Starting point is 00:03:28 What up? Sam. Hey, oh. Sam looking handsome today. Pressing buttons. Spotty on the videos at Kavino and Rich. Monseys here hanging out. And we be rocking out.

Starting point is 00:03:51 Sure. All night long. Sure. Seeing all your favorites. Don't I sound better? She was really... Did I say that today? Don't I sound better?

Starting point is 00:05:00 Dipsy do, dunkeroo. I still have a perfect bracket. Speaking up, well, Danny G's the Mr. perfect Fox Sports Radio. Danny G. Radio. Duke takes on Alabama tomorrow. Number one, Duke, number two, Alabama. And if they lose, you're going to see that meme
Starting point is 00:05:14 I told you about today. Was it intentional or coincidence? The world may never know. So yesterday Yankees win I'm a Yankees fan Danny G your Dodgers looking nice with the gold uniforms
Starting point is 00:05:29 The gold They also won by the way I know Lots of home runs hit Lots of big games Lots of big name players Young players doing well And
Starting point is 00:05:41 right at the end of the show yesterday Juan Soto came up With a chance to Tie and Yeah, tie the game. You had the biggest smile on your face. It was Rich standing next to Rob Parker before the odd couple began. Yeah, we didn't leave the studio.
Starting point is 00:05:57 We had to see what happened, right? So Juan Soto's up. Run around first and third. He strikes out so terribly. Right? You're like, oh, it was so weak. He didn't even just strike out swinging. He struck out like, eh.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Right? It was like embarrassing. Yeah. And I loved it. Now, I'm not a Soto hater. In fact, I don't know about that. I'll be diplomatic and I'll be mad enough to say, I think he does look good in the Mets uniform. He does.
Starting point is 00:06:25 He looks good. He fits right in. Do you make this sound? He chased the bag. But yeah, when he struck out and he went, ooh. There was a part of me, you're right, Danny G. That couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. And I love seeing Rich watch it.
Starting point is 00:06:40 And I just love seeing Soto's reaction. I love seeing him pout when he talked about it after the game. You know, his mannerisms look like. You paid how much for that? Because you pay Soto all that money so that he comes through in that moment. And he's a big moment guy. It's opening day. Soto's up.
Starting point is 00:06:58 He strikes out like that. That was pathetic. And Rich always has to convince himself that it's no big deal if something bad happens to one of his teams. So I heard him say to Rob Parker, it's a long season, right? It's a long season. You know, what are you going to do? You know, get him next time. But it was a sweet pitch.
Starting point is 00:07:16 and a really nice strikeout. Loved it. Because you could see how indecisive. He was fooled. He was totally fooled. It was one of those half swings. He didn't mean to, but he had to. The way he was looking back at the plate,
Starting point is 00:07:29 it was like somebody mugged him. Like someone robbed him. Took his wallet. So I want to make it clear. I don't hate on him. I'm not rooting for him. But I'm not rooting for anything bad. But I did love that moment.
Starting point is 00:07:40 It was great. I'm a Yankees fan. Now, on the Yankees side of things, This sort of went under the radar, but thanks to social media, people pick up on stuff, and then it goes viral. Jazz Chisholm, New York Yankee playing second. He's in the batters box. Now remember, jazz and Soto played together last year. I think that's important to the story.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Jazz Chisholm, colorful player, who's kind of viral for a few moments right now. They catch him do the Soto shuffle. Did you see that? And he's done it before. He did it when he was in Miami, and it caused a major problem with Miguel Rojas. Miguel Rojas wasn't happy about it. Turns out Miguel Rojas and some of those Marlins were a bunch of jerks anyway, because the other viral story that's resurfaced is the fact that they used to bully the hell out of this guy.
Starting point is 00:08:32 When he was a young kid on the Marlins, he would go there with his flashy new cleats. And it was one story where they poured milk in his cleats. They chopped them in half. They cut up his cleats. They bullied Jazz Chishol for wanting to stand out. wanting to be different. And he's like, yo, man, it was so messed up.
Starting point is 00:08:48 That story's gone viral. How the Marlins were just a bunch of punks, a bunch of haters anyway. But when he was in Miami, Miguel Rojas also got on him for doing the Soto shuffle then because he was like, yo, you can't be doing that.
