We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it.
But, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.

Here we go.
It's hour two.
It is a, what are we doing today?
It's a Wednesday today?
It's holiday season.
We are a week away from Christmas.
Now, you and I are off on Christmas, right?
I hope so.
Christmas Eve, I just found out my daughter's coming over making cookies all day.
Oh.
And I'm going to have a big chicken parm dinner.
So that's going to be amazing.
That's massive.
Free cookies for dad.
She said she's going to bring over like five friends and just, you know, that's what they're going to do.
And I don't even know.
So it's like we went on a walk last night after the bucks went on a walk last night after the bucks winning.
It was like, uh, what are you doing?
My family's all over the country this year.
It's a weird year.
So, you know, kids get older.
They're all over the place.
You did invite me on Christmas to come over.
Yeah, we're still waiting on the RSVP on that one, big boy.
I told you.
All bring the wings.
Okay.
I don't think your family could handle me.
I come with a lot of hot takes.
Not baggage?
Well, that too.
A lot of baggage and a lot of takes.
He has the neurogum.
Just no cigars.
Oh, bummer.
Okay, so, you know, I was thinking, Jim Nant said this weekend, Jim's terrific, he said the Buffalo
Bills are America's team, and I've been on this for a couple years.
Dallas is not America's team.
When Dallas is on, I don't watch.
I'm not interested.
I love watching the Chiefs.
I love watching the Packers.
I think the Lions are a great story.
I think I do believe Buffalo feels a little bit like America's team, is that they've been to
Multiple Super Bowls, I think if the Buffalo Bills go to a Super Bowl, it will shatter records.
Now, I think Kansas City going for a three-peat is good as well.
But I was thinking this morning, if I had a choice, these would be just for the bigness of it, the macro of it, these would be my five favorite Super Bowl.
So number one would be bills against the Detroit Lions.
I would call it snow caps against kneecaps.
I mean, listen, the Lions have never reached a Super Bowl, and the bills are always.
and four. I mean, this would be, this would be, I mean, tears. Somebody's going to win this,
and you're going to get emotional as a viewer. I think Buffalo right now is the better team.
Neither's playing a ton of defense, mostly because Detroit's all banged up. The second best
Super Bowl to me would be the same Buffalo Bills against the dramatic Philadelphia Eagles,
super quarterback against super roster. I think Philadelphia has got the most star players in the best
roster.
And I think teams like that are fun to watch the Super Bowl against a team that's got some
limitations on the defensive side.
Also, number two scoring offense Buffalo, number one defense Philadelphia.
I think the third Super Bowl I'd want to watch would be the Kansas City Chiefs against the
Packers.
This matchup would be pretty Gouda.
I'm sorry, I ran out of material there.
Okay.
So the Chiefs are looking for their first ever three-peat in the history of the league,
and they're Andy Reed and Mahomes, big stage.
Hackers have not been to a Super Bowl since the Aaron years,
but when they get there, they've won four or five.
And again, you're talking about, I think, in my opinion,
Jordan Love has a lot of Patrick Mahomes to his game
where he can let it loose.
He'll throw an ugly interception, but he is a lot of fun to watch.
Number four, and maybe it's me, Baltimore against Philadelphia.
It's Lamarvellous.
Lamar finally proves his critics wrong.
Again, stylistically, power football, a lot of running, but some playmakers.
Lamar is 24 and 2 all time against the NFC.
So I think Philadelphia is the much better team.
But Lamar, the first time you face him, I mean, there is nothing else like him.
So that would be the fourth best Super Bowl.
And finally, the fifth best Super Bowl, and I'll be on.
sufferable if it happens, Jim Harbaugh against Sam Darnel, where Colin was oh so right.
The coach I love and two quarterbacks I love.
I think both teams are probably a draft away.
But listen, all these Super Bowls are going to get a number.
I do think Detroit Buffalo, I don't think you can top that.
I think that is, that's tear-jerker stuff.
More than anything, because I don't think Baltimore has the defensive makeup to win, but it is interesting.
So both Buffalo and Baltimore, we love their offense.
We have questions about the defense.
But these games are going to be played up north.
I mean, the truth is, your defense, who's throwing the ball if it's 28-mile-hour wins?
So Buffalo and Baltimore, and for, let's be honest, Kansas City is not a high-powered offense.
So the argument for Kansas City is they have the best defense of all the top teams in the AFC.
I mean, they do.
It's a much better defense than Buffalo.
It's a much better defense than Baltimore.
So we spend so much attention paying attention to offense.
But what really makes it interesting for Kansas City is they have the best coaching quarterback and the best defense.
So everybody wants to sell their chief stuff.
Don't forget the last three Super Bowl champs, Kansas City twice and the Rams,
played their best football from about now until the game.
Remember that?
