This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Hey, guys, it's us.
The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe.
I'm Kevin.
And I'm Nick.
And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you.
you get your podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel
and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you
funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with
Robert Smygel and Friends on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
The story I told myself can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown if you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole.
This podcast is for you to hear more.

Shout out to our dude,
Colin, who was fun to hang with him
in New Orleans at his volume party.
Great to see him.
Actually, I posted a picture from that event
in our IG story at Covino and Rich
if you want to play along at home.
Oh, you mean the one that John Middilkoff took
with the worst lighting ever?
Yeah, you guys look so good in that pick.
Middlecough is a great dude.
It was a great.
to him.
He's a great host,
but he's a terrible photographer.
It's true.
Then again, we were boozing and schmoozing
at the Super Bowl.
But again, everything at Covino
and Rich on social media.
CNN on the Herd, the number
8774 The Herd.
We're live from Jersey.
And again, shout out to everybody
on the IHeart Radio app.
Checking out our podcast.
Search Covino and Rich
for every stream of your podcast.
We're on 5 to 7 on the East normally,
but always a pleasure to be here.
Also shout out to Ross, who drove us home from our Philly event with Dallas Goddard yesterday.
Yeah.
From IHeart. Ross drove us from Philly all the way to Jersey, which is great. So shout
out to him. He's listening. And everybody hanging out with us today, we appreciate you.
This guy, Ross.
Yeah. He was the nicest guy. Danny, G., we got to tell you the story, Danny, because we hang with
you every day. We're doing the event with Dallas Goddard all day. A lot of fun.
Yeah, a great event for... Nice outfit you had on in your Instagram story yesterday.
We had to wear the most ridiculous track suits. It was a lot of...
a sales event with Dallas and
Ross who works for I-Heart is like
yeah where you guys headed we were going to take
an Amtrak or an Uber or something
from Philly back to Jersey
and he said
well I'm headed in that direction and we
took him up on it. God bless him too because
he had to listen to Rich for three
hours on the way home so we got stuck
behind an accident this poor dude
signed up for driving
Kavino and Rich back to New Jersey
got Rich's whole life story so he deserves
a shout out to Ross who works on the
marketing team at IHeart and New York. He's a good dude.
Again, I'm Steve Covino.
That is Rich Davis. Danny G.
is back at the LA Studios at 8774.
The Hertz Super Produce. And getting ready for
Quote Me, our new game
giving away prizes. So stick around for that.
And, of course, Big Sexy Ryan on the ones and twos.
But I want to continue talking about
what made the Four Nations
tournaments so great, so intriguing.
Pulled us all in yesterday. We have to make it very
clear that we rarely watch hockey.
And, man, we were tuned in.
We felt the excitement.
We realized it felt big.
We realized that pride was on the line.
And we saw some really great sportsmanship, some really great gameplay.
And I don't think anyone said it better than P.K. Subon last night, Rich.
Yeah, take a listen to this guy giving it to Stephen A.
I'm sick and tired of making athletes greats, all-time greats that aren't the best examples.
Stephen A, you want athletes to be educated on this and understand this.
They got to understand the importance of showing up to the All-Star game and being on the court.
Because you're making $100, $200, $300 million, you should be out there banged up.
You should be.
That's why we pay you is to max out.
I don't care if you play 50 years.
I want your best 10.
I want you on the court dominating.
I want you to go all out.
I want Michael Jordan.
I want Kobe.
That's what I want in every sport.
That's the guy that I follow.
You're a different version than that?
You don't get my respect.
I think that's why it resonated so hard last night, though, Rich, because it's the casual fans, right?
The casual fans are easily turned off by that type of attitude.
Whether it's warranted or not, that's the vibe we get from a lot of pampered athletes.
You didn't get that vibe last night from these hockey players.
They were putting it all out there for the fans, for their teammates, for their country, for the pride.
And that hit us, and we're watching.
You can see, we have eyes.
Like, oh, man, this is cool to watch.
Even Stephen A was like, I can't argue that.
I can't debate that.
I wrote down three reasons why I think last night resonated.
And you just touched on one of them.
Anytime you involve country pride, that's what the Olympics are based on, right?
So you talk about country pride.
You see it in the world's baseball classic.
It's almost an unfair comparison to compare that to the NBA All-Star game.
But you got to give hockey credit for saying, well, this is what we're going to do, right?
It was a great move.
Well, the NBA has toyed with, like I said, the one-on-one.
million dollar tournament. They have also
toyed with like the U.S.
superstars versus the international superstars.
Maybe there's something there. So
country pride always is going to bring out another
layer. Right. I'll be
honest, polarizing or not, the fact
that Donald Trump
was involved in, I'm going to motivate
Team USA. It created a buzz
for sure. It just brought more attention
to what was going on because that became
a story in itself. And you can't say that
the fighting layer
doesn't appeal to us, that we knew that
The previous matchup a week ago, there were three fights in the first, like, nine seconds.