Starting point is 00:09:03 In fact, here's Jash Chisholm talking about it. Soto is an all-star. You can't be doing that. Bro, what do you mean? He's having fun, bro. We're playing a kids game. So my question is, when you saw him do it again in the pinstripes yesterday,
Starting point is 00:09:18 is he allowed to do that? Because, I mean, Soto is his former teammate. It's like this. Here's how I see it at first. When you hang around someone long enough, you pick up on their mannerisms. Their expressions sort of become your expressions, and it's understood because you're boys, right?
Starting point is 00:09:35 And that's how friends communicate, friends talk. So when Jazz Chisholm does the Soto shuffle when he takes a pitch yesterday, was he just doing what his boy used to do? and it sort of just happened. You know, sometimes even when you're jokingly doing something, it just becomes a part of you and what you do. Or was he taking a jab at Soto?
Starting point is 00:09:56 Was it a funny moment? Was he poking fun at Soto? How do you view this moment? Or do you simply say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? Is it flattering when people imitate somebody? Or is it a weak move? and maybe Miguel Rojas was on to something. Like, yo, man, that's Soto's thing.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Be better than that. And it's disrespectful. Like, what are your thoughts? And by the way, this is a fun little nugget to think about before you call because I want to get you involved. Fox Sports Radio Nation, your thoughts. Is imitation really the best flattery or is it just weak? 87799 on Fox.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Is it case by case? 877 99 on Fox. That's the number at Covino and Rich. Do you know the full quote attributed? to imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Anyone? It finishes by saying, but they better pay you.
Starting point is 00:10:54 No, it should, right? According to Google, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Everybody loves to say that, right? It's the sincerest form of flattery. It means you're the man. It means they idolize you.
Starting point is 00:11:07 Take it as a compliment. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. So in other words, it's saying because you're mediocre and you have no originality of your own, so you're just paying homage to the greatness,
Starting point is 00:11:27 the original that came before you. You have no original thought, no original style, no original anything. So this is the greatest form of flattery you could show to the person who came up with it. Let me repeat that again. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.
Starting point is 00:11:44 in other words Soto is the greatness in this analogy but I look at it like this I do Jazz Chisholm is just doing what jazz chisholm does he's a colorful guy
Starting point is 00:11:57 he's funny he has a personality of his own he shows some flair and I think he's earned the right to do that because Soto was his boy and his teammate last year and he picked up a little something from the guy even though he had done it in the past
Starting point is 00:12:09 that's how I feel about it but there's other times and that's why I said case by case, case where I don't look at it that way. I don't. I'll give you another time where I do look at it like flattery. Kobe Bryant. Dude, the moves he made were identical.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Identical. When you see a side by side with him and Jordan and the moves, the way he copied Jordan, it was identical and it was the most sincerest form of flattery because he wanted to be like Mike. He wanted to be like Michael Jordan. You know he practiced all those moves. And there was no shame in that.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Everybody wanted to be like Mike. He did it and he did it great. He was Kobe Bryant. And you know what? I think Jordan was cool with that. I heard Rob Parker and Kelvin, the odd couple, talking about how, you know, Jordan embraced Kobe Bryant.
Starting point is 00:13:04 Jordan does not embrace LeBron James. So it was flattering. And it was flattery that Kobe Bryant did a lot of Jordan moves. Kobe Bryant also did a lot of his own Kobe moves. There's no question. He had his own originality too. Maybe that's why it was accepted. How do you feel about that, Danny G?
Starting point is 00:13:21 I think that MJ should be a little friendlier to LeBron. But, you know, MJ is a special guy. We all remember that speech that he gave where he sounded very, very bitter. And, you know, that drove him in his career. But no one had a problem when Kobe was doing those Jordan moves. Yeah, but Kobe was a more likable guy. I don't know if that's it. I think it has to do with Kobe never crowned himself.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Like he never said, I am the best. He always... Well, he gave himself a nickname, though. The black... Yeah, he gave himself that black mama nickname. Made it his own, yeah, the mama mentality, which really was like a Jordan sort of mentality, right? Sure, which is separate from a lot of players' mentality.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Like, a lot of people do not have that work ethic. That's like a real thing. I think there is a little bit of a difference. Like, I don't think he annoyed. He pointed himself the best, even though he was trying to be the best, just like Jordan, when LeBron appoints himself the best. He does. I mean, you crown yourself. You literally crown yourself.
