It is our number two. Wherever you may be and however you may be listening, thanks for making us part of your day. You got new cameras, graphic package, things are really turning up here. The budget has been expanded. These cameras are very fancy. If they could only open the balconies here at Fox, you can't walk outside anymore. I need some fresh air in between your brakes. Oh, you're hot air blowing.

Well, they're probably closed the balcony. he's around the building for a reason. Maybe there's a safety reason. It's been like two weeks then. Come on. Flora fauna out there. Maybe they're growing something. Is that English?

Florifada? What the heck is that? Whatever. Okay, so I used the, I had the Ryan Leaf thing. So there is potentially five, six quarterbacks going to be taken in the first round. The first round is like all tackles, all receivers, all quarterbacks, and edge rushers. Like the whole first round feels like it. So Caleb Williams is going to go to Chicago.

We presume. And I think he's a really talented guy. Takeaway Andrew Luck, who's a complete outlier, you go to last 20 years. You're as good as where you land. Brock Purdy's not doing this in Atlanta. He's not doing this in Carolina. Bryce Young with the Niners probably would look pretty good. So I think Caleb Williams is good enough to overcome some nonsense.

Now, I thought C.J. Stroud was not good enough to overcome Houston's nonsense, but Houston hit a home run with their coach and their offensive coordinator, and they had a very good draft. So all of a sudden, the nonsense was out of the building. They hit home runs with coaches. It's a wonky division anyway. So all of a sudden, you're like, oh, Houston's for real. He didn't have to overcome nonsense. Houston is a semi-regrettable owner, but the GM, the coach, the coordinator, the quarterback,

and some of their offensive personnel is pretty darn good. But I think Caleb Williams is good enough to be really, really interesting for Chicago. But Matt Eberfluse is on the hot seat week one. We all know that. Matt Eberbluse is not going to be there in two, three years. They wanted him out half the year this year. If he struggles at all, and Caleb Williams will struggle. Remember, his comps are Mahomes, Josh Allen and Kyler Murray.

Two of those three guys that played early, and he'll have to play early in Chicago, struggled. Kyler struggled with turnovers, running around, you know, game overwhelms him, and Josh Allen struggled with accuracy and efficiency. Caleb's going to struggle. And the coach, when he does struggle in September and October, in a very good division, by the way, Detroit and Green Bay, our NFC Championship, Super Bowl-level potential teams out of the NFC. The coach is going to get run, just the way it's going to be.

Nothing against Matt. It starts out 2 and 4. He's getting run. But Ryan Leif went on the Dan Patrick show and said, I see things that concern me. If they take him, I would be, you better be under the understanding that you're going to sit him this year. Because 75% of what he made him so great in college

is not transferable to the NFL. He's not going to be able to do that. he can't do what he did in college 75% of the time and be successful at the NFL level. He can do the 25% part at the NFL level, but he needs some time. I watched every big snap for Caleb Williams. I think the criticisms by Lance Zerline,

Caleb Williams, Merrill Hodge. I think they're valid. I think he does lean into the spectacular. And I think if Patrick Mahomes would have gotten the wrong coach that didn't know how to get him back on the fairway, Mahomes' career would not look like it looks. I don't think if Josh Allen had Brian Dable. He would have been able in year two to, again, kind of refine his game as quickly.

You need a good coach. Andrew Luck is a complete outlier. So I do think the – now we know Caleb's going to Chicago, right? We think that, right? So let's take the other five quarterbacks. Is there a place that if they landed would be fairly ideal? I don't know if any of these will come true, but they feel like they work for me. And I do think mostly overwhelmingly, 99 if I'm not.

set where you land matters. I think Jaden Daniels at number two matters. He's played out west. He's played in the SEC. Now he goes to the Northeast. He gets an experienced play caller with Cliff Kingsbury who's had quarterbacks that move Mahomes and Kyler Murray. So he's had similar quarterbacks.

Kyler Mahomes, Jaden Daniels, they move around. They've got cap space. They will shore up some of their issues. They've already got good weapons who have been in the League, you know, Terry McLaurin's obviously very good. So his coordinator has coached similar style players. I think Jaden at number two, and I think Cliff Kingsbury is telling Dan Quinn that. I've had this quarterback before. I think Drake May, people are saying he drops. I think the Giants would be perfect. May has a relationship with Eli Manning. We know Brian Dayball has had a quarterback

who's tall and moves but needs refinement. Josh Allen. He wouldn't have to play right away in a big major number one media market, New York. So again, the Eli connection. Dave Bowles had a quarterback like this. Tall, little inefficient, sort of hot and cold, but man, it's hard to take your eyes off him. Giants number six get Drake May. Number 11, you know, he may.