So when you know that, ooh, this bad blood, which is, you know what it is?
It's a fighter's responsibility.
If you watch UFC or boxing, it's a fighter and a promoter's responsibility to get you hyped up about the fight.
And the easiest way to do that is to create animosity and bad blood.
Hold up.
Hey!
But again, what we criticize sometimes the NBA for is rivalry.
It's rivalry.
What you're really getting at the heart of it here is rivalry.
Right?
We really bought into the rivalry here like, ooh, they don't like each other.
And that gets you tuned in.
Would you rather watch a boxing match of two people that respected each other and liked each other?
Or people that hated each other.
Or, you know, it could get nasty.
That builds intrigue.
And when we see what happens in the NBA, you can see that's great sportsmanship or whatever.
And not just the NBA.
I don't want to be like I'm hating on the NBA.
But a lot of sports today is when.
players are too buddy chummy with the opposing team,
it takes away that rivalry that we as fans want to see sometimes.
Yeah.
So if you add all those things up,
country pride,
fighting,
and President Trump,
and they were booze and cheers and jeers for the U.S.
anthem, O Canada.
So there was a lot of layers,
and I think a big night for hockey.
So you got to give credit where credits do.
I'm not saying I'm going to start watching a random avalanche game
on a Tuesday.
You know,
Or like, it's not like I'm getting the NHL package when I get home, but still.
Also, though, on a big stage when the stars step up, you know,
and you see Connor McDavid come through like that.
You're like, oh, that's why he's a big name.
That's cool to see, right?
Like, you want to see those stars deliver when you tune in.
Again, we rarely watch hockey, but I think they won me over last night.
I think, you know, they won a lot of people over.
That's the sentiment here.
And you know what?
You could tie it into, like I said before, what gave the WMBA buzz?
in the last year and a half.
Rivalry.
A great young star and rivalry.
Yeah.
And maybe that rivalry, like, you know, what made the NBA take off to New Heights in the 80s?
Magic versus Bird, Celtics, Lakers, the owners, the organization, the stars.
So the stars playing with fire.
You know, I mean, think about baseball in the 90s.
Yankees, Red Sox.
There's a reason why sports have their peaks in valleys.
Peyton Manning versus Tom Brady.
that battle in the
AFC for a good decade.
You need competition.
You need rivalries.
You need this stuff.
And I think right now the NBA
has some great aging superstars.
Steph, LeBron,
Kyrie, Dremont.
These are all guys that
they're sort of all pals.
They played with each other.
They have it.
Can you tell me one rivalry?
Danny, you watch the NBA more than all of us.
Can you tell me right now
one heated rivalry in the NBA
where it's like,
they're playing the Tuesday night on TNT, I got to watch.
Yeah, I wouldn't say heated comes to mind for any of the rivalries right now in the NBA.
But what I'll say about all the criticism for their All-Star weekend, there was defense played finally.
That's been the rub for a long time now, those high scores.
What were the final scores like, 210 to 2.02?
The over-under on those games were like $4.50.
Yeah, exactly.
And now this format was more competitive.
The big complaint, and from a lot of the players, including Trey Young, if you remember,
was that those 20-minute breaks were what kind of threw this out of sync.
So I think they're on the right track in the NBA, but there's still some tweaking that needs to be done.
Okay, so again, the question that we posed to everybody hanging out and just chilling,
8774th the herd is, did hockey win last night?
Did it win you over?
And if you're already a fan, what was it that made it feel?
so big to you and how did you feel about everything you saw last night and congrats again to
Canada man that was awesome not to hammer home the same point because we'll move on but
the competition the competitive you know countries rivalries what was the first thing
everyone was saying when the luka anthony davis trade went down oh you know it would be awesome
in the playoffs if Dallas and the lakers got matched up because that's our initial instinct is
we want to see the drama, the rivalries.
Yeah, but as P.K. Subban said, yeah, we want to see that, but it's also on there and to deliver
that sort of competitiveness.
It's on them to say, I'm playing her.
No doubt.
I'm giving you my 100%.
That's why they're getting paid that much money.
But no doubt, if the Lakers and Mavericks somehow lined up to play the Western Conference
semis or even the finals, you know, depending on how the bracket works out, that would by far
Mark my words.
It would be by far the biggest ratings.
If AD's healthy, Luke is healthy.
I'm going to mark Messi your words.
Now you're a hockey guy.
I'm a hockey guy.
I see what you did that.
Rich, also with that line of thinking,
we're paying attention to whenever Jimmy Butler and the Warriors
play against his former heat teammates.
