It's interesting when you get to weeks 5, 6, and 7 in the NFL. A lot of injuries. So this week on the picks, you and I are just sitting pouring over injury reports. There's one game I love that we both talked about. I think you like them. And I just looked at the injury report, and there are two starting quarterbacks aren't practicing. I'm like, whoa, going on the road? Seattle, excuse me.

I'm feeling pretty good. Okay. All right, off a winning week, let's not waste any time. the Blazing Five. That's a hot one. Let's blaze it up. Fire it up. It's Collins, Blazing Five. Patriots versus Jaguars. Favorites win in London.

Jaguars, second straight week, staying in London. Trevor Lawrence's last three games, he's been good. 101 passer rating, 68% completion percentage. The Patriots are a mess. They're projected to start their seventh different offensive line. Ramon Dre Stevenson may not play their star back. Their 31st ranked in scoring, worst ranked offensive line in the league. Turnovers are coming aplenty. This team is falling apart. Jacksonville's coaching staff is

desperate for a win. Massive advantage at quarterback Jacksonville. Favorites do well. Overseas, especially favorites who have played there before. Jags win and cover 27 to 20. at Vikings. Okay, Vikings, offensive coach, off a bye, rested. I like Minnesota lay the one and a half. They're 3 and O at home, only team to cover every game,

but their defense has been equally impressive. They've held opponents under 20 points in four or five games. They're the only team to not allow a touchdown outside of the red zone. This is Brian Flores. You get nothing cheap. It's

very New England Patriots in their prime. Nothing cheap. Yes, the Lions are on a three-game winning streak, but they face three of the worst defenses or most banged-up defenses in Seattle, the Cowboys, and the Cardinals. Take a deep breath. Aidan Hutchison not playing. Carlton Davis, their corner hasn't practiced this week. So the pass rush significantly less. A top corner is out. Minnesota up a by this season. They are first in a lot of categories. I don't consider it an upset. Vikings win

sees control of the division 28 to 24. Seahawks at Falcons. The Seahawks defense is now officially healthy. Byron Murphy, the great defensive tackle from Texas, will play. Boyd,

Mafi, will play. So their defense, they got a banged-up corner, one practice, one didn't. But their three-game losing streak has come against teams like the Lions and the Niners. Okay, they're a good team potentially. Remember, their offense has the highest passing rate in the league.

Can they throw against Atlanta? Of course they can, because Atlanta has no pass rush. The Falcons are on pace to have the lowest sack rate, second lowest sack rate in league history. So Seattle's defensive front, Mike McDonald has all the bigs up front defensively. Gino Smith will have time to throw. And I'm getting three points. Remember, I like Atlanta. I do.

But if you look at them, a couple of their wins have been over the Saints. They're dead. And the Panthers, worse. I think the value is on a healthier Seattle team on the road here. Seahawks upset the Falcons 27 to 24. Raiders and Rams. So I locked in this line on Monday. This was my best pick.

It was Rams minus 5. I said Monday on this show. I'm taking this to Blazing 5. I said it five times. I don't care what the number is now. It is five. They're getting Cooper Cup. Rob Havenstein, the right tackle.

A Jordan Whittingham at wide receiver. They're getting healthier. And Stafford's been very good at home in four or five home games. This year, he's been 100 plus passer rated. Kieran Williams, eight straight games rushing, touchdown. So I like the Rams when they get healthy offensively. The Raiders only win. Okay, they've lost three or four games.

The only one in that stretch is the Browns. Aiden O'Connell, no scrambles, 440 dropbacks and totally a mobile quarterback with a 62% completion percentage. They can't defend the run. They are all banged up across the board, and now Devante Adams is gone. Rams win, pull away in the second half. 24 to 14. I'm taking five. I announced it.