He may not be quite, I don't think he's what everybody else does. Maybe I'm wrong. J.J. McCarthy Vikings. Again, much cheaper version of Kirk Cousins with more athletic ability. The team's got an offensive coach. This would allow them with a cheaper option quarterback to retain Justin Jefferson, and they have Jordan Addison and T.J. Hawkinson. That's good weapons, plus a great left tackle.

In this division, you got to score points. They've got weapons. Kirk Cousins coming off of surgery. J.J. McCarthy, 11 of the Vikings. Bo Nix, I think, goes to Denver at 12. I think he's an excellent fit with Sean Payton. He has 61 college starts. Sean Payton needs to win now.

He's not here to teach you out of play quarterback. Bo Nix has 61 starts Auburn, Oregon. He is ready to play. His ceiling may be lower, but his floor could be higher. Peyton wants a quarterback. Who follows his play design? That's exactly what Oregon did with Bonex. Saw him live twice.

They designed him. He hit him. Very, very accurate. They have Cortland Sutton, Jerry Judy, Giovante Williams, an offensive coach. Again, 61 college starts.

To me, his comp is a little Drew Breeze with mobility. And then number 16, Seattle, Michael Pennix. Why does he fit there? Now, some would say he's being overdrafted. But Gino Smith is a little bit. guaranteed no money next year. The Seahawks offensive coordinator

is Ryan Grubb. That was Pennix offensive coordinator at Washington. He doesn't have to move. It's the Pacific Northwest. D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Jackson Smith, Nijigba, a good left tackle, Charles Cross. Excellent young running backs.

It won't be past dependent. So I think those work. Jaden Daniels, two to the commanders, Drake May 6 to the Giants, J.J. McCarthy, the 11 of the Vikings, Bo Nix 12 to Denver, and Michael Pennock, 16,

to the Seahawks. Could be wrong on all of them, but they feel like in this league, you know, there's the occasional Andrew Lucker, Peyton, Manning. And it's just kind of different. But a lot of these guys, I think, fit well in these spots.

Pennix with his college coordinator could literally, doesn't have to move around the block. That feels like a, and a team that could be very run. run first. They got Zach Charbonnet. They got the guy out of Michigan State. They've got two really nice running backs. They can play some power

football and a coach who comes from Baltimore that likes power football. So what does this mean for the Patriots at three? That nobody fits with them? This goes into the story that we just read where New England's personnel guy is considering keeping

Mac for a year with Alex Van Pelt and just getting weapons because they have the worst weapons in the league. And I don't think it's a terrible idea. This also is suggesting that Drake made drops a slaughter to those reports have been out there. I think Kingsbury is looking at Jaden Daniels saying he's Kyler plus Mahomes. He's got a little bit of that. I mean, didn't he average like 8.4 yards a run last year or something? The kid can run. I saw a story two days ago. Somebody combed him to Lamar Jackson. I think he's a I think he's a more ready to throw in the NFL

than Lamar Mois. I don't think he's at twitchy. Well, Lamar felt a 32nd in the first round. Well, it's needs. I think Jaden is more ready to throw it from the pocket than Lamar was breaking into the league. I think Lamar's just one of one in terms of athletic ability. So who do you have two among these quarterbacks coming out right now? Well, I think they're all situationally dependent on where they land. By the way, Pennix would get a defensive coach, Bownick's offense, McCarthy offense,

Drake May offense, Jaden Daniels' defense with a great O.C. I think it's all such. I think it's really situational. this idea, take Andrew Luckout, tell me the quarterback in the last 10 years, that just went to a place where everything was upside down and got him to the playoffs. It doesn't happen. I mean, I guess you could say Justin Herbert. He didn't win a playoff game, but with two coaches that appeared over their head in a division with Patrick Mahomes,

Herbert in the AFC got him to the playoffs. Well, C.J. Stroud. Everything was upside down. That's a great coach and a great O.C. Well, we didn't know he was a great. He was a defensive guy. But we do now. What? We do now know. Okay, Herbert overcame

Brandon Staley to get to the playoffs. That's very rare that you can have the wrong coach, you're regressing, the defense is bad, and you get to an AFC playoff game. I mean, I'm telling you, it just doesn't happen very much. Jaden Daniels, by the way, is 6'4, so he is taller than Lamar, Mahomes, and Kyler.

