed. There's 360 teams.

We don't know the name of the starters. we know the coach is better than the players. It's very much the brands. No question. But you turn it on on the weekend, and I am sitting there watching Duke, Michigan State, and I'm thinking, is this Shoshchewski's last game?

I'm like, oh, my God. And it was just so much fun. It was such a great weekend. So we do it every Monday. It's called Where Colin was right. Where Colin was wrong. Plenty of both. Here we go.

Where Colin was right? Well, the Cleveland situation ended like I always thought it would. Tumult and Turmalt and Turrull. turbulence. Chris Mortensen reported the Browns decided weeks ago they wanted an adult at quarterback. And from day one, this was always my issue. Baker is a franchise quarterback, but part of that is maturity and he just lacks it. Even in the last week when he said, trade me to the Colts, bro, it doesn't work that way. It's not the transfer portal. Baker's got talent. Baker's biggest enemy has overwhelmingly been Baker Mayfield, as we predicted.

Where Colin was wrong. I thought for sure Deshaun Watson would choose Atlanta. Number one, it's his hometown. Number two, it's the Hollywood of the South. And as he was rehabbing his image, I thought, this would be a great place to do it. Your friends, your family, and he chose Cleveland, which would have been last place for me.

I thought maybe Carolina, he played in the ACC, see. But according to reports, he looked at that Brown's offensive line in that run game and considering what he dealt with in Houston, that was really attractive to him. Of course, they also were willing to pay him a lot of money. But I will say this, in terms of personnel, this is a better roster than Atlanta and a way better roster than Carolina. So for that, I think he did make the right move. Where Colin was right? I'll let's say this. Aaron Rogers may like to pretend and portrays got buddies, but Devonthe Adams leaves him at the altar,

goes to less of a franchise in Vegas, and never thanks him in his IG post. Thanks the city, thanks the fans, thanks to the organizations, gives a broad, like to thank my teammates. Really? This goes back to the Aaron Rogers thing. Aaron Rogers wanted to be the highest paid quarterback. And now he is.

But that put a lot of pressure on Green Bay to get that contract right. That's why they often considered franchise tagging him because the Aaron thing gets more punitive in year two and in year three. But in the end, another Aaron Rogers teammate, when given an option, bails on him. Where Colin was wrong. Vaughn Miller, to the bill, surprised me. I thought he would go to Dallas because I thought Dallas would over. pay for him off the Randy Gregory free agent loss. The second thing, he's 33, he's had some injuries.

I like him. But that contract is silly. That was a shocker. Now, I will say, Joy and I talked about this last week, Buffalo is in a spot now. They're like the Rams. They're going to be in a Super Bowl conversation every year with four or five teams, and Buffalo just said, hey, we're going to go for it. The bottom line is Buffalo feels like with our quarterback and our offense,

we're going to be leading most of our games late. we need a pass rusher. That's why the Rams went and got him. We're going to be leading these playoff games. We need a pass rusher to get Brady or Aaron Rogers. But I would say this. I thought it was a 75% lock. Von Miller would go to the Cowboys. Now another star player goes to the AFC.

Where Colin was right. Been saying for years the Seahawks are disorganized in a mess and Pete Carroll has too much power. Not only do they lose Russell Wilson, they have no planet quarterback. They have no planet quarterback. None. And if they believe Drew Locke is the answer, then it's time for Pete Carolyn John Snyder to both go. But multiple NFL execs told me they thought they got not nearly enough for Russell Wilson.

And they'd been working on that thing for a month, according to Rick Spielman, who was just on our show. So this has been what I've said about Seattle for three years. Russell Wilson is the life preserver carrying a franchise, which feels outdated, offensively and shaky in the front office. Where Colin was wrong. The Tennessee volunteers were my March Madness Dark Horse, and they got beat by Michigan. Congrats the Michigan great win.