Starting point is 00:14:25 You know, number 23. Your Twitter handle is King James. He was honoring Jordan. Sometimes it's weird how we view it. We work with a lot of people who crown themselves. Sure, and who are nobody's. Yes, I know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:36 Look, I'm not saying I'm a fan of LeBron putting the crown on his head. I do think, though, later on, we, our kids, might look back and say, wow, everybody was hard on LeBron and everybody misses him playing the game of basketball. That's the one thing right now where we're all in this moment of, you know, a lot of haters on LeBron. Oh, yeah. Way more haters than fans. And I don't fully disagree with you. I think a big part of it is social media and the access that we have to players and people today. because we didn't have access to Michael Jordan like this.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Trust me. Michael Jordan would not be as beloved if we all had found out all of his personal dirt on social media back in the day. I don't disagree. And so that's the really big difference. And, you know, Kobe kind of like didn't also have this mega social media life either. It wasn't the way it is now. So the access that we have to see LeBron and obviously like what's happening now with Steve and I like he kind of brings it on himself, but he's living in an age where,
Starting point is 00:15:41 this is what we do. This is how we live through social media. And he's complicated, kind of like how Tupac was. Sure. Yeah. Where there's two sides of the coin with LeBron. Yeah. Yeah. He makes us all roll our eyes often. But also, look at the life he's lived and he's never made any big mistakes. He's never, you know what I mean? He's been a great role model. I really do agree that we don't give him enough credit for certain things that he has done and that maybe like we are going to look back and be like, yeah, we're probably too harsh on him. You're probably right. But he does bring, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:16:16 Like, he does bring a lot of attention to himself. He loves it. He loves himself. My point is, too, Kobe Bryant did so many Michael Jordan moves and imitated Michael Jordan so many times, but we accepted it
Starting point is 00:16:32 and we loved it for what he did. LeBron wears his number and we don't accept it. Jordan doesn't accept it. So again, imitation. Fair move or weak move based on jazz chisholm doing the Soto Shuffle. Did it bother you? No, I loved it.
Starting point is 00:16:50 I'm glad you asked Danny G. Didn't bother me at all. And I didn't take it as a jab. I didn't either. I took it as he is just doing it because he wanted to just as he said in that soundbite. Like what? Who cares? Who cares that he's an all-star and he's won Soto?
Starting point is 00:17:07 He's the inventor of everything. I can't do it to his baseball. I'm having fun. haven't we all? Because we have to remember. And I brought up Kobe because Kobe was a fan. We're all fans. Jazz Chisholm's a fan. You don't think Jazz Chisholm's a fan of Soto? I'm sure he is, even though they're both big leaguers. We're all fans of the game.
Starting point is 00:17:23 When you were playing baseball, you didn't stand in the batter's box like Darrell Strawberry or whoever was your hero. We all do that as a form of flattery. And I still do that. But you still have to have an little bit of originality there, too, because that's where it becomes weak. Now, I said it's case by case, too, because there are very personal moments in life where you're like, that is not flattery. That is just weak. In Moncey, you're a woman. If you have a nice pair of shoes or a nice outfit and your girlfriend buys the same thing, don't tell me for a second you feel flattered. We better not wear it on the same day.
Starting point is 00:18:01 Oh, but you feel flattered? I would be. One of my friends or is it somebody I don't like? You're the weakest. You're friends. No, because I literally, like, when it's my friend's birthday and I have to buy them something, if I like it, I buy one for me, and I give them one, and I say, let's not wear it together. There's a lot of terms for this. I heard swagger jacker. Like, you're a swagger jacking. But to me, I just think you're the lamest. Get your own style. Be your own original. When Rich comes in here and he's wearing, like, sneakers that I already got, I want a karate kick him in the face. Honestly God. Like, Rich does so many little subtle things. I'm like, you know, dude, now we look like two dummies doing the same thing. think, right?
Starting point is 00:18:38 Like, for example, I always used to wear jackets. And I even said, like, I'm a jacket guy. Am I the inventor of jackets? Absolutely not. But I'm the jacket guy. And then he comes in with a jacket similar to mine. I want to give him an elbow to the neck. So I don't always feel flattering.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I feel it's a weak move. Be original. Get your own style, dude. Yeah, you know, you're right. I just, with like my closest friends, I feel like I wouldn't be upset, but you're right. There's somebody that would make me feel that way. You're not wrong.