Remember the Matt Stafford first year in L.A.?
They started well.
Then they got really sideways in the middle of the season.
Then they got hot.
Kansas City last two years.
They've been trying to figure out their offense.
Like in week 14, they're not sure what they're off.
Remember last year the Chiefs got beat by the Raiders.
They couldn't figure out their offense.
So as the season has been expanded to 18 weeks and 17 games,
and this has always been to some degree a league of attrition.
I mean, the chiefs lose their left tackle and they've got to go on the market and get a left tackle.
So I think the one thing you worry about with Kansas City is not the Mahomes injury.
It's that the one time they've been vulnerable in the playoffs is when they could not protect Mahomes.
And he has been hit this year more than any other year.
you can't get to Josh Allen.
Josh Allen, he hadn't been sacked in a month.
So there's a lot of, I mean, I think weather comes into play here.
It doesn't matter until Detroit plays Philly, big advantage if it's 12 degrees in Philadelphia outdoors.
But if it's a fast track, I mean, Green Bay will be fine outdoors, Philly will be fine outdoors.
You know, Vikings, I think, are mostly because of their vertical nature, are built to play indoors.
and Detroit is.
You mentioned Green Bay.
It looks like it's going to be a snow game or really frigid temperatures against the Saints
this week.
The last time we saw Green Bay in bad, inclement weather in Green Bay was against Detroit, and
they did not look good.
Now, that was love coming off the injury.
I think the Packers indoors are a scary football team, Colin.
Their receivers are like a track team.
So Josh Allen has not been sacked since November 10th.
That is insane.
So whereas Mahomes is taking a beating.
So that's another big advantage.
You're going to get a very fresh, a very protected Josh Allen.
And Mahomes, we've seen them in Super Bowls limping around.
So by the way, before we get to Urban Meyer, after the break, Urban Meyer, Ohio State, Tennessee,
that thing's got upset written all over it.
Indiana is a touchdown underdog to Notre Dame.
J. Mack, I don't know what the wise guys think.
Indiana's well coached.
A month off, that's pretty interesting.
Do we have Urban now?
Oh, we do.
Okay, let's go to them right now.
Urban Meyer, Fox Sports College Analyst, is joining us live.
So the Ohio State Tennessee game is fascinating.
Ohio State's got better players.
Here's what I worry about.
And you've had teams like this.
The Tennessee D-Line, that's their strength.
The Ohio State O line is arguably a unit that's always been a bit in flux.
If you went into a big game and you're like, okay,
and you went into a few of these, okay.
We can't do this, and they can.
Does that concern you that the volunteer strength could be the liability of Ohio State?
It's very alarming.
Anytime you get to December, that's really the number one place you look.
All those years of game playing, and the first thing you do is, I mean, I remember for years and years and years,
you just run back and forth the matchups on the offense line and defense line.
and when Seth McLaughlin, the center got hurt for Ohio State,
this is right after their best performance,
maybe in two years at Penn State,
and they didn't play very well against the Wolverines.
As a matter of fact, they played poorly.
It looked discombobulated,
and a lot of that's because of those three injuries they had in the offense line.
So there's some answers, but that's the first play you checked.
The obvious answer is, Colin, get the ball out fast.
This is going to be a throw-first game for Ohio State.
It's going to be cold, but there's, you know,
is what it is. It's going to be a throw-first game, which
obviously that's not conducive to
a big-time matchup, but this could be a throw-first game for Ohio
State. So, Urban, this happened to you very
infrequently. But if you lost a game in college and had a long
layoff, that's different. Generally, you win,
Ohio State wins, they get a month off. Boy, it is. It is a lot of energy
and a lot of smiling in the weight room. Teams kind of trying to find
itself for the next month. So it's about culture and it's about coaching. Does that concern you?
It does. It does because you've been having to eat this damn thing now for three weeks.
It's awful. I mean, I was there in Columbus and that's, you know, you lose to that team up north.
You lose to the Wolverines. And Ohio is a tough place, man. That's a high expectations.
But I actually talked to Coach Day. In the old days, you had to, if you lost that game,
you had to eat it for 365 days, go to some bowl game,
you wish you didn't were in probably.
But you don't have time now.
You got an SEC program, a team that's got a very, like you said,
a very good D-line coming in there.
So to me, Colin, this is all about those seniors came back for a lot of reasons.
One was to beat the team up north.
They didn't do it.
However, they also want to go compete for a national title.
To me, this is a locker room issue.
If they come out and play well, that means they got a strong locker room.
If they don't, that means they don't.
The two best college football coaches in my lifetime are probably Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.
Both you try the NFL.
The fit wasn't ideal.
I don't believe that all NFL guys go to college and it's easy.
I don't think Belichick or Bill Parcells.
They don't have a lot of charisma.
I don't think they're built for college football.