I thought the SEC would have a great, great tournament. Alabama lost, Auburn lost, Kentucky lost, Tennessee lost, and LSU lost, and Arkansas is the only one left. So that bad by me, I thought Tennessee had a chance to win the whole thing. And they just couldn't stop Michigan's big. And the better team won, as painful as that is. Where Colin was right? LeBron James passed Carl Malone on the number two NBA scoring list. Last week, he created his own statistic, the first player ever with 10,000 assists and 10,000 rebounds.

LeBron James, this is not a lost season. We've been saying this now. We've been saying this now for people that think this will ding his legacy. No, it will not. LeBron made a decision at some point, I'm going to go big on scoring this year, and now he has moved up to the second leading score of all time. I will not look at this as a negative year. I will look at this year for LeBron as the year he proved that if he wanted to drop 40 points a game for his entire career, he could have. Because in year 19, it's insane that he may still win the NBA scoring championship. But it's not like he's getting a lot of free points. It's not like Westbrook's a great distributor. Like he's having to do it on his own, ball in his hands, create his

shot. Good for him. Where Colin was right. Nine big 10 teams made March Madness. Yeah. Yeah, most of them are all done. Seven already done. Iowa is the fake ID of college football and apparently basketball. It is a Big Ten tradition. They have not won a title for 22 years, but because the conference is popular, the fans are amazing. They've got good TV contracts. So Big Ten teams are on television on all these networks. The arenas are often packed. Again, big brands that we overvalue the Big Ten every year. Nine teams got in. Seven are kaput. But I will say it warms my heart that Joanne Howard, who had a really bad night this year in college basketball, had a remarkable weekend.

And Michigan is a really good basketball program. We think about their football team, but Michigan basketball, I think they won back in 1989. They won a national championship back then. So the last two national championships from the Big Ten are both Michigan schools. 22 years ago, Michigan State, Sparty won it with Izzo and Matine Cleaves. And then a couple years earlier, two or three years earlier, Michigan won their national Before that, you have to go back to the Bobby Knight Big Ten stuff. All right.

We got a lot of stuff. Keeping our eyes on what we perceive to be a day or a 48-hour period where some stuff's going to shake out. If you told me this morning what would be the best place and the best quarterback per team, I would say if I'm the Colts, I'd take Matt Ryan. An adult can hit the layups, protection run game feels like a potential. playoff team. Garapolo's health issues concern me. Baker's maturity concerns me. Baker wants to go to the Colts. He would be my third choice. One Matt Ryan, two, Garapolo. If I got desperate, I'd go to Baker. What's going to be interesting for Baker, sometimes, you know, the old saying,

joy, grass is not always greener. I think he's going to miss. Not only Nick Chubb, but that Cleveland offensive line, there are not three offensive lines in the NFL as good. as Cleveland's. That's a really, really strong O' line. They were beat up at the end of last year. But if he goes to Seattle, that's a bad O' line. Baker is not the kind of athlete that can overcome running for his life. Like Russell Wilson can.

Kyler Murray can. Mahomes can a little. By and large, that offensive line in Seattle is going to be trouble if Baker goes there. It would be awful for Matt Ryan. So I don't think Seattle would even pursue him. But my guess is Matt Ryan either gets an extension in Atlanta, which is not what they want to do, or he goes to Indy. And then, you know, Atlanta says, we got that off the books. Let's go draft a quarterback. I can see Atlanta going getting Kenny Pickett. Absolutely. Wouldn't surprise me at all. One more herd? The USFL is coming, starting on April 16th, and kicks off with a historical inaugural game. As the New Jersey generals take on the Birmingham Stallions and primetime on Fox and NBC. All right, a lot of stuff moving in the NFL right now. Albert Breer's been covering this stuff for a long time. Monday morning quarterback Jones is live. I got to be honest, I was shocked when Deshaun went to Cleveland.