It's why every time a guy goes back to a team that did him dirty
or traded him or he left, what do they do?
It's always a homecoming of fans want to watch
because it's a nice thing or like, oh, that,
A-holes back, boo!
Like, why we, we can't forget
why we love these things.
Right?
Your thoughts, Fox Sports Radio Nation,
do we all agree on this?
Have to.
8774 The Herd.
I thought, you know, for a random
Thursday night, I'm like, what am I
watching? This feels like
two worlds collide,
rival nations. It felt
like an Olympic type of atmosphere
last night. And that's
sort of what we got on a random Thursday.
Props again to hockey.
They did it right.
They innovated.
It worked out.
Props again to the Four Nations tournament and the Four Nations title and overtime goes to Canada.
By the way, oddly enough, until last night, Kavino's favorite hockey player, happy Gilmore.
Who?
Covino Rich are Canadians now.
I was watching NBA last night.
Oh, seriously?
Danny, did you not tune in?
No, I saw highlights, but I was watching NBA last night.
It felt like a big deal.
You guys are prisoners of the moment right now with hockey.
I mean, it's possible.
That's why I like to hear everyone's opinion because I totally felt sucked in where I'm like,
my God, do I like hockey?
No, impossible.
This just feels big.
We were in Jersey, right, eating pizza, watching hockey.
Like, oh, man, enjoying every second of it.
Yeah, the same guys who last week on the Dan Patrick show when we were filling in,
You guys put competitive eating over hockey as a major sport.
That's right.
That's right.
But it's all changed after last night.
Hold on.
Hold on now.
We did have Joey Chestnut on the show.
Do I take back what I said?
I still think hot dog eating is above hockey.
But that could change.
Danny G.
Really hit the nail on the head.
That's funny, Danny.
Because the question really is, are we all, not just Kavino and Rich?
Are we all just prisoners of the moment?
Because we saw something really great last night.
are we prisoners of the moment
or did it really deliver
to the point where
hey I think I'm a fan now
I know what I don't want to do
I'll tune in a little more now
you know what I don't want to do though
Cove I don't want to be the guy
I hate
and you know who that guy is
it's the guy that every four years
breaks out his Vuvazala
and he's like yeah soccer
and you're like shut up
shut up World Cup guy
put away your horn
and I get it
you like hockey
I'm so you like soccer
I don't want to be that guy
with hockey
but we're not that casual
That guy's usually the same guy that likes the Olympics and the Olympics only, right?
I know.
But I will say, a great night.
The mother, F and end.
Win for Canada, win for hockey.
All right.
Now, I have an interesting question to pose based on something I read this morning.
Now, I'm not saying this is likely, but there are articles on legitimate nude sources.
Did you say nude sources?
Because that's probably more accurate.
If Rich was reading something, it's probably from a nude source.
I'm sorry
Not sure what happened there
News source
I should get rid of my nude sources
I'm sorry
There are news sources saying that
likely won't happen
But there are
Even ESPN is one of these places
That are suggesting
That the Chiefs could make
A very unpopular move
But when it comes to
Money on the Books
Dead Caps Pays everything
It makes
a hell of a lot of sense
for the Chiefs to think about moving on
from Travis Kelsey
after what he has done for that team
his girlfriend's the most famous person
on planet Earth
what do they talk about the hundreds of millions of dollars
she's brought in revenue
the owner of the Chief's daughter thanked her
for... By the way there's like weird value
in that because any team that
would want to pick him up also
gets that fan base
remember the stats like Chief's fandom
went up like 40%
as a result of the Swifties?
As Travis Kelsey said on the New Heights
podcast, I'm going to take some time
to figure it out. I think I owe it to my teammates
that if I do come back,
it's going to be a wholehearted decision and I'm not
half-ass in it. I'm fully in it there
for them. Now there's no doubt.
I'm thinking if
you're wondering if your whole-heart's
in it, it is? I said that last week.
I said... But there's truth to that. I said, if you
have to think about whether or not you care,
I'm not Travis Kelsey's. I'm my
putting words in another grown man's mouth. But if
I said, Camino, let me think about if I'm in it for the Covino
and Richel, then you should think like, yo, he's not in it. Yeah, not in it. If I ask
Kavino, you have to think about it? Then you and I are not on the same page. If I said,
hey, Kavino, our contract's coming up soon. How do you feel about our show? And you're like,
you know, let me think about if I'm in it. If you have to think about whether you're in it,
how would you like it if your wife said that to you? Honey, our anniversary is coming up.
Let me think about if I still am in it. I was thinking about renewing our vows.
Let me think about whether or not I'm in it or not
Because if I'm not fully in it
Then I don't think it would be fair to you
You would be like well clearly she's not that in it
In any other scenario you would be like beat it
Well it might be an unpopular move
But the way Kelsey's contract is set up
What an easy way for the chiefs to sort of revamp
A little bit in 2025
it would cost the chiefs only $2.5 million to cut Travis Kelsey.