Starting point is 00:19:07 There's somebody that I would look at side eye and be like, did you really wear that? And you're right. If it's your friend, you're like, you sort of look past it, but you make the mental note. You make the mental note. That's weak. Covino, it would be like if everyone at the network started wearing my Travis Matthew hat. And Danny, I feel for you, bro, because that was your thing. Dang.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Yo, it's so true. Danny G. was the Travis Matthew guy, right? We all try to put an original twist on who we are. He rock Travis Matthew all the time. All of a sudden, they're a sponsor of the show. Now everyone's right. Everybody's got it.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Not just have it. They have my same hat. Yeah. Ruins it. Now, here's the thing, though, and I think we're getting to the core of it. And I'm glad we're able to figure it out. We'll take your phone calls at 87799 on Fox. Mike who runs his place.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Who? I mean, this guy, he's just so full of wisdom, I guess. Mike who runs this place is like, there were two rivals. At another job, there were two rivals who didn't necessarily like each other at this other place that he worked at, right? one dude shows up he got a new car and you know what came out oh man sweet new rye was like an infinity or something like that like six months later the other dude bought the same exact car and it's like yeah it's so weak so it's like if you don't like that person and they're imitating you that's when it becomes an issue and i think
Starting point is 00:20:27 that's why jordan doesn't like lebron like because he really doesn't like him so that's why the flattery doesn't work there. I think imitation is the sincerest form of flattery when you like that person, when there's a humility involved. Yeah, also if it's competition, like the industry we do, we've all created a benchmark or a bit and you hear another radio station bite it. Yeah. And steal your idea. If I don't like that person, or there's a rivalry there, or I just don't vibe with that person, there is no humility. And all of a sudden they're doing something that I'm doing all the time. Yeah, you're going to be like, screw that. There's no. there's no flattery.
Starting point is 00:21:06 That's just mediocrity. You're an unoriginal style steeler. You should have spit my style. Dwight Shrut buys a bunch of Cornell attire to get under the skin of Andy on the office. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:21:22 Because Andy went to Cornell. He loves to show it off. He loves to brag that he went to Cornell. And then he's like, you didn't go to Cornell. And Dwight's like, I don't care. I'm just trying to screw with you. Oh, that's so funny. I didn't know that. I'm glad you brought that up. I never really watched that show. I've seen... I'm sorry, what?
Starting point is 00:21:35 Yeah, I don't watch that or friends or any corny show like that. It's not corny. I don't want... It's great. It's not corny. It's not corny. I mean, I've seen... Friends is corny.
Starting point is 00:21:44 I'll give you that. I love friends. It's one of my favorite shows of all time, but it's corny. I'll give you that. The office is... I don't watch Modern Family or... So you're just not fun. You're just not fun.
Starting point is 00:21:53 What's the other one? Rich always talks about? He's not listening to you. Oh, how I met your mother? Yeah, I never met her. I never seen that. Not my thing, guys. That's not who I am.
Starting point is 00:22:04 You know why? Because that's richest thing. You know what I do? My own thing. I'm my own man. I'm an individual. I'm an original. Being a unique person unless, of course, there's humility.
Starting point is 00:22:14 And I think when jazz chisholm does the Soto strut, the Soto Shuffle, I think. Can you describe, I don't think I've seen it? Can you tell our listeners what the Soto Shuffle is? Yeah, when he's in the batters box. Like he, yeah. Describe it for our listeners. It's like a slide. I think you're actually going to do like a shuffle.
Starting point is 00:22:37 When he's in the batter's box and he's taking a pitch and he does that, he leans into it and then he does that thing. So he's like Tony Perkins from heavyweights where he's doing the slide thing back and forth as a exercise? If Soto likes jazz chisholm, it's homage to Soto and Soto tips his hat like I saw what you did and that's funny and that's camaraderie and it's baseball and it's fun. I find no problem there. It's when you don't like that person. It becomes a jab. Yes. All right.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Your phone calls 87799 on Fox at Covino and Rich. Is imitation the best flattery? Is it a fair move or weak move? Is it case by case? Your thoughts? Brian, Vegas, you're on the show. All right. I love the show.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Thank you, buddy. Sad out to Rich. He's out. But Monty, you're filling in valiantly. Nice job. Thank you. I was just going to weigh in. You guys touched on most of this whole Kobe versus Jordan and LeBron and how they all.
