Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman
help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes
for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games.
This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing.
How many men carry a suit or armor?
It signals to the world that you're not to be played with.
And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.

J-MAC is joining us. It just so happens.
We, you know, hang out in this little beach community, not far from here.
And Steve Nash occasionally has spotted there playing tennis. He's a great tennis player.
and Steve Nash and the Brooklyn Nets have parted ways.
This I can tell you from what I've been told by people that know Steve Nash,
during the summer he was at Witson.
You got James Harden quit on the team.
Kyrie wouldn't get a vaccine.
Kevin Durant is great, but go ask Steve Kerr.
Steve Kerr was walking on eggshells with Kevin Durant.
And I love Kevin Durant.
But Kevin is prickly and difficult.
and Steve Kerr struggled with him.
And remember in August,
Kevin Durant met with the owner with the Nets and said,
me or Nash, choose one.
And then, you know, Kevin wanted to trade.
He wanted Steve Nash out.
There's a lot of denials, but it was true.
This is, I'm actually happy for Steve Nash.
Congratulations to Steve Nash for no longer coaching,
the NBA's biggest tire fire.
You've got egos, overpaid players.
I mean, this is just, now there's increased pressure on Kevin
Durant because once he left the Warriors and they want a title, it makes him look worse.
And so now Kevin Durant feels that absolute pressure.
Kyrie is just becoming.
I said about Kyrie last year.
He's the only superstar I ever remember in my life that I would trade for rotational
players, bench players.
Get him out of the building.
He's a culture killer.
So Steve Nash is one of the single smartest athletes I've ever interviewed in my life.
He's a brilliant guy.
This is, and I'm happy that he gave it a run.
I think he can coach, whether you think he can or not,
this is a mess for a million reasons.
I think you have to just keep KD, move everything else,
almost start over.
But I actually feel this is one of those,
a coach loses a job and I'm happy for it.
Yeah, he just got off the Titanic, Colin.
The Titanic is the Brooklyn Nets going down and Nash got off.
The story about how Kyrie Irving kept Steve Nash waiting in the rain at his front door for 30 minutes
is just an abomination the way Kyrie treated him at practice.
It's awful. Nash, big win for him today.
Yeah, I've heard practice with this group was a circus.
Practice.
All right, here we go.
Every week at this time, our top 10 NFL teams, it's not easy doing this.
There's some surprise teams.
Here we go.
Heard hierarchy.
Time is now, let's go.
The top 10 NFL teams, according to college.
Number 10.
Cincinnati, listen, the chief's lost of the Colts.
it's okay on the road to have a bad game.
Three of their four losses have come on the road.
They struggle to block Miles Garrett.
Jamar Chase is out.
But Joe Burrell's been sacked 99 times in the last two years.
They got to get that O line fixed on the edges.
They have helped it on the interior.
Now they got the Panthers of buy and the Steelers coming up.
They're going to be fine.
But listen, Cleveland owns them.
And it's just one of those things where Miles Garrett right now,
the Bengals don't have the personnel to block him.
J. Mack and I,
both thought Cleveland would give them trouble last night.
They did, but don't sell the farm.
Carolina beat Tom Brady.
We get this every year where you just, you have a game, you don't show up, it's a bad
matchup and you get whacked.
The Bengals are still a top 10 team.
Number nine.
Listen, are the Seahawks a good story or a good team?
I don't know, but they're number four in the league in scoring.
They had the best draft I can recall in years.
Two tackles.
Star running back, star corner, star pass rusher.
or semi-star.
They have 14 sacks over the last three weeks.
They lead the NFL.
Their defense, seven games with multiple takeaways.
They hit it out of the park.
Pete Carroll's always done very well with young players who buy into his relentless energy.
They're now scoring Shane Waldron a great O.C.
Higher Ciox at 9.
Number eight.
You know, I love the Ravens.
I love the Ravens.
They drive me nuts, but they have the easiest remaining schedule, the number two rushing,
offense in the league. The highest rushing average, they can control the clock. And by the way,
Lamar Jackson wins 75% of his games. And yes, he can win it in the fourth quarter to like he did last
week. He's had back-to-back games without a turnover. There are so many things I like about this
franchise starts with Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson. They're always going to be in my top 10 unless they
literally go off a cliff. Still have Baltimore at eight. Number seven. Right now the dolphins are good.