However, it would save them $17 million in salary.
Yeah, but again, there's an unwritten how much revenue they get from the Swifty fan base as a result.
Those are amazing stats.
Read that again.
It would cost them $2.5 million to get rid of them.
In dead money.
In dead money.
Well, they would save.
Save 17.
But how much are they really losing, too, with that fan base?
And then you got to say, well, what are they more interested in?
Their cap space and winning or keeping hundreds of millions of dollars of swiftly revenue as part of their team.
And by the way, if he retires a chief, right, you got to factor in that every young girl.
And this sounds silly guys, but this is the truth.
Every young girl who was impacted by them dating that are now considered.
Chiefs fans.
Yeah, I guess I'm a Chiefs fan.
For the rest of their life, if he retires a Chief,
if they're buying a jersey or going to a game
or showing interest in any team, it's going to be the Chiefs.
Do you know how much the Chicago Bulls benefited?
Yeah, but there's value in that.
And it can't be, it sounds absurd and silly,
but it can't be downplayed.
Do you know how much of Chicago Bulls benefited
in the 90s until this day,
based on kids, little boys, little girls,
everyone that's like,
I like Michael Jordan.
Because you're creating generations of fans.
You created...
And it was the chief's owner's daughter that...
Shed it.
The hunt's daughter.
Their fandom went up 43% as a result.
You'd be lying if you didn't tell...
If you're roughly 40-ish like we are,
Danny G., Big Ryan,
you tell me you don't have at least a couple friends.
They're like, I'm a Bulls fan.
And they were a Bulls fan because when they're a little boy,
they love Michael Jordan,
and they stuck with the Bulls till this day.
through Derek Rose, through nobody's till now.
They are a Bulls fan, and Travis Kelsey, by dating Taylor Swift, have created generational fans.
So we ask you, it's a two-layer question.
It would be a fool's move to trade?
I'm sorry, or cut, release Travis Kelsey.
And think about your own team.
What's the trade or cut that hurt your heart as a fan?
Think of the teams you root for from the time you're a little boy or girl till now.
What was the team cut or trade that hurt your feelings the most?
Because there's one that's happening right now that's in the same vein as Travis Kelsey.
I think it has maybe one tenth of the impact, but there's a guy that does not have a home right now.
And I think it's BS.
And I'll tell you what it is next.
Kavino and Rich, in for our buddy Colin, on the herd.
Let's go.

Hey, it's us to Jonas Brothers, and guess what? We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news. We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, Jonas, and offered it up as a potential.
title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your

Hey, I'm Joe Dono.
You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet.
Help!
Somebody!
But there's so much more to me than that.
I'm an actor.
I'm a comedian.
And recently, I've become quite the helper myself.
And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hypocrite, I'll be changing life.
lives, helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions.
Syke, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious
advice known to man. If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice.
One ring is too scary.
Oh, cream of chicken suit. Hey, cream. Cream a chicken suit.
This is help from a hypocrite.
Worst advice from the dumbest people you know.

with big sexy Ryan.
Did he think he likes that nickname?
Ryan's got to go home and be like,
Honey, they call me Big Sexy.
I mean, how do you not like it, right?
And we're talking about,
well, as Dan Byer once put it on our show,
cutting the head of the snake.
Sometimes you've got to cut the head of the snake
to change the culture of the team.
They did it with Noma in Boston
and then ended up winning two World Series.
Dude, that is the best example.
In a four-year period.
Because Theo Epstein was the young GM at the time
and people like, what are you doing?
He's the only guy we love here on the Red Sox.
He's the guy.
He's the face of the franchise.
You're going to get rid of no-mah, and that's the story.
And if you really want to change the culture sometimes and you really want to move forward,
those are the moves, the unpopular moves at the time that you got to make.
And I believe Dan Byer put it in that perspective when we were talking about Aaron Rogers leaving the Jets.
Like, hey, are the Jets going to keep Aaron Rogers?
You think, no, because if you really want to change the culture,
sometimes you've got to get rid of that.
You got to get rid of that guy.
Shout out to everybody, D.B.
Kavino and Rich in for the herd, and this comes up because there's a sentiment out there
that the chief's cutting Travis Kelsey sort of makes sense.
You're not getting rid of Patrick Mahomes.
That's not happening.
I mean, he's your guy forever.
But, you know, an aging, looking sluggish in the Super Bowl, Travis Kelsey, who has a $100 million
podcast.
Life is good for him.
Patrick Mahomes here?
I'm here.
up, Kavino and Rich, doing a great job in for
calling on the herd, and I
just want to know, like, will I have any saying
this at all? Because if it's up to me,
he's my guy, he stays on the team.