That's why I think Jaden will be pretty... I've watched them at Arizona State. I didn't have much of an eye. offense. Good running back, not much of an offense. But at LSU, he can throw the ball down the field. He can see the field. He's not small. This is just how I see it. Brock Heward played in the NFL for

six years. Let's bring him in. Fox Sports, NFL and college football analyst. So, I mean, you just saw that. And I said, I do believe this league is situational. There's an occasional Andrew Locke, but 9 out of 10 quarterbacks.

You get a bad coach, a bad coordinator in a terrible low line. You're in big trouble. Did any of those make sense to you? No, I think a lot of them made sense. I think the, gosh, you could really debate this, Colin, and say, which is the most intriguing? Which of all of those is like the single most intriguing prospect? And I think between now in the NFL draft, it's going to be J.J. McCarthy. Yeah. I know my buddy, Joel Klatt, sits next to you. He's enamored with him. I chat with Chris Peterson on my radio show this morning up in Seattle. He's enamored with him. I know that I'm enamored with him. I know that we're enamored with him. I know that

when I was in studio, in your palatial studio there, Colin, and I was with Bo Garrett, my producer. I know that when we had Michigan, Nebraska this year, and we sat in a production meeting with J.J. McCarthy, and he left the room, and Bo looked at me, and Benetti looked at me, and Allison looked at me, and Darren, the director looked at me, and went, wow, that dude is just, how do you not just love that guy and want to play for that guy and with that guy? I mean, he was magnetic. I watched the combine, and, you know, I didn't just watch these guys throw, and we get into that, Colin. I try to watch for like the interaction. Much as those GMs and those scouts and the coaches that are sitting there in the stands, that's what they're watching too.

They got their stopwatches, but they're watching, how does this guy interact? And I told the story on my show this week that, man, he reminded me in 1999 of Donovan McNabb. I went to the combine. It was a year very similar to this year's draft. There was Dante Cole Pepper. There was K. McNeum. There was Akelea Smith. There was Donovan McNabb. There was Tim Couch. There was Sean King. I end up, I think, being the seventh one drafted in the third round. But I remember being at that combine and watching Donovan with the guys and the guy, he was just the magnet. They want to be around him. Yeah. I mean, he didn't throw like the most beautiful and he wasn't the most natural passer, but he was a winner. Dudes loved him. They gravitated towards him. I watched JJ stay on

the field, cheering guys on. And then all of a sudden, well, Caleb was seeing that. So now I got to go do that. I guess if JJ's doing that, I better go out here and watch these guys and support him. and J.J.J. McCarthy is going to be the most intriguing, and I don't think there's any shot in the world. He ends up where, you know, where you had him. I think he's going to go higher than that. Wow. Well, it's fascinating.

You get more information, I'll have different opinions, you know? Like, I'm getting more and more stuff. I will say this. Two people had reported last week that he was unbelievable at the combine on the whiteboard, which, by the way, I was told Baker Mayfield blew people away. Darnold wasn't great at the whiteboard. Baker blew him away. That's why he went number one.

So that stuff matters. So the Caleb Williams criticism from Ryan Leif. I initially like, this kid's going to work. But Ryan said something. Matt Miller, a scout has said something. Lance Zerline has said the kid leans into the spectacular. That's not the NFL. It doesn't work.

So is that a concern in your opinion? Yeah, it is. I would say it was not a concern. in his Heisman year, but this year there were some concerns, Colin. You're down there in L.A. You talk to a lot of people. You've been around that program. And I think this year there was just more noise. I love to, and I quote you all the time, all right? I don't just steal your stuff. I quote you. And you'd love to use that, you'd love to use that word. And it's a great one. There's just a lot of noise. There was a lot of noise around the Seahawks in like 14 and 15

as it started to fall apart. And there was just, there's kind of a lot of noise. I'm just kind of watching some of the, I kind of add drama to it too. And I think to Leif's point and guys that have been there and done it, you can never get bored with, never get tired with the boring. Yeah. You just can't get tired with it. I watched Peyton Manning for two years when I was around him sit in the front row of our meeting still take notes even though he knew those plays, but he knew it's just the, yeah, it's

this kind of work. It's just putting it in. It's Tom. It's all the greats. That's what they do. They just don't get tired of the boring. And yeah, you watched Caleb last year and Colin, there were a lot of times. I'm like, just hand the ball off.