Starting point is 00:23:31 I think it was because Kobe really, like, that first game. They didn't have a relationship. The first game they played against each other, he put his hands on his knees right next to Jordan and said, asked him about his footwork. A guy like Jordan that's so meticulous like that and so detailed, that's how he immediately are in disrespect. I don't know if I've ever heard of LeBron's approach like that. That's what it is. That's the humility of I know you're the goat and I want to learn from you and be like you and maybe one day even be better than you, but I want to I want to learn from you. and Jordan and LeBron came in differently.
Starting point is 00:24:05 That's not everybody's personality. LeBron was crowned when he was in middle school. It was a different vibe coming in. And maybe that's what rubbed. And Jordan took that personally, as they say. And that's also been a topic of discussion all week because of LeBron speaking on McAfee about how he doesn't have a relationship with Jordan.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Perhaps that's why. So think about it, guys. And I'll give you the quote one more time. imitation is especially if it's someone you appreciate or you like or you're okay with imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity could pay to greatness so chisholm doing the shuffle i'm cool with it we got games to play and prizes to give away prizes to give away and we do it next niji yeah coming up next we're going to bring it back we had fun with it last friday stevely

Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth, or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good

Starting point is 00:31:20 Now, I don't want to steal Monseys updates, but I just saw that at the Tampa Bay. Ray just had a walk-off. Was it? Was it Mizner? Who was it? Yes. It was? Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:32 I just saw that. They hit a walk-off home run against the Rockies, so a lot of celebrating just two days into it. Very nice. All right, you'll hear the updates from Moncey,
Starting point is 00:31:42 but we have a game to play, Danny G. Let's go. When Bill Belichick has some things in common. Bill Belichick's the man. They both have younger girlfriends named Jordan. He ain't the man if that was my daughter. They both have a powerful presence in the sports world.
Starting point is 00:31:59 Look harder so you can do that when you're 72. You tell us, is it Steve Kavino or Bill Belichick? I'm not mad at him at all. I want to know what it is. Yeah, they're basically like the same guy. Apparently, when we were on vacation a few weeks ago, it dawned on rich that both of us, both Bill and I were on vacation with our younger girlfriends,
Starting point is 00:32:25 both named Jordan. Yeah. But he was doing like aerobics on the beach with her. And I was also on the beach and we decided to play a game or make a game out of it. I think this game is harder than last one standing. It's called Steve Covino or Bill Belichick. Spotty boy right over there. How's it going?
Starting point is 00:32:45 Moncey is also going to take part. Iowa Sam, myself Danny G. And we'll get you on the studio line right now. Moncy, I'll use you for this. Would you love to travel to beautiful Springfield? Missouri, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Carson City, Nevada. Nevada. Don't want to get in trouble.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Yeah. Cadillac, Michigan, or Auburn, Maine. Let's go to Michigan. Cadillac. Let's go to Michigan. Mernie is on the line. What up, Mernie? That's right.
Starting point is 00:33:12 Thank you, Monsi. Yeah. Wow. What's up? All right. Go against the guys again. That's right. Mernie, here's how the game works.
Starting point is 00:33:22 I've done extensive research on Coach and Covino. and their young girlfriends. Each member of the crew here is going to read a fun fact. And then you've got to tell us, is it Steve Covino or Bill Belichick? And you've got to get two correct out of five chances, okay? Two out of five to win a Swiggy? This is sweet. These are sweet odds.
Starting point is 00:33:40 The Swiggy is a beautiful stainless steel water bottle, CNR and FSR water bottle. So let's go. All right. Monce is going to read the first fun fact. All right. So he is one quarter Irish. Cavino or Belichick?
Starting point is 00:33:56 Murney. Yeah, you're the only contestant, Marni. You're the only one playing. Yeah, it's all you. All you have to say is Covino or Belichick? I'm saying Belichick. No. That was a trick question.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Believe it or not, I mean, to look at me, I mean, people think I'm Filipino, I'm Hawaiian, but really, I am a quarter Irish. That's shocking. Mexican and Italian. It denies this Irish roots. Trust. Trust me, in the month of March, we heard him bragging about this almost the whole month.