In retrospect, I look at that offensive line and Nick Chubb, and I think, you know, a poor kid's been running for his life for the last four years in Houston. So I get him going, according to a report this morning, going, I like that old line. I like the sport system. They got a lot of young dudes. How shocked were you? How did it come down? Yeah, I was a little surprised because obviously I think like the rest of us following it Thursday

and Friday, it looked like New Orleans in Atlanta were the two finalists. he looked at New Orleans as a better football situation. Of course, there was a tug of his hometown coming from Atlanta. You know, and my understanding of this is really after going back and forth between New Orleans and Atlanta, he reopened it. And he said, am I prioritizing the wrong things? Am I too worried about my own personal comfort? And then he went back and he looked at why he eliminated Cleveland.

And Colin, this is unbelievable. The reason he eliminated Cleveland was because of the one time he'd been there, which was during the 2020 season. and it was cold, it was windy, it was raining, the game was 10 to 7, he didn't play particularly well, and so he just had this idea of Cleveland in his head based off that one experience. And he went back and looked at, I said, am I putting too much stock in that? And then he looked at the experience he had talking with the owners who knew a lot about the roster, the experience he had with Kevin Sifanski sitting down and talking to him

and going through the X&Os and how that Shanahan style of offense would work for him. and then talking with Andrew Barry about the roster, and he looked at all that, and then looked at how many young ascending players there are in that group, maybe the best line he'll ever play. He's ever played behind. A good group of tight ends, a good group of running backs,

Amari Cooper, and a defense that's got Denzel Ward and Miles Garrett to build around, and really the decision came down to, where's the best place to go win Super Bowls and compete right now? And after, again, that soul-searching Thursday and Friday led him to Cleveland, the teams were able to get the deal done.

And obviously, his agent and the Browns were able to get the contract done too. So years ago, Nick Saban, New York Times, admitted that he had to pivot. He said, listen, my defenses cannot stop these offenses. And as good as Bill Belichick is, he can't stop Josh Allen. He needed a Nor'easter. He can't stop him. So as good as Belichick is, couldn't win a playoff game. As good as Aaron Rogers is, he didn't trust a second receiver.

Couldn't win a playoff game. So the best quarterback in the eyes of many, and the best coach could not want a playoff game because the world's changing. You need ammo. The rules have changed. The Rams, the Bucks, the chiefs, the bills. You can see these teams, Cincinnati. The world's change.

You cannot go in unarmed on this stuff. So Devante Adams leaves Green Bay. I talked to an executive this weekend, who I trust. He's like, they don't have a one or a two. And he goes, a lot of their threes would be fours on other rosters. Albert, how do you, what do you do now? Cross your fingers in the draft? I mean, yeah, I think that they're going to explore everything.

You know, I mean, even if you go and get like an O'Dell Beckham, right, and you give Aaron Rogers an O'Dell Beckham, when are you going to have him? You know, like you're going to have him maybe in October or November. You know, I think they kick tires on Robert Woods, but he's another one that's coming off of an ACL. You know, and so that's a very real question now. The offensive line's really good. They bring Robert Tunyon back. I think they're going to continue to make an effort to get Valdeus Scantling back.

You know, and obviously they've got a couple of good back. and AJ Dylan and Aaron Jones, I think you have to rely on your ability to identify the right one in the draft and probably focus on the guys who are going to be ready to play right away. And there are a couple of them. A guy like Chris Olive from Ohio State

would make some sense from them because he's played in a lot of big-time environments and he's a very, I think, finished product as a college receiver. But yeah, I mean, I think it's fair to ask that question now. The hope is, I know amongst some of the coaches that, you know, you take DeVante Adams out of the equation and maybe that'll get Aaron Rogers to play point guard a little bit more, open up the field where he's using

every guy out there rather than just relying on one of them. But there's no question when you talk about like losing the actual singular talent of Devante Adams, they're going to have to do something over the next month and a half to replace. By the way, the Raiders go out, spent a lot of money on Chandler Jones and Devante Adams. And it almost feels like, hey, it's the price of doing business in that division. You know, the Raiders, are not always current, a word I would use. But if you look at what's changing in football, I look at their skill people right now, and I'm like,

oh, that's good. Oh, yeah. I mean, left tackle, back, slot, receiver. I don't know. I kind of look at the Raiders differently this morning. You? Yeah, I mean, Adams, Renfro, Waller, Josh Jacobs is a good back.

