I will not be. I can't stand it. Instagram's a different story. And I'm joined today by Alex Curry, who's a huge deal on Instagram, obviously. Oh, stop. Does this kind of feel like it's like your last day of school? No, that would be if I got the month off.

No. And anytime like you're leaving for a trip and you're like working the same day, I'm always like, it feels like the last day of school. It's like if it's kind of equivalent to that from like when we were in school, you know? So my kids are coming to me. They're like, oh, dad, you want to play pickleball 10 a.m. tomorrow? And I'm like, I have to work. And they're like, oh, that stinks.

I was like, uh. For you. I do it all for you. Well, that's the thing. I was like, listen, enjoy your summers now. You've got like maybe seven or eight or nine or ten. of them and then you've got to be working, right? Harsh truth. Yeah. It stinks. I mean, I was working in high school. I've always worked.

In the summer? Uh-huh. Summer camps. Come on. I was a camp counselor. Well, you're making some money. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, uh, we got a great guest coming up at about eight minutes. He actually texted with Dak Prescott after Dak's photo went viral of the booted up right ankle, right foot. So we'll talk to Clarence Hill in about eight minutes. But first, I've never done this on the show. I'm not a huge fan of these tears. but, you know, the staff is like, you got some takes on these tears. I'm like, you know it.

You know I do. So I went and broke down all 32 teams. I put them in Super Bowl tiers. I have five tiers. So I guess let's roll the tears. So starting at the bottom with absolutely no shot. You got the Denver Broncos, they stink. Patriots, awful.

New York Giants, dumpster fire. Raiders, not very good. and a bit of a surprise entrant in the Arizona Cardinals, who I don't think are very good this year. The schedule is brutal, not a ton of talent. I think they're in a wait and see year where it's like, is Kyler-Marie our guy? We'll see.

But that group is absolutely no shot at anything. Next up, we've got, they need a prayer. These 17s need a prayer to get to the playoffs or Super Bowl. Starting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I'm sorry, guys. As much as I've liked Russ. Wilson, it ain't happening. The team is not very good. Schedule's daunting. No thank you. I think the bucks take a big step back, losing a great offensive coordinator in Canales. Listen, it's not a knock on

Baker. I just, I don't see it duplicating this year. The Saints are the team that irked me to no end last season, folks. I was all in on schedule, everything. I just looked at the offseason ranking for offensive lines. The Saints are 32nd, according to one report. 30 second. And we know car stinks under pressure. Saints, they're not going to be good. Vikings, Alex and I talked about him earlier. Good team, but they're going to need a prayer in that division. Washington, I'm not feeling the hype. Cowherd loves them. I don't see it. Carolina Panthers, the only team in this group, which kind of has the arrow pointing up. If you remember last month, we had on a guy Adam Chernoff, his group bet the Panthers win total over, moved it from four and a

half to five and a half. I'm telling you, Panthers are a bye team for me. And then the Tennessee Titans, they're not very good. But they got a lot of new pieces. is I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they're not in that final bottom group. Mid! That's what the young kids like to say. How's my fit today? Oh, that's mid, dad. Not great.

That's how I feel about these teams. Dolphins, they pull back a little. Falcons, like, are they that good? They're the one argument they should be up a higher. Rams, obviously, made the playoffs last year. I don't know if Stafford's going to stay healthy again. Bears on the uptick. Jags, I don't know what to make of the Jags, folks.

I can't put them in a tier higher. They're not lower. Colts is another team on the uptick. Keep an eye on the Colts. If Richardson's healthy, they are going to be in contention for a playoff spot. And then Seattle, I don't know what to do with Seattle. Wacky season. Now, the second tier, which we're calling in the mix for the Super Bowl, is lengthy.

Obviously, Buffalo, I know people are going to say, wait, Buffalo, why aren't they in the top? I think Alex and I talked about the Ravens. A lot of people have Ravens in the top. I'm just telling you, Ravens, last year, obviously a charmed season. They had home field advantage, Lamar MVP. They lost a lot of dudes. Offensive line, defensive coordinators gone. There will be a pullback from the Ravens, folks.

I'm just getting in front of it. I don't know if they're going to be like a nine-win team, but they will certainly not be the cream of the crop in the AFC. Eagles, I like, and they nearly made the top list for me. Texans, I can't go all in. I know Alex and I talked about him. I just, I can't put them in the top tier. Cowboys will see.