I did a game of his against Utah, and I'm like, hand the ball, hand the ball. It's R.P. Hand the ball off. You're running for five yards of carry. They're daring you to do it, and yet you're pulling it and throwing bubbles and throwing screens and scrambling around and getting sacked and getting hit. Now, is some of that the expectations is the weight of the world on him last year? Can he repeat as a Heisman? It was it all about him?

Sure it was. And the NFL will neuter some of that. It will humble him. There's no question about that. But playing on time, playing on rhythm, being okay with boredom, all of those things will be steps. He will be the first pick. He will go. His talent is incredible.

But he's going to have to grow. There's no question in that way. All right. I want to go to Michael Panix. You're a proud Husky. I saw him play alive. My takeaway is he's a bigger Tua. He's a pocket guy, a little stronger than Tua, better deep ball.

Also had great receivers and a terrific coach and a good O.C. So he had some things that work for him. Their talent was overwhelmingly on the offensive side of the ball, but that's not his fault. I you know Jay Mack and I have talked about this listen I don't care like I if Daniel Jones can go six I'm not outraged by this guy

going mid first round I think Washington ran a pro offense and he got a team without much NFL talent on defense to the playoff I would never have a problem Ciox taking mid first round what say you well the Ciox have the greatest advantage

more advantage than anybody else in the league in this draft because two of these six guys, if they want a quarterback, if they're going to go that route as they've cleaned house, they've cleaned house on the coaching staff. Yesterday, they cut three guys, are starting to clean house on the roster. They've got an advantage that nobody else has. Ryan Grub and Scott Huff, the OC and O-Line coach, we're with this guy, building this thing for the last two years. On the other side, Mike McDonald was with J.J. McCarthy for a season at Michigan. That year, they finally beat Ohio State. So they have guys that don't have to, you know,

trust scouts or head coaches or GM's opinions. They were embedded with those guys. So they will know them better than anybody else. And I think those are the two that they would target, in my opinion, because of some of that background. The scare for me, Colin, and this showed up in the championship game, is Panics was so good at protecting himself. I don't care about the past history. I really don't. He showed that over the last two years, he could protect himself. He was sacked fewest times over the last two years than any college quarterback.

He gets the ball out of his hands. But in the NFL, you get hit and you get hit hard. Jake Browning shared this anecdote with Chris Peterson. It was great. After the season ended, and remember Jake got to play this year and play great at times for the Bengals. First time as a starter. And he told Coach Peterson, he said,

Chris, it's a lot different on a Monday. The soreness on a Monday was a lot different than the soreness in college on a Sunday. Right. Because these are grown men, and they beat you up. And you feel it. And that championship game, to me, was a little scary, Colin, because he took a beating. I'm not going to say every Sunday would be 51 passes

and getting hit like he did against Michigan. But you remember, he was in the tent at the end of the game, and I'm sitting there screaming. I'm like, get out of that tent. Get out of that tent. Go on the field. You have got to, for the evaluators and the scouts, get, and good for him.

And had the gumption and the guts to get out of that tent. Go play that final series, take more hits. But that's the question, not even his past, projecting that frame forward. Can he take the beating that you are going to take in the NFL? Finally, didn't work for Russell Wilson. you as somebody who does a show, Seattle, you know the Seahawks, Russ well. Now you're in Denver, where, again, so you've kind of moved like Russell from the northwest to the Mile High City is, you know, everybody banged on Sean Payton.

But my takeaway was, in a way I could argue he saved Russ. The narrative after Hackett was washed, little cringy with teammates, Seahawks were blasting him, and super expensive. I think the narrative now is, God, you could get him for a couple million bucks. he was pretty good last year. He had the same number of touchdowns as Lamar Jacks and the MVP. I think Peyton, and I don't think Peyton saw him as the future, but he kind of saved the narrative. It was a mess, was it not?