I think you're limited on number of hours.
I think you have to deal now more than ever with donors and administration and nonsense.
I thought college football was always going to be tough for certain.
certain guys. I think it's going to be, I think Bill's going to get tired of it really quick.
He's built a pro model. You know Bill. We know he's smart.
But Nick and you could turn it on. I know both of you. I've been with you. You have a good
sense of humor. You're light. That's a big part of this thing. The players are selecting you
in college. In the pros, you just select them. I'm in the minority here. I think Bill,
I think the tedium of college football coaching could wear him out.
Are you a little concerned that he's stepping into something that's gotten really difficult college coaching?
I know coach very well.
Went to many times up to the Patriots, and what amazed me was how smart he was,
and he adapts and he can get things done.
It's a much different game that me and you knew, Colin, that, for example,
you know how many times the coaches are on the road the month of December in college now?
None.
It used to be every day.
You were gone for three weeks in the month of December.
in people's homes now you don't do that now it's simply they come to your
campus you find out how much they're being paid and you give them or you don't
give them the days are gone when you have to write all the emails that are not
emails text messages and handwritten notes and and talking to the players
girlfriends as aunt you know the the high school social studies teacher the
the assistant strength coach is going to help you get an end in the school
that's all gone so it's a much different you know if there was a time for
coach Belichick to go to college, it's now.
I would say 10 years ago, five years ago, it would be a real struggle because it's just
something he's never done.
It's probably something he's not very comfortable in.
What you just said, yeah, you're on the road in those high schools.
You don't do that now.
So it's simply how much is it?
I'm recruiting Colin Coward.
I call you up.
Say Colin, how much is it going to cost for you to come to North Carolina?
You and your agent tell me your number and we either go or we don't go.
And by the way, I'm not cheap.
I've got very good hands.
I'm not cheap.
Okay.
Pretty gray here I might have recruited you.
Oh, not now.
So, listen, I've been wrong more than a few times.
I thought Lincoln Riley at USC would work.
But there is a difference between being schematically very smart and building a program.
And I've always said, USC, California high school players, a lot of quarterbacks, receivers, and corners.
you guys sometimes you've got to leave the state to get great linemen
he doesn't appear to love recruiting
he lost a lot of good players in the transfer portal
is it possible i just missed on it i'm just
it's not going to work i mean they're freaking out out here
what do you make of their situation right now
i just worry i like lincoln rally he's always been very good to me
i coached against him
one of his early games they beat us when he was a head coached oklahoma
I love his offensive scheme.
I'm saying all the right things
because I believe it should work.
Here's the problem, Colin.
Once you lose momentum, it's hard to get back.
And USC's lost momentum.
I mean, they had it.
When they hired him and a lot of energy,
they officially have lost momentum in Southern California.
What does that mean?
Normally it doesn't end well.
I'm going to give him Bennett to fit it out
because it's not his first rodeo.
He did a really good job at Oklahoma.
I think you'll get it back.
I really do.
But the minute you lose momentum,
you've got to really turn up the heat now to get that momentum back.
And that's got to be it.
You've got to get some prize recruit.
You've got to win some games.
Because if you continue to lose momentum, this will end poorly.
Yeah.
So I guess, I mean, I think I've kind of said,
I picked Tennessee to win the Natty before the season.
You did?
Yeah, I did.
I think Josh Heipel.
I liked them.
They're D-lined.
and they always have good receivers.
I mean, they have good backs and receivers in down years.
It's just Tennessee.
I don't know if they can beat Ohio State,
so I'd feel much better if they didn't have to go to Columbus
because I think the Buckeyes are going to win.
But I am just, I look at Texas,
and I made this comment, and tell me I'm wrong.
I know they've got a bunch of great players,
but for some reason offensively, they got Sark.
They have the best left tackle.
Why aren't they scoring more?
I don't see juice. Ohio State, I see juice. I see juice with their backs. I see juice on the perimeter.
I watch Texas, and I'm like 17 against A&M struggling this week, struggling against Georgia.
Is it just a Georgia thing? Or maybe is Texas a little overvalued?
That's great. I actually went back and watched them yesterday because I'm going to do some commentary on the playoffs coming up here.
And I've been at Texas. I've picked them.
I picked them again this year to be right there, and I think they will be right there.
Here's what I think's happened.
I don't see the same creativity that I usually see from Sark, and I'm wondering if he's just a game
manager now.
That means he has an excellent defense.
I love the defense.
Yes.
I think they're obviously one of the best defenses, and when you have a great defense, you
have a tendency to kind of tighten up and just play to win the game.
I think that's what's happened with Ryan Day a little bit.
When you see your defense just smothering an opponent, and I've been to, and I've been
What goes to your mind is don't lose this damn game.
Right.
Do something stupid and play to your strengths.