They've got a lot of question marks. Everybody loves the Packers. Now, the Chargers, I think, have the lowest win total of the in-the-mix crowd. But I'm just telling you, their schedule is cake. They're here based on the schedule. And keep an eye on the Browns, who I think are a little undervalued. Their offensive line, returning healthy, so beat up last year. I like the Browns.

And finally, the top tier, the favorites. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. The New York Jets! They are there, folks. No cap. 49ers obviously are there. They're the favorites.

The Chiefs are going to be in the mix, you know, to win the Super Bowl. I don't like it, but that's the reality. Detroit Lions are very good. They will be knocking on the door. And yes, the Cincinnati Bungles, who finished last place in the division last year, and you know, every year somebody goes worst to first. Now, it's a little cheesy to, you know, a team with a good record to go, worse to first, but that's what the Bengals were.

Toughest division in football. I have a lot of notes on the Jets. I'm not going to go too deep here. But I have them favored in 13 of 17 games. Pro Football Focus has their offensive line. They were 31st last year. Their fifth this year, because it got so much better. Obviously, Aaron Rogers, Achilles is everything,

but the offensive line's way better. Pass defense, number one in the NFL. A guy at ESPN said the Jets linebackers graded out. out as tied with the Niners is the best in the league. Folks, this team is stacked, ridiculously stacked, if healthy, and let's just assume health for everybody, I'm telling you, the Jets will be in the mix. We can make fun of Aaron Rogers as Egypt nonsense, but I'm on record. The Jets will be in the mix.

Favorites, one of the top five, one of the five favorites to win the Super Bowl. And Vegas, guys, kind of sort of agrees with me. All right, there it is. Our next guest, I'm sure he's going to have some opinions on it. He's probably not going to like it. Clarence Hill, he is one of the foremost members of the Dallas Cowboys Media Thong. He's been covered the Cowboys since 97. All right, Clarence, let's hear it.

You hate my Super Bowl tears. Come on. Listen, I was actually texting, so I really didn't hear your tears. What I love to respect? Your Super Bowl tears, come on, man. No, here we go. Here it is. Come on, man.

How do you got the jets up there? They're loaded. They're stacked. How do you have the Bengals up there? You don't like the Bengals? What have they done since they made the Super Bowl? Well, they were injured last year, but I think Burroughs really good. It's been two years.

It wasn't just one year, though. That's fair. That's fair. Let's go to it. I mean, we love the Bengals, but since they made the Super Bowl, what have they done? Well, they haven't really done much. They've lost some players.

They kept Jamar Chase, they kept Joe Burrow. Exactly. So you're down, are the Bengals not a playoff team or just not a Super Bowl? I'm not down with them, not a player. You said Super Bowl tiered. You're putting them in a Super Bowl. I'm just saying, what have they done since they made the Super Bowl that year? That was a bit of a shock.

Came out of nowhere and made the Super Bowl that year. I mean, listen, not a lot of guys that beat Mahomes in the postseason. Beat them on the road. Exactly. But we can't listen. on that forever. True. And I think they got the better of the Chiefs

in the regular season, too. It's just Burroughs that good. And I guess I'm betting on one of the top quarterbacks in the league. But speaking of texting, how's you, how's Jack doing? Is he, how's he holding up?

Give us the, break it all down for us. Dak is fine. I mean, I've talked to a trainer, a guy who did his rehab, certainly talked to Dak Prescott. And according to DAC to court and everybody, this is normal maintenance.

You know, I know everybody, I know everybody's thinking, oh, yeah, sure that's what they're saying, but I've been talking to Dag since he suffered the tragic fractured ankle in 2020. And he's been doing, he talks about he has to do normal maintenance. It's because this is a lifelong maintenance thing. That was a gruesome tragic injury. You go back to that game and see how his foot was turned and certainly did the surgeon and came back. He's not missed any games due to that ankle since then, but he does have maintenance.

And he said it swells up on him sometimes. And he's been precautionary. You saw him on vacation, getting ready to go on a boat. And so that's part of the normal maintenance with him. Remember, he didn't missy the game last year. He was unlike Aaron Rogers, who was somewhere, points wherever. He was at OTAs. He was at off-season.

He was at Midecamp. Did not have any issues during that. Certainly he was that tight-in-you. Again, this is normal maintenance according to them. We have to believe them at face value. He's not wearing the boot anymore. So until we see something different in training camp, that's what it is. Yeah.

Okay. All right. So it's been a tumultuous off season for Dallas. Is that fair to say? You got the piece where McCart- No question. McCarthy comes out. And we're leading it to a season on the brink.