We've won't win him before, and I know we've got to
look forward to the future, but he's the guy,
he's part of the fabric of what we do,
just saying, and I just want to say, great job again,
especially that Kavino guy, he's my guy,
Kavino, way to go. Nope.
All right, Tom, I'm out. All right, later, guys.
You know, there's other tight ends.
You know, our dude, Dallas Goddard, who
we were hanging with yesterday. He's a free agent next year.
Looked them up.
He signed like a $50-something million deal, which goes until next year.
And if I was, hey, Mahomes, you're going to tell me you wouldn't want a solid young stud like Dallas Goddert, a surehanded guy like that in a year?
Absolutely he would.
Oh, and Danny, when Brock Bowers tires of being a raider in a couple years, I'm kidding.
Watch your mouth.
Oh, that's right.
I'm sorry.
I'm dealing with two Raiders fans.
I'm sorry, Ryan.
But yeah, they're saying the sentiment is if they cut Kelston,
they lose like 2 mil.
If I'm sorry, no, if they cut him,
but they also get $17 million in cap space back.
And if he's at the end,
it might make football sense,
but doesn't make sense to the fans,
to all the Swifties.
And you might say,
that's ridiculous.
But as the owner's daughter said,
hundreds of millions of dollars,
you could tie back to the Taylor Swift,
Travis Kelsey,
Chief Kingdom.
Yeah.
Whether you want to believe that or not.
Now, I said I have an example that is maybe one-tenth of this,
but it really is like, I think, a fail of all fails.
And I get it, you want to field the best team in any sport.
You could say, what good the Lakers did for Brani?
It was, you know, it's more of a show than legitimate.
He's a good young player, but he should not be NBA ready yet.
But you know what?
Sold tickets, got headlines.
But my example is not Brony.
It's not Kelsey and Swift.
I'm a New York Mets fan last year.
You can't go through three seconds without seeing a fan holding up an OMG sign.
Hello, it's Juan Soto.
I want to say I like very, very much if Iglesias stay on the team.
I feel like I like him very, very much.
And it means a lot to me, Juan Soto, if he stay on the team.
OMG.
Ongi.
One Soto.
And great job, Cobino.
I love that guy.
And I like him very, very much.
So, Jose Iglesias.
No, but you don't think he adds to that Latin flavor?
that, honestly, between you and me, bro, and the millions that are listening right now,
I think part of that is what pulled Soto to your Mets.
They had that Latino flair.
They had a fun vibe.
They had Francisco Lendor.
They had a bunch of young Latin players that had a lot of fun.
They were able to grow facial hair.
So this, this OMG, Mets rally cry has not been signed.
And I'm not saying, I'm not comparing Jose Iglesias to Juan Soto.
That you, Soto was a big cantalita fan, bro.
Pete Alonzo.
Manaya.
I'm not comparing him to any of the Mets'
off-season signings.
But when you are going to spend
$765 million on Juan Soto
and a guy like Jose Iglesias
probably is like a $5 million
utility guy.
I'm not saying throwaway 5-mill,
but please reemphasize too, though.
You're not comparing him to Travis Kelsey.
No, I'm not.
I'm just talking about...
But as far as like he's the part of the fabric of the team,
you want to keep him around.
That's what you're getting there.
Yeah. When there's a guy, a fan,
favorite, a rally cry, someone that means something to the team, and especially when it's not
when it's not big spending.
Like, Jose Iglesias isn't saying, I want double digits a year.
I bet you Jose Iglesias would take a one year small deal.
Well, don't you think Kelsey honestly should be willing to take a pay cut for, you know,
one more goodbye year and one more year of putting it out there and see if they could run it back
and make some moves just to get back on track again?
You're telling a grown man to take a pay cut.
It sounds easier when you say it.
The reality is like, why should I take a pay cut?
I'm a future hallfamer.
So he can retire as its chief.
I'm just saying.
I think there's some pride, Matt.
Your thoughts at 8774, the herd.
I want to hear the player that upset you the most when your team cut ties,
whether they released them, cut them, traded them.
The one that hurt the fan base where it's like, you know, for real, you got rid of blank?
When I was a kid as a Mets fan, I'll give you one more match because it's what I could speak of
because that's my fandom.
Two of them. I mentioned it before. When Montana left the Niners, I was like, really? I like Steve Young, but oh, really? And when the Met said, yeah, you know what, we're going to like Gary Carter move on, the late great Gary Carter. I know he was past his prime, but God, it's Gary Carter. Like, he was the face of. And he won with you guys. And he was just, you know, just the smile. And he was a catcher. So he's a leader of the team.
Yeah, there was something about Gary Carter's departure when he went out west. It was like, oh, man. Everybody loved that guy.