I declared it on Monday. Jet Set Steelers. Okay, this was another game I liked early in the week. week, we waited on the line. I'm going to take the Jets minus one and a half. First of all, they should have beaten Buffalo. They're the best two and four team in the league. They had a season high in motion in their offense when they replaced Nat Hackett. So they looked like a modern progressive offense. First game now with Devonte Adams, he'll probably have some red zone opportunities. Their defense is great. Their past defense is sensational. They have the

best corner combo in the league against the team offensively that struggles. Pittsburgh's lost two with three games. Their only win recently was Aiden O'Connell. You know, the Purdue kid doesn't move. Pocket guy sitting duck against the Jets pass rush. They can't run the ball effectively. The passing offense is the Pits. I

think it's an inspired Jets team getting Devonte Adams, which increases and improves Aaron Rogers mood. I think they should have beaten Buffalo. But not for Taylor Rap, and Teron Johnson making the interception of the year. They beat Buffalo. If they had a field goal kicker who could make kicks, they beat a very good Buffalo

team. You're getting major value here with an offense in Pittsburgh that doesn't know what they're doing. Jets win 27 to 20. Lay the points. So that's four favorites. You know, let's see. Four favorites. Yeah, four favorites in the Seahawks.

Last week, I went favorites as well. I think in most of these games, I'm taking at least decent quarterback play and value. I know in the Seahawks game, you're worried. But Atlanta, as one of those teams, sometimes you have a winning record

and you're not as good as your record. Sometimes the Jets, you have a losing record, you're much better than your record. The Jets feel 4 and 2. The Steelers feel 2 and 4, and I only have to lay a point in a half, and I get Aaron Rogers over whoever they play at quarterback.

Thoughts? Yeah, that Vikings game is start, I've liked them all week. It's starting to scare me. Aaron Jones, if he can't go, Colin, that offense is so limited without Aaron Jones. They did nothing against the Jets in the second half in London

without Aaron Jones. Nothing. Jets got back in that game. Well, the Jets' defense is much better than the Lions' defense without Aidan Hutchison. So what happens is they'll throw more.

Hmm. Again, the Jets' corners and the Lions' corners. That's a totally different story. So the Jets' second half, because Jets' corners are the best in the league, the Jets are allowed to do things

and take risks that other teams like the Lions, as much as I like them, but didn't it always feel like Aiden Hutchison was the beginning and the end of the defense? They didn't have to get it. I mean, if Aden would, it's like taking T.J. Watt out of the Steelers. If you take Nick Bosa out of the Niners, I still get Fred Warner.

You know, I still get some defensive lineman. I get something. But when you take Aden out of the Lions, they've struggled in the back end, Carlton Davis. They've struggled. He's banged up too. Yeah, so they don't have their second best corner and their best pass rusher.

So that's different. I don't hate these. I'm glad you're rooting for the Jets. Then we can have some fun chats on Sunday. Yeah. Routing for the Jets, yeah. Yeah. Okay.

So, you know, I love my college football. Texas in Austin, all the stars are in town hosting Georgia. So there are moments in sports franchises and for individuals. There are moments that you have to capture in order to be the king. last year Texas beat Bama and they looked much bigger, stronger, and faster than Bama and now it's Georgia. Bama and Georgia have mostly controlled college football for a decade.

MJ for years couldn't beat the Celtics or the Pistons. Then he could, and he was king. The Red Sox for years could not beat the Yankees. 2004 they did. Now they've got four. Yeah. I mean, now, I will say, the Red Sox, money-wise, aren't the same team as the Yankees now. But in that stretch, when the Yankees and the Red Sox, they had to get past them.

This is a you got to get past them. You're at home. You have the better team. And I think to beat, to be the king, you've got to beat the Kings. And Bammon, Georgia, heavily dominated this sport. And everything matches up. Georgia's O-line is just not very good. The Texas O-line, you've got three NFL starters.

And I think it's a defensive coach Kirby Smart against arguably the smartest offensive coach in the college game right now in Steve Sarkesian. So this is a real moment in time for the Texas Longhorns. I like him in this spot. Listen, what we found out, Georgia got destroyed by Bam in the first half, then Kim roaring back. If Georgia gets down, this Texas defense is better than that Alabama defense. Georgia can ill afford to get down by a couple of scores because the pass rushers at Texas and the defense overall is just better with the horns than it is Alabama. Joel Klatte earlier this week on why Texas and the Longhorns are on top. What's becoming more important than talent acquisition, talent retention.