This is a season on the brink. Season on the brink? I mean, McCarthy don't have a contract passed this year. Dak doesn't have a contract passed this year. CD doesn't have a contract passed this year. The entire coaching staffs, they're all on one-year deal. These are all, there's no net for the Cowboys following 2024. So why do you think that is?

Jerry Jones just will wait and see. Do they not believe in DAC? It doesn't make sense to have so many question marks. That just sets your team up for internal combustion, no? It doesn't make any sense. Certainly, I understand the coaching staff, coaching situation. I don't understand the quarterback. Certainly when you sign DAC four years,

years ago and remember they signed that to a deal coming off that injury. Yeah. You know, there was any questions about that it should have been then coming off that tragic injury. They signed them to a loop with the deal coming off that injury. But when they signed to that deal, they put a $59 million cap hit in the final year with the full understanding of that we're going to redo this deal before the final year. We're not going to let them go on to the final year with this cap hit.

And now here we are. They did not redo the deal. They have not redone the deal so far. I still think there's a chance that can see that he could get done in training camp. I understand the city is not coming in to camp without a deal. That's what it is. But I think both of them could get done in training camp, and then it won't be that situation.

But that's where we are right now. You know, the whole team is flying without a net going to this season, and it makes no sense. You know, you're trying to win. And Jerry talked about being all in. You know, he wanted to be all in. And now he's trying to back away from those awards. but why would you not be all in?

You have not won since 1996. You haven't been to suppose since 1996. Might be you've gone 12 and 5, 12 and 5 each the last three years. You failed in the playoffs. It's time to be all in. It's not time to manage to be good at balancing the budget. You know, everybody has a salary cap, but, you know, Cowboy fans are tired of hearing about the richest team in sports

being cap-compliant. It just feels a little odd clearance that DAC was, the, I believe, runner-up for MVP, and they've gone 12-and-5, three straight years, and it's like, oh, I don't know if I want to pay the guy. What am I missing? Yeah, 12 and 25, these last three years,

coming off his best season when he let the league and touchdown passes and certainly finished run-up MVP. That makes no sense. And, you know, again, it's a situation for the cowboy where, for whatever reason, these smart gentlemen who are, again, the richest owners in sports, you know, which is fat-outers sports, did not

see the T leaves fall. No, Jerry talked about one that see leaves falling, but they didn't see it jumping from 40 million to $60 million or whatever, $55 million, but that's what you have to pay these quarterbacks. I mean, Trevor Lawrence is getting $55 million. What does he do?

That's a little harsh, but it's fair. It's a very fair point. He hasn't accomplished anything. But then again, I could ask you, I think Dak has, what, one more playoff win than Trevor Lawrence? Yeah. And he's played a lot longer. But he also run off also run up for MVP. That's fair.

Let me ask you this. I don't know if you saw Cam Newton has a podcast and he came out and he's like, why is Dallas America's team? That's nonsense. They haven't won a Super Bowl forever. It should be the Chiefs. And I open the show kind of blasting Cam.

It's just very silly, juvenile stuff. Like, just look at the, like you said, they're one of the, I think the highest valuation of any franchise in the NFL. They always draw the biggest TV ratings. They have a nationwide audience. Like, it's the Cowboy. They play on Thanksgiving for a reason.

I don't know. What do you make of this America's team stuff? I mean, come on, stop it. Don't be a kid. You know, that's recency bias. Look, the Cowboy America team, Monica, goes back to the 70s. With Roger Starback and TechSram, and again, you know, the CBS model back when CBS did the NFC, when the Dow put on the Cowboys at 3 o'clock.

You know, this is well before the Jerry Jones. Go back to NFL today, everything. It was always the Cowboys at 3 o'clock. central time, four o'clock each of time, but that's been the case. You know, the cowboy cheerleaders, you know, and everything else, they goes along with that, you know, Roger Stobbeck, Captain America, Tony Dorset, the Cowboys and the Steelers, this predates this generation. And Jerry Jones has only added to that the way he's marketed this team.

And certainly, again, they're the richest franchise in the world for a reason, sports franchise, rich in all those soccer teams and everything else for a reason because they are America's team. It ain't fair. It ain't right. They haven't won. I understand with the chiefs and their success, but that's not about on-field success.