The soap commercials.
Yeah, one of the most likable players in sports,
and especially in New York at the time because he won with the Mets.
Yeah, Danny, let me ask you being an L.A. guy, when Piazza came to us,
I know he was at the Marlins for like a cup of coffee in between,
but did Piazza leaving hurt you guys or you not care?
No, it did.
Yeah.
I remember the girl I was dating at the time had like tears welling up in her eyes
when she found out.
You got to remember there was a mural of him on the outside of Dodger Stadium.
No, the truth is Dan Ripped, Danny ripped one.
He had a mean burrito that night.
And she was tearing up.
Yeah, it had nothing to do with Piazza.
Danny, is there a Laker?
I do not let gas in front of girlfriends.
No, Danny, I remember you tell me once when Marcus Allen moved on to the chiefs, you were very about.
You know, man, I cried.
I was like, boo-hoo.
I was very upset.
Because you don't want, first of all, you don't want to see your childhood hero like Marcus Allen moved to a different team.
But then, let alone it being the chiefs, right?
I know.
Go anywhere but Kansas City, please.
if you are a Raider.
And then more recently,
when John Gruden returned to Oakland
and Mark Davis got his dream
to get his coach back,
what's the first big move?
He traded Khalil Mack.
And there were Oakland Raider fans
at the time who quit.
They wrote memos about how their fandom was done.
They can't believe this.
Khalil Mack was the guy.
We all were rocking his jersey there at the Coliseum,
and that was a big one.
There's still Raider fans
who have not gotten over that.
What hurts the most?
It usually hurts the most when you're a little kid because that's your first realization of like, what?
Wow.
My favorite guy is gone?
How do they do?
Like, as a kid, it's like baffling.
Like, you're almost, your heart is hurting.
Like, ugh.
Why?
Why would they do that?
You know, for my brother?
He's my favorite player.
For my brother, that was Mookie Wilson.
When he got traded to the Blue Jays, everyone has their example, our buddy Bo back at Fox Sports.
It's a life lesson, yeah.
Bo said he was in fifth grade when that Piazza trade happened, and he remembers crying on the way to school.
Exactly.
What I was getting at.
Thank you, Bo,
Bo, chiming in.
That's a great example because as a kid,
you're like, wait, they could do that?
Well, you know what?
We're going to take all your feedback,
but let's hit the Hurdline News with Danny G.
Let's go.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the Hurdline News.
All right, you guys are honorary Canadians now.
So we're going to start with Nathan McKinnon,
who was named MVP last night in the nation's face off.
McKinnon scored three goals,
in the three-game round robin, starting with Canada's
4-3 win over Sweden.
Pretty good game, eh?
Opening game.
He then added two goals in that 5-3 victory
over Finland, and, of course, that propelled
his team into the final versus our U.S. team.
It was a well-deserved honor for McKinnon who got Canada
off to great early starts.
Hey, Danny G., do you think Canadians call Mark Messier,
Mark Messier-A-A-A-A?
Oh, stop.
He was...
Mark Messia-A-A.
Mark-Messie, no, you know what?
It's going to be a cool moment when people ask me in the future,
Hey, dude, you a hockey fan?
I could always say, for one day I was.
For one day.
Yeah, I was for one day.
Because that was an amazing game, an amazing moment.
We'll see how it carries on, but they had a great night.
All right, to a league we can all agree on the NFL.
Aaron Rogers, your boy, he's likely to play a wild card role in the NFL carousel.
If the former four-time NFL MVP wishes to continue his career,
he's going to have to go elsewhere because the Jets are going to release him.
He's going to need to find a team willing to give him a shot,
But what is Rogers looking for exactly?
TMZ tracked him down.
He was in a good mood after a workout.
Rogers talked about the factors he's taken into consideration.
If they want you, he responded when asked that question.
He also said he's considering the potential squad put around him,
and he wouldn't mind warm weather.
It makes all sense for a veteran.
Hey, I play in a nice place.
You know, I want to play for someone that could potentially win.
And, oh, yeah, who doesn't want to be wanted, Danny?
Whether it's a relationship or a job, the sense of, oh, wow, you actually want me is a good feeling.
News slash ladies listening. Every guy wants to feel desired.
In fact, I think a lot of times when relationships fail is when the wife or husband or girlfriend and boyfriend doesn't make the other person feel desired at all.
Yeah, for sure.
So make Aaron Rogers feel desired somebody.
Dickle his titsies a little bit.
All right, and we will wrap with the NBA.
Sports media was really critical of LeBron just a couple days ago after he's.
this two threes.
Kavino specifically.
Kavino always hard on LeBron.
At the end of that Hornets game.
Try to get him to yell at Doug Gottlieb and you.
No, no.
Truthfully, I love LeBron.
I would love to see him win one this year.