Like you said, the offensive lines in good shape. You know, the way I look at the way that the Raiders have handled last week and having talked to people there, This is the new general manager, Dave Ziegler, and the new head coach Josh McDaniels, basically affirming that they don't think this thing is broken. They believe in Derek Carr. One of the first calls that Josh made after he got that job was to Derek Carr. And they think that the roster that was left behind there by Mike Mayock and John Gruden

and Rich Passachia is close. And so this is them doubling down on their quarterback and doubling down on the roster that's there for them. And you know what's really fascinating about it, Colin, is, you know, We've seen a lot of these New England guys go other places and sort of try to replicate what they were around with the Patriots. And Josh really tried to do that in the first time around in Denver. He's not doing that this time.

You know, he sees a quarterback there. I like that quarterback. That quarterback's good enough. I'm going to work with that quarterback. And then what does he do? His first, you know, his first swinging free agency and with trades. He signs Chandler Jones, a top of the market pass rusher. And he trades for Devante Adams and gives him an enormous contract.

So, you know, I think what you're seeing here is that Josh is going to take the lessons that he had from New England, but he's not going to be chained down by everything that the Patriots did. He's not duplicating what he did in New England for all those years and he saw Bill do for all those years. And he's not going to duplicate the mistakes that he made in Denver. He is banking now on bringing high-end talent to Vegas. It's going to be fascinating to see how that plays out. You know, it's really interesting. And we've seen this is that the minute Denver got Russell Wilson, Randy Gregory, is like,

okay, I'll go play for them. And Buffalo has never been considered a free agent destination. Boy, when they go after a guy the last couple years, Albert, they land a lot of these guys. You can't tell me Josh Allen didn't help get Von Miller, right? Here's what's interesting. You know how the Von Miller thing happened? How? It wasn't the bills contacting Von Miller.

It was Von Miller contacting the bills. There were multiple high-end free agents and not just guys on offense that reached. out to the bills wanting to be a part of what they're building. And I can just tell you, talking to people in that organization, you know, the GM, Brandon Bean said this to me the other day. The reason why isn't because of the program they built. It isn't because people are impressed with Sean McDermott. It's because of Josh Allen. And now that advantage the Patriots had for all of those years in the AFC East, the bills have it. Right. For one reason or another, Colin, and like I can tell you, like it seems like it's on a different level than with some other teams.

people guys in the NFL are attracted to playing with Josh Allen you heard the way Vaughn Miller talked about him the other day this was a Von Miller production getting to Buffalo and there are other guys that are there on one-year contracts guys like OJ Howard that believe playing with Josh Allen is going to enhance their future and so you know we talk a lot about like the difference between what the public thinks and what people inside the NFL think and what players think I think what we've seen over the last year or so is a very strong message from players that they believe that Josh Allen is going to be a top two or three quarterback in the NFL, not top 10, top two or three quarterback in the NFL for the foreseeable

future. So I'm going to throw this out. There's a lot of talk about Matt Ryan. I'm going to tell you my gut instinct, Chris Ballard, people are banging on him because he's not spending money. And I think what he's saying is, I'm going to go after Matt Ryan, who's expensive. That's my gut feeling is because Jonathan Taylor's free right now, Michael Pittman's free. They got a good young corner that doesn't cost a lot. They pay Bruckner, but my take, all, everybody in Indy's freaking, and I think he looks at anything. He thinks, listen, we had Carson Wentz, talented, but I couldn't trust him. Matt Ryan may be a declining player, and he's expensive, but I could trust him. I think the Colts are going to get Matt Ryan. That's my gut. You have more insight. What do you

think? Yeah, well, today is a key day because at 4 o'clock, that's $7.5 million roster bonus will be earned if the Thalcas don't want to be responsible for it. They got to move. him before 4 p.m. today. So we're in a critical period right now if they're going to move Matt Ryan. I don't think the Falcons are married to the idea of moving Matt Ryan. But to me, this really is about Chris Bauer being a little bit more patient than he's been the last couple of years. And if you look, the way, you know, they've sort of attacked this after losing Andrew Luck in 2019, they gave Jacoby Brissette a big extension. They aggressively pursued Philip Rivers. They aggressively pursued Carson Wentz. Like these things were done early in the offseason. This