Now, I do think post- Thanksgiving, cold, windy weather, it'll be a different looking offense,
but they're 5-0 this year when Tua starts.
They are terrific on third down.
Do you know the only offenses in the league that pass the ball better in terms of numbers are the bills and the chiefs?
So between the coach, the tight end, Tyree Kill, Jalen Wadle, this is explosive.
And also, you know what?
You got to give two a credit.
On third down, he has been unbelievable this year.
He's completed 72% of his throws on third down.
some of that is schematics, but he deserves credit.
They're 5 and 0 when he starts.
Miami at 7.
Number 6.
But I probably take Dallas to beat him.
The only loss this year for this team is game one when DAC was injured and at Philadelphia.
And Philadelphia is really good.
Their defense is fantastic.
They lead the NFL with 33 sacks.
Sometimes they get them without bringing that much pressure.
They take the ball away.
Now can they come to terms with Tony Pollard?
Is their running back?
He's their star running back, not Zeke.
Jerry, you're just going to have to step aside.
I know you love Zeke.
You paid him a lot of money.
Do I have questions about Mike McCarthy in crisis?
Absolutely.
Questions about not having anybody I trust beyond C.D. Lamb at Whiteout.
Absolutely.
But this defense, this run game, they're six.
Cowboys.
Number five.
Vikings added T.J. Hawkinson, another weapon to this offense.
One of two teams in the league with 10 touchdown passes and 10 rushing touchdowns.
Eagles are the other. Yes, they're winning close games. That's why they get T.J. Hawkinson,
so you can't double up on Justin Jefferson and take him out of game plans. Listen, I like them.
Do I love them? I'll tell you this. You had a great tight end to Dalvin Cook. Thielen, Justin Jefferson.
By the way, Zadaria Smith they got from the Packers is crushing it. They got a lot of the elements.
They got a lot of the elements. Vikings at five. Number four.
Listen, if you don't get the Niners, I can't help you. Okay, they love.
lost to Kansas City after Kansas City came off a loss to Buffalo. It was a buzzsaw. But Jimmy
Garoppolo, hate to break it to you. Fourth straight game with multiple touchdown passes.
Four games with 100 plus passer rating. This week, crush the Rams without Debo, without their great
fullback. Every week they get another healthy player back. Eighth straight regular win over the
rival Rams. Now it's Christian McCaffrey. Elijah Mitchell's coming back. Keep your eye on the
In the NFC, they're going nowhere.
Number three.
Buffalo Bills. I know they won and everybody loved it.
Does anybody bail on their running game faster than Buffalo?
They're getting too cocky, too much chatter.
You don't have any wins.
Where are your Super Bowls?
Couldn't get them with Jim Kelly.
You're not getting them now.
I like the team, but they bail on their run game.
They're overly Josh Allen-centric.
Sometimes you've got to take the ball out of your best player's hands to protect him from himself.
Now, they do have the number one offense and the best yardage differential.
But Josh Allen's accounted for 21 to their 23 offensive touchdowns this year.
Stop bailing on your run game.
Bill's at three.
Number two.
Chiefs were idle, so I'll put them at two.
What do you want me to say?
They're 19 and 3 off a by with Andy Reid, so you know they're winning this week.
Best third down offense, why I put them at two, they're susceptible on the back end of their defense.
They've allowed the most passing touchdowns in the league.
Some of that is because they lead late.
Some of it is because they gave up a really good corner to the 9.
I do worry in the AFC that they're vulnerable on the back end of that defense.
It worries me, Kansas City, too.
Number one.
Listen, Philadelphia played and won by a route.
They are no longer just a great story.
They appear to be a great team.
They take the ball away.
They don't give it up.
Boy, when you give a young quarterback a star receiver.
Josh Allen gets Stefan Diggs, pops.
Jalen Hertz gets A.J. Brown.
Pops.
Two against Tyreek Hill.
Pops.
A.J. Brown stretches that field.
What a get by a get by.
Howie Roseman, the GM.
I'll put them at one.
They played and they won in a route.
All right.
Nick Wright is sitting there.
Probably not happy with that.
Well, you know, I got the bills.
And I know what you're saying.
Well, Buffalo beat Kansas City.
Well, Cleveland beat Cincinnati.
Do I think Cleveland's better than Cincinnati as a hole?
No.
This is not standings.
I don't do standings.
That's not what I do here.
What do I believe?
Neutral field, Kansas City is better than Buffalo?