I criticized him not changing for that all-star team photo.
I thought that was a weak moment.
But he's had many, many great moments.
I just thought that was one little step.
And a lot of ups and downs just this season because one game later,
Lakers head coach, J.J. Reddick, had something to say about
40-year-old LeBron dropping 40 points
to lead the Lakers to a 110
102 win over the Blazers last night.
He really just defies anything
that's normal, Reddick said, and not just
the physical feats in the plays.
It's the mentality. He's a billionaire,
yet he's playing on the second night of a
back-to-back at 40, after
22 years with every freaking record and
every accolade. It's like,
he's just amazing to coach. He sets
the standard for how you're supposed to approach this
craft. He was blazing him,
as he said. I mean, the reality is,
we love to glamorize all the other people.
Oh, you know, he's no MJ or no Kobe or no this guy.
LeBron is doing at his age what no one has ever done before.
So it's very hard for the haters to even weigh in on this, because what are you going to say?
Well, yeah, he's 40 doing what a 24-year-old does?
Come on, the guy's insane.
You got to give LeBron props when he deserves it.
By the way, he said the secret.
He said this for a while.
He's sleep when he has a good game.
But that was hard because the Lakers, their plane didn't land until three in the
the morning. So after the game, the Lakers sideline reporter was like, well, you can't say sleep
this time. And LeBron said, yeah, I can't because I slept in until 1130.
Telling you, we're going to have a killer show on Monday. I'm going to sleep all weekend.
I have so unrested out here.
Until your son is bouncing on your head when you get home.
Yeah.
All right. Thank you, Danny G. with the Hurdline News.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by.
The Hurdline News.
Yeah, I got one dumb question to go along with all our feedback, because I want to get to your phone calls.
The player that left your team that hurt you as a kid, where you like, maybe you cried on the way to school.
I like that one.
Because again, there's rumor and speculation that the chiefs could save a lot of money by getting rid of Travis Kelsey.
But I have one other dumb question for you guys.
My wife and I have a relatively new car.
And because I'm coaching multiple kid sports now, that new car smell.
Oh, yeah.
Now smells like musky catchers equipment?
Musky or musty?
Both.
Do you as a parent that coaches, because I guarantee we're talking to a lot of dads and moms or coach,
do you keep the equipment in the SUV or do you load it and unload it every time?
Because I don't feel like taking that crap in and out every time.
But does that mean my brand new car now smells like crappy equipment?
Is that the dad life?
I think this is part of the dad life.
I think this is, you know, great problems to have.
I think it just goes to the territory of being a coach in Little League or softball or whatever it is you're doing.
Yeah, no, who wants to deal with that hassle?
I know.
Or you could just buy like a little tree air freshener.
Call it a day.
Thanks for solving my problem in 30 seconds.
Yeah.
Your feedback, the player that hurt your feelings the most will get to that next.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts.
We're starting a trend.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call.
it and well we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before
Jonas brothers was this is how you guys remember it going down yes I have a very different memory
of this we were talking about a thing a bit for the podcast people could call in and say hey Jonas
and then I wrote down on my little notepad hey Jonas and offered it up as a potential title
but thanks for remembering that guys listen to hey Jonas on the iHeart radio app Apple podcasts or
wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.

Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests

help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day

We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.

Hey, I'm Joe Dono. You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet.
Help! Somebody! Please!
But there's so much more to me than me. I'm an actor. I'm a comedian. And recently, I've become
quite the helper myself. And on my new podcast, Hope from a Hippocrite, I'll be changing lives,
helping people in need with my sage advice and thoughtful solutions. Sike! I'm a
comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Join me and my comedian friends as we riff rant and recommend some of the most
legally dubious advice known to man.
If I'm calling you, even if you're on your phone, let it ring twice.
One ring is too scary.
Oh, cream a chicken suit.
Hey, cream, cream a chicken suit.
This is Help from a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people you know.
Listen to Help from Hypocrat as part of the MyCultura podcast network available on

The story I've told myself about love or relationships can then shape my behavior,

What a night.
What a night.
What a Thursday A.
Did they say Thursday A?
Stop it.
What a Thursday A night for Canada.
Congratulations.
We talked about the Four Nations title, Big Win and O.T.
I was shocked when I watched us then.
Yeah.
The Canadians didn't have the floppy heads like they're doing South Park?
Yeah, I thought they had floppy hands.
I was so confused at first.
But anyway, we were.
watched, we enjoyed. Great time.
We talked about it. We'll talk about it again later on.
Kavino's a traitor. He's been eating ketchup chips and
puteen all day and Tim Hortons. I'm like, dude, this guy.
Yeah, no, that's me. What do you go there for good?
That's me. Kavino, that is Rich.
In for Colin on the herd at Covino Enrich.