Starting point is 00:34:26 You know what it is? My dad, who is Steve Kavino, Sr., he never says he's Irish because he's Kavino. He's Italian from the East Coast. So a lot of people don't know that. The hair on Kavino's butt is actually ginger. But the hair on my butt is red. Prove it. So, you know.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Mernie, it's okay. You have four more chances here, all right? Spot is going to. Spot he's reading the second fun thing. Bernie, pay attention because this is just for you, okay? His Jordan, both Belichick's Jordan and Kavino's Jordan, both very beautiful women. They are. They are.
Starting point is 00:35:00 They are young as well. His Jordan continued competitive cheerleading after graduating from college. Is it Kavino or Belichick? I know she birthed at Cedar, Spino. I'm going to say Belichick. And you would be right. Yes. Nice.
Starting point is 00:35:24 Good one. All right. So she needs one more for the whiz. She's on the board. Was Jordan a competitive cheerleader? No, no. Okay. No, but my daughter is a competitive cheerleader.
Starting point is 00:35:33 A whole other story. Anything else? All right. Iowa Sam has the third fun fact. All right. Here we go. He fell asleep in the stands next to Jordan during a basketball game.
Starting point is 00:35:49 He fell asleep in the stands next to Jordan during a basketball game. Covino or. or Belichick. I'm going to take the deal. That does seem like something you would do, though. I know. Yes, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:36:06 You know, in defense, I might have done that in the past, but recently it went viral that it was actually Bill Belichick that did that. I mean, I fall asleep during most movies she puts on. That doesn't count, though. And when she watches traitors and all this other, and Vanderpumps, I definitely fall asleep
Starting point is 00:36:22 watching that stuff. All right. Mernie, you're still alive here because there's two more fun facts. You just need to get one of the two right. I have the fourth one here. All right. His Jordan has fun online doing crumble cookie reviews. Covino or Belichick?
Starting point is 00:36:47 Covino. Yes. Congratulations. Michigan. Mernie, you played great. You got two out of five. You win a Swiggy. And the worst part about my girlfriend Jordan's Crumble cookie reviews on social media.
Starting point is 00:37:06 Yeah, but she's always buying crumble cookies. And she leaves them around. She takes a little bunny nibble. I was going to say. Leaves them out around the house and then I come home and I have to eat them all. I can't just let them sit there. For sure. So they're my nightmare.
Starting point is 00:37:18 But thank you, Mernie. Yeah, congratulations, Bernie. We are good. Yeah, we're going to mail out of CNR Swiggy to you in Michigan, okay? Sounds great. Have a great weekend. And that's how you play. Is it Steve Kavino or Bill Belichick, the same guy?
Starting point is 00:37:31 We're the same guy, everybody. And if you want to qualify for a Swiggy with the Swaggy, all you have to do is leave a nice review wherever we stream your podcast. Just search Covino and Rich and say something nice. Five-star review. Say something nice. And if Danny G ever calls your name or sends you an email, you win. All right.
Starting point is 00:37:50 All right. Let's get to an update with the greatest. Monzi Boulanos. Guys, we don't even need Rich. I'm just saying. I'm just saying. I mean, I was thinking it. I didn't say it.
Starting point is 00:38:02 For sure. Yeah, guys, the first baseball game of the day in the books, the race just walked it off against the Rockies. was the final score. We also have Sweet 16 action happening in women's college hoops with about six minutes to go. One seed South Carolina, edging four-seat Maryland, 57 to 56. The winner of this game will face two-seat Duke, who already eliminated three-seat North Carolina, 47 to 38 earlier today, and they'll head on to the elite eight. Other WNBA or College Women's Hoops News is that UConst,
Starting point is 00:38:40 Paige Beckers confirmed today that she does plan to enter the 2025 WNBA draft. We'll head over to the NBA where the Grizzlies have parted ways with head coach Taylor Jenkins after six seasons. They feel like he lost the locker room over the course of the season. Making the change now will help mitigate how they actually finish the season. So they're naming assistant Tomas Isalo as their interim head coach. Hornet Star Lamella Ball will miss the rest of the season as he undergoes two minor procedures to address ankle and wrist issues. In the NFL, the Ravens have reached the three-year contract extension with head coach
Starting point is 00:39:16 John Harbaugh in college football. Colorado coach Dion Sanders has earned a five-year $54 million contract extension, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the country. And in golf, round two of the Houston Open was suspended due to inclement weather. But Scotty Schaeffler finished his round, and he's at the top of the leaderboard at 11 under par overall. Back to Kavino. Thank you, Monci, Bolanos.