year when they made the decision to move off of Carson Wentz, I think part of it was let's be patient, let's sit back, and let's see what shakes free. And I think now that's paying off because of the Deshawn Watson situation, the Falcons have started to more seriously consider the idea of moving off of Matt Ryan. And that's opened up an opportunity for the Colts. So I think this is about Chris Ballard being a little bit more patient than he's been the last three years since losing Andrew Luck, and I'm with you, I think Matt Ryan would be a perfect fit for their program. The problem with Carson Wentz, and he wasn't great as a player, but it wasn't so much who he was as a player. It was how he was a person and how he fit their program and what they built over the

last five years. Matt Ryan's perfect for what they've built. And so the idea that maybe he could unlock Jonathan Taylor and Michael Pittman and all the infrastructure they've built on offense and then fit in with the defensive leaders they've had, I think Matt Ryan's a really, really good fit. And he would make sense as a guy to sort of bridge them for the next three or four years and buy them time to find their quarterback of the future. Yep. I think we're going to see it today. Albert Breyer, Monday morning quarterback. Great seeing you, bud. All right. Thanks, Colin. Yeah. Listen, there's some teams that have gotten better and there's some teams that have gotten worse. Indianapolis is in the middle. Like, you're not quite sure where they are today. And my takeaway

is that they get Matt Ryan. With Matt Ryan, you know what you get. And if Matt Ryan is protected, you really know what you're going to get. You're going to get a really solid quarterback, not a lot of mistakes, run-oriented, big grown-up, great pre-snap, get you in and out of trouble. Again, declining player age, not terribly mobile. But again, this is a different situation. With that online and that running game, the Colts with Matt Ryan, that's a perfect team. That's a great place for an old quarterback to go. Good online, good running game. Like San Francisco, Brady was interested in the Niners. It's a perfect place to go. It's a perfect play.

Don't forget. When Brady went to Tampa, what did he want? A better O line, gronk blocking, and Leonard Fernette. Like Brady knew. I don't want to throw 48 times. The Colts are a, by the way, Philip Rivers got to the playoffs two years ago with Indy. The Colts are built for an old quarterback that doesn't move a ton.

Get them to the line, in and out of trouble, distribute the ball. Now, they also need to get another. receiver in the draft, but they're not, the Colts aren't paying many people. They're really not. They've got the space to pay Matt Ryan for two years and he'll just bring the temperature down with the Carson Wentz mess. Joy with the news. No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news. Well, Jay Glazer did just tweet. The Colts are trying to work out of trade right now with Atlanta for quarterback Matt Ryan

at NFL on Fox. Not completed yet, but they are trying to finalize it. So Jay Glazer's reporting Colts and Matt Ryan, they're working on it. They're working on a trade, yes. Now, Baker Mayfield has said he wants to be traded to the Colts. Mary Kay Cabot said the Browns may have to

pay some of his salary in order to facilitate a trade to Inde, given that the Colts know he wants to play for them. And some think that the Seahawks might make a play for Baker as well. Fox Beck currently gives the Seahawks the second best odds to have Baker next season at plus 250. The Colts are plus 175, Seahawks plus 250, Panthers plus 400, and Saints plus 750. Now,

the Seahawks, to your point, had the 25th ranked offensive line last season, according to Pro Football Focus. They also allowed 46 sacks last season. So they are not strong in that department, and Baker Mayfield has mostly played for a good offensive line and had a run game. Yeah, so I bet you the Colts and Matt Ryan are close to a deal. I bet here's what they're hung up on years. Because you're willing, because remember, if you get Matt Ryan and you're the Colts next year, not this draft, but next draft, you probably draft a quarterback. Right.