Because they're not as reliant solely
on one player. Nick right now joining us live, first things first. All right, let's, I know,
what do you make of that? I'm proud of you. I mean, you know, people are going to get mad at you.
You're disrespecting the back-to-back Super Bowl champion and the back-to-back MVP, Josh Allen. But
despite that, Colin, I think you make some really good points. Also, by the way, can I just say
some real quick? Yeah. There's no rule against name-dropping me when I'm not on the show. The only
time I've ever heard you name drop me when I'm not here is you said to Greg Jennings last week
and Nick Wright, he's got some really out there opinions for Nick Wright, he's wrong a lot.
But 15 minutes ago, you were like, you know, I heard somebody make the point yesterday that the
rule book says about DJ Moore's penalty that you have to be on the field or in the end zone.
And he wasn't in either. He was out of bounds. Yeah, that somebody is me, your colleague, your
Mantee, your dear friend.
Go ahead and just say, hey, Nick Wright
made a good point, but go ahead. I'm sure we're
talking Nash, whatever you want. Well, I
will say this. Nash is a great talking
point because you are a Brooklyn
net season ticket holder. You set
10 rolls back mid-court.
And I, during the off-season,
Nash had told people he was close with
I want to go back to playing tennis.
This is a mess. I feel
actually I'm happy
occasionally for a coach. I don't know what you do.
here. I heard practices were a circus. Forget games. What do you make of the parting of the ways?
Okay, so obviously he was in, and both these things can be true. Steve Nash was in an impossible
position, and Steve Nash, in two plus years as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, has done a
miserable job. Both of those things are true. I feel for him, everyone likes him. He was an
abysmal NBA head coach. For two and a half years, they have been an awful defensive team,
and they don't run an offense. The offense is simply, eh, gave the ball to Durant, let him do
something. Give the ball to Kyrie, let him do something. And his playoff adjustments were simply,
can Kevin Durant play all 48 minutes? Maybe let's try it. So he was not doing a good job. He was also
dealt an unwinnable hand.
And the old next year Nets,
I tried to warn everybody
that the problem with the next year Nets
is next year eventually becomes this year
and then the games are played.
And you're right, Colin. I've been at every Nets home game
until last night. Last night I was out
trigger treating with my daughter.
And they've been terrible.
Yeah. And they play basketball
like they wanted to get their coach fired,
which Kevin Durant, you know, did demand
they fire the coach. But I don't
think firing Nash bringing in
Jacques Vaughn, who wins 28% of his games as a head coach, is going to fix anything.
I know, obviously, they're going to go after Ime, Udoka.
Yeah.
That's the obvious move.
But I don't think that fixes things either.
This is a poorly constructed roster that Sean Marks deserves a lot of blame for.
Kyrie Irving, on the court, is wildly overrated as he's just a one-way player and doesn't really get his teammates involved.
And off the court is as much of a disaster as any player, as far as bringing on negative attention to the team.
as any player currently in the league.
And Katie literally doesn't want to be there.
Yeah.
So, oh, yeah, and they have Ben Simmons.
That was the other thing.
Everyone's like, oh, the Nets who got swept in round one last year.
Oh, but they're different now that they have Ben Simmons.
Ben Simmons worth 16 playoff wins?
I don't think so.
So, yeah, they're in trouble.
I want to do one more NBA topic here because some guys you can build.
Janice, LeBron,
Dwayne Wade,
Steph Curry.
You can build around them.
They're not only talented.
They're stable.
They're not flaky.
They're smart.
There are players
that are really talented.
You can't build around.
They're just different.
And it's really interesting.
Very few things in sports at this point
in my career get me worked up.
But the Clippers thought they could build
around Kauai.
And they're finding out.
He's nonverbal.
He's sort of odd.
You can't depend on
him. He was great when you would put him
in a great culture, Toronto, San Antonio.
The Clippers mistakenly
thought we're going to build the culture around him.
It's like building around AD.
You can't rely on him.
Kauai Leonard's not going on another road trip.
I think you were one of the... Another road trip.
Yeah. Did he suffer a new injury?
This is the...
Listen, I empathize with
guys dealing with, you know, injuries.
But did Kauai Leonard
tear his ACL or have his leg amputated?
because if he just tore his ACL, I think he should be back by now.
I don't totally follow, nor do I understand what the management plan is.
And so there's two points here, Colin.