I mean, to a degree, but the way that he just took him apart on that sideline, on that whatever day it was, Sunday night, I mean, you don't see that a lot with someone that could be a future Hall of Famer, just undressing him in Detroit and everything else. And from that moment, I was like, this is done. this is just not going to work. And I think behind the scenes, even from the very, very beginning, and certainly there was a lot of scuttle butt at Fox as he was there that year

and talking to Terry and talking to everybody that just from a system standpoint, on time, on rhythm, everything that you said earlier about Bo Nix and maybe being a fit for Sean Payton, that is not Russell Wilson. But if you're Russell Wilson, then you really want to save your career, save your legacy, save your Hall of Fame bust. I think you've got to do all you can to get yourself to Pittsburgh. And God bless Pittsburgh. I hope I don't follow him from Seattle to Denver to Pittsburgh.

He can go do that on his own, as you said, on a minimum salary. Unbelievable defense, heavy run game, heavy play pass. Arthur Smith did it with Tanna Hill and got to an AFC championship game with that skill set and Russell with all of that background. I think Russ and his people, and it's always his people and Russ. They're a team together with it. I think they've got to do all they can to get to the Steel City because that's the place. If you want to talk about saving a career and saving a legacy,

All right, buddy, we're back talking about Caleb Williams in Chicago, but let's focus on Justin Fields here for a moment. According to Albert Breer, the Bears are open to waiting until other free agents, like Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, and now Russell Wilson signed before making a move. Is that a sign of weakness that the market's perhaps soft for Justin Fields? If you have a declining asset, it could be a carve,

it could be a quarterback. We're sure he's a declining asset? Did you watch the last game? Even Chicago media, which had been very pro Justin Fields in week 12, week 14, literally bailed after the Jordan Love game against the Packers, where Jordan Love looked like a first team all pro, and Justin Fields was completely limited. So I think, I mean, who in the building thought that helped Justin Fields? Like the Chicago media has pivoted to, we're not into him.

You go back and look at your shows and you're right. reports, week 10, 12, 13. There was a lot of defending him. After the Jordan Love Fields game, week 18, it was over. Okay. So here's my issue, Colin. If you look at the guys who are perceived better assets than Fields, cousins, Baker, and Russell Wilson. So let's say Baker Mayfield is like, hey, I prove it I'm a starter.

I want three years, $40 million a year. Like, is he, based on his contract, is that better than Justin Fields? But you get like a look and see on a rookie deal. And if Baker Mayfield is a significantly better quarterback than Justin's. He's going to want multiple years. With Fields, you can just test. Well, what's wrong with Tampa giving a three-year deal? They can draft a quarterback fourth round this year.

Baker has won a playoff game in the AFC and the NFC. Okay. Find me the quarterbacks who have won playoff games in both conferences. I bet there's not five. Okay. He also lost his guy, Canales. he's now coaching Carolina, smart young offensive mind. Like, you're going to be a regression from Baker.

He had a carousel of coaches in Cleveland and won a playoff. How's this? I would argue Baker will regress next year. Justin Fields, wherever he is, will be better than he was in Chicago. step back, but he said he realized it when he got to be the quarterbacks coach in UCLA's bowl game. It was time for a change. I saw. I hadn't actually coached a position since 2008. And I think my wife from Mark, she's like, I haven't seen you this happy in a long time. And to me, the best part of football is football.

And so you got to do football and not do some of the things that involved with the head coaching deal. Because a head coach, you sit in on position meetings. But you're always getting pulled out. And there's other things that are involved with being a head coach. And I think it's more of a CEO operation right now. You know, it's the job and the landscape, as we all know, of college football has. changed. I just want to be happy. And I'm really happy, coach in a position.

Really happy to be at this place. Well, I talked to Chip's wife last night. Bumped into her. She said he is incredibly happy. And we broke down some schematic Buckeye stuff, but I don't want to get into that. But I like Chip a lot. And I think the reason

Jay Wright retired early at Villanova and Nick Saban retired before he had to, and Chip Kelly moved, it's all for the same reason, is that college football right now, it is hard to be a head coach, unless you're at one of these great marquee brands like a Texas or a Michigan or a Ohio States probably, you know, they recruit themselves a little bit. But I think, I'll say this again, I don't know what to expect from Ohio State at quarterback, but I'm taking the Buckeyes to win the national title. I agree. I like that. I'm taking them to win the national title.