Yeah. It's weird. That's about eyeballs watching it. We forget, like, the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, Clarence, have had reality TV shows. The cheerleaders for the Cowboys. Listen, my sister has been calling me about that TV show daily. You know, I mean, there's so many women that are watching that show,

and this is not the first iteration of that show. They've been on, you know, the country music channel. They've been on different things. things, this is not the first direction of that show. I mean, I go back to when the Cowboy Chub was on Love Boat. Oh, that's right. Are you old enough to remember Love Boat? I, when I was sick and I stayed home from school, I would watch Love Boat with my mom, like that, you know, and I would be like, oh, you know, whatever, the Captain Stubing and company.

I like that, I like that show. But then again, I'm a little older than I look. So anyways, Clarence, let me ask you. C.D. Lamb, you said he's not coming to camp without a deal. Did he really say he wants a floor of 32 Mill? Is that real? First of all, he don't have to say that. Why does he need to say that?

It's common sense. Let's be honest about that. What does Justin Jefferson get? 35 million. Do you act like 32 million is crazy for the floor? I mean, look at the numbers. But historically, Clarence, if you're paying your quarterback 55 and a receiver 32, and then Micah Parsons is going to want his,

you're chewing up like 50% of your cap in three guys or some obscene number. It's always funny to me why we always side with the owners. No, no. That's not me. Why do we do that? I mean, DeMarcus said years ago, and when he was going through his car, but he told Stephen Jones that that's a you problem. That's not a me problem.

You decide to be an owner. You decide to be an owner. You decide to own a team. That's a you problem. It's not my job to balance your budget. I guess the counter would be... CD and DEC would be doing their fellow brethren a disservice

by taking less money. No, no. Nobody's saying take less. I think it's just how do you manage a cap and build a Super Bowl winner when you've got three guys chewing up like 40% of your cap? It hasn't been done. It's difficult to do.

So do you think the smart move would be hey, pay all these three or would you trade one, move off one, try to get a Hershal Walker-type deal, haul of picks in return for a Micah, CD? DAC, whoever. What would be your move here? So you'd rather get rid of your best players and try to win?

That's what you're telling me? You're telling me the plan is to get rid of your best players. Well, I didn't say get rid of all of them. I think trading one of them and getting draft picks and replenishing the cupboard, I think makes a lot of sense. I would move off Michael Parsons. See, now you're hating. You're doing the Michael Parsons. You're doing the Michael Podcast.

You're devaluing a guy who's been three years in the league, who's not yet hit his prime. Fair. Who's been in the top three of defensive player, he's balancing all three years. First two years, he was second, last year, he was third. You know, one of the premier pass rushes in the league. No one gets double team more than Michael Parsons. I say get him some help. Don't get rid of him.

I like that. Well, it's funny because we looked at his numbers. Regular season, Juggernaut. In the playoffs, four playoff games, he has like four quarterback hits. in one sack. Maybe they're double teaming him, but he's been invisible in the playoffs. I mean, he's been on a milk cart in some of these games.

Listen, that's a cowboy problem. I've been covering this team since 1997, okay? Four playoff wins. Four playoff wins. That's an organizational cowboy problem. We can talk about Dax's playoff numbers. We talk about Michael's playoff numbers. CD didn't have a great playoff game last year.

I go back to two years ago. Trevon Diggs had a great effort against San Francisco. Yes, the Cowboys as an organization, the Cowboys players individually, they have to find a way to show up when it matters most. Play their best football in the playoffs, in the biggest game. There's no question about that, but the solution is not getting rid of your best player. So you would, what would you do to improve the roster? Because I don't know, I mean, Clarence, I didn't have them in my Super Bowl favorites group.

Do you have them in yours? I mean, they're a playoff team. It's like with anything. We got, they get to the playoffs and then we just pop luck. We got to see what we're going to get. There's no question. I can't project them in the Super Bowl because I haven't seen them at the Super Bowl again. I haven't seen the Cowboys team in the Super Bowl since 1996.

So I'm not going to project it. I've never projected that. Okay. But they are a contender. They will be in the mix. Again, they have to find the way to show up. When you say about paying all these players, tell me about all the people that the Eagles are paying.

They're paying a lot of people. Yeah, they got the Jalen Hurst. It seems like the smart move, according to all the cats. Apologist is when your quarterback's up for a deal, you pay them early because the market's going to keep resetting, keep resetting. And it's almost as if Jerry has missed multiple windows. And now it's Trevor Lawrence is at 55. Why didn't Jerry pay, Dak, I don't know, six months ago before all these guys got their new deals? Dak has a great agent.