One is, I think if you're saying, hey, fantasy draft, but for teams, guys you can have for the rest of this season,
I think there are 30 names you would say before Kauai Leonard because you simply cannot count on him being there.
That's first point.
The second point is this.
Kauai Leonard has always been on this incredibly, call it, conservative load management.
Right, right, right.
And it clearly, I think we have a dozen years of evidence now, or 10 years, has not served him right.
Like, he never has, Bruce Sar talked to us all the time, dating back to San Antonio.
If he was dinged up a little bit, he didn't want to play through it.
And clearly, it is not led to the best long-term health he could have.
Even his year in Toronto when he was on that incredibly conservative load management plan.
He peaked in round two against the Sixers and then was literally and figuratively limping in the finals against the Warriors that they won after all the Warriors' injuries.
Like, I don't know what that Kauai has handled this the way he should have,
not only because it's bad for the league to have stars sitting out this much,
but because I think maybe, you know, the metaphorical build up some calluses.
He never has.
And now, I mean, he's going to, he's out 16, 17, 18 months with an injury some guys are
out nine months with.
I've never seen anything like it.
Yeah.
Listen, Kyrie mentally, you can't build around him.
A.D. Kawhi, physically, you can't build around him. People confuse. You know, there's about
seven guys in the league. I'm like, I am building around them. There's 30 guys I love.
And I think he falls into that second, he falls into that first, you know, that category of
talented. I'll never lean on him again. I think the clippers are finding out. You don't know
if he's playing. Now football. It is interesting. I watch Justin Fields. You like Chicago. I like
Chicago. I love what the Bears did. They gave up a star because they're saying, listen,
we've been defense for 50 years. We have one Super Bowl and 40 bad years. We need draft picks.
Can Justin Fields play? And I think so far there's evidence 60-40, Justin Fields can play.
So I love the trade, even though half the draft picks could be whiffs. What did you make of giving up your
best player? How does it land for you?
So, Colin, I got something to tell you, this is really going to be a test of our relationship.
So the moment you started asking me that question, I lost all audio.
Okay.
And I was trying to read your lips, and then they took a wider shot, and I couldn't read your lips anymore.
But I see the bottom line.
So I'm of the Bears and Roquan Smith and the Saints.
So I'm going to try to talk about that and see if they get the audio back.
So do I think this is a good idea for the Baltimore Ravens?
The answer is yes, and I do think I want to give credit.
our mutual friend Peter Schrager made the point that the Ravens are more concerned about games played in February than the negotiating table in March.
And what he's talking about is the Ravens need their franchise tag available for Lamar Jackson.
Right.
So Roquan Smith might be there as a purely short-term rental.
And if he is, is it worth it?
But the idea that you are in Baltimore saying we have Lamar, he is still relatively or.
actually not even just relatively, incredibly cheap.
Every year we have him in his prime and he's healthy, we should be trying to win.
That's right.
I applaud that.
Now, I got your audio back.
I just heard you agree with me.
Yeah.
And so I would, now I think you can go too far with that.
Right.
I think the Los Angeles Rams potentially have, you know, taking that philosophy too far.
I saw Albert Breer reported.
Yeah.
They offered two first round picks for Brian Burns.
That's crazy to me because they are not a Super Bowl.
team this year, not with that offense, not with that offensive line. But if you have Lamar Jackson,
just like if you have Patrick Mahomes, you should be trying to win every single year. Now that doesn't
mean you always make the win now trade. But if they rated Roquan Smith as a top 15 player in that
draft, and they now can get him for a second and a fifth. And if he walks, they get a compensatory
pick probably a fourth for him. It makes a lot of sense. I think the Ravens are a smarter
organization and they're one of the very few scary
scary teams for me in the AFC. And by the way, what my
question was, even though I loved your answer, I like what
Chicago did because for 50 years, all I've heard is,
oh, you can't hear again? He can't hear again.
Well, and I can read your lips though, Colin. I've known you for so long.
You're right, I can't hear you, but I can do whatever you want here.
I feel badly. Colin, I'm going to tell America this and they're
probably going to have to end this because I can't hear the host.
But Colin was like, Nick, you've been doing Wednesdays for years.
We're going to move you to Tuesday's top of the hour.
They did some audience research.
They're like, this is when America wants Nick Wright.
I think the real answer is somebody else canceled.
Like, throw Nick in there.
It doesn't matter.
But there's a big debut, new audience for me,
and we're having all these technical difficulties.