The fans hate it, but you know what?
At the end of the day, your job is to win that game.
That's what I see when I watch Texas right now.
That's what I see when I see Ohio State right now.
I don't see the creativity.
I don't see the balls to the wall.
Let it fly.
And I'm not disagree with it.
I've been there.
I've won a lot of games where you're, you know, you just don't feel great about your
offense and you play to the strengths.
And that is, do not turn that ball over, field, play field position.
football and find a way to win the game.
That's what I see when I watch Texas right now.
Okay, so you could make the argument.
Ryan Day, if you took out Jim Harbaugh,
we would have none of these big discussions.
But Harbaugh is one of the greatest coaches ever.
You lose three straight.
Then you lose this year.
You're upset.
I got to ask the tough question.
They lose to Tennessee.
It's good game.
It's close.
Ohio State is the only SEC team north.
That fan base is, I'm sorry, talk radio.
It's different.
I've always said, out of respect, it's an SEC team in the Big Ten.
Even Michigan, you can lose.
You can lose to Ohio State.
Four losses to Michigan, first round if they lost, is Ryan Day in trouble?
Do you believe?
Not this year.
I think they will not make the change.
They will not do that now.
Okay.
There's no chance they'll do that now.
Because, Colin, if you made that change, you'll lose.
your roster. You know, you lose, they can't do that. They can't do that now. I don't believe
they do that now. It would just be that much more pressure for Coach Day and his staff next year.
And they have a tough, you know, they open up with Texas right out of the jump. So, no, I don't
believe they'd do it this year. Yeah, I wouldn't do it. No chance. I wouldn't do it. But I'm,
you know, I see that message board crowd. They get, you know, athletic directors read all that
nonsense. So it's, I wouldn't do it. But, you know, I'm a level-headed guy.
You think AD's watch the message work?
Oh, come on.
Urban, those guys.
Really?
Oh, I think owners listen to talk radio.
How ridiculous is that?
I'm not saying.
They listen to Colin Coward.
Well, now that, again, those takes are pretty solid.
Yeah, we know that.
All right.
Urban Meyer, great seeing you again.
Yeah, great seeing you all was calling.
Urban Meyer, good stuff.
Yeah, I wouldn't move off Ryan Day.
I think he's good coach.
you know, it's, you know, some of this is, I think he hit on it,
that Ohio State and Texas have such good defenses.
I mean, I've been watching Texas all year.
And my take is, where'd the offense go?
Now, I think Arch Manning, frankly, should play more, but where to go?
It's all five-star athletes.
You've got the best left tackle.
They always have good, again, it's Texas.
They always have tight ends and receivers.
So I think, I think Herman Hinn on that.
Because I've been watching, like I see Ohio.
Ohio State, I see juice.
I see Oregon. Whoa, I see.
No, Georgia is just limited,
offensively, in my opinion.
But I'm watching Texas the last month,
and I'm like, where did it go?
One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day,

That's Cabino and Rich.
Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, huge news?
We created our own podcast called,
Hey, Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band.
Before Jonas Brothers was...
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas,
and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy,
not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman,
Help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcast presents soccer moms.
So I'm Leanne.
Yeah.
This is my best friend, Janet.
Hey.
And we have been joined at the Hipsons High School.
Absolutely.
Now a redacted amount of years later.
We're still joined at the hip.
Just a little bit bigger hips.
Wider.
This is a podcast.
We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey.
With all the snacks and drink.
Sidebar.
Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer?
Well, they had a bogo.
Well, then you got it.
Do you want a white collar or something here?
Just take it.
What are y'all doing?
Microphones?
Are you making a rap album?
I would.
Come on.
How did you put?
I would buy it.
Cutts through the defense like a.
Hot knife through sponge cake.
That sounds delicious.
Oh, you're lucky I'm not a drug addict.
You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic.
You are.
I'm lucky I'm not a killer.
I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on.
Oh.
Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, fam?
It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm CJ Toledano and our podcast Point Game is about defecers.
find the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. And finding
ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level
that we've never seen before. And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate
the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be
exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like
Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to
to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
This week on Crimless, we're joined by our first ever guest.
Sorry, our first ever human guest.
I don't think I could be in the same room with Shamrock the parrot.
I'd be too nervous.
That's right.
The very funny Will Ferrell joins Rory Scovel and me, Josh Dean,
for an episode dedicated to the many crimes committed by people also named Will Ferrell.
They called to his fellow officer for the nippers.
What are the nippers?
Very good question.
No, I was thinking, would that be a good name for like a salad dressing?
Simple assault.
And it's a play on word, salt?
Maybe not.
I say we invest and we see.
There's only one way to know.
This did not amuse the cops.
By the way, normally the cops are amused, but this did not abuse the cops.
Will even comes clean about some of his own crimes.
I didn't get caught.