I think, listen, I've sat and had beers and talked. football for a long time with Chip Kelly. That dude is, he is sharp. He just doesn't like all, he's made a ton of money in the NFL in college. He's, and he's not, Chip Kelly is not, you know, he doesn't need much. He likes happiness, you know, got a great wife, got a great life. He's not one of these guys living to some stand. He wants to coach football, hang out with his friends. I think he's going to crush at Ohio State. And I think what they have is what he would have loved at UCLA. First round NFL wide receiver talent. Because people forget this about UCLA and Chip Kelly. If you go to the last two years in the PAC 12, and they don't have a collective at

UCLA, not like Oregon, Washington, USC. They have the most guys drafted in the NFL in the Pac 12 last two years. So Chip develops players at a level that 99% of college football coaches don't. So Ohio State always gets good players. Watch him develop play. You forget how many players UCLA has drafted and playing at a high level. They got another first rounder this year,

an edge rusher. They have done a tremendous job developing players and that's Chip. So Ohio State it's not about just getting players. The Buckeiser top three recruiting place in the country. What Harbaugh did was getting a lot of three and four star guys and make them play like five star guys.

That was the secret sauce with Harbaugh was developing good recruits, making them great players. That's what Chip Kelly does. The only question with them is, do they have the quarterback? I don't know that, so I have to watch them play. But they have Chip Kelly, who. You know, how about this game? Ohio State, Oregon.

I think it's in Eugene. I'll take it. How? Chip Kelly returning? I'll take the buck guys. So will I, but that's a top five game of the year in college football. It feels like Ohio State versus Georgia for the national championship. If Ohio State gets B-plus quarterback play, I think they win the Natty.

Now, Georgia's quarterback is, I mean, he's... He's the best one I've had. It's early, but he's probably the number one pick next year. No, he throws, he spins it. He's good. He's the best Georgia quarterback I've seen. I will say the game plan against Alabama in that game they lost, left a little to be desired. Well, it's a defensive program. Did not like that. Because you got an NFL quarterback. Open it off.

I was very conservative, disappointing. I lost money in that game, shocker. It sounds like it. I can see your betterness. I remember that. Early December. I'm on a heater in college hoops. Did you win again last night?

Two and one last night, yeah. Profitable. Did you watch the games? You just bet the number? No, I didn't watch the number. You don't have to watch the games. Just bet the number. Billy Bean didn't watch the A's when they were making the playoffs.

I'm watching this new show. There's no way you and your wife will watch. It's called Ex-Pats with Nicole Kidman. No. It is the most depressing show I think I've ever seen in my life, and I'm, like, resentful of my wife for suggesting it. It's very well done. and, you know, good actors.

I'll tell you what I just finished. I refuse. It's awful. Yeah. The Octopus Murder's Netflix. Okay. A labyrinth of confusion and conspiracies and a government nonsense. You will not look at our government the same.

Take on the jewel of the desert in Phoenix. The pre-race begins at 2.30 Eastern with the engines firing at 3.30 Sunday on Fox. So nine NFL football players were tagged, the franchise tag, meaning they give you a big contract for a year. You don't get the comfort and safety of a big contract, but they want you and they'll pay a top five in the league at your position. Nine players were tagged. And if this doesn't tell you what the current NFL is, nothing will.

Two edge rushers, two receivers, a bunch of corners and safeties, and the Ravens sack leader. On the flip side, plenty of good running backs could have been tagged. None of them were. Derek Henry, nope. Saquan Barkley, nope. Austin Eccler, no. Josh Jacobs, good backs.

No. You also didn't see any off-ball linebackers tagged, crucial for the run defense. Transition, everybody tied, top-tier guys to the passing game, keep them. Catching it, defending it, or pursuing the other team's quarterback. The projected top 10 of the NFL draft, Lance Zerline NFL.com, is four quarterbacks, two receivers, an edge rusher and three tackles. No running backs.

No linebackers. In fact, the overall first round projections by most mocks, the average is five to six quarterbacks, six receivers, seven offensive tackles, a tight end, and four edge rushers. Not a running back. Not one. And a couple of corners. So we've said this.

Last 10 coaches in the Super Bowl. all offensive. Ten for ten. Belichick feels outdated. Tomlin can't solve the offense. Like it's not hard to figure out. That's why Rahim Morris, you're concerned as a defensive coach in Atlanta. But he was a past game coordinator for several years in the NFL, and his closest ally in the league is Sean McVeigh.

So he does have a sensibility with offense and most of Atlanta's talents on offense. but you know it's and again you can hit it right Sean McDermott's a good coach Seattle hired a guy from Baltimore who did wonders with their defense I'm not saying it doesn't work but the downside to a defensive coach is that to be successful you need a great offensive coordinator as a defensive coach because you don't know that side of the ball and when that great coordinator leaves like the guy in Houston may in another year how do you know you're going to hit on another great offensive coordinator you'll have to get into a bidding war because there's at any one time two or three really good ones.