Shout out to the IHeart Radio app. If you're listening there,

At Covino Enrich, C-O-V-I-N-O.

YouTube page.
called Overpromised. I love that
show. I think you'll like it too. And speaking of shows
and what to watch, next hour,
we're going to get you ready for the weekend. We do it every
Friday. Weekend hobnobing. What you need to watch in the world of sports
and pop culture. We'll do that next. Let me ask you,
besides work trips, because we've done some really fun broadcast in Canada,
Vancouver, Toronto. We went to
Windsor when the Super Bowl's in Detroit, because someone said go to the
strip clubs. I mean restaurants in Windsor.
Yeah. But have you ever
gone there on your own, not work related?
To where? Canada.
Yes. For what?
I don't know. I have, though.
I went to college. I was a young man because the drinking age was 18.
I was going to say, oh, hey, dope. That was why I was asking. When I went to Syracuse,
people would go to Niagara Falls and go on the other side just because they were like,
we could drink younger. That was like, that was the upstate New York. You know, you're in the
border town. It's a very underrated thing to do. Yeah, that was always a thing. You go to the
casino and you drink underage in Canada.
Shout out to our Canadian friends.
We got a lot of them, but a big night.
But right now we're wrapping up our conversation about Travis Kelsey.
If you just joined us, the stat was and the story was, there's just speculation that it would cost $2.5 million to release them, but they would save $17 million.
So that's sort of like getting rid of one of your main guys just for the greater good of the future.
It makes you think about...
It makes fiscal sense, but when you talk about emotions with the fans and the swifties and the money that...
Believe it or not,
I know it sounds ridiculous,
but you were said before,
the money that even the owner's daughter said
that being tied to Taylor Swift brings in hundreds of millions of dollars.
I'm not sure how much financial sense it makes.
It actually does make when you factor that in,
when you factor in generations of new fans
that they would keep if he retired or ended his career as a chief
with all these Swifty fans.
It's ridiculous.
But it makes us think of those players that you lost,
because he is part of the heart and soul and fabric of that franchise
and this run that they've had.
those moments as a kid
or maybe as an adult
where they got rid of my guy
and you know it's kind of hard for me
there's so many moments but one that does come to mind
like we have sort of like our standard answers
one that always comes to mind for me is
Robinson Canoe because I always thought he was
going to be that dude like he's the guy
homegrown
guy I thought he was going to be a Yankee forever
and when he took the bag and went to Seattle
it was like it was heartbreaking everyone else left
You cried.
No, seriously, he was like, what?
You know, I'm reading our, Danny, while you got the phones rolling,
I'm reading our feedback on X and Instagram.
Let's see.
How about this one?
When Neil Smith left the Chiefs to go to the Broncos, that's from Michael.
He said at that moment, I became numb.
Yeah, West Johnson hit us up and said,
Garnett when he left Minnesota.
I'm a grown man, and I cried as a Chargers fan,
when Keenan Allen said, no, I'm going to go become a bear.
Wilbur Marshall leaving the Bears.
That was from Total Sports Podcasts hit us up saying that was a big one.
We're getting a lot of feedback.
And yeah, Kevin Garnett, again, Kevin Garnett was a big one.
Oh, how about this?
Jordan said when Griffey Jr. was traded from the Mariners,
he thought that guy was a lifer.
That might be a number one answer.
Tracy McGrady from the Magic.
That's from Sinclair who hit us up.
So, you know, the thought of Kelsey leaving the chiefs,
That wouldn't sit right with a lot of people.
You know what sort of felt weird and it didn't happen?
But it felt inevitable.
And, you know, as you saw, they pulled the 180 real quick.
Didn't you get the gist that Steve Cohen was like, yeah, later, later Pete Alonzo?
Yeah, absolutely.
And for a minute, I thought that was a bad move to make.
I thought he was your guide.
I honestly thought you guys weren't appreciating him enough and showing him the respect he deserved as a matter.
And it seems like, you know, obviously it all worked out and people were projecting,
oh, he's going to have a big year with that protection with Lendor leading off.
and Soto in the lineup, Viento's coming into his own.
But there was a moment where it seemed like,
yo, Pete's really going to go.
And you're like, Pete Alonzo's a Blue Jay?
That would have been whack,
because that was like the most likely landing spot.
I remember thinking, my daughter, who's seven and my son who's five,
Pete's probably like the first met they know because I'm like,
that's polar bear Pete.
So I would have been weird to be like, kids, he's gone.
What do you mean he's gone, dad?
What do you mean, Dad?
So next hour, Fox Sports Radio Nation,
We're going to play a game and give away prizes.
A game called Quote Me is one of our newest games.
We're going to play Quote Me and some weekend hobnobbing
what you need to watch in the world of sports and pop culture.