Right. You don't want to be caught in this situation again. So you're okay with Matt for two. The question is Matt's going to want a third year or maybe a fourth year and that's where it gets dicey. Now, the good news is if you did draft a quarterback next year and it's a good quarterback draft out of college, you know, by the trading deadline, you could move Matt if you had an expiring deal. But to me, if I'm the Colts, I would pay for the extra year for Matt Ryan. I would figure that out in two years. Yeah, figure it out later. But next year is a really good college quarterback

draft. And I think even if they like Matt Ryan, the Colts will draft one. And that young quarterback will be cheap. So you, that's exactly right. At that position, you're only going to pay so much. That's exactly right. Even if it is an expensive. contract for Matt Ryan, which you probably still will be able to move. You're not paying your rookie quarterback. That's why Garapolo Lance made sense last year. You weren't paying Tray anything. So Garapolo's, the quarterback position wasn't egregiously paid.

So it's looking like Matt Ryan is going to end up with the Colts. So where does Baker end up? Seattle. And I think it's a terrible fit for him. I think he's going to realize, you know, this is the classic. You don't understand how good you had it. You can make fun of Cleveland. That puppy is, that is a great.

great offensive unit. No, I think, I said this on Friday. I think Baker is a cautionary tale to young quarterbacks who are coming into the league that the standard for how you have to conduct yourself and lead a team is just different now. It's fine to have different personalities. We have different personalities. Josh Allen is not the same as Russell Wilson,

as Lamar Jackson is different from Joe Burrow. Patrick Mahomes is different than Trevor Lawrence. You're allowed. to have a personality. You're allowed to have an identity and a brand. That's not what is suppressed in the league. What is expected of you is leadership and standards and responsibility and accountability and consistency. And that's what Baker just refused to lean into. And him asking for the trade and them denying him before the whole Deshawn Watson thing happened, I think was the biggest tell of what the Browns really thought of him. Russell Wilson asked for a trade. He was traded.

Matthew Stafford asked for a trade. He was traded. How you treat people matters. They tend to remember that when you're constantly causing problems for them. And then you want to be accommodated and you're not that good. They have no reason to accommodate you. Why? Yeah. No, no, this just it's my memo to a lot of young broadcasters. Lubricate, don't agitate.

You have to get along with people. It likeability matters in the end. Just treat people like you'd want to be treated. You were all good. I think the idea is you're kind of a sellout. you do some corporate-type stuff like that. But you're being compensated on a corporate level. So that's kind of what goes along with it.

And they're often giving you great health insurance, good work environment. It's well capitalized. Sometimes folks, you have to do things. I know what mom and dad told you life would be perfect. But sometimes you have to sacrifice when you work at a place. I mean, what are you sacrificing, though? What is really the sacrifice? I'm not a sellout.

Look, get a good group of people that you can complain about in your group chat. that, do that, and then just go to work and get along with people. It's really not that hard, and it will actually benefit you in the end. I think that that's how this is going to end up playing out with Baker, because he's overall not that good. Tolerance and talent are on a constant scale, and he's, if you look at the bulk of his career, he's just an average quarterback. So the Cowboys recently traded Amari Cooper and tackle Lyle Collins, and Mike McCarthy acknowledged it was a difficult decision with both. He said Amari Cooper is the fantastic football player. He does some things clearly that put him with the best.

Same with Lyle. You don't want to lose those sort of players. Yeah, you did. But when you talk about the competition, there's also competition and a challenge in the financial arena. Yeah. So you have to make business decisions

that are in line with the dynamics of your cap. Zique's contract now is a problem. I never understood the Zee contract. Two years early for a running back. I thought it was way too early, way too much for a running back. And for the longest time, the insistence with the Cowboys was

that the offense runs through Zeke, and it doesn't. Well, it may- It was that offensive line. Well, I think it did for a year and a half to two years. In the beginning, yes. But he was also a huge beneficiary of having the best offensive line of football. And it's also, Sequin Barclay and Zeke are the two best Big Ten running backs I have seen in the last six, seven years. One's hurt and one's declined.