Getting your current players to stay in your program delivers continuity and experience. And all of that continuity and experience allows you to perform at your. best in the biggest moments. And that's what we're seeing from Texas. They are owning the game, really, in the tempo of the game. And in large part, they have been able to protect their defense as well, which allows them to be the number one scoring offense in the country and the number one scoring defense in the country. So they're a complete team. And they're at home, but Georgia's a live dog. They got five-star guys and NFL guys all over the team. But I do think the O-line for Texas is so good, and the O-line for Georgia is so average, that's the difference in the game.

Texas will be able to extend drives, keep Carson back off the field, and those dangerous skill players for the Bulldogs, I think over time, I think it'll look close for a while, but over time, you saw him do this against Oklahoma. They have no, the Sooners have no offense. Georgia's got a first, second round NFL quarterback. It'll be a competitive looking game, but it'll look, I think, a little bit like Bama last you're just going to see a bigger, stronger team, wear a team down. You don't see that in the NFL. Everybody's big.

But in college sometimes, even among the big boys, like you watch the big boys play and you're like, oh, those are the bigger boys of the big boys. Like Ohio State has more five-star guys than Oregon. They pass the eye test. Oregon's at home. They win. If they played again in a neutral field, Ohio State looks bigger and stronger and faster than Oregon.

And Oregon's one of the big boys. Oregon's top five. So I think when you watch this game and you watch the size, and the power of that Texas O line, that's the difference. Emmanuel Sanders, former Bronco, around the corner. He used to be a teammate of Josh Allen. How will the Amari Cooper situation work? He knows very well the wide receiver position.

Devante Adams and the Jets. What's that going to look like? How long is it going to take to get that puppy revved up? One more herd? He's Emmanuel Sanders, a regular on our show, a two-time Pro Bowl receiver. Over a decade in the league and a Super Bowl champ with those Broncos. goes not long ago. So you played under Sean in New Orleans. He's outspoken. He's raw. He doesn't suffer fools gladly. He's intense. But I'll tell you, Denver with their cap situation, Emmanuel,

this year and next is a bit of a mess. And he's, he looks like he's squeezing everything out of the orange he can. What's his secret when you played for him? If I didn't ever watch Sean, what's his secret? I mean, for me, Sean's a winner. You know, when I went to in New Orleans. Obviously, we had Drew over there, but I mean, every single game was like Sean was a head of the defensive coordinator. I mean, he's as smart as they come. He's seen a lot of football. And he knows how to get his players to play. He brings the best out of his players. I remember when I was in New Orleans, that was during COVID. I mean, we had myself was out, Mike Thomas was out. We had so many guys that were out. But yet, they were still going and still winning. And it's

just a testament to Sean and his coaching and how he gets guys to play. I mean, right now, you see what he's doing with a rookie quarterback. Yeah. I mean, he has Bo Knicks playing well. I mean, well enough to win games. And, I mean, he's doing it. And I'm excited. You know, when we picked up, Sean, you know,

still living out here and different. When we picked him up, I was ecstatic about it because I knew that we now had a coach who could go into the AFC West versus Andy Reed. And we got heartball in the AFC West, and we're going to be able to compete. And I hope we do. Yeah. Vegas had him at five wins, and they're already at four. So I'm happy for my friend, Sean Payton.

You also were a teammate of Josh Allen about four years ago. So they add Amari Cooper. And what I like about this is, I think Buffalo is a good organization. He is a smart veteran who runs good routes. I don't think they need an over-the-top guy. What they need here is nine targets and six catches and good on third down. Your takeaway on what Amari Cooper provides as a veteran receiver for Josh. Yeah, I think this is a great pickup.

You know, Marry, the past two years I've had a thousand yards season with the Browns. I mean, five-time pro-goller. If you go back, he watched the Jets game. You see when the Jets played man to man, it was kind of hard for guys to create separation. So you bring in a guy, Mari, I still remember with the Cowboys and how he run his route. So I think he's similar to a guy of like Devante Adams. If you come up and press me, you better have your mind right to come up and press me. I'm going to give you some sauce that you probably can't handle.