He better than the genius businessman billionaire owner of the Cowboys? And they have a great. And the Cowboys have this mentality. We're not going to set the market. Stephen John, we're not going to set the market. Why not? Every time you do deals with Pepsi and whoever else you set in the market, you set the market when the money's coming to you,

but you don't want to set the market when the money's going out. That makes no sense. Yeah, none. All right, we can wrap up with, you know, I don't want to get too granular here, but Clarence, but this running back situation has really gone south the last couple years since, you know, Pollard's injury did not look the same last year. Now, Zeke Elliott, is he the guy?

I don't know, man. Dak, when he's had good running backs, has thrived. What's the running back situation in Dallas? Is that a cause for concern when you break down the team in the preseason? No, it's not a cause of concern. I think that there will be a better running team because the offensive line will be better than it was last year. And again, this is the passing league. This game will be decided this team.

There will be a win because of the DAC and CD. Jack Ferguson is a rising tight-in. And this is a past league, but they will run better than they did last year. Tony Pollard was not himself, as he was two years ago, but they were running better because the office line would be better. They also be better closer to the goal line because you can say what you want about Zeeke. He has a nose for the end zone, and they did not have a lot of rushing touchdowns last year. Now, they are missing the big play out of the back field. I think that it's still something that can be addressed in training camp and follow training cap,

trying to follow the final cuts. but the offensive line they drafted Cooper Bibi who made me to steal of the draft out of Kansas State he will be an upgrade of center and he's a nasty mofo

can I say that you can let the Xploads fly nasty big and nasty and they will be better at blocking your front Zach Martin

perennial Pro Bowl guard did not have his best year last year because he held out he would be better Tyler Smith is the best Smith is the best maybe the best blocking guard in the league. They will be able to block for the run. You will get some good yards there.

Obviously, you're not going to have a rushing champ like, yeah, it was Zeeke back in his prime. It will be a running back committee. But I'm not as much worried about the runner game as I am the defense stopping the run. Stopping the run is their issue. It's been their issue. They don't have any premier defensive tackles on this team, and you can't really stop. to run if you're not strong up to middle. Yeah, I guess Claren't I'll ask final question.

So of McCarthy, DAC, CD, and Micah, who or how many of them get contracts before the season starts? I think Micah gets done next off season. Okay. Because he's, you know, he's just going to the fourth year. Yep. I certainly believe CD's going to get done. I believe there's no way you can do CD without doing that. You know, you cannot commit the type of money.

You're going to commit the CD in, expect to get a return on your investment without knowing who your quarterback's going to be. You know, you can't, you know, go, that's going to pay CD and not know who you're going quarterback's going to be in 2025. So you have to get DAC and CD done. And then I guess that means nothing for McCarthy, huh? Well, McCarthy's about winning. You know, there's no question.

McCarthy's done a great time. I don't think he's enough credit for having this team go 12 and 5, 12 and 5, 12 and 5. That missed five games one year. They went four and one with a back of the quarterback. And then all these, we had a horrible schedule. Everybody plays the same schedule. They don't set their own schedule. To go 12 and 5, 12 and 5, 12 and 5, and 3 straight seasons.

Certainly they have not gotten it done in the postseason. There's no question about that. But you have to give him a credit for having them consistent and having them in the playoffs and manage his team. They've got to find a way to win in the playoffs. That's the goal. He was not brought here to get to the playoffs like Jason Garrett. He was here to take them back to the Super Bowl.

No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the herd line news.

Well, Jay MacLamard Jackson has established himself as a fantastic dual threat, quarterback putting up incredible numbers in both passing and rushing stats. And Cam Newton was another great dual threat quarterback when he was in the league, but he doesn't put himself at number one all time. He said he thinks Lamar is the best one in league history. And I think that's fair, right? Lamar is a two-time MVP. Cam has one MVP, but he also has a Super Bowl appearance.

And as we were talking about yesterday, I think this is the one thing holding Lamar Jackson back from greatness is his postseason success. We need to see him go deep in the postseason. We kind of broke this down yesterday, but when you look at Lamar's career numbers in the regular season compared to the postseason, there's a big difference. Obviously, a bigger sample size in the regular season,

but two and four in the playoffs, and then with your touchdown interception, 6 and 6, and then the passer rating, taking a big drop from 98 in the regular season to 75.7 in the postseason. And last year, it felt like it was finally his time to take down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who were having an off year. I think everybody bet on Lamar Jackson and the Ravens at home to beat the Chiefs,

and it didn't happen. And it solidified the Chief's dynasty this year. So I, he just needs postseason success to kind of get over that next hump. But he is. He is the most dynamic and impressive dual threat we've seen at quarterback. Yeah, I don't think there's any question, really? No. Who's even a close second?