I feel terribly about it.
But, I mean, you know, it is what it is.
I personally blame Healy.
Yeah.
But the audience doesn't know who he is.
But I think he's accountable.
All right.
Nick Wright, first things first.
Great seeing you, buddy.
Appreciate it. Bye.
See you, Mark.
Yeah, I like Chicago. He did a pretty good job for not being able to hear me.
It was kind of a stellar job.
Steve Nash been fired from Brooklyn.
Now, I always say when it comes to coaches, you know, it's hard for me.
I don't watch the film like an NFL coach, so I'm not going to bang on their play calling.
They could have injuries I don't know about, substitution patterns, limitations.
Steve Nash, a great coach.
Clearly, all they could rely on last year in the playoffs was Kevin Durant.
That's all they had.
I mean, that's Joe Harris.
I don't trust him in a big spot.
They didn't have Ben Simmons, you know, available.
They wish he was.
He wasn't.
You know, Hardin was, you know, quit.
He was gone by the end of the year.
Kyrie doesn't, you know, he made a great point about Kyrie.
Kyrie doesn't, for a great ball handler who has the ball at a time, doesn't pass to others.
It doesn't play defense.
Kyrie is just a singularly great offensive talent.
He does not make teams better.
He doesn't.
Remember, when he was in Cleveland pre-Lebron,
a lot of people thought he was a bust.
He was never healthy and nobody liked him.
And then LeBron came, brought the leadership, the defense, the distribution,
and he finished possessions with jumpers.
He's a great, he can play with both hands.
But Kyrie is the great example.
It's Westbrook.
Does he make anybody better?
No.
He's just wildly talented.
Now, Kyrie's a better shooter.
than Westbrook, and he's a better player than Westbrook.
But Kyrie has always been a little fool's gold.
That he, you know, he's one of these guys that he gets endorsement, and he's a wizard,
he's a great finisher.
But some of this stuff to be great is defense, distribution, leadership, dependability.
Kyrie is often hurt, rarely emotionally engaged, creates cultural fires minute by minute
day by day.
and I think Steve Nash is better off coming back west where he prefers and having a life.
Because I think everybody bought into this Brooklyn Net story.
And I said, go look at the best teams in the NBA.
Boston starts with culture.
Warriors, Stefan, culture.
Bucks, Yonis culture.
Toronto Raptors a few years ago added Kauai, culture.
Spurs for years, Duncan and Culture.
New England Patriots, Culture.
Bama football, culture.
Stuff matters.
It's not just throwing a bunch of dudes.
together. Dodgers have the most dudes.
You know what I mean? The Dodge
Phillies are winning with Bryce Harper and culture.
You said Kyrie Irving doesn't really
make anyone else better. Colin, I looked this up
a moment ago. Do you know how many MVP votes in his career
Kyrie Irving has? In his entire career,
just first place MVP votes.
None. Zero. Not one. He's never finished
top 12 in MVP voting.
Like Russell Westbrook at least has an MVP award.
He carried the Washington.
Wizers to the playoffs.
Kyrie's never carried anybody anywhere.
And the other thing, Colin, I'm looking this up.
You want to guess how many coaches Kyrie Irving has had in his NBA career?
Let me guess.
Seven.
Eight in ten years.
Eight coaches in ten years.
They're calling Kyrie Irving a coach killer.
This is a second coach.
He got fired in Brooklyn.
Kenny Atkinson, you remember that?
This guy's one of the most overrated players in NBA history.
He hit one shot.
That's it, Colin.
One shot.
Game seven against the Warriors.
Congratulations.
That's it.
No MVP votes.
Steve Nash, a better player,
had a better career than Kyrie Irving.
Come on.
Oh, absolutely.
It's not even close.
The Kyrie Irving fans,
these guys are clueless.
Sorry.

Each episode, we picket here, unpack what went down,
and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill,
waxing all about crack in the 80s.
To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you're not just so you're not.
I mean, at this point, this is the second episode where we've discussed correct.
So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Thank you finishing that sentence.
Yes.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Really?
Yeah.
For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.

Here's J-MAC with the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Show's more fun when there's breaking news.
Oh, we got two big ones today.
So far.
Small report, Brandon Cook's not at practice.
The media came in.
They don't see him anywhere.
Speculation, we'll see.
Whoa, whoa.
Cook could be on the move.
Nothing yet.
If I was Green Bay, I'd do it.