Starting point is 00:39:40 Yes. Again, it's the Covino and Rich show today with Danny G. Monci, Iowa, Sam, and Spottie. Spottie's got the videos going up at Covino and Rich. If you want to play along at home, thank you guys for hanging out. Now, when we get back, we are going to go over what you need to watch in the world of sports and entertainment this weekend. And a dazzling six-inning one-hit performance.
Starting point is 00:46:09 and a 7-3 loss to the Phillies. But still, one-hit performance. Yeah, one-hit performance for him. Props, opening day, 13 strikeouts. What a way to start the season. I was thinking Shohei Otani. I was thinking Ashton Hall, the morning routine guy. You know, he was a former athlete, right?
Starting point is 00:46:28 The morning routine guy that went viral this week. Wasn't he like the thing where he was in the NFL and only got eight yards? He asked him to college football. It was a collegiate football player. Alcorn State. Yeah. Alcorn State. Corn State. He had eight total yards
Starting point is 00:46:41 on six carries. He averaged 1.3 yards per carry. He has a hell of a morning routine, but he did not win. So congrats to McKenzie Gore for being our Express pros pro of the week. Again, I'm Steve Kavino. And it's time. We can't hobnobbing. Let's go.

I don't know about you, but I spent a lot of time on the bowl. A quick 20 minutes, rather than scrolling mindlessly, enjoy yourself. Entertain yourself. Watch these two guys.
Starting point is 00:48:51 That's a perfect way to market the show. We really should. I'm on the bowl for like a official bowl show. I don't mean like college bowl. Like a good 20, 25 minutes. That's perfect. That's official. Poof again.

Fight for Glory, 2024 World Series. It debuts today on Apple TV. In fact, I watched the first episode before I came into the studios. Very good. The first episode focuses in on Aaron, Judge, and Freddie Freeman.
Starting point is 00:49:35 And tells a story about Freeman's family and his son who was sick last year. now covino you're not going to like the end of this docu series but it is well done it can be like when i watch titanic every time i hope like the ending changes yeah ship doesn't sink no that i don't know that iran judge doesn't drop the ball every time every time and i wanted to mention a show that my wife and i were late to the party on but it's so worth checking out on paramount plus this came out in late twenty 24 landman now spot spot remember some of our listeners hit us up about this billy bob thornton show it's it's a taylorer Sheridan show who's behind Yellowstone.
Starting point is 00:50:11 Yes. And every possible spinoff of that show has. I hear it's an incredible show, same level. Yeah, because we're already into 1923, and it was 18, what, 1883 before that. And Landman is fabulously done. Ali Larder is his wife
Starting point is 00:50:27 and ex-wife and then wife again in the show. To be Moore is in it. Great cast, great storyline. Worth checking out Landman. He really has become, like, the male Shonda Rimes. You know how like Shonda Rine had like Grey's Anatomy and all those like dramas for women. Taylor Sheridan has every drama
Starting point is 00:50:42 you could want for men. Write up our listeners, Ali, on this show. You're going to love it. And Covino, I think you would like it too. Well, I've loved Billy Bob Thornton ever since he was in blood in blood out. He is a badass in this show.
Starting point is 00:50:54 He is so good in the show. A couple of NBA games to take note of for Sunday. Moncey or Clippers are at Cleveland, Clippers Cavs on Sunday. And then the Pistons and Timberwolves. Monty calls him the wolves. Timberwolves. Stop. I do.
Starting point is 00:51:08 Timberwops. Also, the Grizzlies and the Lakers are going to play. And now that they fire Taylor Jenkins, oh, John Moran, guess what? Now I'm not, I'm not saying. I just find that weird. I just find that weird. Matsy, you watch anything good or what? I'm watching Yellow Jackets.
Starting point is 00:51:26 But I'm on the third season. The first season was great. Second season is good. Really? I just finished it. All right. It's kind of dopey. There is a new show that I'm checking out.
Starting point is 00:51:35 It's very inside Hollywood, but funny. if you like Seth Rogan. The studio? I saw the first two episodes on Apple TV. It's a fun, crazy watch. A lot of cameos, so check it out. All right. Riva Dertie, baby.