You know why?
If you don't want to be suspected of anything, you whistle as you walk.
Woo-hoo-hoo.
Listen to crime lists on the...
the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I was just thinking of this.
Julian Edelman last hour, I just saw a quote from Dionne Sanders says he has no intention of leaving Colorado.
You think he leaves Colorado?
I mean, he did small college, smaller college.
Now it's Colorado.
He said he doesn't want the NFL.
If I said, bet your 401K stays at Colorado or leaves somewhere.
Well, I wouldn't put my 401K on something like that.
But listen to the words.
I have no intention of leaving Colorado.
That's not I'm staying.
If the right job opens up, see ya.
He's gone.
That's why he used, I have no intention to leave.
You still get the recruits, right?
Recruits are still going to come in.
That's good.
We'll see what happens.
Wording matters.
No intention of doing that.
Yeah.
Well, I didn't intend for it.
I just got a great offer.
Yeah.
That's interesting.
J-Mac or the news.
No, no, no, no.
Turn on the news.
This is the herd line news.
Well, we had one big flip of the spread in the NFL,
and that's because Patrick Mahomes showed up at practice this week
and practiced in full yesterday, Colin.
This was a guy who was injured and maybe sitting out,
practiced at full.
Now, you drill down a little bit on this practice report,
and it's like, okay, this was like a glorified walkthrough for the chiefs.
Because they're banged up,
and Mahom said the ankle is still by.
bothering him, but returning to practice, flip this. Remember, yesterday the Texans were
two and a half point favorites. The Chiefs are now laying a field goal at home against the Texans.
This is a big game. I think Kansas City wins it with Wence or Mahomes.
With Wenz? Yeah, I think Carson's, on the scale of backups, I think he's a really strong backup.
Based on what?
Well, I mean, this is a guy that four or five years ago was in the MVP race. He's a good athlete.
five years ago? Well, again, I'm asking him to be a
back, I'm not asking them to be a starter.
I'm just saying as a backup.
Like Danny, Daniel Jones
as a backup is outstanding.
I have a rule on backups.
If the starter's out two games,
can you win one? If the starters out
five games, can you win two?
If you can win three
out of five, you're probably a lower-end
starter. But, but, but, you know,
it happens all the time.
starters out for a month.
Can you win half the game?
So Malik Willis comes in for the Packers.
And everybody was betting against them.
But he was a very good backup we learned.
Not a franchise guy.
Great game plan.
Great backup.
It worked.
They won.
I'm wondering, Reed would have ample time to give an install to Carson Wentz.
Of course.
Right?
Yes.
I think Kansas City is the play.
I just on principle one of Jason Tyson's here.
Warm weather dome team go to Kansas City.
Sorry.
By the way, have you been checking the weather on the college football playoff games?
No, I mean, the Ohio State game.
We'll be talking about the games.
How about Notre Dame, Indiana? Is it a snowstorm?
Don't bet those games unless you've seen the weather reports, yes, for sure.
So I'm curious, you know, Kansas City in late December going to be chilly for, you're right,
the indoor Houston Texans.
Interesting game.
Probably have more on that Friday.
We'll see.
Next up, oh, it's the Cowboys.
Yes, of course.
Michael Parsons' future in Dallas.
We're not going to call it limbo, but it's deserving of discussion.
Stephen Jones had some comments.
And now Jerry Jones wanted to clarify his son's comments
and how the team feels about their star edge rusher.
He did not in any way say that Michael Parsons was at issue looking ahead at the future.
At all, he did not say that.
And by the way, I didn't hear what he said.
I have not read what he said, but I know he didn't say that.
Because that's never been uttered in this organization that we don't have the future with Michael Parsons.
Okay.
So all these people listen to the show, they're on the younger side, right?
When you're hanging out with your grandpa at Christmas next week, look at him and think,
oh, that's probably what Jerry Jones is like.
Because that's, listen to that interview, Colin.
He's giving a radio interview about Michael Parsons, who isn't even a free.
agent or like I just I don't understand this at all this need for him to talk to the media all the time
it's just puzzling yeah it well it's it's it's great fodder for the show well jimmy johnson
you know it's funny jerry didn't do this the first two to three years when he was building the
business yeah in fact the only time he showed up to practice was at the end of practice when the
media showed up with the cameras and then jerry jones would show up for the cameras but when he
was building the business you didn't see him around doing all these radio interviews but at some
point, Jerry liked talking.
And this is what they are.
It's weird.
I kind of feel like I think Cowboy fans, a lot of times in our business, if we don't
love a team, the fans are very critical of us.
Like, Niner fans can't believe I don't love Brock Purdy.
It's like, dude, last 14 games, look at the record, look at the numbers, look at
him against the best teams this year.
But I think Cowboy fans have come to a conclusion that this was inevitable, and right now
they're dysfunctional.