This is why the rule in the NFL has always been. Most GMs will tell you, do not give a running back a second contract. If you can get four games, good, like an Indianapolis. You get everything you can for four years out of Jonathan Daler. He'll sign with another team, but be very careful about that second contract. And Dallas is a, as you put it, a cautionary tale on what happens. He is now the second best back in a two-backback field.

Tony Pollard's a better back on most Sundays. Well, they haven't really made any moves to acquire new players. McCarthy said it's still early in free agency. I don't know that I necessarily agree with that. The best talent is moving around quickly. they also didn't receive anything for, they traded Cooper and sixth round pick to the Browns in return for a fifth round and sixth round pick.

And they also released Collins, so they didn't receive anything for him. And he is signing with the Bengals. Report Lee Burrow helped bring him into Cincinnati. So they also lost Randy Gregory and Cedric Wilson in Free Agency. And this is why, year to year, you really have to pay attention to the moves that teams make in the offseason and not just assume that they're running it back

with most of the personnel that they have. One player can make a huge difference. And I think Amari Cooper is going to end up being a, big, big missing piece for them. Yep. So the Zion saga continues, according to Shams Sharania, he isn't expected to play for the Pelicans this season. Saw that. He's been dealing with

a fractured foot injury, obviously a theme throughout his career so far. He's missed all but 24 games his rookie season to a right lateral meniscus played 61 games last season. The last time he has played was May 4th of 2021. So he's missed 130

games since being drafted by New Orleans 2019. Let me throw this to you, Joy, Taylor. I run the Pelicans. Yes. He's injury prone. College pros. Offseason. Am I better to move him now knowing he has tremendous talent?

But I know weight in injuries. Get something for him now. Or do I bring him back? He has a great first half at the trade deadline. Because if he gets hurt one more time, his market ends. Yeah. It's over. He's a throw-in piece.

I think you have to consider making calls and saying, listen, he doesn't like it here. He is in the best shape of his life. My theory on Biggs, when they get hurt early, it never gets better. Well, this was a question with him coming into the league is how healthy is he going to be? How is he going to manage his weight? What is his conditioning going to be like? He's had lower extremity issues. Those are obviously very hard to get cardio in when you're a big guy and your foot is injured.

You can't run. You can't do the cardio. that you need to get back in shape so you have to eat perfectly. You have to train differently. It's a lot to do, and he's been constantly injured. I don't know that I disagree with moving him now because there are those rumblings that he's unhappy there. So when it comes down to his max contract,

when they get to negotiating that, that might be a problem anyway. And you mentioned this when he came into the league. He might be the first guy that doesn't take that money because of where he ended up. So I don't know that it's the worst situation for the Pelicans to move out. We talked about this with Philadelphia and Ben Simmons. Now, they eventually got James Harden. Right.

But usually in the NBA, years and years ago, 1972 or something, the Bucks moved Lou Al Cinder. And the secret to it was that he told the organization, the Bucks back in the early 70s, I won out. It did not go public. That allowed Milwaukee to get an incredible haul for him. Now, the Lakers won the deal because they got one of the great players ever. Yeah. But if you went to Zion and said, hey, do you want to be here? and he said, no, just say, hey man, keep it quiet for six weeks and I'll move you or keep it

quiet for however. The key in this whole thing is if he's not happy and there's arguments to be made, he's not. Let's come to an agreement. Okay, we're going to move you. Do not tell anybody outside of maybe your dad or your mom and we'll move you because then I think New Orleans could get a better deal for him. I think there's a lot of teams like, I don't know, the Lakers who are looking for an explosive marquee player. I don't know. I'm just throwing it out there. You don't have to have assets to get him. That's true.

Whoever's going to trade with him is got to give him something. You've got to make it worth it. But it also, it's a lot of pressure because of his name and the expectations that he came into the league with. And when he was healthy, how dynamic he was when he actually is healthy. He was breaking Wilt's efficiency. Yeah, he's incredible. He was literally breaking Wilk Chamberlain's efficiency numbers.