Green Bay, Dallas, maybe get a bidding war.
Oh, Dallas fits.
Dallas fits.
All right, let's start with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They're going to buy this week.
They got to turn it around offensively, Colin.
League worst 15 points per game.
Kenny Pickett, now speaking up, he's frustrated with a stagnant offense.
Is this a shot at his offensive coordinator, Colin?
Here's what he had to say.
You know, something's got to change, right?
I mean, it's insane to keep doing the same thing over and over again,
expect something different.
And we've been having these problems all year.
So that has to get changed.
it has to get fixed.
Oh, guys need to know what they're doing.
You know, we need to study more.
I don't think we study enough as a group.
There's way too many, you know, penalties and stuff like that,
which, you know, we can control.
It's all mental.
So for that to happen, there's really no excuse for that.
Wow.
We need to study more?
No, what you're talking to?
Is running back as receivers?
I like that Kenny Pickett.
If you want to be a leader of an organization, call people out.
Can you do that as a rookie?
You've been in a week for like seven minutes and you're popping off?
I think you have to.
Because I got news for you.
They're not, he plays the most important position.
And this has been the knock.
This has been the knock on Mike Tomlin.
Little light on the details, heavy on the motivation.
He's great developing.
He's great motivating.
He's a great underdog coach.
But on the details can get a little sloppy, can get a little loose.
What happened to praise publicly, criticized privately?
I thought we agreed on that last week that that's like a good thing to do.
I think, yes, ideally.
But remember, Kenny Pickett asking,
making a point is not the greatest
quarterback of all time.
Like, I mean, Aaron Rogers
has made it a, A, A,
and I'm talking about Brady before that,
but Aaron Rogers has made it a point
to constantly publicly
criticize and passively
aggressively criticize. That's a pattern.
This is Kenny Pickett saying, I don't think
we study enough. He didn't call it,
I mean, you and I don't know who he's talking
about. When Aaron Rogers did it publicly,
we knew exactly who he was talking about,
Romeo Dobbs or Christian Watson.
We knew exactly.
I have no idea who Kenny Pickett's talking about.
Do you?
Well, I'm not going to speculate.
There you go.
I should.
I like speculating, but I will not.
All right, moving on.
Colin, I teased this one earlier.
The Buck's defense, Tampa Bay,
having a lot of issues,
a lot of starters out due to injury,
but to make matters worse.
Tampa Bay legend, Warren Sapp,
went on his Instagram to point out
another issues with the defense,
and it was specifically on Devin White,
their middle linebacker captain,
His lack of effort.
Here's what Warren Sapp had to say on the ground.
I want you to watch the effort of the captain right here, number 45.
And then a non-discipline over.
54, just run through it.
Just run through it.
Nope.
27.
Contain the ball.
The longest plays in the NFL have an up the sideline.
Nope.
Lock your safety.
Now we've got a hat for a hat at a first down.
I want you to watch the captain.
How do you show up with your defense on the only front?
Wow.
I ask for your sea off your chest.
Oh.
Are you sh-kling me?
Oh.
Are you kidding me, right?
What is that?
Wow.
Look.
Listen, Tampa Bay is starting to unravel.
Brady's got his stuff.
We know bowls.
I don't know if you saw the interview last week.
Byron Lefich was asked about an advanced stat that a lot of the gamblers used.
And Byron Lefich scoffed at the question.
It was like, we're going to do what we think is best.
And it's like, what, running Leonard for an end of the...
into the middle of the line of scrimmage on first down every single time.
Tampa's got a lot of problems right now, Colin.
They do.
I don't know where this team's headed, but I feel extra bad that Tom Brady had to come back to this.
Jeopardize his marriage.
Tom made some choices.
It's not all on everybody else.
Life is difficult.
Finally.
Oh, Colin, we've got a positive story.
Oh, the Brooklyn Nets.
The drama-filled season.
Things have gotten worse.
Breaking news.
Steve Nash and the Nets agreed to part ways.
Sean Marks spoke to the decision saying,
we want to thank Steve for everything he brought to our franchise
over the past two-plus seasons.
Since becoming our head coach,
Steve was faced with a number of unprecedented challenges
and we are significantly grateful for his leadership, patience,
and humility through this tenure.
Personally, this was an immensely difficult decision.
However, after much deliberation and evaluation of how the season has begun,
we agreed that a change is necessary at this time.
according to Adrian Wode's
Naurowski, Jacques Vaughn,
will be the acting head coach tonight.