And it's not Cam. No. Yeah, Cam was not. Cam was really, really good. But same deal with him. Postseason success is going to hinder him from getting in the Hall of Fame. He did get to a Super Bowl. And he has an MVP.

Total disaster in the Super Bowl wouldn't fall on the fumble, then afterward wouldn't talk to the media. Like, you know, I know we'd bash Dak Prescott and all these guys. Cam never had back-to-back winning seasons as a starting quarterback. It was just like he was hot and cold. Very good player, obviously. amazing college player, but like, I don't know, Lamar best dual threat player. He's just got to win in the playoffs. He does.

Who's the best? It's the missing piece of his already, like, young but great career that he's had. Yeah, I guess my question will be, is there a dual threat quarterback who technically won a Super Bowl? Steve Young? Like, I don't think Patrick Mahomes is a dual threat. Like, he has the threat of running. He can run? But he also, like, he says he doesn't want to.

He doesn't want it. But he does when he needs to win the postseason. And then that's why we see him do what needs to be done and get to a Super Bowl. And he'll do it in the Super Bowl. Yeah. Yeah. That's a smart thing. Like, I'll run when I need to.

I don't want to be run first. Like, Lamar sometimes can be run first. Definitely. It's like, we know he can win from the pocket. He's a great passer. Yeah, surprisingly, a lukewarm take from Cam Newton. That's not even not hot of a take. You have fighting words for Cam Newton today.

No, it's a lukewarm take. Sometimes I have, you know, lukewarm take. For fire. For fire. You're feisty with Cam Newton today. All right, let's move on to the Bengals because their roster will look a little different next season. Burrow, Chasin, Higgins are all coming back,

but they lost running back Joe Mixen and receiver Tyler Boyd. Now, they did bring in running back, Zach Moss and tied in, Mike Izzyzke's and fill some holes. And Burrow is looking forward to how this offense will run. He said that he thinks they'll be able to do a lot with their personnel groupings and putting guys in different spots. So I think the important things they still have, their top two receivers in Jamar Chase and T. Higgins,

but the key to the season is going to be a healthy Joe Burrow. Because even coming in to last year, when he got his big contract, he was dealing with the calf injury during training camp that he played with kind of through the start of season. He tweaked it a little bit and had the setback with any of the major wrist injury that ended his season. So Joe Burrow is the key to the Bengals success. You had them in your top tier for Super Bowls.

And he's the only person that we have seen that's still in the league, take down Patrick Mahomes in the postseason. Tom Brady was the other one. He's obviously out. But, yeah, it was Joe Burrow in the 2021 season, AFC Championship to get to the Super Bowl to take down Patrick Mahomes. And I just looked it up. So the year after they lost the Super Bowl,

because Clarenceil was asking about it, oh, what has Burrough done since then? Well, they went to the AFC championship game and lost in Kansas City, 23 to 20. So, like, and that was not like a blowout by any strike. and the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. So they then lost the Super Bowl to the eventual champs in 21, the Rams. Then the next year they lost to the eventual champs, the Chiefs.

And then Burrow was hurt and they missed the playoffs. So like, I don't see whether Bengals shouldn't be in there. It all comes down to a healthy Joe Burrow. Because he is that guy when he's healthy. But last year, even coming in from the get-go, he was injured in training camp. So if you're starting the season injured for already grueling season, Like it's as we saw, he got nicked again, and then he had a major injury. Bangle's fans don't like it, but Glass Joe is a decent moniker for Joe Burr?

He just got to be healthy. You woke up and you chose fighting words today, Jayhack. He's always heard. Well, not always, but Austin. He's barely been in the league, and I think he's had a couple major injuries, the appendectomy. Like, I know that's not an injury, but it just seems like it's always something. If he's healthy, guys elite and they're in the Super Bowl mix every year. Oh, man, J-Mac.