Yeah. You know, and to have a guy like that in the locker room is just awesome for Josh, who he knows. If you want to play us man to man, I know I can go to this guy, but not only that, they got a young receiver core over there in Buffalo. So to bring somebody in and has some success, been to the Pro Bowl, had 1,000-yard season, somebody for those young guys to look at and be like, okay, this is how you're supposed to do it, and this is how you're supposed to do it, and this is how you become a veteran and a professional. So I think it was a great pickup for sure for Buffalo. Now, how much can we expect? Because Aaron, unlike Amari and Josh, Aaron and Devante have played together. They got the back shoulder timing down. How many practices?

How many games do you need before you believe Devante is a real weapon for the Jets? I think it's going to be ASAP because at the end of the day, Devonty is a route runner. And not only that, he's a guy who can create separation. And in the National Football League, the difference to high school and the National Football League of separation, the margin might be this big in high school, but in the National Football League, it's this big. But the problem with a guy like Devonthe is, is this going to be this big? And then you've got a quarterback like Aaron Rogers who's going to put the ball there. So I think it's going to be all predicated on the play calling, honestly, in terms of what routes he's comfortable with and putting him in those positions for him to succeed.

but I think that he's going to have instant success. Now, the problem is they're playing against the Steelers, and that defense is stout. So it's going to be interesting, but I'm actually looking forward to see it to see if they can still have that same chemistry that they had in Green Bay, because it would be awesome to see.

Speaking of the Steelers, Mike Tomlin, obviously, drafting, developing defense, it's what the Steelers do. But, you know, Big Ben leaves Pittsburgh, Brady leaves New England, and those defensive cultures, they're lost at sea. They're trying. It's Trubisky, Mason Rudolph, Russell Wilson, Justin Fields. I mean, they're trying.

They're bailing water. Do you like Justin's 4 and 2, and they're replacing him? Now, he may not be all this, but do you like that mover would just stick with the kid? You know, and playing for the Steelers and playing under Mike Tomlin. And I remember when Justin Fields came up here, I went to the game when they played against the Bronco. And I remember talking to several guys on the staff and telling how much I love Justin Fields and how he plays and how he can extend plays with his legs. And not only that, like just how he plays. Like I'm a fan of how Justin Fields plays.

But when I think about Mike Tomlin and what he's built on, he's built on leadership. And there's not a coach that I can remember who had more leadership than Mike Tomlin in the way that he led. when I think about that situation, I think what is the reason behind, you know, even a battle with Russell Wilson and coming and replaced Justin Fields? And, you know, for some reason, I kept going back to leadership. Now, I know Russell, and Russell is the ultimate leader as well. He's going to get those guys going from that standpoint. So it would be interesting to see how that situation plays out.

But also, I know Mike Townland wants to win a Super Bowl. So sometimes I sit back and say, who gives the Steelers a better chance at winning a Super Bowl as well because they have a top ranked defense. Now they need a signal caller who's probably been there before, done that before, probably won't panic in those situations. And I kind of lean more towards Russell Wilson, but towards the future of the Steelers, now I lean more towards Justin Fields. So, I mean, it's an interesting situation. But I think Mike Tomlin, when me and Antonio Brown was there, he says I got two dogs and one bone. I got two dogs and one bowing and it's crazy how it's interesting how he's in that same situation in terms of he got two he got two dogs but he only got one ball in one starting spot so he's trying

to figure out who fits that position best for this year's team and I think that he's going to do what he has to do in order to figure it out in order to try to win a Super Bowl not just win or have a winning season to try to put out the best Super Bowl team so Troy Aikman was highly critical of C.D. Lamb and the entire Dallas receiving corps, let's listen to this sound. I think the routes are terrible. I think they run terrible routes, and I've thought that beyond this year,

and I think CED's got to improve in his route running. And as a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys are going to be consistently, it's hard to play the position. I see guys lazy coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually if they do, it's because they're anticipating they're going to get the football in that play. But if they're not, they don't. And it all ties together. And so I'm not impressed with that part of it.