The Nets, am I reading this correctly?
The Nets are expected to inquire about Ime, Udoka,
the Celtics coach who's been suspended for off-court shenanigans
with a couple of women in the Celtics organization.
Quinn Snyder may be in the mix, the former jazz coach.
Colin, this is a little insane here.
It is. We have breaking more breaking news.
So J-Mack with the news.
Whoa, more.
Oh, gosh, I loved it.
And thanks for shopping.
The Herd Lai News.
Field Yates at ESPN, trustable dude.
The Bears are trading a second round pick to Pittsburgh for Chase Claypool.
So, by the way, Minnesota got better in division.
Chicago now is better in division.
Green Bay, hands sitting on their hands.
So here's what Chicago is saying.
Because Chicago this morning, as of this morning, had a first two seconds.
A third, two, fours, two fifths.
So now they're saying, we'll give you one of our seconds.
We got a second for Roquan Smith.
We'll give one of those things up.
We'll still have a second.
And we're going to give our quarterback, whether he's a one or not,
Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool and Cole come at and Armstrong.
All right.
Now that's fair.
So now next year, you've got to go draft another receiver.
But now we have two guys that have been in the league and a tied end that's been in the league
and are running.
By the way, they have a Herbert.
they have a backup running back guy.
Palo Herbert is nice.
He's nice.
So now you get some sense of,
is Chicago doing this?
Let's throw this out there.
Is Chicago saying this?
Okay.
This GM didn't draft Justin Fields
and nor did this coach.
So they're like,
why wait until next year?
Let's give him weapons now
and watch the next 7, 8, 9, 10 games.
And it's a good quarterback draft.
Is Chicago saying, why wait?
Let's go see what he is with Cole come at.
Armstrong.
Herbert.
Mooney.
Pet us can be a three.
That's what he is.
He's not a two.
Okay.
So now this is very interesting to me.
Are the bears, the GM and the coach, saying,
hey, we're seeing some things.
Now we're going to throw a legitimate,
strong number two receiver, Chase Clayboy.
He's a playmaker.
You can put him on, you can get him the ball early.
Now they got two legitimate receivers, a legitimate tight end.
Is this a building for the few?
future, or is it, let's see what we have with Justin Fields?
Because I think 60-40, I'm seeing some things I like with Justin Fields.
There's stuff I like that game against the Cowboys and that defense, he made some throws.
He moves incredibly well.
That Patriots game, he was phenomenal on Monday night football.
So, Colin, let me ask.
How about the Chicago Bears are growing up in front of our eyes?
We're going to become Bears fans pretty soon, right?
I mean, I'm loving this Justin Fields.
But let me ask you, I'm seeing that it was a second round pick for Chase Claypool, who was a second round pick.
Hopefully it's that Minnesota pick they just acquired.
Right?
But now you're looking at Chase Claypool for a second.
He was a second round pick.
Was there a bidding war where someone was like,
well, we'll give you a third and the Bears had to ante up
because a second round pick for Claypool seems a little bit steep.
I like him.
You just said he's a number two receiver.
Well, here's the thing.
With Chase Claypool gone, that's one less receiver for the Packers to get.
I think Green Bay should go after DJ Moore.
Absolutely.
Because if DJ Moore is your number one in Green Bay,
Aaron would love him.
Now Romeo Dobbs is an emerging to,
Alan Lazzards, a real three.
We like Aaron Jones in the tight end.
Tanya and the running back are fine.
But you've got to get a number one in there
because then everybody falls into place.
Romeo Dobbs is an ascending to,
because he's got some smoke, he can play.
Lazzards a three.
And then Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins,
who because of age and health,
they become nice fours.
Then you've got a real package.
Because we know the defense is underachieving but talented in Green Bay.
We know the Green Bay defense is talented.
So to me, it also, that kind of Zen would manifest in happiness for Aaron Rogers.
If I'm Green Bay, right now the bears are better offensively.
The Vikings added T.J. Hawkinson there are better.
Green Bay, we're going to sit around?
Yeah.
We sit around doing nothing.
Chiefs added Cadarius Tony last week from the Giants.
Like, I'm just, the smart teams are adding up.
San Francisco added Christian McCaffrey.
Yeah.
And I think Dallas adds Brandon Cooks.
Well, Cooks, DJ Moore are out there.
We'll see.