So it's, you know, I've said this. You start looking at my favorite division right now in the league that I think it's going to make, it was good last year, it's going to make a huge leap, is the NFC North. I think Green Bay, Detroit, and if Minnesota gets cousins back and then drafts McCarthy, or if they just go McCarthy, I think the offensive brainpower and talent in the NFC North, Vikings receivers and tight ends Detroit's O-line Green Bay's receivers and

tight ends like spectacular not to mention if Kirk Cousins come back or if they land J.J. McCarthy and I'm still trying to figure out what he is. That's a good division. So J-Mack the tag who you keep, who you pay

all connected to the past game. Corners, a safety, an edge rusher, receivers. Yeah, I think I saw the stat that if you passed for more yards than your opponent this year, you won like 66, 67% of your games. That was way up from what it was like 50%

the last few years. So it's interesting. So I had a terrible first two weeks of NFL betting. Yeah, 0 for 10. Yeah. No, 09 and 1. Oh, 9 and 1, sorry. And then I got hot. And so from that point forward, I think I hit 63%. Never had a losing week after Thanksgiving. And I started doing

generally what fans do. but I started watching and I thought to myself, the best quarterbacks are either winning or covering it feels like every weekend. And that's always been sort of a sucker bet. But this year, fans had their best year in forever against the sports books and the sports companies. And fans tend to bet with their heart and they bet the better quarterback. Favorites. And I think increasingly that's what the league is.

The AFC, I think is, and we did it like, Last year, we had some success. The AFC South is a little wonky. But by and large, the AFC's gotten very dependable. I'm taking Josh Allen. I'm going to take Burrow or Lamar. I'm going to take Trevor Lawrence to bounce back. And I'm going to take Mahomes and Herbert with a legitimate coach.

So the best teams ATS, I just called it up. Against the spread. Tell the audience what that means. Usually it's crap teams that nobody wants to bet. That's how the House wins. Detroit was number one, 14, and 6. Number two was Patrick Mahomes, 13, 7, and 1. Matt Stafford in the round.

They're number three. Then Baker, Mayfield, in Tampa. There's your craft team. They made the playoffs. Bad team. Baltimore with the MVP, Lamar Jackson, and then another bad team, the Vegas Raiders, 10, 6, and 1. Those are like the best teams against the squad.

They were very feisty at the end of the year. But by and large, this is not the way it works. The star quarterbacks usually get over-bath. You've got to pay a tax to bet them. For years and years, when Mahomes had a great offensive set around him, he wasn't great against the spread as a big favorite. this year with no receivers except for she rice he was excellent against the spread and that doesn't tell you mohomes is getting that much better because he's really good it's telling you the league is changing

it is all about protecting the quarterback and elevating the quarterback so when i see teams say well what do you give up for i heard i saw the other day the commanders uh you know there was a discussion or a story about the commanders moving to number one what would you give up and i thought to myself what would i give up cliff kings because i think washington's a better run going to be a better run operation, at least for a year or two, than Chicago is. And my takeaway is, I'd give up like three first-round picks. Again, if the quarterback works, draft picks become much less relevant. When you have Mahomes, I mean, say what you want about the Buffalo Bills.

They didn't have a run game until this year. They kept challenging for the AFC championship. Joe Burrell had a terrible offensive line. They got to a Super Bowl. Mahomes had no receivers except Rishie Rice. They win the Super Bowl. Well, hold on. Panthers had to give up a receiver and a first-round.

pick for Bryce Young. Yeah, but that's Bryce Young. I know, but he was the number one this time last year. No, I'm saying. It was all about Bryce Young. The quarterback is great. It's certified. If you hit and he's really good, you do not have to be great everywhere. You just can have holes. Baltimore, I mean, Baltimore was the overwhelming favorite. Mahomes had a weak receiving court. I know people are hot for Daniels and J.J. McCarthy's, the talk of the town. I'm going with the guy that I saw. now for back-to-back years, sling it, and I'm not getting swayed

by this Johnny Come Lately crap. Drake May, he's going to be a rookie of the year. He's going to be really good. If Washington gets him, you watch them more than I did. Yeah. I mean, people are not picking him apart. You had your boy Zerline on here just trashing Drake Ray.