So who's to blame? Now, I mean, listen, there's a reason. I get it. It's a long season. Guys can have bad practices. But when you get to Sunday, you've got to tighten up the screws. If you're running bad routes, knowing it's going to be on the film session on Monday, isn't that a McCarthy issue, the head coach issue? Yeah, you know, when I listen to Troy Words, he said, he said, guys are being lazy.

But the only time I see them really running hard is when they're getting the ball. Yeah. And, you know, I've had, I've been blessed to play on three Super Bowl teams, and I remember playing with Peyton. And Peyton was huge on, if you're not getting the ball, still running the route full speed just because you don't want to give anything away. Or you never know, I might come to you because you might be the second read. So if that's what Troy is seeing, then that's just absolutely laziness. And it goes the same thing in the run game. And when I look at this Cowboys team, I mean, they got to get their run game together as well.

It all ties in. It all ties in together. So if guys are being lazy and not running off the ball because they're not getting the ball, I'm pretty sure that they're probably not blocking in the run game as well. And so that's a mindset from the head coach 100%. And when I look at this Cowboys team, I feel like everybody's kind of. in a panic mode, but they're three and three right now. They have a buy, and then they have the Niners.

But I think that that's just an attitude adjustment that has to be said throughout the team in terms of let's get our damn minds together and let's go out and play some real football and let's not be lazy and let's go hard every single play. I mean, when I approached the game, I had 80 plays. I said all of those 80 plays, I'm going to do it full speed balls to the wall, and that's just how I'm going to play the game. So I think it's an attitude adjustment that they have to make, within the Cowboys organization, if they want to get where they want to be.

I think it's interesting you mentioned that. If guys are lazy on their routes, as you said Emmanuel, they're probably not blocking on the run. So what I mean, the routes is for them. The running's a sacrifice. So that's a real issue. And that's why they can't run the football. Finally, you played under Kyle Shanahan. He has struggled with Andy Reid.

Many believe that Kyle's got the better players. But, you know, Andy Reid, Mahomes figure this out. I kind of like, even though the chiefs are on a buy, I kind of like San Francisco this weekend. Do you believe as much as they've won that that Kansas City stuff hangs over their head? You were in this culture for a year, or do you think it's just every game's different? Or could you kind of sense Kansas City is different? Look, I mean, I've been retired for two years, and I still have feelings towards Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs just because they beat us in the Super Bowl. So I know that Kyle's still thinking, like, man, we got to get these guys.

And why not get them twice this year if we see them again in the Super Bowl? We got to get them again in the regular season just to get that nasty taste out of our mouth and to believe that we can run with these guys and we can beat these guys. And I got a feeling that's going to always, that's sour taste is always going to be, you know, in Kyle's mouth. You know what I mean, in terms of, you know, Andy Reid beating him twice in the Super Bowl. But, I mean, this week is definitely personal. I'll be room for the Niners as well. Even though I love Patrick Mahomes,

and sometimes I find myself hating on him because he is so good, kind of like the whole time Brady situation. But, you know, I love watching him play, but at the same time, man, I want to see the Niners take him down. Yep. Emmanuel Sanders, two-time Pro Bowl, or 12 years in this league. It's a Friday. It's always special to play there and it's even more special when you can get a victory in Lambo because they always have, you know, a tough team. It's always a tough battle there. Guys be prepared. But I want our guys really, you know, understand the atmosphere, right? And really just take a look and look around and see how special that place is. Green Bay, 2724.

So you got it as a fairly close game between two fringe Super Bowl teams? Yeah, I think two teams that feel a year away, kind of young, both are a little young. But I think the line, sometimes the line's right. It's a field goal game, Green Bay by a field goal. That feels like the right line. It feels like the public sentiment is, oh, no Nico Collins? They score 41 points against the page. They're fine.