And when you look at Philadelphia and you look at Dallas, how many cowboys start, now that Zach Martin's banged up, how many cowboys start for the Eagles?
C.D. Lamb, probably Micah, their kicker, and maybe one of their corners.
I mean, there's just not many cowboys that start for Philadelphia.
And just let's remember, this is a team, I believe, three straight years, they had 11 victories or more.
They were in the playoffs.
Like, this was a team that was riding high.
They got old and bad fast.
to you.
And, you know, just, I don't know.
I keep using the Lakers, Cowboys, bigger brands than reality,
but I feel the same way with the Lakers.
I mean, Dalton Connect can't defend.
Austin Reeves is your second, third best player.
LeBron took a week off.
He's not the same.
Like, these big brands, I just, I think it's predictable.
I think they have both Cowboys and the Lakers have too many family members in the building.
Well, the Lakers were extinguished.
was it the
they lost to the nuggets in the playoffs was it yeah
yeah um
Dallas that loss of the packer still inexplicable
it feels like everything has gone wrong
That was the turning point
When they got blown out at home
That game was over in the second quarter
That was the moment you had to be honest
About DAC and the Cowboys
We are no longer
Even in the conference championship discussion
Forget the bubble for the Super Bowl
When they got blown out at home it's like
Okay this team is now
This is not a team
capable of winning two playoff games.
Maybe one at home, not two.
Just unbelievable.
How quickly they fall in.
Final story, Colin, is the Detroit Lions and the injuries.
Oh, they're mounting.
It's really ugly.
I saw they have an NFL high, 22 players on IR this season.
Nobody's even close to that.
David Montgomery is the latest casualty.
Season-ending, MCL tear.
Now, Jemir Gibbs has to step up as the workhorse back,
and Dan Campbell says he can handle it.
We got a lot of confidence in Gibbs.
You know, he's continued to get better and better.
He's just season's gone.
And, you know, and when he's given me the opportunity, he's made a lot of plays.
Man, he made some big plays for us yesterday.
You know, he brings the explosive element.
He's getting better in the past game, and then you see what he's able to do on the run game.
So we have a ton of confidence.
I don't worry about their offense.
That part doesn't worry, Andy.
I am deeply worried about defense.
What do they have?
18 guys in the IR.
I mean, it's very difficult.
I'll say this about Jemir Gibbs.
I'm not keen on drafting running backs early.
This guy's an awesome football player.
He is really fun to watch.
And Bejohn Robinson isn't quite as twitchy as Gibbs.
But if you put Bejohn in the Detroit offense...
Okay.
And the other thing is, we only get about one running back drafted in the first round every other year.
most of them hit.
The kid from Boise State would star
behind a decent O line.
Sequon hit.
Zek hit.
I think Bejohn Robinson
is very good in getting better.
I know everybody's very reluctant
to draft first round running backs,
but it's that scarcity of great ones
that almost ensures that it works.
I mean, I mean,
Cajana Carter was going to be great.
He got Penn State guy.
He got hurt early in his career.
Adrian Peterson first round.
Christian McCaffrey first round.
I mean, most of the first round.
I mean, most of the first round running backs feel like they hit.
To me.
Now, the one thing about Gibbs is he's, like, he's the lightning to Montgomery's Thunder.
Yeah, he's not.
And our staff found a good stat that Gibbs has 25 or more touches just once in 29 NFL career games.
Yeah, that's not what he is.
So he's not, yeah, it's tough.
Now, listen, I have him with my fantasy team.
He's carried me to the semifinals.
Every week this guy is just explosive as hell.
I don't know, though, if you can, is he a 20 carry guy and then,
eight to ten catches.
Well, he's not a 20-carry guy in three or four straight playoff games.
That's not what he is.
No way.
So I don't know what they turn to here.
It just stinks, man, because this Lions team was fun, you know?
As a Jets fan, we're not stiff at the playoffs.
I was riding with the Lions.
Now I think I have to ride with the Buffalo Bills.
I think Philadelphia is going to the Super Bowl.
And I only think one team can beat him.
Packers?
No, I think Philadelphia is going to the Super Bowl.
I think Kansas City and maybe Buffalo could beat him.
If Philadelphia gets to the Super Bowl against anybody other than Mahomes or Allen,
it's going to be ugly.
It'll be a blowout Super Bowl.
I still think it's so great that Baker Mayfield and San Darnold.
Keep an eye on Baker Mayfield and those bucks, man.
I got some, well, I don't want to give away all my stuff.
Don't really want to give away all my stuff.
But I got something good for you on the bucks later this week.
J-Mack with the news.
Well, that's the news.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas brothers.
And guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, new?
Huge news. We created our own podcast called Hey Jonas. We invented a podcast. Well, we didn't invent it. We just contributed to a...