It's, you know, it's like I say about Baker. If Baker could have gotten the mature. stuff right. His first seven, eight games last year was fantastic. His numbers were excellent. He just hurt. He couldn't manage Baker. Right. For a lot of young people, that's a problem.

Matt Ryan to the Colts is official. I think it's great for the Colts. He's the perfect remedy for Carson Wentz, who is wildly talented, but up down, up, down. You know exactly what you get with Matt Ryan. Atlanta is going to pay a lot of the salary, so he's only a $24 million cap hit. That's it for Indy.

That's incredibly manageable. And they may work that in year two and three, guaranteed money. So, and off of Carson Wentz, Matt Ryan is steady, great at the line of scrimmage. Very nice distributor. He is a declining older quarterback, but they just got to the playoffs two years ago with Matt Ryan, and he's better than Matt,

and he's better than Philip Rivers, and Matt's better than Philip Rivers. So, first of all, it's a win for the Colts. It's terrific for the Colts. A grown-up, I mean, when you say Matt Ryan, grade O'Line, Jonathan Taylor, good defense. That feels like a playoff team. It would absolutely, that whole thing would be a playoff team in the NFC.

Who knows if they can make it in the AFC? But this morning, I feel like they can win the division with that group. That's great for the Colts. You only gave up a third round pick. Secondly, it's a win for Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan finally gets an elite O line and a star running back. And it's the same wonky division. He left a wonky division.

He goes to a wonky division. So this is not a loss for Matt Ryan. He gets his money and he gets better protection. And, by the way, Atlanta was a mess for him. Calvin Ridley is suspended for a year, and they just lost Russell Gage to Tampa. So he loses a great tight end, but they were a mess at wide receiver.

Atlanta's in a complete rebuild. And they were in a rebuild with Matt Ryan. So that thing, he just escaped that thing. He just went to a playoff roster. So Matt Ryan win, this is a win-win. Now, what are the Falcons do? reportedly they're looking at Marcus Marioada. You know, if he could stay healthy, he's okay.

Marcus can play. He's just, he can't stay healthy. I mean, he's just one of those guys. He is brittle. He is thin. He likes to move. He's good at moving. He, unlike Russell Wilson, he can't avoid contact.

So you're not going to have him to last a year. But I think here's what Atlanta's looking at right now. We get out from under the Matt Ryan contract. We're not going to be, we're not a Super Bowl team. many way. We're probably not going to win a ton of games this year now. And next year, in a great college quarterback draft, we're going to have a top five pick. So I think Arthur Blank from an ownership position thought, listen, we got to restart this puppy. We wanted to eventually get out from under this contract. So we'll eat some of it. Get a third round

pick. Atlanta is looking to next draft. That's what the Atlanta Falcons are doing. We're not going to win the Super Bowl anyway. Let's get out from under this contract. And let's Let's, this is not a tanking year. Those don't exist in the NFL. Atlanta's going to be a bottom five team. I can tell you that right now. Atlanta's going to be a bottom five team. The giants are going to be a bottom five team.

There's a handful of them in the NFL. There's not a lot of them in the AFC. But Atlanta is looking to, not this draft, next year's draft. It's not a bad move for Arthur Blank. You weren't winning anything this year anyway. The Braves just won the World Series. You got SEC football. There's stuff to do in that market.

it. I mean, the Hawks were better than you thought. It's not going to be a great NFL year for the Atlanta Falcons. All right. It's a bad division. You'll win some games anyway. But this is a win-win. Good for the Colts. Good for Matt Ryan. And long term, I think it's good for the Falcons. You weren't going anywhere with Matt Ryan. You weren't going anywhere. You got Kyle Pitts in house. He's unbelievable. So the Falcons get a third round pick. And by the way, Tom Pellasaro was one of the people that broke it, good for him. And, you know, everybody wants a winner and a loser in this stuff.

I think Matt won, the Colts one, and long-term, Atlanta won. They're fine. It's going to be a good draft next year. They're going to get one of the picks. Remember, think about who could be bad this year. Most of the teams don't need a quarterback. Jacksonville doesn't need a quarterback if they're bad. You know, they're fine.