No big deal. There's a different animal. This Packers defense has shown really well this year, generating turnovers at a crazy rate. When you face a bad quarterback, a lot of three and outs. Rookie quarterback making this first start. Yeah, you get better field position, you get more possessions. When you face the Packers, the Packers aren't going to have three and outs. The Packers are going to have eight play drives and ten play drives,

meaning your offense isn't on the field, meaning when you do get it on the road, you've got to score. So that's the big gap. A good quarterback significantly helps your defense. You have a bad quarterback like New Orleans. That defense is shot by middle of the third quarter. So all of a sudden, and I'm not saying Green Bay's got a great defense, but a good quarterback and a good offense,

you have a well-rested defense that only has to play 24 minutes a game. I'm trying to think back that Texans Vikings game. I mean, Sam Darnold in that offense just moved through the Houston defense. Lafleur, I think we agree. He's probably a top five to seven coach in the league. I think so. Sharp offensive mind. I like the Jair Alexander matchup against Diggs.

Yep. And the safety is a Green Bay playing out of their minds. I'm going package here. Yeah, I'm with you. All right, next up, going back to my Jets. Yep, that's what we do here. New York Jets football program. After the Devante Adams trade, everybody's all excited.

He's still a young guy. He's got a little way to go. But I wouldn't anticipate Wilson's targets. He ain't getting more 22 target games. Well, that's not happening. Garrett Wilson could get the exact same target. Remember, again, when you have Garrett Wilson, I can roll over coverage. More three and outs. More five and six and outs. So now you're going to see extended drives. And that's the key on this thing. When they're running motion and giving Breece Hall,

you're going to pick up more first downs. So where you are a three and out or a six and out, you're not going to have those. So drives are going to be extended. Time of possession for the Jets should gradually keep going up every week now. And that means more opportunities for Garrett Wilson. I love that positive spin.

I know that assistance-based suggestions, you make decisions, how much input does Arthur have on these situations?

Just give me that he's been game planning with Justin for six weeks. I'll wear the decisions. Well, after speaking with reporters, somebody asked George Pickens about, you know, the decision. He said, well, he's putting in extra work with Russell Wilson this week because it will be his first start. So the story leaked a couple of minutes later. But a Russell Wilson is going to start. Hey, he's been practicing his high fives.

He's ready to go. His career has just gotten daffy. I don't know what to make of it. It's just weird. Well, I feel better about the two and four Jets than the four and two Steelers when they meet. I like the Jets a lot. That's just a, that's how I feel about it. I should note the Jets announced that their slot corner, Michael Carter's out,

and DJ reads a game time decision. So two of their top three corners could be out. Could line up for a great spot for Russell Wilson to just go off. Sauce Gardner, I would assume, will follow pickings. When is the last, I mean, serious question, when is the last time Russell Wilson had a game? It feels just like the pop is gone. Not the elusiveness.

He can still move, though not like what he did. He can still move. Short passing game. Passing game out of the pocket. But I mean, just ask yourself, if I said last Big Kirk Cousins game, you're like, oh, 500 yards two weeks ago. Right, right, right. You know, Gino Smith, well, 38 first downs against Detroit, Baker Mayfield, four touchdown. Even the guys that we consider like B-plus, they have a game.

They have a moment. When is Russell's last wow game? Well, I think that speaks to the lack of trust the coaches having him. I mean, Sean Payton, we know, we're going to run and win with defense. Don't screw it up, Russ. We don't want you throwing 40 times. I don't think they trust him at this stage. And I will point out, you look at that Pittsburgh injury report, looks like they're going to be down to a third string center for Russell Wilson's debut this week.

And a backup, I think it's right tackle. So things are looking shaky for Pittsburgh. And we know the trenches matter more than, say, you know, a running back injury. Yeah, I mean, it's interesting. It's a four and two team against the two and four team. and I like the two and four team on the road at the four and two team. And I think you'll see it very quickly. I think if you're a Jets fan, the thing you, I mean, a week ago,

we thought all the New York teams were getting it together. Then the Jets lose. The Mets are getting just dragged. The left tackle, Andrew Thomas, out for the year for the Giants, so you can forget that team making the playoffs. Forget about it. It comes down to the Yankees who lost last night should win the series. So we've been saying here that there's been a decade in New York,

nobody is winning. The Knicks are promising cross your fingers on health, but we thought a week ago. Look at the Mets. Look at the Giants. Look at the Jets. If the Jets lose. Oh, boy. Oh, boy.