But do you, your gut, do you think Aaron Rogers is seeing this stuff?
And he's going to the Packers today.
What are we doing?
What's our game plan?
I would. Would you?
I would.
Well, I would do it.
But do you think Aaron Rogers is doing?
I don't know him.
All I know is this.
He knows how good Hawkinson is.
And the Vikings clobbered us in the own.
opener and they just got better. And I see
our record. They're adding a piece,
a middle of the field piece.
What do we got here? If Green Bay
doesn't make a move,
okay,
this is the downside for Aaron
taking $50 million.
You handcuff your team.
Hey, listen, this Russell
Wilson contract, I think next
year in Denver, I think it's next year the next year.
It gets up to $50 million plus for like five years.
Russell's going to find out what Aaron
finds out. Teams get
trapped. Not a lot of movement
and you've already given up draft picks in Denver
to get Russell.

I thought this was interesting.
So every time, you know, there's been a lot of Lakers speculation on what are they going to do,
you know, get rid of Westbrook, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
So one of the trades that has been very, very public actually, and I've had it sourced.
It was going to happen.
And then in the end, LeBron wanted Westbrook was go to the Pacers, give them two first round picks at 2027 and 2029 and get Miles Turner and Buddy Healed.
Heald's a shooter, very good shooter.
That's about what he is, but he's good at it.
And Miles Turner is about like 50% of Anthony Davis.
He's going to get really expensive.
He gives you about 13 a night, and he's increasingly brittle.
But he's a good front gort player.
I wouldn't mind having him, but he gives you about 60% of the Anthony Davis production.
Anyway, Miles Turner was on a podcast with Wojjj and basically just said,
hey, Lakers, make it happen.
I want to be a Laker.
you know if I'm the Lakers I take a very hard look at this with the position that you're in and I know what I can provide for a team you know my leadership my shot blocking you know my three point ability and just my ability to make plays out there on the floor and I take a very long look at it another aspect that is playing with greatness and playing under LeBron you know I feel like he demands a certain level of excellency especially at his career it's just one of those things where you know when you're out there you know you're out there you know and people aren't going to expect you to go out there and hold on to that legacy that
Lakers that built over the years. So every one of these trade discussions all get back to this.
The Lakers are very wary of giving up a 2027 first round pick and a 29 first round pick. That's
five and seven years from now. So let's take those years, that timeline and go in reverse.
So it's 22. Let's go five years back. 2017. What did the Lakers get when they had the number two
pick in the draft then. Lonzo Ball couldn't stay healthy, gone very quickly, zero impact.
Let's go seven years back. Number two pick, DeAngelo Russell, maturity issues, not here, non-factor.
And that was with the number two pick. You don't know if you're going to get a top three or four
pick. You don't know if you're going to be up there. So the Lakers are reluctant to give away
picks that at best got them in a position years ago to get Lonzo Ball and DeAngelo Russell.
Not that they were whiffs, but they were like C picks.
No, think about that.
Even if the Lakers hit on their 2027 pick,
if they hit on it, he's a good player,
he's going to come in after one year in college,
and he's going to need three years to like pop.
Even Janus took three or four years to pop.
So that means a 2027 pick would pop in 2030,
eight years from now.
and a 2029 pick would pop in year three.
Like you can count on them in a playoff game to give you 17, 18, 20.
That player would pop in 2032.
10 years from today, the Lakers, if they hit on the 2027 and 2029 picks,
would have players ready to deliver in the playoffs in 2030 and 2030.
32. What are we doing here? What are we doing here? This is Los Angeles. The Rams almost traded two more first picks for Brian Burns yesterday. Lincoln Riley. One day USC didn't have it the next day they did. OBJ, Vaughn Miller. This is a distracted city. Nobody in Los Angeles gives a rip about 2030 and 2032. If the Lakers on those two picks hit
Let's say it's top five pick and they hit the great players in this league not named LeBron.
It's not until year three because kids now are so young when they come into the league.
It's not until like year three when you really get a reliable player if he hits.
2027, 29.
That's the year you get them and cross your fingers.
They can actually play and they're not Lonzo Ball and DeAngelo Russell.
You all get LeBron's in his 20th year?
You may want to get him.
And he's still a top five player in the league.
You may want to get him help now.
I don't know.
Seems crazy.
But all the trade rumors always come down to that.
Oh, those valuable assets.
Come on, man.
Seven, nine years from now?
It's the herd.