We're the first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there. But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name Hey Jonas, guys? I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it. And...
Well, we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas.
brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast,
where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad,
Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.

Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy.
Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,

We do some retirement homes.

Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcasts,
presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. This is my best friend Janet. Hey. And we have been joined
at the hips since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later. We're still
joined at the hip. Just a little bit bigger hips, wider. This is a podcast. We're recording it as we
tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey with all the snacks and drink.
Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo. Well, then you got it.
Do you want a white collar or something here? Just take it. What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a
Rap album?
I would buy it.
Cut through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake.
That sounds delicious.
Oh, you're lucky.
I'm not a drug addict.
You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic.
You're lucky I'm not a killer.
I love this team and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on.
Oh.
Oh.
Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or where
wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast, Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when
and they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us
on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nash would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running the court, licking his fingers
while he got the ball.
After you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah,
you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court,
and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

All right, by the way, I watched the first 12 minutes of Enigma on Netflix with Aaron Rogers documentary.
I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this.
Kind of memo to Hollywood people and pro athletes.
I'm generally not that interested in your journeys.
I'm interested in your movies and your games.
Michael Jordan was different.
He's very private.
There was a lot about Michael Jordan I didn't know.
So that was fascinating.
With Aaron, I've seen his feet.
So basically, my take is he turned in his playbook for a summer and picked up some shrooms.
I don't know if that's a journey or a midlife crisis.
I mean, he went to Berkeley.
He's probably the last guy in his graduating class that took shrooms.
I didn't know what to make of it.
Like, again, self-exploration.
I'm happy for people who do it.
It doesn't necessarily fascinate me.
You know, he got high, you know, and was having a good time.
It is what it is.
I don't, I like when people overcome obstacles.
I do feel, and I think I'm being fair here, Aaron has created some of his own obstacles.
You know, with Michael Jordan, there's the death of his father.
He was so big iconically that he just retired the pressure.
He came back.
he tried baseball. There were the Rodman years. He didn't get along with the general manager.
I never felt like Michael created the obstacles. And also there's timing. Michael is kind of
mythical. Aaron's still playing. He's not very good. And if the team was great, it would be more
interesting. I think you should probably watch it. It didn't move me. And the people who did it
are very talented. But I tried twice to watch it. And I don't know what to say. I think
Ian O'Connor's book, all the background I wanted.
That was fascinating.
I would read that Into the Darkness with Aaron Rogers by Ian O'Connor.
That's fascinating book.
I tend to like documentaries and books on athletes.
But I feel like Aaron's story has been told the difficulty with his parents.
I get it.
Like, not everybody gets along with mom and dad.
Like, I get it.
I have sympathy for it.
But, you know, watch it.
I tried.
It didn't work for me.
So I thought it was interesting.
Urban Meyer.
So starting Friday, Notre Dame.
hosting Indiana. Weather's a huge issue this weekend in college football. So these warm
weather teams like Tennessee go into playing Columbus, just don't play in that weather. I think for years
and years, Big Ten teams complain they had to go down closer to SEC school, so the fans, you know,
all had to travel. I think the SEC warm weather teams going cold could be interesting.
I do like Ohio State to win, although I pick Tennessee to win the Natty, but if it was played
down south in Knoxville, I would take the upset. I would take the bowl. I would take the
It was interesting.
I just don't,
I have questions about Belichick working in college.
I thought it was interesting that Urban Meyer said earlier on this show,
it actually may be easier for Urban Meyer in college now.
I know Coach very well.
Went to many times up to the Patriots and what amazed me was how smart he was
and he adapts and he can get things done.
It's a much different game that me and you knew.
The days are gone when you have to write all the emails,
or not emails, text messages and end written notes
and talking to the players' girlfriends as aunts,
you know, the high school social studies teacher,
the assistant strength coach is going to help you get an end in the school.
That's all gone.
So it's a much different, you know,
if there was a time for Coach Belichick to go to college, it's now.
I would say 10 years ago, five years ago, it would be a real struggle because it's just something he's never done.
Yeah.
It's an interesting perspective.
What's really going to be fascinating, and we will probably hear this story trickle out, when Charlie Weiss, NFL guy kind of rough around the edges, went to Notre Dame, didn't have a transfer portal.
Charlie wore people out.
His personality, it is what it is.
I think he's a nice guy, but it was rough.
And Mike Lombardi and Belichick, they'll probably bring like a Joe Judge in and a Matt
Patricia.
Those are NFL guys.
This is going to be a strictly NFL model.
So I don't know how that's going to work in an athletic department.
I still contend Belichick wanted a pro football job, and they turned their eye to him,
so somebody's going to pay a bunch of money.
Why not?
I don't know.
We'll see how it works.