Yeah, exactly. healthy, but like, show's fighting today. Love it. All right, let's go to the NBA where Buddy Heald is joining the Warriors following a sign-and-trade deal with the 76ers. He will reportedly sign a multi-year deal with two years, $21 million guaranteed. Heald has been one of the top three-point shooters in the last five seasons, and will be tapped to fill the hole left by the departure of Clay Thompson. Now, he's a strong shooter. He's a 40% career three-point shooter, which plays into the Warriors game.

and he is the most three-pointers made in the last five seasons just above Steph Curry. Oh, because Curry missed like a full season. And it's okay. Wow, that's a stat. That's a great one. This is the Warriors game. And again, he's led the league in three-pointers the last five seasons.

Jason Tatum on that list. Look at that. Yeah. Not bad. But some Warriors fans have already started calling him and Curry the Splash buddies which like no guys

it's good yeah I guess for buddy healed but like when you have such an iconic nickname for a team you got to like completely rebrand

you can't go from Splash Brothers to splash buddies buddies you don't like that buddies is fun so basically you lose Clay Thompson and you replace him with Buddy Heald

and D. Anthony Melton yeah are those two guys combined better than what Clay was last year And that's an interesting question. I had a Warriors buddy trying to sell me like, listen, those two combined plus Kyle Anderson, who's okay. I know he can't shoot, but Chris Paul's always hurt.

Like, is there a world where they really didn't lose that much? I know the name Chris Paul and the name Clay is like, oh, they lost huge. But if you look at the numbers, like, Buddy Healed, I didn't realize that stuff. Yeah. He doesn't play any defense, but he's a bit of a chucker. Remember, wasn't it against the Knicks? Is that it? No, that's not the highlight.

But against the Knicks, they, like, dusted him off because Nurse wants guys who play D. He don't play a lot of D. So then he finally comes in late in the series. It was like, holy cow, where's this flamethrower bid? Yeah, this is the game. Yeah. But he just couldn't miss. I think he had like six threes.

So he can fill it up. This doesn't play any D. And remember when you're playing with other great players, like a Steph Curry, it's almost going to elevate your game. There's like the effect, the Tom Brady effect, the Steph Curry effect, the LeBron effect. When players come in to greatness, you want to level up and be on their level. And as we're seeing here with the stat, I mean, Hamon Curry are one and two for most three-pointers made in the last five seasons.

So, and even to get self-reflective, if that's a thing, self-reflective. So, you know, one year you're on, like, you know, back of the day, a media rising stars list. And then the next year, the list comes out and you're not on it. And you're like, the stupid list. Who made this garbage? And then you realize, like, oh, I made it last year, but I'm not this year. That's stupid. Why do I even care?

Which brings me to Kevin Durant and his guy, Rich Kleinman, his business partner, their boys. So I made my list yesterday of the top 10 players in the NBA. And you'll see Kevin Durant not on the top 10. And I know that's sacrilegious, obviously. But I'll point out, in one of the morning meeting, I had Durant at 10 and I had him beat off. I know he only played 39 games.

Jason, why has him beat on there? when you look at what he did accomplish in 39 games and the playoffs, and he was pretty freaking awesome. KD, I move KD out. I put him beat in. So then we go post it on social. Wes, the social guy puts it on Instagram. And wouldn't you know, KD's business partner chimes in that the list is gross,

okay, because his guy's not on there. And then I proceed to ask, well, okay, like, who should I remove to put KD in? He goes, oh, no, it's your list. You do that. But to not have KD on there, that's just dumb. I was like, all right. And Kevin Durant's in a weird place right now, guys. Not the first time that's been said.

He's kind of on this island unto himself, but the island has like this massive antenna that picks up everything. Anything that's on social media, Kevin Durant and this guy see it. They do. It's like they're crawling, grabbing anything Durant-related and being like, should we respond to this? Is this fair?

And it's just a weird place to be for a guy, who's one of the all-time greats. We can say in the same sentence, Kevin Durant is a top 20 player in the history of basketball, but right now he's not a top 10 player in the league. And how is that? Well, he's fallen off a cliff since the injury.

And I don't want to keep coming back to this, but KD, you know, I happen to watch Anchorman yesterday. It was on TV or two days ago. And my kids were around, and I obviously had to mute some stuff. But when Ron Burgundy reads, prompter and says what he says, you know, that guy comes on. He's like, why, Ron? Why? Why did you say

that? Why did you say bleep you, San Diego, you know? And I just ask like, Katie, why did you leave Golden State? Like, why? And we asked earlier, you know, Sam A, McKee, he had a good answer, and I believe it. You know, it makes sense. I get it. You're going to do what you want to do. You're a wander. That's fine. But why did you leave? You're on top of the world, literally. Two-time finals MVP. Best player in the league. and it's been all downhill since. The guy has two playoff series wins. I'm pretty sure since leaving.