It's not that he can't coach.
it's not that the portal won't work
it's that
you got to do a lot of glad
handing
in the college game
you know mark Rick the former
Hurricanes and Georgia coach I asked him once
about recruiting
and I was actually at the other place
and I was in the hallway
and he was going to come on later in my show
and during a break
I went over and talked to him and I said
you're a great recruiter
what's the secret
and I never forget
this. Mark Rick said, you just got to show
them more love than the last coach.
That doesn't feel like something
Belichick would pivot too easily.
And even today, even though it's paying,
that's a sign of love.
You have to show love.
I don't know. I'm interested.
The other thing, so that Urban Meyer
sort of changed my perspective
on it, he thinks it's easier now.
I thought Danny Parkins did a really good job
an hour ago. So I think Mike Frable's the
guy I would hire in Chicago. I think it's the guy
that works. But I thought
Danny Parkins had an interesting perspective on why Joe Brady, who's never been a head coach
even at high school, maybe, he's getting mentioned, may be a better fit.
I think that this was, I want to coach in the NFL.
Only one team showed interest last year.
It was Atlanta.
I lost out on that to Rahim Morris.
Is any NFL team going to give him the power and the control that he craves?
I want him in the NFL.
I think he should be in the NFL.
I think it's way more interesting.
Yeah.
That wasn't done.
But I think one of the things he also talked about is that if you look at Vrable, how it ended in Chicago, there was a bit of a power struggle.
And that is true.
There was a big power struggle.
And Vrable's going to want control.
Well, Kevin Warren, I don't think is the guy that wants to relinquish that.
And so this was an issue with Belichick in New England.
What happens to a lot of these coaches, coaches make a lot more money than general managers.
Right.
So in the room, when the coach walks in, outside of the quarterback, he's the biggest star in the building.
Quarterback won coach two.
I mean, you're Sean McDermott.
They're making $8, $9, $10 million up outside of Josh Allen.
They have the most power.
And so what happens is Vrable's making a lot of money.
The GM is making one third of it.
Vrable's popular.
He's winning.
The fans like him.
and he wants more say in personnel.
And in Tennessee, it went sideways.
That's what happened to Belichick.
By the way, happened to Pete Carroll in Seattle.
Paul Allen died.
There was a leadership vacuum.
Pete wanted more control.
John Snyder, the GM, very smart.
I'm out of here.
I'm going to Detroit.
They brought him back.
He took control of the drafts,
and the Seahawks hit back-to-back great drafts
when John Snyder was again controlling them.
So this is a power struggle.
And I've talked to guys in this league.
I've talked to GMs in the league.
league. Howie Roseman in Philadelphia
is one of the only
GMs in the league. He may be the only one
who has
the most power in the building.
Howie Roseman's got way
more power than Nick Sariani.
And even the other
really, really
good GMs coaches
the star, owner pulls all the strings.
So GMs get caught in the middle
from crazy impulsive owner
and rock star head coach. Now, Brett
Veach is lucky in Kansas. He
because Andy Reid doesn't want to deal with all that personnel.
He's going to do what he's going to do.
But GM is, you can't major in it in college.
Chris Ballard's got an impulsive owner.
My buddy, Tom Telesco, has got Mark Davis.
It's hard.
And so, Howie Roseman's it.
He has all the control.
So if you go to Chicago, I think what I've been told,
and I talk to Mike about this, it's a little bit who's pulling all the strings here.
I know I'm not the owner, but do I have to deal with a president and a GM?
Who's controlling stuff?
Because Vrable's sensitive to that because he lost that in Tennessee.
He had a power struggle.
They started losing games.
He lost some of that.
And so he's sensitive to it.
It's like Bill Belichick.
You know, Bill Belichick, you know, there are certain things he wants, and he wants control.
Pete Carroll wanted control.
You know, like Mike Tomlin, he has a say, but basically the Steelers are so good at drafting and developing.
Same with Matt Lefleur.
Matt Lefleur and Tomlin, they get a say,
but the front offices of those organizations,
Packers and Steelers, do a very good job in drafting and developing,
so you trust them.
Yeah, McVeigh's got the control over Lesneet.
McVeigh makes the ultimate call.
That part, I mean, Les Needs got a great staff,
but if Sean wants something, Sean's getting something.
All right.
Julian Edelman will stop by an hour number three.
It is interesting, though,
Grunk and Edelman and Brady have all sort of sort of
said, yeah, I don't know if this is going to work in college.
Like, I will say this for Belichick, he's got a lot of doubters.
Even people he was close to.
You got a lot of doubters.
J-Max got him in the Natty next year, so that's a whole different ballgame.
I can't wait to see Edelman here and whenever he comes by.
Belichick's going to the playoff next year.
Lock it up, coward.
I got my college football picks in.
You got yours in?
I'm working on them.