That's the same amount of times he's left places, right? He's now in Phoenix, and there was a report last week. Hey, Kevin Durant Rockets, keep an eye on it. I just, I don't know, guys. I looked at the numbers, Embed has him. Embed's a better passer at this stage in his career. KD., I know, you know, he's getting up there, and he's 36 in September.

number. That guy's still one of the most lethal shooters in the league, but go look at his numbers across the board. They're down from five years ago. And I know he's getting up there. But like, I feel like Embed makes his teammates better than KD does. And maybe I can't get the recency bias of KD getting swept and Anthony Edwards talking trash to him and KD being powerless to stop AD or to stop Anthony Edwards and the

Timberwolves. Like, that's kind of embarrassing. They were also, by the way, in Brooklyn, swept by the Celtics. Like it just has not been pretty for Kevin Durant since leaving Golden State. And it's kind of sad state of affairs. But I don't want to go too hard on KD. So let's pivot to Caitlin Clark. And folks, you know, sometimes you'll come across numbers in sports that are just kind of mind-blowing.

And this week, the WNBA announced the All-Star votes. And I think I told this story. I definitely told it on my podcast that for the first time in my life, I voted for the WNBA All-Stars. Like a pop-up game or something. and I always X them out, but then I was like, oh, WNBA, All-Stars, I'll vote, right? So you fire off the votes. I'd never done that in my life, okay? So then the All-Star Vote Talley's came out, and what you're about to see, I believe,

are the craziest numbers in sports that I've seen this year. Look at the All-Star voting last year versus this year. The number one vote getter, Wilson from the Aces, got 96,000 votes. Number one vote getter. The number one vote getter this year, Caitlin Clark, got 701,000 votes. My mind is struggling to comprehend. That's how many more people voted this year than last year. Now, the voting's funny.

Obviously, Boston, who I don't even think is that good on the fever, the second highest votes this year, 619,000. I'm going to remind you, nobody cracked 100,000 last year. Nobody in the league. This year, a ton of people did. All because of take a guess, Caitlin Clark. Okay? Listen, I know Angel Reese is having a great year, and she's double doubles galore,

and she's an all-star as well. You see she made the list. I'm sorry, she didn't drive a 5, 6, 7X improvement in all-star vote getting. That wasn't Angel Reese. That's the Caitlin Clark effect. This really is a Beyonce effect. This is a Taylor Swift effect. And it's funny, I floated this in the staff meeting.

earlier this week. I was like, it's interesting. Remember earlier this season there was all this drama around Caitlin Clark, cheap shots, clothes lines, negative jabs in the media,

people going on social media. That's all kind of stopped, hasn't it? Huh? Have you noticed the last couple weeks? Crickets? What's going on there? Now, you know,

conspiracy theory, Jason, let me get by tinfoil hat out from under the desk. Huh? Wonder if the league saw the all-star votes coming in and was like, yo, we need to let the teams know. fall back on the Caitlin Clark stuff.

You guys can diminish and poo-poo the ratings. By the way, Caitlin Clark played, I believe it was in Vegas this week, and the audience was 20,000 in the arena. Largest attendance for a WNBA game in 20 years. Like, hey guys, WNBA players, I know you're upset. You've been a star for five years.

Guess what? Nobody cared. Sorry. Diana Tarasi, you got an amazing history. Amazing. You're a basketball icon. First battle of heart. of Fame or all that stuff.

People just didn't care when you were doing it. They care now. They're paying attention now because of Caitlin Clark. And this is not to diminish what the other people accomplished. The other people, you guys accomplished awesome stuff. It just did not draw people in the way Clark is. So I wonder if the league let teams know, hey, guys, the numbers don't lie. You can pretend, oh, the ratings, you know, blah, blah, blah, and the packed arenas and all this stuff.

You guys can look at the All-Star numbers. Okay. They're undeniable. I mean, Breonna Stewart could deliver a pizza to the studio. I probably wouldn't know who she is. But look at the number of votes she got. She went from 88,000 to 424,000. This is mind-blowing stuff. And I know there's a lot of people, oh, Jason, why are you calling it about Caitlin Clark?

They're not even top eight in the WNBA. Yeah, and they had three people voted to the All-Star team the most of any team in the league. Okay? So just miss me with the whole Taylor Clark's over. Just stop. You just sound dumb and uneducated, and you don't want to pay attention to the numbers in reality.
